Ch. 136..140: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 136-140
Chapter 136: Yin to my Yang
Alanis.
I get to the compound immediately I get the call from Beau and I see Eligio at the gates. Guess he is on guard duty tonight.
’’What went wrong while I was away?’’ I ask immediately because I can’t deal with anything bad right now.
He shrugs but I know he knows.
’’All this worrying is driving me insane.’’
’’It’s the kid,’’ he confesses.
Okay. We call Jabi the kid. So something happened with Jabi. The last time I heard anything about Jabi had to do with the ritual, I already know that it has something to dow with the ritual. Something must have gone wrong and now Beau is beating himself up for it. anything that has to do with the ritual somehow affects me in his mind.
’’I should find Beau,’’ I tell El, leaving him at the gates. I know where he is immediately I get into the compound. Almost like I can feel him; I mean that has been our relationship from the beginning of time. I can always find him—wherever he is.
I get to the infirmary and he is seated on a chair in the reception. He looks up immediately he sees me. A smile spreads to his face at once, like a relief to see me. I know this is not easy for him. I know Beau and his first reaction to things aren’t always so pretty. I feel like my position is to keep him under control. I will gladly take that position for the rest of my life. Be the yin to his yang. The moon to his earth. He needs me and I am not shy or afraid to say that out loud. Just like I need him too.
He stands up but doesn’t move. I am in front of the door. I don’t know if this is a great time to be here because I don’t even know what is going on but when he takes the first step towards me, I know that he needs me closer. His eyes are red. It doesn’t look like he has been crying. He just looks terribly stressed. I know he started his training today. is that why he looks so worn out?
He stops in front of me, the smile is still plastered on his face. ’’Things went to shit while you were gone,’’ he settles on those words.
Eligio gave me a glimpse but I have the feeling that I don’t even know the half of it ’’You look exhausted. What did you do all day?’’
He shrugs, we are close enough, but no one reaches out for the other. Looking at him right now all I want is to pull him into my arms but I need to talk to him first. Need to make sure he is okay before I give in to my selfish desires.
’’Jules had me transform a million times. Cannot count how many times I broke my bones and put them back together.’’
I can’t imagine how terrible that was.
’’Did you get the desired effect?’’
I don’t know what kind of training he had but If It was successful then I guess all the pain was worth it.
’’Yeah, the side of me that scared the hell out of you that time,’’ he admits.
He knows how seeing him like that made me feel. The fact that I was the one that caused it that day made it even worse. I aggravated him, and in his anger, he was scary.
’’What happened when I was away?’’ I change the topic because we need to focus on the now.
’’Jabi lost control, he attacked someone.’’
I furrow my brows in confusion. I don’t think we are talking about the same person. Jabi the kid. That frail boy attacked someone? He doesn’t even look like he can hurt a fly.
How is that possible?
’’Yeah, I didn’t think it was possible too. I mean, have you seen the kid? Seeing him on top of that girl will forever be etched to my mind.’’
’’How did that happen?’’
Before he can answer my question, a door opens and a man walks out with one of the healers. He frowns when he sees me.
’’You had the fucking guts to bring one of them here?’’ he growls so loud it echoes through the halls.
Oh, he is talking about me.
I am one of them?
’’He is the mate of the Alpha, so I demand some respect when referring to him,’’ beau scolds him calmly.
It looks like this is not his first confrontation with this man. the man looks very upset with him.
’’He should not be here after my daughter was attacked by his kind.’’ He shouts furiously.
Now I see why he is so angry.
’’I need you to keep your composure, Bas. This will all be sorted out.’’
He stops in front of Beau ’’The only way this can be sorted out if they all leave the community. They are a risk to us. Their bloodthirst cannot be controlled.’’
At this point I am confused. This seems like an attack on vampires. What does Jabi have to do with this?
’’If you recall, Jabi is a werewolf. He is one of us. so this is not about the vampires.’’
The man scoffs ’’That kid is not a werewolf anymore. The day he mated with a vampire. He gave up that title.’’
Now that doesn’t make any sense but I decide to remain quiet. This is not my place. I know Beau can handle this. He doesn’t need me right now. He’s got this.
’’Are you saying I gave up my title too?’’ he raises a brow.
