Ch. 561..565: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 561-565
Chapter 561: Support and understanding
Gyles
"He is being a fucking coward right now, I can’t accept it Blue.’’
I am being honest and I am pissed. It is one thing to be afraid but it is another thing to want to bail. Rex is bailing on us right now and I am not going to act like I am okay about it because I am not. I will not agree to him going back home. I will not agree to him walking out on us.
"Do you think that was easy for him? Why don’t you just think about this from his side of things?" Blue asks me.
We are outside the room. Rex is packing his things. I hate that he is leaving. I don’t want him to leave us right now. So sue me for reacting this way.
"What side of things? Do you think I wasn’t fucking scared in that memory? I saw the things that she is capable of. Do you think I don’t want to just go back home,’’ he is trying to whisper but he is failing badly. I don’t know why he is this upset.
"Babe, calm the fuck down and let us handle this properly. What is making you so upset?’’ I ask him because there has to be a reason for this reaction. He can’t just be upset that Rex wants to go home. There is more to it.
"We are supposed to be in this together. What happens when he goes and leaves us alone? It doesn’t make sense to me.’’
"Why?’’
"What do you mean why? Do you want him to go?’’
I shake my head "This is not about me. It is about him and if he stays when he feels the way he does, that will only hold us back."
"Rex needs to toughen up.’’
"That’s harsh, stop being a jerk right now."
"Are you scared?’’
"I don’t understand.’’
He sighs "I mean, about the whole thing with your mother, are you scared?’’
I nod "Of course I am. I am fucking terrified."
"Do you want to go back to the community?’’
I furrow my brows "That is not the point. Do not fault Rex for being honest. If he can’t be honest with us then there is no point to this relationship.’’
"I am not faulting him, I don’t want him to go. What if something happens to us while he is away? I want to be with him, I want to be with you.’’
Now, this is the real reason why he is upset. He is scared of dying and he doesn’t want to be without him. I feel the same way but it is better to just accept the truth and right now, Rex is not strong enough for this fight and we need to support him, not push him to do something that he doesn’t want to do.
"You have to go and apologize to him, you have to let him go. We will end things here and go back to him."
He shakes his head "No, I won’t agree to this. I will not let him leave."
"You don’t have a choice.’’
"I do, I will talk some sense into him. I don’t think he should go back home. What do you think your mother will say when she finds out that he wants to leave?’’
"We will tell her that he doesn’t want to be with us anymore. That he couldn’t handle it. I mean that is not a lie."
"She would be suspicious, she will not just accept it and you know it.’’
I know is that Analise is already suspicious. From what I saw, she already knew that I was going to come, so she must have a plan and whatever she is planning is not for the fainted heart. I want us to be one step ahead of her, I want us to do this together but it seems like we will be losing Rex to his weakness and I hate that I even have to think this way. I hate that I am upset with him because he is afraid. This is not who I am but I don’t know how to handle this. I don’t know what else to do.
"I know that but don’t worry about it. I just need us to find a way to get him back to the community. I need him to go back."
"No,’’ I shake his head in refusal.
"Yes G, it has to be this way.’’
Blue is too calm about everything. I know there is no fighting with him. "What do you plan on doing, how do you plan on getting him back to the community?’’ I ask him because I want to know what he is thinking.
"I’ll call Beau. I am sure he can send someone for him. You just need to accept this. He has already made his decision and he needs you to be on his side. Rex has always been on our side and now you are choosing to be against him.’’
I am not against him, I am against him leaving us but apparently, this is just me.
"Fine, okay.’’ I agree finally even though I am not there yet.
He reaches for me and grabs my hand in his "I promise, we are going to be fine. Rex needs a breather from this and we need to support him.’’
I nod ’Okay.’’
He leans forward and kisses my cheek softly. I watch him go back to the room as I rest my back on the wall with a heavy sigh.
"He is right you know,’’ I open my eyes and Eleanor is in front of me. I don’t even know when she got here.
"You don’t even know what happened."
She smiles "I saw everything. I know how you feel but I don’t think you are right about this." She sighs and looks up at the roof. My eyes follow her and I see writings just above the ceiling. In red, just like the ones that Blue drew on his door.
There is a tracing that leads to his door.
"Shit."
