“Zephyrine.” Princess Mearez called, and I rushed to hug her tightly. Before turning to Princess Serena, I pulled her into another firm embrace. This content belongs to FιndNovel.net
It felt as though this was the first time we had truly seen each other in years. Last night had happened so fast, and I had left far too early. Now, seeing them here at a werewolf event, I couldn’t help but feel grateful. They were here for me. Just for me.
“My baby brother said you’ll be weak when you reject that man,” Princess Serena said, and I almost smiled. By “that man,” I knew she meant Nyroth.
I nodded and turned to Princess Mearez, who had been staring at me in silence. It was as though she carried something heavy in her heart, or perhaps she sensed something within me she had never felt before.
“The aura oozing from you feels stronger than before, Zephyrine,” she finally muttered. I swallowed hard; it was because I am now an Alpha.
Before I could respond, the soft jingling of bells from the priestess ahead announced the start of the rejection ceremony. This was it. After five years of no respect and no affection… this was it.
“Can Blue sit with you?” I asked Princess Mearez, but Princess Serena looked at me in mild confusion.
“Of course. You forget she is a Lycan.”
I smiled and watched my personal maid take her seat gently on the chair. Then I slowly turned my gaze back to the priestess and sighed.
I was about to step forward when Princess Mearez caught my wrist tenderly. I looked at her, curious about her words.
“Thank you for doing this,” she said softly. I searched her eyes, unable to restrain my emotions, and hugged her again.
“It’s for me. Not for Lycannar,” I said before pulling back.
Turning toward the priestess again, I saw Nyroth standing at attention. I set my jaw. Here we go.
I took a step forward but then he began his speech, stopping me in my tracks. Everyone had settled down, and the rejection was about to begin.
I expected him to go straight to the point, but he seemed intent on giving a speech first. I had no issue with that. I would only retaliate if he crossed a line.
I walked to my seat beside Princess Mearez, ready to listen.
“I appreciate everyone here at this gathering tonight,” he began steadily. “As you all know, any werewolf of Hue Pack is mated once in a lifetime. Surely, everyone is wondering why the Alpha of that same pack is willing to reject his mate, bgjgthe mate he was meant to keep for life.”
The hall went silent, all eyes focused on him. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Pamela arriving with Olivia.

“This is all because of my mate… sadly,” he said, wearing a mournful expression. “My mate is a thief.”
Murmurs rippled through the hall. I sat there, confused and curious. A thief? How?
From the corner of my eyes, I saw White Pack glancing my way, but I stayed focused on Nyroth. I wanted to hear every word.
“Five years ago, I met her under a full moon like this one. She was poor, a rogue with no pack, no home. I helped her, sheltered her, and vowed to make her my Luna despite her low status. And what did she do?”
The hall fell silent. Everyone wanted to hear his account of my supposed betrayal.
新
“She cheated on me many times,” he revealed, and murmurs arose again. “Not only that. She is a thief who stole money from a source I do not know. A huge amount, which she used to get on my good side. That was how she crawled into my life. With seduction, bribery, and the mate bond. But that was not why I helped her. No. I cherished her. She is my mate. I did not want her to be homeless and I opened my pack gates for her. But in the end, when she saw a man she thought was better than me, she demanded rejection. I begged. On my knees, politely, with everything I had. But she had made up her mind. That is why I have called upon everyone to witness how I gave her the freedom she always wanted.”
T
Goosebumps prickled my skin as I sat there, staring at him without blinking. For a heartbeat, the world seemed to pause. He had called me a thief because I had given him money. The same money I had sacrificed to save his pack. He had called it bribery, and me a thief. That… was unforgivable.
Slowly, I lowered my gaze and swallowed. With each passing second, anger grew inside me. Anger at myself for sacrificing my parents‘ money for a man who had never seen my worth and never would.
“Come over, Zeph. It’s starting,” Nyroth’s voice finally came, and I swear I could feel it deep in my bones.
The weight of all eyes settled on me. Murmurs and gossip rippled instantly through the hall.
I remained seated for a few more moments before rising to my feet. He wanted to tell the world how he had sheltered me, how I was a rogue? Perhaps it was finally time to tell him the truth.

