Ch. 566..570: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 566-570
Chapter 566: The party
Blue
This is ridiculous.
I know all the people that are in this room. They all have smiles on their faces. They are either all oblivious to what is going on, or they are in on it. I hate that I am here but she hasn’t asked about Gyles and I need to keep it that way until he gets back. The room is packed with people, they are all dressed up in dresses and suits. This is unlike most of her parties.
This is too formal.
Badger is seated in the centre of the room. Somehow, the throne fits him a lot more than it did my mother. Even though deep down I know that they are the same person but this time, it feels like she is getting the respect she has always wanted being him.
Badger has a huge statue. He screams power and I have always felt like this is something that he always wanted. It is sad that he was killed before he even had the chance to live out his dreams.
I don’t know who is going to take over the coven when we fix things but I need to get her off that seat and away from all the power.
You need to kill her.
My wolf reminds me. I know this but I don’t know how I am going to do it. I don’t know if I am strong enough to do this. I don’t know if I will have the willpower. My weakness will be her true self, I will hesitate.
I am just glad that Gyles is here with me. I could never do this on my own. People greet me as they pass by with drinks in their hands. They all seem to be having a blast and all I want to do is get out of here.
"Hello Blue,’’ a man walks up to me. He looks to be in his mid-fifties. I know him but right now, his name is leaving a blank.
"Hello sir,’’ I respond to him, in hopes that he doesn’t realize that I don’t even know who he is. He smiles at me as he takes a sip of his wine.
"How are you holding up with everything that has happened?’’ he asks me. I don’t even sense a hint of concern in his voice but I return his smile because I want him and everyone else to think that I am having a good time. I don’t want any eyes on me even though I know that is not a possibility.
I found the room.
Gyles sends me a mind link. I stand upright as I try to act unsuspicious "I am doing fine. Thank you for asking,’’ I keep my smile on my face.
And?
I send him one too. I can feel him, he is nervous but at the same time, he has the same determination that I do and I know that we will soon be out of this mess.
"I am sorry about your mother, she was a good leader,’’ he adds. I completely forgot that he was still here and talking to me. I raise a brow in question.
"Was she?’’
He furrows his brow "Yes she was, or am I wrong?’’
He is fishing but I also know that this is not the best time to say bad things about Analise, especially since she is here. I can feel Badger’s gaze on me. He might be seated far away from where I am standing but it feels like he is listening in on my conversation with this man.
"You are not wrong,’’ I dart my eyes to him and he doesn’t hide his glare "But I am sure we are in capable hands right now.’’
The man’s eyes follow mine and he smiles when he sees Badger "Oh, better hands. There is nothing like a man in power. Don’t get me wrong, your mother was a good chief but unlike her, Badger makes things happen."
His misogynistic comment makes me upset. I knew that they all accepted Badger because of his gender but it is sad to even think that this would be the reason why they would prefer him. I would have preferred to hear about all the evil that she did—if they even know.
"Oh, I see, will you excuse me for a second,’’ I walk away from him and to the direction of the exit. I feel Badger’s footsteps until he grabs my hand and stops me from walking.
"Where are you going to?’’ he asks me immediately. The suspicion is evident on his face. I know my mother doesn’t trust me and she must know something.
"I need to use the restroom,’’ I lie.
She raises a brow "Oh, where is Gyles?’’ she asks me.
I look around the room, almost like I am looking for him, even though I know exactly where he is "He should be around here, I will check for him when I get back.’’
He watches me but remains quiet as I leave the room. Once out in the hallways. The silence makes me feel better.
There is a secret passageway. It is hidden in the potions room. Can you come and find me?
Gyles sends me another message. I know where the potions room is, I have been there so many times but never in all my life, did I ever think that kind of thing would be happening in that place. Suddenly, it all makes sense. It was always in plain sight.
Right in front of me and I never know.
I don’t know if I can sneak away from this, she is already looking for you. I need to find a way to cover for you. We can sneak back there later tonight. When this is over. Maybe you should come back to the party.
I send him a reply just as the door opens and the music blares outside. I look up and Badger smiles at me "I need you inside, I have a surprise for you and Gyles. Where is he?’’
