Ch. 341..345: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 341-345
Chapter 341: My home is where they are
Blue
The silence is peaceful. Being in their arms in the dead of the night and knowing that I will always have this. I will always have them to lean on is the best thing I could ever ask for.
"When are we leaving?’’ Gyles breathes out, suddenly breaking the silence. He is on the other end of the bed; Rex is in the middle. Somehow, it seems like Rex is the one that brought us together, without Rex, I don’t think there would have been an us.
I look over to him, still stuck to them because I don’t plan on breaking this circle. I want to be with them for the rest of the night. Tomorrow, I plan on telling the elders about everything that happened. I need them to know that Badger is the problem and even though Levine is dead, it is not over. they wanted to execute her. that was their plan all along but now their focus should be him.
"As soon as I clear things up here,’’ I assure him.
He sighs and then I lie back on the bed, closing my eyes for a second "I think we should leave while things are still good between us.’’
I am in agreement with that. I wish they would leave without me—at least until I clear things up here but If I suggest that to Gyles, he will be stubborn about it.
"Would you leave without me for now?’’ I ask him.
Rex is still quiet. he hasn’t said much but I know that he is in this conversation with us. he just doesn’t want to pick sides in this conversation. It almost seems like Gyles is always going to want to take control of every situation. I have accepted him for who he is and I love him with all my heart.
"No, you know that is not an option." He jumps up and jumps over to my side, climbing me in the process. I watch him as he straddles my waist. There is a smile on his face "You know we can’t leave you."
My heart thuds against my chest, just a touch from him can send me over the wall. I grab his waist and his smile widens "How long do you plan on clearing things up. I don’t like this place.’’ he grinds into me as he asks. I know he is trying to distract me. get me to agree with him and it is working because I can’t think straight with him on top of me like that. all I feel is him, it is almost like my brain is not even functioning right now.
I just want to go back to the community and forget about all this.
"Soon,’’ I close my eyes because the more I look at him, the harder I get.
"How long is soon,’’ he asks. I hear Rex’s chuckle. He is amused by the situation. Gyles is torturing me and he is laughing. I turn to him and he hides his face under the covers. This brings a smile out of me.
I don’t even mind that they are interrogating me, I know how much they want to leave this place. I feel the same way, so I completely understand them right now.
"In a couple of days,’’ I promise them.
Gyles raises a brow "You can’t go back on your word. Finish up here and let us go back home,’’ he adds.
"Is the community my home?’’ I ask him.
Beau said I was always welcome and I know he meant it but this is not a conversation we have ever had. Do they actually want me there with them? I know that Gyles is new in the community too. Does he think of the place as his home?
"Yes, it is,’’ Rex speaks up for the first time.
Gyles nods his head in agreement "It is the only place that actually feels like home,’’ he breathes out. Knowing him and how far he has come, I am so proud and excited for him. the community feels like a home to him, that just means that he is finally accepting the life that was chosen for him. Which means he has accepted us. Gyles was the toughest nut to crack, so you have to understand how excited this is for me.
"Then it is my home too,’’ I state. As long as I am with them, I have nothing to worry about. I will live in the dumps if I get to be in their arms every night. My happiness revolves around them and I will not let anything take that from me. I sit up on the bed with Gyles still straddling me and he chuckles as I hold him tight "Give me a couple of days and I will sort everything out, and then we will go back to your home,’’ I assure him.
The elders of the coven want me to take over as the chief but I don’t have any plans on taking the crown. I don’t want the title and I plan on letting them know. I haven’t taken the oath. I am not loyal to the coven. I still have a chance to leave them and this all behind and that is what I plan on telling them. I don’t have any blood relatives alive apart from Jules and I want to get to know the Lycan side of me. I have been so used to the Warlock side of me. I never wanted to be one. I detested it so much, but I felt like that was all I was. Now I know better, I know that there is more to me and I need to explore it all. I need to become who I am fully and not let anyone tell me what that is. the only way I can do that is by going back to the community. Exploring my relationship with my mates and completing the mating ceremony.
Rex sits up on the bed and presses his lips to my forehead "Our home,’’ he corrects me and for the first time, I feel like I actually have a home.
My home is where they are.
