Chapter 571: The reaction

Blue

"I am not doing this,’’ I stand up from the chair in a frenzy. If this is what this is going to turn into, then I am leaving. I don’t want to have anything to do with this place. I need to find a way to get the fuck out of here.

"I already said it. You have no choice in this. You are either in or out,’’ Badger stands up from the chair too and her eyes stay on mine. The anger in his voice is strong. I don’t know what she expected from me. She must have known that I would never want this. I have never wanted this, in all my life. I don’t want to be part of this place. I will never take this oath.

I will never be one of them.

"I don’t want to do this under pressure. I need time to figure out what I want.’’ I shake my head immediately. Maybe my refusal to do this will let her give me some time. Time to think this through before I make a decision. I know it is a long shot but this is all I have. I have to get out of this dinner and find Gyles. Something doesn’t seem right.

"You don’t have the choice. Yes or no Blue,’’ she smiles even though her eyes tell a different story. This is her way of saying she is not going to take no for an answer but I can’t say yes to this.

"I refuse Badger, I will not be forced into this oath. I want to do this with my mate."

I am using the excuse that Gyles is not here even though I know that it will not fly. She doesn’t care about Gyles, she doesn’t even care about me. This is just about who she can control and right now, I am not within her reach—where she wants me to be.

"Then you leave me no choice,’’ she pauses and turns to the door "Seize him,’’ she orders the guards by the door. I didn’t even notice they were there in the first place, which just makes me think that this was her plan all along.

I watch them as they grab me immediately pulling me away from the table "This is not fair, you cant just control everyone the way you are doing. You people are letting her do the same thing all over again,’’ I shout to all the people at the table.

In their eyes, I look like the ex-chief’s crazy son who is just rebelling right now. They don’t see what she is doing. They don’t even see HER.

"I have tried to see things from your side. I have tried to understand that you lost your mother and it has been a tough time for you but I will not tolerate your treason. I will tolerate you thinking you can use this place as a side home whenever you want to. If you are not with us fully then you are not with us at all."

I try to push them away from me but their grips are strong. I know what I can do to escape from this. I know what I need to do.

I need you right now.

I channel all my energy to my wolf because I am not going to just let her lock me up. I know that is her plan. To keep me, prisoner, in this place. I will not let her win. I feel my wolf respond and the transformation is the quickest I have ever experienced. I don’t even have the time to feel any pain. The usual pain that comes with turning. All I feel in this moment is anger as they let go of me from me pushing them so hard till they hit the wall. When I am on all fours and in total control of my wolf, I trot over to her. All the anger that I have felt all my life comes out of me. I watch her as she takes a step forward, not even afraid of me. She raises her hand up and I know what is about to happen. I know that she is about to use magic and I will not let that happen. I am quick to react, my teeth out and grabbing her hand.

I feel her scream as I rip out a piece of flesh and grab her again. I can sense the guards inching closer to me. I need to get her out of here. I need to be alone with her. I need to kill her. I am fast, as I drag her out of the room, hurriedly pushing the main door open with so much force that it falls apart. I don’t even care. I need here away from the coven and all her powers.

Badger is heavier than my mother ever was, even though he is the same person as her right now. He is stronger, so I know that I have to try ten times as much as I would with her. I don’t know if this is all me and my wolf or if I would find out that this is her plan but I keep running, ignoring all the footsteps of the people that follow us.

I run until I get to the woods. Until I see the tress and the moon. I run as this one thing gives me strength. I run even though I feel her slip out of consciousness. As long as Gyles is still alive, he will be fine, since she is here. I just need to take her away from the coven. I need her to be weak and helpless.

After a couple of long minutes of running, I get to the other side of the town. My breathing is spiked as I drop her on the ground with no guilt. She is unconscious but I can tell she is still alive from the rise and fall of her chest.

Blue, blue where are you? Why can’t I reach you?

I hear Rex through the mind link.

I am okay.

I am back at the coven. Where are you

Chapter 572: Sneak attack

Rex

I get to the gates of the estate and Darrien takes a deep breath "What is the plan exactly? You know that man by the gates will never let us in.’’

I look to the security guard as he glares at us suspiciously. I don’t know how I plan on getting us inside but I need to find a way. There has to be a way to enter without creating a scene.

