Ch. 131..135: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 131-135
Chapter 131: Hybrid
Darrien.
I spiralled.
I didn’t plan to overreact but, at that moment, with all the uncertainty, I lost control. I was supposed to be the calm one but Jabi ended up easing up all the madness.
Everything that is happening is driving me insane. One minute, everyone is telling me it is all okay. The next they are telling me he is in the transitional stage of being a vampire. I actually don’t want Jabi to be a vampire. I never wanted him to be like me. Living forever is not the best thing in this life. it is not something I want for him. I want Jabi to live a happy life. it doesn’t necessarily have to be eternal.
The moment I lost all control, Jabi reigned me back in even though he isn’t still in his right frame of my mind. I feel shitty for being this weak, for being unable to handle it all. I didn’t like what Blue was telling me. the fact that he doesn’t even understand what is happening is pissing me off.
He is basically saying that Jabi is becoming a vampire. What does that mean for him? is not a werewolf anymore. Is he dead now? I remember the moment he stopped breathing. I felt like I had lost him, does it mean he is no longer alive?
I don’t like what is happening and it showed with my reaction.
I tried to keep it inside but I couldn’t and now he is kissing me. sure, the kiss is making me feel better. His lips on mine, the softness and warmth I feel from being in his arms. Even though I know this is not the time for this, I can’t help but wrap my arms around him as I pull him closer. I know Blue is still in the room, this must be awkward for him but I just need a minute of this warmth. I just want to hold him a little longer. Jabi grabs the collar of my shirt as he slides his tongue into my mouth.
I breathe into him desperate for more of this comfort. Suddenly everything is forgotten. In that split second that I have him in my arms, I let go of all the worries. Maybe that was his plan all along. he wanted to calm me down and he knew how to.
Slowly he pulls back from the kiss and I rest my forehead on his own, not wanting to let go.
Let’s get through this meeting and then we will talk.
He sends me a mind link.
I ignored the last mind link he sent because I didn’t know what to tell him. I still feel guilty about everything that is happening. I don’t even know if the girl he attacked is okay. If anything happens to her, Jabi will no longer be accepted in his home. They wouldn’t care if it was out of his control. She was just a kid. He hurt a kid and that probably isn’t accepted here.
Okay.
I answer him in my head, slowly letting go of him completely. He is still in the shorts that he had on when I found him outside. There is blood all over it, he probably hasn’t even noticed it. Or else he would be freaking out by now.
Jabi is not strong enough to handle what Blue is eventually going to tell him. I don’t know if it is the best thing to tell him. I don’t know what else to do.
’’Are you okay now Darrien?’’ Blue finally breathes out patiently.
This man is pretty patient. He sat on the couch all this while and didn’t interrupt us, I don’t know if it is creepy or caring. I guess I can choose to say it is considerate.
’’Yeah,’’ I answer, leading Jabi back to the couch.
I sit down on the hand of the couch and Jabi sits on the couch comfortably. I am still holding his hand tightly, somehow, I don’t want to let go of him. He needs me right now—hell maybe I am the one that needs him.
’’Good, so you don’t remember anything from a couple of hours ago?’’ Blue asks him.
He shakes his head immediately ’’The last thing I remember was closing my eyes next to Darrien.’’
That is also the last thing I remember. Seeing him fall asleep in my arms. To me, it was the most beautiful sight to me. it made me smile, made me happy to be in his life. So you can imagine how I felt when I opened my eyes and he wasn’t next to me in bed when I heard the scream.
The fact that I didn’t even feel him when he left the room. If only I had heard him or something. All this wouldn’t be happening. he might tell me that this is not my fault, but I take all responsibility for all that has happened. It is all my fault.
’’You don’t remember being hungry?’’ Blue asks.
Jabi shakes his head ’’No, I thought about eating before I slept but I didn’t feel like getting up. I wasn’t really hungry.’’
’’Not for food. It seems like you don’t understand what I am saying,’’ Blue runs his fingers through his hair. This is the moment where he tells him the truth. I wish I could shelter this from him but I can’t.
’’What are you talking about?’’ I feel him squeeze my hand nervously. He is as worried as me, even though he is trying to be strong.
