Ch. 231..235: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 231-235

Chapter 231: Chapter 231 - Zayla, can you tell her about how you saved my life?

Robin was unhappy with the media’s intrusion at the moment, knowing that Sabrina hated it too.

This was not what he wanted them to report on and without wasting time, he was already beside Sabrina to address the issue, speaking sternly to the media representatives,

"She has nothing to tell you and don’t forget that you are under strict restrictions to only report what you are told."

The cameras lowered instantly and the media representatives moved away.

Robin held Sabrina by the waist but she hit his hand away.

Knowing it was because of Zayla, Robin was not offended.

"Dear one, you look superb," he remarked and Sabrina wanted to say thank you but when she looked around and saw Zayla and her father, her mood was destroyed completely and she hooked her arm to that of Devin before saying to Robin,

"I can see that you are busy. I will go ahead."

She was about to drag Devin away when he extended his other hand to Matilda, who hooked hers to it as well.

With the arm of both women hooked to Devins’, they walked into the auditorium and since Sabrina was the birthday woman but also pregnant, they could not serve her with any of the alcoholic drinks.

When they took their seats, Sabrina felt terrible when Robin brought Zayla and her father to her table.

Daniel was also there with Lizzy, Matilda, and Devin but Sabrina was still uncomfortable and began to look around for a different table to join when she saw where her father sat.

She stood up to go and sit there but as soon as she took a step, Robin was by her side and Zayla’s gaze darkened with envy.

It was obvious that Sabrina was still taking all the attention, even when Zayla had gone the extra mile to look this good.

What even ached her heart was the way Robin addressed Sabrina.

"Dear one please, I have something very important to tell you."

Sabrina shook her head, not willing to share her table with Zayla, and not caring if she was overacting.

"You can tell me when I sit at that table," She pointed at where her father sat, smiling at her but Robin forced a smile, trying his best to not upset her any further.

"Please sit here."

Sabrina was adamant.

For as long as Zayla was not in her space, she was fine but right now, she was not going to share the same table with her.

"Robin, allowing her into my party is enough but sharing a table with her, I will not allow it," she said adamantly.

Robin could have moved Zayla to another table but wanted her close.

He also could not let Sabrina leave because everything involved her.

The guests at the party could not discern that something was off because of how they spoke in low tones.

"But it has to do with what I want to tell you, please," Robin tried to explain, but was already feeling miserable.

Sabrina was more stubborn than he thought.

"Then tell me now," Sabrina insisted. Robin took deep breaths before saying,

"Sabrina, the party has not even started." He wanted everything to be at the latter part when everyone had eaten and drunk enough but Sabrina was stubborn.

"Robin, if you want me to be happy, then address whatever it is before we go ahead with the party or I will leave you to celebrate it for her."

Threatening to leave her party because of Zayla, Robin discerned the height of the problem and decided to change the plan.

"Okay, please sit down."

Sabrina sat back in her chair and Robin tapped on his wine glass with his cutlery, gaining everybody’s attention.

He called the MC over and said to him,

"We are not going by the program anymore so let me have the microphone for now and the music should go off."

"Yes Mr. Jewel," the MC nodded politely in obedience.

Robin employed him to be the MC so there was nothing he could do about the changes.

He informed the sound team and the auditorium went quiet. One could hear a pin drop since the music was turned off.

As soon as the MC brought the microphone, Robin rose to his feet and began to address everybody.

"Media, reps, you are now permitted to broadcast this message live."

Cameras, recorders, and whatnot were already in place as soon as Robin permitted them.

When they signaled him that they were ready, he smiled and began to speak.

"Welcome to the party everybody. I would like to tell you a brief story about when Sabrina and I were married."

Robin instantly gained everybody’s attention and Kennedy was getting upset to be invited to a party like this to showcase his ex-wife but Zayla was even feeling worse.

"As you all know, my wife and I have been separated for months."

"Divorced," Sabrina murmured but Robin ignored her and went on to say,

"I want to use this opportunity to apologize to my wife because I was never a good husband but if given the chance, then I’m putting myself on trial and you all are the judges."

