Ch. 526..530: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 526-530

Chapter 526: Resolution

Gyles

He didn’t spend in our room.

He went to the guest rooms and I am so upset beyond comprehension. Blue keeps saying that I am the stubborn one, that I act like a child most times when in reality, he is the one acting like a child.

I tried to have a conversation with him about how I was feeling and he pushed me away completely.

He didn’t even want to listen and now he is the one throwing a tantrum.

Did we fight so badly that he can’t even be in the same space as me? Is that how bad it was?

I keep playing it over and over in my head. Thinking about all the things I said. Trying to see what I said that was so bad.

"He is just being a jerk,’’ Rex tells me and I see it in his eyes. He is being put in the middle and he doesn’t want to have to go through this.

I am not asking him to choose between the two of us. I just want this to end, I want us to stop fighting.

"He is not going to let this go,’’ I tell him because he doesn’t see that he is wrong. He thinks he is doing this because he cares about me. He is acting as the leader but we are both Alphas in this relationship. I should have a say in things we do.

He can’t just shut me down because he is scared. I should be able to make decisions that concern me.

This is my life too.

"I talked to him, just give him time. He will come around.’’

Rex is trying to be the peacemaker but I don’t even want him to have to do this. I would just go apologize if it means we can stop all this separation, all this fighting, all this fucking space.

"How long is it going to take? I miss him,’’ I whine because his absence is felt. I know what it is like to miss someone, I know what it is like to lose someone and Blue is connected to me.

He is a big part of my life and he is avoiding me.

It is taking a toll on me.

"How about now?" The door opens and he lingers there, his eyes on me. I stand up from the bed because he is here and all I want to do is run into his arms and beg him to forgive me.

He takes a step towards me and there is this look of regret plastered on his face. He looks more apologetic than I thought he would and that just makes me feel ten times better.

I want to have a conversation with him and this time, I don’t want it to resort to an argument. I want to listen to his side of things and I want him to listen to my side. I take a step to him and he does the same, we do this until we are in front of him. He is looking at me and my heart is racing.

I don’t even know how long we stare at each other; I don’t know who initiates it but we end up in each other’s arms.

"Gyles, I am so sorry,’’ he whispers and I feel the sting of his apology, his heartache, his regret. I have been the one to cause that. "I am sorry, I didn’t mean to shut you down. I am sorry for hurting you.’’

I hold him tighter; I want him to know that I forgive him and I am the one who should be apologizing.

"We will sort this out, together,’’ I breathe in his arms because I don’t want to see him like this.

I don’t want to be the cause of his pain. I want things to be good between us again but I need him to also find a way to treat me better.

After a couple of needed seconds of embracing, he pulls apart and his eyes search mine. I don’t know what he is thinking but I need us to lay some ground rules. I don’t want a repeat of what happened. I don’t want to have to spend another night upset with him.

I want us to be able to communicate properly without it resorting is anger or fights. I know it is possible but this relationship is very complicated. It is almost like there is always going to be someone in the middle.

"I came here to tell you that I am here to support you in whatever decision you make.’’ he breathes out.

"We need to go back to the coven.’’

He nods his head immediately "I know, I will go anywhere with you. I will never let you have to do anything alone.’’

I smile because that is exactly what I wanted. I wanted someone to walk with me. Someone who I can talk to when I have these strange feelings. Someone who can be there for me. I want to get that from Blue, I want to know that he will always believe in me and not just think I am problematic.

"Please just trust me,’’ I whisper because I know he feels the same. I don’t want us to have this kind of issue again but I also know that we both have to try. I have to be more patient and he needs to be more understanding and supportive.

"I trust you; I was just living in fear. I still am fucking afraid to go back but now I know that this is something we have to do. We need to end this once and for all."

His words are encouraging.

I needed him on my side all along.

All the worries that I felt, all the doubt, they evaporate because he is here.

That is all I needed. Him by my side.

"Jules is coming to the community with someone, a witch. She can help us find out if Analise is still alive. She can help us know the truth and how to handle it."

Chapter 527: The getaway

Beau

The look in his eyes as the life is being sucked out of him is all I can remember of the moment. Nothing else comes to mind. Alby made a mixture. It made the whole process quick and painless.

That is what I wanted.

I didn’t want him to suffer even though he deserved to and more.

