Ch. 421..430
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 421-You Really Came In Natalia was a little embarrassed. She could feel Jenny’s hostility, but she understood. After all, she was still Alec’s girlfriend in name.
“I just came to see you,” Natalia said with a dry smile. She didn’t know why she was there; the whole situation felt absurd.
Annoyed, Jenny walked over to open the door. Looking back at Natalia, she said, “Come in and talk.” Although she didn’t like Natalia much, she hadn’t done anything to her. Besides, it wasn’t nice to make her talk to her at the door.
Natalia didn’t refuse and followed Jenny into the house. Seeing Natalia enter, Jenny tried to intimidate her by saying, “You really came in. Aren’t you afraid that I’ll hurt you?” Natalia was stunned. She hadn’t thought about that. Both Jenny and she were girls; she assumed that Jenny wouldn’t be a threat.
Seeing how unassuming she was, Jenny wondered what Alec liked about her.
Was it her identity or status? Jenny pitied Natalia a little. She walked over and poured Natalia a glass of water.
“Sit,” she said.
Natalia took the water and sat on the sofa but didn’t drink it. Jenny didn’t try to persuade her to drink. It was too late for Natalia to be wary of her now.
“Let’s talk about why you’re here. Is it because of Alec?” Jenny asked, wondering if Alec had treated Natalia poorly.
Natalia didn’t know how to answer at first. Finally, she said, “I just wanted to see what the person he likes looks like.” Jenny was speechless and thought that Natalia had misread Alec’s intentions and that she was not the person Alec liked. “You’re his girlfriend now, so why look at other girls?” Jenny asked.
Natalia smiled, feeling a little embarrassed. “Being his girlfriend doesn’t mean anything. We could break up at any time.” Jenny agreed with Natalia. It had happened between Alec and her. She asked, “So, you had a fight with him?” She couldn’t find any other reason for Natalia’s visit.
Natalia nodded. “That’s right. He wanted to break up, but I didn’t want to, so we fought.” Jenny was surprised that they were about to break up despite only being together two days ago. She felt angry that Alec didn’t take relationships seriously and might have deceived Natalia.
“Why did he want to break up?” she asked, sounding miffed.
*Probably because of the person he likes,” Natalia said, sneakily glancing at Jenny to gauge her reaction.
Jenny’s expression turned ugly at the thought of Quinn being the person Alec liked. She felt angry that he was hurting others, especially someone as innocent as Natalia.
“Are… are you okay?” Natalia asked softly, noticing Jenny’s distress.
“I’m fine.” Jenny shook her head, trying to calm down. “Since he wants to break up, why don’t you just go along with it? Don’t waste your time with that bastard.
There are many good men in this world. It’s a waste of time to hang on to him.”
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 422-Waiting a Little Longer Natalia sensed that things were not as she had expected. Given Jenny’s reaction, she appeared to harbor a strong dislike toward Alec.
“I…I just want to wait a little longer,” Natalia said after a while, feeling that things were spiraling out of control.
“You want to wait?” Jenny frowned, not quite understanding what Natalia meant.
Natalia quickly explained, “My parents also know about my relationship with him. They’ll think it’s my fault if we break up so soon. I don’t want them to think that way, so even if we break up, it shouldn’t happen so quickly.” Jenny listened and began to grasp the situation. Alec and Natalia’s relationship was due to Natalia’s social status, and both families had met each other.
“But he insists on breaking up, and you can’t stop him,” Jenny said calmly.
Natalia nodded and responded dejectedly, “His father initially supported my relationship with him, but now it seems he can’t do anything about it, so Alec wants to break up with me.” She thought Jenny was kind and decided to be truthful with her.
“His father?” Jenny appeared bewildered to hear that.
Observing her confusion, Natalia was also taken aback. “Alec’s father, you… didn’t know?” “His father!” Jenny stood up suddenly, her eyes filled with disbelief.
Alec’s father had returned? When did he come back? And how could Alec heed his father’s instructions? Wasn’t he supposed to be an adversary?
Things seemed to be different from what Jenny had believed. Could it be that Alec had deceived her about everything before? Perhaps his mother hadn’t taken her own life, and his father hadn’t left with another woman.
Natalia was scared by her reaction and reached out to tug at Jenny’s wrist. “Are you okay? You didn’t know about his father?” “No.” Jenny sat back down, feeling cold inside. How many things had Alec kept from her?
