Ch. 3011..3020
Chapter 3011
It took a lot of effort, but Jessica finally moved all her belongings into the house that Larry had found for
her.
"What do you think? This house isn't too shabby, is it?"
Larry asked as he glanced around.
"Oh, yes. It's pretty good.Thank you so much, Larry"
Jessica hurriedly replied.
Wait a minute, when has she become this polite? Larry looked at Jessica quizzically, a feeling of
unease slowly coming over him. He was worried that she might still be upset, especially with how
things had ended between her and Caspian.
Because even though she never said it, Larry knew she hadn't gotten over him completely.
After all, it was hard to forget someone who had given you so much to remember, and Larry knew that
better than anyone else.He had also experienced the pain of losing a loved one when he thought Joan
had died in an accident, so he knew the agony Jessica must be in now.
What a pity it was that their relationship had to end.
It was such a loving and beautiful one, yet Caspian just had to ruin it.
What the hell is that fool thinking about? Ditching Jessica for another woman who doesn't even like
him? Larry sighed, still annoyed with how Caspian had treated Jessica.
"It's okay, Larry.Marriage is destined just like life and death.Perhaps, Caspian and I are just not meant
to be; Jessica said self-deprecatingly.Of course, she wanted nothing more than to have Caspian show
up and take her back. But deep down, she knew that would be highly unlikely.
Rather than fantasizing about the impossible, Jessica knew it was time for her to sober up and do what
was best for herself. So what if my love is gone? I still have Larry and my career.
And with a flourishing career like hers, there was no need for her to bother herself with the affairs of the
heart.
"Jessica, you're my sister. No matter what happens in the future, you can count on me to always have
your back!"
Jessica smiled, greatly comforted by his words.
"Hey, Joan, did you hear that? Larry doesn't want you anymore. He said he's sticking with me!"
She joked as she wrapped her arm around his shoulder.
Joan laughed and shook her head.
What a rascal, always teasing me! If this had been in the past, Joan would have blown her top.
But after everything they had been through, she couldn't wait for Larry and Jessica to be even closer
than before.
Jessica was an only child, and since she lost her parents, Joan could only imagine how lonely she
must have felt.
Yet, she had overcome all odds to come to where she was today.
She initially thought Caspian would be the one to give Jessica the love and happiness she deserved,
but alas, he turned out to be just another despicable scum.
What made matters worse was that he even wanted to keep the unborn child from his one-night stand.
Joan got infuriated just thinking about it.
Like Larry, she was seething at Caspian for being so harsh toward Jessica.
They had been together for so long; yet, all of that meant nothing to him when he ended it.
He dumped a woman who truly loved him, only to dote on another who just wanted to toy with his
feelings.
Caspian, you're such a fool! "Joan, what are you thinking about?"
Jessica asked with a nudge.
"It's that idiot! Whenever I think about him, I feel myself burning with rage!"
Upon hearing that, Jessica merely let out a faint smile.
Joan immediately covered her mouth, embarrassed at her outburst.
Afraid that Jessica might feel sad from being reminded of Caspian again, Joan quickly changed the
subject.
"So, Jessica, what do you think about this house? Do you like it?"
"It's pretty good! The fact that Larry found this house for me makes me like it even more. Please visit
when you're free in the future, and ask Nancy along too!"
Before Joan could respond, Nancy surprised everyone by barging in.
"You don't even have to ask.I'm already here!"
Speak of the devil! Jessica was so excited that she hurriedly ran up to welcome her.
"You're just everywhere, aren't you? Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"
Chapter 3012
"What's there to tell? I'm no outsider, so I'm free to come whenever I want!" Nancy said with a shrug.
Everyone burst out laughing at that moment.
It was this character of Nancy's that drew Jessica to her.She wasn't pretentious, she was carefree, and
most importantly, she wasn't scheming like other women.
Jessica felt truly happy and comfortable around her.
After cleaning up and tidying the house for a while, they finally stopped to take a well-deserved break.
"Thank you so much for all your help" Jessica said as she plopped herself down on the sofa.
"Oh, don't say that! You know we'd do anything for you; Nancy immediately replied.
"Alright, alright.Tell you what, I shall cook for everyone tonight!"