The excitement in his voice frightens me.
Whatever this is, I know it is not going to be good.
Chapter 567: The room of death
Gyles
The smell is strong.
I know it the minute I walk into the hallway. I don’t even need to find the room, I already know that it is here. This room that I have been hearing a lot about. I don’t know why there is this uneasy feeling inside me.
I know what I am walking into. I know the risks of even looking for this place but I have the book with me, I have Eleanor with me. That should count for something—at least.
I cover my nose as the smell gets stronger the further we walk down the halls. It is dark and very musty. I know that no one knows about this place. It is hidden and the agenda is known to me. Analise has used this place for God knows how long, to perform her atrocities and I plan on burning this place down. I want to end everything before we even kill her.
"Do you think we are any closer?’ Eleanor asks me.
I don’t even know how to answer her. I thought she was going to be the one to show me the way but now it seems like I will have to do everything by myself. "I don’t know, it seems like a never-ending hallway,’’ I point out as I try to find a way out of the hallway. There are no windows, no doors, just a dingy path that I don’t know how to get out of.
"It seems like we are close though, there is this stench that just doesn’t want to leave.’’ I rub my nose softly.
"I know the smell, it feels so familiar,’’ she finally says but I don’t even know what to think about her. Eleanor doesn’t even have a solution for anything and I know that I shouldn’t be blaming her right now. I offered to help—okay, I didn’t even offer, they coerced me to help because I felt like I didn’t even have a choice.
I don’t have a problem with helping. At the end of everything, I would be doing this for Blue. He doesn’t know it yet but the fact that the coven was involved and Analise was the culprit made the decision easier for me. I needed to do this for him. As long as his mother is alive, we will never be truly safe.
She will always find a way to come back and torment us.
I stop walking when we get to the end of the hall. It is a dead end with no doors. "How the hell is it not here?’’ I ask her in frustration even though I already know that she will not have the answer to it.
The book in my grasp starts to shake so fast that it falls to the ground. The book opens to the middle page and a bright light comes out of it and hits the wall. I watch the sight in front of me, unsure of what is happening. I know that the book is about to help us find what we are looking for. So I stand there and watch patiently as the wall starts to transform into a door very slowly. The famous door, that has been haunting me for a while now.
I send Blue a mind link immediately as the excitement kicks in. I shouldn’t be excited right, I don’t know what to expect from this. I don’t even know what I am even looking for.
"This is the place. This is the room.’’ Eleanor exclaims in excitement.
I reach for the door and I hear her take a step back "You’re coming in with me?’’ I ask her as I turn to her slowly.
There is fear in her eyes. I can see that she is terrified but I don’t want her to leave me to this alone. She might be a ghost but her presence is giving me some sort of comfort that I need to face this.
"Yes—’’ she tells me but I watch her as she vanishes from plain sight in a foggy mess. I close my eyes for a second just as Blue sends me a mind link back. I reach for the door again but this time, I pick up the book from the floor. Now, the book is the only thing I have. It feels like I am walking into this on my own. I know that Blue has his own battles cut out for him but I need him right now.
I tell him where to come with a mind link but he stops responding after a couple of replies. I don’t have a choice, I have to go by myself.
I open the door and step inside. "Oh my God,’’ I whisper as I step inside. The smell is strong. I can see the dried blood on the floor and the smell is just overpowering. Bloodstained walls, skeletons hung on the wall of the room, almost like a memento, scattered candles, and this is a room that is full of death. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to touch or look at any of this. I just want to get out of here because the mess that is in front of me is scarier than anything I have ever seen in my whole life and I have seen a lot of things.
There is a table at the end of the room, there is a book placed on the table and it seems to shine brighter than anything in the room.
Maybe I need to take it. This seems to be her source of power. She has her book just like we have ours. This might be the way to get to her. This might be the way to end everything.
I walk over to the table with slow strides. The floor is sticky, the room is a mess, one that I wish to be out of. I grab the book in a hurry and I feel a whiff of air that is so fast and catches me off guard instantly. I hear the door close and my heart thuds against my chest as I watch the door close with a loud bang.