“He wanted me to marry him, but Alec seemed reluctant.” Natalia hinted that Alec had feelings for Jenny and wanted to marry Jenny. However, she had no idea that Quinn had come between Jenny and Alec. With Quinn still in the picture, Alec’s actions didn’t matter to Jenny.
After calming herself down, Jenny asked, “Did you come here just to tell me this?” “Maybe he still likes you, but his father made him break up with you.” Natalia decided to tell the truth to avoid further misunderstandings.
Jenny laughed. “You’re overthinking it. For someone like Alec, no one can force him to do something he doesn’t want to do.” It was more so for his father, whom Alec perceived as his enemy.
Natalia tried to say more, but Jenny cut her off. “I broke up with him, and you’re his girlfriend. It’s none of my business how you two get along.” “But what if I break up with him? Wouldn’t you want to get back with him?” She was beginning to feel worried for Alec.
Jenny sneered and replied, “I wouldn’t date a liar.”
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 423-So You Agree?
Alec was busy at the Faust Group when Natalia arrived. Frowning, he asked, “What are you doing here?” He didn’t want to be seen with Natalia by the media as they were about to break up, and he didn’t want to give them any reason to speculate.
Natalia was embarrassed but decided to talk to Alec after witnessing Jenny’s behavior toward her earlier that night.
“Are you still busy?” she asked as she approached him.
Alec was not in the mood to entertain her and asked, “What’s the matter?” He viewed their relationship as strictly business, so he didn’t see any need to be polite.
Nonetheless, Natalia smiled and asked, “After we break up, are you going to make up with Jenny?” Alec’s expression changed suddenly, and he glared at her. “Have you been spying on me?” Natalia chuckled nervously. “Do I need to spy on you? Your breakup with Jenny is common knowledge.” Alec didn’t understand why Natalia was concerned about the topic and said, “What does that have to do with you? If you’re ready, we can announce our breakup tomorrow.” If he hadn’t promised her to wait for three days, Alec wouldn’t have even waited for a moment longer.
“Well, that may be possible.” Natalia agreed, feeling it would be better to break up sooner rather than later. If Alec’s relationship with Jenny was ruined by the delayed breakup, she would feel extremely guilty.
Alec was surprised and asked, “So you agree?” Natalia replied, “Why not? I thought we could wait a few more days to tell my parents, but nothing will change.” Sooner or later, she would have to face the music.
Alec’s expression improved, and he said, “Okay, we’ll announce it tomorrow. So, why did you change your mind?” He had promised to wait another three days, so Natalia agreeing to announce their breakup the next day was strange.
Natalia bit her lip, unsure whether to speak or not.
Alec noticed her confusion and asked sharply, “What’s the reason?” Natalia hesitated before confessing, “Actually, I went to see Jenny before coming here.” She avoided eye contact as she spoke.
Alec stood up angrily, confronting her. “You went to find her? Why? What did you tell her?” “I just told her that we are breaking up and that you got together with me because you had no choice,” Natalia explained quickly.
Alec’s expression turned cold, and his voice became icy. “So, you told her about my father?” Natalia nodded, not understanding why both Alec and Jenny acted so weirdly about his father” Was I not supposed to?” Alec was angry. “That is my business. Who gave you permission to tell her about it?” Alec could only imagine how upset Jenny was. He hadn’t told her his father had returned, so she might think he was lying again.
He felt an oncoming headache. He and Jenny had misunderstandings because of Quinn, and now Mortimer was added to the equation. How could he explain everything to her?
He thought he wouldn’t need to tell her about Mortimer after getting rid of him, but now, it seemed unavoidable.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 424-At Fault Natalia was scared by Alec’s angry expression and said, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll go first. Bye!” She hurriedly left, fearing Alec might harm her if she walked slowly. Though unsure of what had happened, Natalia sensed she had said something wrong and left quickly.
Alec was left standing with a headache. Without time to think, he drove to Perry Residence. He wanted to explain to Jenny before the news of their breakup went public tomorrow. Upon reaching Jenny’s door at midnight, Alec knocked, feeling that explaining clearly would prevent any misunderstandings from escalating.