Heads bobbed but confusion clouded the faces of the guests with no one able to pinpoint exactly what he was talking about.

"The problem between me and my wife was all because of a sacrifice made by Zayla."

Zayla froze as Sabrina glared at her and she hoped that it was not what she was thinking since Sabrina was there.

"Years ago, when I was very much younger, I was diagnosed with kidney failure, and with my rare blood type, I could not get a donor."

"Oh, oh," the guests could be heard sympathizing and Robin smiled,

" Zayla saved my life and it’s the reason why I did not want to marry my wife because of you were me, wouldn’t you have married the woman you saved your life?"

The guests began to discuss among themselves but it was a little audible.

"If Miss Chance saved Mr. Jewel’s life, I think he had every right to not want to marry Miss James."

"They are already divorced and that is good. He can marry Miss Chance now."

"He made the right decision to go after Miss Chance."

As the discussions were ongoing, Zayla’s head was lowered in fear and she was shivering. Kennedy was feeling hot.

Sabrina was confused, knowing that the only help Robin needed then was a kidney donor who was her so how did Zayla get involved in that part?

Without thinking, she asked sarcastically,

"Zayla saved your life? How?"

Robin looked at Zayla and asked innocently,

"Zayla, can you tell her about how you saved my life?"

Chapter 232: Chapter 232 – Robin, I’m sorry but I am not the one who saved your life

Zayla’s palms were very sweaty and she wondered the reason why Robin had not given her a heads-up before mentioning it.

Sabrina wanted it to be a secret and Zayla took advantage of it.

Now that Robin mentioned it directly, Sabrina was also here with all these people and the media as well.

If things went out of hand, Zayla was certain that her life would be in jeopardy, especially when she did not have the money to escape yet.

"Robin please, I want to use the ladies’ room," she said as a matter of urgency and rose to her feet.

Robin’s gaze darkened dangerously but the next moment, his lips stretched.

"Okay, Zayla, just answer her question before you do," Robin responded, putting on that same innocent look.

If she thought she was going to escape, then over his dead body.

Everyone watched, as all the color in Zayla’s face drained and she was as white as snow.

Everyone including Sabrina was staring at Zayla with expectation.

Sabrina remembered that Robin had said before that Zayla saved his life but never imagined that it was in the angle of the kidney transplant.

She always thought it was something else since Robin never gave the details back then like he did now and was beginning to wonder if it had to do with the donation but since that was her, she was indeed expecting something else.

Zayla forced a smile but it did not reach her eyes and her stomach churned instantly, like she wanted to throw up from her fears.

"It doesn’t matter that I saved you, Robin, it’s because I love you and I don’t want anyone to know," Zayla said smoothly into the microphone Robin held to her mouth, the guest’s cooed, feeling like she was the kindest and most romantic person that ever lived.

Robin chuckled and glanced at Sabrina before extending his hand to Daniel, who gave him bundles of hundred-dollar bills, which he dropped in front of Zayla,

"You asked for this as a payment for saving my life after telling me that the diamonds my father left you for saving my life were fake," Robin revealed and Sabrina’s eyes widened but she was confused at the diamond part.

Before she could ask any question, she heard someone from among the guests saying,

"It seems that Miss Chance isn’t so kind. She did not save Mr. Jewel’s life for love."

"Yes, it seems it was all because of the money. She should have just collected money from him rather than destroying his marriage."

The money was in front of Zayla and the only thing that came to mind was to take it, run away, and never come close to Robin again or leave the States for good.

"Robin, you misunderstand. I only asked for money because my mother is sick," she lied, forgetting she had told Robin that her mother was fine.

"Zayla, didn’t you say that she’s already fine but was upset that you hadn’t come to visit? Perhaps I should keep the money then," he attempted to take the money when Kennedy said,

"Who said her mother is fine? She just did not want to bother you but when I spoke to her mother yesterday, she was admitted to the hospital. You see, my daughter and I have to go and see her urgently."

Looking at the faces of the people present when he spoke, he felt like he succeeded in winning their sympathy and made an attempt to pick the money when Daniel pushed it towards Robin and spoke,

"Everybody wants to know exactly how your daughter saved Robin’s life."

