Chapter 596: Treason

Rex

She is quick to come to the stage but this time, she is back in her mask. Back as the person that she really isn’t.

Badger.

The man that she murdered for her own satisfaction. The man I love came from this woman. He is nothing like her. He will never be like her. I don’t even know what he is going through knowing that this is his mother. This must be painful for him. She has hurt him, time and time again. She keeps hurting her child and I can’t even understand it.

"I am sure you are all wondering why I called this meeting this early in the morning,’’ she shouts to the crowd. There is a smile on her face. This is nothing but enjoyable to her. I can’t stop looking at my mates and the suffering that they are going through.

The fact that she is so happy just lets me know that she doesn’t know about the mausoleum. She doesn’t know what we did which in turn is a good thing.

The people in the crowd start to murmur. Some are confused, others are in the loop from the things I hear. Some people must support her. I mean that is why they have stayed in this place for so long. That is why she thinks she has the upper hand.

"You all see the people I have up here,’’ she gestures with her hands towards my mates. I hold my breath in my lungs. My heart is racing uncontrollably from the fear of what she might do or say next. "You all witnessed the dinner I held for our late chief’s son. You all saw how welcoming I tried to be,’’ she adds calmly.

These are all lies but they must think she is such a saint.

Hell, she is not even who she really is so how can they even see her. How can they believe anyone but her right now? these people are supposed to have magic. they are supposed to be able to see when someone is lying but she has kept them out of the loop for so long that they will see whatever she wants them to see.

"Blue will never be one of us. The fact that he has the Lycan blood inside him will never give him the chance to fully experience his magic side. He will never accept us for as long as he is alive.’’

More people start to murmur. I know they can already tell what is about to happen. She is making it obvious. Clearly, she wants him dead and this is her way to execute him in front of everyone.

How can someone even want to do this to her child?

It makes no sense to me.

I don’t know what they are thinking but I have never seen the crowd react like this before. the murmuring gets louder and this should be the part where they object to what she is saying.

Death should be the last thing.

I look at my mates on the stage. My heart is out there with them. I want to just reach out and take them from this hell that they are subjected to.

"They don’t belong in the coven. Killing him is not the answer,’’ someone finally speaks up.

I turn to the person and I am not the only person that is looking at the person responsible for that comment. A man, who looks to be in his thirties. I wouldn’t know who he is. My eyes meet Darrien’s. He looks at me and nods his head. We don’t have to focus on what is going on right now because we have a plan.

"So, what do you suggest I do. I am sure you were present at the dinner I held for him last night?’’

The man nods his head "We banish him from he coven. Make sure he is never allowed back here again."

There is still a smile on her face. this is all exciting to her. She likes the attention. the control.

"He is not what he seems. He is here to destroy us and we will be the ones to suffer if we let him go."

This is all exciting to them all. Having someone’s life in your hands.

My eyes stay on Darrien because I need to know when we are going to end this party. he is supposed to signal me and then we come out one by one. The people that know the truth. the people that are against Analise and her reign.

"We have no other choice but to kill him. you all witnessed him attack me. He tried to kill me but he was no match for me. He is weak and weak people do not survive in the coven. Eliminating him is the best thing to do. We can’t take the risk of him coming back, I won’t give him the chance to do that.’’

"Then lock him up, keep him in the cells. Killing him is savagery and we are not savages."

The same man speaks up, this time louder than the first time. I don’t know who he is but it seems like he is on our side. We need more people like him on our side. We need as many people as we can get.

"I need to teach him a lesson and any other people that think they can act anyway and get away with it,’’ Analise shouts back to the man.

He looks around the crowd, I can see him searching for others to back him up but like I said before, the people here are cowards. No one wants to stand up to her. They are scared of the power that Badger—or rather Analise holds and they are not willing to be part of that fight.

"Where are the elders in this decision. We need to hear from them.’’

Badger walks over to the voice. I watch him as he gets off the stage and walks over the three steps until he is in front of the man. He smiles evilly as he stares at him intensely.

"You seem to be on their side. Are you for the coven or against it?’’ he asks calmly.

He is basically saying that because the man has his own opinion, he is against the coven.

"I am for the coven,’’ the man answers just as coldly as Badger. There is no fear in his eyes. He is not afraid to stand up for himself.