Jenny was already asleep and unhappy to be woken up by Alec. When she opened the door, Alec started to say, “Jenny-” “Mr. Faust, can you check the time? Have you considered that you might be disturbing someone?” She thought Alec was being extremely selfish for not considering her feelings.
Alec noticed her sleepy eyes and apologized, “I’m sorry, I just wanted to explain to you-” “Explain what?” Jenny cut him off, leaning on the door frame, finding the whole situation ridiculous. Since he rushed over after Natalia had visited her, Jenny knew what he wanted to explain, but she didn’t care and thought Alec’s actions were irrelevant.
Alec explained, “I wasn’t trying to keep you in the dark about my father.” Jenny’s indifference and silence made him uncomfortable. “I didn’t think there was a need for you to know about the existence of a person like him. I wanted to tell you after I dealt with him, however…” However, Natalia had blabbered about him to Jenny.
Jenny remained indifferent to his explanation. “Why are you explaining so much to me? We’ve broken up for a long time. What does your father have to do with me?” “I didn’t want to break up with you, Jenny,” Alec tried to explain. “But the situation at that time-” “I don’t care what the situation was,” Jenny stopped him, looking him in the eye.
“I only know that we’ve broken up.” “Does it not matter that I had absolutely no choice?” Her words jabbed at his heart. He had broken up with her for her safety, and hearing her dismiss it hurt him deeply.
“Nope, all that matters is that we’ve broken up,” Jenny answered.
“I’ll announce my breakup with Natalia tomorrow,” Alec said, hoping to salvage the situation.
Jenny’s mood worsened upon hearing that. “Mr. Faust, you be careful of bad karma that comes with not taking people’s feelings seriously,” she warned him, thinking that he was a scumbag for hurriedly wanting to breakup with Natalia when they had only started dating a few days ago.
Alec laughed. He didn’t take people’s feelings seriously? If that were the case, why was he standing at her door? At that moment, he felt that Jenny didn’t understand him one bit and had never believed in him.
When their eyes met, they could see the disappointment in each other’s eyes.
Jenny didn’t understand why Alec would be disappointed in her. He was the one at fault!
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 425-What Did He Understand?
“What kind of person am I to you?” Alec asked Jenny. His tone was calm, without anger or emotion.
Jenny’s brows furrowed. After a moment of thought, she answered, “You’re just a big fat liar!” She saw Alec’s face turn pale, likely hurt by her words. But could he really blame her? He had told her many lies.
“Okay, I understand.” Alec sighed, nodding lightly. He turned and left.
What did he understand?
Jenny didn’t chase after him to ask what he knew. She just stood there and watched him disappear. For some reason, she felt a trace of pain in her heart.
She didn’t know how long he had been gone before she closed the door and returned to bed. However, she couldn’t sleep a wink.
Christopher anxiously awaited Jenny’s arrival at Parrington Airport as the boarding time drew near. He worried that she had changed her mind about going to Bardoff City. Even if she didn’t want to know about things related to herself, she still needed to help the Walkers, right?
Just as he was about to make a call, Jenny called him.
“Are you coming? The plane is about to take off,” Christopher hurriedly asked.
Jenny didn’t answer. Christopher began to panic until he felt a light tap on his shoulder. He turned to see that it was Jenny, but he almost didn’t recognize her because she was wearing sunglasses, “What’s…what’s with these?” Christopher pointed to her sunglasses, a little puzzled.
Jenny shook her head. “It’s nothing, the sun is bright, so I decided to cover my eyes.” Looking at the cloudy skies, Christopher thought she should look for a better excuse.
“Didn’t you say the plane is about to take off? Let’s go.” Jenny walked toward the security checkpoint without giving him a chance to continue asking.
Christopher had no choice but to follow behind her.
Soon, they boarded the plane, and Jenny took off the sunglasses. When Christopher saw the dark circles beneath her eyes, he finally understood why she wore sunglasses.
“Did you not sleep well last night because you were nervous about meeting my parents?” He tried to crack a joke.
Jenny rolled her eyes, irritated by his implication that they were in a romantic relationship.
Christopher quickly reassured her, “Just kidding. Did you have a rough night?” Jenny nodded, squinting and leaning back in her seat.
Christopher wanted to know more but hesitated to ask. Jenny didn’t seem willing to talk about it 1/7 either. “You can rest for a while. I’ll wake you up when we’re close.” Parrington wasn’t too far from Bardoff City. Nonetheless, the flight would take two hours, allowing Jenny to catch up on some sleep.
