Ch. 581..585: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 581-585
Chapter 581: Side tracked
Blue
the walk back to the house is slow. I know I should hide but I am just so upset. A big part of me wants to be found. I want to see her again. I want to have a one on one with her.
I promised Rex that I will come back and I intend to keep that promise. My will to live is stronger than it ever has been. I have so much to live for. I have so much to long for and I will not let Analise take that from me. She will not win this fight.
I get to the streets and it is empty. the people that were loitering have all dissipated and this is perfect because I font even want to see anyone. I breathe out the words from one of the only spells I am so familiar with. The invisibility spell. I used to use this a lot as a kid. I would leave the coven whenever I wanted an escape and never be found. It always came in handy whenever I needed a breather. The only person that could counter the spell. She has always been the only one that was always one step ahead of me.
I never really had a beef with her. It was the place that got to me, so I never really saw her for what she really is. The coven she was in was nothing more than a cult. She was taught to be something that she was not and that was to hurt me and destroy me. I have been burned too many times... this time I am not letting anyone hurt me again. I need to get back to my home. To be by myself. To find myself... to see what else life can offer.
I need to break out of this life.
Once the spell has taken effect, I walk to the front door. It is not easy using this spell because I still have to move everything, the only difference is that I won’t be seen.
I can’t just walk through the doors or anything like that. I still have to open it and you can imagine how weird that is. I walk up to the door and I manage to do it. I open the door and I step inside and I walk upstairs. I want to see if she is still asleep and I want to just see her.
I want to understand what she is doing?
this is not what I came to the house for and I know that but I am so curious to see what she has become. she left me just a couple of hours ago when I thought she was dead.
I killed her myself.
I need to understand what the hell is going on.
How the hell she has harnessed so much power.
I walk into her room and slightly open the door. It creaks a little too loudly in the dead of the night and I stiffen because I don’t want to get caught.
I just want to understand what the fuck she is up to.
She is basically eliminating everyone that is against her. The elders are dead, her sister and best friend are gone.
I know I am next.
I will never understand why she is doing what she is doing, we will never be on the same page. So, she will find a way to get rid of me. I have to get rid of her first.
I see her bed through the tiny open space in the door, a figure is on the bed but from where I am, I can’t see who it is. Even though I am pretty sure that she is the one. I don’t know what transpired after she went back to the house. I don’t know what she told the people but I am sure that she just told them more lies.
Analise is a liar, that is all she ever will be.
I walk into the room because I want to see her. I want to see if she is back to her disguise. I need to know.
Is that why you are here? is this the plan?
My wolf asks me, which makes me stop as I just enter the room. I know he will not understand me and I know this is risky but I just need to see.
I just need to know.
I tell him.
I wish he felt the same way I did but I know that he is my sense of reasoning and I know that he is right.
What is the point? You are literally holding your mate who is trapped inside a book and you want to see your mother.
I take a step back from his words because I am so stupid. I need to find the potion room. I need to get Gyles out of the book first and then we can figure out a way to get rid of Analise together.
Better.
I leave the room and head in the direction of the potion room. I open the door and there is only one candlelit. I turn on it and it creates a small sphere of light. I look around the room for anything that could help me. There are a lot of books, things that I would have to check before I find the answer that I am looking for.
I don’t have the time.
I drop the book on the table as I feel the effects of the invisibility spell wear off and I open the book. I open it because I need it again to show me a way. I need the easy way out of this mess and I know that this book is the only one that can help me.
"I am here now, I have fully accepted you, help me get him out. I know that you know the right thing that I need,’’ I call out to no one in particular. One thing about books like this, they listen and I know that it is listening to me.
The dark energy is already looming around me and I am welcoming it with open arms.
Chapter 582: My hero
Gyles
I can hear him.
I can feel him. There is this ache inside me because I feel his need for me. I know that he is slowly suffering, having to deal with this. I know that Blue is beating himself up for this and I hate that this happened.
