Chapter 521: Content

Alanis

"I lost control earlier,’’ I tell him in a soft whisper.

We are still in bed. I don’t want to get up, I don’t want this night to ever end. His arms are wrapped tightly around me. His

breath is warm against my neck.

I feel safe and peaceful.

"What happened, not that I am complaining. I mean, that was insane.’’ he chuckles in my arms.

I smile because I am so fucking grateful.

"I just wanted to love you. I wanted to show you how much I love you.’’ I don’t know how to put it in words. It was so incredibly intense. It was so raw. I did not expect it to happen. I just knew that I wanted to be close to him. I felt all that and more and I know he felt the same way too.

"Did anything happen with Gyles?’’ he asks me.

I shake my head "Just a couples dispute. Nothing serious but it made me think a lot." I confess.

He nods.

"About?’’

"About us. About how I got lucky with you." I tell him all the things that have been on my mind.

"Oh, you’ve been thinking about us?’’ he asks me.

"Yes. I mean, how could I not?’’

"You know how important you are to me and how much I love you, don’t you?’’

I nod. I take a deep breath, enjoying this point in my life. I am happy, he is happy. Everything is going great.

"Would this be the wrong time to bring this up,’’ Beau asks me.

I shake my head "I am going to do it. We have to kill Fallon.’’ he breathes out into the air.

I feel chills from his words because I know how hard this was for him. This decision is not for the faint heart.

Agreeing to this makes me love him even more.

"Are you sure about this, you know you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to,’’ I tell him because no matter what decision he makes, I will support him? If he decides to keep him, prisoner, I will be fine with it.

I might not agree with his decision but I will support him.

"I can’t have him around--alive. I have my babies to worry about. Anyone that could be a threat to their lives will have to go. He killed my father, he is not a good person and he has no remorse, so there is no point sparing him when I don’t even trust him." I kiss his cheek.

"You are a good man, Beau, I am so proud of you.’’ I kiss him on the lips this time. His hands engulf me tightly. I love being held by him.

"Thank you,’’ he whispers. ’

I close my eyes because this night has been perfect.

Everything I wanted and more.

***************************

I hear the cries through the baby monitor. Beau is snoring lightly next to me. After our very amazing night, we had a shower and called it a night. I can say for a fact that I wore him out completely and his decision to end Fallon’s life must also be taking a toll on him.

He shuffles on the bed but I am quick to mute the monitor. I stand up from the bed and grab the closest clothing I can find, which is one of his boxers on the chair. I put it on and walk out of the room. I trot over to the baby’s room and only Colm is awake, which makes me happy.

I tiptoe over to him, he is lying on his back, his tiny legs are kicking the blanket off him. I smile because no matter how stubborn and demanding he is, I love him with my whole being.

I hold his warm body close to me and snuggle up against him. I stroke his hair softly as I try to get him to go back to sleep. "Hey, are you going to wake up my other baby?’’ he giggles.

I smile at his reaction because I know he doesn’t understand a word I am saying. "Let get you a bottle,’’ I tell him as I lead him out of the room and to the kitchen. I heat up some formula for him and we go back to the room.

He snuggles up to me and I hold him close to me again as I feed him the bottle. He is quiet, as he always is in my arms. If Colm was given the chance, he would want to be in bed with me and Beau.

He is the clingy one among the two of them.

The one that likes attention. The one that I would say is a daddy’s boy. I love that he is this way. I love that he stops crying when I hold him. Almost like he just knows that he is safe in my arms, that he has nothing to worry about. Just the same way I feel with Beau.

I know I am safe.

I have nothing to worry about.

Once I am done feeding him, he goes back to sleep and a satisfied smile crawls on my face as I put him back in bed and go back to the room.

Beau opens his eyes once I lie down on the bed "Hey, what’s up,’’ he manages in a dazed confusion.

I pull him into my arms and he rests his head on me "Colm but he is back asleep,’’ I tell him.

He breathes into me and I close my eyes as he nods softly. "You smell like Colm,’’ he mutters quietly.

I smile. I smell like baby food but I guess that is how he smells.

"I like the way you smell,’’ he adds. He is in between sleep and being awake but I like the words he is saying. I like that he is present with me.

