Ch. 216..220: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 216-220

Chapter 216: Chapter 216 – Robin learns his lesson once.

"Just tell me one thing. Is Zayla’s pregnancy yours?"

Robin let out a deep breath, contemplating whether or not he should let out the truth but for Sabrina and Cobby’s sake, Devin was his family.

He was no longer a friend of Martin and Robin still saw him as a brother-in-law.

Trusting his thoughts, he let out,

"She’s not even pregnant but faking it."

Devin breathed out so loud that Robin felt the warmth of his breath since they sat side by side from each other.

"What a great relief. So, what about Mara?"

Devin felt as if a huge burden had just been lifted off his shoulders upon hearing those words.

Mara might give Sabrina a scare but Zayla’s presence always brought her great pain.

This revelation to Devin was going to change everything.

"I believe that she lives in Martin’s mansion but we have been able to get only one spy in there and she ascertains that there is no sign of any other woman. I can’t tell if she has been paid to keep quiet or she just doesn’t know."

Devin was beginning to fear that indeed Mara was non-existent or dead as said in the news.

"How can no one knows if she’s there?" He asked in unwavering doubt.

"Mara is a demon. If she had been able to hide all these years, then what would she not do? She sometimes goes by the name Yolanda Thomas and has a powerful hacker who always hides her movement."

"Daniel is still trying to track him down," Robin explained before receiving an email notification on his phone and went to attend to it when Devin asked him,

"About Daniel, is he really serious with Lizzy, or does he want to mess with her?"

Robin was reading an email from one of his CEOs, frowning a little at Devin’s question.

Lizzy and Daniel had gone on about five dates so far and Daniel always returned happy, which to Robin meant that everything was fine between them.

Also, he would only give a response if Lizzy was the one asking since she was the one directly involved.

"Why don’t you ask him?" Robin shrugged and began to respond to his email.

"He is your best friend," Devin insisted, wanting to hear Robin’s opinion but he refused to give him anything tangible.

"A good reason why I can be biased."

Devin did not see the smirk that curled Robin’s lips when he responded since the latter was busy on his laptop by then.

"You are right. I will ask him but whatever you do, please don’t hurt my sister again," Devin warned in a serious tone, Robin’s fingers on the keyboard froze and he said seriously,

"I learn my lesson once."

Devin was satisfied by his response and felt that it was time to take the rest of the day off and also get Martin arrested.

"Thank you."

At the close of the day, Robin went to pick up Sabrina at the office but when he walked past Maria’s desk, he realized she was still in the same clothes, except that she had buttoned up.

Shaking his head, he walked away without a word, glad that she wasn’t going to be there tomorrow.

Aside from Sabrina, the only woman he grew respect for was Aria. Throughout the years they worked together, she was always disciplined and polite, not missing deadlines, and very diligent.

He was grossly ashamed when years back, he tried to hit on her but she was quick to let him know that she was married and that ended whatever desire Robin had towards her by then.

In every way, Aria was very capable and Robin ensured to reward her very well too.

Reaching Sabrina’s office, she was busy, so he stepped out of the car to go and wait for her in her office.

On his way, he met Aria when coming out of the elevator.

"Where are you going when she hasn’t closed?" Robin asked, greatly upset.

Aria lowered her head and explained politely,

"She said I should go because you are here."

"I understand but don’t you think you should have still waited for me to get here? I didn’t send you here to work because her secretary can do that. I only wanted you to keep an eye on her for safety reasons," Robin explained with disappointment.

"I’m very sorry sir, I didn’t get that understanding," Aria retorted in a remorseful tone.

Robin remembered that he had brought her in the morning so her car should still be at the office. He felt bad for not having someone to drive it over to her.

"Okay, but you left your car..."

"I told my husband to get it for me and he should be here by now," Aria cut in and responded in the same polite tone, Robin was relieved.

"Alright. Enjoy your evening."

"Thank you, sir."

