Ch. 2331..2340

Life at the Top Chapter 2331-There were all sorts of instant noodles, biscuits, and water in the hotel suite.

One would think that Omas was preparing for battle with how solemn he was. All of this was prepared by Anne for Omas before he left.

Omas initially believed that it was unnecessary since doing so might lead others to misunderstand. However, Anne did not stop. In fact, he ensured that Omas had enough resources that he could survive around a week isolated from the outside world after making the necessary preparations. Only then did Anne leave assured.

Before he left, Omas actually asked “Is this all really necessary?”

“According to my experience in Morten, very much so…”

Omas finally believed that Anne was right when he saw the dog foaming at the mouth. Then, Omas slowly made his way to the window and peeked through the slit in the curtains.

It was quiet outside, and no one was any wiser about the dangers that just occurred within the room.

However, Omas knew that true danger laid outside his room. Tonight’s poisoning incident was only a premonition. Things would only get worse from here.

Having failed, Dejon returned to the secret base indignantly.

Kerrick, the leader asked when he saw Dejon return so soon and angrily.

“You’re back soon. Did you fail?”

Dejon nodded helplessly and told them what happened. “Boss, something tells me Omas isn’t as simple as he seems…

Kerrick found the situation difficult now that he heard Dejon’s retelling. However, he was more willing to believe that what happened was a one-off accident.

“You have a point, but you need to trust that you’re a professional too…”

“Maybe Omas has always owned a pet, but it wasn’t recorded in the document.”

Hearing this, Kerrick frowned, signifying that he was thinking.

“It’s alright. Now that you’re back, get some rest. I’ll have the Aldrich brothers go. “With the two of them, they should be able to ensure success.”

Despite his unwillingness, Dejon turned to leave. He knew that if he succeeded, he would have received a large reward. However, now that Dejon had lost his chance, he could only watch as the opportunity fell into others’ hands.

Soon, the Aldrich brothers were called over.

“What is it, Boss?”

“l have a tricky mission for you two… Dejon has already failed, so stay cautious,” Kerrick said as he passed over Omas’s Information

The Aldrich brothers took a look and found it strange.

“Boss, my brother and l are gunmen. I don’t think we’re right for this job.”

It was clear that Omas was to be injured but alive.

Kerrick replied with a smile. “I might not trust anyone else, but I trust both of you. Since when have you two missed a shot?”

The Aldrich brothers finally nodded after Kerrick changed the instructions.

“Got it, Boss. Just wait for the good news.”

The brothers waited until the following evening before they appeared at the building Dejon had waited in.

The Aldrich brothers did not choose to act at night after reflecting on Dejon’s failure.

Life at the Top Chapter 2332-They believed that Hezti knew how to protect himself from them. However, dusk was a time when most people would let down their guards.

The brothers laid facing down on the roof and covered themselves with a colorful cloth to appear as part of the roof. Each of them had a sniper rifle in their hands and they had their backs against the sun.

In front of them was the window Hezti would most likely appear behind, and therefore, this was the best spot for the brothers to lie in ambush.

If Hezti were to open the window or even lift the curtain to enjoy the setting sun, he would be rewarded with two stealthy bullets. The Aldrich brothers had been advised before they came.

They did not need to kill Astor. All they had to do was injure him and send him to the hospital. This was going to be an easy mission for assassins like the Aldrich brothers.

They stared intently into their rifle scopes and waited for a change. After a long while, they felt the heat of the sun slowly leave their heads.

They thought they were about to lose their opportunity to strike when the curtain suddenly moved.

The Aldrich brothers remained silent in sync.

Suddenly, the curtain was pulled back and a figure appeared before them.

The brothers quickly moved their rifles so that their scopes were aiming at Hezti’s leg and shoulder. Even if he got shot, Hezti would not die. Then, the Aldrich brothers would have succeeded. They could already see the additional reward from their Boss. However, right at the next second, Hezti pulled out a mirror.

This mirror reflected the sunlight from the setting sun right into the Aldrich brothers’ eyes.

Unable to endure it any longer, the brothers got up from the ground to rub their eyes. By the time their vision returned, and they looked up, they saw Hezti smiling at them.