’’Blood, your hunger for blood,’’ Blue utters those words so casually. This is easy for him to say but the hardest thing I have ever had to listen to.
I watch Jabi, to see his reaction to that statement. I mean Blue already told him that he is transitioning but he is still not aware that he almost killed someone. Drinking blood from a human doesn’t always lead to death. The amount of blood you consume is a major factor. From the blood on his clothes right now and the fact that the girl he attacked was already turning blue. He was getting to the point of murder. If we didn’t show up, something worse could’ve happened.
’’What did I do?’’ he asks shakily.
Blue doesn’t hesitate to answer ’’Before I say this, I need you to know that this is not your fault. You are not suddenly a monster because of what happened. It was out of your control.’’
The fact that he is being so understanding is everything to me. Jabi needs to hear that and it needs to stick into his head. He didn’t do this on his own. His mind was in a fog. I know my link, he would never hurt anyone intentionally. He is too good of a person.
’’What did I do?’’ he repeats almost like he doesn’t need all the assurance that Blue gave him. I know his mind is stuck on the fact that he might be in trouble. Jabi doesn’t like being in the middle of a dilemma. He is the kind of person that wants to be in the shadows, away from all the eyes of everyone.
I know that feeling. I wish I could take all this away from him but there is nothing I can do. I am pretty much useless right now.
’’You attacked someone. You bit her.’’
’’Who?’’ he asks.
My eyes are on him. his hands are shaking against mine, the shivers evident. The expression on his face is blank. I don’t know what he is thinking.
’’I don’t have all the details. She is a member of the pack.’’
He lets go of my hand suddenly and I wish he would just let me be the comfort hie needs right now.
’’Is she okay?’’
That is the man I love. He wants to make sure she is fine. I hope she is fine. the problems that will arise if she dies will not be easy to handle.
’’I don’t have the details, Beau said she was going to be just fine but I cant assure you. I didn’t come here to dwell on what you did. I came here to make sure it doesn’t happen.’’
Jabi shakes his head ’’What does that even mean? Am I a monster now? I don’t remember hurting anyone,’’ he cries thinking the worst of himself.
’’You are not a monster. You just acted like a vampire starved off blood.’’
’’I don’t want to be a vampire,’’ he shouts so loud.
There it is.
My biggest worry coming out to light. I knew he didn’t want this, just as much as I don’t want it for him. the look of disgust on his face, the worry that this is the plight he will have to deal with, is all evident on his face.
’’You are not a vampire,’’ Blue interjects.
I furrow my brows finally deciding to speak ’’What do you mean?’’ I ask him because all this confusion just seems unnecessary.
He smiles, this doesn’t seem like a time to be smiling ’’Have you heard of the term Hybrid?’’
I nod immediately, knowing what he is talking about.
I don’t even wish that for Jabi.
I just want him to be himself.
Chapter 132: Cry for now
Darrien.
This cannot be happening.
Like it seems completely impossible to me. yes, the whole situation with me and Jabi seemed impossible. A werewolf and a vampire shouldn’t bond. it shouldn’t have been possible.
Now there is the possibility that he is a mixture of both. That in itself means there is a chance that something could go wrong within him. This all seems like a sick experience. The fact that he could fail.
I don’t want that.
’’It has never happened before. This will be the first case of anything like that happening,’’ blue offers.
I furrow my brows, totally confused and pissed as fuck. ’’what does this mean. Why is our case different from Beau and Alanis?’’ I remember that we are not the only ones that went through this ritual.
’’It is not different. okay, maybe it is a little different but the scent I am getting from Jabi is stronger than it is with Alanis,’’ he answers, not really answering. I am totally confused, I don’t know what he is saying. Suddenly there is vampire scent coming from Jabi. We don’t need to talk about the scent, how about the fact that he is attacking people.
He is bloodthirsty.
’’What are we going to do?’’ I ask because all I need is a solution. I don’t want to dwell on what has happened. All I want to figure out is how to make things better.
’’I need his blood.’’
’’why?’’ I sneak a glance at Jabi and he is frozen on the seat. His face is as white as a ghost. This whole ordeal is freaking him out and he can’t hide it. I don’t blame him, the only person I blame is myself. This is all my fault.
’’I want to run some tests. Fully understand what is going on within him.’’
