Ch. 641..645: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 641-645
Chapter 641: A different kind of worry.
Alanis
Four years later.
"Papa,’’ Colm runs over to me. his eyes are blotched and red. My mommy instincts kick in immediately. I don’t know what happened but I am ready to murder someone.
Colm and Colin are six already. I can’t believe it has been six years already.
I see the blood on his shirt and I start to worry even though I know that he will heal. They are still young and growing, so healing isn’t as fast as it is with me. it is different with them and I have come to learn that. I already know that whatever it is that happened must have been serious.
Colm rarely cries.
If this was colin, I wouldn’t be too worried because he is an emotional soul and that is the only way he can express himself.
"What happened,’’ I go down to his level as he shows me the bruise on his elbow. At first, this confuses me because I didn’t get a call from their school so I don’t know how they let this slide "Who did this to you?’’ I add because my heart already feels too heavy at this moment.
It is just a bruise that will heal in a couple of hours. I shouldn’t be this upset right now and I don’t even need to show him how I feel.
"I can’t say,’’ he starts to wipe his tears from his face as Colin walks into the room with both their bags. Rex walks in behind him and I grab Colm off the floor.
"What happened?’’ I ask him because he needs to explain to me what this is.
"He wouldn’t tell me and when I tried to talk to his teacher, he begged me not to,’’ Rex answers walking over to me.
I furrow my brows in confusion "He is bleeding, you don’t listen to him when he is bleeding.’’
"He kept screaming and begging me not to do anything. what did you expect me to do?" he shrugs nonchalantly.
This is my son.
My child is bleeding and all he can do is fucking shrug at me. I get that he helped me pick him up but this is insane "Papa, please don’t do anything. it will only make things worse."
"You have to tell Papa who did this to you. Someone hurt you and I need to know.’’ I tell him calmly. I don’t want to scare him and most days, they have to remind me that they are not babies anymore. I get that but they will always be my babies.
"It will heal. See it looks like it is already fading,’’ he tries to smile but his eyes are so red that all I can see are the tears he has been shedding.
"You have to tell me Colm, you know I hate it when you keep things from me,’’ I try to keep a stern expression on my face but all I can muster up is worry.
It seems like someone hurt him and he is too scared to tell me who it is.
I need to know so that I can make things better.
He looks away from me and I can tell I am not going to get anything from him. Colm is stubborn. I see Beau in him.
He is so much like my husband that it is uncanny.
"Go on into your room, I will be there in a second,’’ I tell him, slowly dropping him back to his feet. He sniffs out as he walks in the direction of their room and I turn to Colin "Hi baby,’’ I walk over to him as Rex takes a step back.
"Gotta go,’’ he waves as he walks out of the house. I don’t say anything to him because I want to get to the bottom of this.
I don’t know what happened but I need to know.
"Hi dad,’’ he manages softly.
"Do you want to tell me what happened in school today?’’ I question.
Colin is smart.
He is so smart that sometimes, it scares me. what he lacks in social skills, he gains in his brain. Most days, I can’t even talk him into doing what I want. I don’t know if he will give in today.
"Colm fought during recess,’’ he shrugs, easily giving me the information, I wanted.
I don’t know why he is telling me but he doesn’t seem to care.
"Why?’’
He shrugs again.
"Can I go freshen up? I am hungry,’’ he goes straight to the point. He doesn’t beat around the bush. He doesn’t have the time to dilly dally. Beau is at a meeting with the neighboring packs. He wouldn’t be back until the weekend.
"Yeah, go on to your room. I will make something for you both to eat in a second." I tell him and he doesn’t even look at me as he walks in the direction of the room.
I go into the kitchen and I whip up a quick sandwich for them and a glass of blood. They need the blood more than they need tuna and bread but at the same time, I want to give them the chance to enjoy food. They still have the hunger for food. They still enjoy it., so I don’t want to take that experience from them.
My phone rings and I answer it immediately.
It is Beau and his face pops up to the screen "Hey, the kids back from school yet?" he asks.
He was always going to call to see them after they came back. he always calls at this exact time.
For them.
"Yeah, they are in their room.’’
"What is wrong?’’ he deters and I guess my face gave it away. I don’t want to tell him because I am worried that this will cut his trip short and he can’t leave the bi-annual meetings.