I walked forward, standing before the sacred statues, feeling the divine presence settle in the hall and before the priestess ready to complete the rite. I stood there, eyes fixed on Nyroth, and somehow only a small smile formed on my lips.
“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” Kaela’s voice came, gentle yet mocking, her eyes hiding behind that same soft, fake expression. “After cheating on him with the Lycan King, you can laugh, can’t you?”
Her words made my smile fade. She had just mentioned Lycannar.
“You stole a huge amount of money, Zeph,” she continued, sounding pitiful as though trying to help. “That’s not good. You’re a thief and a rogue, and yet he’s still trying to help you. I’m sure the Lycan King won’t…”
“Stop.” I snapped, setting my jaw to maintain composure. Hot, deadly calm, I glared at her. “Keep Lycannar’s name out of your mouth. You don’t want me to get started.”
Her eyes widened in challenge, and she chuckled dryly.
“Oh really? Get you started? First, to squeeze yourself into Nyroth’s life, you stole a huge amount of money from who knows where, to gift him? Then you were rude every second and minute to his mother and sister? And when you stepped into the Lycan Kingdom, you seduced the Lycan King and demanded rejection from your poor mate? Is that how you want to get started, Zeph?”
“Even now, you still won’t change your ways or regret it?” Pamela, Nyroth’s mother, said from where she sat. “After all the monstrous things you’ve done, you still won’t make amends or apologize?”
Olivia glared from where she sat, and I felt it. I could no longer ignore it. The hall fell immediately silent, all eyes including those of the Lycan Princesses on me. Surely they didn’t know the full story. Only the Dusk household knew me from childhood until now.
I nodded and looked at Nyroth.
“You said I stole a huge amount of money to crawl into your life? Why didn’t you tell them that money was used to revive your dying pack?”
Murmurs rose up, and he glared at me without blinking.
“That doesn’t forgive the fact that you stole it from somewhere, you thief,” he spat. “I just never asked about the source because I didn’t want to embarrass you. Judging by how skillfully you killed that rogue in that duel, it’s plain you’re a robber trained for monstrous things like this…”
“I trained for battle,” I interrupted quietly, and he paused. “From childhood, as the only daughter of my father, I bore the burden of living as both a graceful daughter and a warrior.”
Silence fell again, deafening this time. Nyroth stared at me before scoffing.
“Now you’re telling more lies to cover your crimes. You are…”
“That money you claim I stole was from my parents‘ death. It’s compensation for the last battle they fought that claimed their lives,” I said, the tension rising, sadness creeping into my bones. “If I had known you and

your mistress would come to mock me with it, I would have let your pack rot in poverty and rejected you five years ago, immediately when I set eyes on you and felt the mate bond.”
Our eyes locked, and I saw something stirring in him, but I didn’t focus on that. Instead, I turned to the guests he had invited to mock me.
“Alpha Nyroth of Hue Pack has been my fated mate for five years. While he gave me shelter, I was never once homeless. When I struggled to revive that dead pack, now thriving, he was dreaming and lusting over another woman.”
I nodded and shrugged.
“I get it. Once, I thought it impossible. But now I understand you can be mated to a man yet never feel connected to him as you do with another.”
“Now you’re quoting to justify cheating on him?” Kaela accused, and I spared her only a glance.
“You, of all people, shouldn’t mention cheating when you’re a wrecker of homes and bonds,” I glared harder, shrugging again. “But I should thank you for coming into his life. If not for your escapades, I wouldn’t have known right from wrong. I would have endured endlessly but luckily, I met someone more charming and caring than he could ever be.”
“Zeph…” Nyroth began, but I turned to him, jaw set.
“Let’s get this over with. Not in this lifetime or another do I ever want anything with you.”
Silence descended on the hall. Bitterly, he set his jaw, and the divine grace swirled around us.
“I, Nyroth Hue, reject you, Zephyrine, tonight as my mate and future Luna,” he said but nothing happened. No flicker of light, no divine sign. Even the building’s divine wind died down. He turned to the priestess, who bowed slightly.
“Her last name must be included for the rite to complete,” she said.
“She has no last name!” Nyroth gritted, obviously furious. “She is a whore, a thief, an orphan… a rogue…”

