Ch. 586..590: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 586-590

Chapter 586: Set an example

Blue

"I let you leave this house, numerous times. I didn’t keep you as a prisoner because I knew that you really didn’t belong here and even when you killed me, I still gave you a chance to leave but here you are again. Trying to be the reason for my demise." She walks closer to me, her legs move as she walks closer to me.

I turn to Gyles slightly and he is clutching the book. His hands are shaking in fear. I know that whatever he saw in the room is what caused this new fear. He is terrified of her and I need to protect him in a way that I always should have.

I try to move but my legs are stiff. I can’t move. She must have done something to me—yet again. Fuck, how am I supposed to protect him when I can’t freaking move my legs?

"Let us go, we will leave and you will never see us again."

That is a lie but at this moment, I will take leaving the coven over our deaths. I need to protect Gyles but I am at the point where I don’t know how to.

"Let you go,’’ she stops in front of me. There is a smile on her face, almost like she is enjoying this a little too much. I don’t know how I will be able to get through to her. I promised Rex that I was going to come back with Gyles. I made that promise with the sole intention of keeping it but how do I do that. How do I fight someone that is always one step ahead and actually win?

"Yes.’’

She reaches for my face and raises my chin up "I have always treated you as good as I could. I always saw a big part of myself inside you son. I have always tried to love you like a mother should."

I don’t know if she is in denial.

These are just words. Words that are anything but sincere.

She has never been a mother to me. I have never felt an aorta of love from here so I don’t even understand what she is saying right now. She has the opportunity to kill me and from all the things I have heard about her—all the things that she has done, I don’t have any doubt that she will actually kill me.

"I just realized that as long as you are alive, you will always be a threat to me. You will always try to come back and save the day. You will always try to prove that you are not all those things I said all those times."

I shake my head "I will leave, I will never come back. I will never set foot in the coven again.’’ I assure her with all the convincing in my might. I don’t know if it is believable because she is my mother and she knows me.

She knows that I hate her.

I tried to kill her, so why should she spare me.

A slow smile sprawls on her face. Her hand is still on my face. The room is suddenly so hot, that sweat starts to fall from my forehead. I am scared because I know that it will take her a second to end my life.

"Meeting your father was the biggest mistake of your life. I should have never allowed you to be part of that life. You became something else after that,’’ she lets go of me and I watch as she walks over to Gyles. He is close to me but at this moment, being unable to move, he seems like he is miles away.

I wish I could shield him. Take him away from this mess but he is here and there is nothing that I can do at this moment.

"What do we have here?’’ she looks at the book in his grip and I see him clutch unto it tighter. He doesn’t want to let go of the book because the book has been the only thing that has been protecting him. It makes me feel even more useless and weak.

"You are the reason why my son thinks he can have a life outside the coven. You are the reason why he thinks he deserves happiness."

My eyes stay fixed on Gyles because I want to do something. I want to help him but I font know what to do. "Maybe the biggest punishment would be to kill you instead, I am sure sparing him then will be worth it."

She reaches for the book and I watch him as he tries to fight her off it. I also notice that his hands are still moving. I can’t move mine, maybe it is because of the book. It is somehow giving him strength. Maybe he needs to keep the book in his grasp. Maybe that is the way out of this.

Don’t let go of it.

I send him a mind link and he looks up at me immediately. There are tears in his eyes, red and all blotched up. The pain in my heart is enormous. One that I will not be able to reduce for now.

"Stop this, please just let him go. Kill me, kill me instead." I shout to cause a distraction. She turns to me for a second but it is not long "You think I will spare him, a fucking werewolf and kill you, I might be a monster but I still have a conscience. I will not kill you and leave him. I have to kill you both."

She turns back to him and I watch her as she snatches the book from him. My heart shatters as he tries to reach for it but this time, his hands stiffen, just like mine. He is covered in tears, I watch him unable to do anything.

"I will do this the right way. I will show the people of this coven how much of a disgrace you are. I will kill you in front of everyone."

She walks out of the potion room and out of my sight.