This week’s meeting is being held in the green spring community.
He has to be there.
"Nothing’s wrong," I lie.
He scoffs "You know I can tell that something is wrong. So, it’s between you just tell me before I drive home to you right now,’’ he warns me and I know that is not an empty threat.
What I don’t know is if I should actually tell him about this.
Chapter 642: Too much to handle
Alanis
"You don’t have to come back; it is not a big deal and I got it handled."
I can see the expression on his face and I already know that he isn’t even listening to me. The stubborn man that I married is coming to play at this moment.
"What happened to him, let me see him?’’ he demands. His tone is firm. He is upset right now but I know that it is not because of me.
"He is fine. He got into a fight at school,’’ I tell him because that is all I know so far. I am still going to talk to him about it but I don’t want to do it in a way where he will not want to tell me anything anymore.
"Let me talk to him,’’ he urges me.
"I am in the kitchen right now.’’
"Go to his room. I need to make sure that he is okay before I can let this go,’’ he tells me, the worry etched in his voice. I get that he is upset and I think that it is such a cool thing. Beau is a good father. he loves his kids and that is what makes me admire him every day.
"Don’t use that tone with me,’’ I glare at him because, at the end of the day, he can’t just go all macho father on me and expect me to cower to his demands.
I am watching him through the screen and even though I feel his worry, I can’t have him panicking.
"I am sorry baby, please can you take me to him?’’ he asks and this time, his voice is calm. I watch him as he runs his hands through his hair with his free hand. He is outside and the wind seems to be blowing his hair to his face.
"Okay, maybe he would talk to you.’’
Beau is closer to Colin. Colin is his baby. There is just this special bond that they have. Colm on the other hand is for everyone. He is such a social butterfly that everyone loves him.
I walk over to the room and before I enter, I hear Colin talking to him "You should tell papa. He is not going to be upset with you."
I don’t know what he could have possibly done but I just don’t feel like it is that big a deal. they are kissed. He probably just had a fight with a friend.
I open the door because I don’t want to be eavesdropping on them. I want them to be able to talk to us. there is this thing that I never had. Knowing that I could always talk to father. I want things to be different with them. I want them to trust us.
I know they do but I wish he would have at least told me what was wrong—I know there is something wrong.
Colin looks up to me immediately and I can tell that he can sense Beau’s presence "Is that dad?" he asks immediately, his eyes shining like a light.
I smile "Yeah.’’
He walks over to me and I crouch down to him "Hi daddy,’’ he squeals into the phone, the excitement not hidden on his face.
See, I didn’t even get this kind of greeting.
"Hey kiddo,’’ I hear Beau’s voice as he replies to his son. I walk away from them and to Colm. He is avoiding my eyes.
"Come on, you should get that cleaned up,’’ I tell him and he follows me into the bathroom. I grab the first aid kit from the cabinet drawer as I use a cloth to wipe the blood off.
"Why do I have to clean it up when it will just disappear on its own?’’
I look at him as I dress his wound "Because it will take a while and you know that. you shouldn’t be having these kinds of injuries. You don’t want people to notice."
He looks away from me again "Because we are monsters?’’ he asks which catches me off guard.
I always knew that it would be a big risk taking them at such young age to a human school but I didn’t want to keep them hidden and neither did Beau. most of the kids in the community have normal lives. it doesn’t just begin and end in the pack.
"Don’t you ever call yourself that,’’ I grab him by his chin so that he can look at me "You are not a monster?’’
He tries to look away from me and I can see the tears as they well up in his eyes "Okay,’’ he answers, his voice already shaking. Colm likes to act like he is all grown up but he is still a kid.
The door to the bathroom opens and Colin walks into the room with the phone "Dad wants to talk to you,’’ he pushes the phone to his face and I watch him as he takes it from him.
"Hey son,’’ my husband calls out softly.
I watch Colm because it looks like he is about to burst into tears any moment from now.
"Do you want to tell me what happened?’’ he asks through the phone. I wait for him to open up, I wait for him to tell him because I know that he will.
I know that he doesn’t like to keep things. I know that this is eating him up and if there is anyone that can get him to open up. it is Beau.
I listen to his confession and the anger that I thought I wouldn’t have, resurfaces as I hear his story.