Kennedy was surprised by the change in Daniel since he seemed very nice before.

However, he had to save his and his daughter’s life by getting out of this party and yelled,

"Is it not obvious that Robin is alive because my daughter donated her kidney to save him?"

"What?" Sabrina expressed her shock when the realization of the matter hit home that all along, Zayla had put into Robin’s mind that she was his secret donor.

This was something she had kept to herself and her family for so long and never wanted him to know but now, if she could use it to get Zayla out of Robin’s life for good, then that would be splendid.

However, remembering that Zayla was also pregnant with Robin, she felt it was unnecessary since Zayla would still be in Robin’s life because of the pregnancy.

What she did not expect was when a man slapped Kennedy from the back, his face hit the glass of champagne in front of him and it broke, as the man snarled,

"Lying is not permitted here."

The man was one of the general’s bodyguards in the army.

Zayla was horrified and was about to reach out for her father when the man said coldly to her,

"Miss, I am trained to hit women too."

Zayla trembled from fear, her legs felt like rubber and she sat back in her chair.

"Zayla, don’t waste the time of these precious guests. Sabrina is still waiting for an answer to her question," Robin reminded her.

Zayla remembered the number of people who had slapped her.

Devin, Sabrina, and even Robin but she was sure that a slap from this man behind them would send her into an early grave as the man’s presence caused even the guests to shiver.

Looking at her father’s reddened and swelling face, she was already hyperventilating.

Then again, she remembered that Robin still believed that she was pregnant so even if she confessed, he would not be able to hurt her because of the pregnancy and she could find a way to escape before the expected time of delivery.

The only problem would be her incurring the wrath of Robin and also, she would lose the money but could find a way to get it back, even if it meant stealing it or using her pregnancy as an excuse.

Yes, she could threaten to take her life later and force him to send the money to her father.

After that, they could plan their escape. At these thoughts, Zayla confessed,

"Robin, I’m sorry but I am not the one who saved your life."

Chapter 233: Chapter 233 – Can’t you see that she’s pregnant?

"Robin, I’m sorry but I am not the one who saved your life."

Robin pretended to be shocked, to not make it known that he already knew but the guests whom he made the judges were mad.

They kept scolding Zayla among themselves,

"Miss Chance is so evil. She lied to Mr. Jewel and ruined his marriage. I bet the pregnancy is not even his," somebody said from the audience, Robin’s lips stretched a little but Zayla’s heart rate picked up speed again, feeling like the audience was going to crucify her.

"I wish Miss James was the one pregnant for Mr. Jewel. He’s so pitiful," another person sympathized and Robin was excited that Sabrina was not only pregnant for him but also carrying twins.

He did not have any intention of mentioning it to the public and only planned to wait until the twins were born.

"Miss Chance deserves to rot in jail," another person said, both Zayla and her father wished that Robin did not hear that, for it to influence his decision concerning Zayla.

"Poor Miss James. I wonder what Mr. Jewel must have done to her because of Miss Chance," somebody else said.

Sabrina felt all the memories coming back but forced a smile, happy that Zayla was finally exposed.

Kennedy was already shaking from fear but the slap was one he could not forget in a hurry, for which reason he did not attempt to escape as he had planned earlier.

"If it’s not you, then who?" Robin asked, wondering if Sabrina would be bold enough to finally own up to the kindness, she showed him.

Whereas, knowing that Sabrina did not want anyone to know by then, Zayla wished there was a way to keep the truth hidden, and forgetting that the bodyguard was around, she lied.

"I...I don’t know," she stammered.

Robin winked at the bodyguard and when his palm came into contact with her face from behind her, she toppled over her chair and fell, seeing stars.

"I told you that I’m trained to hit women. Don’t try telling any lies again," the bodyguard warned coldly, tears rained down Zayla’s already crimsoned cheeks and ears from the slaps.

One slap from this bodyguard was as if it came from four men summed up together.

Her father was greatly pained but felt helpless that he could not help his daughter.