Chapter 562: Fears
Gyles
"What is that?’’ I point to the ceiling.
Eleanor shrugs, her eyes furrowed in confusion. I run over to the door and push it roughly. Blue and Rex Look up immediately I walk in.
I ignore them and look up at the ceiling. These writings traced all the way to the top of the ceiling. How did we miss this?
What the fuck?
"What is that?’’ I ask Blue because he is the only one that would understand these things. He is the only one that should be able to read it. His eyes move up to the roof and he opens them wide immediately.
"Fuck, that wasn’t there before. How did I not notice that?’’
"What is that?’’ I ask him again.
Blue runs his hands through his hair, I can sense the frustration and nervousness masked in his expression. At some point, this should take a toll on him and I think what we saw earlier is the breaking point. He grabs the chair from the corner of the room and pulls it over to the parts of the ceiling that has the writing.
"How could I have been so stupid? I should have checked,’’ he cries as he starts to scrape the writings off the ceiling.
"What does this mean?’’ I ask him again. I need him to calm down so that we can find a solution to this. From what I can gather, the writing on the ceiling looks exactly like the one that he drew on the door, he drew it to keep everyone out. Does this mean that someone tried to get into his room?
He finally succeeds in scraping it out "She knows, there is no way she doesn’t. She is always one step ahead of us. How do I do things when she is always one step ahead.’’
He gets off the chair and I see the panic in his eyes. It seems like today is just a day of panic. First, it was Rex and now it is Blue. I am worried but I also have faith in the process. I know it is not going to be easy but I know that we will come out of this stronger.
"Hey,’’ I reach for him, trying to get him back to me "This is not over. Who cares if she knows, we just have to find that room. I want us to go look for it. I am so sure that all her powers are kept there. We need to destroy that place."
"It is not that easy G, this is more than we thought."
I nod in agreement "I know, we have the book. That should be enough to get us what we need." I am trying to encourage him but I don’t know if it is working. I am trying to be optimistic but I don’t know anymore. I don’t know how much more of this I can take. At the end of everything, I am the one that brought them here. The one that forced him to agree to come back to this place. So if anything happens to any of them, I will never be able to live with myself.
"Let’s find the room, let is do this together," I cup his face in my palms. I look around the room. Eleanor is not here anymore.
"I need to find a way to get Rex home first. I don’t want us to do anything until he is back at the community."
We both turn to Rex. He is still in the same position that he was in when I walked into the room. He looks frightened and suddenly I know that Blue is right. He can’t be here, he needs to be protected. I don’t want anything to happen to him and it seems like his being here will only make things more difficult.
"Let me drop you at the hotel, at least you will be away from this place.’’
It is just a suggestion but Blue shakes his head immediately "We are not leaving him alone. Don’t you remember what happened to him the last time he was alone?’’ he reminds me and suddenly I see where the trauma and fear are coming from. Rex has been through a lot in the coven. It has probably left a scar that I can’t repair by trying to convince him.
"I can call Alanis. Maybe he could send someone to come get him. Would that be okay?’’ I ask Blue, who just nods in agreement.
I grab my phone from the table and dial Alanis’s number. I know he is on vacation right now and I have been trying not to involve him in the stress that has been coming from us but now I need to.
"Hello,’’ he answers immediately. His voice is calm and relaxed, makes me wish I was in his shoes but at the same time I am so sure that I will get to that point in my life. Where we will forget about all the chaos and just focus on each other.
"I need your help.’’
I hear him shuffling and then he responds "What’s up, is everything okay?’’ The worry in his voice is evident.
"I don’t know who else I can call, I know you are on vacation but I need your help.’’
"Okay, tell me what is wrong. Don’t scare me like this.’’
I explain to him everything that has happened and he listens attentively. After I am done, he lets out a long breath "I will talk to Darrien. He will make the drive over to the coven. Just send me the address."
I let out a breath of relief as my eyes dart to Blue, he is watching me, waiting patiently. After I end the call, I walk back to him "Darrien will be here in a couple of hours, we can just wait until he gets here, right?’’
He sighs and then runs his hands through his hair "Yes, we can do that. Thank you for handling that.’’ he manages.