"Then all you have to do is pay attention. There is no questioning what is going to happen. This is a lesson for everyone. Anyone that has anything to say will be considered an enemy. Are you an enemy?’’

The man shakes his head.

"Good, now learn a thing or to from this.’’

I look up at Darrien and he nods his head just as Badger climbs up the little stairs to the stage "This is a lesson for you all. Watch and take note. The punishment for treason is death."

My eyes move to Major and he smiles slowly "Show us who you really are?’’ he speaks loudly so suddenly that everyone in the crowd starts to look for the voice.

I watch him as he disperses from the crowd away from me until he is in front of the crowd.

Badger opens his eyes in shock and I see the look in his eyes.

Okay, I guess this is it.

Chapter 597: No going back

Rex

Major wasn’t supposed to start.

He was supposed to come in later. There is always a part of the plan that goes south and it seems like it is the beginning of our plan. I was supposed to be the one to come forth. Analise didn’t know that I was still here. In her mind, I had gone. I was supposed to try to get the others in the coven to believe that the elders were dead.

We just wanted to show them the real Analise but now that Major is the one that spoke up, he is going to have to convince them.

That shock on Badger’s face wipes off as quick as it came. There is no way in hell that she didn’t expect this.

There is no way she doesn’t know that she has enemies, with all the things that she has done in her life. It is to be expected. I am so sure that she lives for this kind of danger.

Major takes off the glasses and removes his cap. Her smile widens when she recognizes him.

"Oh my, would you look at that,’’ she comes off the stage again and this time, she stops in front of him.

The smile on her face sickens me. Where is she getting this amount of joy from? How can she be so fucking happy right now? My mates are tied up and in pain. Her own fucking child.

This doesn’t even make any sense.

"Major in the flesh,’’ she adds in excitement. "You have been in hiding for so long. What brings you here?’’ she asks.

Her eyes move away from him and to the crowd "This is someone that abandoned the coven. Major the coward,’’ she grimaces. I almost believe her if I didn’t already know the truth.

Major had to leave for his safety. He ended up being the scapegoat after everything that happened. He needed to leave. He is far from a coward but as usual, she is manipulating all these people.

"I am the coward?" he asks her in disbelief "Why don’t you show these people the real you, so they know who the real coward is.’’ he walks away from her and faces the crowd.

"Do you people know the person you have put your trust in. Do you think he is who he says he is?’’

"What are you talking about boy?’’ another man asks. Unlike the man that spoke up before. This one seems to be on Analise’s side. The scowl on his face tells me everything I need to know.

They are blind to it all and it will take a lot of convincing to get them out of their asses.

"The man you put in charge is dead.’’

I hear a lot of gasps in the crowd, a lot of murmuring. They might all be in support of her but they are doing it blindly. They don’t know what the hell they are all agreeing to and this is the time to put a stop to it.

"If I am dead, why am I standing here right now?’’ Badger asks calmly.

He is being very receptive. Almost seems like she wants major to make a fool of himself. I mean that is her plan and it seems to be working. They are all looking at him like he is out of his mind.

"You might have everyone fooled here but I see you, I know who you are and I am going to prove it to them all. I am going to make sure that they see the truth."

He smiles courageously. Major came into this wholeheartedly. I know that deep down, he didn’t want to be stuck in whatever basement he was hiding in. He seemed to think that Analise was looking for him and all the other people that left the coven but from the way things are now, it seems like she didn’t see him as a worthy opponent. She has lived her life so fearless and it saddens me.

"Why don’t you prove it then. Show them what you think I am,’’ she challenges him.

I watch him as I wait to see what he has up his sleeve. We all wait in silence for a couple of seconds with Analise watching him intently. After a couple of seconds, she starts to laugh. Her laugh is different from how it would be. The real one.

"You have nothing, I am glad you came. I am glad you made finding you easier than I thought it would be." She turns to the crowd "People when I talk about treason, Major is the first person that comes to my mind. He betrayed the coven and he should be dealt the same fate as Blue and his partner. He should suffer by the fire."

Before she even completes her sentence. A couple of people on the stage run over to her and grab Major by his arms.

"You will watch them die and then the same thing will happen to you,’’ she tells him even though that is not something that she needs to say.

How vile could one person be?

How wicked.