Fallon was not a good person and in death, he didn’t even redeem himself. He never even apologized for all the things that he did and maybe that is why it hurts this much. I just wanted closure. I wanted him to give me that but now that he is finally dead, I know there is no way I will get that from him and it has been eating me up completely.

Fallon is finally dead and here I am waiting for something to happen. Thinking that it cannot be over.

I can’t be the only one that thinks it was too easy.

That he gave up too easily.

Lanis has been the best through all this. It has been a whole day since it happened and ii have been in this funk for the whole twenty-four hours. I haven’t left the room; I haven’t done anything but stay in my solace.

I know he wants me to just bounce back from this but I have this weird feeling inside me that makes it hard to.

The door opens and Lanis walks into the room.

I look out of the window and the sky is bright. It is another day, another day with new opportunities.

"Hey,’’ he smiles as he walks over to me. I sit up on the bed as he stops in front of me. He is dressed in a pair of blue faded jeans and a polo shirt. He has shoes on, I didn’t even notice him when he got dressed.

I look at him and I feel a smile cross my face and it makes me happy.

"Hey,’’ I smile back.

He leans in and kisses me on the forehead. His lips are soft and warm.

"You’re doing, okay?" He asks. I nod as I take in a deep breath.

"I’m fine. It’s hard to explain. It’s just hard to think about what I did,’’ I answer. He sits down on the bed.

"You didn’t do anything that you shouldn’t have. It has happened, so I think it is best if you just try to think about the bright side of it all."

I look back to the window and I see the dappled sunlight. I turn back to him and stretch my hands out which he takes into his own. I pull him until he is on top of me. His smile widens as he touches my face gently.

"Why are you all dressed up?’’ I ask him with my hands around his waist. His smile widens as he slowly leans forward and rests his forehead on mine.

"So, Elu is here to stay for the week with the babies.’’

I furrow my brows.

"Why?’’

He grins ’I planned some time away from the community. I think it would be good to get out for a while,’’ he breathes out with the goofy smile on his face. talking to Lanis is addictive, somehow, I mirror out whatever emotions he is feeling, and right now he is excited about whatever it is he has in mind.

"Do you think it is a good idea to leave the kids alone with Elu?’’ I ask him with a slow smile crawling to my face.

He nods immediately "Elu will have bells, she will not be alone and it is just for a week."

I look at him with his hands still on my face. "So, what’s this all about? ’’ I say slowly. He grins and kisses my lips. "It’s about you and me. You and me and just some fun.’’ I smile at him as he leans back and his lips graze my neck. He kisses my neck gently and both of our eyelids started to droop. I feel the gentle waves starting to creep over my body and I felt a slight tingling. He pulls back and takes in a deep breath.

"So where are we off to?’’

"it is not a surprise, unlike you," he rolls his eyes playfully "I don’t want to kill you with suspense. I rented out a house, it is by the beach. It’ll just be us, alone. A way to get you to forget about all the commotion here.’’

I feel my eyes widen in excitement and I smile at him. "Do you think we can get a week without anything happening?’’ I ask him with a gleam because suddenly, all I can think about it spending some alone time with my baby.

He nods his head "I warned Elu already, she is only to call us for the babies and nothing else."

I take a deep breath because the more he tells me, the more eager I am for this. He jumps off from me and pulls me off the bed "Come on baby, I need you to get ready,’’ he exclaims excitedly.

He is so excited about this. I look at him with a huge smile and my head is about to explode from the excitement. He pulls me up by the hand and pushes me towards the bathroom until I am inside "You have five minutes; I will be in the babies room." He shuts the door and leaves me alone.

I know that Lanis is doing this for me, he is trying to get me to forget about everything that happened with Fallon, and even though it will not be easy to just forget about it all, I am going to try to be present with my family.

I am going to try to move past it all and my decision.

I am going to leave it all in the past because that is exactly where it belongs.

Like all the other bad things that have happened.

Chapter 528: Good bye for a little while

Beau

I walk out of the room fully dressed and I hear their voices before I even get to the baby room. Elu is laughing at something that Lanis said but I don’t pay attention as I walk into the room.

Everyone’s eyes turn to me and I smile as I walk further into the room.

"Hey Beau,’’ Elu smiles at me and I notice that she is carrying Colin in her arms. That is the thing I was talking about. Colin and Colm are identical but somehow, I can always differentiate the two of them.

"Thanks for this,’’ I tell her.

She shakes her head " You don’t have to thank me for this, I love spending time with the cuties,’’ she plants a kiss on the top of his head and my heart warms at the sight in front of me.