Jenny murmured in agreement and closed her eyes. The plane took off, and as the noise filled her ears, Jenny felt a strange sensation in her heart.
Meanwhile, at the Faust Group, a reporter announced that Alec and Natalia had broken up. Though they issued a joint statement, Alec wasn’t happy at all. After leaving Jenny’s place the previous night, he went straight to work to distract himself from his thoughts of her, but it didn’t work.
Just then, Vincent knocked on the door and entered the room. Seeing the frown on Alec’s face, he knew that he was annoyed.
“What’s the matter?” Alec asked.
“Miss Walter has left for Bardoff City.” Vincent had just received the news from Jenny’s bodyguards, who were powerless to prevent her departure.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 426-I Have My Pride Too!
Alec looked up at Vincent. “Did she go to Bardoff City?” “Yeah, she left just now,” Vincent answered.
Already frustrated, Alec felt even more suffocated upon hearing that. “Who did she go with?” He didn’t believe that Jenny had left Parrington alone, for there was no good reason for her to visit Bardoff City.
Vincent paused, worrying that Alec couldn’t accept the truth.
“Christopher Spade?” Alec could hazard a guess without Vincent’s answer. After all, only one man around Jenny hailed from Bardoff City. It couldn’t have been anyone else.
Vincent nodded and was filled with worry for Alec. “I believe she has a different reason for visiting Bardoff City. It probably has nothing to do with Christopher Spade.” Alec scoffed. Vincent knew that Alec didn’t believe him, but he was helpless because he genuinely had no clue about the reason for Jenny’s trip to Bardoff City.
“Why don’t…you go to Bardoff City and explain to her?” Vincent asked cautiously.
Alec glared at him, annoyed. “Why should I? Do I look like a pushover to you?” Since Jenny thought he was full of lies, he refused to pester her shamelessly.
“I have my pride, too!” he thought.
Vincent was at a loss for words. He knew Alec well, but he was afraid to speak truthfully in front of him. In the end, he said, “Okay. I’ll head back to work.” He decided to leave quickly before he was dragged further into the drama.
Alec was in no mood to pay attention to Vincent. After he left, Alec was alone in the office, facing a heap of work files on his table, which he had no intention of getting to.
“Christopher Spade,” he repeated the name silently, face filled with resentment.
One could tell that he bore a serious grudge this time.
At the same time, Christopher sneezed on the flight. Jenny opened her eyes and stared at him.” Did you catch the flu?” “No.” He shook his head. “Maybe someone is talking about me. You know I’m popular.” She was speechless at his brazenness. “Are we almost there?” “Yes, soon. The plane is descending,” he explained.
Hearing that, she sat up straight and didn’t go back to sleep. “I’ll check in at the hotel when we arrive. I’ll make an official visit to your grandpa tomorrow.” She had planned it before the trip.
He was caught by surprise. “Aren’t you staying at my place?” She stared at him like he was a fool and thought, “Why would I stay at his place when we have no relationship, to begin with? Oh, the things that people will gossip about us if they catch wind of this!” “You don’t have to worry. Grandpa and I will happily welcome you.” He was unbothered by the gossip, especially when he intended to marry Jenny from the start.
She leaned against her chair and asked, amused, “I realized that you always mention your grandpa, but you rarely talk about your parents. Do your parents welcome me as much as your grandpa?” She wondered if she was welcomed because her status was nothing compared to the socialites from Bardoff City.
“Parents?” he thought. Then, he frowned at her. “Ignore my parents. I don’t need them to poke their noses into my business.” Christopher grew up with his grandpa and barely had any relationship with his parents. He also found them difficult to communicate with and rarely contacted them.
Jenny thought the rich kids were a peculiar bunch-somehow, all of them seemed to have failed relationships with their parents.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 427-I Can’t “You can ignore your parents, but I can’t,” Jenny said. Christopher could treat his parents however he wanted, but Jenny was sensible enough not to do the same. As an outsider, she did not share his privilege.
He didn’t object in the face of her insistence and said, “Sure. I’ll pick you up tomorrow.” “Great.” Soon, their plane landed at Bardoff Airport. Once Christopher and Jenny exited the terminal, they spotted the cars that Christopher had arranged to fetch them.