Blue says it all so casually. What I don’t understand is how he is able to answer all these questions.
Who the hell is this guy?
’’Are you okay with me taking what I need for the tests?’’ he directs that question at Jabi. Jabi is still frozen from the shock od all that Blue poured on us tonight. I get on my knees in front of him, his pupils shift to my face. he is here but frozen. I need to bring him back to me.
’’Baby,’’ I call.
His eyes stay fixed to me. he is not processing all this well. I didn’t expect him to handle it all. Especially the uncertainty of it all. He doesn’t know what is going to happen. He is probably thinking about the fact that he almost killed someone. Jabi is the most selfless person I know. That must be his biggest worry right now.
’’Can he take your blood. We need to figure this out,’’ I am trying to be as compassionate as I can but I also need to be firm. His safety is my priority. Slowly he moves his head and I get the answer I need.
’’How do you want to do this?’’ I ask him for the first time noticing he has a bag with him.
’’The only way I know how to,’’ he says opening the bag and bringing out a spear knife.
’’You want to cut him?’’
He smiles faintly ’’Just a small cut, enough to get what I need.’’
This doesn’t make any sense.
’’Are you some kind of doctor. I don’t think this is the way it is done.’’
’’I am not a doctor,’’ he answers blankly.
’’Then don’t you think a doctor should do this?’’
He stands up from the chair and walks over to Jabi, who is still very quiet. The fear in his eyes has vanished. it seems like he is hidden in his shell right now. Blue drags the bag closer to us. I shift away from Jabi to give him some space. I really don’t know what his involvement in all this is and his skill set but he seems to know what he is doing.
’’It shouldn’t hurt and healing is not a problem for us,’’ he winks trying to make a joke.
Jabi looks at him and nods.
’’I need your hand,’’ Jabi obliges and stretches his hand out to the man. Blue grabs his hand, facing it upwards, revelling his palm. The knife is sharp. I know it will hurt him. I can already feel his pain before it even happens. I wish I could take the pain away from him.
The knife presses on his skin and I see him flinch from the pain. his blood is red as Blue slits the skin open. I watch him as he pulls out a brown container from his bag. Poring the liquid into it. Jabi tries to act tough but I know it is hurting him. There is nothing I can do but watch and wait for this to end. After a couple of seconds. He lets go of the hand and my baby closes it tight, to stop the bleeding.
’’There we go. I am sure it didn’t hurt that much,’’ he smiles at Jabi, who just manages a slight nod.
I reach for his hand and he opens it up for me. the cut on his hand is gone. No evidence of it ever being there, apart from the bloodstains.
’’That was fast,’’ Blue exclaims as he closes the container ’’Do you usually heal that fast?’’ he adds in question.
Jabi shrugs and speaks for the first time ’’I don’t usually have many injuries.’’
Blue smiles ’’Do you feel any stronger?’’
Jabi has always said he was weak.
’’Um... a little,’’ he admits.
’’It seems like you are, I need to be sure first before I make any assumptions but I don’t want you to have to worry about anything.’’
It is easy for him to tell us not to worry when worrying is the only thing I can do. I don’t have any solution to what is happening. I can not do anything to make things better. I can only be there for him. that is all I can do for now. make sure that what happened tonight doesn’t happen again. If I have to watch him for twenty-four hours.
’’Thanks, man, please let us know what you find out,’’ I walk Blue out of the house.
’’Keep an eye on him,’’ he whispers to me out of Jabi’s earshot. I still don’t know how he is feeling. I need to talk to him, assure him that everything will be alright. I am not really a believer of anything but I know that the power that brought us together brought us for a reason. I plan on standing by him until I leave this earth. Nothing is going to happen to him as long as I am alive.
I close the door and Jabi stands up from the couch as I walk to him.
’’Baby,’’ I call him.
His eyes are fixed to his shorts. Now I know he has seen the blood. Blood that is not his. He must feel terrible.
He takes off the shorts quickly, leaving him completely naked and vulnerable in my eyes. He walks into the room and I follow him as he enters the tiny bathroom by the corner of the door. The bathroom entails of a water closet and a showerhead. there is a little drain on the tiled floor, to get the water out from the shower. He opens the tap immediately and stands under it.
’’Do you need me in here with you?’’ I ask him.
