Ch. 281..285: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 281-285
Chapter 281: The association of witches.
Blue.
This is basically a cult.
A group of people coming together for a purpose and the purpose is to kill my mother. Major didn’t seem scarfed when he knew that I would see this, it is almost like he wanted me to see into his mind. He wanted me to see this.
"Gather around, so that the meeting can commence,’’ I hear the voice before I see the person. The second I see the person, my eyes open wide in shock. I knew Evanora couldn’t be trusted. It is not like I even trusted her in the first place. There was no doubt in my mind that she wasn’t going to be someone that would end up helping me. I just needed information and it seemed like she had the information I needed.
There are a group of people. I know them all. Major is part of this cult and six more people from the coven. These are the people responsible for everything. They are the ones that hurt Rex and my mother. All the damages that have happened in the span of a couple of days. They planned this together and carried it out with the help of dark magic.
"Are we staring without her?’’ Mage, one of the members of our coven asks, Mage is older than Evanora and Major. He is the same age as my mother. This seems like a group of young people. Weird to see him here. Mage has always been very quiet in the coven. The kind of person that never caused any trouble.
"She wouldn’t be able to make it tonight,’’ Major speaks up. There is someone else that is not here. It seems like that person is the mastermind of this group.
"Are we supposed to start without her?" Pogue asks.
These people are conspiring against the chief and they succeeded. They have her in bed, in a mess and I don’t know how to prove that this is them.
"She said we can,’’ Major adds.
I am in his mind but it feels like I am watching a movie in front of me. I open my eyes as the memory vanishes. There is sweat trickling down my forehead. I don’t know what I was expecting but I didn’t expect a fucking coup. A group of people out to get my mother. I walk out of the potion room and out of the house because I need to find Evanora and let her know that I know. I plan on getting whatever I can from her. I won’t just sit back and watch Rex suffer. This is the only way that I can do this.
I have never been to her house before but I know where it is. So many parties that I wasn’t invited to in high school. I would see the people outside her house when I go for my intentional run. I would be sad that I wasn’t invited—now, it all seems so inconsequential to me. it doesn’t even matter to me anymore.
I get to her front door and she opens the door before I even get a chance to knock, almost like she has been expecting me. There is a smile on her face. It sickens me, because of all the things I know now. The fact that they were conspiring against my mother just makes me angrier.
"Hi Blue,’’ she bats her lashes and opens the door wider "Come in, we have been expecting you.’’ she moves away from the door. She leads me into the living room and I remain quiet, unsure of what to say. The moment I enter the living room of the house, I see all the people from the memory. Major winks at me the moment our eyes meet. It makes my skin crawl.
"What is going on here?’’ I manage with a stutter.
"Have a seat first. We have a lot to discuss,’’ Eva mutters calmly. I don’t see how they can be calm about this situation.
"What is going on here? I need an answer.’’ I scream already tenses with the whole thing. I don’t have the time to waste on formal conversations with these people.
"Have.A.Seat." Mage stands up from the couch and glares at me. I have never really been one to cower but the stern expression on his face has me on a chair before I even know it. "Good, welcome Blue. I am sure you are wondering what is going on here.’’ He adds.
"You people are responsible for the attack,’’ I accuse them.
"No, we are not,’’ Major blurts out immediately.
"You knew it was going to happen, you bewitched my mate. Made him do it,’ I know this is childish. I should hear from them before pointing fingers at them but I just want to get to the bottom of things before they get to what they are now.
"We didn’t try to kill the chief, and we don’t even know anything about your mate." The tone in Eva’s voice is sincere. I almost want to believe her but I also know that I can’t just trust her because they tell me to.
"What is this cult you have going on? You expect me to just believe you?’’
Mage nods "This is not a cult. It is an association.’’
"Why do you have an association?’’ I ask because I genuinely want to know what they are conspiring against. I know it must have something to do with my mother. There is no way this is about her.
"You are right about one thing. We were glad about her attack,’’ Mage informs me. "You need to understand that this association was created to take all the power from her. Analise is not the leader that we need and we would have done anything to get her off her high horse.’’
I don’t even know what they are talking about.
"What high horse?’’ I ask confused as fuck.
Major smiles and then stands up from his seat, slowly walking over to me. He sits down on the empty chair next to me. He is trying to make me feel included but I feel far from that. I feel like I shouldn’t be here. I don’t even want to be part of this...association.
"Your mother hasn’t been a good leader for a while now." he breathes out like I will be able to relate to that.