Robin stepped into the elevator, remembered something, and quickly blocked the door from closing, as he called out,

"Aria!"

She turned around looking confused but was soon relieved when Robin said,

"Next time you are giving me a temporary or relieve secretary, make sure you give them the rules about how to dress."

Aria felt in her guts that something must have gone wrong but did not ask for the details, only asking,

"I will do so sir but will I still work here tomorrow?"

"No. I have a pile of work waiting for you," Robin revealed since he did not give Rita any work apart from that of a receptionist, to inform him about visitors so Aria’s work doubled.

"Thank you," Aria said with a smile. She only hoped to not be sent elsewhere after informing both HR and her boss about her pregnancy as Sabrina advised.

When Robin reached Sabrina’s office, she smiled and said,

"I will be done very soon."

"Okay," Robin agreed and sat in front of her, just admiring her expressions as she sat and worked behind her desk.

Sabrina felt a little guilty having him leave his office to wait for her in hers and thought to explain,

"Robin, just to let you know, I won’t be in the office tomorrow, which is why I’m getting a lot of things done tonight."

Robin was uncomfortable, wondering her reason for absenting herself.

"Why?"

Chapter 217: Chapter 217- Dear one, I have a surprise for you on your birthday

Sabrina stopped what she was doing and stared at him with her lips curled into a smile, wondering what he was thinking to have that worried look on his face.

"Because the day after tomorrow is my birthday, Lizzy and Matilda want me to get my hair done, the dress fitted and all."

"Lizzy won’t go to work either and Matilda is free in the afternoon so we’ll be fine together."

Robin relaxed after hearing her explanation, even smiling a little but he thought to inform her in advance about Zayla’s presence at her birthday to not shock her when the time arrived.

"I get it, and I understand but Sabrina, Zayla will be at your party. I hope you don’t mind?"

Knowing that if he asked her directly if she could allow Zayla at the party would get an instant ’no’ he termed it that way.

Indeed, Sabrina’s mood was destroyed and she was upset.

The helplessness she felt at the fact that he was telling her at a time like this when she could not tell him to call off the party was appalling since invitations were already sent out and very prominent people invited.

Her countenance turned cold,

"You paid for everything so I don’t get to have a say. She’s carrying your child anyway."

Robin was prepared for this but did not know how to bring that smile back to her face without ruining what he planned.

He also knew that should Sabrina have the least idea about what he had in mind to do to Zayla, she would stop him because she was too kind.

"Dear one, I have a surprise for you on your birthday and I promise that I have nothing to do with Zayla."

Sabrina stared at him with mockery in her eyes this time, remembering the reason why she asked for a divorce in the first place.

It was all because of Zayla. She was the only one Robin brought to their matrimonial home because she was pregnant for him which meant that she still held a very special place in his heart if not his life.

Even the day Sabrina wanted to tell Robin how she felt about him before his surgery, Zayla was already there, making out with Robin so what was she supposed to think?

The only person to blame was herself for agreeing to marry him, even if it was to save her family’s business.

"So, am I supposed to trust you?" Her tone was coated with mockery when she asked, Robin lacked the right words to comfort her at this time.

"I just thought you should know because it’s your party and she has a lot to tell you."

Sabrina scoffed. What could Zayla possibly have to tell her after betraying her like that? If she had not been too open to Zayla when they were friends, all this would not have happened.

"I would rather prefer that she doesn’t come."

Robin breathed in and out. This was very difficult for him since he did not want it to also seem as if he was imposing it.

"I’m not imposing it but she must be there because there is something I have to tell you."

Sabrina was annoyed for whatever he wanted to tell her at her birthday party which he could not tell her right there in his office.

They’ve always been through worse, including him asking to have sex with her, pretending it was because of the pregnancy so what else could it be?

"Tell me right here and now. I don’t want to wait until the party."

Robin ran his fingers through his hair frustratedly, deciding it was better to not inform her about not being the one to bring her to the party because it would only make matters worse.

