Ch. 126..130: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 126-130
Chapter 126: Worry mixed with pleasure
Jabi.
I open my eyes and I am at the beach, my favourite place to be. ever since I went there with Darrien, it became my favourite place. Any memories that have Darrien in it, is treasured to me.
I look up at the sky, the sun is about to set, making the sky an orange colour. The scene before me is beautiful but something doesn’t seem right. I don’t know why I am alone; I don’t ever want to be alone. Having Darrien means I don’t have to be alone again. I look around in search of him, but he is nowhere in sight. My legs move on their own accord, I want to find him.
Suddenly it feels like my rib cage is closing in on my heart. I feel like I can’t breathe. My eyes roam around as I clutch my chest, trying to breathe. Once I find him, everything will be alright.
’’Darrien,’’ I call his name even though I can’t feel him close to me.
My heart is crying for the release that only comes with him. I have never felt so alone in my life.
Where is my lifeline?
Darrien.
I walk into Jabi’s tiny cabin and go straight to his room. I haven’t been able to check on him all day. He has been sleeping a lot, completely understandable, especially after everything he has been through. I freeze in front of the door as I hear his muffled cries.
I open the door hurriedly and he is still in bed. He is asleep. Why is he crying in his sleep? I run up to him and grab him immediately. He doesn’t open his eyes as he holds on to my clothes, trying to pull me closer to him. He is covered in sweat; his hands and legs are shaking. It seems like he is having a nightmare.
I know it is not the best thing to surprise wake someone up from their dreams, even though it is a nightmare but somehow I still want to be there for him. I lie down next to him and wrap my arms around him tightly, he squeezes me and I feel the fear of letting me go show.
I stay in his arms until he calms down. Once he stops shaking, his breathing steadies and then he opens his eyes to find me watching him with all the love I can show on my face. At this point in our relationship, oi think we have proven to each other how much we mean to each other and there are no words that can describe it. The only things we have left are our action. Jabi’s eyes are the bright blue of his wolf, shining all over the room. It seems like his wolf is making an appearance in this moment. I love all parts of him, even the little fur guy.
’’Hi,’’ I manage to stroke the soft strands of his hair.
He returns the smile, I move my hands to his face, just a little bit underneath his eyes. My thumb pressed up against his skin ’’Your eyes are blue,’’ I comment still smiling.
He furrows his brows in confusion. He probably didn’t summon his wolf, but he is here.
’’Did you have a nightmare?’’ I ask still touching him.
I never want to let go of him.
He nods but doesn’t say anything. I haven’t heard his voice all day. I fucking miss his voice. What I would do to hear him speak right now.
’’Are you hungry?’’ I ask him.
He shakes his head. I watch him, not sure what is going on in his mind. Our bodies are pressed together. I can feel all of him right now, but that is not where my mind is at. I only want to take care of him. He is still not in the best place after our ritual. My baby is still fragile right now.
’’Not really,’’ he mumbles shifting even closer to me.
I pull away from him because he actually needs to eat. ’’I’ll get you something from the fridge. There is a lot of food in his fridge, courtesy of Alanis. The only thing I think he will want right now is meat.
’’Can we just stay in bed a little longer,’’ he bats his lashes at me, pleading with his eyes.
He knows I will do whatever he wants.
I manage a smile as I climb back to the bed and wrap him in my arms ’’Are you okay?’’ I ask him again.
He is acting more clingy than usual. ’’Yeah, I just don’t want to let you go right now, he breathes into my ear, the sound of his voice sending chills down my spine. I notice that his eyes are still the bright blue, I don’t think he is even aware that there is this change.
’’What did you dream about?’’ I ask him curious to know what made him so shaken up.
’’You, us. I don’t know. I have never felt so alone like I did in the dream. I looked for you and you weren’t there.’’
’’I am here right now,’’ I remind him.
I have that fear all the time. We are facing so many threats. It almost seems like the whole world is against us and I have the fear that one day I will wake up and he won’t be there. I don’t like to think about it because that just adds to the stress of everything that is happening.
I will only just try to hold on to him. Never let him go, that way I don’t have to see him disappear from my life.
’’I know, I see you,’’ he pokes my nose softly almost as an assurance that this is real and not another nightmare.
’’You don’t have to worry about losing me. I will never leave you. I am sorry to say this but you are stuck with me,’’ I lean forward and place a soft kiss on his forehead. He closes his eyes, and tugs at my shirt wanting more from the kiss. I move to his lips, wanting a taste of him. It’s been a day and I have missed him so much.