However, Sabrina could still not keep her heart of compassion in check and rebuked the bodyguard without a second thought,

"Can’t you see that she’s pregnant?"

Robin looked away, surprised by her utterance and wondering how she was going to feel if she discovered the other facts.

Everyone was shocked including Zayla but she only felt even more ashamed that after all that she did to Sabrina, she still spoke up for her.

However, it still did not wipe out the fact that Zayla still hated Sabrina for always being on the winning side, and always capturing people’s hearts.

"Zayla, who saved my life?" Robin asked again and this time, Zayla lowered her head after she sat back on the chair.

With tears streaming down her cheeks, she pointed at Sabrina,

"It was her."

The auditorium was in an uproar.

"What? Miss James is the one who saved Mr. Jewel’s life. How come Mr. Jewel mistook her for Miss Chance?" Somebody asked loudly enough to be heard even without the microphone.

The waiters had even stopped serving drinks, their interest piquing in this matter of great shock.

"Unbelievable that Miss Chance rode on the glory of Miss James. I wish to know how it all happened," another person said.

"Miss James is a very good woman," someone else mentioned.

Their comments gave Robin the confidence that making them the judges was the right thing.

He could not allow the rumors to continue about his divorce and relationship with Zayla.

People had to know the facts, so they would understand him and also debunk all of Zayla’s public interviews from before.

As Sabrina kept hearing the comments, she was displeased since she did want anyone to know about the truth and said,

"I didn’t save his life."

Robin was so depressed that she still did not want to admit it, which meant that if he had not seen the letter, then he would have continued to be fooled by Zayla because of Sabrina’s secret but asked Zayla,

"How did you know it was her? Did you not say before that you did not know her when I sent you to the villa?"

Zayla was a crying mess, she was bawling like a baby and replied,

"It’s true that I don’t know her."

She felt she was going to receive another slap and quickly added,

"Wait."

Since the cat was already out of the bag, there was no need to hide it anymore but also, perhaps if Robin knew how much she loved him, He might understand.

"I mean, we were not particularly friends."

"That is a lie Zayla," Sabrina interrupted, shaking her head at the thought that Zayla was still not repentant, having the audacity to lie to everybody else.

The general and Cobby were surprised at the way things turned out and could not blame Robin too much anymore since all along, he was only trying to show kindness to the woman whom he thought to have saved his life.

Sabrina felt the need to explain the details of her friendship with Zayla.

"You were my best friend for a short time, yes, but I cherished you because I never really made friends so I loved you."

"We even ate together from the same plate at most times through our period of friendship and I told you all my secrets," Sabrina revealed, only her family did not express shock because they already knew that part.

Matilda was happy for Zayla’s betrayal because if not, Sabrina would not have accepted her friendship but the audience could still not hold in their shock.

"So, Miss Chance and Miss Jewel were best friends and Miss Chance stabbed Miss James in the back. How vile?" Another person from the audience spoke but Zayla felt that she had to explain the whole truth to them.

Chapter 234: Chapter 234 - You love him or his money?

"That is what you think but that is not the truth," Zayla said and Sabrina was confused, asking,

"What are you talking about?"

"I didn’t learn about Robin from you," Zayla looked at Sabrina and said, knowing that the truth was going to hurt her badly because though Sabrina considered her as a friend, Zayla did not see Sabrina as such.

"That is another lie," Sabrina said seriously, her expression grim.

For as long as she was concerned, she poured her heart into her friendship with Zayla.

"It’s true Sabrina, I only got close to you because of him. Because his father and yours were friends, you already had access to him," Zayla revealed, Sabrina froze, as she slowly took in Zayla’s painful words.

"So, all this while, you used me?"

Pain registered in Sabrina’s eyes as she asked, wondering how things got so bad. How could she not have known or seen it?

It was a simple truth that Sabrina trusted Zayla when the latter was only using her as a stepping stone to reach Robin.

"Every woman would do anything for the man he loves," Zayla lowered her head and spoke, Sabrina shook her head in disagreement but was so hurt by the pain that she did not utter a word.

"Do you love him or his money?" Matilda interrupted and asked in annoyance.