She had better be taken by surprise at that part.

"I know that you don’t trust me but for this once? Can you do that? I promise that if this surprise I have for you doesn’t make Zayla’s presence worth it, I will give you all the freedom and not pester your life again."

He expected Sabrina to be relieved or happy since she never liked his presence but none of that showed on her face as she rather looked disappointed.

Sabrina did not know the reason why Robin’s words did not make her happy but rather sad but it was slowly settling in that she had gotten used to his presence every morning and evening in her life.

She had begun to enjoy his friendship slowly, which was unexpected but as for Zayla, Sabrina did not want her there.

"Is it because she’s carrying your child too?" She asked seriously, Robin smiled.

"Dear one, you have twins with me. I am just asking you this one time. If you allow her to attend your birthday party, I promise that I will never have anything to do with her again."

Sabrina was puzzled by the statement. If he cut ties with Zayla, then what would happen to their co-parenting?

Unless there was something he was not telling her. It piqued her interest and she wanted to know.

"If you have nothing to do with her after the party, then what would happen to her pregnancy?"

"You will have all the answers there. Please give me a chance and I will not let you down. You should also understand that your happiness is my top priority at this moment."

Sabrina went into deep thought. She did not know what to expect but was curious to know how Zayla’s presence was going to make her happy.

"Okay, bring her."

Robin smiled broadly, wishing that he could hug her but knew better than to not do anything to make her upset.

The hug from this morning was the best thing that happened to him in a long time, if not the whole of his life and he wanted more but also knew that he had to be patient with her.

"Thank you."

Sabrina did not say anymore and it took another thirty minutes before she was able to round up whatever she was doing.

Arriving at her dinner, they were surprised that the family waited, even when they had not called to confirm how late they would be.

Devin and Matilda were there as well and Robin understood why they waited after they began eating when he said to his father,

"Dad, the cops went to Martin’s office to arrest him but he was not there."

Chapter 218: Chapter 218 – Feeling ashamed to feel that way

"Dad, the cops went to Martin’s office to arrest him but he was not there," Devin said to the hearing of Robin, indirectly informing him of the outcome and also requesting Martin’s home address since it would be a shame to say that he did not know.

Cobby scoffed and gulped down a glass of water upon hearing the news.

It was not surprising that Martin left his office unattended to avoid getting arrested.

"He can’t hide since his company is at stake and you should know his house. He needs to be arrested and he has to pay for what he did to your sister," Cobby said with a grim expression.

"I intend to send them to his house tomorrow," Devin said, stealing glances at Robin.

Knowing what he wanted, Robin brought out his phone and sent the directions to Martin’s mansion to him.

Devin smiled after seeing the message with gratitude plastered on his face.

"Everything is stabilized at the company too and none of the investors have withdrawn, only more have been on the application list," Sabrina said.

Robin smiled but did not say a word. Just glad that she was able to continue handling things as they should be.

She was not in a hurry to bring more investors on board, which was also understandable.

"That is good news," Cobby remarked before he asked,

"Brina, we hope that going to court will not be too hard for you."

Before Sabrina could respond, Devin said,

"Dad, the lawyers would do most of the talking. She wouldn’t have to say much because the video shows everything. Besides, she doesn’t even remember."

Sabrina was grateful for the arrangement because she had secretly thought about it before and knew that since the public was aware because of the videos, things might be broadcast live.

She never liked the limelight and was worried about this part.

"You are right. We should eat," Cobby urged all of them and they obeyed. A few minutes later and halfway through their meals, Devin asked,

"So, Dad, what about all the money you pumped into the company? Technically, Martin doesn’t have the shares so isn’t the company too rich now? Are you going to withdraw and hide it in the trust fund like before?"

The father and son knew that the question was directed at Robin so Cobby said,

"Robin, you have been very quiet. You are partly a part of this family so what do you suggest that I do? I brought out all the money in our trust fund to invest in the business again. Do you think I should return it?"