He looks up from the water and shakes his head. I don’t know what is going on and I don’t know how to fix it. I can’t leave him when he is in this state. I have to be there for him. he grabs the bar of soap on the hanger and starts to scrub it all over his body. I know what he is trying to do, he is trying to wash away everything that happened today. I can’t tell if he has regrets. Does he suddenly hate me, I am the one that caused this for him.
This is all my fault.
I hear his sobs, he is trying to be quiet but they are loud enough for me. the pain on the surface of each breath. I take a closer step into the bathroom, ignoring the fact that my clothes will get wet. I pull him into my arms and he rests his head on my shoulder, completely breaking down in my arms. This is a lot for someone as fragile as Jabi to handle. I need to be his source of strength. I need to assure him that everything will be alright. He needs to believe that this will only bring better beginnings.
I font know how I plan to do all that but I will be there for him. no harm will come his way.
’’It’s okay baby,’’ I stroke his wet hair gently as he cries harder.
I want him to let it all out. Cry now until we can figure out what to do.
I won’t let him down.
Chapter 133: In hiding
Beau.
’’This is ridiculous. I knew it was a mistake letting those vampires into the community. If anything should happen to Marcella, I will not let it slide,’’ Bas exclaims angrily. I think at this point they have both calmed down a bit. I can’t really blame them because I know what they are going through. Having a loved one hurt, in your safe place. The place you call your home is not the best feeling ever.
I completely understand but I will not let them do anything to Jabi. Jabi is important to me. In the heat of my anger, I almost hurt him. I don’t know what I would have done if Darrien wasn’t there. I am grateful for him because if I had hurt the kid, I would’ve never forgiven myself.
We are at the reception of the infirmary. Ogma assured us that she was fine. I don’t think Jabi’s intention was to hurt the kid. All I saw in his eyes were hunger. He didn’t go with the intent to kill. I still believe he is harmless, I know there is something wrong with him right now but we will figure out and find a way to help him. No matter what.
Cassius is still looming in the corners. I can’t stop thinking about him. He is my main focus, the one person I will not ease up on. We haven’t heard from the vampires. They should’ve gotten back by now. There is this part of me that is hopeful, the fear that he figured it all out and now they are dead.
I don’t want to be the reason, they will lose their lives.
I will hate that so much.
’’Let’s remain calm in this situation. This was an accident. Let’s just be glad that Marcella is alright,’’ I try to keep a firm tone with them. At the end of this all, I am still their leader. I still call all the shots and I can’t have them threatening me.
Jabi made a mistake and I don’t think he deserves to be punished for something that was out of his control. This could’ve happened to me, it could’ve happened to anyone. He didn’t choose to become this.
’’A vampire attacked my child, you expect me to remain calm,’’ Bas shouts so loud that it echoes through the walls of the building. He jumps to my front, almost like he wants to attack me. I am not scared of him. This man is all bark and bite.
’’She was not attacked by a vampire,’’ I tell him blankly.
That is the truth. Jabi is not a vampire. He thinks he can shout it out so that everyone will hear and somehow start to fear the vamps, but I will not let him do that.
’’What are you talking about?’’ Devine speaks more calm than her husband.
I look away from him and to her ’’you are aware that I had my ritual a couple of days ago?’’
She nods, I continue ’’Well Jabi, had his, with another vampire and apparently some things we didn’t foresee happened.’’ This is the only way I can explain this to them. I don’t have all the details. I don’t even know what is happening with the kid.
Lanis seems fine to me, apart from the different scents in him. I just hope there is nothing that will deter us from everything that is important right now. Cassius is the most important thing we are dealing with right now. Bas and his anger is irrelevant to me.
’’This is all abnormal. I knew it the moment you brought them here. Fallon was right all along.’’ Bas grimaces.
I stiffen from his words. He is one of the people that made Fallon feel important. He is one of the people that were on his side. There is anger boiling within me. The same anger that I let go of. I know at this moment, I should’ve given in to the anger. I need to let it all go. Taking a deep breath, I keep the blank expression on my face. I will not let this get to me.
’’I understand how you feel, you are speaking in anger and it is fine but think about your words clearly before you spill them out,’’ I warn him. He should look into my eyes and see that I am being serious right now. I will not have him speak that way. The fact that Fallon killed the Alpha of the pack means he is a threat to the pack and anyone that is on his side is an enemy to the pack.