I don’t know anything about her leadership skills because I haven’t involved myself in any of that. The fact that they are telling me this now, has me confused.
"We are living in tyranny and it has to end,’’ Mage adds.
Tyranny?
Isn’t that farfetched?
"All you are saying just tells me all I need to know. You wanted her gone and now she is on her death bed. Doesn’t that just make you people the suspect?’’
"We didn’t do this. We knew that it was happening but we didn’t do this,’’ Major tries to assure me but I don’t believe him.
"Then who did?’’ I manage.
They all look at me like I would have the answer to that question even though I am the one that asked. I don’t know what they are thinking but I don’t.
Chapter 282: Trapped in my own head
Rex.
"You should try and relax," Gyles manages like that is something I can do. How does he expect me to relax when my mind is a mess right now? I am scared that something will happen and I will end up hurting someone. I am losing my mind with all the worries and he is telling me to relax.
"I can’t,’’ I sit on the edge of the bed running my hands through my hair in frustration. He crawls on the bed until he is close to me. His eyes never leave mine as he studies my expression. I know he is trying to figure this out.
"I don’t know what you are going through right now but I know that everything will be okay," he leans forward and rests his hand on my face and I close my eyes because this is soothing to me. He pulls me up to the bed and I rest my head on his chest.
"I am sorry for stabbing you,’’ I manage. It makes no sense saying this so casually and I have been thinking about it since Blue told me. I hate myself for hurting him, especially since I was supposed to protect him. He is not supposed to be worried about me but with all that is happening now. I am a threat to both of them.
"Oh, that is long forgotten,’’ he winks at me and my heart melts in my chest "Besides I met someone while I was out,’’
I look up at him as he continues "A very beautiful woman. She helped me move on. Her name was Selene." He mutters in this dreamy tone. There is a smile on his face.
"Are you serious?" I ask because all I take from this conversation is the fact that he is talking about the goddess.
He nods "Yeah."
There are a lot of things that have happened in all my life that I wouldn’t have believed in until it happened and telling me that he met the goddess of the moon is one of those things. Selene doesn’t just come to peoples dreams. She is not that accessible.
"You don’t believe me?’’
I shake my head "I don’t know. It just seems a little bit unbelievable.’’ I tell him honestly. He pulls me into his arms and I rest on him again. "How was it?’’ I ask him.
He shrugs "Normal, I guess.’’
I close my eyes as he continues "She just let me know what was important.’’
I smile "And what is that?’’
"You and Blue. Nothing else matters but the two of you.’’
His words play at my heartstrings and I feel the butterflies as they dance around my stomach. Just hearing how he really feels about us is overwhelming. Gyles has come a long way from a couple of weeks ago. He has fully accepted this. In the minutes where I am in his arm, I forget about everything. I forget about all the problems that will arise.
All that matters is him as I close my eyes and drift off in his arms.
*********************************
I open my eyes and I am not in bed with Gyles again. I am in a dark room. There is only one candle lit in a corner. I don’t know what this is but it feels like the prison I have been in. I turn around and in that split second, a cage falls over me and I am really trapped now.
"Help,’’ I hold unto the bars of the cage. It feels like the room is getting smaller as my voice gets louder. It seems like I am being swallowed. I just want to wake up from the nightmare. I wake up and Gyles is over me on the bed, watching with worry-filled eyes.
"Hey," he mutters calmly. My breathing is heavy and fast. My eyes are weak and tired. I don’t know how long I was asleep but I don’t ever want to go back to that room again. "Hey, it’s just a bad dream,’’ he breathes into my ear as he rocks me back and forth. My eyes stay fixed on him because I don’t know what is real and what isn’t. As long as he is here with me—this is real. "It was just a nightmare,’’ he adds as he caresses my hair softly.
"It seemed so real,’’ I manage in between breaths. The fact that I remember the dream terrifies me. I have parts of my memory that are blank slates. Things that I am supposed to remember but I can’t and now I am having nightmares that feel more real than my reality.
"It’s not real. I have been holding you for the last hour." He informs me. This is just Gyles indirectly telling me that I have lost my mind.
"I am scared, Gyles. I am so scared,’’ I don’t even realize that I am crying until he reaches for me and wipes off the tears from my face.