Robin wiped the corners of his mouth with a napkin before he responded,

"Investing it in the business is not a loss and will still generate income so my suggestion is to leave it there."

Indirectly, he was not taking back the money.

Well, he wanted his ex-wife back, feeling like she was already his wife since he would never allow any man close to her.

As such, whatever he owned, equally belonged to her.

"That is not a bad suggestion. I will still think about it before deciding on what to do," Cobby said wisely so no one suspected exactly what had transpired except for the three men involved.

However, judging from the random exchange of glances between them, Matilda discerned that Robin had offered his help but then again, she would never tell anyone about her suspicions, though she wished Sabrina would be on the knowing list.

Lizzy remembered what Devin said about Martin and grew worried since she would have to be in the office whenever Devin wasn’t there.

"Devin, you promised to give me the day off when you knew you had to get the cops to Martin’s house."

She did not want to sound accusing but also sent her message politely. Devin smiled and said to her,

"No. I will just give them the location and they will go there. I don’t have to follow them."

"Much better," Lizzy smiled, as she felt relieved to be able to focus on making her sister the star of the night once again.

When they were done with dinner, Robin said to Sabrina,

"Dear one, are you ready now? I have to take you for your daily walk."

Sabrina was feeling lazy because she was very satisfied and created an excuse, "Matilda and Lizzy are here. You must be tired too."

Robin instantly disagreed. For whatever reason she did not want him to take her for the walk, he was not hearing it since it was part of his bonding time with her as well.

"Matilda and Lizzy did not get you pregnant. Please, stand up, and let’s go."

He was already standing by her side as soon as the words left his mouth, but Devin and Cobby smiled.

It gave them the satisfaction that Robin might indeed not need their help in getting his ex-wife back.

Sabrina stood up with a frown on her face but when hit with the breeze after they stepped out, she felt good.

As they walked through the quiet streets with only the brightness of the streetlights, Robin took a risk and joined his hand to hers.

Sabrina stiffened and Robin feared she would get upset and pull her hand away but she said nothing and neither did she pull her hand away.

Gradually, she relaxed and Robin sighed with relief, whilst they walked quietly.

When they reached the mansion, Sabrina pulled her hand away and said,

"Good night."

She did not wait for a response before entering the living room and closing the door, her heart rate quickening so much that she felt ashamed to be feeling that way.

Robin was left dumbfounded but swallowed his reservation since he did not see how her face crimsoned before she went in, only eager to see her the next day.

After he drove away from the mansion, he knew there was one last thing to do.

Tactically avoiding Zayla’s calls, it was time to get her to the party.

Chapter 219: Chapter 219 – Last favor

Robin arrived at his penthouse where he has not been for over three weeks now. Everything on the outside was alright.

Security and everyone were at post and alert.

He tried to open the door without knocking but it was locked from the inside so he knocked on it but there was no response.

He could hear the music coming from inside and knew that the evil woman was in there.

Good enough, he also understood the reason why the door was locked because the driver informed him that Zayla had not gone out for the past two days, and neither had she placed any orders for food or groceries.

It was late and Robin was surprised by the music playing in the penthouse when Zayla opened the door, clad in hot pants and a tank top that exposed her stomach.

It was obvious that she was having an aerobic dance before walking to the door, judging by the sound of the music and how sweaty she looked.

When she saw Robin at the door, shock gripped her and she ran into her room to get dressed, also putting on her fake bump.

Fears covered her mind as she wondered if Robin had seen her flat stomach.

The last time she went to his office, she was wearing her fake bump but since it’s been a long time, she hoped that Robin had forgotten or not seen.

The old Robin would have asked questions but not this one since he did not want to drop a hint.

Walking around the living room, he picked up the remote and silenced the music.

Surprisingly, everything was tidy, which meant that given the hard circumstances, people would change but it also heavily depended on whether they’d become salt or shea butter.