Sue me for being selfish right now. I love him so much that even not kissing him for a day is killing me. My lips press to his, the softness of his lips drives me insane. I don’t know what I expected when I imagined kissing him, but each time I kiss him again, it takes over my mind and drives me crazy. Jabi’s tongue slides into my mouth as he revels into me completely. My hand roams all over his body. I can never be as close to him as I want to. No matter how much I squeeze into his arms, it is never enough.
He reaches for my clothes, I can feel him wanting to get them off, so I help him by pulling my shirt over my head and then my pants. He is wearing one of my shirts, as usual. His scent fills my nostrils as he touches me all over my body. The chills erupt with more of his touches.
Hurriedly, he climbs on top of me and pulls his shirt over his head. Now we are both naked. I can feel him hard against me. He wants this and there is no way I can derive him of even the smallest pleasure.
I know this is not really the time to be doing this, considering all the uncertainty going around. Right now his eyes are still blue. It seems to me that he is not even conscious of it.
I grab his waist gently and he looks at me, his cheeks crimson red ’’Your eyes, they are blue,’’ I point out.
’’Oh, do you think it is something to worry about?’’ he questions, his voice shaky and unsteady.
’’I don’t know. I just need to make sure you are okay before we continue this.’’ Like I said before, his safety and well being is my number one priority. Nothing else matters to me but him.
’’I feel fine. I just really want you right now,’’ he hides his face in the crook of my neck. He is shy from his words even though I already assured him that he has nothing to be embarrassed about.
’’You know you don’t even have to ask. You can have me whenever you want. I am yours to begin with. No questions asked.’’
He is still very reserved when it comes to communicating with me. The fact that he needs to tell me that he wants to have sex with me and be shy about it does not sit right with me.
I tilt his head from his chin so that he can look at me. ’’How about we try this again, and then we can get something to eat after,’’ I ask him.
He smiles shyly as I lean forward again, kissing him softly. This time a moan escapes his lips as he grabs unto me again with a tight grip. I plan to be extremely gentle with him.
My lips remain fused to his as I slide into him slowly. His eyes open wide from the unexpected pressure from my dick inside of him. He has already opened up to me from the numerous times we have had sex. I fit into him perfectly. Tonight is all about him. I want him to get the satisfaction he needs.
’’Are you good?’’ I ask him as his eyes roll to the back of his head. slowly, I thrust into him, grinding my hips in a circular motion. He moans against me, the sound that I desperately crave.
He claws at my back, scratching and tugging my hair. I know exactly how he feels because I feel the same way and more. Being with Jabi is everything, everything I will never let go of. He bends forward and I hit the wall of his insides, this gets a scream from him. the sound making me lose my mind.
’’Don’t stop Dar,’’ he pleads with so much desperation etched his voice.
Him saying my name during this blissful pleasure sends me over and under. I go faster and that makes him shudder and squirm against me. I feel him underneath me as his cum splatters all over my body and his. This sends me to my release. All through he holds me, and I feel like if he could, he would never let me go.
I love this kid.
Chapter 127: Blood thirsty
Beau.
The moment I transition, I feel it. It is different from the usual transformation. My bones don’t break, the skin on my body doesn’t split open to accommodate my fur. The pain is not as it has been all the other times I have changed today. I don’t even pay attention to Jules as I shift into the form he wanted me to. Everything comes to play as I get on my knees as a loud howl escapes my lips.
My eyes dart to Jules, he has a smile on his face. I don’t know what he sees when he looks at me. Is this what he was expecting?
I look at my hands, they are still human. The only difference is the heavy fur around them, my nails are sharper, now turned into claws. I don’t remember what happened when I changed with my altercation with Fallon. Now I am self-conscious of everything that is happening. I will remember this even after I turn later on.
’’Look at me,’’ Jules commands calmly.
My eyes fix on his face. My breathing is heavy, it feels like I am out of breath. This transformation must be taking a lot of energy from me.
’’Can you speak?’’ he asks curiously.
I open my mouth, even that action feels strenuous. I am not used to this but I have to try. I have to be strong for this fight. There is no time for weakness.