Chapter 342: Just two days
Blue
I wake up in the morning to a knock on my door. Slowly turning, I see that they are both still asleep. The smile that comes up to my face is instinctual. Gyles has Rex in an embrace, it is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I get up from the bed, so as not to wake them. I put on. A fresh pair of boxers and walk over to the door. The person on the other side of the door is new, someone I don’t know.
"The elders are ready to see you,’’ he manages in a cold voice. I don’t know who he is but it seems like he knows me. I take a deep breath and close the door. I know where I am supposed to meet them. they probably sent him to call me. the second I turn around, I see Gyles, awake and staring at me.
I place my index finger on my lips. I don’t want him to wake Rex up. I want Rex not to be involved in this. I want him to just relax until we can get out of here.
"Why are they asking to see you?’’ he ignores my request and I groan as Rex shuffles on the bed. he doesn’t wake up but it was almost close.
"I need to sort everything out here,’’ I tell him honestly.
He sighs and then stands up from the bed. he is still naked and I can’t help but stare at him. don’t blame me. he is beautiful and he is mine, I have every right to ogle him, even though the conversation we are having right now is supposed to be pretty serious. I already know what I am going to tell them. I want them to know what happened. They wanted to execute Levine. That was the plan all along and now, they don’t have to worry about that, all they have to do is focus on finding Badger—without me. I don’t plan on staying here. All last night, I couldn’t sleep. I thought about it. at first, I wanted to avenge their deaths. I felt like it was the right thing to do. It didn’t seem right leaving this place when he was at large but the night I spent with my mates showed me what is important and they are the only ones that matter. Their well-being is my priority and I will not risk their lives just to do what is right. Yeah, you can call me selfish but this is the best thing to do.
The one thing I need to do right by them.
"You said we were going to leave; I don’t want to be here anymore.’’
I grab his hands in mine, at least he is trying to be quiet for Rex. last night was eventful and I expected him to sleep through the day. I didn’t expect him to be grueling me so early in the morning. That is the thing about Gyles, I can never figure him out. I don’t know what is going on in his head half the time. he is his own person. One that I want to uncover. A puzzle that I know I will eventually solve.
"We should be out of here by the weekend. You gotta trust me, I don’t want to be here either,’’ I shrug because I want him to see that this is not a home to me. We had this discussion last night and he knows where I stand. I just need him to be patient with me.
"That guy is still out there. He could still get to us,’’ he cries. I see the fear in his eyes and I know exactly why he is afraid. He is not scared because of himself. this all has to do with Rex. he is the one that suffered through everything and I guess he is thinking the same things at me. we both don’t want him as collateral damage anymore. he is the one that has the most to lose, he is the one that was tied with Levine. He is the one that could potentially be used again.
"I won’t let that happen, I promise,’’ I assure him. I don’t know what could happen in the future. I mean, it is out of my hands but I will protect them with my whole life. My promise to him is not me telling him that I have control of the situation. My promise to him, is me telling him that I will fight for them. I will try my damnedest best to protect him. I will rather die than let anyone hurt the two of them.
"You are just saying that, you don’t know for sure. The only way we will be absolutely fine is if we leave this place.’’
He is right and I plan on sorting everything out today. I plan on coming back to this room and packing my shit. I plan on making sure that I never come back to this place. the ties I have are all gone and somehow, it seems like it is for the best.
"Give me two days max and we will be out of here,’’ I lean forward and he closes his eyes instantly. I smile because he wants to kiss me as much as I want to kiss him. the second my lips touch his, the fireworks erupt. The strength to beat everything that is happening surfaces and I know that talking to the elders will be a piece of cake.
I just need to tell them what they need to know and then let them know that I am not sticking around. I don’t care how they take it. I don’t care that they might want to put it all on me. all I care about is the boy asleep on the bed and the one in my arms. Gyles holds me tighter and my heart races in my chest.
I got this.
Chapter 343: The elders and the surprise
Blue
I walk down the halls and down the stairs. The room where mother probably had all her important meetings with the elders. This is not the life I want for myself. This will never be the life I want for myself. I have never seen myself as a leader. Someone that tells people what to do. I just want a quiet life. Maybe I am a lot more like my father. I mean, most times I wondered why he was so secluded. I wondered how he could have lived the life he had lived all those years. I always looked at him and prayed for a life in a different direction. I guess wanting a family was important to me.