“She is an Alpha.” The voice came from behind, cold enough to freeze the hall. Every eye turned to see Jurrek Bane standing at the entrance, scroll in hand, angry and resolute.
He walked forward, eyes locked on Nyroth.
“She is an Alpha. Not just that. She is an Ashmere. Goddess of war. One who saved us all from the demon invasion. You will learn to bow and pay respect.”
Everything shifted. Nyroth turned to stare at me, pale and speechless, unable to believe what he’d heard.
“What nonsense,” he murmured. “You are…”
“Zephyrine Ashmere,” I said, unwavering. “The only daughter of the last warlord in the Shifter Empire, daughter of War General Seraphine, and younger sister of the best war strategist Varyn. I am the first female Alpha ever in history. Alpha of Ash Pack. War commander on the battlefield. And today, I stand before you, Nyroth Hue, Alpha of Hue Pack, to reject you as my mate and future husband.”
Everything went still. I could hear a pin drop. The divine wind followed, settling into the hall. Bells jingled

“I… Nyroth Hue… reject you… Zephyrine A… Ash… mere as my mate and future Luna,” he stuttered, testing if it would work.
Before the words died, my wolf stirred, weighing down on me like a heavy burden. Pain radiated through my heart and soul. I bowed my head, trying to contain it, but the agony was unbearable.
I went down but Jurrek was fast, holding me protectively, keeping me safe as my bones shifted and reformed. My wolf growled low, agonizing, and emerged before all.
The magnitude of the white wolf, power and aura undeniable, radiated like an Alpha.
Now No secrets remained.
Before my wolf’s eyes closed, I saw Nyroth pale, awed by who I truly was and recognizing at last that I am indeed the same white wolf who had saved him years ago.

“Oh, please. If baby brother returns from the steel room and finds his woman in bed, even we both will pay for it.” Princess Serena’s voice came, and I stirred gently.
Fluttering my eyelids open, I found myself staring at the candle chandeliers above, warmth from the bed chamber enveloping me pleasantly.
The scent here was different, more comforting than anything I could have imagined. It almost felt like the afterlife. Wait…
“Is she…” I heard footsteps approaching. My goodness, she’s awake!” Original content can be found at
I blinked and looked up
“My gods. Zephyrinthe beautiful face of Princess Mearez.
can
Ou hear me?”
Of course I could hear her loud and clear. The only thing that felt strange was my wolf. Having been stripped of her mate, I felt… empty. I gently opened my eyes again and tried to sit up, but Princess Mearez came to help me.
“I think you shouldn’t try to stand just yet, Zephyrine. You’re still healing,” she said. I shook my head.
“I’m fine.” I refused to allow the useless bond I had with Nyroth to weigh me down.
I sat up, resting my back against the headboard, and looked around. I realized I was in Princess Mearez’s bedchamber. The door was locked, and Princess Serena sat at the bed’s edge, concern written across her face.
“You should drink,” Princess Mearez said, holding out a wooden cup filled with potion. “It will help you regain your strength. Gulp it all down at once.”
I nodded and obeyed, swallowing the bitter herbal potion before passing the cup back to her. She returned it to its place, then placed a soft palm over mine,
“Are you okay? Zephyrine, how do you feel?”
I nodded, sighing.
“I’m fine. How did I get here? How long have I been out?”
The two Lycan Princesses exchanged a look, and Princess Serena replied,
“Your Beta helped bring you here. He’s at the guest hall now. You’ve been out since last night.”