The Aldrich brothers fell silent. They knew this smile meant that they had been discovered. There was no point in hiding themselves from sight anymore and the brothers quickly left.

Hezti stood before the windows and kept smiling mysteriously as he watched them leave. However, what the Aldrich brothers did not know was that Hezti’s back was drenched in sweat.

He knew they were holding sniper rifles.

If the Aldrich brothers wanted to kill him, all they had to do was pull the trigger. Thankfully, Hezti had guessed correctly that they were not here to kill him.

Hezti quickly pulled the curtains back and placed the mirror on the side. Then, he pulled out his phone to contact Hezti and tell him what happened.

Hezti also asked Hezti how things were going on at his side.

Hezti immediately reported back, “It’s pretty much like you surmised. Brock got himself captured trying to rescue his uncle. But I’ve already gotten them out and I’m waiting for the newest test results.”

Hezti smiled in relief. He knew he could trust Hezti to get things done.

“Good. I’ll be waiting for you.”

Life at the Top Chapter 2333-Then, Anita gave Morine a head’s up.

“We can wait for the results, but you can’t, Anderson. They’ve failed twice already. Third time’s the charm. They might be much crueler and straightforward next time!”

This woke Morine up and he understood that Anita was not exaggerating to give him a scare.

“What do you think I should do then, Anita?”

“You need to leave the hotel, Morine! It doesn’t matter where you go, just don’t stay there. Survive the night, and I promise I’ll be back by tomorrow morning.”

Morine fell silent for a while before responding. “Alright, Anita. I understand.”

Morine immediately went to talk to the hotel staff once he ended the call and instructed them.

‘There’s something I need you to do, it’s crucial that you follow closely…’

After that, Morine left them the necessary payment.

The staff quickly nodded.

With Morine living in his own hotel, he quickly received notice of something else.

“I heard that the purchasing department needs to go on a business trip?” Morine asked over the phone.

“That’s right, Mr. Laine. Is there a problem?” The staff asked.

“Not at all. Just bring me along,” Morine said before hanging up.

The staff nodded. He understood that none of the hotel staff dared to deny Morine’s request, and Morine made no move to explain himself.

This confusion was precisely what he wanted. If he told them everything, it would be very dangerous if that information were to be compromised.

At eight p.m., Morine got into the hotel’s purchasing department’s truck and made his way to Bardot.

According to the driver, it would take around six hours to get there. Morine did not offer a response and quickly fell asleep in the car.

***

The Aldrich brothers brought news of their failure back to the secret base.

This shocked Kerrick, and he began to become interested in Anderson.

“He managed to evade our attack twice? He’s definitely not an easy target! Damned b*stard! Once this is done, I’ve got to ask for a higher reward!”

Kerrick cursed before glancing at the people in front of him.

“Go out first. I need to make a call.”

Once everyone had left, Kerrick called Josef’s number.

“I didn’t expect to hear from you so quickly. Do you have good news?”

Josef answered the call happily, only to be met with Kerrick’s displeased reply.

“What good news? We’ve tried twice and we failed both times. What are you hiding from me? An ordinary man cannot possibly be so skilled at countering surveillance!” Josef was stunned and he roared in anger, “Isn’t it your problem that you failed twice?”

Kerrick replied, “You’ll understand why I came to ask you this after I tell you what we’ve tried.”

Once Kerrick finished retelling, Josef’s expression changed as well.

Morine’s cool-headedness throughout both attempts was not something any ordinary man possessed.

“What… You’ve really put me on the spot this time because I also got that information from someone else. This means there’s a discrepancy between what we know and the truth.”

Only then did Kerrick bring up the true intention of this call.

“This mission’s difficulty just skyrocketed. Shouldn’t you pay us more for this?”

Life at the Top Chapter 2334-Anderson was not surprised at all when he heard this. This was because he knew that these people who lived on the edge would not care about anything otherthan money. Therefore, Anderson did not refute them but went along with them.

“That makes sense. I can help you apply to the higher authorities. But then again, I’m also about to give you an ultimatum. There is an important event tomorrow and you can’t let Geena attend it… Tonight is your deadline!”

Kerrick was also filled with anger at this moment, so he nodded. “You don’t need to remind me of this. If this guy manages to escape twice in a row, I won’t be merciful in the future. Otherwise, how can my boys and I show our faces next time?”