I think it is important to him too. When he found me, I could tell that he didn’t want to let me go. he was upset that he missed all those years without me. He wanted to make up for it and I didn’t treat him the way he deserved. Even now. I don’t call him dad. I call him Jules. I was being rebellious. I mean, he wasn’t a father to me. I grew up without one, all thanks to my mother. She kept me away from him and even with her death, I still haven’t let go of that. I want to forgive her, but I cant. I don’t know how to.
I stop in front of the door and take a long deep breath. I hear their voices on the other end of the door.
Very loud and clear.
They don’t know that I am here yet. I want the upper hand right now and maybe this is eavesdropping but this is really the only way I will know what they are thinking. This is the only way I will be able to give them the answers that they want.
"Levine is dead. he is the only one in the family left,’’ Magnus speaks up. I hold unto the handle of the door. They are talking about me. I need to know what they are thinking.
"he cannot rule the coven. He is not cut out for it,’’ Helena interjects. She is the one that doesn’t like me. Not like I like anyone here. They are all selfish and they only care about their asses.
"He is the next in line. It has to be him,’’ Magnus responds. It almost seems like he has made up his mind. He wants me to take over when I don’t even want to. This should be up to me but in the end, they think it is their call to make decisions for other people.
"He is weak, he is a half breed. Do you think the chief of the coven should be a weakling who doesn’t even know how to conjure spells?’’
It is not like they are lying. I am weak, I am a half breed and I am not the best at magic. All those years of being in denial, all those years of not accepting who I am. It is all showing right now and they are all right.
"He will learn. He is still young. he should be given the opportunity."
I take this as my opportunity to knock on the door. Listening to them talk about me wasn’t really a good idea but at least now I know that they all don’t think it is a good idea to let me take over. that could be a good thing for me. I mean, I don’t even want what they are arguing about. If they would just talk to me, they will see that this is not really something I want. They will know my plans of leaving. At the end of it all, these people only care about themselves and their precious coven. It doesn’t matter that I just lose my mother and aunt. At the same time, in the span of one week. They don’t think that I will be affected by this. they asked me to execute Levine, even though it hits too close to home.
"Come in Blue’’ I hear Magnus’s voice through the door. Slowly turning the handle, I walk into the room. They are all seated in the same places they were the last time. all eyes on me again. I am not as nervous as I was the last time. last time, I had so much to lose. I didn’t know where Rex was, he was still tethered to Levine. I needed them to help me, now I don’t need anything from them.
"We meet you again, young one,’’ he breathes out. He is dressed in the same clothes as the last time. nothing has changed about him. Is this the life they live in this place? to me, it seems very pathetic. I could never survive in such a sedentary life.
"Yes,’’ I manage.
He smiles "So, we hear that Levine is dead?’’
I nod.
He smiles "From our information, she escaped and you found her dead in the woods.’’
He says it like he is so sure that is what happened. I furrow my brows in confusion because I don’t know where he got his information from. that is so far from what happened "Where did you get that from?’’ I ask him.
"Isn’t that what happened?’’
I shake my head. He hasn’t answered my question "We never had her in our custody. She used a cloaking spell. It was my mate all along but we just couldn’t see it."
"So are you saying your mate was the one that killed Analise?’’
That is what he took from all I said?
What the fuck?
"No, this has nothing to my mate. this is not about him. Levine wasn’t working alone. Badger was in on it all along.’’
This has been the plan all along. I need them to know he is a threat. He wants the power, just as much as my mother. She had this thirst for power and being the chief calmed her down but there was always someone that wanted it from her and it ended up being her confidant.
"He said you were going to say that," Magnus reveals and then he looks away from me and to the door "Come in Badger,’’ he says loudly and I hear the creak of the door and footsteps. I already know who it is, but the confusion and anger are not hidden in my expression.
He had the guts to come here.
"Hello Blue,’’ he smiles widely.
Fuck.
Chapter 344: Lies upon lies
Blue
What the fuck?
"He is the one behind it all, why the fuck is he here,’’ I scream so loud, losing all my self-control in that moment. I might have not have seen things like Gyles. He is the only one that saw it all happen. He and Rex are the only ones that I trust. I believe what they saw completely and I will not let him or all these old fucks convince me that he is not a bad person.