"Fuck."
Chapter 568: The oath
Blue
Badger leads me into the large dining room. All the lights are on, there is a bright chandelier above the middle of the table. Everyone is seated and waiting patiently for us. I take one last look at the door because I don’t know what this is about and I can already tell that it can’t be good.
This is a dinner and everyone looks so eager for me to be here. It seems like this dinner is for me but that is what confuses me the most. Why are they all looking at me like I am some piece of meat? There are two empty seats on the table. One that I know is for Badger and the other one that I assume is for me. Where is Gyles’s seat?
I mean this party was for the two of us and I know he is busy downstairs but why will she just assume that he wouldn’t come.
"Have a seat son.’’
I turn to Badger as he walks over to the empty chair and takes a seat slowly. There is a smile on his face, the kind that sickens me to the core. I just want to leave this place and never come back but somehow, it feels like I am trapped in this hell with no way out of it.
I walk over to the empty seat as one of the waiters pours a drink into the empty glass in front of me. The table is full of food. This seems like just a normal dinner but I know that there is more to this.
"Welcome to the family,’’ a man next to me tells me as I grab the glass. I am not going to drink or eat anything but I need to act like I am. I don’t want to be suspicious. I don’t know what he means by his words but I am already scared for what is about to happen.
"Do you all know why we are here?’’ Badger speaks up.
I watch and wait because right now, I am drawing a blank. This was a party to welcome us to the coven, but now it seems like there is more to it and I also think I am about to find out. It doesn’t seem like this is going to drag out and that is what scares me the most.
Badger’s eyes stay fixated on me as he grabs his glass and raises it "We are glad that you are back, back where you belong and even though we had already agreed on the date of the oath, I decide to surprise you and make it happen sooner.’’
My heart lunges in my chest at his words.
Push it?
Is this happening today?
It can’t happen today, I am not ready for this. Where the fuck is Gyles?
Gyles.
I call out to him as my heart beats faster from the worry that is slowly taking over me. I wait for him to respond but it never comes. It seems like she never even wanted us to wait a week. Suddenly it makes sense. She didn’t want Gyles and Rex to be a part of this. I am the only one she really wanted back and now it feels like something has happened to Gyles.
"I had a week to think about it. I thought I would be granted that time.’’
She smiles as I wait for her to respond "Do you even need to think about it. I thought this was something you wanted. It seemed like you were ready for it. This is what your mother would have wanted.’’
My stomach lurches in disgust as she mentions herself.
"I want this but I need the time. I need to be ready for this.’’
She laughs. Everyone is watching us, which only makes this worse. I hate that they all have their eyes on us when they don’t even know what is going on. "There is never a right time for the blood oath. It is just something that you need to do and I am giving you the opportunity of a lifetime and I am sure you won’t refuse.’’
Fuck.
What do we do?
My wolf asks me. I can sense the fear inside me. He feels the exact same way that I do right now and we are both lost and unsure of what to do. I can’t do this oath because it will just be a mess that I wouldn’t be able to get out of.
The smile on Badger’s face only makes this worse. All I can think about is Gyles and the possibility that something has happened to him. No matter what, I should be able to communicate with him but I can’t feel him anymore. The last thing I know is that he went into that room.
"I need time." I finalize because one thing I know about the oath is that you can’t be forced into it. It is something that you should be willing to do and as long as I am not ready for it. I cannot be forced into doing it. That is why I have been able to get out of it for so long.
"You have no choice in this. I am not sure about you loyalty, I haven’t been sure about it since you came back. Now is the time to prove it. Show me that you are here for the long term." He places his elbows on the table and rests his hands on his cheeks. Everyone is watching me, waiting for me to make a decision and it feels like I have no choice in this matter.
"What is your answer?’’
I take a deep breath as I think about the best answer to this question "Gyles is not here, I should look for him."
"That man is not going to be accepted into this place. You knew that was going to happen when you walked into those gates. Werewolves cannot be part of the coven. Don’t you worry about it, he would be taken care of."
My heart jolts because I should have known better.
I should have.