Before Lanis, I thought all vampires were heartless. I would have never imagined a vampire this caring towards a baby.

"I am going to make sure that by the time you get back, they have fully bonded with me. I will become their favorite aunty,’’ she giggles as she rocks him back and forth in her arms.

"I was thinking, maybe you take them to the house. I don’t want them in the community alone, just until we get back.’’

I don’t know if I fully trust that things are okay here. For now, I need them away from the community, in case things are not over with Fallon. This might just be me being paranoid but I would like to satisfy my doubt before I have regrets.

"Oh, why?’’

Lanis is watching me but he remains quiet.

"I just think they would be better in your turf; you know,’’ I suggest and this time, my eyes find Lanis and all he gives me is a nod. That is him telling me that he is okay with my suggestion.

"Okay then, I will call El and we will get them to the mansion. I am sure father will be happy about this,’’ she points out.

After a couple of hours, we all set out to the compound. "Try to have fun,’’ Bells slaps my shoulder playfully.

I know I will have fun as long as I am with Lanis, he is all I need to have a good time. As long as we are together, it is going to be the time of my life.

"Yeah, keep an eye out on the place for me,’’ I urge her because for now, in the community, she is the only one I trust.

Bells has been with me through thick and thin and I know that I can count on her blindly.

"Yeah, I will. He has been buried. There wasn’t a ceremony, just Ably and two of the other elders."

I nod because I didn’t even want to be there. I didn’t see the point of going for the burial when I was the one that caused his death. It just didn’t make any sense to me.

"Good, update me on anything important. Otherwise, don’t call me,’’ I smile at her and she chuckles loudly.

"Don’t you worry, Alanis has already warned me," I look at Lanis and the look between the two of us is all we need.

Eligio’s car comes into view and I let out a soft exhale. I am happy to be spending time with Lanis but I am also sad to be letting go of my babies even though it is just for a week. He parks the car and I watch him as he gets down from it.

"So, we are officially the godparents,’’ he exclaims loudly as he reaches for one of the car seats.

Lanis laughs loudly as he picks the other one and gets it into the car.

"You know it seems like you guys are the highest contenders,’’ he tells him and I smile at the scene in front of me.

"After this, it is you, me, and the babies,’’ I tell him because I actually don’t want to be away from them for too long.

He nods as I go to the car and lean into, the car seats to get a closer look at them. Colm is awake but quiet. His eyes peer into mine and a cute smile sprawl on his face as I lean forward and take a whiff of his scent.

He closes his eyes and gurgles loudly as it registers in my brain.

I do the same for Colin and a piece of my heart is left with them as I depart from the car.

Lanis grabs my hand in his and squeezes tightly. We watch as Eligio and Elu leave with them and my heartaches.

Is this how it is going to feel every time I have to watch them leave.

Fuck, this will never be easy.

"Are you okay?’’ he asks me.

I nod because there is a smile on his face "Don’t think of this as leaving them, we are just going away for a while. A week and they will be back in our arms."

He smiles and when he does, my heart gets light and my smile grows even bigger. "I love you,’’ he says. I smile "I love you too.’’

We get into the car with him behind the wheels and the excitement intensifies. I rest my back on the seat because this is all him. He is the one doing the planning, he is the one that is going to handle it all, so all I have to do is be present with him and that is the easiest thing ever.

I don’t have to worry about anything but loving him.

Loving Lanis is easy.

It has always been easy.

"You can take a nap if you need to,’’ he tells me as we get to the highway. I turn to him and he looks at me for a second before his eyes go back to the road.

"What if I want to watch you as you drive?’’

He laughs "It’s an hour’s drive,’’ he points out.

I shrug "I could watch you forever.’’

He turns to me again "You are so cheesy, baby.’’

I smile "And you’re so adorable,’’ I whisper as I rest my head on his shoulder. He reaches for my hand and places it on the steering wheel. "I love you.’’

He tells me again giving me everything I need and more.

Fuck I am so blessed.

Chapter 529: In tune with your magic

Blue

Jules walks into the house but he is not alone. There is someone with him and her scent is strong. She is old, a witch, and suspicious.

I don’t trust witches.

This all has to do with my mother. She has instigated this fear that I doubt will ever leave.

I don’t trust them because they are selfish, they are wicked, and they only do things to make their lives better.

Mother was the worst of them all and knowing she was dead gave me relief. Now, I am about to find out if she is still alive and it is freaking me the hell out.