’’I don’t care about you. I want that kid banished. He needs to leave the community before he hurts more of our kids.’’
Okay, this guy is being very vile right now.
’’I cannot do that. I will handle this the way I think is fair. You will not tell me what to do.’’
Beau’s tone is firm.
Damn, I like the way he sounds right now.
’’I want to see your daughter, make sure she is okay. Do I have your permission?’’ he asks calmly almost like he is putting an end to the discussion.
The man—Bas, nods his head and walks back to the nurse. Beau faces me again, this time there is no smile on his face.
’’Will you wait for me in my room? I just need to make sure the girl is okay, and I will be with you.’’
I nod because there is nothing more here for me to do. once I get some alone time with him, I will talk to him about the Elis.
’’You sure you’ll be okay?’’
He winks ’’Nothing can bring me down,’’ he pats my shoulder softly and his grip lingers a little longer than he needed but it is not like I am complaining.
I get to his house and Rex and Bell’s are in the kitchen. They seem to be deep in conversation, and from their silence, it seems like they don’t want me to be part of their conversation.
’’Hey, you’re back,’’ Bells announces, looking guilty as fuck.
I raise a brow in question. They look suspicious but these are the only people I actually trust in this pack. They are the only ones that I know are not up to anything. They are Beau’s family.
’’Yeah, why are you here?’’ I ask her because these couple of days If she is not on guard duty, she remains stuck to her mate.
’’I wanted to talk to Rex,’’ she admits.
So they were talking about something. Why don’t they want to tell me what it is.
Don’t say anything.
I read Bell’s mind. okay, now I know she is hiding something from me. what could she possibly be keeping from me? I mean, what could they even be talking about that has to do with me.
’’Say anything about what?’’ I raise a brow.
Bell’s sighs loudly, that guilty expression still plastered on their faces. Whatever they are keeping has to do with me. they need to let me know before.
’’You can’t be reading our minds, Alanis. That is not cool.’’
I shrug, they left me no choice.
’’Tell me what you are hiding,’’ I demand with a firm tone. This feels like it involves me and I will like to know.
’’Promise you will not freak out,’’ Rex speaks up for the first time. He is the one that is most likely going to spill the beans.
’’Tell me what it is, I don’t have time for this shit,’’ I am getting angsty but can they blame me.
’’It is about Maddie.’’
Maddie has been out of my mind for a while now. I don’t have the time to think about her and her betrayal. There is a certain time of anger I feel for her.
I nod, telling them to carry on.
Bell’s looks away from me and I focus on Rex as he tells me what I was eventually going to find out.
’’She’s dead.’’
I don’t know how I feel about it. I knew that her involvement with Cassius would eventually get her killed but there is a part of me that feels bad.
Maybe if she wasn’t involved with me, all this wouldn’t have happened to her.
Almost like it is my fault but I know that it isn’t. she chose the life she was dealt with. The pain I feel is mostly for her parents.
They didn’t deserve this.
Chapter 137: My weakness
Alanis.
’’How do you know?’’ I ask because I want to know. If this is true then there is one less person I have to worry about. I know I should feel sad or at least a little bad but Maddie was a threat to Beau, anyone that tries to threaten him is an enemy to me.
She betrayed me and now she has paid the price. I don’t feel anything, I am not sad, hurt or even remorseful towards her.
’’Her body was found. Decapitated from her head.’’
So even with the immortality that she desperately wanted, she still had a short life. I don’t even know what she was thinking in her final moments. Did she regret all her decisions?
’’Okay.’’
This doesn’t mean anything to me. her death has no significance. Cassius is the one person that I want to see his end. I will enjoy his death. For all the people he has hurt, killed. Each one of them will be avenged.
I leave Rex and Bell’s and go into his room. He said he was going to be with me soon. Then he can explain what the fuck went wrong while I was away. I get to his room and he is already inside. He looks like he was about to have a shower as he is completely naked and heading towards the bathroom.
’’Where did you wander off to?’’ he asks with a wide smile. My eyes stay fixed to me.
I walk up to him and he wraps his arms around me, pulling me closer. I inhale a long breath, taking his scent in. He smells of sweat, probably from all the work he did training today. To me, it smells like home. Who would’ve thought that I would find someone stink appealing to me?
