Ch. 531..535: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 531-535
Chapter 531: The confirmation
Gyles
We walk back to the house and the silence is awkward. I know he wants to ask me questions. I know he might have heard me talking to Eleanor but it feels like he is just walking on eggshells with me.
Our conversations haven’t been the best, I know I play a part in that but it is not all my fault and I want to try and make things better with him.
"Was she the one you were talking to?’’ he asks me suddenly, still not looking at me.
His voice is calm, it is almost like he just wants to genuinely know. He is not trying to pick a fight.
"Yeah,’’ I answer honestly.
He nods as we keep walking "What did she want?’’
"I don’t know, it was the same old story. She wants me to help her, she said I could set them free by finding the room.’’
He nods "Oh, it is my house, right?’’
I nod and this time, he turns to me "We are going to go back, I am going to fix this."
"We are going to fix this,’’ he repeats "I know,’’ He nods again. I stop walking and he walks over to me with the book in his hand "I want you to trust me. I know it is going to be hard.’’
I shake my head "I trust you, I have always trusted you. It was never a question of trust. I just need YOU to trust me.’’ I add. He nods and I can feel the tension coming off him. He is fighting for control. This has always been a thing of control and until I fully understand Blue, I will not know why he always needs to be in control of everything. It has never been about me, fuck, I have been seeing things in the wrong way. Thinking that I am not equal to Rex when in reality, he just hasn’t been able to handle me the way he has been with Rex.
Rex is submissive, I am an Alpha. It will never be the same because we are different people.
"You are amazing," he says softly. I smile awkwardly and nod. "You are such a good person,’’ he says and for the first time, he is looking at me, looking at my eyes and I feel my heart flutter. He reaches up to my face and his thumb strokes my cheek "I know I have not been the most supportive but all that will change. I promise you, baby,’’ his words are encouraging and they make me feel even better.
"Thank you.’’
He takes my hand and we walk back to the house. We get into the house and walk back to the living room. Everyone looks up and I trace Abaddon’s eyes as she looks at the book with Blue.
Her eyes open widely and I see a flash of fear in it. She isn’t even close to it but it seems like she already knows what it is.
She stands up and walks over to Blue, her eyes fixated on the book. "How is this possible?’’ she exclaims, her eyes still wide.
Blue and Rex look at each other.
This is going to be a long night.
"It somehow always finds its way back to him,’’ Blue speaks up, answering her question.
"There is so much energy channelled inside this book. The forces are strong,’’ she reaches for the book and I watch her as she places It on the table. Her eyes are still locked on the book. She hasn’t taken her eyes off it. Blue and Rex sit on opposite sides of the table with me and Abaddon on the other side. Jules is seated away from the scene, not as interested in this as the rest of us.
Abaddon takes a step closer to the book and reaches out slowly with her hand without taking her eyes off it. There is immense energy in the room as her eyes finally close and she breathes deeply. "This book is not here by happenstance. This book is here for a reason and it just so happens that you are here to take this burden from it, and to fix the mistakes it has created,’’ she says as she takes a step back. "This book, the forces that are inside it. I believe it wants to be free. We just need to take it in the right direction,’’ she says and it is like she is talking to herself. "The book, it is an extraordinary book. I’ve never seen anything like it before and it seems to know things. It knows things that only the uninitiated should know,’’ she looks at me, her eyes are fixed on me. "You are the one they have chosen, you have to set them free," her eyes stay on mine.
These are things I already know. The reason why Blue brought her here is to find out if Analise is still alive. The things I saw that night shows me that she is. I just need the confirmation.
"How do I do that?’’ I ask her.
She looks at me, and this comes as a shock because she hasn’t taken her eyes off the book since we brought it.
"You need to find the room, you need to open the door and set them free,’’ she says softly. I look at Blue and he nods his head. "I saw something, I need to know if the person responsible for it all is still alive,’’ I ask her calmly.
She rests her hand on the book but this time, her eyes remain fixed on me. There is this intense expression plastered on her face "The one responsible for this prison,’’ she murmurs, still gazing at me.
I manage a nod.
She looks at me for a few more moments, and I try not to let my nerves show. Hopefully, this will be the confirmation that Analise is still alive. I look at her fingers as they tremble against the book. She hasn’t opened it yet. It almost seems like she doesn’t want to. It is almost as if she senses it as if it is keeping her from doing so. She is silent for a long time and I know that whatever she is thinking. Her eyes bore into mine and it is not long before the black of her pupils disappear and all I see is the white part.