"I could take him, it will be pretty easy for me to take him,’’ Darrien adds with a smirk. I know this is the kind of thing that he likes to do. Using his fists, showing how macho he is but I am sure we can talk to them, they will let me in if I ask. They let us in earlier and he knows me.

"Let me handle this," I tell him as I open the car door and get down from it. Once I am out of the car. The man in the uniform walks closer to us. He has a serious expression plastered on his face. he is angry, I don’t know why.

"I am sorry, I can’t let you in. No one can leave or enter the gates for now,’’ he tells me even before I utter a word.

I let out a sigh and pull my glasses up my nose "Why not?’’

He scoffs "I can’t divulge that information. Why don’t you just turn around and go back the way you came,’’ he waves at me, trying to scurry me away.

I hear the sound of the wind and in an instant, Darrien is at the security guard’s back and with that speed, the sound of the man’s neck, breaking is all I hear. He falls to the ground instantly and Darrien smiles at me cheekily with a shrug.

"You were not getting through to him. I had to find a way,’’ he winks and I watch him as he grabs the man’s hands and pulls him into the house by the side of the gate. Once he gets out he stops in front of me.

’So what next, how do we find them? Have you tried reaching out to them again?’’ he is impatient and maybe he is exactly what I need right now. He might just be the best person to handle all my shit. I take a deep breath as I send Blue another mind link. The worry I have is immense and I don’t know if I will get a response.

His response is quick and it makes my heart jump in relief. I have been trying to contact him since we turned around and this is the first time that I have actually felt him. it gives me the relief that I needed.

Where are you?

He is not as quick to respond to me as I am but I get his response immediately.

"He is not in the coven anymore but he wants us to look for Gyles. Something happened to him. He went looking for the room, I don’t know how I am supposed to find him."

"Well, you have to do something. Fuck I didn’t sign up for all this,’’ he runs his hands through his hair. "Open the gates. Let’s get to the main house,’’ he orders me. I nod as he goes back to the car and I open the gate, clutching unto the metal. My hands tremble as he drives into the estate.

He stops the car as I close the gates and I enter the car "Do you know where this room could be?’’ he asks me.

I nod "He said I had to look for the potion room. I have been there once but the main thing is getting into the house. Something must have happened for Blue to be away. So they will be looking for him. They will not just let me waltz in."

"So, are we just going to give up?’’

I shake my head "No way, we will find a way in. We will get into the room and to the bottom of all this. As I direct him to the main house, we see people on the streets, they are looking at us suspiciously. "Something happened here,’’ Darrien points out, even though it is pretty obvious.

"Yeah.’’

We get to the main house and he parks his car. Blue’s car is parked next to Darrien and I notice it immediately. There are people standing by the door of the house. They look like they are ready for a fight.

"They aren’t going to let us through, shit." Darrien sighs out as he starts the car.

"What are you doing?’’ I ask him as he turns the car around.

"We need to park a couple of blocks down, I don’t know what could have happened here but these people are not smiling. We have to find a way around that is the only way."

I nod as he takes us to another street. We get down from the car together "So do you know like a back entrance into the house, there has to be one."

I nod "The one by the kitchen, we can use that,’’ I inform him.

Where are you now?

Blue sends me a mind link.

We are back at the house. Trying to see if there is a way to enter without being seen.

I have Analise. I am waiting for her to wake up. I need this to end.

I freeze at his words because if I had the opportunity to have the person we have been trying to eliminate. I would have killed her by now.

Okay. Have you been able to reach Gyles? I haven’t.

Same. Something is wrong but I am sure he is still alive. I can feel a little bit of him. When you get to the room, let me know. She is weak now, so her magic must be weak.

I want to believe him right now but I know that just because she might be unconscious, doesn’t mean she didn’t put things in place. I just have to make sure that I am very careful.

Thankfully, I have Darrien with me.

Chapter 573: Show yourself

Blue

Nighttime has always been my favorite. I always loved the peace and quiet. The sound of nature waking up. I would look up at the sky and admire the stars. The night was always a calming time for me but right now, I am far from calm.

We are under a tree, even though we don’t need the shade as the sun has long set. Badger is still unconscious. Blood is pouring out of the bite. I don’t even give a shit right now. I would be happy if she just dropped dead.