’’I was in the kitchen, you should’ve heard us when you came into the house. Why didn’t you stop by?’’
He shrugs ’’I don’t want to see anyone right now,’’ he admits probably frustrated from all the interactions he’s had today.
’’Even me?’’
He shakes his head immediately ’’You are the only one I want to see,’’ he kisses me after that revelation and I get sucked into his orbit, completely forgetting all the problems at hand. I need to talk to him about Jabi. Darrien must be beside and over himself if something actually happened to the kid. I already know that much.
Begrudgingly I pull away from the kiss and he rests his forehead on mine, closing his eyes slowly. I keep my eyes open because suddenly I am worried about him. it seemed like the was a big issue back there and I don’t know how he is feeling right now.
’’Are you okay?’’ I question worriedly.
He opens his eyes and wipes out the grim expression from his face, switching it up with a smile ’’I am... just kinda tired. I can’t wait for all this to be over,’’ he expresses and my heart breaks because I feel the same way and there is nothing I can do to make this better.
’’What happened today?’’ I remind him.
He sighs loudly ’’Jabi bit someone?’’
I don’t know what he means, so I furrow my brows in confusion. He pulls away from me. I have never seen him this tired in all the while I have known him. the training must have taken a toll on him.
’’Is he okay?’’ I ask because I need to make sure nothing happened to him. I haven’t heard from Darrien, so I am under the assumption that the kid is fine but the worry on Beau’s face is not helping me right now.
’’Yes, he hurt a kid just like him. a girl in the pack, now her father is using this as an opportunity to blame it all on the vampires.’’
Oh, I see. That’s why he was so bitter towards me. I know that a lot of the wolves that are not in support of me and my kind. They act like they are because they are cowards. No one is ready to face Beau and challenge him, but I know they are not accepting of this mating. At least sixty percent of the pack.
’’Is the girl okay?’’
He nods, she just lost a lot of blood, but she is awake and well.’’
That is a good thing. He didn’t kill her as long as there was no death, there is redemption. They will get over their anger and hate. They are all just looking for a reason to lash out. Everyone wants to find a reason to start a war.
’’You look tired, have you eaten today?’’
He smiles, going back into boyfriend zone. I don’t want him to start thinking about it and worry. I want to be that comfort that makes him forget about everything. I think that is my main job.
’’No, I am actually hungry,’’ he admits trying to grab unto me again. I let him cuddle into me. totally enjoying the warmth I get from him.
’’Why don’t you have a shower and I will get food from the kitchen for you?’’I suggest which gets a groan from him.
’’I wanted to have a shower with you,’’ he cries like the big baby that he is.
I chuckle ’’There will be other showers. My man is hungry and I need to feed him.’’
He laughs heartily, the smile on his face widens. This is what I want. I want him to always be happy with me.
That smile—I live for it.
’’Fine, you win this round but I won’t take no for an answer the next time.’’
I nod slowly letting go of him again. He walks to the direction of the bathroom but stops before entering.
’’Oh, before I forget, the vampires called.’’
Okay. That is important news.
’’And?’’
He shrugs ’’There is no news, they haven’t seen Cassius. Apparently, he is in hiding. Something about the Elis finding him.’’
’’About the Eli’s,’’ I suddenly remember that I am supposed to tell him about the meeting.
He nods ’’Yeah?’’
I don’t know how he feels about them. Will he agree to a meeting? Would he want help from them? I really don’t know how he feels about them but I have to try and convince him that he needs to trust them. These are the first of my kind.
’’They want to set a meeting with you.’’
He furrows his brows ’’Why?’’
I don’t know because they didn’t tell me but I know they want to talk about Cassius. That much is obvious—at least.
’’It has to do with Cassius.’’
He scoffs ’’I don’t fucking need their help. We are fine on our own.’’
So I see he is not forthcoming about them. The question I have is why? He doesn’t really know anything about them.
’’Why not, we don’t even know what they want. why not just meet them and then figure it out from there?’’
He laughs ’’Baby, these people cant help us. no one can help us, I have to kill Cassius. I don’t need anyone telling me that already when I know. Just trust me. we will get to him.’’