Abaddon is breathing so hard that her face is beginning to contort and I see her eyes bulge. She trembles and her face is lit in a deep red glow as she stares with her eyes wide open. I see her muscles tense and I for a fleeting moment think that she might faint. "I can feel it,’’ she screams, her hands curl into fists. The energy is bubbling out of her and I can see the same glow coming from her pupils. Her voice is rising and building. She is shaking and it is almost as if she is possessed. "I can feel it, I can feel it all. The cold, the agony, the hatred, and the fear. It is all so strong. I can feel them all,’’ she gasps, her voice is getting louder and louder. I can see her body begin to shake and her mouth is wide open, her jaw moving as she screams the words she can’t even understand. I try to reach for her but Jules is quick on his feet.
"Leave her, do not interrupt."
I take a deep breath because this is some scary shit.
I just need an answer.
Right now it seems like she is possessed.
I don’t want that.
Chapter 532: Use the book
Gyles
It feels like an eternity.
I asked a question and I know it wasn’t that straight forward but I just thought it would be something that she could see. I mean, she saw a lot from the book.
Seeing her now, with sweat trickling down her forehead, the pain in her eyes, even though she looks dead.
after a cou0ple of minutes, I feel her let go and her eyes go back to normal. She is still breathing heavily but the chills I felt all seem to have vanished.
"Everything you saw, everything she showed you is true.’’ Her eyes go back to the book on the table and she slowly pushes it away from her. She got all that and she didn’t even need to open it?
I know there is more to this story but do I really want to know.
"How am I supposed to save them, I don’t have the abilities to do that. I don’t have the power that they think I do,’’ I tell her.
She smiles "You were chosen because of the strength inside you. You don’t know it but they can feel it. You gave them the key to all that you are."
"You don’t need me, you don’t need anyone,’’ she tells me.
I don’t believe her.
I need Blue and I need Rex. I could never do this on my own. I could never protect them all on my own.
Going back to the coven is scary, it is something that I have been dreading but from the look on Blue’s face, he knows that this is something we need to do. He has come to terms with it and that is all I wanted from him.
"Are you sure about this?’’ Blue speaks up, his voice is coarse, all the nerves that he has been trying to hold come out.
"I have never been wrong about anything." she deadpans.
I look at her and she is looking back at me, looking exactly the same as she did earlier "You have the option of letting this go. I have a spell; I can try to sever the hold they have on you."
Blue sits up from her words. I see the hopeful look in his eyes. "I don’t want to do that; I need to help them."
There is no debating it. I need to see if Blue can be supportive. He said he was going to be but I need to actually see it. This is his chance to prove to me that he is going to.
That’s not the only reason why I am doing this. That is not even the main reason why I want to do this. Thinking about the people trapped in that room. They died unjustly deaths and it seems like Blue’s mother keeps winning. I can’t just sit back and not do anything about it.
I have to help.
"That is the good answer,’’ she tells me and stands up. Her eyes go back to the book "You have nothing to worry about. This book on its own is a dark force, one that should be kept hidden but with those spirits inside, the book can’t hurt you.’’
That should be a relief but I already know that my biggest worry should be Analise and not the ghosts. The things that that woman has done, the things she is capable of, I don’t even want to think about it.
"About hiding the scent, you said we could talk about it,’’ Blue asks her as she stands up.
"Of course, can I have a word with you alone?’’ she asks him and he looks at me immediately. I nod and they walk out of the room together. I turn to Rex and he smiles at me.
Jules stands up and walks out of the house with them. "You good?’’ Rex asks me calmly.
I slide over to him and rest my head on his chest "As good as I can be right now. Is all this creeping you out?’’ "I am more worried about you.’’ He says quietly. "I know,’’ I admit. "We are going to get them out.’’ He says with confidence. "I know.’’ I tell him "Good.’’ We sit together on the sofa and stare into the fire for a couple of minutes. "I think I need some air,’’ I tell him. He nods and goes to get his jacket. He is being very considerate. We walk out of the house and I see Blue, his father, and Abaddon. They all look up when they see us but we walk past them and to the direction of the field.
"This is insane, why won’t she just die?’’ Rex whines, as it all sinks in.
I chuckle "I have been asking that question all this time. She is just the worst.’’ I exclaim.
Analise is something that I didn’t think I would have to deal with.
"She is more dangerous than you think,’’ I stop moving and notice Eleanor beside me.