I see him go into her room and somehow as he is communicating with his wolf, I hear it all. I don’t know why; I don’t know how but I listen closely. It feels like trespassing but somehow, I have access to his thoughts and his emotions and I don’t even want to leave this beautiful space. I don’t want to leave because I don’t know when next I will have the opportunity.
I didn’t even know that he held so many emotions for his mother. He always acted like he didn’t care, like he didn’t feel anything towards her but right now, I can see the truth. I see the truth and I wish I could hold him; I wish I could take all his pain away.
My story has always seemed pitiful but at least even with all the things that happened to me, I had people that took me, took care of me, and genuinely cared for me. I never knew pain because I was shielded from it and by the time everything came crashing down, I was far gone but Blue on the other hand has never felt the loved that you are supposed to get from the people that matter.
His mother has always been there, close to him but she never gave him what he needed and now he is at a place where it is life or death.
He is at a place where he is going to have to end her life and even though he has been acting like is something that he is ready to do, his heart is breaking from just the thought.
I don’t want him to feel this way but it is also something that he is going to need to feel it all. He is going to feel like the world is crashing down on him and he is going to feel beaten down and broken but he is going to get past it, he is going to move on from it.
He is going to be okay.
"What is he doing now?’’ I ask Eleanor even though I know that she might not know.
I can feel the aura of the environment change. We are in this book. Almost feels like a prison to me but to them, it is a solace. Something that is helping them from being perished. Their story is different from mine. They had to come into the book to find a way to be free.
I had to come into the book because it was the only option I had. It was the only thing I could do asides from dying.
"He is trying to find a way to get you out of the book,’’ she explains to me even though I am present in everything that is happening. I can see him, I can hear him, I can feel him. I don’t need to be outside the book to know how he is feeling right now.
There is a dark aura looming over our heads in the book. From his request, everything dims. I don’t know if it is a good idea for him to be asking the book for everything. He is a warlock; this should be up in his alley. For once, I wish Blue actually took his training seriously. I wish he knew all the things that could save us at this moment.
A bright light flashes suddenly and I watch it as it rushes out of the transparent wall and into the real world. Blue is looking at me, inside the book, the desperation evident in his eyes. I see him, see the light. I watch him as he follows the light to the right shelf. I watch him as he walks over to the shelf and picks something up.
He turns around, walking back towards me, his steps shaky. I can hear his ragged breaths as he makes his way towards me. I can see his face; his lashes are wet from the tears that he is crying. I see that he is holding something in his hand. It is a small bottle, there are similar bottles like that in this place. Similar bottles but I am sure that they all have different purposes.
He reads the instructions on the bottle and I watch him as he quickly gulps down the contents of the potion.
In a split second, I feel something that feels like an earthquake and there is another bright flash. When I open my eyes, I see him, inside the book with me. Standing just above where I am seated.
There is a smile on his face, one that feels too victorious.
He is so happy but I am wondering why he is in here. He was supposed to take me out of the book.
"What just happened?’’ I ask him and he looks at me, suddenly as he grabs my hands and pulls me up. his hands feel very warm. A much-needed contact.
"Come on, before this wears out,’’ he tells me hurriedly. His voice soothes me completely and I feel a pure bliss from just hearing him.
I get up. We are walking back to the door that leads out. It all looks so different from how it was just a couple of seconds ago. it finally looks like a way out.
"I will see you outside,’’ I tell Eleanor, Blue isn’t even focused on the people in here. His eyes seem to be fixed on me. I know he just wants to get me out of here and I want the same thing.
"Yes, I will come out later." she smiles just as Blue nudges me out of the doorway. I feel a cold chill pass through my body as we pass through the door. I feel the excitement and rush as he holds me tighter. He might have used the book to find the solution but he did it. Blue will always be my knight in shining armor.
He will always be my hero.
Chapter 583: Amber
Darrien
"You are calling me,’’ Amber bellows calmly. It is late at night and I am doing this even though I have a strong mind that this is a mistake. Amber is the only witch that can help us right now and if I don’t ask her for this, we might be here for God knows how long.
