Ch. 1311..1315
Chapter 1311 Shermaine looked at Sylvia again and said with a sincere expression, “Mrs. Carter, Master Carter and | are innocent. We-*.
“Let's go, Charles,” Sylvia said to Charles. She did not spare Shermaine a glance and simply turned to leave. Charles sneered at Shermaine. “Sylvia is smart, so you can save your little tricks for the fools instead.” Christopher patted him. “Alright, that's enough.”
The two men then followed Sylvia out.
Shermaine frowned and immediately put on an aggrieved expression. “Assistant Bogard, you know that there‘s really nothing between Master Carter and me.”
Cliff comforted her, “I know. Mrs. Carter is still angry at Master Carter and only ignored you because of him. Don't take offense.” Shermaine pursed her lips. “I hope | don‘t end up affecting their relationship, or the guilt will eat me alive.”
Cliff smiled and raised his hand to pat her shoulder. “The innocent have nothing to fear. Mrs. Carter isn't an unreasonable person. Everything will be fine once Master Carter explains it to her. Let's go.”
“Okay.” As Shermaine walked away with him, a touch of smugness surfaced in her eyes. ET
She originally wanted to play out the scene where the foolish Charles bullied her, and have Odell play the part of the hero saving the damsel in distress. Ruth said that many men liked to play the knight in shining armor. As long as she acted realistically , she might be able to jump into Odell's arms and weep, making him pity her more. Unexpectedly, Sylvia turned up and even insisted on defending that fool and annoying Odell. However, what surprised Shermaine even more was that Odell stood up for her while disregarding Sylvia. Could this man also harbor some thoughts about her? Or was he already tired of Sylvia?
Whatever it was, Shermaine was very pleased. Sylvia, Christopher, and Charles took a car back to the Art Academy.
On the way back, Charles recounted to them how Shermaine set him up. After finishing, he fumed, “Not all beautiful women are kind-hearted. She's like a venomous snake, vicious and disgusting.”
Christopher sighed. “You said that there‘s no enmity
between you two, so why did she set you up like that?” Charles huffed, “How would | know? What rotten luck. | wouldn't have bothered with her if not for the fact that she looks similar to Sylvia.”
“Forget it. What's passed has passed. Think of it as a lesson and don't approach unfamiliar women again in the future.” “Definitely.”
The car quietened down.
Seeing Sylvia looking out the car window with a cold expression without speaking, Charles and Christopher both glanced at her. 11
Charles said in a small voice, “Sylvia, | get impulsive when I'm angry, so | was talking out of my *ss when | said that Master Carter and that secretary were having an affair. Don't let my words affect you.”
Sylvia pursed her lips. “I'm fine.” At that point, the car stopped in the academy parking lot. Sylvia pushed open the car door and got out.
Charles also got out and wanted to catch up to her to explain the situation to her, but Christopher pulled him back. “Just go back and rest. I'll talk to her.” Christopher then walked toward Sylvia.
When he reached her, he said in a low voice, “Sylvia, | know | have no right to say this, but you have to be on guard against other people. That secretary really looks similar to you, and her intentions are clearly not that straightforward . Many men can't resist the temptation either, so it's better if you are wary.” Sylvia‘s brows wrinkled. “I know.”
“Okay, then I'll leave now.” “Bye.”
Chapter 1312
Christopher walked straight toward the spot where he parked his car. Sylvia also walked toward the place she parked. She frowned tightly, and her chest felt suffocated, making it hard to breathe.
Even Christopher could see that there was something wrong with Shermaine , so it did not seem like she was overreacting. “Stop.”
Suddenly, a low and familiar voice rang out. Sylvia stopped and looked over.
A black MPV was parked just to her right. Odell‘s straight figure was leaning against the car, and his dark gaze was fixed on her. His face looked gloomy and seemed to exude unhappiness.
Sylvia‘s expression turned cold. She turned her head and continued to walk forward. 4
“| said, stop. Did you not hear me?” he called out to her again.
Not only did Sylvia pretend not to hear him, but she even quickened her pace.
Odell frowned and immediately stepped toward her, chasing after her.
Not far ahead was the car Sylvia had taken when she came over in the morning. Before he could catch up to her, she opened the door and got in.
Odell also reached out to pull the door open, but Sylvia immediately locked the doors. He glanced at her, then went around the car, intending to get in through the other door.
Sylvia then instructed the driver, Ben, “Drive!”
Ben looked conflicted. “Ma‘am, it's Master Carter outside. She said coldly, “I know. Drive now or I'll fire you.”
Ben was speechless. He had no choice but to start the car.
Thus, Odell had just walked over to the door and the other side, but the car drove away before he could even raise his hand to pull the door handle.
His expression darkened.
Then, he quickly walked back and sat in his car. He said coldly, “Drive. Follow that car in front.” The driver responded and started the car.
The two cars drove in tandem on the road.
Sylvia looked at the black MPV following them closely in
the rearview mirror, but her expression was cold as she remained silent. After a long time, the car drove into the old district. His car was still following hers.
She looked away
The moment the car stopped in front of the gate, she pushed open the door and got out of the car, then quickly walked into the gate. She grabbed the remote control from the bodyguard watching the gate and simply closed the gate.
IDU Ben, who was still in the car, was speechless.
Inside the black MPV that had come to a stop, Odell was also at a loss for words.
After a moment, he pursed his lips, pushed open the door, and got out of the car.
Sylvia said to the bodyguard watching the gate, “Don't let him in. If he comes in, I'll leave. In the future, there will only be one of us in the house at any given time!”
After saying that, she tossed the remote control aside and walked toward the house with her bag. She did not spare a glance at the man who had just gotten out of the car.