"Hello son, this is Abaddon," he tells me as I lead them into the living room.

Gyles and Rex are upstairs.

They should be down here; I know that but I wanted to sort this out first.

Remember, they are equal.

My wolf reminds me of what I promised.

I have always been on my own, always been able to handle all my shit on my own and now I have two partners. There is just this part of me that wants to just sort it out on my own.

"Where are the mates?’’ Jules asks me calmly.

"Upstairs.’’

"Shouldn’t they be down here?’’ he asks me as the witch sits down on the couch gently.

Her eyes are on me, she is watching me. I have no clue what she is thinking but her eyes bore into mine in a not-so-good way.

"I will get them,’’ I tell him and leave the room until I am in our bedroom. Gyles looks up from his phone, he is the most curious one out of the two of them and I get that. He has the most to deal with.

The ghosts, my mother.

it is all just too much.

"Anything?’’ he asks immediately.

"Not yet,’’ I walk over to him and his eyes bore into mine. ’’I want you guys down with me, is that alright?’’ I ask him.

Yeah, I didn’t come up with the idea but thinking about it, I need to let them weigh in on this. I need to stop acting as the sole protector.

My wolf has a voice. It is a strong voice and it is getting louder. I think it is about time, I let him take charge for a while. Since I don’t seem to be making the right decisions.

We all go downstairs and her eyes open wide when she sees Gyles. A hint of recognition flashes through them "You are a hybrid,’’ she mutters in shock.

I take a step back because we don’t need this right now. People knowing about Gyles is not the best thing for now.

"Yes, I am a hybrid,’’ he says as he stands in front of her. His voice is strong and he is in control. I watch him and he doesn’t even look fazed. It seems to me that she knows all about a hybrid for her to react the way she has right now.

"What is your name?’’ she asks him calmly, slowly standing up from the couch and walking towards him.

"Gyles,’’ he answers as she grabs his hand in hers and pulls it up to her nose, slowly taking a strong whiff of his scent.

"Why do you have such a strong scent?’’ she asks him as he takes a seat on his couch. "Hybrids are stronger than purebloods,’" he says as he stares at her as she sits down next to her. Curiosity is plastered on her face, with a hint of astonishment. I wonder why this is the main conversation we are having.

I didn’t ask Jules to bring her because of his hybrid blood so why is that what she is interested in.

"I ask because I am curious as to why you are not hiding it,’’ she mutters calmly. Like this is not the first time she has had this conversation.

"Have you met any other hybrid?’’ I ask her.

She smiles "Now that isn’t something I should go on babbling about.’’

I raise a brow "Who are you?’’

"She is the witch from starlight pack,’’ Jules speaks up, explaining where he got her from.

I didn’t even know having witches in packs was a thing. There is no witch here, maybe it is something that Beau should look into.

Don’t you think that you should be that for them? I mean this is your home.

My wolf chirps in.

I shake my head because this is not something I even want for myself. I don’t want to be identified by my magic.

"What do you mean when you say hide his scent,’’ I ask because I have been researching on it for Jabi, I mean, after what happened with him and that vampire, it is something I have been looking into but all this talk with the coven found a way to distract me from it.

"Everyone can hide who they are, as a werewolf, your senses are heightened. So, when you see someone that isn’t like you, those senses kick in. They usually come in handy but at the same time, for someone like your mate here,’’ she turns to Gyles "It could be dangerous."

’’Any one that meets him will know instantly and you should never forget that people are greedy, they want what is rare, and he is rare.’’

She stands up "He is a hybrid and he is strong now, so you need to be careful, it will be in your best interest to hide him.’’

"How do we do that?’’ I ask calmly.

"Now this is something you should know, it is the oldest trick in the book,’’ she smiles, I feel like she is mocking me.

I know why she would think so, I am a warlock, I lived in a coven. I should be in tune with my magic but I am not.

I am so far from it and I am sure that she can tell.

"Once we are done with what I came for, maybe I can help you,’’ she suggests. I don’t know if I want her to show me, I don’t even know what I want anymore.

Maybe I need to try harder with my magic.

Maybe I need to do better.

Chapter 530: [Bonus Chapter]

Gyles

Blue’s focus shifts to finding a way to hide me from the world. I understand why this would be a topic he is interested in. I mean, with all the things that happened to Jabi, I wouldn’t want anyone to know about me. I don’t want to be like a red cloth to a bull. I don’t want to have to watch what I do and where I go.

