Ch. 66..70: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 66-70
Chapter 66: Chapter 66 – Sabrina slapped Zayla
Zayla saw the perfect opportunity when Martin walked to their table and decided to give Sabrina her peace of mind. After giving her seat freely to Martin, she walked over to Sabrina’s table and sat without asking for her permission.
"I did not permit you to sit," Sabrina said sternly. She did not care that Martin had sat on Zayla’s chair. Zayla could sit anywhere but Sabrina could not share the same table with her. Zayla shushed her disrespectfully,
"Stop being impolite. Can’t you see there are just four chairs? I was the one whose privacy was invaded." Now that Robin was not close to her, she had no reason to be polite toward Sabrina.
Sabrina gritted her teeth in annoyance at her insolence.
"You know what Zayla, even with the bastard in your womb, you would only live your life as a pathetic woman."
Zayla frowned because Sabrina’s words hurt her deeply, for the fact that she was really pathetic. However, she could not accept it when she had the hopes that things would change for the better.
"That message should be for you, Sabrina, you’re the loser here."
"Is that what you think? Being with a man who fucks anything in skirt?" Sabrina laughed and said, "Zayla, I easily left him for you because he was not worth fighting for. He has money but lacks commitment and I know that you are not happy being engaged to him."
Sabrina’s words stung Zayla, her eyes were teary but she blinked them back, disallowing them to fall. Since Sabrina did not regret leaving Robin, she should not mind giving her the villa.
"At least he offered you good money but you chose the villa."
Sabrina recalled how Zayla had wanted the Zayla that night and how she mentioned it again at the restaurant. The corner of her lips curled up and she said,
"Because I love the villa and I do not need anything else."
"Sell it to me," Zayla proposed seriously and Sabrina smiled whiles she asked,
"And where would you get the money to pay? From Robin or your father’s dead company?"
Sabrina had only heard about the company from Matilda and did not know the facts but the look on Zayla’s face said it all. It was true that her father’s company was dead.
"Where I get the money from does not matter. Will you sell it?"
"Yes," Sabrina smiled and said, Zayla was elated.
Finally, she could get back the diamonds hidden in the villa and if Sabrina wanted to sell it, then she did not know about it. She was already jubilating about how excited her father would be to receive the keys to the villa.
"How much?" She asked eagerly, ready to tell Robin to sell the new villa he was building and buy this one for her instead. Sabrina maintained her smile at her childish excitement and said,
"Five hundred trillion dollars." Seeing how Zayla paled, she stretched her hand toward her and said,
"Here, pay up and it’s all yours."
Zayla knew that Sabrina was mocking her. She had no intention to sell the villa and her hopes died. She also felt humiliated by what Sabrina just did and shook her head whiles blinking back her tears,
"Sabrina, you are so evil. That villa is not worth up to 100 million."
"But it’s worth trillions for me," Sabrina laughed and spoke before asking again,"So, are you going to pay up or stop wasting my time?"
Zayla shook her head with disappointment, "I see how you are desperate for money."
Sabrina was unfazed while she responded, "I never said I need money. It’s the value I put on the villa. Don’t forget my line of profession. I’m a saleswoman, Zayla."
Zayla shook her head. Sabrina was either desperate for money after pretentiously refusing to take Robin’s offer or she knew about the diamonds. She meant to get the answers she was looking for.
"It’s sad that all the men you found after your divorce are nothing compared to Robin."
"Why do you think so?" Sabrina raised her brows and asked mockingly.
"Because you would not be desperate for money if they were. Look at you, Sabrina, you divorced barely a month now and you already fucked two men."
Slap.
Sabrina was so enraged by Zayla’s words that she did not think before her hand moved. Zayla did not expect that Sabrina’s slap would be so painful, her eyes glistened with tears she was forcefully blinking back, as she held her burning cheek,
"How dare you slap me?"
She raised her hand to return the slap but Sabrina caught her hand and slapped her again on the same cheek, it turned red like tomatoes.
Sabrina was not Satisfied. For all the pain Zayla caused her for the home she had so much endured to build, she was about to release the third slap when Robin caught her hand in the air and he was very furious.