"Now, let us get the show on the road,’’ she waves her hands in the air and I watch as one of the other guards walks over to the pole that Blue is on. He is awake but it looks like he is barely conscious. She intentionally kept him weak, so he would be unable to fight back.

The guard grabs the torch and I watch him light it up.

My heart is racing because, at this point, I don’t know what to do.

Use me.

Use me to get them out of this. use me now.

My wolf is not asking me. He is ordering me to change. I feel my bones start to crackle. I feel my body changing and it feels like I don’t have a say in it. My wolf is angry. It can’t watch them get hurt any longer and there is nothing I can do as a loud howl escapes my mouth as I turn.

There is no going back, even though this was not part of the plan.

Chapter 598: The end is near

fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Gyles

The minute I see Rex transform, I do the same thing but unlike him, mine is controlled. All the anger I have felt resurfaces as I channel my wolf to react. Being tied up all night is not such a great thing and for the first time in hours, I feel free as I rip the ropes off of me.

The corner of my eyes dart to Blue, I just need to make sure that the guards are away from him as I spring off the stage.

My wolf comes out immediately, there is a feeling that I haven’t felt in a long time. The one that makes me feel like I can take on the world as I come closer to Rex’s wolf. His wolf is smaller than mine but the strength it harnesses at this moment is all I can focus on. I howl into the morning sun as I turn back to Analise. She seems to be taken aback as I see her in a corner of the stage.

Her hands are out in the air and she is aiming for me. I don’t want to give her the opportunity to attack me, I have to be the one to take the lead. I want her dead and that is all my wolf seems to be focused on.

Do not kill her until everyone sees the real her. We need to make sure that they see her for who she is.

Rex sends me a mind link instantly.

I don’t know how he plans to do that but my wolf has decided to take over and I completely giving him control to end all this shit.

I am in front of her on all four in less than a second. In an attempt to grab her but she jumps away from us so fast that I have to follow her. A lot of the people in the crowd seem to have dispersed from the sight in front of them but the ones that haven’t are all watching as this unfolds. Rex is by the guards that were about to light the stick. The ones that thought it was a good idea to burn us at the stake. These people are not even good people and I don’t care. I follow Alanis with as much of my might to the point where it becomes a tug of war game. Light comes out of her hands as she tries to hit me but every time she tries, somehow, I dodge her.

My wolf is stronger than ever and I am finally able to control my body and turn it. I have never felt this much anger in all my life as I grip unto her finally, biting her arm with one swing. She is on the ground beneath me as I hear the gasps of the crowd. Rex has the guards under him. Now everyone is staring at us. Suddenly we are the ones that they are watching,

"Stop what you are doing. That is our chief,’’ one woman shouts. There are tears in her eyes.

To them, we are just monsters. Monsters like she has made us be and this just proves it.

"You have the wrong person. This is not how it was supposed to go." Major speaks up suddenly.

I turn to him even though I am still clutching Analise’s arm roughly. Blood is draining into my mouth but I don’t care. I want to kill her. I want her dead,

Rex is watching him too and I watch as Blue opens his eyes slowly and there is a mix of emotions on his face. The most dominant one is confusion. He doesn’t know what is going on and I see it in his eyes.

I don’t even know why Major is stopping me right now.

"Major, just get down. Let this all end already,’’ I turn to the person that just spoke. It is a woman, it looks like his mother. There are tears in her eyes. She is one of the few people that stayed.

"Mom, I will prove to you all that she is a liar. Analise never died. She has deceived you all for too long." he shouts to the crowd in anger.

I watch him as he walks over to Blue and slowly unties him. His hands stay on my mate as he tries to get him to stay "This is almost over. I am sorry I didn’t come with you when you asked me to,’’ he manages.

His voice is low but I can hear him clearly. Maybe it is because all my focus is on him.

"Mom, dad, everyone that is present here. I need to show you something. I need you all to see the real person you have given all this control to. I need you to see the truth."

Blue manages to stay on his feet as Major walks over to me. "You can let her go,’’ he tells me calmly.

I shouldn’t trust him because right now is not the time to trust anyone but I actually do--in this moment. He seems so genuine and there is nothing stopping me.

Slowly, my wolf detaches from her and I take a step away as she falls to the ground in shudders. She is on her knees as we stand over her. It is a sight to behold. I watch Major as he gets on the same level as her.

"It is over Analise," he mutters.