Chapter 587: The mausoleum

Rex

We get to the gate and I see the signs that we are on the right track. This is the place, the graveyard. The one we needed to find. The fact that things are happening so smoothly makes me feel like we could have a win for once.

"We need to find her grave and rip her head out of her body." Darrien voices out, the anger in his voice so evident.

I smile because I am glad that Alanis sent him. There is just something about him. I know I can rely on him even though he acts like he doesn’t have a care in the world. Darrien is a family-oriented person. Once he has love for someone, he will protect that person and everyone that is associated with the person. He is doing all this because of Jabi and I am glad that I am associated with the kid.

Glad that he came here, glad that we have a little bit of help.

"It seems like you like to rip heads off,’’ I smirk at him jokingly.

He chuckles as he tries to push the gate open. There is a tiny gate in the middle of the metallic fence. I can see through the gate, so I see all the graves. I haven’t always been a fan of graveyards but this is the first time that I am excited to be actually entering one.

I thought it was going to be hard to find the place but seeing that we are here is a relief.

"Well I’d like to think that the bitch deserves that and more,’’ he succeeds in pushing the gate open and we walk in together. Side by side. I am not saying that I like the drama but I and Darrien seem to be a good team.

"It seems to me like a lot of people have died in this place. Makes it all the scarier.’’ He comments as we walk around the place.

For Vampires and Werewolves, death is not usually the end. We have the gift of immortality. For werewolves, we live for as long as we want to, for as long as our wolf is happy. The minute our wolf no longer feels the need to live, we age and then we die.

Witches are not meant to be immortal.

Analise is cheating death with evil and now we know how to get rid of her finally. It has been a while since I heard anything from Blue but once I sort this out, we wouldn’t have to worry about him not being safe.

"Death is not a scary thing,’’ I turn to the other side of the graves, still searching for her name on the tombstones. "Where do you think it could be? This just feels like a never-ending cycle," I ask him because the more names I see, the more tiring this becomes.

He chuckles "it has to be here, there is no other place to look,’’ he sighs, running his hands through his hair.

I don’t know how long we search for her tombstone but it feels like hours. The field is very large, the graves are plenty and at some point, I almost give up when I see a building in the last part of the other side of the gate. There is a big lock on it, one that should seem hard to unlock.

I stop in front of it and I hear Darrien’s footsteps behind me "This should be it. Makes sense that they will not just bury her with the others, right?’’ He mutters. The excitement is evident in his voice.

I know what this is a mausoleum. There is a large plaque on the golden door, there are engravings on it. One that I can’t read.

"We should go inside and find out, I am sure I can break the lock," I reply in excitement too. The closer we get to her grave, the closer we get to a win. One that I really need right now. With all that has happened, we could all go for this win.

"I don’t think it will be that easy. It could also be a trap. One that I don’t want to enter." He sighs. I watch him as he reaches for his phone in his back pocket.

"Who are you calling?’’ I ask before he presses the phone to his ear.

He looks up at me for a second "Amber, we might need her for this."

I nod in agreement. As he said, this could be a trap, one that I don’t want to fall into. We have been falling into numerous traps since we got here. We have walked into so many messes blindly and if Darrien is going to be the voice of reasoning, then I will gladly take it.

I will take anything, as long as I don’t die.

I close my eyes as I wait for him to get through to her.

Where are you Blue? Is Gyles out?

I send Blue a mind link.

Yes, and no.

I take a deep breath because now can sense that something is wrong. There is this immense ache in my chest and it feels new.

What happened?

I ask him immediately.

My heart is racing because I already know what has happened. As usual, it seems like Analise is one step ahead of us again. She must have them. That is the only reason why I would feel this sensation of pain. I open my eyes and Amber is here again in her spiritual form. I watch her as she walks over to the door.

Where are you guys?

I send another mind link, as I wait for his response. My heart is at a standstill as I wait for him to answer me. It feels like an eternity. I feel cold and alone because I don’t know what is happening.

Analise has us trapped in the potion room.

As the words travel to my heart, I feel it shatter completely. She is not going to spare them. She is going to end up killing them.

Chapter 588: The search for the graveyard

Rex

"Her grave?’’ I ask Darrien.