’’What should I say?’’ I ask him. I don’t recognize my voice. It is deeper than usual, there is a croak to it that I can’t identify. I feel my inner wolf on the surface of my consciousness, lingering in the background. Waiting to take over. At this moment, I wouldn’t mind him taking over. After that meditation, I feel a closer connection to him. Almost like there has been a fusion between my human side and the wolf side. The same way I feel with Lanis, a bond that I can’t even explain.
The smile on his face widens, there is this look of excitement that he has plastered. You know the kind you will have when seeing something shiny and unusual.
’’This is incredible. I have never seen anything like this,’’ he takes closer steps until he is in front of me, his gaze strong and very curious. I stand on my feet and looking at my legs, it is unrecognizable to me but also exciting.
’’I am still me,’’ I announce.
He nods ’’Yes, you are able to communicate verbally, we need to test how strong and fast you are in this form,’’ he alerts me.
As a full wolf, I am one of the fastest in my pack. Running should be a cakewalk for me but I don’t know how my body will react to this new transformation. This could go in two directions, I am hoping it goes in a positive direction. Jules brings out a stopwatch from his pocket. He wants to time me, see how fast I can go in this form.
I want to see how fast I can go too.
***********************
The night sky looms over us as I come to a halt.
’’Let us call it a night, I have exhausted you enough,’’ Jules decides.
I manage a nod, breathing heavily. There is nothing we haven’t tried today. It started with running and then testing my strength and endurance. He even succeeded in bruising me up to see how fast I would heal in this form. The transformation is so exciting to him that I can tell he doesn’t want to let me go.
’’How fast can you switch this?’’ he asks me.
I know what he is asking. Would it be the same way to change back to my human form?
’’I think it’s the same,’’ I grunt out my words still breathing heavily.
He smiles ’’Then do it.’’
I close my eyes as I envision what I need. Usually when in wolf form, you just have to picture what you want, in your head. The rest happens naturally. The only difference with this is the lack of pain. It is the painless transformation I have ever experience.
’’Fifteen seconds,’’ he announces with a smile, still watching me. I look at my hands and sure enough, all the hair on my body is gone.
’’Same time tomorrow?
I nod, already excited for the things we will do. I want to explore every prt of me that has been hidden all this while. I want to test my limits, see what I can do, how much I can handle. Suddenly I am so glad that Jules is here, ready and willing to help me.
’’This is everything to me. Thank you, uncle Jules.’’
He smiles warmly ’’You don’t have to thank me. I will do anything for Rick’s family. Consider yourself family too.’’
The love he had for my father still surprises me. The way he spoke about him, the fact that he is able to handle his death surprises me the most. I thought he wouldn’t handle it well.
’’Get some rest, eat enough food,’’ he slaps my back spiritedly ’’I will see you tomorrow,’’ with all that said, I watch him walk away from me to the direction of the community.
I grab my shorts from the floor and put it on immediately. I want to find Lanis and tell him about my day. Today was a success and there is only one person I want to share everything with. He said he was going to see his father but that was hours ago. He should be back by now, even though all through my training I haven’t been able to feel him.
No matter how far away Lanis is, my heart could always tell when he was closeby.
Where are you?
I send him a mind link.
I feel him connect with me instantly.
Still at home, I have some news for you. Will be back in like an hour max. I love you.
I smile even though he can’t see me right now. I am too tired to connect with him visually. I need to get meat into my system. Hunting alone in the woods doesn’t seem like a good idea with everything that is happening, Cassius’s minions could be lurking around the corners, ready to attack and I won’t give them the opportunity to have me again.
There is raw meat in the house, finally settling on that, I head to the direction of my house. Everyone is indoors, as instructed. I don’t want people outside for fear of getting hurt.
Olin waves at me and I stop to greet him ’’Hey Alpha,’’ he calls me. I smile at him even though I can tell he is teasing me. He is one of the people that accepted me. He was fathers friend, I know I can count on him.
’’I hear you are going through intense training, people say you could be the next Walker Fields.’’
Now he is flattering me. Walker Field is the Alpha of a neighbouring pack. Till this day, he is undefeatable, no one can defeat him in combat. No one bothers with his pack but now that I think about it, they could be next. Cassius is going from town to town and they are two towns away from us.
’’I don’t know about that, I am trying my best. I need to protect the pack.’’
He nods ’’I get it, we have faith in you. Just focus on your training and we will handle the rest,’’ he assures me.
I am grateful for this ’’Thank you, Olin. Your support has been the motivation that has pushed me to keep going.’’