I feel like me just watching her in my wolf form is a waste of time but I don’t want to go back to the coven if she is still alive. I need to see her in her true form. I need an explanation as to why she did all this.

I don’t just want to kill her while she is unconscious. To me, that just doesn’t make any sense.

Wake up, dammit.

My thoughts are in anger. I just want to get this over with. it is almost like she hears me cause in the next second, her eyes partly open slowly. I watch her, ready to attack, in case she tries anything. At first, the look of confusion fills her face but once her eyes land on me in my wolf form, recognition hits her immediately.

She tries to sit up but I see the pain in her eyes, it is evident and there is this big part of me that is happy for the pain she is feeling. She must know that is me because there is fear in her eyes. She didn’t expect this to happen and she doesn’t know what I am going to do to her.

I use this opportunity to turn back to me. I want her to see me as we have this conversation. I want her to know how much I hate her.

How much I wish she was never my mother.

"What are you doing son,’’ she asks me with Badger’s voice. I want her to be herself. I want her to show herself.

"The games are over. you can stop playing."

I am naked. I should be vulnerable but right now, all I can focus on is making her miserable. That is all that matters. I don’t plan on sparing her life. I don’t want her in the same world that I exist. I want her gone out of my life and my world.

It is not as easy as I think it is going to be but I at least have to try. I have to be strong in this moment because she is my sole focus. She is the one that I need to eliminate.

He shakes his head as blood continues to pour out of his hand. I want her to bleed to death. I don’t even need her to suffer anymore. I just want her gone.

"What are you talking about. I let you come back to the coven. I accepted you back, as a son. I knew how much you meant to your mother and I wanted her to live on through you and this is how you repay me,’’ he tries to stand up again but he is too weak. He has lost too much blood and it makes me glad.

"Cut the bullshit. I know the truth. You don’t have to keep pretending with me.’’ I roll my eyes because her façade has gone on for too long and I am sick of it.

"I don’t know what you are talking about. If you want to leave, you are free to leave but don’t even come back.’’

I scoff "I don’t want to leave; I want to kill you but I need you to show your true self first. I am tired of all the lies."

"What true self?’’ she asks me.

She is still trying to keep up the lie.

I am not fucking here for it.

"I know who you are. I know you know that I know." I run my hands through my hair to keep it out of my eyes from the wind.

It is starting to get cold but I must keep my brave face. I can’t let her see me with even the littlest bit of weakness.

"I don’t know what you are talking about,’’ he shakes his head.

"Fuck, then you leave me no choice. I am going to kill you and this time, I will make sure that you stay dead,’’ I blurt out in anger. That is the plan, to kill her but why am I hesitating right now.

"Then do it, kill me. If that will make you so happy. End my life and live with it. come on son, do it,’’ a slow smile forms on her face. Now she is mocking me.

I will always be the weak son that she had. The one that she never believed could take over the coven after she died.

I will always be her biggest mistake.

My heart is throbbing in all the anger that I feel right now and I know the best thing to do is to just end this.

End this.

My wolf growls at me.

I reach for her; she doesn’t budge as I wrap my arms around her neck. This is not the way I wanted things to go but this is the way it is going to have to go.

"Do you think you can kill me? How many times have you thought I died?’’ she asks me as her smile widens. My hands are engulfed around her neck, she is supposed to be in pain and all she can do is smile.

What kind of monster is this?

"Show your true self, stop hiding behind masks,’’ I growl angrily. I need this to fucking end. My grip is tight, her eyes are wide, her face is red but she is still smiling.

I fucking hate her.

"You miss your mommy I see. Why not give you what you want,’’ she mutters and I hear it as her voice starts to change. I recognize the change. I know the voice.

This is what I wanted.

She is finally here.

Chapter 574: Numbness

Blue

My hands stay tight around her neck. I don’t want to let go; I want her gone out of my life. This is the only way.

"You are going to kill your mother? After everything I have done for you.’’ she cries, I see the look in her eyes. Almost like she is laughing at me internally. I know there is no remorse—there will never be remorse when it comes to her. she will never change and I know that. I watch her as the life starts to dimmer in her eyes. They are red and tear-stained. Her face is red and the veins on her forehead look like they are about to pop.