As I hear the outrageous things that a friend—or rather a classmate told him.
I listen and even though I have to be the parent in this situation, I can’t help but feel sad at this moment.
Sad that no matter how evolved we think the world is. there will always be people that would just bring it back faster than it moved forward.
Chapter 643: Teach them a lesson
Alanis
"We are pulling him out of that school.’’ Beau is angry and I cannot blame him. I am just as furious as he is "I am fucking coming home right now. I am going to that fucking school first thing in the morning,’’ he adds.
Yup, Beau is angry.
I want to urge him on. I want him to cause a scene. I want him to fucking do something.
I hate that Colm had to go through that.
"Who hurt you son?’’ Beau asks calmly.
His voice is encouraging. Colm looks at him and I see the vulnerability in his eyes. The pain.
"Max,’’ he answers.
Max is a friend.
Or at least I thought he was.
Max is his classmate. He was the first friend that Colm made in school. Maybe they had a fight. It is normal for kids to fight.
"Why did Max do this to you and why did you lie that you fell?’’ he asks him still as calm.
I wait.
I am just standing there like a creep and it feels like I am eavesdropping because he didn’t want to talk to me about this. maybe he felt like I wouldn’t be able to handle the truth.
"He doesn’t want to be my friend anymore.’’
I wait.
"Why?’’
He looks away from the phone and I hear Beau call his name softly. "You have to tell daddy what happened. How will I be able to fight the bad guys if you don’t."
I wait.
"He said I am a monster, he said I would end up just like you and papa. He said I was disgusting.’’
I freeze as the words leave his lips.
What the actual fuck?
"He said his daddy doesn’t want him hanging out with faggots. He doesn’t want us to contaminate him."
I feel like my heart is being ripped out of my chest at this moment. My son is just six. He has lived for only six years on this earth and they found a way to expose him to this hate.
This hate that people act doesn’t exist.
This hate that people like to think is being eliminated. I don’t blame Max. this is not on Max. this is on his parents. the people that brought him to this life. They are the ones that are responsible for the things that their child is spewing. The hate he is passing across.
"You can’t come home, Beau. You have the meeting.’’
"Fuck the meeting. I am coming home,’’ he tells me. there is no convincing otherwise. Especially when it has to do with his kids. Nothing else matters but them.
"Look, just don’t do anything stupid until I get back,’’ he ends the call abruptly and I know that he is just doing that because he needs to get an excuse to leave the place.
I walk into the kitchen and they are both seated and eating. My eyes stay on them, my beautiful babies. The good thing about this situation is the fact that it hasn’t become serious. All I need to do is find a way to fix it so it doesn’t leave permanent damage on my child.
Hate sticks to the mind.
I want to shield them from that.
I wish I could shield them from the world and all its evil but I can’t. I can only try my best to protect them.
Don’t do anything stupid.
Beau warned me before he hung up. he knows what I am capable of and deep down, I know he is coming back home tonight to try to stop me. who is the villain in this story? Max’s father—the person that is supposed to teach him right from wrong.
Who needs to learn a lesson?
Who has the fucking power to do that?
Me?
I grab my phone from the counter and dial Rex’s number. He answers on the first ring "I need you to watch the kids,’’ I don’t ask him. I just demand because I don’t want no.
"Right now?’’ he asks calmly.
I nod.
I would have asked Darrien but he and Jabi are out of town. Jabi gave birth a couple of months ago and this is the first time he has had a break from their daughter.
"Yup, come on. I need to leave.’’ I sigh into the phone. I am impatient and if I delay this for even a second longer, Beau will find a way to convince me not to.
"Uh, okay. I will be there in a couple of minutes.’ He ends the call and I drop the phone on the table. Colm looks up from his food and manages a faint smile. The wound on his hand is already healing from where I am seated.
Blood has a way to do that to them.
It works magic.
"Aren’t you eating with us papa?" he asks as he chews a bit of his sandwich.
I shake my head "Papa is not hungry."
"Why?’’ Colin asks.
"Papa needs to go out," I tell them as I hear the front door of the house open. Rex still has a key and room to the main house even though he has his own house. I hear his footsteps as he walks into the kitchen.
"Is everything okay?’’ he asks worriedly.