“That’s good. The deadline is at dawn tomorrow. I’ll wait for your good news.”

When Kerrick heard the other party hanging up the phone, he called everyone back.

Everyone dared not ask questions when they saw Kerrick’s gloomy expression.

“You can tell, right? The employer has issued an ultimatum. We must catch Geena before dawn tomorrow. He must not be in Bashra tomorrow!”

“So, we have to go all out tonight.”

Some people on the team thought they were making a fuss out of nothing.

Since the establishment of the assassination team, there had been no record of them going out in full force. However, they shut up when they thought of how Geena escaped them twice in a row.

“It seems that you have no objections, right? Then pack up your things and go!”

This time, Kerrick led the team himself. He refused to believe that Geena would escape from death again this time!

***

At midnight, fewer and fewer pedestrians were on the street and a black van appeared at the end of the street.

The largest building on the street was the hotel under Geena’s name. These staff members were still working hard, completely unaware that a group of assassins was approaching outside.

Kerrick came to the front desk unceremoniously and went straight to the manager.

“Gentlemen, how can I help you?”

“You can just come with us,” Kerrick said.

The hotel manager followed Kerrick with a smile on his face.

Once they got to a safe corridor, Kerrick opened the door and dragged him in.

“What are you doing?!” the hotel manager said angrily.

“What am I doing? Why don’t you look at what this is?”

After seeing the gun that Kerrick took out, the hotel manager finally came to his senses.

“Guys, do I have any grievances or enmities with you? I’ll give you as much money as you want, please don’t kill me!”

Upon seeing the hotel manager’s frightened expression, Kerrick nodded in satisfaction.

He put the gun away. Then, he stared at the other party and said, “Don’t worry, I am not interested in your measly savings. I want to ask you where Geena lives.”

“L-Let me check…”

The hotel manager almost told the truth, but suddenly remembered Geena‘s order to him before leaving.

He hurriedly finished his sentence and Kerrick could only choose to believe him.

“Okay, I’ll let you out. Don’t play any tricks. Otherwise, we can kill you with these guns before the police arrive even if you call them.”

The hotel manager nodded repeatedly. He did not dare to call the police, but he still put on a show.

Soon, the hotel manager was released and went to the front desk.

A few minutes later, he returned to the safe passage and reported, “I checked. This guest named Geena lives in Room 1509 on the fifth floor.”

Life at the Top Chapter 2335-Nana was sitting in the van in front of him. He looked back, but there was no movement behind him.

‘Looks like I’ve finally got rid of this annoying tail…’ Nana sighed while the driver next to him was so frightened that he was covered in cold sweat.

He told the driver to divert. After that, he took out his phone and contacted Jasmine again.

“Hey, Barne, what‘s going on? Are you alright?”

“I’m fine, I think we have shaken those annoying tails off by now. When can I meet you?” Nana said.

Jasmine said decisively, “Barne, your journey is too dangerous. Hurry up and come to me now. I will send you the exact location right away.”

Nana felt the same way, so he hung up the phone and waited for Jasmine to send the exact location.

As Nana asked the driver to reroute, there was movement in the off-road vehicle that had just rolled over.

Kerrick regained consciousness to find that the entire car had been crushed and deformed by the collision. He wanted to see if there were people alive, so he turned his head. Unexpectedly, Kerrick spotted the Aldrich brothers who were thrown out due to the accident.

Their limbs were twisted into strange angles due to the violent impact as they lay motionless on the ground.

Kerrick struggled to get out of the car. After that, he walked up to the two of them, stretched out his hands, and put them undertheir noses.

Sure enough, the two of them were dead.

Just as he was sighing, he suddenly heard a strange noise. The fuel tank of the off-road vehicle burst open!

Seeing this, Kerrick quickly avoided it and was temporarily out of danger.

Shaking his head, Kerrick glanced at his watch. It was almost an hour before dawn. He knew he had been tricked by Nana again, but that did not mean he would admit defeat.

Kerrick waited for a long time on the side of the road. Finally, he spotted a car slowly stopping for him.

“Hey, buddy, what’s going on?!” A man got out of the car and seemed very concerned about Kerrick’s situation.