With that, Jessica made a beeline for the kitchen.
Nancy's eyes widened in shock at what she had just heard.
What? Jessica cooks? Joan, like Nancy, was also staring at Jessica in bewilderment.
But what surprised her more was how Larry didn't even bat an eyelid to all of this.
Joan looked at him skeptically.
Does he already know that Jessica can cook? In actuality, it was perfectly normal that Jessica knew
how to cook.
She had been with Caspian for years, so it wasn't surprising if she had learned to cook for him.
Everyone enjoyed themselves over the hearty, delicious meal, and after a bit of chit-chat, they soon
took their leave.
On their way home, Joan couldn't stop nagging about how worried she was for Jessica, and Larry
could only listen on in amusement.
Eventually, he had to coax her in order to calm her down.
"Okay, okay.Stop nagging. You know how Jessica's like. She isn't one to be messed with, and she
definitely won't let herself be bullied."
Joan knew Larry had a point.
Jessica was undoubtedly a tough woman, but the problems she faced were just way too many and
complex.
Besides, she was all too aware that with a character like Jessica's, she wouldn't be able to get over
Caspian for some time.
They had been so madly in love before, and now that they had broken up, there was no doubt both of
them would be nursing the wound over a period of time.
Because in any relationship, the more one had invested in it, the more they stood to lose when it turned
sour.
Joan turned away and gazed out of the window.
She found it a pity that their relationship couldn't come to fruition, but she felt even worse because she
couldn't do anything to help.
Perhaps that's just the complexity of human nature. It's something that we'll never fully understand.
"Don't worry so much. You can visit and chat with Jessica whenever you're free, so it helps keep her
mind off Caspian" Larry said.
Joan nodded in silence. She won't be able to deal with this alone. She needs me now more than ever,
and I shall be there for her.
Unbeknownst to them, instead of heading home, Nancy had met up with Caspian at a café.
After everything he had done to Jessica, Nancy was very disappointed with him.
Caspian had always come across as somewhat of a goof, so she never expected he would be capable
of doing something as horrible as this.
"What on earth were you thinking? Are you going to dump Jessica just like that?"
Caspian's expression darkened as soon as those words left Nancy's mouth.
I love Jessica.I don't want to leave her either, but what other choice do I have? Caspian lowered his
head, guilt written on his face.
"That's the only thing I can do, Nancy.I hope you understand. That woman is carrying my child" Caspian
muttered.
Nancy scoffed.
His child? How can he even be sure that he fathered the child? Nancy had always known that Caspian
was too gullible and stubborn for his own good.
Just because that woman claimed to have lost her virginity to him, he believed her with no questions
asked.
The thing was that the woman's story could have been easily formed with the help of advanced medical
technology.
Chapter 3013
"Caspian, what if the child she's carrying isn't yours?" Nancy asked.
What nonsense is she spouting? Of course, the child is his.
Who else could have fathered the child? Irritated by her ridiculous question, Caspian looked out of the
window and ignored her.
Nancy smiled.
She had fully expected this reaction from him, so she wasn't offended at all.
"Caspian, don't say I didn't remind you. These days, you can't believe everything that others tell
you. They can claim it was their first time or that they're pregnant with your child, but all that may not be
true."
Nancy said it with such calm and conviction that she didn't look like she was joking.
That infuriated Caspian even more.He stared daggers at her, wondering what she meant by that.
"I've said all that I wanted to say.The rest is up to you.I suggest you look into things a bit more
closely.Good luck."
With that, Nancy grabbed her coat and left the café.
Caspian, now alone, looked utterly devastated.
Even though Nancy's words were direct and harsh, Caspian had to admit that she did make a lot of
sense.
The more he thought about what she had mentioned, the more he frowned.
If he found out that he had been lied to, he wouldn't let that woman off easily! Back at home, Caspian
had only just walked into the living room when Lisa pouted at him.
"Where have you been, Caspian? I missed you so much"
Is that so? Why didn't she call me then? Caspian eyed the woman in front of him suspiciously, Nancy's
words still ringing in the back of his head.Lisa was taken aback by his reaction and looked at him
warily.
What's wrong with him? Something feels off.