Present in us.

I kiss his forehead.

"Goodnight baby,’’ he whispers to me.

I close my eyes.

"Goodnight."

Chapter 522: Too far gone

Beau

This decision was not easy but now I know that it is something I have to do. I know this is something that Lanis wants me to do. He doesn’t want to take the chance of Fallon coming back and hurting us.

This is the best thing to do. I know it but at the same time, there is a pain in my chest. One that I have been feeling since last night.

I want to do this but at the same time, I am conflicted.

I go to the dungeons. The place where he is being kept. I see him through the cage. Having a prison in the community wasn’t something that always happened. This is new and I guess it comes with my rein. I don’t want to just condemn people, I want them to atone for their sins and maybe that is what I wanted to do with Fallon.

I keep wishing he would have remorse, regret the things he did. From the way he is, I don’t think that will ever happen.

Regret is not something that he will ever associate with.

I see that now and I have to think about my family.

He is not family anymore. Even when my father was still alive, he never acted like he was. I could see the hate in his eyes whenever he would look at me. He knew it, he hated that I was the next Alpha and he wanted to make that clear. He killed my father, thinking that will give him a chance at the throne but it didn’t.

I walk closer to him and he looks up. That blank expression is still on his face. He has had this same expression on his face since we found him.

I haven’t heard a single word from him, which is unlike Fallon.

He always had something to say, even when it was not needed. Right now, what I want is an apology. I want him to say that he is sorry for murdering my father--the one person that trusted him in cold blood. I wish he would just open his mouth and have all the regrets I have been wishing on him. I won’t be able to get what I want. To see him regret it.

I look at him. There is hate in his eyes, something that has always been there. He might be silent now, it might look like he has surrendered but I still see that same hate in his eyes.

That is why I know that I have to do this. I know that he has to stop existing on this earth for me to have peace.

"Uncle Fallon,’’ I call his name. It has been a while since I actually called him uncle. He will always be my fathers’ brother. He will always have the same eyes as my father. When I remember his face, I will always see the resemblance he has with my father.

He is family, even though he chose to tether that tie.

"Can I talk to you for a minute?" I ask him.

His eyes dart away from me, as I go around till I am in front of him. He keeps his eyes away from me as I crouch to his level.

"I have made a decision, a decision that I think is best for all of us. Including you.’’ I tell him. Maybe this is not a good idea. I mean, does he actually have to know that I plan to end his life?

I take a deep breath as his eyes shift back to me again. The same fucking blank stare. I wish he would just speak. Even if it is to just tell me how much he hates me. I will take anything over this silence.

"I am sorry for this, I am sorry that it has come to this but this is the best thing,’’ I add. At this point, I feel like I am just talking to myself. I can feel the anger in his eyes, the one that has always been there. He wants to kill me.

I see now how my father died. The hatred he has for us.

I stand up from my knees and his eyes follow me "I am sorry about everything. I wish you would feel the same. I wish you could just see that it didn’t have to be this way.’’

He still has that stare. I really thought that he was going to act like he is sorry. No, he is not.

I will not let him kill me. That is what is going to happen if I spare him. If I think that he can change. He will kill me the same way he killed my father, he will kill Alanis and he will kill my babies. I am not giving him any more time to think about this. I walk to the door, just as he stands up from the floor and runs over to the end of the cage.

I watch him because I know he can’t get out.

He is too weak. Even though he can still walk, he has trouble with it. It will only get worse. I see how thin his legs are and how light he is. We found him almost catatonic in the motel room.

He is better than when we found him but I made sure to keep his strength and healing at bay.

I will not give him the chance to be strong enough to fight me.

I walk back to the room as his eyes brighten. The glow of transformation is clear in a hazel brown form.

I smile because I see the fight in his eyes.

He wishes he could hurt me right now.

He wishes he had the strength but he doesn’t.

"You will never change. No matter what I pray for. You will always have that hate in your heart.’’

I let go of the cage as he growls loudly. That is the only sound that comes out of his mouth. Right now, to me, he looks like an animal in a cage. There is no human left inside of him.

He is too far gone.

Chapter 523: The beginning of the end

Alanis

I see how hard this is for Beau.