Before I can respond to him, a knock comes from the door and we all turn to the door at the same time. My heart thuds in my chest as I feel the familiar scent of his mother. That has been the distinctive feature that has let me know that she is the one. Even though I just met her once, her scent was always different.
The fear that she is on to us hit me as she opens the door slowly and walks in, in Badgers form. What does she want?
Chapter 563: The pick up
Blue
There is a smile on his face.
I know that there is more to this visit that she will let me know. Why is she in my room right now? She must have seen something. She knows something and she is here to let me know that she knows indirectly.
"We are having a welcoming party for you tonight, I just thought to let you know.’’ Analise tells me calmly with that evil smile on her face.
I have a fear that is so strong, it is making me nervous and anxious. "Welcome party? I don’t think I need one. I am fine with the oath ceremony.’’
I don’t want a party because I don’t want the distraction that will come with it. She walks over to me and reaches out "Oh, I insist. Preparations are already on the way. Why don’t you just relax and enjoy this.’’
She is trying to convince me and I don’t know how else I can reject this without it being suspicious. I just need to get Rex out of here "Do I have a choice in this?"
She shakes her head as she walks closer to me. I cannot see her disguise anymore. Somehow after that memory, all I see is who she is and not who she is pretending to be. The man that she murdered to take his face. I don’t know if Badger was ever with her in all the things that she did but I don’t think that he deserved what he got. I don’t think that anyone would deserve this kind of fate.
"Get ready before seven. Everyone will be waiting for you in the party room.’’
This is one thing that will never change about her. The fact that she loves parties. Even when she had bad days, she would always be able to smile at parties. She would forget about her problems, whenever there was a party.
"Okay,’’ I answer her because there is no point arguing with her, it will only make her upset and that is not my plan. I don’t know what she knows but I am sure that she knows something. The fact that she tried spying just says it all.
I don’t even want to get to the bottom of what she knows, I just want to end it all. She walks out of the room and I let out a heavy sigh that I didn’t even know I was holding. I turn to Gyles and he shakes his head "This bitch is crazy. How is she your mother?" he asks.
He is trying to lighten the mood and the smile that sprawls to my face shows that it worked. "So we have to have a plan. This party is the best time to figure shit out. Since I am the guest of honour, I will stay at the party but I need you to look for the room. This should be your opportunity to find the place.’’
He nods in agreement. I turn to Rex and he is watching me too. "You will stay here until Darrien comes. I don’t want you to worry about anything while you are back at the community."
I know he must feel guilty about his decision to leave but I don’t actually blame him. I know that this is something that he must do. There is no point being here when he is not okay. I need him to be safe and the only way he will be safe is if he is back home in the community.
"Okay.’’
**********************
A couple of hours pass by and I hear the sound of the band, playing the same music they always do at these kinds of parties. I left the coven and it feels like I never did. I used to hide in my room at her parties. She always knew that I hated her parties and now she is forcing me to go for this one.
I don’t have a choice but I have.
"Darrien is here,’’ Gyles pipes up from the side of the bed he is seated on. I watch him as he stands up and pulls Rex with him "Come on, let’s get you out of here."
"He is outside the estate. I don’t think he wants to come into the place." Gyles adds.
"I can drive him out of here.’’
He nods "I am coming with you."
He grabs his bag from the floor and we walk out of the house and to the compound. "I am sorry about this,’’ Rex mutters as we enter the car. I don’t want him to apologize because I don’t think he did anything wrong but it seems like accepting his apology will make him feel better.
"Yeah, just get home safely and wait for us. We will come to you,’’ I manage a smile even though I am scared out of my wits.
I don’t know what to expect at this party. I am terrified because she is always one step ahead of every decision I make. I know she has a plan, she wants to destroy me but I need to destroy her first.
"Promise you will come back home?’’
I grab his hand in mine as the words leave his lips. I will never blame him for leaving this place. I know what this place can do to someone and he is just not strong enough to hold it all in and act like he is okay and that is completely fine.
"I promise."
I drive us out of the estate and I see Darrien’s car parked by the side of the road. I park the car next to his and he gets down from his. He is dressed in a pair of black slacks and a plain tee shirt. He has on ray ban glasses and a pair of sneakers.
We all walk over to him and he reaches for the bag in Gyles’s grip "I think you all should come with me and ex this joint but Alanis said I am not allowed to tell you how I feel.’’