Robin was also amazed by how Zayla still found a way to make herself very happy, even with the minimal budget he put her on.

Then again, it could be because of the money she was expecting. If he came back to see his home untidy and questioned her, what would she say?

In everything, there was just one thing that got Robin upset and that was her happiness.

How could she be ever so happy and bubbly after all that she did to Sabrina?

Robin was the one suffering for everything because he was the one living with the pain and loneliness of losing his wife.

The thought of revenge warmed his heart and he held it all in, waiting for her to come back, without bothering to sit down.

It was sympathetic by the way Robin felt like a stranger in a house he bought with his own money because of the evil woman he imprisoned there but that would change very soon.

Once he gets her out of the way, he might just sell it since he does not want to keep any memory of her, good or bad.

Having already projected in his mind, he long decided that should Sabrina give him a second chance, he would ensure to make her the happiest woman in the world, so much so she would forget all the pain he caused her before.

That was Robin’s only resolve.

"Sorry Robin, I had to change," Zayla said with unease at the same time as descending the stairs, looking at him keenly for any facial expression that would give her the concession of the thoughts in his mind yet, Robin’s expression was just blank.

Unknown to her, her apology rather got him upset, though he knew it was because of the fake pregnancy.

"You didn’t know who was at the door and yet you went to open it looking like that? If you have to hide your nakedness from someone, should that be me? Or maybe, you are comfortable around the security and driver."

Indirectly, he was accusing her of having affairs with those he mentioned.

Zayla’s eyes turned glassy at the sound of those words and she debunked,

"No Robin. We haven’t had anything since we moved in together so it feels weird."

Robin’s only intention was to coax and get her to the party without dropping a hint of what he planned to do.

Therefore, he forced himself to relax and even smiled a little bit,

"How is the baby?"

"Good," Zayla responded, nervously, hoping to get the money and leave since the diamonds were fake.

Also, it did not seem like things would ever work out between her and Robin, as his attitude was so terrible, that she began to agree with Sabrina that Robin treated the woman outside better than the one at home.

"Antenatal report?" Robin asked and fear covered Zayla’s eyes, she stammered,

"I...I haven’t gone because you said that we should always go together but you never answered your phone when I called multiple times," she whined with a miserable expression.

At the moment, she could not even tell if Robin was angry or sad or whether he was serious or joking.

There was just a wall around him that she could not penetrate, no matter how she tried.

"Okay. We shall go again tomorrow," Robin said, trying to make out how she was able to tell the lies without his detecting them.

"Can’t it be when I come back from visiting my mom in Florida? She’s better but disappointed that I did not come. I just miss her," she said with a sad expression.

"You should tell her to come," Robin advised and saw Zayla’s countenance change.

Grandma Cecilia already told him that Zayla’s mother was a good woman so he could guess that it was either the woman did not know what her husband and daughter were doing or if she just did not want to be informed or be a part of it.

"She said she likes the weather there and my father misses her too," Zayla said thoughtfully, careful to avoid Robin’s scrutinizing gaze.

This was the man she loved but everything changed by the way he slapped her, the fear she felt towards him was stronger than any love she ever felt before.

"Alright. Do one last thing for me and you can go and visit her since the money is ready."

Chapter 220: [Bonus Chapter]Chapter 220 - Robin, can I hug you?

At the mention of the money, Zayla’s eyes were as wide as saucers.

"The five million?" She tried to confirm and asked, Robin felt bitter.

The signs were glaring but he closed his eyes to them.

Now, he learned his lesson, feeling like a different person and would never be toiled with again.

"Yes," he agreed and Zayla asked,

"What do I have to do?"

If it was about the money, then she was willing to do anything.

She just knew that she had to do anything to escape, especially when her movements were now restricted and she also did not have access to Robin’s money to pay people to give her information about Sabrina.

It would be impossible for someone to fake even the antenatal report for her since she did not have the money to pay.