I wish I could do or say something to make this better for him but I also know that this is something he has to come to terms with on his own.

Fallon will forever be his family, no matter what he has done. I understand that but this decision that he has made is needed.

It is the only way that we will have peace.

Everything happens so fast.

After his visit to Fallon, he came back to the room bawling his eyes out. I don’t know what happened down there but I know that it wasn’t easy for him. A couple of hours after his breakdown, he called a meeting.

All the Alphas are in the room. This is one thing I have always hated about the pack. They are having a meeting about something very important and they are choosing to segregate the betas and omega. It makes no sense to me, they should all be included in this discussion.

I don’t want to go over Beau right now because this is how it has always been. He grew up with things like this and this is not the time to implement this change because this is already hard for him.

Everyone should be here.

They should all know.

"About damn time,’’ Olin speaks up after Beau. There is a smile on his face, the excitement evident. They all seem happy about this decision and I get that completely. I am on board with this even though I don’t actually believe in ending someone’s life. It is not something I believe in but this time, I feel it is necessary.

"When is this happening, I think we shouldn’t sleep on it? He has been in the community for too long,’’ One of the other members in the pack speaks up.

They are all eager to do this.

"I don’t want this to be painful, I want him to die peacefully,’’ Beau says and I feel the dread etched in his voice.

Beau has no hate in his heart. He is the most selfless person I have ever met. This man killed his father, in cold blood. He is supposed to be angry, he is supposed to want to give him the same fate. I know that feeling of vengeance. The old Beau would have been that way but something has changed in him.

He is different.

The anger that he once couldn’t control is calm and controlled.

I like that for him. If that isn’t growth, then I don’t know what is. I can see the sadness in him but also I can see the happiness that he is finally at peace with himself. He has accepted himself and in doing so, he has achieved the kind of love that we have always wanted for him.

I am good with this.

"He needs to suffer. This is his punishment." Fig, a member interrupts him. I watch Beau as he takes a deep breath. Right now, he doesn’t need anyone that is going to oppose him. He has made his decision and I know that he is going to stick to it.

"I am doing this my way, my decision is final," he tells him sternly and I can’t help but smile at how amazing he is right now.

"Alby, I need you to help me with something, anything that can make this less painful,’’ he adds, his direction now on Alby.

"Okay,’’ he says calmly. This is something he would be able to do with ease. I am on the same page with Beau. I don’t think he should do this in a gruesome way. Fallon deserves everything and more but at the same time, for Beau’s conscience. This needs to be as painless as possible. Alby stands up from the chair and I watch him as he walks over to my Link.

"When do you want to do this son?’’ he asks him.

Beau takes a deep breath and then his eyes dart to me. I see that look in his eyes, the one where he is crying for me. I wish I could hold him right now but I know that he has to be strong.

He is the Alpha, he needs to do this on his own.

"Tonight, is that possible?’’ he asks him as he slowly looks away from me. Alby nods his head immediately and smiles.

"This is the best decision, we have to let everyone know that if anyone tries to hurt the Alpha, they will get punished."

As the words leave Alby’s lips, I can feel the power in the room. The room is already on his side and they are all eager to do this.

"We are going to get everything ready, the pack need to know what is going on. Inform everyone. There is no pushing this decision.’’

Alby is the first person to leave the room and the rest of the people follow him. I watch as the crowd disperses and the noisy room becomes quiet. I am left with Beau and I watch him as he settles on the couch with a heavy sigh. I walk over to him and he looks up instantly.

He stretches his hands out for me and I grab his hands, gently pulling them towards me.

"Hey," he says to me softly. He leans his head against me and I feel the sadness seep through me.

"You did good,’’ I tell him as he pulls me into his laps. I wrap my arms around his neck and he rests his head on my chest.

"Why does it feel so wrong?’’ he asks me.

I don’t have the answer to his question because this is just him feeling the guilt of making the decision. He will come to terms with his decision and even though he hasn’t already, this is a good first step.

"You don’t have to think about anything right now. Let’s just get through tonight...together.’

He nods and then leans forward and presses his lips to mine gently. The kiss is innocent, nothing but a search for reassurance. I feel the pain within him. I hold him for a hug and he tightly holds me back.