"See, he is irrational," Rand—one of the elders’ bellows. They are trying to justify why I shouldn’t become the chief. I don’t give a fuck about the chieftaincy. All I care about is leaving this place.
I raise my hands up in the air "I don’t give a fuck about this place. you guys are so blind and I guess you must have been all along. You don’t have to worry about me. I am leaving, I will never come back,’’ I tell them blatantly.
That is the truth. I don’t care that the person that killed my mother is standing here right and they all believe that he is a good guy. The man that has been practicing the magic of the dark.
The villain of this coven.
They will never see that. Just leave this place. That is the plan.
My wolf reminds me. the anger in me is making me want to stray from the plan. I am so upset that he could just waltz in here like he hasn’t done anything. The confidence he must have to do that is pissing me the fuck off.
"Let the boy speak,’’ Magnus interjects. He is the only one in this place that is even a little bit sensible. The rest of them are dumb and confused. They don’t even know how to guide. These people in front of me are supposed to be the wisest and calmest of all the witches and warlocks. They are supposed to see things that no one else can.
Yes, I understand that Badger is using black magic. It clouds everything. I know it also clouds judgment but at least, they should be able to sense things. They should be able to know.
"Why do you think Badger is involved?’’ he directs his question at me.
"Levine wasn’t working alone. She was working with him."
"Where is your proof?’’ he asks me.
I turn to Badger. I might not have any proof but that evil expression on his face is enough proof for me "He is the one that killed Levine."
"Sire, if I might add, I traced Levine because I knew Blue would be unable to after her escape. I was just trying to help him. I have always been on his mother’s side. She was my life and she was killed by Levine. I had to help. I followed her to the woods. I didn’t plan on killing her but she jumped on her own. she would rather die than be captured.’’
What the fuck?
"That is not what happened.’’
He is painting a perfect picture right now. one that makes him look like the hero. He is the hero in all this. in their eyes, he is perfect. He didn’t plan all this.
"You are lying. You were working with her. You had a part in everything. you are the reason why they are both dead.’’
I am losing sight of the plan. To them, I look like some gullible irrational kid. They will never believe me.
"I know who Levine was working with. She confessed to me before she jumped. She formed an association. I have a list of their names. They are all in this together." he reaches in for his pocket and brings out a piece of paper. Fucking hell, Major is in the association. His name will most definitely be on the list. They are not going to see reasoning; they are just going to listen to Badger and trust him.
What the fuck do I do now?
"Is this true?’’ Magnus mutters, his eyes finding me.
I shake my head immediately. I will not let him penalize the innocent. They don’t have anything to do with this. they trusted Levine and she trusted the wrong person. All they wanted was for the great of the coven. Somehow Badger is winning right now. I don’t know how to get them out of this.
"This is not true,’’ I manage. I don’t have a way to save them. hopefully, these people trust me a little bit.
"The kid doesn’t know anything that is going on. How are we supposed to believe him right now?’’ Helene barks. Her tone is very angry. I guess I am the one that is making her upset. I can tell that she hates me. she will never be on my side.
"Blue just got here, he doesn’t know anything that is going on in the coven. The only reason why he is even still here is because his boyfriend was involved in all this. He said it himself, he is going to leave. he doesn’t care about the coven.’’
This is the first thing he has said all day that is true. I do not give a shit about this place but I care about Major. He has been a big help since I came here. I need to make sure nothing happens.
"You will be punishing the wrong people. Major doesn’t have anything to do with this. he is a good guy.’’ I breathe out.
Magnus raises a brow "I didn’t mention any names. So, you knew about the association?’’ he asks me. to him, he has just caught me in a big lie.
"They are not the ones responsible for this. They have nothing to do with any of this.’’ I don’t know how else I can convince them.
"The boy is lying. We need to nip this in the bud. We can’t have people rebelling in the coven. Badger, bring them all in, and with an investigation, we will get to the bottom of it all. As for you Blue, if you actually think you are better off without this coven, then you are free to leave."
Badger nods and then turns to me. it seems like I am the only one that sees his smile. The cruel expression on his face before he walks away from me and to the door.
What do I do?