Even though I want him to find a solution for that problem, that is not the reason why this witch is here.

She is here because he wants to make sure that Analise is still alive. I know for a fact that she is still alive.

I can beat my chest to that but somehow, Blue is finding this harder than I thought he would.

I know he doesn’t want to go back to that place and maybe it is not cool that I keep asking him to but I need to go back.

I need to right all the wrongs in that place.

"Where is the book?’’ Abaddon asks us.

I look at Blue and I see the look of hesitation in his eyes. The book that he still thinks is a trap. I am not scared of it anymore. I haven’t been since I saw Eleanor. I know that she is not a bad person. I know that she needs my help and that is the only reason why she is here.

Yeah, they used the book but this could have happened to anyone. I wasn’t chosen, it was just unfortunate that I opened the book when Blue told me not to. I still blame myself for that incident but I don’t want to dwell on it since it has already happened.

"I’ll go get it,’’ I stand up from the chair and Blue does the same.

"I can come with you,’’ he suggests.

I shake my head and manage a faint smile. He is worrying again, afraid that something will happen if I do this on my own. He still thinks that the only thing I am good for is trouble. I wonder how long he will keep that thought. I turn to him "I can do this on my own, I promise nothing will happen.’’

Rex nods "Yeah, he will be fine,’’ he encourages, and, at this moment, I am glad he is here too.

I walk out of the room and out of the house until I get to the main house. Beau’s house where I have a room.

If you ask me why we kept the book in my room here, I would say Blue. He wasn’t comfortable keeping it in our house.

I know the real reason why he wanted it here was because he didn’t want it near me. I get that but somehow, I am connected to the book. Maybe that is why I haven’t seen or heard from Eleanor.

I walk into my room and to the drawer in the closet where we kept it. I feel the chills as I reach for it. This book should be scary, I mean, how the hell did it come here when we returned it.

I know, I know.

Magic.

I open the drawer and pull out the sack containing the book. I have to force my fingers to undo the string. I finally manage to open the thing. I feel a rush of emotions at the sight. I am nervous and excited. My heart races. I grab the book tightly; it suddenly feels like my life depends on it. It is such a weird feeling.

I feel the power that the book holds.

I feel the souls that are lost inside of it.

They are a lot.

So many that if I even try to channel into it, I might lose my mind. Still, I can’t help it. I am so tempted to open it.

"You shouldn’t do that,’’ I hear her voice before I see her.

I turn around and Eleanor is staring at me with that lost gaze. I haven’t seen her since that night. I don’t know if this is a good or bad thing but somehow, it makes me understand that I have to be with the book to see them. I am pretty sure that she could have found me if she wanted to.

"Hello Gyles,’’ she calls my name and it feels like a melody. Soothing and scary at the same time.

I try to hold on to the book with my trembling hands "Seeing you is a sight for sore eyes,’’ she mutters meekly.

I take a step towards her "You came back to us,’’ she adds.

I shake my head "I never left; I just had some things to deal with.’’

She nods, almost like she understands what I mean. "You are here now, that is all that matters.’’

She seems to be the only one doing all the talking. I don’t know what I could possibly do to help her.

"You said you need my help; how do I help you?’’ I ask her.

She sighs, her voice is soft and her eyes light up with the softest green. "You can set us free; you know where we are. She buried us all in that room, you have to help us out of there.’’

She makes it seem like it is the easiest thing to do. Just go back to the coven and look for this mysterious room.

"And then what? if she is still alive like you claim she is. Then she would just do it to others. There will be more people."

"You have to stop her, we will lend you, our powers."

I look at her and I want to believe her but there is this voice at the back of my head--maybe Blue’s voice. His wariness, his doubt.

"You might not believe me; you might think this is a trap but it is not. We wouldn’t be here if we had a choice.’’

"How am I sure you will let me go once this is done?’’

"You are the one who can free us, you must have a purpose. This is your purpose; this is why you were chosen. Once we are free, it will all end.’’ I hear the room door open and she is gone before I can even utter another word. Blue’s scent kicks into the room as he walks into the closet.

"You, okay?’’

I see the look on his face.

The worry.

"Yeah, I tell him quietly as his eyes dart to the book in my hand. "They are waiting for you.’’

I nod and we walk out together.

Seeing Eleanor didn’t actually help things.

It didn’t make things clearer.