There is a confidence that is dripping from him. the kind that I haven’t seen in him before—like ever. Usually, I have to be the one to assure him, to boost his confidence levels but now, it seems like it si the other way round right now. I love this so much.
But I also know he can’t refuse this meeting.
’’I know, I trust you. I trust us. we don’t need them but indulge me and let’s see what they have to say.’’
He sighs really loudly, I see the frustration on his face but because it is me, I know he will give in. I can always bask in the fact that with him, I can get what I want. it is the most amazing feeling ever to know that he will always give in to me. I am his one weakness, just as he is mine.
It feels fucking incredible.
’’Fine baby. You win. When do they want this meeting? Can we do tomorrow?’’
I smile, that cheeky smile and this makes him walk back to me swiftly and grab me by my waist. He pulls me up till my legs are wrapped around him ’’You are such a big baby,’’ he exclaims, kissing me on my cheek. I giggle in his arms, completely enjoying this moment. It is so trivial but it means the world to me. I can’t wait for everything to be over.
I can’t wait to have little moments like this.
’’Get in the shower, you stink,’’ I jump off him which makes him laugh joyously.
My eyes follow him as he walks back into the shower. Once the door is closed, I head for the door. I open his room door but a sound from the bathroom stops me. it is loud and it seems like someone crashed into something. Hurriedly, I walk back into the bathroom and he is on his knees, in front of the sink, clutching unto his head.
’’Beau,’’ I call his name worriedly.
His eyes are closed, his breathing is fast and heavy. Something feels wrong, I just can’t tell what it is.
Chapter 138: The connection.
Beau.
’’We need to end this. This is the first pack that has ever been this much of a problem.’’
I recognise the voice immediately as I try to remain on my feel. This is Cassius’s voice. Why does it sound like it is so close? It feels like he is in this bathroom with me. the voice gets closer which makes me fall to the ground. It is like this sharp banging in my head.
’’What is the plan boss?’’
There is another voice in my head. this time someone I don’t recognise. There are just voices I can’t see them but they seem so real. The pain gets stronger as the voices get clearer.
’’One final ambush, when they least expect it.’’
Cassius mutters to the person. The voice starts to fade before I can get anything concrete. I grip the edges of the sink as I feel Lanis next to me.
’’Baby,’’ he calls me, the worry evident in his shaking voice. I open my eyes as I try to control my breathing. he grabs me by my shoulders and pulls me up, taking control of my body, he leads me into the bedroom again.
’’What happened?’’ he asks immediately.
I already know what he is thinking. Something went wrong with the ritual. This doesn’t have anything to do with the ritual. For a moment, I felt connected to Cassius. I was hearing him in my head. how is that even possible.
’’Cassius,’’ I mutter because I feel like all the energy in me has been drained. If you add the training session to all my burdens, it has taken a toll on me.
’’Come on, let’s get you to bed,’’ he manages, still shaking.
Lanis is worrying. I don’t want him to worry. I am fine right now ’’Hey,’’ I manage to stand up on my own ’’I am fine,’’ I try to assure him.
He shakes his head ’’No you’re not. You passed out.’’ He exclaims.
I chuckle ’’I didn’t pass out, I just lost control of my movement. I heard his voice,’’ I tell him being completely transparent. Even if this is me losing my mind, I know Lanis is the only one that wouldn’t think so. He is the only one that will believe me, no matter what.
’’What do you mean?’’
I point to my head ’’Like in here, I heard him talking to someone. They were talking about the pack.’’
’’Could that mean something, almost like how I saw you when he had you?’’ he suggests.
I shake my head ’’I don’t think it is the same. It felt like he couldn’t sense me. I could feel him, it was so real but he couldn’t sense me.’’
He smiles ’’This is a good thing. We should speak to Eligio about this. do you know what we could do with being inside his head?’’
I think the exact same thing. We will always be one step ahead if we could get into his head. we can get to him and then attack. This is the best thing that could happen. I want to hear more.
’’He talked about an attack. He is planning to attack again,’’ I tell him what I heard.
He nods ’’We will be ready for him when he comes. This time will not be like the others. Can we get back into this when you eat? You need all the strength you can get right now.’’
He is right. I am very hungry.
’’Okay,’’ I accept.