I don’t say anything as I watch her die right before my eyes. All the anger and pain that she has caused in my life come out at this moment and I don’t want to stop, I don’t want her breathing the same air as me.

Silent cries escape from her lips as I see her take her last breath. I do this and I don’t feel any guilt. I don’t feel anything at this moment as she makes me numb to it all.

The moment she takes her last breath, I let go of her. I let go of all the memories. I let go of everything. My hands fall away from her grip as I take a deep breath. The shock takes over me as I watch her—lifeless on the cold hard ground. Her body is nothing anymore.

You did it.

My wolf commends me.

I know I should feel good about this but I don’t. I don’t know how I feel, am I supposed to feel sad?

Is looking at her and all that she was supposed to make me feel guilty?

I don’t even know.

My hands tremble as I check one last time, to make sure that she is really gone. Her scent is completely gone. It is almost like she was never even here in the first place.

I killed my mother.

"Fuck,’’ I exclaim in the cold dark night. I have to go back to the house. I don’t know the situation of things right now and I am scared. I am scared that I am going to be misunderstood by all the people in the coven. I know now that the elders are dead, which is not a good thing. A coven without elders is not a coven.

’’Fuck,’’ I exclaim again.

I don’t know what to do in this situation. I need to find Gyles and Rex. I need to take her body back but I don’t even know right now if it is a good idea to show everyone what I did. They should believe me if they see her body, I mean, she is actually already supposed to be dead.

I need to make a decision because there is no time again. I need to think fast. What do I do now?

Take her body back. Explain things to the people of the coven and find your mates.

My wolf instructs me. I know that is the right thing to do. I can’t leave her body here. I have to own up to this action that I have done. I have to show them that the person they thought they could trust was not who she said she was. I have to show them that Badger has been dead, they need to see everything.

I grab her lifeless body and walk over in the direction of the house. I need clothes, I need to find something to wear. I get back to civilization with her in my arms. There are people around. I don’t want to have to explain myself while naked. I have to find clothes first.

Rex, where are you?

I send Rex a mind link, I don’t know what he could possibly be up too. I sent him a mind link telling him to go and look for Gyles. I haven’t heard from him and I don’t know if he has found him.

I wait in front of the entrance. From where I am standing, I can see the house. if only I could just walk into it without being noticed. I know it will be impossible. I know they are all looking for me, wondering where I took their chief too.

We are in the room. I can’t find him.

He finally responds to me. My hands tremble as I tell him where I am at the same time dropping my mother in a corner by a tree. Right now, I need to be with them. somehow, that might just make me feel better. I haven’t been able to communicate with Gyles since the last time and I am worried. I have my mother, dead in my arms and I am terrified that this will just be another one of her tricks. I don’t know if I can handle another surprise that comes with her.

I need to just end all this.

If I find out that she is still alive after this. I don’t know how I will handle it. I wait in the dark for Rex. I wait until I see him as he walks out of the door. The first thing I notice is the book of evil around his arms. This has me confused but right now, I can’t even focus on that. Darrien is with rex and they walk over to me instantly.

"Baby,’’ Rex takes me in his arms immediately and that warmth that I needed to feel comes immediately.

I take a deep breath as I hold him tight. For the first time since I parted with them, I feel better. I feel safer, I feel something from all the numbness that took over after killing her.

"Why are you naked, what happened?" Rex asks.

Darrien is quiet.

There is blood all over me and I am sure that they can see it all even though it is dark "Here, I brought you clothes from your room,’’ he pulls away from me and I notice the clothes in his hands.

"It’s a long story, did you find Gyles?" I ask him.

He shakes his head "What is going on in this place. What was that room?" Darrien speaks up with a sharp undertone.

"It is a long story Darrien. I just need to find a way to explain to the people here that Analise is dead.’’

"You killed her?’’ Rex asks with shock written all over his face.

"She’s right there,’’ I point to the corner where I dropped her but she is not there anymore. My eyes open wide in confusion and shock. "Wh..what,’’ I stutter in confusion.

What just happened?

Chapter 575: The empty room

Rex

"You know we didn’t even have to sneak into this house. The people here are fucking stupid." Darrien tells me with a scowl on his face.