He nods his head immediately. I was present through the whole conversation and I saw it all but there are still so many questions that I have that seem unanswered to me.

Who was that girl?

How does Darrien know her?

It seems to me like there was something between them, I just can’t pinpoint what it is. They have a history that I am sure Jabi doesn’t know about. The fact that he brought her with me here just shows me that he has nothing to hide. I see Darrien and he is trying it help us. That says a lot for the kind of person I have known him to be.

"Yes, we need to find it. Her real body is there, the one that she is protecting. It makes so much sense and so little sense at the same time to me."

"Where are we going to find it?’’ I ask him.

He shrugs but I watch him as he laces up his boots and walks over to the door "There has to be a graveyard here. We need to find her grave and then we need to kill her. I don’t know how we are going to do this but I know that once we do, it will all be over and we can all go home."

He makes it sound so easy and the determination in his voice is intriguing. I wish I was like him sometimes. Darrien is the definition of brave. I have never sensed fear in him. He always goes into things with his head first. We walk out of the shed and the cold air hits me instantly.

The sky is dark. I have never been one to be afraid of the dark but the sounds of nature make me terrified. I am a fucking wolf and I am scared of nature. Does it even make sense?

You need to get a grip on yourself.

My wolf pushes me. I can sense the frustration inside me. It is one thing to be frustrated about everything that is happening but it is another to be frustrated with yourself. I am tired of being afraid. I am tired of being a coward.

I take a deep breath as Darrien walks further into the woods without even batting an eye. I follow him immediately "So where do you think it could be?’’ he asks me.

I look ahead of me as we walk, unsure of how to answer him. I don’t know anything about this coven but I know that it will be close to the main house. Blue and Analise’s property. We have to go back to the main estate.

"We should check by the house. There is a field behind it. I saw it once from Blue’s room. It might be there."

He agrees with me instantly and we turn to the other direction. I know the way out of the woods. I am good with directions, so I lead him until we see clear trees and the streets. "So you lead the way as I have no clue where we are,’’ he smiles and I return his smile.

Once we get to the house, I lead him to the backyard, the way that we used to enter the house through the kitchen. There is a high fence on the opposite side of the house. It seems like the other side of the fence might just be what we are looking for.

This is not what I signed up for.

I am now in search of a grave.

If you had told me that I would be grave digging by coming to the coven, I don’t know if I would have agreed to come here. Maybe I would have done a little bit of convincing. I was solely in support of Gyles coming back here. I wanted him to because I knew that he would never be fully free if he didn’t set those ghosts free. I didn’t want him to be hunted for the rest of his life but now it seems like the memories of this place are all going to haunt me for the rest of my life.

"You didn’t ask any questions about Amber,’’ Darrien speaks up suddenly. I turn to him immediately and his eyes are on me.

I know what this is. He is feeling guilty.

He doesn’t want me to get the wrong idea. I can understand why he would want me to know, he would want to explain, so I don’t go and tell Jabi anything. I am not going to tell Jabi anything because from what I have seen. I don’t think he has done anything wrong.

"Is there anything you think I should know?" I ask him.

He chuckles just as we stop in front of the fence. I look around for an opening, something that could lead us to the other side.

"She is my ex.’’

I already knew that.

"Okay.’’

He turns back to the fence and I watch him as he finds an opening. He pushes it open and we both peer in. I see a field of grass, one so vast. It will take us a while to find what we are looking for. The land is empty, the night is dark.

"She’s a witch, we had this thrilling relationship years ago. Before Jabi, before any of this." He explains. I don’t need all this information but I like that he trusts me enough to talk about this with me—maybe I am just the only one here.

"We should look for the cemetery, see that over there,’’ he points to a gate in a far end of the field. "I am sure that is what we are looking for,’’ he pushes the plank open completely and I follow him as he goes through it.

"I might be opening Pandora’s Box with involving Amber yet again, but I hope not. I hope this doesn’t become the one thing that I am avoiding."

"What is that?’’ I ask him curiously.

He takes a deep breath as we walk over the grass and to the direction of the gates "Her anger. No one can handle an angry Amber. I never could.’’