He smiles ’’Why don’t I get you something to eat like we originally planned. Do you think you are up for your shower?’’
I nod my head immediately ’’Yeah, I can do it.’’
The face is, the voices were unexpected. Hence my reaction but they didn’t affect me or make me weaker. They just come with a splitting headache. He ruffles my hair playfully and plants a soft kiss on my forehead ’’You got this babe. I will call Eligio to come into the house. We got this.’’ he winks and my heart melts from his words.
We.
I love that he is with me on this.
The way he groups us. makes me not feel so alone. This is everything to me. it means the world and I will never take it for granted. There are so many obstacles but the more things happen, the stronger we are. This whole ordeal has helped us get closer.
I appreciate all the bad things because they lead to good.
I watch him walk out of my room and the smile remains plastered on my face. once in the showers, my mind clouds back to Cassius. He knows that I will not let him off the hook easily. He thinks he will just succeed in eliminating my whole pack but he wouldn’t. He is messing with an angry wolf. The kind that will do anything to win.
I have lost so much, I lost my family. There is no one left from my bloodline except me and Fallon. The fact that I might have to kill him too lingers in my mind. I have not forgotten about Fallon. He is still at the back of my mind. I know he will still come back. He is a coward and he ran away from the fear but I am sure once things settle down here, he will back to try to claim everything he so desperately wants.
Fallon is even more of an enemy to me because he killed my father in cold blood. He didn’t even put up a fight or try to challenge him. He caught him off guard and hurt him.
The weakest way to kill someone.
The same way Cassius’s family was killed.
When I think about Cassius, there is a little part of me that pities him. I wish his life didn’t have to turn out the way it did. He was just a kid that harnessed so much hate that it eventually turned him into a monster.
I close my eyes as the water seeps down my body, calming down all my tensed muscles. Today was hell, but I saw the potential I have. The strength I muster within me.
Uncle Jules showed it all to me.
With all the anger I tried to let go of today, I saw what I could do. how strong I could be.
There is more to come and Cassius doesn’t know what will hit him in the time to come.
’’Get everything ready, we are going back to base.’’
The headache comes suddenly with the voice again. I hold unto the taps in the shower, so I don’t fall. My eyes close on instinct, as I hear footsteps. It sounds so close. I know it is in my head. this is all in my head. Cassius is in my head, but it is real.
’’Get the troops ready. We are not waiting any longer.’’ His voice is firm and very cold.
Makes me hate him even more.
’’Yes sir,’’ the other voice speaks up.
’’We leave for the base first thing in the morning. Two days from now, I want all the wolves in this town dead.’’
For a second, with my eyes closed, I see his face. that evil expression of him. the one that is fuelled with all the anger. He is in a room, almost and underground dungeon. It is dark, there is no light in the room, except for a candle. I don’t even know where this is but it doesn’t matter. He is leaving here tomorrow.
The voices disappear from my head and I open my eyes again, breathing heavily. I know that Cassius plans to attack us in two days. I know he is going back to his base—wherever that is.
They said he was in hiding, which means he left his mansion. The place he kept me hostage. That can only mean, he is going back there. I want to go there. I want to kill him before he tries to attack us. this seems like the opportunity to do that.
This seems like the only option. I need to get to him before he comes to us. I walk out of the shower and grab a towel, completely drying myself up. I am hungry. I need to haunt right now. That is the only thing that will give me the immediate strength I need.
I walk out of the house, not even telling Lanis about it. he wouldn’t agree with me hunting at a time like this but I need to. I go around the back. A place only I know about. This is how I usually used to sneak out of the community. Most times to get the escape I need. I find my way out of the gates and transform fully. This time, my wolf screams out in excitement. I haven’t hunted in a while. It can sense it.
I will get the food that I need and then I will find Cassius. I am done waiting for him. I am tired fo all the back and forth.
I want his head.
Chapter 139: Rash decisions wont help anybody
Cassius.
This has gone on for too long.
I have this back and forth relationship with this pack. It has never been this hard. I have done this for twenty years. Slowly I am getting to them all but Beau’s pack is stubborn. There is something about him. maybe it is the fact that he has the vampires support. I know it wouldn’t be easy this time. I can feel it but I will never give up.