I watch him as he tosses the bag into the car "Hello Darrien.’’ Give it to Darrien to say how he feels. I wish I could say fuck it to this place and just leave as he said but I know that Gyles will not agree to it and I need to fix things here because as long as she is alive, I will never be safe.
Chapter 564: The search
Gyles
"I need you to come back alive,’’ Rex holds me tightly. I feel him clutching me tightly and yeah, at first I didn’t understand how he could make this decision of leaving us behind but now it is all clear to me and all I want to make sure of is his safety.
Rex is not like me.
He is not like Blue.
He doesn’t have the courage we both have and that is okay. He is perfect the way he is. He is not a fighter and that is completely fine. Tears spring out of his eyes and I don’t want to let him go. Even if I am okay with his decision. I still don’t want to part from him. I wish we could do this together but I also need to come to terms with this and let him go.
"We will be back,’’ I promise him because there is nothing but certainty inside me. I know this fight is not going to be easy but I also know that I am going to come out of it stronger. Analise thinks she is a step ahead of us but I am going to make sure she is ripped apart when this is over. For all the people that she killed. All the people that she hurt.
I am going to make sure that she suffers.
I force myself to let him go and then I watch him as he enters the car in tears. I know how hard this is for him but I also know that this is needed. We stand there, in the middle of the street until the car vanishes.
"Do you think this is a mistake?" Blue asks me.
I shrug "I don’t know. I hope not."
I don’t know the future but I know that I am strong and I have been through so much already and I am still here. I know there are forces that are working with me. Forces that will protect me and even though I am terrified of what is to come, I am also excited about the great future that I know I am going to have.
We enter the car and get back to the house. There is already a crowd outside. The parking lot is full of cars. It makes no sense to me that people would drive to the main house when they just live blocks away. The people that are left in this place must know what is happening.
"They are all acting like nothing is going on in this place." Gyles voices out my thoughts.
I shake my head because I am not so sure that they know what is going on. The people that found out the things that she did are all dead or have escaped. The people that are left must be oblivious to everything and it is sad that I can’t just tell them what is happening.
It’s not like they would even believe me.
We get down from the car and Badger walks out of the house just as we are about to enter. "You are not dressed,’’ she points out as her eyes go over the two of them "Where is the last mate?" she adds with a scowl.
I know that she doesn’t care about Rex but I think she needs to know "He left.’’
"What do you mean by that,’’ Badger raises a brow in question. I can tell he is not okay with my answer. He gave us the option of leaving. I mean, that is the reason why we have a week to make up our minds. The blood oath is not a forced affair. You have to want to do it on your own.
"He doesn’t want to be part of it. I couldn’t stop him.’’
"And this one?’’ she turns to me slowly. Her eyes pierce through me and I feel some kind of chill as she waits for my response. I need to let her know that I am here for whatever she needs. That is all part of the pretence, even if she probably won’t believe me.
My lips turn upwards for a smile "I am all for it. Nothing is stopping me." I can feel Blue’s gaze on me as he lets out a soft breath in relief.
"The guests are here, why don’t you go and get dressed." She urges us as we both go up the stairs and into Blue’s room. After a couple of minutes, he reaches for me.
’You know what you need to do?’’ he asks.
I nod immediately. For the first time since we got here, we have a plan. A plan that I have to make sure we pull through. "Analise will be distracted during the party, she is always distracted at parties. So all you need to do is remain scarce until you find the room.’’
He makes it sounds so easy and maybe it could be. I mean, I have Eleanor with me. She should be able to find the place if she is somehow connected to it.
"Okay."
He pulls me closer to him and I rest my head on his chest. His heart is beating softly. The sound is like music to my ears. Somehow soothing to the nervousness I feel right now. I close my eyes as he speaks up "We are going to be fine. This is going to work and we are going to get out of here before you know it."
His words are reassuring, I already know all the things he is saying but just hearing him say it makes me feel even better. I stay in his arms for a couple of minutes, somehow I don’t want to leave this feeling and come back to reality. I don’t want to face all the things that I know we have to.
"Come on Gyles, let’s go,’’ I open my eyes and Eleanor is in front of me. Her eyes are eager. She wants this as much as I do.