There is still a smile on her face even as she faces death. Maybe it is because she doesn’t think death is final.

Maybe it is because of all the times that she has died.

"This is your end,’’ he rests his hand on her forehead and I see a bright light as it emanates from him unto her.

I watch as she slowly starts to scream and for the first time, I hear her voice. The real Analise and not the mask that she has been hiding behind. I look around the crowd to see if they can see the same things that I am seeing and all the shock on their faces let me know.

The truth is out and now we can finally be free.

Chapter 599: A good leader

Rex

Everyone is staring at the sight.

The shock is evident on their faces. I know what this means to all of us here. I know how much this will help us to win this fight.

Analise is on the ground and there is an evil smile on her face. She is enjoying this a little too much and it is scaring me. It is almost like she doesn’t care that she was caught. Like she knew that this was something that was bound to happen.

No one knows what to say. Everyone is so shocked that they are all speechless.

The only people that don’t have that shocked look on their faces are all of us. We knew who she was, we have always known and maybe I should have given Major the benefit of doubt before I attacked but I couldn’t take the risk of any of my mates getting hurt.

"You all see what I have been saying. I was set up, she made you all think that I was the bad guy," he raises his hands again and I look up as the light that usually comes from him surfaces to the air in form of a screen.

For a second, I don’t see the purpose of what he is doing until I recognize the place that he is showing us. The room. The reason we are in the coven in the first place. Gyles bright us back here because he needed to make things right. He needed to help the people in the book and now, the root of our problem is Analise. Now we know and somehow, it seems like Major knows too.

Somehow, he found out the one thing that we were all so focused on.

I watch the scene as it plays out. Analise looks younger. This must be a memory that happened so many years ago. I watch her and the other man—one of the guards that are on stage right now as they do something so despicable to a little child.

"They say the blood of a child gives you more power,’’ Analise’s voice from the video calls out to the other man. My eyes dart to the man and there is a flash of recognition on his face. He remembers this.

His cheeks are red and guilt is all I feel from his emotions.

He is guilty of whatever they are about to do.

"I want you all to see the kind of person you put in charge, I want you all to see the monster you have fully believed in for so long.’’

This is something that no one could possibly watch with full attention. I don’t even want to look anymore. I know what kind of person she is so why would I watch her murder a child—for fucks sake.

The moment the man grabs a knife, I turn away. The only thing I hear are the sounds of the girls’ cries. I know what she is going to do, I know what is going to happen and from the gasps of the crowd, now they know too.

Once the memory stop, I look up again. Major is in front of the light now and he is the only one I can focus on at the moment. Thinking about it, he will make a good leader. He would be a better chief than all the people in the coven.

"She killed the elders, she has killed so many people. She has used their bodies as a mask to keep on deceiving you all for so long. Analise is the person that should be executed. She is the person that should be burnt to the stake." His voice is firm and cold. There is no pity in his words and I one hundred percent stand with him.

Everyone starts to murmur in agreement.

"How do we know this is not another lie fabricated by you to make her out to be the monster.’’

Someone from the crowd speaks up. I turn to the person immediately in shock that they would still try to defend her. There might be magic to make things look different from how they are but Major would never go that far, and if they have doubt in their minds, then they are the problem.

I am still in my wolf form and so is Gyles. I don’t think this is the best time for us to even turn back to our human form. She might try something, she might try to escape. This would not be the first time she would be one step ahead of us. She has always been a step ahead and I don’t even expect any less from her but the difference between this time and all the other times is the fact that we are also one step ahead of her.

Killing her real form just means it is only her soul that is in this body, and once this body is killed, the rest of her will die. The parts that she has used to torment the people in this town.

I can’t wait to see the life leave her eyes. I want her to feel the same pain that everyone she has hurt felt and more.

"You can choose to believe what you want to but why hasn’t anyone seen any of the elders outside in the open. Haven’t you all had questions?’’ his eyes stay fixed on the man that blurted out nonsense. I watch the two of them, I’m curious about the next thing that he is going to say.

"We would eventually be killing our chief. No matter what, she is still our chief.’’

He says it like it means shit.

"She was going to execute her son, why do you feel pity for her--or should I say, respect?’’ he raises a brow.

I watch as the man looks away at that question. If he had any sense, he would shut up already.

"Because you can’t kill me,’’ Analise manages with an evil smile.