If I end up dying this time. I will take it all as a wasted effort. I will not give up. I will get the revenge that I need.
I will get my freedom either way.
******************
Beau.
Where are you?
Lanis sends me a mind link. I am still in my wolf form eating at the deer I caught hungrily. I have never been this hungry in my whole life.
Fucking hell.
If I answer him right now, he will be upset with me.
I am worried right now, please let me know you are okay.
He sounds scared.
Okay, maybe I have gone too far.
I am fine, baby.
I decide to come clean. He will be happier to know that I am fine that I will not get too much of a scolding.
Where the fuck are you?
So much for being happy. I don’t blame him; I would react the same way if I didn’t know where he was. This was selfish of me, but I was so fucking hungry.I take another bite of the bloody mess in front of me. slowly quenching my hunger.
Beau.
He calls me again.
I don’t want to tell him anything because I know he will come looking for me. The meat in front of me feels like the best I have ever had. I have a plan. A plan that will involve Lanis and Bells. I am going to find Cassius and I will kill him. this is the only way I can do this. there is no need waiting for him to come to the community. I don’t want any more people to die.
I need to end this.
I am coming back now.
I reply to him as I finish up the rest of the hunt. The run back to the gates doesn’t take any time. I change back to my human form and walk in through the way I left. I don’t want anyone asking questions. I don’t want people thinking they can also go for hunts. Everyone’s safety is the only thing that is important to me. I go back to the house—naked and a little cold but somehow I already feel refreshed.
Once I enter the room, and Lanis stands up from the bed with worry-filled eyes. I look at the table and there is a tray filled with eggs and sausages. Now, this makes me feel like shit.
’’Where the fuck where you?’’ he cries walking closer to me.
I manage a faint smile ’’I went hunting.’’
He opens his eyes wide from the shock of my statement ’’Why would you do something like that. we agreed that we will stay inside the community until we find Cassius.’’
Yeah, we agreed but I need all the strength I can get right now. There is a plan in my head. a plan that I will put into action. I needed the energy to put things in place.
’’Cassius is going back to his house.’’
He furrows his brows ’’What are you talking about?’’
I smile ’’The place you found me when he took me. he is going back there tonight. We need to get to him.’’
I am already excited. I don’t know what the plan is but this time I won’t go alone. It wouldn’t be like the last time. I will go with Jules and Blue and everyone else. Alanis and his family are on my side. I can also get the Elis too.
’’We need to get to him tomorrow.’’
There is no time to dally around. If this is going to work, we are going to have to be very fast about it.
’’You can’t be serious,’’ I see the sceptics in his eyes.
’’I saw him. he wants to come back. He wants to attack the pack again.’’
Lanis sighs loudly ’’That is a good thing, he will come, and we will be ready when he does. We can’t go storming into his house with no clue on what to do. that is not how this works.’’
He doesn’t see things the way I see them right now. I am tired of waiting for Cassius. I want this to end and the only way it can end. Waiting for him feels like oblivion. I cannot keep living like this.
’’I can’t wait anymore. I can’t do this. I am tired of waiting.’’
He reaches for me and pulls me even closer to me ’’Look, this is a good thing. You are hearing him. that means we can be one step ahead of him when he comes. We will keep all the kids safe. This is a fight for our lives. When he comes we will fight to win this fight.’’
He is trying to convince me but I don’t think so. I really feel like we should do this my way.
’’I need to find Jules, talk to him about this.’’
I don’t know what is going on in my head but I feel like this is the way to do this. I have to do something, I can’t keep waiting for every fucking thing.
’’You have to trust me. You are being rash right now. You need to calm down and think this through.’’
I pull away from him and hurriedly walk to my underwear drawer close to the bathroom. I pull out a pair of shorts and put them on again. I need to talk to someone that can relate to me about this. I can’t think about anything else. I need to do this, my heart is telling me that this is the way to do this. I don’t know if I can listen to Lanis right now.
This is the stubborn part of me and I wish he was on my side on this. I don’t want to have to do this without him.
I need him now more than ever.
’’Where are you going?’’ he asks as I head for the door.
’’I want to find Jules. I need to talk to him about this.’’
He sighs, already seeing that I have made up my mind. ’’I called Eligio, told him about the voices. He thinks he can form a stronger connection. That should be your priority right now.’’