He opened the car door for her. Let’s go. I’ll send you to the hotel.” “Thanks,” she thanked him without fuss since it was hard to hail a cab at that time.
The chauffeur, an old man and a long-time staff of the Spades, placed her luggage in the trunk. He was puzzled by Christopher’s polite attitude toward her and wondered about the lady’s identity, who forced an attitude change in the arrogant young man.
“Could she be Christopher’s girlfriend? But I’ve not heard of any girlfriend,” the chauffeur thought. He shook off the thoughts and drove them to Jenny’s hotel after she shared the address.
Christopher and Jenny chatted about her visit to the Spade Manor tomorrow.
She was slightly nervous, wondering if Harvey Spade would tell her the truth during her sudden visit.
“Don’t worry. I’ve talked to Grandpa before this. Since he agreed to your visit, it shows that he is ready to tell you everything,” he assured her, much to her relief.
She looked at the streets of Bardoff City in a daze. This was her first time visiting.
“How’s the city? Isn’t it more prosperous than Parrington?” Christopher appeared boastful; Parrington was no match for Bardoff City. The cities might share a common history behind their names, but they couldn’t be more different.
She nodded but shook her head again. “Parrington is not as prosperous as Bardoff, but not everyone loves a prosperous city.” Parrington was a great place, at least in her opinion. He didn’t argue with her and shrugged it off, as though she had the final say in the matter.
Not long after, the car arrived at the entrance to the hotel. She picked up her luggage and waved at Christopher. “I’ll go in now. See you tomorrow.” “I don’t mind being invited to your room,” he said with a wicked smirk. Jenny promptly ignored him and marched into the hotel with her luggage, disappearing from his sight in no time.
“Mr. Spade, should we head back to the Spade Manor?” The chauffeur turned to ask Christopher but was taken aback by the unfriendly look on Christopher’s face-that was a swift change in attitude.
“Yes, let’s go. I’ll pay Grandpa a visit.” Christopher sounded cold when he hopped into the car.
The chauffeur trembled at Christopher’s characteristic iciness. The cheeky face the young man wore around Jenny was a mask.
After Jenny unpacked her luggage, she called Stephanie. Thankfully, Stephanie’s phone wasn’t confiscated by Paul, or Jenny couldn’t contact her.
“Steph, I’m in Bardoff City.” After coming to an agreement with Stephanie’s parents that day, she told Stephanie about the plan to give her friend mental preparation-yes, Stephanie had to be mentally prepared to flee at any time. The more she observed Paul’s daily schedule, the easier it would be when she needed to escape.
“You must be dead tired.” Stephanie sounded concerned and defeated at the same time. “It didn’t have to be this troublesome.” She believed her parents must have left Parrington for her sake, even though it was against their wishes. Since they were willing to sacrifice for her, she wanted to do the same. Perhaps, Paul would be bored of her soon, and things would go back to how they were. Wouldn’t that be nice?
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 428-Don’t You Dare Think That “Steph, I know what’s on your mind. Don’t you dare think that!” Jenny raised her voice sternly to her friend, “I don’t see this as trouble, and your parents share the same sentiment. We do this willingly for your freedom. Got it?” Stephanie clutched her phone as tears welled up in her eyes. She understood that no one thought she was a burden, but she felt guilty toward them anyway.
“Steph, quit overthinking, and don’t act differently. Go about your day as usual.
Give us some time, “Jenny comforted Stephanie. She wasn’t actually angry at her friend.
“Okay. I got it.” Since they had a plan, Stephanie didn’t want to worry too much and chose to trust Jenny by leaving the matter to her.
After the call, Jenny finally had the time to rest in bed. She checked the news and realized Alec had announced his breakup with Natalia Cruz. Instead of feeling happy, she was upset-Alec dated Natalia right after they broke up, which she had no issue with if he had feelings for Natalia, but he announced another breakup again. “He’s too selfish,” she thought.
She shut her phone and mocked herself, “But what does that have to do with you, Jenny?” She went into the bathroom to shower and get an early rest before visiting the Spades the next day.
Meanwhile, Christopher entered the living room of the Spade Manor only to find two other people sitting beside Harvey.
“Grandpa.” He walked up to Harvey and ignored the other two.