She had wanted to go and greet her father before this whole thing began but it was so fast that everybody was just forced to stay and listen.

However, she was greatly annoyed with Zayla, because of how she had been the invisible manipulating force in Sabrina’s marriage, even before she reappeared in Robin’s life again.

Zayla was not afraid of Matilda, as she was of Sabrina because of Robin.

Also, everything she was saying did not directly involve Matilda but only Sabrina.

Devin was happy to see Zayla in this mess and was enjoying the show, sipping wine whilst everybody else lost their appetite.

He was just waiting for the interesting part about Zayla’s pregnancy and was beginning to like Robin even more, especially after knowing that Robin was just a victim of circumstance and Sabrina was subtly a part of the problem.

If she had not let Zayla in on her secrets, she would not have taken advantage of it and also, for being too gullible in her youth.

"I don’t care if you believe me but everything I did was because I loved him," Zayla said to Matilda.

Robin wanted to gag, thinking of the stupid love she claimed to feel for him.

"Why don’t you tell us the full story, Zayla?" Robin asked her expressionlessly, as he sat back in his chair.

Since the bodyguard was trained to stand for long hours, he remained on his feet, waiting for Robin’s orders.

Zayla directed her answers directly to Robin.

"You might not remember me but I always tried to get your attention and yet, you won’t even look at me. You would easily give other girls attention but did not even know that we lived in the same neighborhood."

It was clear to the audience that Robin never liked Zayla from the onset, as everybody paid close attention to her confession without interruption.

"Every girl loved you and you were always everywhere but when I stopped seeing you around, going to school, or coming back, I grew worried. I wanted to come to your house but I didn’t have access."

Robin could guess that was when his kidney problem worsened.

At first, with the amount of money his family had, he had no doubt he was going to get a donor soon, taking his medications, and not worrying that things would get worse until he was given a timeline of one week.

His zeal for school died as to why he would continue going to school when he was going to die anyway.

He would rather spend the remaining days of his life away from the public’s eyes to not be missed by them.

At that crucial time of his life, Zayla appeared in his living room like an angel when he was watching TV and said that he would be fine.

At that time, he wanted to send her away but she quickly spoke about his condition and how she had to find her way to him because she wanted to give him her kidney since they had the same blood group.

That was the first time she and Robin spoke but he still could not understand one thing,

"So how did you manage to come to my house that day?" Robin asked.

"That was after I befriended Sabrina for a few weeks or a month, precisely. She was the one who told me about your condition and said that she was going to give you her kidney."

"I was afraid that if she did, you would feel indebted to her and love her because she saved your life so when she said that she would not tell you until you fell in love with her, I took advantage of it and came to meet you."

Zayla forced a bitter smile, finding it difficult to believe that after everything, her cup got filled so quickly.

Whereas, she had no choice but to continue her confession.

"That day, I knew she was coming to see you since she said she was going to tell you how in love she was with you so I told the security that she called me to come."

"She was like family to you, so as soon as I mentioned her name, I was let in. When I told you that I was going to give you my kidney, you were happy and hugged me."

Zaya remembered that day. It was the first time she mastered courage to speak to him and just as expected, he welcomed her into his life because she promised to give him her kidney.

Sabrina was surprised because the scene looked as if they were making out and her heart broke into pieces, thinking that Robin and Zayla were going out or something.

It was such a shame that she left that day with her mind filled with those thoughts but was happy that she still decided to save his life and Robin still had some puzzling questions...

Chapter 235: Chapter 235 – Sabrina’s wish

Before Robin asked, Zayla continued to speak,

"That day, she saw us and left, probably thinking there was something between us. You didn’t see her and she also didn’t know that I set it up to keep her from you."

She swallowed the saliva that was choking her because of the tears and began to round up,

"That day also marked the end of my fake friendship with Sabrina but I didn’t care about her anymore because I already got what I wanted. I’m sorry."

Her confession increased Robin’s guilt for the way he treated Sabrina when all she did was love him unconditionally but the question jolting his mind was still not answered so he asked,

"So why did you leave if you intended to have me?"

To the best of his understanding, she should have stayed to claim him since she already removed Sabrina from the picture.