"Yes, is it too late to talk?’’ I ask her.
I can almost picture her smiling "It is never too late for your call Darrien,’’ she whispers into the phone.
Amber knows that there is not even a slight chance for us. Our story ended a long time ago and it is one that I never want to even think about. I don’t even see myself on that path.
"I need your help and I know that this won’t be the first time but this time, no one else can help me with this. You can refuse if you want to but I hope you don’t."
"Do you ever miss the past?’’ she asks completely ignoring my request.
I don’t miss the past, I am in a place in my life that is perfect. I have never been happier. so, I can’t miss the past especially since I don’t even remember if there were any good times.
My relationship with Amber only left bad memories. I did things that I don’t even want to remember, so I don’t know which past she is talking about. All I know is that Amber is a very powerful witch and she might just be the only one that can help get rid of Analise--or at least figure out how we can kill her.
"I don’t think about the past and I hope you don’t too.’’ I manage, I don’t want to sound too cold but from the strain in my voice, I am sure that is how I come across.
"The past is all I think about."
I take a deep breath as Rex watches me calmly. He has no clue on what I am doing but he is also desperate for a solution. He seems to want this to end as much as I do.
"Why did you call?’’ she adds.
"Because I need your help.’’
"With your mate?"
I shake my head even though she can’t see me. Jabi is safe in the community. I don’t have to worry about him for now.
"Something else. I have a question. One that I know you are the only one that can help me answer."
"What do you want to know,’’ she mutters with a slow sigh.
"How do you kill someone that can’t die?"
"That is such a vast question. There are so many people in this world that harness immortality." she pauses. I hear shuffling in the background "Can I find you?" she adds.
I know what she means by this. Amber has this ability, to come wherever someone is, as long as she has something of that person. This leaves me to wonder what she has of mine.
I know the right thing to do right now is to let her come, for the good of us all. I want to go back home and I don’t trust Blue’s abilities, not because he is not good enough, or strong enough but just because this is an emotional fight for him. His enemy right now is his mother and even if he is making it seem like he doesn’t give a shit about her, I know that it must hurt him to some point and I don’t want the weakness of the connection to affect this fight.
"Yes, you can,’’ I state finally.
I know how this works, there were times when we were apart, times when I really wanted to see her. times when she wanted to see me. I feel her energy before she appears in a hologram. it feels like our two worlds come together, and I am grateful that Rex is here with me. I don’t want to be alone with her. I don’t want her to even get the wrong idea in this situation.
This is a favor, one that I hope to repay her when she needs it.
She is dressed in a long white lace dress over her ankles. Her hair is down and long, and black. The beauty she carries will never be forgotten. I watch her as she looks around in confusion. I know she is wondering where I am, wondering what is happening but this is too long to explain to her.
"What is happening,’’ she walks over to me as I stand up to match her level. Rex stands up too and I see the fear in his eyes. He is confused and maybe I should have explained things to him before she showed up.
"It’s a long story,’’ I manage.
No time to explain it all.
Her eyes dart around the shed, the confusion sprawled all over her face. She is wondering but I can tell she is also waiting for me to explain.
"This person that can’t die, who is she?’’ she asks.
"A witch, just like you."
She turns to me immediately with raised brows "Is this a coven? are you in a coven?’’
Amber is and never has been part of a coven. Just like Blue’s father, she is a lone witch. One that preferred the solace. She never belonged in a community with people. I think that is what made her the way she is today. Having a family is something that I have always had. I might have been on my own most of the time but they were always there, I could always rely on my family.
She has no one and maybe that is why she is who she is.
"Yes.’’
"Why are you here Darrien. Who are you trying to kill?"
I take a deep breath as I mouth out Blue’s mother’s name. Her eyes open wide just as the name escapes my lips and I see the recognition in them.
"I want to kill Analise."
Chapter 584: The host
Darrien
There is shock in her eyes.
I don’t know if she knows who she is but the look on her face is giving me major suspicions right now.