I don’t know if she is trying to scare me but it is not working. It is almost like I am used to her popping up now.
"You’re here again,’’ I say as I stop midtrack. Rex watches us as I continue "You had the choice of not helping us and you chose to stick to us.’’ she mutters quietly.
Her eyes bore into mine; I see the gratitude inside them "I didn’t do this because of you. I just don’t want anyone else to get hurt,’’ I confess.
She smiles "You are a good person Gyles, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.’’
"I could die, you know that, right?’’ I tell her.
She nods "We will protect you, as long as you stay connected to the book, we will have your back.’’
I stop at that and stare at her. "Are you saying that the book would help in this fight?’’ I ask her.
She nods again "You have no idea the power it holds, give in to it fully and you could use it to your advantage. It is the only way out of this."
Use the book of evil.
I don’t know if that is a good idea but there might come a time when I will be desperate. There might come a time when I will not have another choice.
I hope it doesn’t come to that.
I hope it never does.
Chapter 533: Redeemable changes
Blue
"You don’t use your magic,’’ Abaddon accuses me and I don’t even have the energy to argue with her because she is not wrong.
I don’t use my magic.
I hate my magic but I hate that she sees me and she can tell. I wish I wasn’t so obvious. The shame that I am a part of that community is everything I want to let go of.
I know I need to move on from it and accept who I am.
"I don’t see the need to right now.’’
She shakes her head "Did you complete your training?’’
The training.
The one that I did with half a mind. I found my escape when I found out about Jules and I just didn’t bother with it. I took that as an opportunity to leave that life behind and now it seems like that life is trying to force itself on me.
"You need magic. It is in your blood."
I don’t want to tell her that I resonate more with my Lycan part. That magic was never easy for me. Even with my willed sense.
"I know that.’’
She nods "This is something you should know on your own. Being a witch takes a lot of studying, research and practice. Letting go of who you are will not make you stronger. It will only make you weak.
I hate this because it feels like scolding.
I know all these things she is saying but I have never felt good when using magic. I never felt good enough.
We are having this conversation because I asked her about the spell to hide Gyles’s scent. I didn’t need this lecture even though now it seems like I actually do.
Maybe she is right.
"Hiding the scent of a hybrid is a necessity in this world we live in. You need to have that at the back of your mind."
’How do I do that?’’ I ask her eagerly.
’There is a spell.’’ I want to hear it. I didn’t think I would and I’m glad I got the chance. She is offering to teach me. She pulls a notebook out of the purse in her grip. It is small and old looking. Slowly she opens it up and pages through it. "You need to know how to recognize the scent of a hybrid and how to hide it. You need to know how to take the blood of a hybrid and use it to make a mask.’’ ’What kind of mask?’ ’It is a mask that hides the bloodline of a hybrid. It is a scent that you can make yourself. You need to make a mask yourself. What is the one thing you notice when you are near Gyles,’’ She asks me.
It is easy.
’His blood is different.’
She nods "What makes it different. What do you feel when you take a whiff of the scent of his blood?"
"It is more intense.’’
She nods.
I watch her because this is the moment I have been waiting for. A win. Somehow it feels like I haven’t had any wins. Bad things just keep happening and I am tired of it.
I just want things to stop going the way they are going.
I need to feel safe. "So, you need to take his blood and use it in a mask. It will hide his bloodline. It will hide his scent."
’’Can I make it myself?’’
’You can. You will need a lot of blood though. You need to make a mask that can hide his scent using his blood. The blood of a hybrid is the most powerful weapon anybody can have. It is precious so it needs to be hidden. You might think that your mate is the only hybrid to exist but that is not the case. There are a few in existence and the only way they are able to live is by masking their scent. You have to do the same thing for him.’’
She rips a page of the notebook and hands it over to me "This is all I can give you; you have to figure the rest out on your own.’’
I collect the piece of paper from her and there are writings on it. Words that I don’t even understand. I don’t know how I am supposed to do this on my own.
"The moment you start doubting yourself, you know that you are in trouble. You know that your mind will turn on you and that you will lose your way. You need to trust yourself. If you ever start doubting your own thoughts, you know you are in trouble. You have to trust in that.’’ It is easier said than done but at least this is a start.
"You are the warlock of this community. Every pack needs one, you need to embrace the gift you have been given."
Her words are comforting and, at this moment, they give me the strength that I need to get through to this. I know I will make mistakes; I will hurt the ones that I love but I will try my damned best to be good to them. I will make things right and make sure I protect them.