"We should get to it,’’ Blue manages as he pulls away from me slowly.
I nod as we walk to the door.
I guess this is it.
Chapter 565: A little help
Gyles
The hallway is dark.
I have a lot of reasons to be afraid right now but I want to keep a brave front. I don’t want to look weak in front of Eleanor. She is here with me, her eyes are faced forward as we look around. I should be able to find the part of the house that it all happened. The room that all those people were killed. All I have to see is the door but this place is massive. There are a lot of doors that lead to other doors and I don’t want anyone to find me.
I don’t want to be seen while carrying my search.
"Where do we look first?’’ Eleanor asks me calmly. She is too chill right now. I don’t know what she has to lose but it seems like she has a lot to lose if we are caught. She has been trapped for so long and I just want to be able to set her and the rest free.
"I don’t know, this place is fucking huge,’’ I tell her as I open a door slowly. Her eyes follow me as I look into the room. I think I have been here before with Blue. This is the potion room. We walk in and I notice all the shelves filled with books and things inside bottles that I assume to be potions. I look around the room, in search of anything that could be a clue or something.
"You are supposed to show me where this room is. How am I supposed to find it on my own?’’ I blame her.
"I don’t know where it is, there must be something blocking me from finding the room."
Her words make no sense. If she is really buried in that room as she claims, then she should be able to feel it. I don’t want to believe that Analise’s magic is stronger than everybody else’s. It is just not possible.
I look around the room, behind all the shelves. I don’t know why but something is pushing me towards this room. Something is telling me that there is more to this room than meets eye and I need to find out. I need to get to the bottom of it.
"What are you looking for?" Eleanor asks.
She is not helping me right now, so I don’t even understand her purpose. I don’t understand the reason why she is here if she is not going to help me. I rummage through the shelves in search of a doorway. A part of me feels like there could be something in here.
Maybe this is just me speculating but for now, it is all I have. I have to look for it for now.
Something shuffles from the far end of the room. We both turn to the sound immediately and I watch as she walks over to it. I follow her and stop in front of the shelf. I pick up the book from the floor and place it back in the space between the rest of the books. A heavy sound comes out and I watch as the shelf starts to split into two. My hands tremble as I see the door that I was looking for desperately. Right in place sight.
I take out the book from the shelf again, just to see how this works, but nothing happens as I wait. After a couple of seconds, I put the book back into the slot and the shelf starts to close up again. I do the same thing again and it opens up again. I reach for the doorknob and it is locked.
"Fuck,’’ I exclaim in frustration.
I don’t know what I was thinking. There is no way it would have been unlocked. She is not that stupid. She must know that someone is bound to find this place. "What are we going to do?’’ I ask Eleanor because she needs to step up and help me.
"Pick up the book again," she tells me.
I raise a brow in confusion but at the same time, I turn back to the shelves and pick up the book that serves as a key. "Open it up,’’ she tells me.
I do as she says and open the book slowly. My hands are still shaking. I don’t know why I am so nervous. I know there is no time, Analise would eventually notice my absence and it will raise questions. I don’t want it to get to that point. I need to know where the room is and figure things out before it gets to that point. There is nothing significant in the book. I look up to her with the book in my grip "Well what am I supposed to be looking for?’’ I ask her.
I am sure she can tell that I am frustrated and I don’t like that she is not helping me right now. "I don’t know, I just thought the answers will be in the book. I am sorry, I don’t know how to help. Maybe we need the book,’’ she suggests.
I sigh "We can’t go back up right now, the book is all the way in the room,’’ I remind her.
She nods but just as she does, I see a flash of light on the table in the middle of the room. We both walk to it and there it is. The book of evil that Blue kept hidden safely in his room. The one he begged me not to touch without him there.
"How is it here?’’ I ask her.
She shrugs "I don’t even know what is happening. It seems like the only one that can answer your questions is the book,’’ she smiles warmly. There is this connection she has with the book. I know they are using the book to talk to me but at the end of everything. The book will be all that will be left when they are finally free.
I reach for it and the voices that come with it swarm into my head. They are sharp and loud. The kind of voices that should terrify me if I wasn’t already used to it.
The minute I open the book, I feel a wave of wind pass over me and to the other side of the room where the door is. I hear the click and the creak of the door.
Okay.