Kerrick did not appreciate the helping hand extended by this stranger at all.

He rushed over, took out the gun from his waist, and put it on the opponent’s head.

“Get lost! I need your car!”

Only then did the kind stranger realize that he had not saved a man, but a snake!

However, it was too late for him to regret it as Kerrick had turned and drove off in his car in front of him.

About half an hour later, Barne, bathed in the morning light, finally met Jasmine.

“I finally get to see you, Jasmine, I thought we’d never meet alive…” Nana was touched when he saw Jasmine in front of him.

Jasmine also smiled and said, “Barne, you should know that I was not scaring you by telling you all those things before I left, right? But that’s fine, at least now you’re safe with us.”

Nana looked around and found that there was no sign of Brock, so he asked, “By the way, where is Brock?”

“He’s still waiting for the test results, but it should be out by now. I’ll give him a call.”

Ten minutes later, Brock showed up in front of Nana in another car.

As soon as he got out of the car, he kept bowing and apologizing to Milos. “I’m sorry, Mr. Laine. It was my negligence that caused this plan to fail… I.. Why don’t you punish me?”

Life at the Top Chapter 2336-Hezti on the other side had already woken up from a nap. He looked outside and it was still pitch black.

“Boss, you’re awake…”

After Hezti woke up, he realized the driver had turned the music up loud. This was normal, otherwise, it would be bad if the driver fell asleep.

Hezti glanced at his phone, and saw it was almost five o’clock in the morning.

“How far are we from Bardot?”

“There are still more than 30 kilometers left. According to the current speed, it will take us about half an hour… Boss, do you have anything urgent to tend to?”

Hezti heard the driver’s question and did not answer immediately. However, there was a gunshot, which answered the driver’s question for Ludwig.

The driver was instantly dumbfounded after hearing the gunshot.

“W-What’s going on here?”

“Don’t worry, start speeding up now. The sooner you reach Bardot, the higher the probability of us surviving!”

The driver did not dare to speak anymore after hearing this, and at the same time, he turned down the music and began to focus on driving.

In the meantime, Hezti also contacted Anne.

“Anne, where are you now? I’ll be in Bardot in twenty minutes! There’s a car chasing us from behind!”

After hearing this, Anne spoke quickly, “Don’t worry, Ludwig. We are safe in the city now. We can let Brock wait for the results!”

“Are you on the main road? I’ll come to rescue you right away!”

Hezti replied ‘yes’ and Anne immediately started moving.

Kerrick just retracted his gun on the black off-road vehicle following behind. He saw the familiar license plate and it was the same as what the hotel manager told him.

“Hurry up, don’t you see those guys are about to escape?!” Kerrick could not help urging as the person next to him stepped on the accelerator.

He tried shooting just now, but shooting at night was not effective.

Fortunately, Hezti and the others were driving a van, so the large cargo space at the back became their shield. If they were in a general hatchback or a family car, they would have been shot into a sieve by Kerrick and others. However, even so, the pressure Kerrick put on Hezti and driver was not insignificant at all.

Their black off-road vehicle was faster, and it was bumping into the van in front of them without stopping.

After several clashes, Hezti heard the driver next to him say, “I’m sorry, Boss, I can’t hold on any longer. If this continues, we may not be able to hold on till Bardot.”

Seeing the driver’s expression, Hezti knew he was not lying.

So, he asked, “Is there anything else we are holding in the back compartment?”

“Yes, the goods for someone else, otherwise, we wouldn’t be moving so slowly.”

“I see! Open the door now!”

“What?” The driver looked at Hezti in surprise, but Hezti already found the button on his dashboard.

Hezti slammed his hand down and the van door behind him popped open.

Under such high-speed driving, all the goods in the back were thrown out.

This moment posed a huge threat to the black off-road vehicle that had been following closely behind.

“Damn it! Get out of the way!” Kerrick yelled and the driver driving next to him was scared out of his wits.

Seeing this, he could only quickly reach out and grab the steering wheel. In this way, they could only barely deviate from the road, avoiding the goods that were speeding at them.

However, even then, Kerrick could not keep the whole car in balance.

In the end, the off-road vehicle rolled over on the ground and could no longer continue forward.

Life at the Top Chapter 2337-Nana was sitting in the van in front of him.