I will not mess this up.
"Thank you.’’
This is just gratitude but I know what I need to do.
We need to go back to eh coven and I need the closure that I didn’t have from my mother. I need to let go of that part of my life and move on and this is the only way that I can do that.
Going back is the only way that I can make things right and be better.
I have been pushing and accusing Gyles of wanting to go back when it has been the right thing to do all along. He is a much better person than me and now I need to start listening to him.
I need to follow his lead for once.
Chapter 534: Everything is fucking perfect
Alanis
"Ghosts? I think this is getting crazy,’’ I breathe into the phone. I am all for the supernatural but this shit with Gyles is more than I ever thought we would have to experience.
He is talking about ghosts and yeah, he has been talking about it for some time now but now, he has his confirmation.
"Yeah, it is crazy,’’ he mutters into the phone. His voice is calm, it seems like he is handling this a lot more than I expected.
"So, you’re going back to that place?’’ I ask him just as Beau walks into the room. He is dressed in a pair of swim trunks. He is shirtless and wet, there is sand all over his body. He is just coming back from the beach. He has been spending a lot of time in the water. This vacation was worth it the moment we go here.
He has been so calm and relaxed that I wish I could make this his every day. I wish I could take all his worries away but at the end of the day, that is life. We wouldn’t be living if we didn’t have worries.
If we didn’t have to fight for the ones we love.
Things would be boring and it won’t be worth it.
He winks at me as he walks deeper into the room. He walks over to me and leans forward until his lips meet mine.
His kiss is warm, just like his body. The way I like it, the way it cools down my temperature. I deepen the kiss even though I know I should focus on the phone conversation I am having.
"Yeah, Blue is working on a remedy, one that can help hide my scent and your babies too,’’ he adds and this gets me out of my kiss with Beau. I pull him away from me slowly and he jumps on the bed, ignoring the sand trickles that get on the covers.
"Really?’’ I chirp, excitedly.
Beau is watching me but he is quiet as I continue "That is the first good thing I have heard all day,’’ I mutter as I try to contain my excitement.
"I felt the same way when I found out. It is not done yet but once he has the hang of it, I will be the test. We need to know it’s safe before using it on the kids."
For now, I know that we don’t have to worry about Colm and Colin. They aren’t going anywhere until they get older but eventually, they will have to go to school. I will want them to experience the outside world and hiding their scent is a must.
I will not let any vampire take advantage of them because they are precious to me.
They will always be precious to me, even when they grow and they want to become independent.
"This is good, I mean, this is exactly what we need. Will you update me on this?’’ I manage.
"Definitely. How is the vacation going?’’
I look at Beau and a smile sprawls up to my face. This smile, that always finds its way whenever I as much as think about him. He is patiently looking at me, waiting for me to be done with my conversation.
"It is amazing. I didn’t know how much we needed this. You should take a break from all the drama when you get back from the coven. Go somewhere with your mates.’’
He laughs into the phone "You know, that is not such a bad idea. We just have to make it out of this alive.’’
His words are full of amusement but I can’t help but take it seriously. What they are doing is dangerous, just like all the things we have had to deal with. So, every time we go through something like this, there is this voice at the back of our minds that scares us.
The, ’what if we don’t make it’ voice.
"Do you need back up?’’ I ask immediately because I would offer a helping hand if this is what they need.
"We don’t even know what we are walking into. We have no fucking clue but if it comes to that, I might just take you up on your offer."
I end the call with Gyles and Beau picks me up immediately "You’re wet and messy. Go have a shower,’’ I scold him as I try to break free from his grip.
There is a wide grin on his face. So wide that it melts my heart. His arms are around my waist, my legs are wrapped around his tightly as he rests his head on the headboard of the king-sized bed. The sound of waves crash into the room in a melodious rhythm.
"You and Gyles are like best friends,’’ he teases playfully.
The more time I spend getting to know Gyles, the more I think that this is true. "Well, he is a good guy.’’
He rolls his eyes and leans closer until his lips are gently brushing against my ear "I should be your best friend. I am jealous right now,’’ he bites my earlobe and I close my eyes as I try to hold back a moan.
He is effortlessly moving the blade of his canine from soft to hard as he starts to play around my neck. He is teasing me and it is working. His touch does things to me that I can’t hide.
"Do you want to join me in the shower?’’ he breathes softly against me. His dick is hard. I know showering is not the only thing we would do and it excites me.