Ogma takes this opportunity to walk out of the room Marcella is and we all look up at the same time. This is a good distraction because I don’t know how to handle Bas.
’’How is my daughter,’’ Devine runs over to her, grabbing her hands.
Ogma manages a faint smile ’’She is fine, lost a lot of blood but she will be alright,’’ she informs them and I am completely glad.
’’Can we see her?’’ they both ask at the same time. I watch them head to the direction of the door and I finally release the breath I have been holding all this while.
My phone vibrates in my pocket and I see an unknown number on the ID. There could only be one person that would be calling right now and that is Bade.
They said they would call the moment they had a chance and right now, I need a slim chance of hope. No matter how small it is.
’’Hello,’’ I answer the call immediately.
’’I don’t have enough time. I had to sneak out to make this call,’’ I hear Brone instead of Bade. Somehow their voices are recognizable to me. I don’t know what he is about to say but I will take anything right now.
’’I appreciate this call. What do you have for us.’’
He takes a deep breath ’’Cassius is in hiding. No one has seen him since the attack. I heard an Eli paid him a visit, so he is trying to cover his tracks for now.’’
Okay, so he has nothing right now.
’’I just wanted to update you on what I have even though it is nothing much. I will call you immediately I know anything.’’
He ends the call without waiting for a reply. I don’t even have anything to say. The fact that even the people working for Cassius don’t know where he is, is a cause for alarm. I am worried as fuck but I still have to remain calm.
’’I just came from his house,’’ I hear Blue’s voice, as calm as usual. Slowly, I turn around and he is in front of the door to the exit.
’’Jabi,’’ I ask him as I walk towards him.
’’Yeah.’’
’’How is he? What happened,’’ I look down and he is clutching a bag in his grip.
’’I apologize for not seeing all this before it happened. I am usually quick to point these things out. I have never experienced this kind of unique mating in all my years.’’
The fact that he is apologizing for this means a lot to me but this is not on him. This is completely on me. I should’ve paid more attention to the kid. Jabi has always been like a baby brother to me. I always felt a special bond towards him. It made me think about him when no one else cared. The way I was so focused on Lanis, I should’ve done the same to him.
’’It’s not your fault.’’
He manages a smile. Blue is helping me a lot more than the members of my pack. I just met the guy and I trust him a lot more than everyone here.
’’Jabi’s transition is different from Alanis. The fact that he is an omega probably added to it. His wolf didn’t take charge of the ritual. They didn’t complete it on the full moon.’’
’’I heard, is that what caused it?’’
He shakes his head ’’No, omegas usually leave all the control to the alpha during rituals. Darrien is not a wolf, so he did things the way he would as a vampire. In turn, Jabi didn’t mark him. Jabi died that morning he was brought here. At least his heart stopped for a second. Do you know how to get turned to a vampire?’’ he asks me.
I am still trying to process all he is saying.
’’Yes, drinking a vampires blood,’’ I answer him.
He nods ’’It doesn’t usually take effect unless your heart stops, Jabi’s heart stopped. So Darrien turned him into a vampire.’’
All he is saying has me completely confused. Jabi is a wolf. His mate is a vampire. he got turned by his mate, so does that make him a vampire now?
’’So is he a vampire now?’’
He shakes his head ’’Not exactly.’’
I knew it couldn’t be straightforward. Nothing is straightforward with our mating. There is always an ’or else’.
’’What is it?’’ I ask him.
’’The kid’s wolf is still a fighter. He is still inside him. His scent is just as strong as the vampire scent in him.’’
’’What does that make him?’’
Blue smiles, almost like this is exciting to him. ’’I am not certain yet, I still need to run some tests but it seems the Jabi is a hybrid.’’
I know what that is instantly. We have only heard about Hybrids. I have never come across one before. Most Hybrids are both wolves and witches. There has never been a vampire and Werewolf hybrid.
Wow.
Chapter 134: Wish you didn’t have to suffer
Alanis.
The Elis leave and father asks me into his office. I have been stalling because talking to him means explaining everything that has happened to me. I am not saying he was right, but there are some things that are happening that make me think he is, not that anything would’ve changed if I actually knew the outcome of the ritual.
