Married by Mistake – Chapter 2331

Ava paused. She immediately understood what Tom had in his mind. She let out a wistful sigh, and a wry smile appeared on the corner of her mouth.

“My parents abandoned me when I was very young, but recently, they’ve found me one after another.”

After Ava said that, they coincidentally came to a red light. The car stopped. Tom looked back at Ava with slight shock and regret in his eyes.

“If this is true, I really have a hard time believing that a talented person like Dr. Long would make such a serious mistake when he was young. Could this be a misunderstanding?”

“I don’t think so.” Ava denied it. “I asked them in person if they willingly abandoned me back then and they admitted it.”

After hearing Ava’s answer, Tom’s eyes were still filled with uncertainty.

“Perhaps sometimes what we see with our own eyes is not the truth.”

“But it’s a fact that they didn’t want me.”

After hearing what Ava said, Tom did not know what else to say. He stopped mentioning it again to avoid making Ava feel uncomfortable.

About half an hour later, Tom drove her to the gate of Old Whitman Manor according to the address given by Ava.

Madeline originally planned to go and pick Ava up, but Ava sent her a message half an hour ago saying that someone would be sending her back. Hence, Madeline went straight home. “No way.” Ava denied it. Then, she made a guess. “Maybe I’m only receiving this special treatment because of him.”

“Him?” Madeline was confused. Then, she started taking small steps toward the house with Ava.

Ava smiled bitterly. “It’s that amazing neurologist.”

“You mean your dad?”

Ava did not nod or shake her head when she heard that. Instead, she just smiled.

“Mr. Lowe just told me that his dad was always pestered by a stubborn headache, but he was cured after seeing that doctor. Maybe I’m benefitting from association with him and got myself a lift.”

“I see…” Madeline was rueful.

Ava wanted to say something more, but suddenly, Pudding appeared in front of her. A smile appeared on her face at once, and she quickly walked over to Pudding to pick him up.

Madeline smiled and also wanted to go over, but Jeremy suddenly appeared next to her and stopped her.

“Linnie…”

“Jeremy, when did you come back?”

“I just parked the car.” After Jeremy said that, he took out a pink invitation card from his pocket. “Linnie, look at what this is.”

Madeline took the invitation card from Jeremy suspiciously. After opening it, she saw that the name on the invitation letter was someone she didn’t know. However, the contents of the invitation letter surprised Madeline.

“Dan is going to marry Naya?”

In order to not waste any time, Madeline drove directly to Graham Manor the next day. As soon as she arrived at the gate, Madeline saw a big congratulations banner hanging above it. It was clear that what was said in the invitation letter was the truth.

Daniel and Naya’s marriage was real.

Madeline parked the car and walked toward the gate. Before she got close, she saw that the servants in the yard were busy making arrangements.

“Work faster. I hired you to work, so why are you so slow?” Daniel’s mother urged the servants impatiently.

After Daniel’s mother scolded and complained about the servants, she turned around and saw Madeline, who was walking in through the gate.

“Eveline?” Daniel’s mother was very surprised. She then turned around and walked toward Madeline. “Eveline, what are you doing in our house? You’re not welcomed here.”

“You’re right. This is Graham Manor, and it doesn’t belong to just you. So, that’s why I’m here to look for Dan and not you,” Madeline said and walked inside calmly.

Daniel’s mother was furious when she saw that Madeline was still stubborn. She immediately chased after Madeline. “Eveline, this is my house and I’m the matriarch of this house. I didn’t let you in, so who do you think you are to barge in? Somebody, hurry up and kick her out!”

“I asked her to come.” Daniel’s voice suddenly sounded in front of them.

Daniel’s mother froze in her tracks. When she saw Daniel standing not far away from them, she quickly ran over with a look of nervousness on her face. “Dan, did you remember something? Why would you ask this person to come here?”

When Daniel heard what his mother said, he asked with even more curiosity, “Are you saying that it’s more probable for me to invite her over after I remember something?”

“Um…” His mother did not know how to retort. “Not entirely. I just think that you don’t have much of a relationship with her, so there’s no need for you both to see each other. You’re just normal friends from university.”

Daniel’s mother was perfunctory with him. When she saw that Daniel was insisting on letting Madeline into the house, she did not say no. Instead, she quickly walked to one side and called Naya.

Daniel pondered thoughtfully as if he was digesting the information Madeline had just given him.

“Do you have no memory of the past at all?”

Daniel looked up and shook his head gently. “It seems that something is blocking the nerves to the part of my brain that’s associated with memory, so I can’t remember anything about the past. I have to think hard about it, but it’ll cause my head to feel heavy.”

“Then don’t think too hard,” Madeline suggested. “I know a doctor Who’s a very authoritative neurologist. He’s very confident that he’ll be able to cure you after he heard about your situation. Whenever you’re free, I can take you to see him.”

Madeline heard the footsteps and looked back. When she saw Naya’s hurried expression, she raised her pink lips slightly. “Miss Mendez, you came so quickly. Were you afraid that if you delayed for even a second, I would ruin your meticulous plans?”

Naya’s face sank, but since Daniel was here, she knew that she had to put on an act. She immediately responded with an aggrieved expression, “Mrs. Whitman, I really don’t understand what you mean by that. I know you and Ava are very good friends, but this is not how you should help your friend. You can’t slander me again and again.”

Daniel paused in his tracks. “I want to believe you, but can you tell me why you were quiet just now?”

Naya was speechless at that second. Then, she could only watch as Daniel left her and went upstairs. Naya clenched her fists in unwillingness when she recalled the trap Madeline had set for her. She clenched her teeth, but at this moment, there was no way for her to vent her anger.

“Great! After Madeline caused such a scene, Dan might really change his mind.” Daniel’s mother’s voice came softly from behind Naya.

She sounded as if she was saying that this was none of her business.

Daniel got up and unlocked the door before opening it. When he saw his mother looking anxious, he frowned. “What happened? Why are you in such a hurry to look for me?”

“Something bad happened to Naya!” His mother emphasized.

For some reason, Daniel was calm when he heard the words. He just felt inexplicably irritated.

“What happened to her?”

“She left a suicide note and attempted suicide by overdosing!” Danie’s mother did not look like she was joking. “She’s being rescued in the hospital right now. We’re not sure if she’ll be able to make it. Dan, you have to go check on her no matter what.”

When Daniel learned of the situation, he did not delay things. He grabbed his coat and rushed to the hospital with his mother.

The doctor came out of the emergency department the moment they arrived.

Naya’s mother did not think that Jeremy would retort to her like that. “You…”

“What? Is my son wrong?” Karen stopped being polite to Naya’s mother. “Look at you. You’re a lady from the upper class, yet you came here like a shrew. What is it that happened that can’t be discussed in a civilized manner?”

“Discuss in a civilized manner? How do you expect me to do that? My daughter took half a bottle of pills and attempted suicide after what your daughter-in-law said to her. We almost lost her. How do you expect me to talk calmly?”

A hint of doubt flashed across Madeline’s and Jeremy’s eyes when they heard this. However, Ava was surprised and confused. What did Maddie say that caused Naya to attempt suicide?

“What’s this? Why did you throw this at me?”

Ava suddenly said something. She handed Pudding, who was in her arms, to the maid. She walked in front of Naya’s mother with a serious look on her face.