"The sun is about to set, do you want to watch it with me,’’ I look out the transparent glass view of the beach and his eyes find their way there too.
His smile is just like before. Wider, brighter, warmer. "Yes. Let’s watch it together.’’ It is a playful move that he has made. To see the sun, fall from the sky is something most people are not lucky to see and the viewing is beautiful. "We will definitely be a wet and messy indoor couple right after this.’’ He winks as he runs out of the room.
I follow him out of the room and out of the house and in this moment, everything is fucking perfect.
Chapter 535: Finally end things
Blue
Two days pass by and I can’t seem to get the hang of this. The instructions are not straightforward. I knew it wasn’t going to be. She didn’t tell me the things that I needed to hear but somehow, she said this is something that I must figure out on my own.
I know I suck at interpreting spells. At making potions but I have always been able to do the bare minimum and now I wish I could just sort things out.
We are supposed to go back to the coven next week but I want to have done this before then.
I called Major because after leaving him with the whole drama that he was in, I didn’t check on him. Well, the last I heard from him, he was in hiding. I told him it was the best thing to do because he wasn’t going to win.
He could never win.
I haven’t heard from him yet and that makes me worry because I just hope she didn’t get to him. I don’t even know if mom is back to being herself or she is still in her disguise.
This whole thing is a mess that I wish I didn’t have to think about but we are here now and I have to. There is no escaping this. I can either do this and be strong or cower like I have been doing all this while.
The door to the garage opens and Gyles pokes his head inside the small enclosed space.
This is me wanting to be alone from any distraction. I wanted to figure things out before I even came out of this room.
"Am I disturbing?’’ he asks calmly.
I shake my head immediately and stretch my hands out for him to come closer to me. He takes a few steps until he is in front of me and he grabs my hands in his.
He brings my hands up to his lips and kisses them softly. I feel like he wants to say something but he just holds my hands and stares into my eyes. There is a certain glint in his eyes. It tugs at my heartstrings. Makes me feel some type of way.
"How’s it going?’’
I take a deep breath because I don’t want to disappoint him. I want to fix something for him--anything to be on his good side again. This is not even just for him. This is for me as well. I don’t want to have to worry about his safety. I don’t want to spend the rest of our lives worrying about who might want him for his blood.
"It’s going okay. I mean I got everything I needed from the book. I just have to figure out how this will work.’’
I am being honest with him.
I don’t want to get his hopes up and then disappoint him. I want this to be a transparent solution.
No secrets, no lies.
"What did the witch say? what do you need to get this done?’’
"Your blood, it says that is the main ingredient. There is a spell but I have to figure out how to use your blood to hide your scent. Does that even make any sense?’’
He shrugs but his eyes stay on me "You know, you are the smartest person I have ever met. If there is anyone that can figure this out, it is you,’’ he leans closer and rests his head on mine.
I close my eyes as I take a whiff of his scent, this precious scent that is the crave of all the vampires. I have always thought his scent was special but I just felt a warmth in my heart, whenever he was near. It made me feel alive and loved.
I didn’t want to take it and make it mine.
I try to focus on his scent and for a second, I do. I focus on my breathing and then I focus on his. I try to listen to the sounds that come out of him and they are overwhelming. I can hear his heart beating, the beating of the blood through his veins, and the drumming of his heart. I can feel the warmth of his body and the sweet sweet desire of his touch. The difference he has from all the other vampires I have met. There is power flowing through his veins. A special kind of power that is loud and alarming.
I know what I need to do.
I open my eyes and he is watching me, with a smile on his face "Figure it out yet?’’ he mutters quietly.
I don’t need to say anything else because he can see the look of success in my eyes. I haven’t tried it out yet but I am so sure that it will work. I don’t need to stress over this again.
This is the win that I have been looking for.
His blood is strong. He needs to dilute it.
That was it all along.
My phone vibrates on the table and my eyes dart to it immediately.
It is Major.
I grab the phone in my grip and Gyles watches me intently. I press the phone to my ear and take a deep breath as his voice seers through the phone.
"Blue," he calls my name and a part of me is glad that he is fine and alive. I don’t know what could have happened when we left him but just hearing his voice makes me feel better.
"Why are you calling,’’ he goes straight to the point. I wouldn’t just call him out of the blues and he knows it.
"I need to go back to the coven. I need to end this once and for all.’’
Those words are from my heart.
My final acceptance of everything that has happened. It has finally sunk in and now I have to come back to my senses and make things right.
I need to kill Analise once and for all.
I need to end things.