"Sabrina, since when did you become violent? Don’t you know that she’s pregnant?"
Robin did not care much about Zayla but the child in her womb. He wasn’t ready to take chances and lose his child but Sabrina was equally furious.
She expected Robin to be smart enough to ask about what had happened and not jump to conclusions. Pulling her hand away violently, she asked coldly,
"What makes you think that I care about whatever is growing inside her womb, Robin?" She stared him in the eyes daringly and spat, "This is all your fault."
Robin looked lost. He reacted to what he saw and hastened to stop her before she further abused his child’s mother so how was it his fault? Bottling up his anger, he asked her seriously,
"Why do you blame me when you are the one hitting her?"
Sabrina rose from her chair and gazed at him intently. Her eyes had turned red and glassy but it was all overshadowed with loathing for Robin.
"The only mistake I ever made was loving you, and now, all I feel for you is hate," Sabrina said and stormed out with Martin running to catch up with her.
Chapter 67: Chapter 67 – Robin’s anger towards Zayla
No matter how Robin tried to deny it, Sabrina’s words stirred up something inside of him. Something that told him that he had offended her badly.
For the three years Sabrina was married to him, she never complained about anything. She kept his home and made her body available every time he wanted it.
This was the first time she spoke to him with so much hate and anger, it made Robin feel a pain in his heart. Zayla had seen the change in Robin’s appearance that he was affected by Sabrina’s words and quickly allowed the tears to fall, giving her a pitiful look.
This was the first time after the villa incident that Robin had ever stood up for her against his ex-wife and she had to take advantage of it.
"Zayla, what happened?"
Robin held her two hands and pulled her up. Seeing her reddened cheeks, he was furious but did not know whether it was against Sabrina or himself. In the end, he wrapped his arm comfortingly around her.
Zayla snuggled closer to his chest and said through sobs,
"I just told her the truth and she hit me."
"What truth?" Robin asked whilst stroking Zayla’s hair. Her heart leaped, as excitement cruised through her.
She felt that Robin cared about her so she said without thinking much,
"At first, I asked her to sell me the villa because I wanted my kids to grow there and she said she’ll only sell it for 500 trillion dollars."
She wanted Robin to think of his ex-wife as a gold-digger but hearing about the villa again, Robin frowned a little but did not pull away.
He already knew that Sabrina would not sell the villa and for whatever she wanted to do with it, he did not care.
"Then what happened?" He asked Zayla.
"I mentioned that..." Zayla sobbed.
"That what? And don’t lie to me," Robin pulled away and looked at her with an intense but soft gaze.
Zayla feared a little but also reminded herself to use it as an opportunity to remind him that he need not feel pity for Sabrina because she was not worth it.
"I...I just reminded her of her lifestyle after the divorce."
"Which is?" Robin tried to remain calm, already guessing that Zayla must have crossed her limits again. She just could not stay away from trouble and he knew it quite well.
"Fucking two men and she slapped me."
Robin’s gaze turned cold and his hand that was still comfortingly resting on her shoulders dropped. No wonder Sabrina was so upset and Robin only made matters worse by jumping to conclusions.
It was unlike him but at the moment, all he thought about was the child in Zayla’s womb, for which reason he lost control.
"How dare you tell that to her?"
Zayla saw how his expression changed and anger welled up in her heart again. It was heart-wrenching that Robin always defended his ex-wife.
"But it’s the truth. Did she not date two men already?" Zayla insisted innocently, trying to create the impression that Sabrina was a loose woman.
Robin did not want to tell her about his findings but this was the second time Zayla made such an indecent remark about Sabrina and he did not like it, for which reason he was forced to explain,
"Sabrina did not date anyone. The guy you claimed to have slapped you in the washroom is her half-brother and she and Martin are only fake dating because she wants to make me upset. Sabrina is a decent woman."
Robin’s words were a bit rushed because he was upset so Zayla took her time to break them down. She knew Sabrina from before, when they were kids but she never told Zayla about her half-brother.