I leave Olin after a couple of words. On my way to my front door, I hear a scream. On reflex, I go into panic mode. Silence looms over the environment, I can’t hear anything but I know that something is wrong. Call it a gut feeling but I think something has happened. I run to the sound of the voice. The fear crawling out of me profusely. I don’t know if I can handle anything bad right now. Things just keep happening when I haven’t even been able to even control the ones on the ground. I smell blood as I run deeper into the community, passing my house. The scent gets stronger as I get closer to Jabi’s cabin. My heart lunges in my chest, already getting worried.
I look at the windows, the lights inside his house are on. Slowly, I walk to the back of the house, that is where the scent is the strongest. The door to the cabin opens in a rush that I can’t help but turn around. Darrien is in front of the door, his eyes are wide as he walks out of the door.
’’You heard it too?’’ I ask him.
He nods and comes closer to me, I can sense the panic from his expression. ’’Jabi is not in the house, I woke up and he was gone,’’ he exclaims worriedly.
We both walk to the direction I was heading before he interrupted me. I see the sight before he does. Jabi on top of someone, a girl. I cant identify the person yet, but she is unconscious. My reaction is instinctual, all I see at this moment, is Jabi attacking a member of the pack.
I run over to him and he looks up immediately, his eyes are blue. He has fangs and there is blood dripping down his mouth.
What the fuck?
Chapter 128: Vampire cravings
Darrien.
I open my eyes to a loud scream that sounds like it is coming from outside the cabin and the first person I look for isn’t next to me. I didn’t mean to fall asleep, these past couple of days has been fucking exhausting. Yes, I have had Jabi through it but my body is getting to it’s weakened state and I guess, lying down next to Jabi made it even easier.
I look around the room, it is dark, the pillow he was sleeping on is dented and still warm. His scent is still clouding the room, so he must have left a couple of minutes ago. Maybe he went to the bathroom or he finally went to look for food. I have to assume because I don’t want to worry. Before we had sex, he was acting a little weird. he looked exhausted and his eyes refused to go back to normal. They remained the same blue until he closed them and went back to sleep. I waited for him to sleep with the intention of going to look for Alby. I wasn’t settled with him, I wanted to make enquiries but I must have fallen asleep.
I need blood.
I need a lot of it right now.
I stand up from the bed, feeling very light-headed. I have to look for him, there is no sound coming from the cabin. There was a scream, sure it was a female voice but I can’t help but panic. I walk out of the room and the living room is empty. With a quick pace, I search the bathroom and kitchen. He is not in the cabin. My heightened sense picks up footsteps outside the house. The scent is strong, it is not my baby.
I open the door with shaking hands and Beau turns around to face me. my eyes are wide from the shock of seeing him outside Jabi’s cabin. Jabi left the cabin without telling me, so I can’t help but panic.
What if someone took him.
’’You heard it too?’’ Beau asks me.
I nod and walk up to him, suddenly the smell of blood whiffs up to my nose. It is very strong, the bloodthirst within me kicks in, I need to have blood before I lose my mind.
I walk with Beau until we get to the back of the cabin, I can already feel Jabi, so it doesn’t come as a surprise to me when I see him. The only surprise I get is seeing him on top of someone. Jabi is tiny, just a little over 5 ft. He doesn’t look like he could even hurt a fly, in fact, all the time I have known him, he has never hurt anyone. At this moment, seeing him devouring someone has my heart-wrenching in pain. Beau is quick to attack, or should I say take action. I am frozen in place, I don’t know how to react to what is happening. the moment Beau runs forward Jabi turns around and looks at us. his eyes are still blue and very angry. It feels like I am staring at someone else, someone I don’t know. There is blood all over him, his canine teeth are fangs. This is all familiar to me. he looks like a bloodthirsty vampire. One that has been starved of blood.
Beau runs over to him and pushes him catching him off guard, at that moment, all my instincts kick in. I cannot let him harm Jabi. No matter what, I will always protect him. I speed walk over to them until I am blocking Beau from him.
’’Get out of my way,’’ Beau warns me, his eyes flashing a bright red. Suddenly Jabi is not the only one that is unrecognizable to me. Beau has transformed in the split second I watched him run over to my link. His teeth are out, the flesh around his chest, arms and legs are furry. He looks like a half-wolf, half-man monster. I am never intimidated by anyone, but at this moment, I am intimidated by him.