Harvey grunted in response, but before he could get a word in, the two guests sitting across him vocalized their unhappiness, “Christopher, do you only have your grandpa in your eyes? Do you not see your dad and I sitting here?” Christopher finally gave them a side glance. “Gosh, look who’s around! Isn’t this Mr. and Mrs. Spade? How do you have the time to visit the Spade Manor today? I thought you were busy having fun!” In his memory, his parents had never taken care of him nor managed the company. They took the company’s yearly bonus to travel and have fun.
The couple’s marriage was not as harmonious as it seemed-Ben Spade had a mistress, and Evelyn Spade had a sugar baby. Christopher was amused by the fact that the two cheaters were sitting together. Wouldn’t they feel disgusted by each other?
“Christopher Spade!” Ben bellowed. He never once controlled his temper in front of his son.” Watch your mouth! I’m still your dad!” “That’s probably the biggest misfortune in my life,” Christopher smirked and made the bold remark without caring for their feelings. Their expressions fell as they stood up, ready to give him a lesson.
Harvey tapped his walking stick against the ground to stop them. “That s enough!
What are you trying to prove in front of me? You should have seen this coming when you neglected your son years ago!” He was disappointed in Ben, whom he had nurtured to be the company’s successor. Ben not only didn’t take over the company’s management, but he also wasted his time messing around. Even after he had a son, he didn’t change his behavior. That prompted Harvey to take over the task of raising Christopher. Thankfully, Christopher was more ambitious than his father.
“Dad!” Ben was angry at Harvey.
“What brings you here today? Since Christopher is also here, let’s sit and hear you out.” Harvey was speaking to Christopher and signaled him to sit. Christopher nodded and sat beside his grandpa as he cast a hateful glance at his parents.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 429-So What?
Ben and Evelyn put on serious faces when they brought up the purpose of their visit. He nudged her, only to receive a glare. She thought, “Is he seriously making me the bad guy every time?” Still, she collected herself and said to her son, “Christopher, I heard that you brought home a woman from Parrington-that small city.” Although the couple was not the heir of the Spade Group, they were highly interested in every single move of their son. They immediately received the news when Christopher showed up with Jenny and hurried to the Spade Manor.
Christopher’s face soured even more when they brought up the issue. “So what?” He glared at them and reined in his anger.
“We shouldn’t interfere in your life because you’re an adult. But you have to be careful when it comes to marriage,” Evelyn went on. When she noticed Christopher’s silence, she added, “A woman from a small city is not a good match for you. You’re going to take over the Spades business. If you marry someone from a dinky place, you’ll end up as a laughingstock.” Looking serious, she seemed genuinely concerned about her son’s best interest.
Christopher found her suggestion ridiculous and hilarious. Jenny would have to agree to marry him in the first place for Evelyn’s objection to be valid.
“Your mom’s right. If you want to get married, a better candidate would be the daughter of the Jacobsons. Well, she’s technically the offspring of the family’s side branch, but she’s related to the Ten Elites, after all! She’s way better than that woman from the small city. The Jacobsons’ daughter is interested in you as well. I can set up a date for the both of you if you’re fine with it.” First, they put Jenny down, then casually mention the Jacobsons’ daughter. Christopher would be dumb not to know what they were up to.
The couple was slightly annoyed at Christopher’s long silence in the face of their lengthy persuasion.
“Can you say something? Do you agree with the idea or not?” Evelyn felt a little anxious, secretly grumbling that Christopher was unlikeable.
He finally burst into laughter at her question. “What do you want me to say?
Don’t you think you’re hilarious?” “Christopher Spade!” Ben’s temper was about to flare up again. At this point, Harvey had caught up on Ben and Evelyn’s plan. He glared at Ben and said coldly, “I was the one who agreed to Christopher pursuing Jenny Walter. Do you have a problem with it?” The couple finally learned the woman’s full name, but they were more shocked by the fact that Christopher had received Harvey’s blessing to go after the woman, judging from the disbelief on their faces.
Knowing that Harvey had spent his life working hard just to expand the family’s influence, they were puzzled that he’d approve of his grandson pursuing a woman from a small city. Wasn’t that a waste of Christopher’s arranged marriage?