"Analise is dead,’’ she manages in disbelief.
"Yes, in the eyes of everyone, she is dead but I know otherwise. She is still alive, and has taken over someone else’s body."
She runs her fingers through her hair and I watch her pace back and forth. She is as bright as the stars in this state she is. Shining in the dark shed but right now, all I can focus on is getting her to help us.
"I don’t mess with witches, I like to stay on my own.’’ she looks up at me finally, her eyes wide.
"I know, I have no one else to ask. You are the only one that can help me right now.’’
"Why, what have you gotten yourself into Darrien? Why do you keep messing with the wrong people?"
I have been asking myself that question since I got here. This is all Alanis’s fault. He is the one that roped me into this and now I have to stay till the end. I can’t just leave them here, knowing that they can’t handle this on their own. The person that they are dealing with is way stronger than them. From what I have seen, she is also ruthless.
"That is beside the point Amber, I know this is too much of an ask but you also know that I wouldn’t be asking you if I wasn’t so desperate."
I see the pain in her eyes. I don’t mean to be so cold but I also need to be very honest with her. I can’t let her think that there is hope for us. Our story ended a long time ago and I don’t want to revisit it. I don’t even want to even think about that time.
I don’t ever want to revisit that part of my story.
"As you did the last time. It seems like as each day passes by, you are needing me more and more,’’ she raises a brow as those words leave her lips.
It is one thing to call her and it is another thing for her to be gloating about it. I know that I can’t push her away because she is right, I actually do need her.
"I know and I don’t want to give you the wrong idea. I know this is a lot to ask for but I need you to help me. With all the things that have happened between us, I know that there is still a part of you that cares about me. A part of you that sees me as a friend."
"A friend?’’ she asks me.
I don’t know if me pushing for this friendship that doesn’t exist is the best thing but I am desperate and this is all I have to offer her.
"Yes, can we move past everything that has happened?"
She looks at me, her eyes never leaving my face. There was a time when her stare would do things to me. I always knew that I would eventually find my link but with Amber, things were different. There was chemistry and excitement. Through all the good and bad, we had memories.
Memories that I completely forgot.
"Why do you think I am the one that can help you?’’ she asks finally and I see the look of defeat in her eyes.
"Because she is just like you.’’
She raises a brow "Are you comparing me to the chief of this coven. Less you forget, I have been on my own for years now." she reminds me even though I already know that.
Amber is a loner and there are reasons for that.
"That’s not what I meant. The immortality that you have, the one that has kept you so young and alive all these years. She has the same thing."
"I know the kind of magic Analise is playing with. Everyone in this world knows and it is not one that we like to even involve ourselves with. This is a big ask Darrien, getting me involved could lead to my demise."
I take a deep breath as she continues "But, I will help you. I will do what I can to get you out of this mess even though I don’t even know how you got here in the first place."
She takes a step towards me and my eyes dart to Rex, he is watching us attentively. There is nothing for him to say.
"I can only tell you what to do as I am not here but you have to listen to me very carefully.’’ She breathes out calmly.
I nod as she places a hand on my cheek. I feel a slight tingle—not the kind I feel when Jabi touches me. More of an electrical shock. Maybe it is all the magic that she is harnessing right now. Her hands stay on my cheek as she moves even closer to me until her lips are just slightly brushing against my left ear.
"There is one of her that will always be mortal, all you have to do is find that one. The one that she has kept hidden. Once you kill her real host, you kill all the other ones that exist will die,’’ she whispers into my ear.
I have no clue how we are supposed to even find what she is talking about "What do you mean, how do we find it?’’
She pulls away from me slightly but her eyes remain fixed to mine. They bore deep into mine. My hands tremble because she is doing so much for me and she doesn’t have to. She doesn’t have to help me but here she is.
Doing all this because of a past that I once let go of.
"The real Analise is dead, why not check her grave. There might be more to it than you know.’’ she pulls away from me completely and this time she vanishes instantly.
Deep down, I know that she has given me the answer we need.