He wants to form a stronger connection with Cassius. That could help, hell that would be part of the plan but I need to know that I am doing this. we only have a couple of hours or we will end up losing him.
’’Beau, that is the priority for now. Going to his house isn’t. that is his territory. We need him at ours.’’
’’I need to do this,’’ I am tired of spelling this out. I am so tired of trying to prove myself.
’’I know, we will do this together. I just need you to calm down for a second. I know it is overwhelming. The fact that he is in your head now, it almost feels like he is taunting you but you can not lose control right now.’’
Is that what he thinks is happening to me?
Does he think I am losing control because I don’t want to wait for Cassius because I want to go to him instead of it being the reverse?
I don’t feel like I am losing control. I feel like this is the most control I have had in a long time.
’’Okay, can he come now. Let him swap with Bell’s or Olin.’’
Tonight is Eligio’s turn to stand guard. I make sure one of the people I trust are on guard duty every night. I don’t know who is who in this place anymore. Eligio, Darrien and Bell’s are the only one I trust to keep on guard duty.
’’I will stand guard. Bell’s needs a break for tonight,’’
This is suspicious but I don’t say anything. I want him with me, he can’t leave me right now.
’’I want you here when Eligio comes. Bell’s can spare a couple of minutes.’’
I know I am being snarky right now and maybe Lanis is right. The whole hearing Cassius seems to be getting to me. I hate that man so much and now he is in my fucking head and I can’t get rid of him.
’’Okay, I will talk to her. I just need you to take a couple of deep breaths. Everything will be alright.’’ He tries to assure me but I don’t believe him. I don’t think I know anything anymore. Lanis is too calm and composed.
I wish I was like him.
Chapter 140: A good leader listens to others.
Beau.
’’This is quite normal,’’ Eligio mutters.
My mind is not really here. This is eating me up, I feel like we are wasting time. I should be on my way to Cassius. Not here trying to figure out how I Cncan see more of him.
’’You said you can make a stronger connection. How do we do that?’’ Lanis asks him curiously.
Lanis thinks this is the best way. We are on opposite sides 4right now. He wants us to wait for Cassius to come. I want to go to him. I wish we could be on the same sides but you can’t expect perfection when in a relationship. You will have times that you will disagree with your significant other. There will be fights, arguments, all that is normal. I just wish he could agree on this with me. I need him the most right now.
He smiles ’’When you were with Cassius, he took you into his head. showed you things that he wanted to. Somehow, you became attached to his subconscious. That is why you are hearing him right now. You are in his head again. That part that remained even though he pulled you out.’’
I knew all this. that was the only logical reason as to why I was seeing him. I have known this. he needs to tell me something I didn’t know. Something that can help us through all this.
’’So how do we do this?’’ I ask getting inpatient.
We are in the living room of the house, I am seated on the couch next to Lanis. Eligio is standing at a little distance from us. Eligio walks closer to us and stops in front of me ’’I have to get into your head. find that part where he lingers.’’
That sounds like the creepiest thing ever. A part of Cassius is lingering in my head. the man I hate the most. Okay, who am I kidding, Cassius is not the one I hate the most—Fallon is.
He is the only one that hurt me to the point where I feel it in my bones. He is the one I want to kill in cold blood. He is my biggest enemy.
’’Can I?’’ Eligio asks raising his hands up to my head.
I don’t know what he intends to do but he is Lanis’s brother. One of his most trusted people. so I trust him too.
’’sure.’’
He places both of his hands on the sides of my temple and I watch his eyes turn a bright red as he looks at me. slowly, he closes his eyes and now I am staring at him in this awkward silence.
’’I need you to think about Cassius.’’
All I have been doing this couple of days is think about the man. when I wake up, I think about him, when I go to bed, he is in my thoughts. he has completely taken over all my thoughts. This is all driving me crazy. Eligio doesn’t need to tell me to think about him, that is all I have been doing.
’’Close your eyes,’’ the minute I oblige all I see is darkness at first. The kind that leaves no room for any light.. the kind that makes you feel alone. That I show I feel when I think about Cassius. He is a monster, someone that shouldn’t be forgiven.