Chapter 569: The feeling
Rex
I feel it.
Something is wrong.
I just don’t know what it is.
"Something is wrong,’’ I voice out my concerns in the silence of the car. We have been driving for about an hour now and I know this is the wrong time to scare Darrien like this but a part of me is angsty.
"What do you mean?’’ he turns to me and I see the concern in his voice. I have never had a close relationship with Darrien. He has just been someone that has always been there. I have more of a relationship with Jabi—his mate.
I take a deep breath as I try to control myself in this panic that has somehow evolved inside of me. "I don’t know. but now I am not so sure that leaving was such a good idea. I need to go back.’’
He turns to me again as he tries to keep his eyes on the road. I can see the way he is looking at me right now. I know that he thinks I am ridiculous. He came here because like the cry baby that I am, I cried to leave the coven. He is doing me a favor and it seems like all I am doing is nagging.
"What are you talking about Rex. we just left them."
He shakes his head as he turns back to the road. His hands clutch the steering wheel and I watch as the singular vein on his forehead comes out suddenly.
"I know this sounds insane but something feels wrong and I need to go back to the coven. They are in trouble right now. They need me."
I watch him as he moves to the side of the road suddenly and stops the car immediately. "Are you asking me to take you back to that place?’’ he asks me. there is so much seriousness on his face. Almost like this is a warning to me. I know I am not strong enough to protect them, I know I could never win in a fight with Analise but Darrien is here.
Maybe he can help me.
Maybe we can do this together.
"I need you with me.’’
He raises a brow as the words leave my lips. I see the look of refusal on his face. I know that he doesn’t want to agree to this but would he really leave me to do this on my own? I know that Darrien is selfish, if this was Beau, he would be with me all the way but Darrien doesn’t give a shit about me.
Why would he do this with me?
"Hell no man, I ain’t going into that place. the energy is not great. It seems like you are pushing me to a suicide mission." He shakes his head immediately, the refusal now evident.
"Please, I am no match for the people in that place. There is nothing special about me. How do I save the people that are important to me?’’
He scoffs "and you think I am a match; these are people that play with magic. How do I use my fists to fight them?’’
"Are you going to take me back, I can’t leave now that I know something is wrong.’’
He sighs and then runs his fingers through his hair. He is tense right now and conflicted. I don’t mean to put him in this position but I feel like I have no choice.
"Fuck Alanis, why did you put me in this mess,’’ he exclaims out.
I take a quiet breath as I wait for him to answer me but he doesn’t. I watch him as he starts the car again and turns it around to the direction we just came from. He is taking me back.
Yes.
I don’t know if he is doing this with me. I don’t know if this is him agreeing to come with me. I don’t know what I am walking back into but I feel the chills. I feel something terrible happening and I don’t know how I am going to fix it. I don’t know how I am going to protect them.
This drive is the slowest I have ever been on, even though Darrien is going over the speed limit. He is as fast as he can be and I can tell that he is upset. This is all my fault. I am the one that brought him here but I can’t help but think that there is a reason for everything. If I was with them, I might have been in danger too. I wouldn’t be given the opportunity to go back with Darrien.
He hasn’t agreed to go back with you. don’t rush into that thought.
My wolf scolds me even though I already know.
"You know this is fucking insane. I don’t know what you expect me to do. Are they even going to let me in with you? what is the fucking plan?’’ he sounds so angry but all I can take from his words is that he is coming with me.
A slow smile forms on my face even though this is not the best time to even have a smile on my face. I don’t know what could have happened to them. I don’t know why I feel this heavy weight on my chest. I have never felt anything like this.
"Thank you,’’ I manage as I try to shake all the negative thoughts out of my head. I know they are going to be alright.
"Don’t thank me yet. Just make sure I don’t die on this suicide mission or I will haunt you the same way those fucking ghosts have been hunting Gyles,’’ he turns back to the road and I sit back on the chair and close my eyes slowly.
I want to prove myself and maybe this is the time for me to do that and more. I have been so scared all this while—I am still so scared but I want to get them out of there. I want to be the one to save them.