’’You can’t hurt him,’’ I plead. I don’t want to have to fight Beau to protect Jabi. I will kill anyone if I have to. No one can harm him.
No one.
Jabi breathes heavily, I turn around and he is on his knees watching us with such a blank expression on his face. the blood is still dripping from his mouth.
’’He hurt one of us. that is punishable by death,’’ he reasons or rather should I say he decides.
’’Please don’t do this. he is not himself. I don’t know how this happened. Jabi will never hurt anyone.’’
I look at the body on the ground. She is still breathing. He didn’t do this to kill her. He just wanted her blood. It was out of his control. I can’t understand how this even happened in the first place. How he turned into this.
’’She is not dead, he didn’t kill her,’’ I assure him because all I want to do is get him somewhere safe. The look Beau is giving him right now is murderous and I don’t know if I will even be able to take him if he tries to hurt Jabi.
’’Take him inside, I will be back.’’ He runs over to the girl on the ground and lifts her up in one go leaving the alley behind the cabin immediately. I go over to Jabi and he grunts loudly as I get close to him. I raise my hands up so as not to seem like a threat. His eyes roam around as he tries to shift back. He doesn’t want me to touch him and I don’t want him to freak out and try to escape.
’’Baby, it is me. I need you to listen to my voice. I need you to come back to me,’’ I voice out calmly.
I have been in this situation before. I have hurt people when thirsty. This is not a surprise to me. so many times, I have done things that I didn’t even remember. It is a terrible thing; the thirst can drive even the most self-controlled vampire off the wall.
I can’t believe I am associating the word Vampire with Jabi. What the fuck is even happening?
He shakes his head immediately, moving backwards until his back hits the wall with a loud thud. I keep my stance as I try to talk him out of his trance. I know I can do it. Jabi is mine, he will listen to me.
’’Jabi,’’ I call his name again.
He shivers still breathing heavily. This time as I take another step towards me, he doesn’t try to escape. I go on one knee, my hands still outstretched, he looks away from me. Slowly, I can feel him coming back to me. ’’Baby, will you let me hold you?’’ I ask him. I wish he’d just talk to me.
Right now I don’t know how Beau and the rest of the pack are going to handle this. He was willing to kill him tonight. I will not let that happen. If we have to leave right now, I will take him in my arms and figure out what the hell went wrong.
How does this even make any sense?
His scent is still the same. Nothing has changed internally, so why is he suddenly drinking blood?
My arms pull him closer and he rests his head on my shoulder. His breathing is still spiked. He is cold against me, so very cold. I just want to break down because I am thinking a lot of worse case scenarios but I have to be there for him. I cannot lose it right now because he needs me the most.
Silent sobs erupt from him as he holds me. he has come to, I can feel him again. The way he was before he fell asleep in my arms. Somehow along the lines, he got off the bed and went searching for food. I know how that can happen. He wasn’t in his right frame of mind.
He didn’t know what he was doing.
That is the argument I am going to give Beau if he tries to come for Jabi. I need Alanis right now. he is the only one that can talk sense into his mate. I grab Jabi in my arms and carry him. he opens his eyes and I notice that they are back to normal.
He is back to himself.
Maybe all he needed was blood and we didn’t notice it immediately. I gave him my blood but now it seems like it wasn’t enough. I lead him into the cabin and place him on the couch gently.
’’What did I do? am I in trouble?’’ he asks me still crying.
I don’t know if he remembers but he must have some inclinations of his action. He wasn’t himself but he could feel everything that was happening.
’’No, I won’t let anything happen to you. I promise,’’ I assure him.
Slowly he passes out in my arms. I don’t know what I am going to do, I don’t know how to handle all this. the worry is strong within me.
I just have to protect him.
Chapter 129: Harmless kid
Beau.
I don’t know how to comprehend what just happened. Thinking about it, all I can get from the situation is that Jabi lost controlled and attacked Marcella. A girl from the pack. The fact that this happened to him means that it could happen to Lanis. Something could go wrong in the ritual and he could lose control too.
I get to the infirmary in a frenzy. I see the bite marks on her neck. Just like the mark of a vampire. At that moment earlier, he looked more like a vampire than a wolf. In an instant, Jabi lost himself. I don’t actually have any plans on killing him. I know it was not intentional, everything he did was out of his control and I know how that can be. Darrien protected him when he needed him the most.