’’Come in,’’ he urges me as he walks in and stops in front of his desk. The room is dark except for a little lamp on the table next to his chair.
I walk into the room and the expression on his face is not inviting. I know he is not happy with me.
’’Darrien did the ritual too,’’ he mutters blankly as I sit down in front of him.
Oh. The source of his anger is not me. Darrien didn’t tell him, maybe that is why he is so upset right now.
’’Yes, we did it together.’’
Being honest is the most important thing right now. There is no point hiding this from him. He will find out eventually and it is better it comes from us. This is not my truth to tell but Darrien is nonchalant about these things. He should have informed Father about this, but he didn’t feel the need to.
’’How did it turn out?"
I know what he is fishing for. He wants me to go into details. I don’t have the information he needs because as at right now, I don’t even know how it is going. Everything is still uncertain to me. The fact that I don’t even know what is going on inside me, cannot be explained to him.
’’We are not sure yet,’’ I tell him honestly.
He manages an insincere smile. Father is not happy; I can tell that much. There is this disappointment lingering in the pits of his heart. He doesn’t want this for me.
’’I didn’t want this for you,’’ he admits, which confuses me.
He didn’t choose this, no one chose this. It happened and even though I never expected it. I didn’t have a say in it but I don’t regret it. I have never been happier in my whole life. Even through all the drama with Cassius and Fallon. Seeing Beau and his beautiful face makes up for it.
’’No one chose this,’’ I retort wanting to make things clear for him.
He shakes his head, removing his glasses. His eyes focus on mine, there is a sadness deep within them. I feel his pain, not sure why it is there in the first place. I am not complaining about this. Everyone seems to be worried for me when I am not even worried. Beau is scared that something will happen to me, Eligio and now m father. I wish they would all have faith in me and this process. i never disagreed on my mating with Beau, from the first day I found out about it, I accepted it. I felt it deep within, there was a pull that no one can take away from me. I couldn’t deny it, I didn’t even want to deny it.
I love him so much that a life without him is unimaginable.
’’I never wanted you to suffer. You suffered enough before I found you. I thought turning you would be a way for you to truly live the life you were supposed to but now I see that I was wrong.’’
This is the life I am supposed to live.
’’I am not suffering,’’ I tell him point-blank.
He sighs running his hands through his hair. I notice the mess he makes on it immediately. ’’You don’t know it yet because you are so in love with the wolf but there is a lot of destruction ahead. Nothing is going to be easy. You will have a lot to deal with.’’
I already know all this. I don’t care, as long as I have Beau by my side. I don’t care about anything else.
’’You can’t control every single thing that happens to me. I will forever be indebted to your for saving me. I will never forget all the love and kindness you have shown me, but you have to let me choose my own destiny. At the end of the day, this is my life, it is mine to live, alone.’’
I don’t know If he is really listening to me. I can see it now, the fact that he blames himself for this. Everyone seems to blame themselves for everything that has been happening. I don’t see it as something that needs to be thought about so deeply. This is like any normal link to me. yes, it is different, but I love him and that is all the bonding is about at the end of the day.
’’This will not end well. You think this is a blessing. A gift from the god’s but I think it is a mistake. This is all a big mistake that we will all regret.’’
Now he is going too far.
He is calling my love for Beau a mistake. This is not a mistake if there is one thing I am certain about. I am meant to be with Beau. This was all meant to happen.
I stand up from the chair, looming above him because I will not sit here and let him make a mockery of my relationship. Father needs to accept this or he will end up losing me. Beau is my number one priority. Everyone else comes second to him.
’’You will take back your words. I promise you will see how special our relationship is. I just hope you don’t end up losing me at the end.’’
He shakes his head and releases a loud sigh of exasperation. I feel the same way. The fact that I have to keep convincing people that this is meant to be is fucking exhausting. I am done trying to prove to people that our love is meant to be. If they don’t see it, then I will let them continue being blind.
I need to focus on Beau and the pack.
So we can have a beautiful life together.
’’I love you more than anything. You are my child and I will never abandon you. I am just tired of seeing you hurt,’’ he admits. I completely believe him. father is a control freak. He likes things to go his way.