Harvey didn’t want to explain anything to the perplexed couple. “If that’s all you want to say, you can leave now. The manor isn’t that huge anyway. There’s no extra space for the both of you.” Ben and Evelyn were speechless by Harvey’s announcement. Sure, the Spade Manor might not be the largest house in Bardoff City, but it was by no means cramped. The manor had more than ten servant quarters, and it was ridiculous for Harvey to claim that there was no space for them.
“Dad, I’m not sure why you’d agree, but I hope you think it through. If Christopher marries that woman from the small city, you should also give up on your dream of building our family’s influence.” Ben appeared slightly angered by his father’s apparent senility.
Christopher merely scoffed and said, “What does that have to do with you? No matter what, you’ll receive your share of the yearly bonus.” “You!” Ben stood up furiously. Christopher did the same while staring into Ben’s eyes and even deliberately rubbed his wrists. In an instant, tension filled the room.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 430-Those Imbeciles!
Right as the father and son were about to get into a fight, Harvey shook his head in defeat and sighed softly. “That’s enough! Do you want to cut my lifespan short?” “Grandpa!” “Dad!” Ben and Christopher yelled simultaneously, but none wanted to give in.
Harvey waved his hand and dismissed them. “Leave, the both of you. As Christopher’s grandfather, I’ll make the arrangements for his marriage. You and Evelyn don’t have to worry about it.” Ben and Evelyn appeared dissatisfied and wanted to protest, but they shut up under Harvey’s sharp glare. “Remember whose money you’re taking. If you push me to my limits, I’ll not give you a single cent.” The couple fell silent after hearing Harvey’s threat. No joke! How could they go about their lives without money? They left the manor in no time but had no plans to give up.
Christopher took his seat when his parents were gone. “You shouldn’t have spoiled them, Grandpa. You should’ve kicked them out earlier.” To him, Ben and Evelyn were the two bloodsuckers of the Spades.
“Christopher, I know you’re angry at them. Still, they’re your parents,” Harvey sighed. “I hope you treat them well after I pass. Even if you refuse to see them as your parents, you should spare them.” The last thing he wanted was for Christopher to carry out the ruthless act of cutting off his parents. Harvey would never tolerate his descendants doing so.
“You still have many years ahead of you, Grandpa. Why would you bring up death?” Christopher smiled and dropped the discussion about his parents to avoid spoiling the mood.
Harvey dropped the topic and asked him, “Why didn’t you bring Jenny along?” “She said she wanted to stay at the hotel. You know I can’t change her mind.
So, I sent her there.* He looked helpless. Indeed, he was powerless around Jenny.
That was within Harvey’s prediction, and he didn’t comment on it. “When is she visiting?” “Tomorrow. I’ll pick her up,” Christopher answered. Harvey nodded, but Christopher seemed worried. “Grandpa, do you really plan to tell her everything?” “Wouldn’t I give her a bad impression of the Spades if I refuse to tell her the truth after she came all the way here?” Harvey questioned.
Christopher agreed, but he looked rather reluctant. “But you haven’t told me about it.” “It’ll be your turn after I tell her.” Harvey never planned to keep it a secret from his grandson, for Christopher would need to know the truth sooner or later.
Once Harvey revealed the truth to Jenny and gauged her reaction, it would be time to inform Christopher next.
Christopher smiled. “Sure. I’ll discuss tomorrow’s menu with the chefs in case they serve food not to her taste.” “You sure care a lot about her even before you’re married.” Harvey poked fun at Christopher and wondered if his grandson had fallen in love with Jenny. There was no harm in developing real feelings for Jenny-only then would she feel Christopher’s sincerity.
However, Christopher was flustered by Harvey’s joke and quickly said, “No! I just wanted to be a good host to our guest! Wasn’t that what you taught me before?” Harvey didn’t want to argue against that because he saw through Christopher.
Back in Parrington, every employee at the Faust Group office knew that their president, Alec Faust, was in a foul mood that day. As his staff, they had to tread carefully to avoid getting into trouble.
Some guessed that he was in a bad mood because of the breakup with Natalia Cruz since his mood deteriorated around the time the news leaked. Nobody could think of other reasons that contributed to his irritation.
Trembling, Vincent nervously pushed open the door to Alec’s office and said in a hushed voice,” Mr. Faust, there are some issues at the Bardoff branch that need your direct attention.” “Those imbeciles! Why should I keep them around if they need me to deal with everything?” Alec roared.
“A-are you going?” Vincent asked weakly.