Also, fake dating? Martin looked like he was in love with Sabrina so Zayla did not believe Robin’s words. Feeling that he had been misinformed, she thought it right to correct him,
"Robin, it’s not true. She is lying to you."
Robin pursed her lips and shook his head. No wonder Sabrina slapped Zayla. He could not blame her anymore since Zayla never thought about the child in her womb before doing anything. Because if she did, she would not go around creating messes for him to clean up.
Then again, he recalled when Daniel told him about Zayla and Sabrina being friends before so he thought to ask, "I think you know her better than I do."
Zayla realized that she had given herself away and quickly nodded her head, "No. I only saw her when you took me to the villa."
Robin trusted Daniel’s detailed information, feeling that Zayla was lying to him so he insisted, "Zayla, I know that you and Sabrina were friends before."
"No, how could I be friends with her? I never knew her. Besides, a woman who said directly that she easily left you for me because you were not worth fighting for?"
Zayla saw as Robin’s gaze darkened and she smiled a little at her success. ’You keep defending her but she doesn’t care about you,’ she said in her mind.
"I think we should leave now," Robin clenched his teeth and spoke. Zayla was disappointed that their romantic dinner was ruined and she was not ready to leave yet. They had to have that dinner tonight.
"What about the food? I’m hungry," she complained innocently.
The waitress quickly brought their takeouts. Robin did not touch it and when Zayla did, he began to walk ahead while she ran to catch up with him.
Robin did not come here to dine like he made it seem. He was only here to mess up Martin’s date with Sabrina and it was also the reason why he bought the hotel.
Coming alone would have made it too suspicious, for which reason he brought Zayla along, telling her that he had a surprise for her.
"Are you upset with me?" Zayla asked after getting tired of Robin’s indifference but he did not answer.
"Robin, please understand that pregnant women are prone to depression and it can make us act and do silly stuff sometimes."
Using the pregnancy was a brilliant idea because it caught Robin’s attention, as he glanced at her whilst driving but from the question he asked her, she regretted trying to grab his attention.
Chapter 68: Chapter 68 – Matilda’s probing.
"Tell me Zayla, why did you not tell my father that you saved my life when he was forcing you to leave for Europe?"
Zayla froze and her silence mode was instantly activated. When she saw that Robin was getting impatient, she smiled and said,
"Darling, he might think I was only doing it to be close to you. I did it from my heart and no one had to know about it."
Robin’s expression was unreadable so Zayla could not tell if he believed her or not. He went on to say,
"My father would not have sent you away if he knew that you were the anonymous donor. But why did you not tell me before leaving for Europe?" He asked again.
Zayla’s expression changed instantly and the next moment, her fingers clasped her stomach,
"Robin, I don’t feel too good. I need rest. I’ve been battered and I’m exhausted."
Robin frowned and worry creased his brows.
"Let’s go to the hospital."
When it was about the baby in her womb, he did not want to take chances. That child was his only confirmed hope of having an heir to inherit his fortune.
At the mention of the hospital, Zayla felt uneasy and quickly smiled,
"No. Just some rest and I will be fine."
At Devin’s penthouse
"Sabrina, you still have not told me what happened," Martin asked calmly. He was worried and had parked the car after driving in silence till they got back to the penthouse. He was slightly excited about Sabrina’s timely interruption, which saved him from giving Robin any form of response.
He also had a feeling that Robin was too respectable to reveal his secret to Sabrina. Martin did not immediately unlock the door and Sabrina snapped out of her thoughts before she responded,
"It’s nothing. I will be fine."
Martin was disappointed. He knew that Sabrina was not the violent type so whatever Zayla must have said, must have gotten Sabrina so upset for her to react that way.
"It was our date. You should please tell me," He subtly insisted.
Sabrina felt that he had a point and he was also concerned, thereby summarizing everything for him,
"She called me a whore and I lost control."
Martin grimaced. The nerve of Zayla to refer to Sabrina as such. He sighed and encouraged her,
"You did not lose control. You did the right thing. I’m sorry for not being there to protect you."