One of the healers comes into view immediately, her eyes are worry-filled. This has become a reoccurrence. People getting hurt, people dying. I am tired of it all and I don’t know what to do to stop this, how to make it better.
I can feel Marcella breathing in my arms which means she is still alive. As long as nothing happens to her, Jabi will be fine. I don’t want him to be punished for this. We just need to find a way to control whatever is going on within him.
’’What happened to her?’’ Ogma questions with worry. We all have the same reactions to any bad news. There is a panic that we can all relate to. Having someone hunting us has made us this way.
’’A vampire bite, she seems to be breathing well. She has lost a lot of blood which she should regain all on her own. Can you just check to make sure everything is okay?’’ I tell her.
Marcella is just sixteen. Her father will freak out when he finds out about this. I don’t know how I am going to get this situation under control. No one fully trusted my mating with Lanis. They will use this as an excuse, a way to make everyone have doubts.
’’I need to go and tell her Bas,’’ Bas is her father. The one person I don’t want to have to deal with right now. Nothing ever good comes from being the bearer of bad news. I place Marcella on the bed gently and Ogma takes over. Running my hands through my hair, all the exhaustion kicks in. today has already been a stressful day and now I have to deal with another problem.
Jabi needs to be checked on, he is not himself right now and we don’t know the repercussion of what he did. The best solution to all this might be to keep him away from the pack for the time being. Maybe it was a good idea for him to leave.
I leave the infirmary with shaking hands and a heavy heart. I know the direction to his house. It is about a five minute walk from my house. I just wanted to have a hot bath and cuddle for the rest of the night with Lanis. Now I don’t know if that will be a possibility. I pass by Blue and Rex. They are seated on two identical rocks in front of my house. Rex looks up through his glasses and manages a faint smile. These two are always together.
It seems a little suspicious but I don’t even have the time to assess it right now. ’’Blue, I need you to check on Jabi,’’ I stop walking to tell him about the incidence.
He furrows his brows in confusion but still has this calm expression plastered on his face. Blue seems like the kind of person that doesn’t react to anything. He seems like he has no worries in the world.
’’Is he okay?’’ he asks calmly.
I shake my head, remembering the sight. Jabi on top of the girl, the blood all over his face. the fact that Jabi could hurt someone else is still a shock to me. Jabi has always been just a kid to me. He has always been fragile, the kind of person that needed taking care of. I still cannot believe all this is happening to him. I don’t even know if he strong enough to handle all of this.
He might just end up breaking.
’’Something just happened. He attacked someone, the person is in the infirmary right now, but he was acting like a vampire.’’
Even saying it out loud sounds weird. How did this even happen in the first place? I know there was a possibility of him changing but I didn’t expect him to be violent. Jabi has never even handled being an omega well, how will he handle being a vampire?
’’What do you mean by that?’’
’’He bit her. Was drinking her blood when we found them.’’
’’Hmm...’’ he mutters deep in thought.
’’What does this mean, is he suddenly a vampire now?’’
Okay, that is the answer I need. I want to know what this means for the kid and I can’t help but think about me. I went through the same thing with Lanis during the ritual. Does this mean that the same thing could happen to me?
I don’t want to be a vampire.
Where does that leave me as the Alpha?
’’I won’t know until I examine him, I will go see him right away,’’ he assures me standing up from the rock. Rex remains quiet through our conversation but I see the worry in his eyes. I don’t have the time right now to focus on him but he is on my mind and I plan to help him out. Rex needs to find his mate, at some point, I won’t be enough for him.
It already feels like I am not enough for him anymore.
’’Thanks, please let me know once you have an answer.’’
I leave them and head on to Bas and Devine’s house. The bakers are a family of three. Baas and Devine and Marcella. It took them a while to have Marcella so she is their prized possession. One of the reasons why I am so scared to give them this news. Bas will freak out and he lacks manners and composure. He will get so upset and try to look for blame. Yes, I take full blame for everything that is happening. This all started with me and Lanis but I don’t want all the anger to be shifted to Jabi. He cannot handle the hate that comes with this mating.
I will take full responsibility.
I take a deep breath before knocking on the door. It takes a couple of seconds before I hear footsteps and the door opens widely. Devine frowns when she sees me, I am like the most hated person in the pack these days. I have been unable to do anything for them, all I have are empty promises.
They don’t trust me. They don’t think I am good enough to be the Alpha. The minute someone tries to challenge me, I will see all the people that don’t want me here.