I would never leave the kids in the night. Nighttime is the only time I get to spend with them. he knows that something is up but he also knows not to push.
"Yeah, I just need to leave for an hour."
I don’t think I would need more than an hour. I know what I need to do. not a big deal but I need to do it.
"Beau called me, he said he is on his way,’’ he tells me.
I nod.
It would take Beau about two hours to get to the community. I have enough time to do what I need to do.
I have enough time to teach them a lesson.
Chapter 644: For all the people
Alanis
Maybe this is not a good idea but I don’t even care
It has been a while since I did anything crazy and maybe this will be good for me. I am supposed to be the level-headed one but I am angry and I need to let it out somehow. This is the only way that I know how to.
Show them that they shouldn’t mess with my babies.
I park my car in the driveway of the school. I need the information that would lead me to the man that made my boy cry.
I get down from the car and rain starts to pour down suddenly. I should take this as a sign. Right?
Go back home to my kids and listen to Beau.
Don’t do anything stupid.
Is this stupid?
I am not going to kill them. I just want to teach them a lesson. There is a ripple effect that people don’t understand. There are consequences in every action we take. Just a couple of words from a child that shouldn’t actually mean anything. Just those few words that his friend told him could affect him in the way he grows up.
Sometimes, we wonder how villains are made.
We wonder why people are depressed, or hate the things that make them who they are. We wonder but we don’t think about the things that we might have said just passing by.
It might mean nothing to us, it might just be a joke to us.
We don’t think as humans, about the other person. We don’t think about the harsh words we spew out. We don’t raise our children with love. We spread hate so much that we just end up breeding monsters.
Monsters that make more monsters and I need to do my part. I need to stop them before they do more harm.
My phone rings in my back pocket as I walk into the school. It is dark, I am drenched in water from the rain and I don’t care. If I answer his call, I know he will know that something is up. I am pretty sure that Rex has already told him that I went out. It is not hard to figure out that I am about to do something. I am the calm one in our relationship. I don’t like to look for trouble. As long as I am with my family, I am happy.
I don’t plan on killing Max’s father.
Of course not.
But I just want to make him hurt a little bit. He hurt my kid with his hate and he has to feel the pain. I know there is no convincing me. once I make up my mind about something, nothing can stop me until I follow through.
Not even Beau blaring up my phone right now. Beau is my number one priority in my life but my kids are too.
They are all important and that man has to shed as much tears as Colm. He has to hurt just as much.
My phone stops ringing and a message notification pops up immediately. of course, it is from Beau and he is upset. I can tell just from the message.
Beau: pick up your phone Lanis. I am warning you, don’t do anything stupid.
I switch off my phone and put it back in my pocket and go straight to the principal’s office. I have been here a couple of times. I have seen the filing room. The place that has all the records of all the students. That is the only place that will have the address I am looking for.
I go straight to my son’s class and open up the cabinet. It is easy to find what I need and the second I get the address; I close it up and walk out of the school.
Lanis, why are you not answering my calls?
Beau sends me a mind link just as I park my car in front of the house. there is only one light on, which means someone is still awake. It is pretty late; this man is probably not expecting anyone.
I need to do this. I promise I will be home before you.
I answer him because I would hate for him to ignore me the way I have been. I know that I am acting rash right now but I need to do this. nothing can stop me at this moment.
Where the fuck are you and what the fuck do you think you need to do?
His voice is strained. He sounds pissed. I am pissed too but I guess we are for different reasons.
I want to make someone pay. He wants me to stop what I am about to do. I can’t do that.
Just trust me. Don’t worry too much.
I try to assure him but I know that won’t work. He is already worked up; he is already worried and he must have an idea of what I am about to do.
Go home now before you regret it afterward. You are the one that always used to tell me to think before I act. So fucking think.
He is shouting now. trying to get through to me.
I am thinking. That is why I need to do this. just go home and wait for me. Don’t worry.
I cut off my connection with him because if I keep listening to him. I might just give in and I need to do this. I need to do this for Colm, for all the queer people out there. I need to stand up to the bullies. I need to make sure that we all stand strong in this community because it is not wrong.
Love is never wrong and I will not have someone teach others that it is. I will not let him spew out hate and just love freely.
I will change his mindset if I have to.
I will be that change that he needs.