Chapter 570: The only way out
Gyles
This place is cold.
I am so cold.
It seems like the only thing that is happening in the place getting colder. My hands are shaking and no matter how hard I try to push the door, it wouldn’t budge.
The book is still in my grip. It should be useful to me right now but nothing is happening. I don’t even know how I am supposed to use it. I don’t even know what to do.
"Help me,’’ I call out, I don’t even know who I am calling to. The misty fog comes out of my mouth as I try to steady my breathing. It feels like there is no oxygen in this place. The air is eerie and daunting.
If I don’t get out of here, I am going to die.
I don’t want to die.
"Anyone, someone, help me,’’ I try as I clutch unto the door handle. Everywhere is cold and shilling. The room is creepy and carries this disgusting smell. I know what the smell is. I know that so many people have been sacrificed in this room.
I don’t want to be next.
I let go of the door handle and open up the book in the hopes that something will come from it. Where the hell is Eleanor? She was supposed to help me with this but no she is just...gone.
Nothing happens.
No matter how much I try. I read all the spells; I call out Eleanor but nothing happens. It seems like time slows down in this room. It seems like am slowly losing my mind. I thought we had a plan but now it seems like Analise was one step ahead of us. As usual.
I fall to the ground in despair with my back to the door. I don’t think she is going to let me out of here unless she wants to. Something feels wrong with Blue too. I can’t feel him anymore. somehow, it just seems like the connection we have has been erased.
Fuck.
I close my eyes as the cold starts to get to me. I don’t know how long I keep my eyes closed but sounds of shuffling from the room make me open them again. my eyes are wide, the fear eminent as I see the figures walking over to me. Almost like darkness is here to take me. The kind that I don’t think I will be able to come out of. I stand up immediately because I don’t want to be caught up in this. I don’t want to die today. I have so much to live for, I have so much to see.
"Help," I shout, as the shadows come closer. The sounds they make are terrifying. Like humming in pain. I want to scream until someone hears me but I don’t know if there is a way out of here.
"Come with me,’’ I hear a voice, like a bright light surrounded by this darkness.
I look to the sound of the voice and just as I thought, the person is masked in brightness. I don’t know who it is, I don’t know if this is part of Analise’s plan but for the first time in this room, I feel like I can trust something. I see his hand, as it reaches for me. so close but also so far away. My hand stretches as I feel the chills of the darkness.
There is the option of going with either the darkness or the light. I know the obvious choice and that is what I need to do. That should be the way out of here.
I finally touch the light in the form of hands and I feel myself transcend into the light. I feel myself leave this room in the form of mist. It feels like I am floating. It feels like I am traveling through space and time away from this sick room, away from this place.
I close my eyes as things move faster, as everything happens like a flash of light and when I open my eyes, I see where I am. My hands are trembling as I take a step to see who brought me here.
"Eleanor,’’ I call out her name immediately I recognize her in the midst of other faces. She walks over to me and I shake even further. Unlike all the other times I have seen her, this time, she feels real like she is her own element. This world that she has brought me to isn’t my world. It isn’t the world where Blue and Rex exist. I know that much but I need her to explain what the hell is going on.
"Where the fuck am I?’’ I ask her immediately because I don’t even have the time to be beating around the bush. I need answers and she must have them. They are the ones that brought me here so they need to tell me where the hell this is.
"I had to do something, I had to get you out of there. I didn’t want you to end up like we did. consumed by?’’
She sighs and walks further into the light. The more she walks, the clearer things become. I see a transparent wall, one that shows the room. The room I just left. It is like a mirror. One that feels so scary.
"Where the fuck is this?’’ I ask her.
A man walks over to us and I flinch from the fear that I am surrounded by all these ghosts. This is not normal. This doesn’t even feel like a good thing. Seeing them was one thing but being like them right now is another.
"The only place we could keep you safe,’’ he manages to answer me but it doesn’t feel like an answer. The more time I spend here, the scarier it is beginning to feel.
"What does that even mean, I need an answer right now," I shout angrily.
Eleanor takes a deep breath "The place we are all trapped inside of. You are inside the book Gyles."
Fuck.