"Tie her up,’’ Major tells one of the guards. A very dominating look on his face. I watch as the man rushes to Analise’s side and picks her up immediately.

I watch as he ties her up.

"Does anyone else have any objections to this decision?’’ he asks the crowd one last time.

I hold my breath as I wait.

No one says a word.

Chapter 600: The finality of death

Blue

I watch Major tie her up and I don’t know how I feel about it. Rex assured me that they have fixed her immortality and I completely trust him but this means that once she is killed, she is not coming back.

So this is goodbye.

Like for real.

"You know, I always knew I should have gotten ridden of you when you were still a child. I always knew you would become a problem," The smile is still plastered to her face.

I shouldn’t care about this moment because this is the woman that I have wanted to kill for so long. The only emotion I have for her is hate. I hate her so much that seeing her on the wooden pole, tied up, should make me happy but at this moment, it doesn’t. I feel sadness and another confusing emotion that I don’t understand.

I want this to happen.

It has to happen and I am happy that we are here, finally at a point in our life where there is the possibility of freedom.

So why do I feel sad?

All the pain that she has caused me. I am in pain right now and it feels like as long as she is alive, I will always feel a pain that only she can bring. That she is giving me right now.

Its time.

My wolf tells me calmly. I hear him completely but I don’t know if I actually want to watch her burn at the stake. I don’t think it is something that I would want.

I take a step towards her and Major moves away for me. He must know how I feel and this is his way of telling me to say my final goodbyes. I thought her death was going to be one that would come with a fight. I imagined so much from this moment but she is here, not even putting up a fight and staring at me in the face.

"My own son would be the one to kill me. Who would have ever thought,’’ she smiles warmly as the words leave her lips? She doesn’t actually think that she is going to die. I can see the look in her eyes.

The immortality that she has possessed for so long is getting to her head. Making her think that she is indestructible.

"Why couldn’t you just be a good person? Why did you have to hurt all those people?’’ I ask her, my voice trembles as the questions come spewing out. This should be an easy feat. The playback that major showed us should make me want to watch her demise but at the same time, something in me is haunting me.

"Good person? Do you think that you are a good person?’’ she asks me.

I remain silent.

"I lived my life for MY happiness. No one is and ever will be more important to me than me and all I ever wanted was power. The power that I didn’t get from becoming a mother, power that I didn’t get from becoming the chief. You would never understand because you are weak and weak people always end up suffering.’’

Her eyes are red. There is so much hate in her words. Hate that I have always felt all my life. I never got love from my mother. I never expected it from her but I was always there for her. I always accepted her, even though I knew she never actually loved me. Her words now only confirm it.

She doesn’t care about me, so why should I care about her.

"You think you are going to have another shot at life. You think you have protected yourself so well but oh boy, you are wrong."

For the first time since she got tied up, I smile at her. I don’t know what she did to keep herself from dying but the flash in her eyes tells me that she knows that something is wrong.

"What have you done?’’ she asks me and suddenly, the smile is gone from her face. The fear replaces it.

"The one thing that was needed. You need to die, and this time, for good.’’ I tell her as I walk over to one of the guards and he hands me the torch that is already lit. I feel the heat as I grab it. It has to be me, I have to be the one to do this. That is the only way that I can finally get closure from everything that has happened.

I need to do this.

"Son, baby, please don’t do this." She starts to shake, I watch her as she tries to untie herself. The ropes are too strong, I can see the burns on her wrists. Unlike me and my mates, she is human and she has been forgetting that for so long. She might have been using magic and it has been making her feel invincible.

Now, she knows that this is the end and the look on her face just says it all.

"Please Blue, do not do this to me. You will regret it. I am your mother for God’s sake."

"You haven’t been my mother for a long time. For the coven, for all the people that you have hurt, this has to happen."

Her eyes remain fixed on me as I set the fire free. There is no hesitation in me as I watch her as she starts to scream. I don’t take a step away, I want to be close. I want to feel her pain.

I feel footsteps but I don’t turn around. I don’t look away but I feel their presence as she continues to cry. My mates are next to me—in their wolf form but all I can feel is them. They are what I need to be able to handle this and I didn’t even know until this moment.

The graphic display of her skin peeling away is the last thing I see as she utters her last cries.

My mother is dead.

Finally, this is over.