Zayla laughed bitterly. How she wished that Robin’s father had been the one to die in place of her mother or better still, both of them.

If that had happened, she would have been married to Robin and all this would not have happened since Sabrina had already given up after the kidney donation.

She also did not intend to tell Robin so if Robin had married Zayla, then that would have been the end of everything.

"Your father knew the truth that Sabrina was the one who saved your life and he warned me that if I ever came close to you again, he would tell you, even if he ended up breaking Sabrina’s promise to keep it secret," Zayla revealed and Sabrina went into deep thought.

She had no idea that Robin’s father had even found out about Zayla.

If only he had told her, she would have known what to do then but now, it was too late.

After tasting Robin’s heartlessness, she could not consider going back to him.

Zayla destroyed their relationship for good, all because Sabrina considered her a friend.

Reaching for something to moisten her dry throat, she reached for a glass of champagne but Devin took it from her before it reached his mouth and ordered one of the waiters to get her orange juice.

Due to her nausea, orange juice was always a great relief for her.

Thinking that Zayla was done with her confession, Sabrina heard her saying,

"He did not sponsor me to leave. My father did and I only returned after I heard that he passed away."

"After meeting you again, I was heartbroken that you got married to Sabrina but since you were still nice to me, I figured that she still had not told you the truth and that was how I planned getting back into your life."

Even as Zayla kept shedding tears, no one had any atom of pity for her but Sabrina was so raged after realizing that Zayla had manipulated her so much, she yelled in a hoarse voice since her throat dried up from the shock and the orange juice had not arrived.

"I wish you were not pregnant Zayla, I would have taught you a lesson," Sabina said in a teary voice, unable to control her emotions anymore after everything she heard but then again, she got suspicious and asked whilst wiping her tears,

"So, all this while, you were the snake in our marriage? Are you sure that your pregnancy belongs to Robin?" Sarcasm laced her voice as she asked.

Her orange juice arrived at the same time and she gulped it all down before hearing Zayla saying the words that caused immense pain in her heart.

"Yes. The child is his," Zayla spoke solemnly since Robin had no idea about how that night happened.

Robin felt it was time to move to the next level since he did not want his pregnant ex-wife to end up having high blood pressure because of a blatant lie.

He was also happy to see Sabrina’s gynecologist among the guests, which meant that she honored Robin’s invitation.

At least they had a doctor on call if something happened.

"Stand up," Robin said to Zayla and she was confused, not obliging until he repeated, "I said, stand up."

When she obeyed, he looked among the people present and saw the person he was looking for.

"Please come here, Aria, and bring what I told you about."

Aria walked to him with the scissors in her hand, making everybody including her husband wonder what she was going to use the scissors for, as they kept murmuring among themselves.

Well, Aria herself did not know about Robin’s plans for the scissors.

"Sir?" Aria called out behind Robin who turned around, stared at her, and instructed,

"Cut her dress around the stomach region."

"Robin, what has gotten into you," Kennedy yelled.

He was smart enough to figure out that Robin had found out about the pregnancy and was going to destroy their last stronghold.

For this reason, he tried to cause a distraction but when he received the second slap, he fainted on the floor, and no one bothered to attend to him for now.

Zayla could feel her body temperature increase from fear, as she saw her father unconscious, feeling that she was alone among vampires, who were thirsty for her blood.

She tried to prevent Aria from touching her, by moving away and heading to try to wake her father when the bodyguard pulled her roughly to stand still.

The media houses present were speechless, only recording and lacking the energy to speak about Zayla’s evil ways.

Robin was getting upset with Aria’s reluctance to do as he had instructed and issued a warning,

"Aria, I don’t want to repeat myself."

Aria pursed her lips nervously, held the dress, and began to cut around the stomach region.

At first, everyone thought it was Zayla’s stomach when the fabric of her shredded party dress dropped until Robin hinted,

"You are five months pregnant and she claims to be four months pregnant. Check if it’s real."

Zayla paled and her face, which had already received two slaps, looked scary from the swelling.

However, Sabrina felt like something else was going to happen and her attention was captured.