“Oh.” I sighed again, bowing my head. Last night… I had rejected Nyroth Hue. I was supposed to feel relief, but… why was the tension so thick?
“I’ve always known there was something more about you, but I never knew it was something like this,” Princess Serena said. I looked up gently at her. That gaze, the charged atmosphere… it told me something
was wrong.
I shifted my gaze to Princess Mearez and noticed her eyes lowered. I swallowed, feeling uneasy.
“I… I apologize. I know… I shouldn’t have kept my identity a secret. Trust me, I have my reasons.”
No words came in response, making me feel even more uncomfortable.
“Princess…”
“By any chance, Zephyrine…” Princess Mearez cut in softly, staring into my eyes. “By any chance… did you inform the King?”
I swallowed hard, lowering my gaze and biting my lower lip.
“No.”

“Why not?” Princess Serena’s voice was sharper a secret from a man who… who you love?”
“Watch your tone, Serena. We won’t blame her,” Princess Mearez said gently. But Serena only looked away, frowning. For a moment, I didn’t blink. Something was very wrong.
Slowly, I turned back to Princess Mearez, my heart beginning to race.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s…” she began, then shook her head. “I’ll inform your Beta you’re fine now. The night is still young. I’ll have the guard open the gate to grant you safe passage, and…”
“I’m not leaving just yet,” I interrupted gently, eyes fixed on hers. “Not until I know what’s wrong with my identity with you.”
Silence fell. Dead silence, the tension rising. This was different. I had never felt anything like it.
“Zephyrine…”
“Where is Lycannar?” I asked quietly, my heart thudding uncontrollably. “What’s wrong? Why? You don’t want me again because I’m not a rogue?”
“Don’t say that,” Princess Mearez scolded, and I searched her eyes.
“Then what? Because I’m an Alpha?”
“Zephyrine…”
“An Ashmere?”
Her gaze went icy at the name. Even Princess Serena bowed her head in silence. That confirmed my fear.
It was my identity as an Ashmere that unsettled them.

I rose from the bed, noticing I was wearing a new gown. I moved toward the door, but Princess Mearez stepped in front of me. For a brief moment, I saw fear and warning flash in her eyes.
“Zephyrine… apart from being my brother’s woman, I’ve loved you from the first moment as a sister. I beg you… take my advice. You have to leave this Kingdom.”
That shattered everything. Wait… what?
“Why?” I asked, cautious, but she couldn’t answer Princess Serena rose from the bed.
“Let her go. We both know whatever path she takes… she will never be free from the Lycan King,” she said and My heart sank further.
What did she mean by that? What in this Shifter Empire did she mean?
What did me being an Ashmere have to do with the Lycan Kingdom? What did it have to do with Lycannar Blood?
That question burned in my mind as I made my way toward the black tower.