Right now, it seems like nothing is going his way. If this was in his hands. I would’ve never done the ritual with Beau but deep down he knows that he can’t control this. He knows that I have no choice but to do this.
’’I promise, things will work out,’’ I try to assure him because I have never been more sure about anything.
after my meeting with him, I head back to my room to get a few of my things. don’t get me wrong, I actually like wearing Beau’s clothes but they are all pretty big for me and it would be good to have some of my stuff in his house.
My phone rings in my pocket and I am surprised to see a call from Beau. The last time I heard from him was through a mind link. The fact that he is calling me is worrisome. Any little thing that happens has me worried. Their community is not the safest place right now, that is why I didn’t even want to leave in the first place. It has just been a couple of days, since Cassius’s attack but I know he will be back eventually. We have to be ready when he does try to attack again but my hopes right now are Bade and Brone. If we could get to him before he gets to us. He wouldn’t know what hit him.
Right now, beau shouldn’t be calling me, especially since I told him I would be coming back soon. The Elis want to meet him. I told them I would let them know by tomorrow. It would be good to have them on our side.
’’Hello,’’ I answer his call with a smile on my face.
He releases a heavy sigh into the phone and I know something is wrong from just that. The smile on my face wipes off instantly. What could have gone wrong in the couple of hours that I left?
’’What happened?’’ I am quick to ask because I can tell something happened. Now all I have are regrets. I should’ve never come home. He needs me with him all the time.
’’Where are you?’’
I drop the bag in my grip, completely stopping the clothes stuffing I am doing.
’’I am still at home. Dad wanted to talk to me.’’
’’Haven’t you been talking to him all day?’’
I remember that I didn’t tell him about the Elis. the plan was to talk to him about it when I got home. Right now, it seems like the least of his problems.
’’What happened?’’ I aks him again.
’’Can you come home?’’ he avoids answering my question.
Now I know something is wrong. Just from his voice, I can tell that something happened while I was away.
Am I ready for whatever it is?
Chapter 135: I don’t care what you are as long as i have you.
Darrien.
He trembles all through the night.
I don’t know what to do to make this better. All I can do is try to comfort him by holding him, assuring him that everything would be alright but I don’t even know anymore.
Time goes by slowly. I wait and wait for the dawn of a new day but time stands still. After his crying in the shower, he put on my shirt and crawled into the bed. I think the best thing for him right now is to sleep. After everything, he has been through. I wish I could take all his pain. I wish this was me. all the suffering could be transferred to me, I will take it in a heartbeat.
Jabi doesn’t deserve this.
All his life, he has suffered. I thought I could come into his life and make things better. I thought I could be that light at the end of the tunnel for him but now it seems like I am the cause of all his problems. This happened because of me. he is this way because of me.
Would I take it all back if I had the chance?
’’This is not your fault,’’ he breathes out and I realise that he is awake. I didn’t even notice him wake up. Something is seriously wrong with me. I can feel myself getting weaker but the thought of leaving him right now to get blood is unthinkable to me. what if something happens while I leave him. I don’t want a repeat of what happened earlier. I need to stay by his side until things calm down.
’’I didn’t say it was,’’ I lie. I don’t want him worrying about this. All he needs to do is channel all his energy into getting better. That is all that is important to me.
’’You’re thinking it,’’ he glares at me with this adorable scowl. There is nothing that he would do that I wouldn’t think was cute. Fuck I am hooked.
’’How do you know what I am thinking,’’ I ask him jokingly.
I like that things are chill right now. The mood these couple of hours has been tense. I am not saying things are back to normal. It has just been hours but I want us to forget about everything for the rest of the night. I don’t want to think about what Beau pans to do to him.
I don’t want to think about all that.
’’I know you. I see it in your eyes,’’ he points to my face with that same expression on his face. for the first time tonight, I notice how pale he is looking. The more I see him, the more I notice the changes in him. so Blue thinks he is a hybrid. I mean, so what If he is. It might be the best thing that could happen to him. Jabi is not the strongest person. In fact, when I look at him, I wish I could fatten him up. I don’t like how skinny he is, how frail he looks. Maybe him being immortal will help him get the strength he needs.
I want that for him so badly.
I don’t want people to take him for granted. I want him to be able to stand on his two feet.