Tonight is the beginning of the end.

Chapter 524: Moving on

Beau

Alby comes up with a concoction. Something he made with leaves and other remedies. I have only ever known Alby to make things that heal, now he is helping me with a kill remedy

I hate this so much and I am trying to come to terms with it all. It is hard for me. I have Alanis by my side and he has been such a good companion. I wouldn’t trade him for anyone else. The fact that I don’t have to go through this on my own just makes it easier.

He hasn’t pushed me too much. He has been so supportive. There is no pressure when it comes to him and I guess that is the one thing that has made me accept it all.

The Alphas in the pack all dived in, immediately I made the announcement. This is what they wanted. I remember when Fallon was in the community. somehow, they were all on his side.

It didn’t take them too long to switch on him. Sometimes it makes me wonder how long they would be on my side. I have tried to be a good Leader. I am doing my best but at the same time, I could make mistakes.

I don’t want to end up like my father. He trusted the wrong person and it ended his life. The only person I trust in the community is Alanis. He is the only one that I will give my all. The only one that I would ever let see me vulnerable.

That is why I have to keep a brave face in front of everyone here.

We are outside.

There is a crowd of people.

Olin suggested that we do this public. So that everyone can see the consequences of treachery. I don’t know if this is what I want but at the same time, showing people that they would be reprimanded for their actions might be a good thing. Even though this just makes me seem like a tyrant.

Executing him in public.

I don’t know how I feel about this.

I watch two Betas drag him to the middle of the field and in front of me. This is barbaric and suddenly I don’t know why I agreed to this public execution. I should have just done this indoors.

Fallon is dressed in a pair of shorts, and nothing else. Fallon was always a big guy, over six feet, with muscles that made him look more intimidating than he really was. Right now, he has lost so much weight, all the muscles that once defined his body have disappeared.

He is still tall but looks nothing like he used to. His face is thin and haggard. His eyes are hollow.

It looks like he is already gone.

I see a rock flying and it hits him in the head. I turn to the crowd but I can’t pinpoint who it is. Blood starts to stream from the hit and I shake my head, slowly standing up from the chair.

"Who threw that,’’ I ask sternly.

No one answered but I hear their murmurs.

"I will not tolerate the disrespect, this is not an execution,’’ I shout to the crowd. I have accepted my decision but I don’t want this done this way.

I don’t want him to die in front of everyone.

I don’t want to start something so barbaric.

"We are not doing this here anymore. This will not become normal among us. I will not let us treat people this way." I turn to Olin "Take him back inside, we will do this inside the prison."

I walk away from the crowd and I feel Lanis’s footsteps follow me. I walk into the house and stop in front of the door. "What do you want to do?" he asks.

I sigh deeply. I am so conflicted because I don’t want to look weak in front of the pack. Maybe my reaction made me look weak.

I don’t even know.

I just reacted first before I thought about it.

"You are not wrong Beau. You don’t have to make it public. This is not something that people should see. I think you made the right call. It would be better to just end it all in private.’’

I look up at him and there is a serious expression on his face. He takes a step forward and grabs my hand in his, gently squeezing all the pressure out of it "Don’t break down right now. Show them that you are the Alpha, do this the right way. Don’t let words convince you otherwise." He gives me a reassuring smile and opens the door with my hand still in his. He didn’t have to ask me twice.

We go back outside and there are still a few people loitering around but not as much as they were seconds ago.

Lanis leads me to the prison and we go all the way to the basement, where Fallon is. I see Alby, Olin, and some of the other Alphas. Somehow, they all still want to see this.

Fallon looks up at me and his eyes are hollow and empty. Alby is the closest to him. He is not tied up.

There is nothing stopping him from fighting back but he is already too weak. I think he has no fight left in him.

He is almost down to his last breath. This is the man that killed my father. Looking at him now, he doesn’t even look worthy. He is not an opponent that I want to think about. After tonight, I need to let this go. Keep this in my past, the place it belongs, and never think about it again.

I don’t ever want to remember Fallon and the things that he did.

"Are we ready for this?’’ Alby asks me.

I nod immediately because the sooner we get this over with, the better.