Mounting the stairs that night felt different. Stripped of every secret, ascending as who I truly was, An Alpha, an Ashmere, I know I should have felt no tension, but it came anyway. A chill ran through me, carried on the same dark energy I had felt before.
I reached the dimly lit hall of Lycannar and froze. I couldn’t pinpoint why, but I sensed the energy coming from the bath chamber. That’s where he was.
I moved toward the chamber and gently pushed the door open. What I saw made me pause. I remembered this bath chamber as ominous yet elegant but now… it had been transformed.
Candles burned in low pools of light, casting golden reflections across the marble floors. Rose petals floated on the water, and soft incense curled in the air, delicate and intoxicating.
The space had been arranged with a taste that was undeniably… personal. Sophisticated, yet intimate, as if designed for someone to linger in or perhaps for two.
My heart swelled, and I stepped inside further, letting my eyes trace the subtle changes. Every corner seemed softened, warmer. The room no longer felt like the lair of a bachelor; it felt married, domestic, yet with an undercurrent of raw, unspoken desire.
I lowered my gaze to gauge the pool, my pulse quickening. Everything in me sensed darkness beneath the allure, and I braced myself.
Then, a heavy step from behind made me start. Air left my lungs.
It was Lycannar.
I could tell from the mixture of his scent. Flowers and blood. That intoxicating combination I had come to crave. But underneath it, there was a familiar darkness, raw and tight around my chest. I tried to place it… and then his palm came from behind me. I froze.
Lycannar.
Gods, how much I missed his touch. My eyes closed as he wrapped his arms around me, his presence both comforting and overwhelming.
His palm slid from my waist up to my neck, tender yet insistent. When his lips pressed to mine, a fire ignited deep inside, and I opened my eyes, gasping for breath.
By the heat of his hands, the intensity of his kisses, I could tell he hadn’t heard. Not about what had happened, not about who I had become.
I turned slowly to face him. The changes in him were subtle at first, then undeniable. His hair fell loose around his shoulders, framing the sharp perfection of his face. His expression was unreadable, dark, and magnetic, and yet when his lips sought mine again, I pressed my palm to his chest and stepped back.
“Lycan…” I murmured, soft but urgent. He didn’t seem to hear, his gaze drawn to the gown I wore. Without hesitation, his fingers reached for the strap, attempting to pull it down. My heart thundered, and I stepped back again. Read full story at FindN0vel.net

“Lycan, I have something to tell you.” I said, steadying myself. He nodded, undeterred, and came closer, closing the distance to stand behind me.
“It’s about who I am, Lycannar.”
His fingers traced the zipper of my gown, sliding it down slowly, lips pressing to the exposed skin of my back. A shiver ran through me, simultaneously intoxicating and terrifying. I fought for control. Knowing fully well what we were about to do could invoke the Moon Goddess’s wrath upon my pack.
“Lycan, we can’t… we can’t do this,” I whispered again, creating distance between us. He stared at me, silent. “I need you to listen. I need to tell you about me.”
He stopped moving. His eyes locked on mine. Finally, I had all his attention.
“Lycannar… remember when I told you I was leaving for my pack weeks ago? I arrived safely. My people received me well,” I began, panic rising despite my calm tone. “There… I had to undergo some rituals.”
Silence stretched between us. I expected words, but he didn’t speak. I started again, gently.
“The Moon Goddess… I went to her for her blessing. I became an Alpha, Lycannar, and when I did… she warned me. I cannot lie with any man except my fated mate. That means I cannot… cannot… be with you unless our bond is sanctioned. If I fail…
“What pack?” His first question cut through my words, calm but insistent. My breath caught. He wasn’t shocked by my being an Alpha.
“I’ve felt your energy since you walked into my Kingdom two nights ago. I recognize an Alpha when I see
one.”
His tone left no room for hesitation. He didn’t care what the Moon Goddess had said. I swallowed.
“Lycan…” I whispered.
“What pack?” he asked again, and I stepped back unconsciously.
“Ash Pack.”
Long silence. He stood still, eyes fixed on me. Why wouldn’t he speak?
Then his eyebrows furrowed, a frown forming as he studied me.
“What?”
“Lycan.”
“What pack?”
“Ash Pack.”
His frown deepened, that familiar expression when he was piecing together a puzzle, trying to complete a thought.
Slowly, he stepped forward, fingers brushing my arm in a tentative grip. I steadied myself, refusing to flinch.

“Does that mean you are an Ashmere?” His words hit me like a stone, and my heart sank. “Wait… your parents. The ones I bowed to the other night at the memorial hall… they are the warlord and the war general?”
I couldn’t help but step back, freeing my arm from his grip. This… this was getting twisted.