Sabrina was still upset, thereby saying,
"Thanks for the date. I have to go now."
"I will walk you to the door," Martin said, unlocked the door, and went around to open it for her. When they opened the door, Devin was surprised to see them arrive early with Sabrina’s soiled mood.
"What happened to her?"
Devin was looking at Sabrina but his question was directed at Martin, who subtly responded,
"Zayla called her a whore and she slapped the bitch."
"Good one so why is her mood like this?" Devin asked again, looking even more disturbed.
He was not expecting them to return so early and neither did he expect to see Sabrina looking upset.
"It’s Robin. We should talk later," Martin said and closed the door.
He was afraid of Devin asking so many questions including how he was not there beside Sabrina.
Too many questions could easily cause him to either tell another lie or spit the truth, which would be brutal.
"What did Robin do?" Devin asked Sabrina and she burst into tears whiles cursing,
"I hate him. I hate him so much. I hate him with all my heart."
Martin heard it from behind the door and a smile formed on his face as he walked to his car.
Since Sabrina hated Robin now, she would not give him the chance to say anything about Mara, even if he wanted to.
"Brina, what is going on?"
Matilda descended the stairs and pulled Sabrina into her arms. She did not intend to sleep until Sabrina returned so her ears had been attentive to any sounds coming from downstairs.
Sabrina was just sobbing and did not say a word but Matilda was patient. She kept stroking her hair until Sabrina calmed down and narrated everything to them.
After Sabrina’s narration, Matilda had two questions in mind and asked,
"Why does she want that villa when Robin could easily give her another one and why did Martin go to talk to Robin about the fact that he had to swap chairs with Zayla?"
Sabrina thought deeply about both questions before she responded,
"I don’t know what she wants with the villa but Robin’s dad made me swear to not let Robin have it. As for Martin, I did not ask him what he went to talk about with Robin."
"I think you should. What if Robin was already upset? And what if his concern was because you hit a pregnant woman?" Matilda asked all at once.
She was afraid of Mara hurting Sabrina, for which reason she did not want Sabrina to break contact with Robin but she could not say it directly.
She was grateful for Martin’s help in bringing her out of her father’s caged mansion but was also concerned about the safety of her best friend.
"Pregnant or not, if she can’t tame her dirty mouth, then she would have to be taught a good lesson,"
Devin said seriously. It seemed to him that Zayla did not learn his lesson from the last time.
"You have a point Devin but don’t you think Sabrina deserves to know what Martin discussed with Robin?" Matilda punched on that aspect once again.
Devin did not see anything wrong in finding out so he told Sabrina,
"Brina, call him and find out."
Sabrina nodded her head and dialed Martin’s number. He answered it on the first ring since he was worried sick, thinking that something must have happened to her.
"Sabrina, is everything alright?"
"Yes, everything is fine. I was just curious. What were you discussing with Robin? You took quite a while, you know?"
Chapter 69: Chapter 69 – Mara’s obsessive love disorder
Martin’s hand on the steering wheel tightened since he had connected the call to his dashboard before answering it.
Lacking the words to explain without getting caught, he smiled a little before responding,
"Sabrina, it was nothing important, just a baseless argument I had with him about his reason for paying for our food. No matter how I accused him, he denied making a mistake."
Sabrina was displeased. She expected to hear something tangible. If it was just about the food, then Martin should not have swapped seats with Zayla, knowing how her presence nauseated Sabrina.
"Oh, I thought it was something important. Please let me know when you get home."
"Sure, I will."
Martin released a breath he did not know he was holding when the call ended. Sensing the disappointment in Sabrina’s voice, he was saddened but was also grateful for escaping her many questions and being caught.
Sabrina relayed everything Martin said to Devin and Matilda. Devin believed what Martin said but Matilda didn’t.
When Martin reached home, he merely informed Sabrina when his phone rang. It was Mara and his heart thumped a little that she had woken up.
He refused to answer, going to his room to change into his pajamas and disheveling his hair before going to her room.
"Mara, why are you awake?" He asked with concern. If Mara had sleepless nights, it affected her mood.