"I know. You don’t have to be. I am right here with you.’’ he assures me with a faint smile on his face. I believe him one hundred percent but how long until he gives up on me too? How long will have until I completely lose my mind and succeed in hurting him too? I feel like I am still trapped in that cage even though I am in Blue’s room in Gyles’s arm. No matter how much I want to forget about it all. That feeling is still there.
It feels like I am a puppet, in the hands of someone very evil and sooner or later, I will be unable to stop the darkness from coming out.
"I want to try something,’’ Gyles says slowly pulling away from me.
I look at him "It is farfetched and it might now work but I want to try it. Can I?’’
I don’t know what he wants to do but I will take anything at this point. Anything that will get me out of this mess.
Anything that will make me, me again.
Chapter 283: The master of the puppet
Rex.
"Anything. I just want this to stop,’’ I tell him with too much eagerness crawling out of me. I know that there is a possibility that he won’t be able to help me but just hearing that there is something he can do, knowing that Blue was unable to get into my head just makes me hopeful.
"I am not saying I can make everything go away but I can trigger you to remember."
Okay, that is not what I wanted. Getting my memory back will help me see things the way there are. I will know who did this to me and maybe with that, the person can get me out of this spell.
"I will rake it. I will take anything,’’ I tell him.
He nods "You are going to be doing all the work. I will just get it out of you. Your missing memories are inside your head. They are just being blocked by some kind of spell. I want to try compulsion. Get you to fight the spell. Help you to remember."
I nod.
"Whatever it takes Gyles. I will do anything."
He seems hesitant "You have to understand that there might be things that you have blocked out on your own. Things that you don’t want to remember. Once I do this, it will all come back. Are you okay with that?’’
I take a deep breath. That is a lot. I don’t know what my mind could have blocked out. If I don’t remember anything. That means I don’t want to. What if it is something that I can’t handle? Something that will break me?
"We don’t have to do this,’’ he voices out as a disclaimer.
I shake my head immediately "I want to do this. I can’t continue like this, knowing that I could just wake up one day and hurt you or anybody else."
"Okay. If you are sure,’’ he adds. He pulls away from me and stays on his knees in front of me "This shouldn’t take anything. Look at me,’’ he tells me. I shift so that I am in front of him. My eyes stay on his. Suddenly, his pupils dilate and his eyes become black. I feel like I am in my trance as he breathes out "I want you to remember everything. I want you to unlock your memories right now.’’
At first, I think it is stupid and won’t work but in a second I feel a pull so hard and fast that my head starts to spin. It feels like a can of worms has been opened up inside my head. I feel an overwhelming surge that comes with a splitting head.
"Do not block it out. Keep your eyes on me,’’ he counterattacks. His voice is firm, almost in a commanding tone. I can’t stop looking at him. He is controlling me right now. I can’t seem to pull away from him as it all comes to me. The day at the motel. The woman. Her face is all I can see now. he is being pushy and it is working.
"Do you see it?’’ he asks.
I nod but my eyes stay frozen on him, as everything becomes clear. "Do you see the person responsible for this?’’ I nod again and a smile sprawls on his face as I try to control my breathing. It feels like I am running a race in a standstill position. One that I don’t want to get off on. The face I see is familiar but I don’t know who she is but it feels like I have seen her before.
"Who are you?’’ I shout to the person.
Her smile is one that I will always remember.
We don’t talk much as she makes some incantations. Words that have no meaning to me. It feels like, with every word she utters, electricity enters through my veins and travels all over my body. I feel it all as she continues and it doesn’t stop until I walk back to the motel room, with no memory of what happened.
Everything happens so fast, but my eyes remain on Gyles all through it. The door to Blue’s room opens and the woman from my memories walks in. her eyes roam around as I snap out of my trance. My hands are shaking, I want to scream it out, tell Gyles that she is the one but I can’t. It is almost like I am in a trance again. Almost like she is doing it all over again.
"Oh, I thought Blue was in,’’ she runs her hands through her hair. She is talking to Gyles but her eyes are on me. There is this known look on her face.
"He’s not in,’’ Gyles manages with a faint smile. I want to scream at him. Tell him not to trust her. She is the one that brainwashed me.
She is doing it again.
Gyles stands up from the bed and walks over to her. He is trying to be polite. He has been too polite right now. This is not the time to be polite. She is the enemy. She is the villain of this story.
"Hi, we haven’t officially met. I am Blue’s Aunt Levine,’’ she smiles warmly. Drifting her attention away from me. How hard is it for me to say my thoughts out loud? Gyles helped me remember but now I can’t say them out. It is almost like she is still in control of me and all my actions. I know now who she is but I can’t tell him. They shake hands and I watch them.