Chapter 589: Get over yourself

Darrien

"Why are you calling me again?’’

Her voice is cold and distant. At this point, I know I am just milking it. This is too much to ask for from someone I haven’t spoken to in a long time. Especially with the way we ended things. I didn’t really give Amber the chance to get closure.

I just disappeared and left her, with no explanation as to why I didn’t want to continue the relationship. I knew the things that I did with her, the person I was becoming dating amber wasn’t the best. So after a lot of interventions from my family, I chose to walk away.

I knew that leaving wouldn’t be easy but it was something that I had to do. Something that was best for both of us. I would never fully be hers and she knew it.

"I need your help, there is something on the door, and I don’t know if it is a good idea to open the door blindly."

"You need me again,’’ she sighs into the phone. Unlike the last time, she doesn’t ask for permission as she appears in front of me again. She becomes the only light in the darkness of this cemetery. I look at Rex and his eyes are closed. He seems to be focused on something else.

"Rex,’’ I call his name.

He opens his eyes immediately and I see the fear in them. I don’t know what could have happened but I can tell that he is panicked right now. "What’s wrong?’’ I ask him, slowly walking over to him. I rest my hand on his arm and he looks at it in confusion. I am being different from how I usually am. I am being patient and a good friend and it feels good. I want him to know that he can count on me at this moment.

He can trust me.

"She has them?’’

"Then there is no time, you need to find what you are looking for,’’ Amber interrupts us before I can respond to him.

We both turn to her and I watch her as she starts to chants something that I can’t understand. Then she throws her hand in the air and a wave of energy moves through her. The door starts to shake and I watch as the writing on it starts to vanish. I don’t want to know what she just said or how she did it, all I need to do is get this over with.

"You have ten minutes, once that time is up, she will be alerted of what you are doing. That is all I can give you,’ she vanishes again and this time, the lock on the door falls to the ground in a loud thud. I don’t relish her departure as I walk into the dark room. There is no light in here but my eyes can see it all clearly.

"She has them Darrien, I need to go and look for them,’’ I stop walking as the words leave his lips. My head moves in disagreement because he can’t leave me here right now.

This is the priority.

We need to get this done and then we can think about helping them. "You can’t be serious Rex, this is what we have to do. This is the plan,’’ I remind him because he is not in his right frame of mine. He is delusional and I understand how he feels, I have felt that way before.

I know what he is going through right now and I have to be the sense of reasoning. "She is going to kill them, I need to get to them before she does." He cries.

I grab his hands in mine, my attempt to stop him from freaking out but he is so far gone "Dude, get a grip of yourself. We have ten minutes in here, there is no time to fucking cry." My voice is loud—you can’t blame me for my reaction.

I let go of his hands because and go over to the other side of this room. I will not let anyone be responsible for my life. If I have to fucking of it all on my own, then I will. I have a man to go home to, one that loves me so much. One that I will never let go of. Rex and his mates are too emotional, they are not thinking with their heads, their hearts are too into their decision making. I will not let them sidetrack me.

I grab my phone and switch on the torch. This brings a blaring light into the room and I see the white walls and the labelling of names. My eyes search for only one name, the person we are here for. It takes about a minute of going round to find her name and when I do, I don’t hesitate as I pull out the ledger that brings out the coffin.

I hear footsteps and see Rex beside me. His eyes are still welled up but he has stopped crying "Are you ready to help me?" I ask him.

He nods just as I open the coffin with my super strength. I expect a stench to come out of it. I mean, this is supposed to be a dead body but there is no smell. I point my phone light on the figure and sure enough, she is inside. What this looks like is a vampire in a sleep state. What Belis is on right now. What every vampire has experienced at least once in their life. She doesn’t look dead—in fact she looks very healthy.

"We have to kill her,’’ I muse out with a sigh.

He nods immediately and I see the look of dread in his eyes. He doesn’t want to do this but I don’t mind. I have killed so many people in my life. I mean, does it really count if the person has been dead so many times?

"I can do it?’’ Rex manages, his voice shaking.

"Okay, come on, we don’t have time."

Chapter 590: More than I have been made to be

Rex

I have been scared all my life.