She slept on a huge orthopedic bed with other things to support her paralysis. She could move her upper body but her waist to her legs was paralyzed.
Her bed was a special one that supported her disadvantages, helping her movements. Thus, though she was paralyzed, she lived quite normally.
She worked a lot on her laptop and had everything at her disposal in her gigantic room.
"Where did you go, Martin?"
Mara’s tone was sore. She wanted her brother to herself. It was some kind of obsessive love disorder no one knew about.
When they were young, it started as erotomania, where she felt that Martin loved no one else but her.
Growing up and seeing Martin’s longing for the young Sabrina, Mara was no longer a case of erotomania but rather obsessive love disorder.
She could not stand Martin giving anyone else attention but her.
"I’ve been in my room sleeping. Your call woke me," Martin lied.
It was the only way to appease Mara and keep Sabrina safe but Mara did not believe him.
"You are lying to me Martin and it’s because of her."
Martin swallowed tightly, wondering if Mara had someone following him but then again, she knew no one. Or, was there anything about what happened tonight on the news, Martin highly doubted it.
"What nonsense are you talking about? How are you feeling? Do you want me to change your position?"
He sat on a chair beside her and looked at her worriedly.
His sister was the biggest trouble in his life but he loved her still. If he found ways to put her mind at peace, they could both be happy.
"No. Just lay down beside me," Mara said with a smile.
"Okay," Martin smiled back and lay beside her. Most times, they would lay on the bed like this, watching TV or discussing random stuff so Martin felt that Mara had missed him a lot to request for something like this. Never did he expect what was coming.
"Come closer, Martin, you are too far away," Mara complained.
Martin shifted closer and she held his hand. They both lay on their back, gazing at the giant chandelier above them.
"So, tell me where you went. I can feel your heartbeat. It’s too fast for a person who just woke from sleep," Mara observed and spoke, Martin’s hand instinctively tightened around hers.
It was not strange that Mara was very sensitive. She studied her brother’s temperature every time he was with her and she always took note of his appearance every day.
She would spot any abnormality. Martin’s lips pressed together and he thought about a good excuse.
"Because I got panicked when I saw your call."
His gaze remained on the chandelier above, so Mara would not see his facial expression but there was more coming.
"But that perfume. You only use it on special occasions."
Martin’s heart rate escalated even more. It was the time he run from the garage to his room and changed up very quickly that she caught the change in his heartbeat but what about the perfume? Martin was not afraid of Mara because he knew she could not hurt him.
He was only afraid because of Sabrina. Mara had still not gotten over the fact that Sabrina survived the fire when she woke up from her comatose state and realized she was paralyzed.
She tried to finish what she started but Devin was already looking for her so she had to lie low.
When she got the chance to strike years again later, Sabrina had gotten married to Robin and was under his protection.
Mara feared Robin more than anyone on Earth. The fact that the man had no love in his heart meant that he could hurt anyone badly if he wanted to.
Therefore, she tried other means to get Sabrina away from him, which did not work until recently. Now that Mara has gotten the chance to strike again, her brother’s hope in having Sabrina returned and she sensed a big problem.
"I can still use it at any time I want," Martin said seriously. He did not know what was going through his sister’s mind but when she responded with an
"Okay,"
He thought that things were fine and she would leave the matter to rest but the next moment, she asked again,
"So, when are you going to give her the next agreement?"
Martin frowned deeply. Going by Mara’s plans, Sabrina would hate him if she finds out but if he refused, then Sabrina might get hurt because Mara, would attack again.
Chapter 70: Chapter 70 – How could he know about my existence?
Martin felt miserable, not understanding the reason why his love story should be so painful after waiting for so many years to have the only woman he ever wanted.
"We agreed on Monday," he said in annoyance and Mara smiled before she revealed,
"I will wait till then but Martin, I have someone following you."
Martin froze again but this time, he recovered and turned to the side to look at his sister. She did not look like she was joking and Martin wondered whether she began to contact people from outside. Perhaps it was the reason why Robin found her out.