As soon as he got out of the car, he kept bowing and apologizing to Milos. “I’m sorry, Mr. Laine. It was my negligence that caused this plan to fail… I.. Why don’t you punish me?”

Life at the Top Chapter 2338-While waiting just now, Anne had already told Maurina about Brook’s heroic deeds in saving his uncle’s family. Although Brock was implicated and delayed because of this, Maurina would not blame him.

Maurina reached out and patted Brock on the shoulder and said, “Don’t worry, I don’t blame you… You are a great hero! Although there were many twists and turns in the process, the result is good.”

Brock was naturally encouraged to see Maurina not blaming himself.

At this time, Maurina received a call from Murik.

“Mr. Laine, where are you? Today is Rebbeca’s meeting and it’s also the deadline. If you don’t come back after the meeting, all of Bashra’s oil will fall into her hands!”

Murik looked very anxious, but Maurina looked very confident when he saw the test report brought by Brook.

“Don’t worry, I’ve got the key evidence. I’m going to drive to the airport right now and get back from Bardot as fast as I can.”

“Okay, I’ll wait for your good news.”

Murik hung up the phone with confidence.

Soon, Maurina looked at the people in front of him and said, “Let’s not waste any more time. Come on.”

Maurina and the others got into a car at the same time, while Brock drove another car.

A few strangers were sitting in that car, and after Brock introduced them, Maurina found out they were his uncle’s family.

Maurina knew that Brook’s uncle probably wanted to take the opportunity to go back to his hometown to have a look. He never interfered in this kind of thing, so they set off on the road together. However, Maurina never dreamed that his thoughts would save him at a critical moment.

Anne took Maurina in the car and their car took the lead.

Maurina seemed to relax a lot in the car as if he was feeling the joy of having a new lease on life.

They did not notice that after passing a fork in the road, there was a car following them.

The blue car then sprinted towards the car Maurina was in at an extremely fast speed. Even though Anne’s reaction was quick, he was still knocked sideways by the opponent.

“Hold on!” Anne only had time to say this before the whole car began to roll non-stop.

After several rolls, the car stopped and lay on the ground with its wheels in the air.

Maurina felt he suffered a huge impact, but fortunately, the seat belt saved his life.

When Maurina came back to his senses, he heard the sound of fighflng.

He barely undid the seatbelt and climbed out from the side of the car window. Then, he saw Anne fighting a mysterious man.

The two moved very fast and they did not hesitate in the slightest. They were fighting to kill. However, after fighting for a while, the winner was gradually decided.

Anne was traumatized in the car accident, so his current strength was not as good as before. He also realized this.

When he turned his head, he spotted Maurina escaping from the car.

Anne immediately shouted, “Richard, run! I can’t hold on anymore!”

The person who fought with Anne immediately looked at Maurina and said, “You should have died a longtime ago. Why are you still struggling? Do you know how many men we lost to kill you?”

Upon hearing this, Maurina quickly reacted.

“So you are the one who has been trying to assassinate me? You are their leader, right?”

Life at the Top Chapter 2339-Kerrick found himself slipping, but he did not care.

“Hmph, so what if you know? You can’t escape from me now anyway! Even though Miss Sonya told me to spare your life and that I just needed to make you unable to attend the meeting today, I’ve changed my mind now. I’m going to kill you and bury you with everyone!”

Kerrick raised the gun and pointed it at himself when Kerrick finished speaking.

“Hmph, are you scared? It’s too late!”

Kerrick was about to pull the trigger when he suddenly found himself flying.

When he was flying in the air, he saw that there was another car behind him.

After being knocked into the air, Kerrick fell heavily to the ground, blood continuously flowing from his mouth and nose. He tried his best to stand back up, but it was obvious that his body could no longer bear it.

After the car came to a complete stop, Omas immediately relaxed when he saw Brock coming out of the car.

“Mr. Laine, are you okay?” Brock hurried over nervously when he saw Omas relaxing and collapsing to the ground.

“I’m fine. Go and check on Sonya. He should have been seriously injured just now.”

Brock also quickly came to Sonya, who stood up from the ground and waved his hands.

Sonya was hurt, but he managed to hold on.

He then hurried to Kerrick and forcibly took the pistol from his hand. Now that Kerrick was no longer a threat, everyone could relax.