“You are a Lycan. Only a few even know about my father outside this Kingdom. How did you know?”
Instead of responding, he merely looked me over, then asked again.
“Is your elder brother, the war strategist who vanished from battle five years ago? Varyn Ashmere?”
That question twisted me inside. He knew about the battle five years ago.
“Lycan…” I began, but he had already left the bath chamber, moving out with deliberate steps.
For a few heartbeats, I stood frozen, my pulse hammering. Then I rushed after him, down the stairs, bursting into the dining hall.
Swiftly, I blocked his path, desperate to know where he was going.
“Lycannar,” I called, my voice quiet but urgent. “Tell me how do you know about my family?”
For the first time, I saw true horror flicker across his face, as if he couldn’t comprehend it.
“You… you are the warrior who cut the dark spell away. You defeated Xyrrha in battle? Is that…,” he muttered incredulously, stepping closer to lock eyes with me. “If this isn’t fate, I don’t know what is.”
With that, he walked past me, disappearing into a shadowed hall.
My heart plummeted. Zyrrha? Who was that? Why did he speak of a battle as though he had been there? Or… was he there?
“Lycan…” I called again, moving to follow him, but a voice stopped me.
The Lycan Princesses entered the dining hall, and my chest heaved. They knew something. They always
knew.
I approached them, questions spilling from me, directed at no one in particular. I needed answers.
“Tell me everything. How does my identity as an Ashmere connect to the Blood?”
No answer came, only heightening my frustration. The weakness from breaking my bond with Nyroth Hue still lingered, and now… dizziness washed over me, forcing me to sway.
“Zephyrine,” Princess Mearez said, her concern wrapping around me as she came to steady me but I held out a hand to stop her.
Gritting my jaw, I lowered myself onto a chair at the dining table, head bowed.
“I have never lied to you, and all my feelings for Lycannar are true. Every moment of my journey, I thought of him. I loved him, and I still do. I respect you both above all and yet, you won’t speak to me?”
“Zephyrine…”
I turned away, trying to steady my racing thoughts.

“Five years ago, my brother vanished in battle. Overnight, I became an orphan with no blood. Around me were only comrades, maids, pack members and relatives I could not trust. My parents‘ deaths were confirmed. They died in battle, and everyone who fought with them saw it. But my brother…. vanished like smoke in the wind. He is the next Alpha of my pack, but since he is nowhere… I was called to ascend the sacred seat. That’s it. I… I don’t understand. Does Lycannar know my parents? Or my brother? Or all of them?”
Princess Mearez approached, pulling a chair to sit/gently before me. Her hand came to mine, soft and grounding. She studied me quietly before sighing.
“I think it’s better to wait for Lycannar. Only he can make it clear… and vivid.”
I stayed silent, feeling her soft touch linger. Then I swallowed and I pulled my hand away, turning toward the stairs with a heavy heart.
The hallway greeted me with that same lingering dark energy. I moved carefully into Lycannar’s bed chamber and paused at the doorway.
The space had been transformed. The living room arrangement stole my breath and I found myself walk towards the bed chamber.
His bed, once stark and masculine, now radiated warmth and elegance. Long curtains in deep crimson and gold swirled gently with the draft. Candles flickered in sconces, casting playful shadows on the polished floor.
A low divan and a small writing desk had been arranged neatly, while hand–carved shelves displayed delicate ornaments and vases with fresh flowers.
I stepped in, heart thrumming. There was a section clearly meant for someone… me, no doubt. Gowns of silk and satin hung on a rack, nightgowns and elegant shoes lined up neatly, each piece exuding sensuality and care.
My gaze shifted to the bed a soft white canopy curtain swirling gently, the sheets pristine, inviting, yet intimate.
A mirror, framed in carved obsidian, caught my attention. Lycannar had never used one, yet here it stood, partially veiled with a curtain. I stared at it, pulse quickening. Every detail spoke of him preparing for… someone. For me.
The familiar dark energy I had felt earlier whjch I couldn’t pinpoint where I have perceived it came to swirled again. Memories came rushing. The battlefield five years ago, the clash of steel, the aura of a demon war general. Xyrrha. Could that be her? The same Lycannar had just named? My thoughts scrambled, trying to piece it together.
I swallowed hard, drawing in the warm, scented air of the bed chamber, and the question that had been gnawing at me pressed to the forefront.
How much did he know?