I know he doesn’t want to be here and he is lashing out at me. I get it but all in all, I am grateful that I am not alone right now.

"Why does it seem like trouble always follows us, I mean, first we had to deal with Cassius and now we are dealing with witches. This all doesn’t make any sense."

I am quiet as we walk into the house. a big part of me wants to remind him that this is just about Blue. Unlike the time with Cassius. The whole community had to deal with it together but this is a fight between Blue and his mother.

The pack is not involved.,

"You are too quiet; do you even know where you are going?" Darrien adds. He seems to be rambling right now.

"Not really,’’ I confess. I have been to the potions room once with blue before. I don’t even remember where it is. I don’t want him to see me as someone that doesn’t even know what they are doing even though that is exactly what it looks like right now. I am walking in a path that is unfamiliar to me and It seems like Darrien can sense it.

"Then where are we walking to. I mean, we can’t just look everywhere,’’ he tells me in exasperation. I turn to him slowly as we descend down the stairs. He is getting impatient and I completely understand how he feels.

"I just need to find the basement. Once I do, I know which door it is."

He nods "How many stairs do we have to take to get to the basement?" he asks me calmly. I guess I just need to communicate with him. I don’t really know how to handle Darrien. The only person that he is patient with is Jabi and he is not here right now.

We finally get to the hallway and I count four doors down to the potion room. "I think this is it,’’ I tell him.

I reach for the door handle and it pushes open immediately. Once I see the familiarity of the room. I let out a sigh of relief. We both enter the room and he starts to look around. "What are we looking for exactly?’’ he asks me as he starts to rummage through the shelves.

Blue didn’t give me any information. He didn’t explain anything to me, so i don’t even know how I am supposed to find Gyles. I haven’t been able to communicate with him through a mind link. It is almost like he disappeared without a word and it should scare me but I can feel him. In fact, the connection I have with Gyles now seems stronger. It is just that he is silent. I know he is trying to communicate but something must have happened to him.

That is the only reason why he would go silent on us both.

"How do we find this mysterious door?’’ he adds in question.

I am getting really frustrated with his questions because I don’t have the answers to them. I don’t know exactly what he wants me to say. I don’t know how he wants me to have all the answers to it all.

"I don’t know Darrien, please can you just let me think for a second,’’ I snap at him from all the frustration I feel.

Blue is somewhere in the woods, Gyles is nowhere to be found. I feel so alone and useless. I hear a creaking sound from one of the shelves in the room. We both turn to ut and I see the bright light, shining through it. I walk over to it immediately and Darrien’s footsteps follow behind me.

The light seems to be coming out of a book and the minute I pick it up, the shelf pulls apart to reveal a door. I see the door and instantly, I know that this is the mysterious room that we have all been looking for. I know that Gyles found it, that is the only explanation I have. The door creaks open before I even have a chance to open it and I turn to Darrien immediately.

"This is fucking weird Rex; I don’t think it is a good idea to go in," Darrien tells me and even though I am scared, I know that I have to go in. I have to go in because Gyles went into this place and that is the only way I will be able to find him.

"I won’t ask you to come with me, but I know that I have to do this."

He lets out a sigh as I turn back to the door. Once I walk in, I feel the air change. There is something terribly wrong with the halls. It is different from the other one and I don’t like the way it feels. We keep walking until I see the sole door. The room that Gyles has been having nightmares about.

His presence is stronger, I feel him inside me. All over and this confuses me because I can’t see him and I need to find him.

"What the fuck is this place?’’ Darrien speaks up immediately. His voice echoes in the darkness as we stop in front of the room.

"This is the room,’’ I exclaim with all the dread inside me. I am scared, terrified because I know of the evil that has happened in this place, and now, I will have to go inside.

The minute I step into the room, the air changes even more. I feel cold, and hot at the same time. It is a small enclosed place, and he is not here. Gyles is not here right now. the walls are stained and dingy.

"What the fuck is this?’’ Darrien screams out in terror. My hands tremble as I try to look around. My grip is still on the door. I don’t want to let go of it because this place is unknown to me.

"What is this?’’ Darrien asks and I see him bend down to pick it up. I recognize the book immediately.

"It is the book of evil."

Gyles had it which means he was here.

But where is he now?