Chapter 345: I need to know
Blue
I have been standing outside my room for about five minutes. I don’t know what to do? I grab my phone from my pocket and call Major immediately, I should at least warn him. Let him know what is about to happen. Maybe he can escape before they get to him. He answers my call immediately "Hey,’’ he breathes into the phone.
My heart breaks because I blame myself for this. The elders in the coven are ruthless. They were quick to want to execute Levine and it seems like they will want to do the same thing to them too.
"They are coming for you, Badger is back and somehow, he convinced them all that you all are responsible for everything. You and the rest of the members of the association."
All I hear on the other end of the line is silence and his breathing. I don’t know how he will react to this but I want to help him. Especially after everything that he has done for me.
"Are you there?’’ I breathe into the phone. My heart is racing at this situation. I just hope I am not too late and I can get him out of this mess. If there is one good thing I can do. Then I want it to be helping him from this mess.
"There’s someone at my door,’’ he finally responds to me and I close my eyes, for the fear is becoming a reality.
"Don’t answer it,’’ I tell him immediately.
There is no doubt in my mind that it is Badger. He will be quick about it because he knows that I will definitely try to warn them out of this. "They are inside my house. I can hear them,’’ I hear his footsteps through the phone. Suddenly my senses are heightened. It feels like everything is happening so fast.
"Is there another way out of the house?’’
"No, the back door, but I have to go down the stairs. They are shuffling through my things. Don’t worry about me, I will find a way.’’ He states before ending the call. I drop the phone unsure of how I feel about everything. I want to be a coward. I want to walk into my room and leave with my mates, I don’t want to be involved in this.
My room door opens and Rex peeks out, I know he can sense me. That connection is still there. He smiles when he notices me and my heart melts completely. He walks out of the room and I watch him walk over to me. He is dressed in my shirt, it is way too big for him and somehow perfect at the same time. This is like a stamp, one that means I am basically claiming him. I don’t mind if he wears my clothes for the rest of his life.
"Hey,’’ he smiles, burying his head into my chest. I take him in my arms because even if I might be conflicted right now, I have to be strong for them. "How was the meeting?’’
I close my eyes because the meeting didn’t go as I wanted it to. The plan seems sidetracked now because how can I leave now, knowing that Badger is still out there, acting like he is such a good guy.
"It didn’t go as planned,’’ I tell him honestly. He is not the one I made all those promises to. Gyles is the one that I am afraid of right now. He doesn’t even want to be here anymore. I told him that I had everything sorted out and I thought that I did. Now I don’t know what to do.
Go back to the community. This is not your concern.
My wolf scolds me. He is right. This doesn’t have anything to do with me. I don’t have to prove anything to anyone.
There is no point.
"What happened?’’ he asks, pulling away from me slightly and looking up into my eyes. My heart throbs in my chest.
"Badger has everyone fooled and I don’t know how to prove that he is not the good person they all think he is. They see me and I am the weak son of the late chief. I am someone that has never really been involved in anything that has to do with the coven, so my opinions don’t matter."
"Do you think you are weak?’’
I shake my head. These people don’t want my help. They don’t think I am good enough, so nothing I do will ever be good enough.
"Do you care what they all think?’’
I shake my head again. I don’t know how to answer him right now. If there is anyone that believes in me—it is Rex. From the first day he met me, he has always seen me as this brave tough guy. I don’t know if I fit that slot anymore.
"I have something to show you,’’ he manages to grab my hand in his. "You have to look at this with an open mind. There are things that I know now that will definitely hurt to see.’’
His expression is unreadable.
"Come on,’’ he drags me into the room. Once we enter my room, I hear the shower running in the bathroom. "Gyles is in there,’’ he points to the bathroom door as he leads me to the bed.
"Levine might be disconnected from me but she left a piece of her memory inside me."
My heart beats even faster. I don’t know how I feel about that. I don’t know if I want to see the parts of her memory that she has kept hidden for so long. Rex seems to think that I need to see this. I am not so sure.
"She made a lot of mistakes in her life but she is not a bad person. She just trusted the wrong people.’’ He shrugs as he divulges that information to me.
I sit down on the edge of the bed and he stands in front of me "You don’t have to know but I think you need to know. Can I show you?’’ he grabs both of my hands in his. I nod my head immediately because he is right.
I need to know.