’’Beau, what are you doing here so late,’’ she tries to mask her discomfort with a fake smile but I can see right through her.
’’Can I see your husband?’’
The frown creeps up to her face again. ’’alright,’’ she closes the door on my face again and I hear her footsteps descend further into the house. I hear murmurs, they are very clear. Almost like they are suddenly so heightened, just to hear their conversation.
’’What does he want?’’ Bas asks his wife. There is a growl in his voice, the kind that makes me sure that he doesn’t want to see me right now.
’’I don’t know, he looked terrible. There was blood all over him,’’ she mutters.
I didn’t even realize I had blood on me, I look at my hands and the white shorts I have on. Sure enough, there is a mixture of dirt and bloodstains on it.
’’Where is Marcella?’’ Bas asks immediately.
’’In her room,’’ there is uncertainty in her voice. Their footsteps go farther into the house. I am assuming they are going to check for her. All this could be avoided if he just talks to me. Not long after, they open the door and both harness fear in their eyes.
’’Where is my daughter,’’ he screams so loud that I don’t even know how I can answer him.
’’She is fine, there was an issue. You don’t have anything to worry about. Ogma is making sure everything is okay with her.’’
I try to be as vague as possible. I don’t know how they will react to hearing that she was attacked. Everything is just so messed up right now.
’’What do you mean, what happened to her?’’ Devine cries.
’’Just go to the infirmary. The person that attacked her will be handled accordingly. You have nothing to worry about.’’
I know they will only be focused on getting to their daughter. Right now they could care less about all I am saying.
Do I really think that Jabi needs to be handled?
He is a harmless kid.
I don’t believe he would hurt anyone intentionally.
Chapter 130: Transitioning.
Jabi.
It feels like my head is about to explode. I don’t even know what is happening. The last thing I remember was lying down next to Darrien. Now I am in his arms and he looks very sad. My body feels weak like I have run a marathon on broken limbs. I look at him and his eyes are on me, it seems like he has things that he wants to say.
’’Dar...’’ I tried to speak but the words won’t come out.
He doesn’t hear me, or maybe he is too distracted to even listen. Slowly, I hear the door of my cabin opens quietly and Darrien’s footsteps are light as he leads me into my room. I can’t even walk on my own if I wanted to.
What is happening to me?
’’You’re alright,’’ he breathes those words into my ear. I feel the comfort in his words. There is no doubt in my mind that he is sincere with those words. Somehow I believe I am alright. Everything is going to be alright as long as I have him.
I feel him let go of me, suddenly I am alone again. I don’t want to be alone. I shake on the couch, not agreeing to him letting me go. Using all the energy left to outstretch my arms ’’N...no,’’ I manage to blurt out those words. Desperate for him to hold me. I watch him as he kneels down on the cushion his hand reaching out for me.
’’You want me to stay?’’ he asks worriedly.
I am being clingy right now but he is my only source of energy. Once he leaves I will be alone and once I am alone I won’t be able to breathe. I need to breathe.
Slowly I nod my head. He manages a faint smile and then he is lifting my head up and sitting on the couch. I am still in a daze, unsure of what the hell I did. The look on his face tells me that it must be bad. The pain I feel right now is extreme.
Gently he starts to stroke my hair, he is being careful with me, almost like I am about to break. Why does it feel like I am slowly breaking?
’’Everything is going to be okay,’’ he assures me.
The fact that he feels the need to assure me that things will be okay confuses me. Something must have happened.
’’What happened?’’ I finally muster up some strength.
He shakes his head, ’’Not right now, I need you to rest a bit. You have been through a lot tonight.’’ he echoes calmly.
I try to sit up on the couch, I need to know what I have been through. What happened tonight that is making him look at me with so much pain in his eyes. I really need to know ’’don’t baby, just relax. You are not in the right frame of mind.’’
I really am too exhausted to fight him right now even if I wanted to. My eyes feel heavy.
’’I am here,’’ he assures me.
Slowly I start to drift away. Maybe this is for the best. Once I go to sleep, I can forget about everything and all my worries will disappear.
His face fades out of my sight as fast as it appeared...
**************************
’’He attacked someone.’’
I hear the hushed voices. The person that is speaking is unrecognizable to me. The only voice I want to hear is Darrien.
’’It wasn’t his fault. Something went wrong with the ritual. I didn’t even know he was transitioning.’’