"Nice to meet you, even under these circumstances. It is a pity that he didn’t do a formal introduction." The fact that the person that did this to me is Blues aunt. His mother’s sister terrifies me even more. If she can do this to her sister. She wouldn’t mind hurting Blue or Gyles.
"Rex, you are awfully quiet,’’ they both look at me and my eyes never waver from her. I try to say the words but almost it is almost like she is pulling the strings.
Controlling me again.
"Nice to meet you, Levine,’’ I blurt out those words. Far from all the things I wanted to say. Far from the things I need to say.
Shit.

Blue.
"Who is in charge? I know there is someone else,’’ I manage to ask this question. There is someone that is part of this association.
They all look at each other. There is hesitation in their eyes. it seems like they don’t want to tell me who that person is.
"She would like to be kept anonymous for now,’’ Major informs me.
I stand up from the couch "That is bullshit. How would you all like for me to go to the elders with this information? Someone in this coven is practising dark magic. The kind of magic that is forbidden and I want to get to the bottom of this."
"No one here is performing dark magic,’’ Mage pipes in. I don’t care about their words. From all I can see here, I know for a fact that they are somehow involved in this.
"What plan did you guys have to get rid of my mother? If you are being honest about not being part of her attack, tell me what you were going to do."
They all look at each other again. I wait for them on my feet. I am trying to get a sense from them—anything that will give me some information
"The attack wasn’t on us. We were going to do things the honest way. We were never going to kill her,’’ Pogue answers for them.
"What is the honest thing you planned on doing?’’ I ask.
"We were going to speak to the elders. We were going to do things officially. We had a list of reasons why she wasn’t fit to lead anymore,’’ Evanora stands up from the chair she is on and walks out of the room. They all watch me and I wait until she comes back into the room with a book. She hands it over to me and she is actually being sincere. There is a list.
These people seemed like a threat before I walked into this house. Looking at them and the way they are behaving, I don’t think they are the ones responsible for what is happening to Rex. Someone is behind it and I am starting to think it might be whoever their leader is.
"This list doesn’t make any sense, you are telling me my mother is this mass murderer. That she has killed all these people?’’
They all nod at the same time. "She is manipulative and vindictive. She only cares about herself. Why do you think there have been so many attacks recently?’’ Mage mutters.
These attacks haven’t been recent. They are just more frequent. I don’t know what has been happening while I have been gone but my mother wouldn’t hurt anyone. Yeah, she is a little self-absorbed but she is not evil. "I don’t believe this,’’ I state.
Pogue sighs. "We can’t force you to believe us but we wanted you to see his Major’s memory. That is why we sent Eva to you. this wasn’t planned. The fact that there is someone out there wanting to get rid of your mother is just a coincidence." Mage tells me.
I look around this room. I might not fully believe them but I am a little bit certain that they are not lying "I need your help,’’ I manage because at the end of this all I need to find a way to unbind Rex from whatever spell he is entrapped in. I need to make sure that he doesn’t hurt anyone while he is still trapped.
"We are on your side,’’ Major smiles at me. His dimples come out, illuminating how handsome he is. I look away from him as I continue.
"My mate, he is in some kind of spell. I don’t know how to get him out of it. I don’t know how to reverse it."
Mage nods "You mentioned dark magic. The only way it can be reversed is by using a counterspell. You will have to go to the dark side to do that."
I have thought about it and I knew it would have to be something I would have to do but there are repercussions and I don’t know if I will be able to handle them. At the end of it all, it seems like a last resort. The only option that I have. I don’t know if it is something I will be able to come out of but as I said, I will rather lose myself than lose Rex. I can’t live a life knowing that I failed him. At the end of it all, this happened to him because of me.
"I will do whatever it takes. I need to know how to do this,’’ I breathe out. It will take a lot from me but I will do this. Even if I have to sacrifice everything. I will always protect him.
"I know someone that can help you,’’ Mage stands up and walks over to me. He has a smile on his face. His skin is a caramel chocolate colour, highlighting the gold in his eyes. Everybody in this coven is attractive. Mage is no exception.
"I have a friend. On the outskirts of town. I can take you to him—if you let me."
I don’t trust him. I don’t trust anyone in this coven but I have no choice. I could either stay and wait for more damage to occur or give this a chance and see what happens. He is watching me, waiting for me to give him the answer he already knows I will give him. There is no debating this. This is the last option I have.