This time, we might just be one step ahead of that woman.
Chapter 585: Always one step ahead
Blue
"We should leave this place,’’ Gyles pulls away from me slowly. I have been holding him for a couple of minutes and the more time that passes, the more I don’t want to let go. I just got him back and this might be the part of me that is scared that something else could happen at any moment in time and I could end up losing him again but I want to hold unto him until we leave this coven.
"Yeah, I just need to go back down there. She is not expecting me to be in the house. She fucking chose to go to bed, after everything that happened today. She doesn’t even see me as a threat and that is what hurts the most.’’ I confess to him.
I have been beside myself since I went to her room and saw her asleep. It makes me feel even more useless. I know that my mother has never actually thought of me as good with magic and I don’t dispute that but going to bed means to her, I am harmless.
She might not know a lot about me but just even thinking that she is probably laughing at me and my failures make me feel even worse.
I feel like shit and I hate this feeling so much.
"That doesn’t matter. You know what you are capable of, I know what you are capable of and that is all that matters."
I sigh because I am exhausted "Can we go back to the room, can we go back and find what we were looking for?’’ I ask.
He shakes his head "That is not the plan, don’t get emotional and forget that.’’
"There is no plan and you know it. I just need to figure out how to ruin her. She must have a weakness. Everyone has a weakness, I just need to find it."
He nods "And we will figure it out together. Let us go back to Rex and Darrien and then we can talk it through. Don’t just act rashly right now."
I know he is right but I am scared that if we go outside, we might not get the chance to come back inside the house. The door to the room is just staring me in the face, all I have to do is open it up. I have the book with me and this time, I intend to use is wisely. Going back into the room will help us figure things out. It will help us free all the spirits and find whatever is making her so strong.
"She has a book, one just like this one. It is in that room. I saw it the last time." Gyles tells me.
"Let us get it." I encourage him and head over to the direction of the door. I feel him stiffen against my touch before we even reach the shelf that has the door. I turn to him slowly and he is looking away from me. I pull him closer to me until his eyes are on me "What is wrong?’’ I ask him worriedly.
He shakes his head immediately "I don’t want to go back in there, I don’t think it is a good idea for us to go back in there.’’
He is scared and that is completely understandable. I am scared too but my will to end this all is stronger than my fear. My mother thinks I am weak, that she will always win in this fight—if she even thinks this is a fight. To her, I am just her child that is being stubborn. That is all I will always ne to her. A child that can’t do anything.
"I don’t want to leave you out here, I don’t want to part from you but I also need to go back to that room. That might just be the only way we can end all this."
The certainty in the sound of my voice makes it seem like I even know what the hell I am doing but I know that this is another trial and error. I have no choice but to do this but I also don’t want to leave Gyles alone. I don’t even want to part from him for even a second.
"I am here with you, you have to trust me,’’ I cup his face in my hands as he clutches unto the book. It seems like he has more of a bond with the book than me—I mean, I can get that, he was inside the book for hours.
"That’s not the point, there is just someth8ig about the place. Something that creeps me out. A smell that I have been unable to get out of my system. Terrible things happened inside that place and I don’t want to have to go back there again.’’
This is supposed to come as a shock to me, considering the only reason we actually came back to the coven is because of Gyles. He wanted to. In fact, he mandated us to come back. I have no regrets because she needs to pay but we also need to end this.
"I can wait for you in the shed with Rex. I don’t want to go back in there.’’ He shakes his head again, even though I am still holding his face.
’Babe, I want you with me, I can’t do this without you,’’ I manage in desperation.
"What exactly do you think you are doing?’’ I hear her voice before I see her and my heart races to the sound of it. We both turn around immediately, all the fear that I tried to push away resurfaces. I needed to get the book to get her at her weakest but now we have nothing.
My mother walks over to us slowly with a smile on her face. She is in her true form, not in the guise of Badger, the way she has been since we got here. She is happy, happy to always be one step ahead of us.
"Hello son,’’ she smiles.