"Let's go for a checkup tomorrow;’ Caspian suddenly said.
What now? Why does he suddenly want me to go for a checkup? Despite her worries, she knew she
had no choice but to agree to it.
What she didn't know was that Caspian fully intended to find out how far along she was.
It was the only way to ascertain if the child was his.
The next day, the two of them left for the hospital right after breakfast.
After a thorough check, the doctor smiled at them.
"Everything looks great.Don't worry. The fetus is healthy"
"Alright, why don't you wait in the car? I'll go get some health supplements for you" Caspian said as he
gently nudged Lisa away.
For some inexplicable reason, Lisa started to panic as she left the doctor's office.
"Doctor, may I Know how far along is my girlfriend’ Caspian asked.
"Oh, didn't she tell you? It's three months now! I was still wondering why the father of the child didn't
come along for this checkup: Father of the child? In that instant, everything became clear to Caspian.
Everything that Nancy had warned him about was true.
The baby that Lisa was carrying wasn't his! He slammed his fist into the wall as his eyes flashed with
murderous intent.
She had blatantly lied to him, and he had fallen for it.
Even though he was angry, Caspian knew what he had to do next as he pulled out his phone and made
a call.
"Larry, I want to have a drink with you."
"I'm not free," Larry replied coldly and was about to end the call.
"No! Larry, please! I have finally known the truth!"
Larry was taken aback by it but soon recovered his composure.
"Okay.Where are you? I'll meet you there?"
Larry couldn't hide the smile on his face.
Even though it had taken that long, what mattered was that Caspian had finally seen the light.
When he arrived at the bar they had planned to meet, Larry found Caspian seated in the corner,
looking utterly miserable.
"Caspian!"
Larry greeted as he quickly made his way toward him.
No matter what he had done, Caspian was still a good friend of his, and seeing him so glum and
defeated broke Larry's heart.
Chapter 3014
"Larry, tell me why? What have I done to deserve this?" Caspian cried out as he hugged Larry.
What why? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that there's no one to blame but yourself, Caspian.
As much as he wanted to be honest, Larry knew Caspian was already feeling awful enough, so he held
his tongue and comforted him.
But even though he had found out the truth and realized his mistake, it'd still be difficult for Caspian to
get Jessica's forgiveness.
She was someone who would stand firm to her decision and there would be no turning back for her
once she had made her mind up about something.
It was especially so when it came to affairs concerning her love life.
Besides, it was Caspian who had dumped her in the first place.
After that betrayal, there wouldn't be any easy way for him to get back with her.
"What should I do? What the f*ck should I do now?"
Caspian shouted as he downed one beer after another.
What else can you do? Get yourself out of this situation immediately and continue living your life!
Before he could get his thoughts out, Larry's heart once again softened at the sight of Caspian. He
knew that a man who was at his lowest point needed to be comforted, not scolded.
"Alright, stop drinking. It's good that you now know the truth. What are your plans?" he asked while
patting his shoulder.
"I'm going to break up with that woman! The child she's carrying isn't mine!"
"Okay, but you can't deny having slept with her, right? You'd still have to be responsible for that, don't
you?" Caspian froze.
He knew he had well and truly messed up, all because he got himself drunk and lost control.
Without any warning, Caspian started slapping himself hard.
"Caspian!"
Larry shouted as he tried to push his hands away.
"I deserve this! I got cheated by others and even let Jessica down.I'm an idiot and an a*shole!"
Larry was glad that Caspian finally admitted he had been in the wrong.
But what good is that now? If there had been any misunderstandings with Jessica, he should have
been honest and talked them through with her.Instead, he got himself drunk and landed himself in this
mess.
"Listen to me, Caspian.I know you want to leave that woman, but don't be rash"
Ring! Ring! Before Caspian could ask Larry what he meant, his phone started ringing.
Unknown number? Without any hesitation, Caspian rejected the call.
Before long, his phone started ringing again, and it showed no signs of stopping unless he answered it.
Finally, Caspian got annoyed and took the call.
"Who the f*ck are you, and why do you keep calling?"
A sweet, saccharine voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Is this Caspian?"
"Who are you?"