Finally, Darrien speaks and I feel a sense of relief. The person sighs loudly. They seem a little tense. Are they talking about me?
Who did I attack?
I open my eyes and the room is dark. They are outside the house but no matter how quiet they try to be, I can hear them clearly.
’’I need to check him, see what went wrong,’’ the other person says.
What went wrong with who?
Me?
This is freaking me out. I don’t remember anything but from the sound of their voices and the reaction Darrien gave me earlier, something must have happened to me.
’’I don’t want to wake him up, he needs all the rest he can get right now. Can you come back in the morning?’’
’’I can’t do that. He is a threat to the pack, I need to make sure he doesn’t hurt anyone else. Or we have to lock him up.’’
I find it really hard to believe that they are talking about me now. I have never been a threat to the pack. I have always been an insignificant member. The kind of person that sits in the sidelines not bothering anyone. I don’t even have the strength to threaten anyone.
They can’t be talking about me.
’’You have to be fucking kidding me. Jabi is no threat to anyone,’’ Darrien growls so loud that it feels like the walls are shaking.
’’I got the orders from the Alpha. I can’t leave here until I have checked him. Just indulge me right now and take me to him. The easy way or the hard way.’’
I wait to hear from Darrien. I want him to refuse to whoever it is. I don’t want to see anyone. I am scared. I don’t know what happened but it must be bad from the sounds of it. I don’t want to be locked up.
The door to the cabin opens and I sit up on the couch. There is a surprised expression on Darrien’s face. They both didn’t expect me to be awake.
’’You’re awake,’’ he mutters softly.
I nod, finally seeing the owner of the other voice. The man that came with Jules. I can’t remember his name.
’’Hello Jabi,’’ he greets me so calmly, it makes me think I imagined their whole conversation in my head. It doesn’t seem like he is here to hurt me. I am sure I can trust him.
’’Hi,’ I manage, speaking has suddenly become easier than it was a couple of hours ago. I don’t feel as weak as I did before.
’’Can I sit?’’ he asks walking closer to the couch.
I don’t have a say in anything. They are doing everything on their own accord. My eyes dart to Darrien, he is watching but doesn’t say anything.
Did something happen to me?
I send him a mind link.
He looks at me, I know he heard me but he doesn’t answer. Why won’t the answer me and tell me what is wrong?
I need to know.
’’Do you know why I am here?’’
I shake my head.
’’Do you remember leaving this house?’’
I shake my head again.
He nods.
’’How do you feel right now?’’
Confused.
’’Tired,’’ I answer him with a half-truth.
Darrien is not even looking at me again. I don’t know what I have done but now it seems like he is upset with me. Okay, maybe not upset with me but upset with the whole situation. I wish he would look at me again with his loving eyes.
’’That’s understandable, you have been through a lot.’’
I furrow my brows.
’’What happened to me?’’ I ask this man since Darrien doesn’t want to answer. Everyone is walking on eggshells around me.
’’The ritual didn’t go as planned. It seems you are transitioning,’’ this man answers and he is being honest with me.
’’Transitioning into what?’’ I have to ask because all this is confusing to me.
He releases a sigh and I wait for him to tell me what I need to know.
’’A vampire.’’
’’That’s not true,’’ Darrien speaks for the first time since they came into the house. He is angry from the tone of his voice, but I can’t tell why he is angry.
’’Just calm down Darrien. This mating was not regular. Things are happening that we can’t explain. We will figure it all out,’’ the man tries to assure him but my mate is not having it.
’’This is all my fucking fault. I am the one that pushed this, thinking we could handle it all. I am so sorry Jabi,’’ he faces me the tears welling up in his eyes. I don’t him to cry right now, especially in front of this stranger. This man knows nothing about us.
I stand up from the couch and walk over to him. the energy I felt I lost feels like it Is coming back.
’’This is not your fault. I don’t know what is going on but I don’t want you blaming yourself. I can handle anything. Just put your faith in me. Don’t have any regrets,’’ I grab his hands in mine, squeezing them comfortingly ’’Please trust that we will come through this.’’
I wipe the tear before it falls, he looks away from me. I want him to look at me again.
’’We need to listen to the man, see what we can do. how we can fix this. Don’t panic now. I need you right now,’’ I tiptoe until my lips are on his. I just want to give him the assurance he needs.
Then we can figure out the next step.