The worst part of the whole thing was, she would also not be able to pay anyone to steal Sabrina’s baby for her when he or she was born, and neither would she be able to arrange for it with Robin restricting her movements like this.

Zayla might be dumb sometimes but this danger was so glaring that she did not need anyone to warn her about it.

"It’s Sabrina’s birthday on Saturday at the Crystal Hotel. She doesn’t have many friends so I want you and your father to come."

Zayla could feel the color draining from her face.

Perhaps her time of being locked away from the world allowed her to take account of her life, taking into consideration all that she did against Sabrina.

It was evident that Sabrina always won and stole the limelight from her.

Even as Robin’s ex-wife, she still occupied a special place in his heart.

Zayla knew that for her sanity, it was better to not get close to Sabrina, especially when it was her birthday and her being the star of the occasion.

"Robin, I don’t want to attend your ex-wife’s birthday party. You have more time for her than you do for me," she lowered her head and said but Robin was not going to let her get away, and neither did he want to force her so he tactically said,

"I will have time for you now. From today. The pressure has reduced in the office so starting from tomorrow, I will spend the night here."

Spending the night there was to ensure that he carried every evidence he needed since they were all in the penthouse and also, to take her to the party himself, alongside her father.

"You promise?"

Zayla beamed, as she asked the question, Robin forced another smile, though all he wanted was to drain the life out of her instantly but how then would the world know about the truth of the matter?

"Why not?" He asked rhetorically, Zayla was filled with warmth.

She could not understand Robin’s temperaments but liked it when he was not so cold towards her.

"Okay. I will speak to my dad."

Robin felt her father might refuse due to what he did to him the last time and thought to add a warning.

"Tell him that if he doesn’t do me the favor and attend, then I won’t give the five million anymore. In short, I won’t give him anything at all."

The subtle threat was enough to break all of Zayla’s defenses, compelling her to surrender once again,

"Okay."

Robin looked at the time on his wristwatch, grimaced, and said,

"Let me complete what I am doing in the office. I will see you tomorrow in the evening."

Zayla agreed and Robin was walking back to the door when she asked behind him,

"Robin, can I hug you?"

Before Robin could create an excuse to say no, she wrapped her arms tightly around him from the back, Robin stiffened and his anger boiled.

He did not hug her back but as soon as she pulled away, he walked away.

He did not look back but reaching his office, he removed the clothes he wore and dropped them all in the bin.

It was as if she was some kind of plague and he was afraid of being infested.

When he was done, he went to the bathroom and scrapped himself as if infected by a virus and as he lay in his small bed, he did not turn off the lights, so he could gaze at Sabrina’s pictures until he drifted to sleep.

That is why it has been for him ever since he made that room in his office his bedroom and he has slept peacefully since.

The next day, he went to visit Sabrina in the house with the secretary he got for her because he wanted the spy to know her house for which reason he did so.

Sabrina, knowing that she wouldn’t go to work, did not plan to wake up early but when the maid went to call her, she felt that Robin had forgotten she wouldn’t go to work, for which reason he came and thought to go and remind him.

She looked dazed in her pajamas and kept yawning when she went to where Robin usually pulled over every time he picked her up and dropped her.

It became his usual spot such that they always left it for him.

"Robin, I’m not going to work today," she yawned and spoke.

As to whether or not she saw the woman beside Robin, no one could tell since she only focused on Robin at that moment.

"It doesn’t stop me from checking on you and the baby," Robin smiled and said, Sabrina smiled a little in return, feeling like she was losing her sleep which she did not want to.

She had to go back to continue her sleep for at least two hours before Matilda returned with the beautician. As for Lizzy, she was still sleeping as a result of exhaustion.

"We are fine as you can see."

When she lifted her hand to cover her lips from letting out another yawn, the shirt of her pajamas lifted, exposing her small bump.

Robin’s widened instantly and he asked,

"Can I touch it? I miss them so much!"