"Hello, Caspian.I'm Lisa's friend.I wanted to let you know that you didn't do anything the night you got
drunk," she said in a hushed tone.
What? Is she saying I never slept with Lisa? As he felt his heart racing even faster, Caspian pounded
his head ina bid to clear his mind and calm himself down.
Larry stared at his friend curiously.
What could he be talking about? "Repeat what you just said!"
Caspian suddenly shouted.
The girl on the other end did as instructed, this time louder.
I really have been the biggest fool! Caspian's face darkened as he angrily tossed his phone onto the
sofa.
Larry knew something must have gone amiss.
Otherwise, he wouldn't be this mad.
He stared at Caspian, waiting for him to explain himself.
All of a sudden, Caspian plopped his head down on the table and started sobbing loudly.
Caspian wasn't someone who would cry easily, so Larry felt even more pained seeing him reduced to a
sobbing mess.
"There, there.Stop crying. We're all men. There's no need for tears.Tell me what happened."
Chapter 3015
At long last, Caspian looked up at Larry and wiped his tears away.
"Larry, I've been completely fooled and lied to."
If there was a silver lining to this mess he had gotten himself into, it was that he didn't give Lisa the one
million she had asked for.
No wonder she was badgering me for the money! It all makes sense now! "Larry, can I go back to
Norton Corporation?"
"Of course, no problem."
After exchanging a few more words over a couple more beers, Caspian got so drunk that Larry had to
send him home.
Once they got to Caspian's, Lisa immediately made her way toward them.
"Oh my, where have you been? Why have you had so much to drink?"
Caspian scoffed at the sight of Lisa, annoyed that she still had the guts to stay by his side after what
she had done.
"Caspian's drunk. Please take care of him; Larry said before leaving.Lisa smiled when she heard
that. He's drunk? This might be a good opportunity for me! As she helped him to the bed, her eyes
gradually turned dark and sinister.
"Caspian, where did you keep your credit card?"
Lisa whispered while caressing Caspian's hair.
"What credit card?"
"The one that Larry gifted you!"
Indeed, she's only with me to fleece me! Caspian ignored her and deliberately rolled over, pushing her
to the floor as he did.
Lisa yelped in pain as she lay sprawled on the floor.
How dare he push me down! Nevertheless, she wasn't going to give up that easily.
She walked over to the bed and planted a kiss on Caspian's forehead.
"Be good, Caspian.Tell me now, where's that credit card of yours?"
Thump! Lisa suddenly stumbled back into the wall when Caspian pushed her away.
It was yet another futile attempt, and she was getting frustrated.
Forget it.
I doubt he remembers anything in this drunken state.I shall ask him another day! With that thought,
Lisa turned and left the room.
Unbeknownst to Lisa, Caspian had heard every word she said.He knew what she was after, and it
made his blood boil.I'm the biggest id*ot.I did this to myself! He hit his head hard as he thought back
and regretted all the decisions he had made.
Because of Caspian, Larry decided to pay Jessica another visit and try to explain things to her.
"Larry? What are you doing here so late? Aren't you worried about angering Joan if she finds out?"
Jessica said with a yawn.
Larry had thought he was more than ready to speak up for Caspian, but now that he was standing in
front of Jessica, he found himself having second thoughts.
He realized he didn't know how to put it across to her.
Where would he even begin? Should ! even try? She may never forgive Caspian for the rest of her life!
Larry sighed, overwhelmed with conflicting emotions.
As much as he hated it, he knew he had to try talking to Jessica.
"Jessica, can we talk?" Jessica stared back in bewilderment.
What could have happened that made Larry come down personally to talk to her? She straightened her
back and shook her head, trying to clear her mind.
"Fine, go ahead.I'm all ears"
Jessica replied as she sat on the sofa in the living room.
"It's about Caspian"
Jessica's eyes instantly widened in shock.
Why would Larry want to talk about Caspian? He should know better than anyone else that she had cut
all ties with Caspian; yet, here he was, mentioning Caspian in the middle of the night.
Has he gotten into another mess? Jessica was wide awake now, but her face had turned stone-cold.
Caspian, you cruel b*stard.
No matter what, there's no way I'll forgive you easily! For so long, Caspian was the most important
person in her life.