Moving on is all I want to do.

All I need to do.

Chapter 525: Make things right

Blue

Okay Blue, you need to think about what you are doing properly. You will lose him if you continue like this.

You will lose the both of them.

My wolf shouts to me loudly.

It is easy to listen to him right now but there is a part of me that makes me feel like all I will get from this is regret. So yeah, I am acting controlling. I have thought about it all night.

Thought about the conversations we have had and I have thought about how it could have done differently.

He came to me, he asked me, he expected my support. I didn’t give him the support that he needed. He wasn’t really asking me for my permission. He is not a child that I will tell what to do. He is my partner and I know that I didn’t treat him like one. I should have been there for him. I should have been more understanding.

I know all these things and it is easy to have all these thoughts in my head but implementing them when there is this fear etched to my mind.

The fear of going back.

Then tell him the truth. Tell him you are afraid of going back to the coven. Do not push him away.

Tell him the truth.

The two times we tried to have conversations, we just ending up disagreeing. Gyles is not as easy to talk to as Rex. I don’t know the right things to say to him. I don’t know what to say that would make him happy.

"I don’t like this Blue. Why the hell are we doing this?’’ Rex walks into the guest room. Another stubborn act. I should have never slept away from them last night. I just needed the space to think about what I would do next but being away from them didn’t make things better.

I think it just made things worse.

This morning, Gyles didn’t even look at me.

He is so upset with me and I don’t blame him. All the regrets have kicked in and I don’t know how to come out of it. I don’t know how to make things better. I am still waiting on Jules to see what he has.

I need a solution before I try to make things right.

"I know, you don’t have to tell me anything. I know baby.’’ I manage. He looks angry right now and I don’t blame him. I am putting him in the middle of this. Rex doesn’t want to have to choose and I don’t want him to.

I want this fight to end.

It has been a day and I feel like my heart is missing a very vital piece.

"Don’t just say you know. You need to fucking apologize to him. You need to get off this bed and make things right. I hate this so much.’’

He is yelling.

Rex never yells.

Okay, I get it. He is not happy.

He is not happy about this.

"I am working on it. We just keep getting off the right page. Like I want him to see things from my perspective but he is just being stubborn--" he glares at me "Don’t call him stubborn. You can’t keep treating him like he only brings problems to the table. Gyles is more than that and you are making him feel like shit right now,’’ he reaches for his glasses and pulls it up his nose.

I can’t even focus on how cute he looks right now. He is right, I need to make things right. I need to stop treating Gules the way I have been treating him.

Rex takes a step closer to me "Look, he is miserable right now. He wants to apologize to you and I don’t think he should. He is ready to just let go of it all like he has done something wrong. Don’t make him become that person."

"I am not making him do anything.’’

"You are making him feel the way he is feeling right now. Gyles needs you to be there for him and you are doing nothing for him. He doesn’t know what to do." He shakes his head. "You make him feel like he is always wrong.’’

I hear his words. I want to make things right, but I don’t know how to fix this. Rex is here, I hear his words but I don’t know if apologizing will make this right.

"I need to make things right,’’ I whisper. I don’t know if I will be able to make things right. I want to stop this fight.

"Talk to him and this time, please don’t fight. We have to go back to eh coven. We have to make your mother pay for her sins, Don’t ask Gyles to let it slide."

My phone vibrates on the bed and I turn to it, in the middle of the conversation. My father’s name fills up the screen.

"It’s Jules,’’ I tell Rex.

He nods.

"You need to get out of this room and come talk to Gyles. I don’t want to have to come back into this room." he glares at me and I see the seriousness in his eyes. Rex is right and I needed this wake-up call.

but for now, I need to answer this call. "Alright, I will talk to him’’ I whisper.

"Okay, hurry out of here."

Rex walks out of the room just as I press the phone to my ear. I take a deep breath because this seems like the moment of truth. I told Jules to help me find something, anything that could help us. I silently wished that all this was just the work of the book but now, it seems like everything he said might have been through.

I would take anything but my mother being alive.

I have never wanted someone dead so badly.

"Hello.’’

I hear his breathing through the phone "I found something; I am on my way to the community.’’