’’You’re not thinking hard enough.’’ Eligio reprimands me.
I don’t know what he wants me to do. when I think about the guy, I only think about the hatred I have for him. how much I want to kill him, make him suffer for all the suffering he has put me through.
’’What do you want me to do?’’ I ask him because I need a guide on how this works.
’’Think about all the pain he has caused you, how the sound of his voice makes you feel.’’
I inhale a deep breath because he has caused me a lot of pain. he wants to wipe out my whole family, my whole kind like we are some kind of unimaginable mistake.
The darkness that I see starts to fade, slowly I see the underground dungeon. the place I caught a glimpse of. I see the walls, how old looking and dirty they are. I feel an ache in my chest, one that is not coming from me. I have my own fair share of pain. I have lost my whole family, without Lanis, I would be alone but the pain I am feeling right now feels different.
It is not coming from me.
’’It is working,’’ Eliogio mutters excitedly. I can still feel his hands on both sides of my head. it is cold and very detached but whatever he is doing seems to be working.
’’Ready for take-off?’’ I hear Cassius again. The same firm and cold voice as usual. A man walks into the room. I have seen this man before. He was there when Cassius had me captured. This must be his right-hand man.
’’Yes sir,’’ he answers.
I cant see Cassius but I feel him, it is almost like I am seeing things through his eyes. In this dream state, this vision, I am him. so the pain I feel in my chest must be the pain he is feeling. Cassius is a miserable man. Hatred has clouded him completely. Made him into a monster. The only escape from this life that he can get it death; so, me killing him would be a favour. I will be helping him find that escape.
It is the only solution to helping him. There is no redeeming himself. He is too far gone to be saved.
’’Have you spoken to Bade and Brone. Let them know the plan.’’ He tells the man who just nods in admittance.
He has a plan. I know his plan, he is going to attack. I already know all this. .so why am I wasting time here?
’’They are gathering the troops already. I have let them know how serious this is.’’ The right-hand man informs him—in this case, me.
’’You need to let them know how serious this is. A lot of them will end up losing their lives, but rest assured, I will set their links free once this mission is complete.’’
He makes is sound like my pack is the last pack he has to go through. He is not even halfway done.
’’Are we really going to release their links or is this just like the last time?’’
’’You know this will give them the motivation to fight. I can’t have any weakness, this is the last shot we have at taking them all out.’’
Oh wow, so he intends to lie to them and have them work their butts out, thinking they would soon be free. This makes me hate him even more. I need to succeed this time. I can’t have him hurting all those innocent people. we have fucking kids in the pack; they haven’t even lived their lives and one motherfucker wants to come and wipe them all out.
It is unfair.
’’Yes boss,’’ he mutters obediently.
The man walks out of the room and I feel even angrier. Cassius—walks towards the window in the room. It is cage-like and very small but through the window, I see trees and the night sky.
’’I will do this for you, Gyles.’’ He breathes into the night sky. Gyles, his one true love. The boy that died for him. the reason why he is so mad. He is doing all this for someone that I don’t even think would want him to do this. .I remember the boy, he was selfless, he loved Cassius more than his own life and now Cassius or should I say—Roger, grew up to be the opposite of what Gyles would have wanted.
I open my eyes abruptly as Eligio lets go of me, my eyes find Lanis immediately. He had been watching us all through, I could feel him all through the whole ordeal.
’’Cassius is coming back,’’ El mutters.
I already knew this.
’’I know.’’
’’What are we doing about it. We have to be ready when he does.’’
Why does everyone want to wait? Why am I the only one that thinks going to him is the best bet?
’’I want to go to him, that seems like the best bet.’’
Eligio shakes his head ’’How many of us are you going to go with? We are not enough for this fight.’’
I don’t want to take a lot of people with me, I don’t want more people to die. I am tired of all the deaths.
’’This is not the smartest decision. We need more hands. We need as many people as we can get.’’
The pack is already depreciated. We have lost so many people in such a short time.
I don’t know how to make things better. The fact that two people think waiting is the best bet means my decision isn’t. as a leader, I have to listen. I have to think about things before jumping. I can’t think I am the wisest and only follow my ways. Lanis and Eligio are here to help, they have been helping all this while.
I have to listen to others.