Whenever there was anything good, she'd always think of him first.
But alas, he had to get himself tangled up with some other woman and even got her pregnant! The
more Jessica was reminded of it, the more her eyes burned with rage.
Chapter 3016
"Larry, if this is about Caspian, I'll have to stop you right here. It's over between us.You should go back
to Joan. She'd be worried sick if you stayed out too late"
Why would Joan be worried sick? It should be Caspian! Caspian had already admitted his mistakes,
and if Jessica was willing to give him another chance, Larry was sure their relationship would become
even stronger than before.
"Jessica, if Larry already knows he's in the wrong, will you forgive him?"
Absolutely not! Even if he showed up begging on his knees, there's no way I'd change my mind! A glint
of murderous intent flashed across her eyes.
If they weren't living in a civilized society, Jessica would have dealt with him early on.He deserves
every bit of it too! For wasting my time and toying with my feelings! "Larry, I hope you'll never mention
his name in front of me again.I'm tired.
I think you should leave now: The look of disdain on Jessica's face had gotten even more apparent as
she tried to chase Larry home.
Of course, Larry knew her hatred for Caspian had gotten to the point of no return. But he still wasn't
going to give up.
"You haven't answered my question, Jessica."
Jessica gave him a side-eye as she quietly seethed.
Isn't it obvious what my answer would be? "Fine, I'll tell you.
Even if Caspian comes running to me begging for my forgiveness, I'll never give it to him that easily!"
Jessica's response wasn't entirely unexpected because Larry knew how stubborn she could be.
Besides, there was nothing wrong with her feeling the way she did now.
If Caspian hadn't been so callous, Jessica would have been the perfect wife for him! She had the looks,
the figure, and she could juggle well between her family and her career.
She was every man's dream! And yet, Caspian threw that all away.
"Jessica, can you give it some more thought?"
Why should !? You can give me a thousand and one reasons, but none will be enough for me to forgive
Caspian.
"I don't have to give it any more thought, Larry! You can tell him there's no way we're ever getting back
together!"
All at once, Larry was left dumbstruck.
As expected, she was as stubborn as a mule, and there was no way for him to change her mind.
Not that he could ever blame her for being angry with Caspian.
Larry smiled faintly and took his leave.
He had done all that he could, and now it was up to Caspian to clear his own mess.
He called Caspian, who answered almost immediately once the phone rang.
"How was it, Larry? Did Jessica say yes?"
"No.She rejected it."
The other end of the line fell into silence immediately.
Larry knew how disappointed Caspian must be feeling, but what else could he do? All this happened
because of him.
So there was no one to blame but himself.
"That's enough, Caspian. From now on, you'll have to stop hounding her."
With that, Larry hung up the phone. It sure was tough being the middle man, and he had had enough of
it.
"How is it?"
Joan asked as she hurriedly walked toward him.
"I suppose all hope is gone between them."
Joan's face darkened at that instant.
She had always hoped for Caspian and Jessica to get back together, but knowing Jessica's character,
there was no way anyone could force her to change her mind.
"Forget it"
Larry added.
"This is their problem. We should let them deal with it themselves."
And that was something Joan knew very well.
It was never the place for outsiders to interfere with the relationships of others.
But she could at least try, couldn't she? She sat on her sofa, staring at her phone.
She had scrolled to Jessica's number but hesitated on whether she should make the call.
Eventually, she gave in.
"Hey, Jessica, I..."
Before she could finish her words, Jessica interrupted, "Joan, please stop if this is about Caspian’ Joan
was left speechless.
Given how clever Jessica was, of course, she'd have immediately figured out Joan's intention.
Chapter 3017
Joan had no choice but to change the subject.
"Well then, shall we go shopping tomorrow?"
"Sure."
As long as it wasn't about Caspian, Jessica was fine with anything.
The next day, the two of them met up as planned.
Since Jessica had made it clear that she never wanted to hear Caspian's name again, Joan made sure
she never brought it up either.
"What? How could the two of you go out without me?"
Nancy whined over the phone.
Joan smiled at her silliness before explaining the reason for the meetup.
"Wait for me! I'll be right over!"
Nancy exclaimed and hung up the phone right after.