’’What is in my eyes?’’ I ask amused by this conversation. It is light and that is what I need right now.
’’Fear, worry. Guilt.’’
Okay, he got everything right.
’’You don’t have to feel guilty. This is not your fault.’’
I shake my head.
’’It feels like it is though,’’ I admit out loud for the first time since he attacked that girl.
When I think of the attack, I blame myself for not hearing him wake up. If I did, I would’ve been able to control the situation. He woke up hungry and he went looking for food. Jabi would never forgive himself if he had ended up killing that girl. Right now, the fact that she is still alive is the only reason why there is a faint smile on his face.
’’But it’s not,’’ he interjects ’’I don’t want you to blame yourself for this. don’t ever think about this and think it is your fault.’’
I nod.
He glares at me with the most serious expression he can muster up but all it looks to me is cute—so fucking cute.
’’I am warning you. I don’t want you to think about this anymore. The moment I see you feeling guilty again. I will smack you,’’ he pokes me in the chest playfully.
Seriously, how did I get so lucky? I know this is all a lot for him but here he is trying to make me feel better about it all.
’’You have my word. I won’t again.’’
I love him so much.
I lean forward and plant a soft kiss on his temple. He closes his eyes and I keep my lips pressed to his in my arms. ’’I am hungry,’’ he confesses, still in my arms. I pull back just so I can see his face and his cheeks are red. He is embarrassed to tell me that he is hungry.
’’We have a lot of stuff in the fridge, what do you feel like eating?’’
I don’t know if he still has an appetite for meat. I mean, this whole hybrid situation has me confused. Is he still a werewolf, does he still have werewolf cravings?
’’I don’t know, it feels like my stomach is all dried up,’’ he shrugs meekly.
You see, the fact that he is feeling this way has me worried. Makes me feel guilty all over again. I don’t want him to ever be hungry. I don’t want him to worry about food.
What can I do to make sure that never happens?
’’Maybe just normal food?’’ he suggests.
I mean, why not just go in between. He needs food right now, even though we can’t decipher what he actually wants to eat. Anything is better than no food. I get up from the bed and he follows me quietly. I grab his hand in mine making him walk beside me, and he blushes like the cute little puppy he is.
We get to his tiny kitchen and I open the fridge. I see the blood bags instantly. I didn’t even know this was here. There is a note on it from Alanis.
You’ll thank me when you really need it.
A.
I didn’t even know he put this here. The smell of the blood travels through my nose and the thirst that I have been avoiding kicks in. This is actually not the time to be thinking about myself. My baby is hungry, and I need to feed him. I hear his breathing spike up and this makes me turn to look at him. the veins around his eyes are protruding out, almost like arrows to his now blue eyes. His fangs have come out again.
This is happening again.
Why?
’’Jabi?’’ I call his name, but his eyes are still stuck to the inside of the fridge. He is looking at the blood. Is that what he is hungry for?
’’Jabi,’’ I call his name again. This time, his eyes dart to my face. he is still breathing heavily. ’’Hey, you want this?’’ I grab a bag from the fridge, and he nods immediately.
I don’t know if he is himself right now but as I said, I will give him anything he wants. If he wants blood, then I will gladly give it to him.
’’Can you try and talk?’’ I want him to be himself when I give him this. I don’t like the way he slips out of his own mind.
’’i..i...’’ he manages in a stutter.
Those are the only words that come out but they are good enough for me. I rip the paper off the bag with my teeth and place the bag in front of him. he grips the bag but I don’t let go of it, so as he places it in his mouth, I press it out for him. He rushes to drink the blood, so some spill out of his mouth to the sides of his face. this is really weird for me, this must be weird for him. it has just been a couple of hours since he attacked that girl. Does this mean that he didn’t have enough of her blood?
Why Is he so hungry?
I watch him as he devours the bag completely emptying it. this is my werewolf Link—now I don’t know if I can even say that anymore. His eyes never leave me as he drinks it all.
I don’t know if he is really here but as long as he doesn’t attack anyone or try to kill anyone I will always give him the blood he needs. At this point I don’t care if he is a vampire or a werewolf—fuck I will take him as a hybrid. As long as I have him, that is all that fucking matters.
He is my life.