"Mara, why will you do that and who have you been communicating with? Don’t forget that Devin is still thirsty for your blood. He vows to do the same thing you did to Sabrina to you. Please be careful, Mara. You are my only family."
Mara smiled. Every time Martin spoke like this, her heart regained its lost warmth. If only he could forget Sabrina and stay only by her side, they would live happily ever after.
"That is why Laura is my nurse. I told her to follow you. I was not asleep when you left my room so where did you go?" Mara confessed and asked.
Martin had no control over Laura. She only obeyed Mara because Mara had threatened to destroy her family if she did otherwise.
Knowing he had been found out with no way out, Martin said truthfully, but sarcastically,
"I had a date with Sabrina but the good news is, Robin was there to ruin it for us."
"Him?"
Mara paled instantly. Why would Robin ruin his ex-wife’s date? Mara did not understand. The fact that Martin secretly went on a date with Sabrina abhorred her but that was quickly overshadowed by the fears of why Robin did not want his ex-wife to move on.
Mara felt like all her plans were falling into the drain even before they began to materialize. Martin rolled back to his back after seeing the frightened look on his sister’s face.
This time, he was not ready to comfort her or make her feel better.
"Yes, and lucky for you, he bought the hotel a few days back so he could embarrass me. Moreso, he told me to stay away from Sabrina."
Mara was quiet for a long time. If Robin’s only request was for Martin to stay away from Sabrina, then she did not have a problem with it. Rather, she was elated.
"At least he has the same mind as me."
Martin shook his head and revealed, "Mara, it’s even worse because he knows about you."
Mara was visibly shaken. Her hand holding that of her brother shook violently. If Robin knew about her existence, then it would not be easy for her to get away with any crime she commits. Robin was too powerful to be hidden from.
"Impossible. I told you to wipe everything about me," Mara said in anger, Martin responded calmly,
"I did and the only information about you is where nobody can reach it. However, with the kind of money Robin has, he found you out and he knows that you are dangerous to Sabrina. That was the reason why he warned me to stay away from her. It wasn’t because he wanted to reunite with her."
Martin turned to his side again after a long silence ensued between them and saw a tear slide down from Mara’s eyes. She wiped it with her left hand before saying with determination,
"No. How could he know about my existence?" She asked seriously.
It was impossible because she never went out. Except for that one time. She could not tell Martin about it or all her plans would be ruined.
"I was surprised too," Martin said. Now he was sure that Mara would lie low, rather than spying on him.
"So, are you going to stay away from her? You have to get her to sign the remaining two documents," Mara said, surprising Martin that she had not given up.
"Are you sure you still want to do this?" Martin asked seriously, not believing that Mara was still going ahead with the plan even with Robin’s involvement.
Mara had it planned out. If she physically attacked Sabrina, then she’ll be in trouble but if she made the wrong decision and destroyed the company her brother and father worked hard for all these years, then that would be her fault and Mara would not be blamed for it.
"Since I can’t start what I finished, this is my only chance to make her miserable. If she signs the documents, no one would be blamed for her negligence and she would have to suffer the consequences," Mara revealed.
When she did not get a response from Martin immediately, she quickly added,
"That would be enough for me and you can have your freedom too so look at it like hitting two birds with one stone," she concluded with a smile upon seeing a glint in Martin’s eyes.
Hearing Mara talk about giving him his freedom again, something tickled Martin. He could make Sabrina sign the documents but look for another way to help her rebuild the company after Mara signs everything over to him.
Also, he could use the opportunity to force Sabrina to marry him and that would be perfect. With these thoughts, he was ready to go by the plan but then again, would Mara keep her word?
"Are you sure that you will give me my freedom if I complete that mission?" He asked seriously. Mara was happy that he was considering it and smiled but it was coated with bitterness.
The pain from the fact that Martin wanted to be away from her.
"I promise that I will even allow you to marry whoever you want. You can prepare an agreement to it and I will sign," she assured him.
All she wanted was to see Sabrina dead but because of Robin’s interference, she could endure making Sabrina miserable when the news about her company’s fall is broadcasted everywhere.
"Okay, I will get her to sign the remaining documents."