Joan and Jessica exchanged glances and laughed.
No one was a better shopper than Nancy, and it was indeed their fault for having left her out.
Before long, the three women met up.
"What do you have in mind?" Nancy asked while nudging Jessica.
Jessica shot her a dirty look.
Since when did this woman become so nosy? Nancy smirked in response, wondering if Jessica was
being shy or just avoiding this topic altogether.
Everyone has known about Caspian owning up to his mistakes.
Surely, Jessica would have heard about it too.
So why doesn't she have anything to say about it? As long as Caspian and Jessica patched things up,
there was no doubt that their future would be smooth- sailing and happy.
That was something Nancy truly hoped and wanted for her friend.
"I don't know what you're talking about; Jessica replied while brushing away Nancy's arm.
"Jessica, we're all women, so I'm going to cut straight to the chase.Caspian has already admitted he
was in the wrong, so is there still hope between you and him?"
"No way! We are never, ever getting back together! Can you please stop talking about him? I just want
to enjoy shopping with you two" Jessica replied, exasperated.
Joan sensed the rage starting to boil in Jessica and decided that it'd be best to remain silent.
Nancy walked up to Joan and held her arm tight, greeting her sheepishly.
"Look at what you've done" Joan chided her.
"Let's just stop talking about it."
An awkward silence filled the air as the three women glanced at one another, no one knowing what to
do next.
All of a sudden, a familiar voice rang out from behind them.
"Jessica!"
Oh my goodness! Caspian? Jessica stilled when she saw him.
What the hell is he doing here? And what does he want from me? As she clenched her fists, her heart
started racing.
Nancy was just as stunned when she saw Caspian show up suddenly.
Joan, however, was completely calm and composed.
"Jessica, please give me another chance! I love you!" he shouted from afar.
His words were nothing but the truth.
Caspian had always loved Jessica.
Everything went wrong only because he thought he had gotten Lisa pregnant and he needed to be
responsible.
However, all Jessica felt toward him was rage.
What does he take me for? Am I someone to be at his beck and call? If there's one thing Jessica was
sure of, it was that she was nobody's plaything.
"Jessica! That's Caspian!" Nancy exclaimed.
So what? I don't care! Even if he knelt in public and begged for my forgiveness, {I'm still not getting
back together with him! Jessica decided she wasn't going to stay to listen to Caspian.
"Joan, I'm going off first? she said as she turned to leave.
Nancy immediately stopped her in her tracks.
"What? You can't do that. You have to go over to him.Look how awkward he is just standing there by
himself!" Jessica frowned at her.
Awkward or not, that's his problem, not mine.
Why should I care? After all, he had chosen his own paths, so there was no one to blame but
himself. No matter what the outcome was, Caspian would have to live with it.
Chapter 3018
Their time together was in the past now.
"I am wrong, Jessica!"
Caspian continued shouting.
Instantly, the customers nearby crowded around him and tried to listen to the gossip.
"Hey, who is he apologizing to?"
"No idea. But it looks like he's confessing."
A few women couldn't stop talking about what was happening, their faces full of envy.
"Caspian!"
Lisa suddenly appeared.
All eyes were on her in an instant.
"What are you doing here, Caspian? What is the meaning of this? I'm pregnant with your child, so what
are you doing here?" the woman cried out loud with misery written all over her face.
"Get lost!"
The man suddenly pushed her onto the floor. He emanated a bitingly cold aura as he spoke and even
Jessica was shocked at the sight of him.
"You wretched woman! You're pregnant with someone else's child; yet, you're trying to make me a
scapegoat? I've already given you much face for not exposing your true colors" he shouted while
pointing at her.
The woman was dumbfounded.
How did he know that the child isn't his? Did he do something secretly behind my back? it's no wonder
why he wouldn't hand over that one million to me.
"Everything is clear now, Jessica. The child is not Caspian's and nothing is going on between the two of
them.I think both of you can get back together now’ Joan explained carefully as she watched the
woman before her.No! That's not possible anymore! Jessica kept shaking her head as tears welled up
in her eyes.Even if Caspian split up with the woman, she would never turn back anymore.I, Jessica
Zimmer, will only look forward.