I have always hidden behind Beau. He was always my ’get out of jail card’ I would use him as the excuse for why I couldn’t do anything. I have never led a haunt, I have never physically fought with anyone in my life. I always saw myself as a loser. The one person that would always be defeated.

Even now, with all that we have been dealt with, I tried to find a way to escape. I was willing to leave my mates to an unknown fate, so I didn’t have to be in the fight.

I will always be a coward.

I will always be scared but I want to do something—anything. I want to contribute to this fight. I want to feel among for once in my life. It is easy to let Darrien just do it but I also want to. I want to prove that I am more than the omega that is fated to be a coward.

I am more than our ancestors have made me out to be.

I want to do this.

"If you are going to do this, I suggest you get on with it,’’ Darrien coughs out impatiently.

I understand that there is no time for this dilly-dallying that I am doing but my nerves are all over the place. I don’t know how I am going to do this but it is all I want to do, the only thing that will make me feel good about all that has happened.

"Okay,’’ I take a deep breath as I reach for her. She is dressed in a white gown and her hair is flowing down her shoulders.

"Just rip out her heart, that is the best way to do this,’’ he suggests.

I will help. Bring me out.

My wolf tells me and instantly I feel my claws come out of my finger. The pain is not as much as it would be if I fully transforms. Darrien is watching me, I can feel his gaze on me. He is not sure if I can do this but I know I can.

"Come on, we have five minutes left. There is no time again." He pushes me. The pressure doesn’t help but I do what I need to do as I reach for her chest.

"So it is easy, all you have to do is dig in and then bore into her chest. Come on." he urges me impatiently. I follow his instructions but my hand still shakes. I feel her skin as I press into it with my claws, the sounds make my skin crawl. Blood splatters out of her chest. A dead person is not supposed to have blood. I have been treating her as a dead person but she is alive and still breathing. In an instant, her eyes open.

I jolt away from her and my hand falls to my sides. "Shit,’’ I exclaim as blood starts to gush out of her.

"Finish what you started,’’ he yells at me.

Her eyes are still open but she is not moving. She is just staring up at the ceiling. My legs tremble as I try to walk over to her again but I can’t move.

"Come on Rex, if you don’t do it, I will have to on my own.’’

He sounds like he wants me to do this but I am so scared. I suddenly feel this wave of insecurity that I have been trying to push away. "Do it now, rip it out,’’ he tells me as I succeed in taking more steps to her.

I have to psyche myself up for it but I am back on her again and this time, I want it to be done fast. My hand pushes into her and this time, I feel everything. All the anger that I have felt since we came here. All the anger that I have held. From my parent’s death to growing up, everything comes rushing in.

I don’t even see anything as I feel her heart, as it beats against the tips of my fingers. The fear that has been pulling me down completely vanishes as I pull out her heart. My hands clutch it tightly. Somehow I don’t want to let go of it. My breath is ragged, sweat trickles down my face as I hold on to her heart.

"Done, look at her,’’ he comments and my eyes find their way to her body.

Her skin is paler than it was a second ago. Her eyes are still open but white. She looks dead. This is how she was supposed to look when we opened the coffin.

"I did it?’’

He smiles. This is the first time I have seen a genuine smile from him since he came to pick me up. He looks at me like he is proud. It makes me feel happy.

I did this.

Yeah, I know it wasn’t a big deal. She wasn’t fighting. All I had to do was bring her heart out.

"Yeah you did," his eyes shift to my hand "Now you can let go of it,’’ he tells me as he looks at her heart in my grip.

"I don’t want to. I am scared that it wouldn’t have worked."

He chuckles "Trust me, Amber is a lot of things but she wouldn’t lie to me,’’ he walks over to me and I let go of her heart. This amazing organ that Analise has used for evil. This part of her that is supposed to be used to love.

She became a monster that locked it up.

"Come on, we have a minute left.’ He tells me as we walk out of the mausoleum. The cold air hits me immediately. My hand is still covered in blood but this feels like a victory to me. This feels like a win that I didn’t think we will have.

"Let’s go find your mates,’’ he tells me with a smile on his face.

I look up at the sky and return his smile.