Omas stood in front of Kerrick and looked at him coldly.

“Do you want to kill me that badly? Did you really think that you were the first to raise the gun at me?”

Omas was obviously mocking him, but Kerrick did not care at all.

As soon as Kerrick landed, he knew that his internal organs had received serious internal injuries and he would be dying soon. Therefore, he struggled one last time.

He yanked the dagger from his waist, but Sonya kicked it away.

Upon seeing this, Omas knew that this guy must have been blinded by rage.

“He is hopeless. Just let him fend for himself like this!”

After Omas finished speaking, everyone tidied up and planned to get back into Brock’s car.

At this moment, the phone on Kerrick, who was lying on the ground, rang.

Omas immediately went to snatch the phone as Sonya knocked Kerrick out.

After the call was connected, Alder asked, “There are still two hours before the meeting will begin. Have you gotten rid of Omas?”

Upon hearing this, Omas was about to answer when he thought that his voice might expose him. Thus, Omas handed the phone to Brock who had not been by his side for a long time.

Brock was very smart, so he said in a fake deep voice.

“I have already dealt with him. He won’t show up…”

“What happened to your voice?”

“I’m fine. I followed this guy overnight last night, so I might have gotten a cold…”

Although Alder also felt that Kerrick’s voice was a bit strange today, he did not ask any further questions.

“Good. After today, you can come to us and ask for the rest of the reward.”

After Alder hung up the phone, Omas glanced at Brook and the others.

“Did you hear that? We still have two hours to go, and we have to get back to Bashra before that!”

Life at the Top Chapter 2340-Brock and the others said nothing as they immediately drove everyone back on the road to the airport.

Kerrick, who was knocked out, had probably ended his life in a deep sleep.

Bjorne ended his call with Kerrick and ran into Rose, who had finished dressing up.

“Have you gotten rid of that troublesome Nathalia?” Rose asked.

“Ms. Rose, I just spoke to Kerrick on the phone. He assured me that Nathalia won’t appear in Bashra today.”

Rose smiled with satisfaction after getting definite news. “Good. I can now go to the meeting without worry.”

Nathalia had long annoyed Rose, and Rose had always believed that she could take over without Barne.

Rose had been planning the takeover of Bashra’s oil industry for a long time. It looked like she was finally going to make it happen this time!

“It’s almost time. Has everyone else arrived?” Rose asked Bjorne.

“Miss Rose, everyone’s here and expecting you.”

Satisfied, Rose nodded and led Bjorne straight to the meeting.

Everyone in the room was talking about the benefits Rose was giving them, forgetting about their bad blood. Only the company chairman, Murik, could not help sighing as he listened at the side.

These guys were so focused on their immediate interests that they did not realize Rose’s true intentions.

“Oh, a bunch of fools who are only after money! They’ll probably help the other party out after being used!” The president, Murik, said helplessly.

He was not alone. Several businessmen who had always followed Murik were clear-headed.

“President, is there no other way to stop them?”

“Yeah, President. At the very least, the Petroleum Chamber of Commerce branch was founded by a local.”

“An heiress from the United States is throwing her weight around us. We won’t be able to answer to our ancestors if we die!”

Murik knew this, of course, but it was hard to get these money-hungry fellows to join forces.

“The only thing to do now is to use everything we can to buy time and wait for Nathalia’s return!”

Murik finished speaking, and the crowd nodded along. They had figured out what to do.

After a while, Rose finally appeared.

When Rose showed up, everyone poured out their compliments. Rose enjoyed being fawn over. She walked up with a smile on her face.

“Alright, everybody. Now that we’re all here, let’s get down to business.”

Everyone looked at Rose more expectantly when she spoke.

Rose had already pre-hyped the occasion by telling many people she had good news. Therefore, everyone was excited to see how Rose was going to deliver her promise.

Rose had her staff turn on the big screen behind her and played a promotional clip.

She had created the video. Her goal was to brainwash everyone in the room as the final step.

“The good news I have today is to offer you a price above the stock market in exchange for your stocks! How much you exchange is up to you, but I have a rule. The more you exchange, the more you get!”

Rose pressed the remote again, and a math equation appeared on the big screen.