"You don't have to try and convince me anymore, Joan and Nancy.
There's no way he and I will get back together anymore. She reached up to dry her tears and was about
to turn to leave.
"Please forgive me, Jessica! Let's start all over,"
Caspian pleaded.Jessica saw the sincere look on his face from afar, but all she did was smile.
How she wished she could start over with him.
However, everything was too late now.
Right then, Joan and Nancy followed after her.
Caspian realized that the woman hadn't forgiven him and his gaze darkened.
Jessica went to her bookstore after she left the mall.
It wasn't busy there when she reached and there weren't many customers.
"Why are you here, Ms.Zimmer?" one of the staff greeted.
"How's the bookstore doing recently?" she asked.
"Business is doing well. But there's a weird man who would buy books here every day’ the staff said.
Huh? What is this? Jessica quickly straightened her clothes and went into the security control room.
Sure enough, a familiar silhouette showed up on the screen.
She felt uneasy all over the moment she confirmed that it was him.
Why did he come to the bookstore? She rubbed her hands together anxiously, seemingly trying to calm
herself down.
"Was he here to buy books?" she asked nervously.
"Yes.He buys one almost every day; the staff answered.Da*n it, Caspian. We have broken up.Why are
you bothering me like this? Teardrops rolled down her face the next second.
"Ms.Zimmer, um, someone is looking for you by the entrance"another staff said, still panting from
running.
For some reason, it made Jessica even more anxious.
This guy won't give up until he gets what he wants, won't he? She put down the stuff she was holding
and made her way out.
Caspian instantly walked up to her the moment she came out of the bookstore, intending to give her an
explanation.
"Jessica, please just let me explain" he said as he grabbed onto her arm.
"You don't need to explain anything.
Just do your own thing.
We have nothing to do with each other from now on, Caspian.
And one more thing, if you continue to bother me like this, don't blame me for being ruthless when I call
the cops on you; Jessica spat.
Chapter 3019
She hated men who were unreasonable.
He was the one who gave up on her first; yet, he wanted to get back together with her so shamelessly
now.
"Please.Listen to me, Jessica" he said restlessly.
"I told you that you don't have to explain anything.I don't want to listen to any of your explanations
either. It doesn't matter if what you did was something voluntary or because you were helpless. It has
nothing to do with me anymore.Leave now, please.Otherwise, I'm going to call the cops.I have other
matters to tend to, so I won't entertain you anymore."
With that said, she turned and went back into the bookstore.
What a stubborn woman! She knew that I had no choice back then but is still so ruthless towards
me.His expression slowly darkened at the thought of it.
Jessica's reaction was actually extremely normal and she didn't go too far at all.
The one who crossed the line had always been Caspian.
Before all this happened, Joan and Larry had warned him countless times but he never listened.
And now, he landed himself in hot water.
Not only was he unable to salvage his relationship with Jessica, but Lisa was also clinging to him.
His life was just like a drama now.
"How can you be so cruel, Caspian?" Lisa cried as she ran towards him.
Then, she grabbed tightly onto his arm and didn't let go.
"What are you trying to do?" the man's guard went up as he asked.
What was she trying to do? She was obviously going to pester him.
Lisa sneered and a disdainful look appeared on her face.
"I want to be with you, Caspian.I really like you for who you are. We've been together for so long, you
must've felt it, right? I'll give birth to your children in the future, and I'll cook and clean for you" she said
coquettishly.
Is that so? Would you still say that if I didn't have the money? What a joke! "Get lost! I will never be with
you!" Caspian shouted.
And then what? Are you going to get back together with that b*tch Jessica? Lisa stared coldly at him
and her eyes were filled with disdain. She was very familiar with Jessica's personality and temper.
Since Caspian did something to betray her or crossed her bottom line, she would never forgive him
easily.
If you don't turn back and be with me now, it won't be as simple as losing just a woman for you.
Little did she know, the man had already planned something.
He had already decided that regardless of whether Jessica agreed to reconcile with him, he would
never have any ties with the woman before him.
Both of them continued with their squabble in front of Jessica's bookstore, catching the attention of the
people around them.
Then, a familiar voice sounded from behind him, "Caspian!"