"Okay. Can we do this now?’’ I ask already getting inpatient. I want to fix everything and take Rex back to his home. The one where he is safest. Just bringing him out of his orb has caused a lot of damage.
"Tonight at eight. Meet me at the gates,’’ he tells me.
I nod and close my eyes, with hopes that this doesn’t eventually ruin me completely.
Chapter 285: A different person
Gyles.
I think I messed things up.
Is it possible to make someone worse than they were before you offered to help? When I convinced Rex to let me do the compulsion, I did it to get him out of the funk he is in. if he knows who enchanted him—then we could get the person to undo it. for a second, it was working. I saw the look in his eyes, I felt the release I usually get when I compel someone. We were interrupted but that shouldn’t have changed anything.
"Hey,’’ I grab his chin and he looks at me. His eyes are red. It looks like he has been crying but no tears have dropped out of them. Right now Rex is messed up. The more I look at him, the more I feel him slip away from me. The man I know and have come to love is not in this body.
"It didn’t work,’’ he manages and stands up from the bed. I watch him as he walks away from me and to the window in the room. His back is facing me but I can’t look away from him. Blue said I should keep an eye out for him. In simple terms, he basically just wanted me to make sure that he didn’t leave the room. It has just been a couple of hours since he left and I have already messed things up.
I stand up from the bed and walk over to him. I stay behind him not wanting to creep up to him "It worked. You remembered,’’ I tell him because I was there. I knew the moment when he got his memories back. He is keeping it for me and I don’t know the reason why.
He turns back to me. There is a frown on his face. His eyes are still red and blotchy. Now he just looks angry. "Are you saying I am lying?’’ he asks coldly.
I shake my head "I just think you don’t want to tell me who it is." I manage because I don’t want to accuse him of anything. I don’t want to make it seem like I don’t trust him. I might not think he is being sincere right now but I know he must have a reason. Why would he just keep this from me, there must be something bothering him. Something that he doesn’t want to know.
"I don’t know anything Gyles. I am fucking tired of all this." He pushes me and walks over to the other side of the room. He is trying to give me space. Almost like he doesn’t want to be next to me. I am not giving him the space he needs until I get to the bottom of this.
I walk over to him and he runs his hands through his hair "Please just leave me alone Gyles. I am exhausted." He breathes out.
"I can’t leave you alone. There is something you are keeping from me. Something that I might need to know.’’ I tell him.
He frowns and then turns to me "I don’t fucking have to tell you anything. I don’t understand why you feel so entitled." He walks past me again but this time I grab him by his arm. Completely unexpected, he pushes me again and this time with so much force. I fly over to the other side of the room and my back hits the wall roughly. I see the shock in his eyes as I hear the crack of my bones. I know it will heal but he just hurt me.
Rex doesn’t come over to me. He doesn’t try to help me. I watch him as he walks out of the room. I was supposed to keep him in the room but I failed.
Just like I fail at everything.
I don’t know how long I sit on the floor. I don’t get up, I don’t think as my heart races in my chest. I hear him when he comes back into the room. He doesn’t budge or try to talk to me as he crawls into the bed. I don’t know how to handle this because a big part of me blames myself for everything.
I don’t know who that man is.
I am the one that brought him here. I am the one that forced him to come with me and now he is treating me like shit.
I know it is not his fault but at the end of it all, it is a reminder that I mess things up.
You promised to stop with all the self-blame.
My wolf reminds me.
I know that but I don’t have a choice right now. How do I not blame myself for this? Rex was fine in the community but I manipulated him into coming here and now he is going through shit. Things that I don’t know how to get him out of. He hurt me and didn’t even flinch. He left me on the floor to heal. He didn’t care. That is not the man I love.
He is not Rex now.
My wolf tells me what I already know. I get up from the floor just as Blue opens the room door. I know that Rex is pretending to be asleep. He isn’t really sleeping right now but I guess it is better to avoid us than actually talk about things. He doesn’t want to let me know what happened and I don’t think he will let Blue know.
I walk over to Blue and he watches me confused—probably wondering what happened. My arms are around his waist instantly as I take him for a hug. I guess this whole thing is taking a toll on me. I don’t know how to handle not being able to help him. He welcomes me into his arms by squeezing me tightly. It means a lot to get this acceptance from him. Even though I want both of them, I will take one of them for now. I want to stay strong and believe that things will come around.