Chapter 645: The conversation
Alanis
The front door is locked when I try to turn the handle over. it is not like I expected it to be open but I am strong enough to open it without leaving too much damage.
All I need to do is turn it over forcefully and that is what I do. I have the powers to convince and manipulate and that is what I am going to do. manipulate him after I am done.
I enter the house and it is dark but I can see clearly. I look up from the front door to the stairs and I see the light that was visible from the window. It is still on and blaring.
That must be the father’s room.
It has to be.
I walk up the stairs and to the room, slowly opening it. there is a man on the bed, he is seated and reading a book with glasses on. There is also a woman asleep. The room is bright, I don’t know how she could be asleep in this brightness.
The man looks up and shock plasters on his face as he drops the book on the bed and jolts up immediately "Who the fuck are you and what are you doing in my house,’’ he reaches for his side table and pulls out a gun from the drawer.
The wife opens her eyes and fear is plastered on her sleepy eyes.
I don’t hesitate. I don’t cower because I am not afraid of a fucking gun.
"Oh, I would think you would recognize a monster when you see one," I take a step closer to him even though he is pointing a gun. I don’t want him to shoot because I don’t want the neighbors to hear. I want to do this stealthily.
I don’t want to cause a scene or raise an alarm.
"What do you want?’’ the woman speaks up. her voice is shaking.
"I just came here to talk. Came here to show you how disgusting I am.’’ I smile. The anger in me is making this even more appealing.
I want to see them cry.
I know some might say that I am treating hate with hate but that is not what this is. I am not about to make them miserable. I am here to educate them.
No matter what it takes.
"What the fuck are you talking about. Who the hell are you?’’ the man shouts, disregarding his wife at this moment.
"Oh, you know me. you know all about my kind." I smile as I take down my hood and show him my face clearly. Suddenly, a flash of recognition swarms his face. he knows who I am.
I have met this man on a couple of open days. We have been in the same space and his dismay had always been evident. I just thought he didn’t like me in general. I didn’t know that he hated that Beau was next to me so proudly.
Now it is all clear.
He wouldn’t want his son to be hanging around people that made him sick to the stomach.
Of course.
If only he had just kept it to himself. if only he had just ignored us like the others in that school that didn’t like our lifestyle.
That would have been better.
I wouldn’t be here right now.
Colm wouldn’t have been so hurt.
The kids could have been friends without any animosity.
"Get out of my house right now or I will shoot you for trespassing,’’ he warns me.
The smile remains on my face "Drop the gun,’’ I tell him, looking directly into his eyes. I watch his pupils dilate and I know what is going to come next. I don’t use my powers that often because I hate controlling people. I hate manipulating people but I need to do this now.
I need to control him.
His hands start to shake and I watch as the gun drops on the floor "There we go, now we can have a conversation," I tell him calmly even though he looks confused "Have a seat won’t you,’’ I add, slowly turning to his wife "You too,’’ I tell her.
They both settle on the bed, out of their control and I take a step towards them "Now, do you know why I am here,’’ I ask.
"What the fuck are you doing to us. Why can’t I fucking move?’’ the man asks.
I smile ignoring him.
"You must know why I am here. It must have taken you a while to coach your son on how to hate.’’
’I don’t know what you are talking about,’’ the man rolls his eyes.
I widen my smile.
"What was that about monsters and disgusting people, does that ring a bell?’’ I walk even closer and pull his face up from his chin so that he can look at me. "You hate me, don’t you?’’
"I don’t even fucking know you.’’
Exactly.
You don’t even fucking know me.
"You hate my kind. Faggots.’’
His eyes open wide and the shock that I can be so direct is evident on his face. "Why are you so surprised, you taught your son that word.’’
His wife looks at him immediately "What is he talking about honey?’’ she asks and I gather that she didn’t know.
"I don’t know. This man is obviously insane."
Oh. I am insane.
"Don’t play with that kid in your class. The one with the two dads. I don’t want to see you with that boy again.’’
I wasn’t there. I don’t know what he said to his son but I know it must be something along those lines. These kinds of people aren’t creative for shit. It is always the same shit.
Being different will always scare them.
Will always make them feel terrified.
He put his fear into an innocent child. I will never blame Max. I will blame the person that is raising him and that is his father.
Always.