Lisa's body trembled and fear was written all over her face.
"Larry!"
Caspian instantly walked over and greeted.
"Seems like it's quite lively here"
Larry deliberately said and the woman subconsciously took a few steps back.
"What, were you guys fighting in front of my sister's bookstore?"
His sister? Lisa looked up at him in confusion.
When did Jessica become his sister?Sh*t! I've offended someone so powerful! He wouldn't ask for the
money back from Caspian, would he?
"It's my fault, Larry.I shouldn't have come here" Caspian said with his head down.
"Yes, it's true that you're in the wrong. But, as the saying goes, it takes two to tango.I believe this
woman here is involved as well, right?"
he replied as he turned around to look at her.
Lisa was left dumbfounded in an instant.
What do I do now? He wouldn't hit me, would he? She panicked.
"Um, I'm so sorry, Mr.Norton.I didn't know this is your sister's bookstore.Sorry for the trouble.I have
something else to tend to so I'll take my leave now."
With that said, she quickly turned and left.
Chapter 3020
Caspian finally heaved a sigh of relief as he watched her leave.
Sadness rose in Larry's chest when he saw the former's panicked look. You shouldn't have done it in
the first place. He shook his head and sighed before walking into the bookstore.
Caspian hesitated for a moment but decided not to enter and left.He was too embarrassed to face
Jessica now.
"Hey, how have you been doing? Are you doing alright?" Larry asked softly while studying his
surroundings.
"What? Don't you believe in me? Don't worry. I'm doing great. Who knows, I might even be able to do
something bigger!" Jessica said as she walked over to him.
Oh? She's getting more and more ambitious! He then patted her shoulder.
He was relieved, but sadness flashed across his face for a second.
What's that saying again? Once bitten, twice shy? Caspian hurt her so she must have been
traumatized, right? He was worried for her.
"What do you plan to do next, Jessica?" he asked.
Plans? What else can I do? I've completely let go of my love affair now.
All I want to do is focus on my career and achieve groundbreaking success with it.
"I want to open up a few chain stores" she smiled and answered awkwardly.
She knew that she didn't actually want that.
Larry stared at her but said nothing.
Oh, forget it.I should just let her do what she wants.
These things still need to depend on fate anyway.
They can't stop it if fate does its job.
"Alright, you should head back now.If Joan knows that you're here again, she's going to get jealous"
Jessica said as she pushed him, trying to get him to leave.
"Who said that I would be jealous? I already know that Larry's going to be here" Joan said with a smile
as she walked over.
"Don't worry.I wouldn't think much about it even if the both of you slept in the same bed," she added
deliberately.
She believed in their relationship and she trusted that Jessica wouldn't do anything.
"Wow.Then, are you really not afraid that Larry and I would actually sleep together?" Jessica asked
purposely.
"You can try” the former answered with a smile.
"What rubbish! You can just keep Larry to yourself. The man I want must be much more outstanding
than he is" the latter replied.
"Hey, what do you mean by that? Are you saying that I'm not good enough for you?" Larry asked loudly.
The women standing before him instantly laughed out loud.
Jessica was obviously just joking.
Otherwise, she wouldn't have fallen in love with Caspian previously.
Sometimes, when the love was strong enough, nothing else mattered anymore.
With that, the three of them chatted happily for a while before Larry and Joan left together.
"Do you think Jessica has really let go of him?" Joan asked curiously as she glanced at the man beside
her.
How can she let something like this go so easily? A cold look flashed across Larry eyes.He had
witnessed her relationship with Caspian the whole time.
Everything that happened with that man seemed to be unforgettable so there was no way she could let
go just like that.
Larry shook his head and sighed but said nothing.
Ring...
Ring...
"Mr.Norton, there are some matters that need your attention; his assistant's anxious voice sounded
over the phone.Didn't I settle everything already? He scratched the back of his head in confusion.
"Um, one of the managers wants to discuss a project with you" she continued.
Larry instantly stopped the car beside the road and explained everything to Joan.
She got down from the car and he finally drove off.She smiled as she watched the car go and didn't get
angry at all.
The woman looked up at the sky and took in a deep breath. She was relaxed and happy.
However, she didn't know just what was awaiting her.