Odell pursed his lips and walked to the front gate. The bodyguard who was watching the gate was confused and obviously did not understand what was going on.
Odell looked at him. “Open the door.”
The bodyguard trembled and said, “But the madam said you're not allowed in.”
Odell‘s face turned cold. “Do you want to lose your job?”
The bodyguard murmured, “Madam is the one paying our salary now. She also gave us a hefty bonus last month.”
Odell was speechless. After choking for a moment, he said in a low voice, “So, you think that | can‘t order you guys anymore, huh?”
The bodyguard cowered and whispered, “Why don't you call the madam and admit your mistake? i'll open the gate for you right away as soon as she allows you to come in.”
Odell thought, ‘What mistake am | supposed to admit to? What did | do wrong?’
Chapter 1313
Chapter 1313 ‘It was she who didn't reply to my messages and blindly defended a colleague who was interested in her! | didn't even get angry at her, but what about her? Not only is she showing me attitude, but she’s also not letting me come home at all!
Asurge of anger welled up. Odell gave the bodyguard a cold look, then walked around the outer wall of the mansion toward the back door. A few minutes later, Ben and Odell‘s driver both followed him to the back door.
Odell looked at Ben and the driver. While the two pursed their lips and crouched down beside the wall, Odell backed up a few
steps. Then, he sprinted forward, using their shoulders as a springboard , and climbed up the wall in one leap. A few moments later, he landed firmly on the ground with both feet and walked toward the house with his long legs. At this time, Madam Carter had long since retired to bed, and the three little ones were in their respective rooms.
Isabel was also deep asleep. Flint was also sleeping soundly by his brother's side. Liam was reading, but he was always disciplined, so Sylvia did not have to say
anything to nag him. After Sylvia entered, she passed by their rooms one by one to check up on them, then went straight back to her bedroom.
There was still a fire burning in her chest. She dropped the clutch in her hand, subconsciously walked to the balcony, and looked toward the courtyard gate.
The gate was still closed, and the bodyguard was still guarding the gate. The car she rode in and his car were both parked outside the gate. His car door was closed, so she could not see what was going on inside. She guessed that he was still inside the car.
Sylvia only took a brief glance and went back to the bedroom. She removed the jewelry she was wearing and went into the bathroom.
The warm water soon sluiced from her head and washed over her body. She raised her face and closed her eyes. She wanted to let the water wash over her brain to calm it down so that she would stop thinking about the scene at the hotel.
However, just as she was about to empty her mind, there was a sudden creak. The bathroom door was pushed open. She immediately opened her eyes and saw the man who
was walking in. His black shirt and pants showed off his tall and straight figure, and his dark eyes looked over at her when he entered.
LLL
He stared straight at her without changing his expression.
Sylvia‘s face turned cold. “Who let you in? Get out!”
Nevertheless, he stood still.
Sylvia glared at him, took the bath towel on the nearby shelf and wrapped it around her body, then walked out barefooted. Odell narrowed his eyes.
When she passed by him, he reached out his arm, instantly embracing her.
She pushed him away.
With just a little effort, Odell wrapped his arms around her and held her tightly, not giving her the chance to break free.
Sylvia glared at him. “Let go!”
He looked down at her and asked in a low voice, “Where are you going?”
She said coldly, “I told you, if I'm in this house, you shall be nowhere here. If you're in this house, I'll be gone. It's none of your business where | go!”.
Odell frowned and said in a deep voice, “I'm your man.
Whose business is it if not mine?”
Sylvia sneered. “Heh. | would've forgotten | had a man if you didn't mention it.” How many days had she spent alone at home with the children and Madam Carter?
They finally managed to meet tonight, yet not only did he not side with her, but he had also been so strongly defensive of the little secretary behind him! Sylvia got angrier the more she thought about it and pushed him away hard. “Let me go and hurry off to your little secretary instead!”
Odell did not let her go. His voice also lowered. “Our relationship is that of a superior and his subordinate.” Sylvia sneered. “Is that so?”
“Yes,” he replied instantly. She then said, “I don't like her. Are you going to fire her?”
Chapter 1314 Odell frowned. “She hasn't made any mistakes at work, so | can't fire her.” “Then, find a reason to fire her.” “She does her job well. | can't find a reason for now.”
4
Sylvia said coldly, “Admit it, you just don‘t want to fire her!”
Odell pursed his lips, frowning deeply. His gaze was gloomy. It seemed like he was forcing down his temper. The strength of his arms around her was also obviously not as tight as before. Sylvia‘s heart instantly clenched. She pushed him away hard and strode out to the wardrobe while wrapped in a bath towel.
She grabbed the towel in front of her body with one hand to prevent it from falling and pushed open the cabinet with the other hand to get her clothes, intending to leave after getting dressed. “Where are you planning to go?” The man‘s gloomy voice sounded from the door. Sylvia ignored him and continued to take the clothes from the wardrobe.
LUI Odell's eyes darkened. In the next second, he stepped behind her and picked her up by her waist. Sylvia immediately raised her voice. “Odell Carter! Put me down!”
However, he ignored her and carried her out of the checkroom with a few large strides. He carried her to the bedroom and then pinned her to the bed.
Sylvia used her hands to push him away, but he pinned her hands above her head. “Let me go— mmph!” He lowered his head and blocked her mouth, not giving her a chance to speak again.
Sylvia was so angry that her chest hurt, but she could not fight him off at all. Not only was this damned man strong, but he also knew all her weak spots.
Before long, the quiet bedroom became full of movement.
It took a long time for the calm to return.
Afterward, with a red face, Sylvia turned her back to him.
Odell embraced her from behind, but Sylvia slapped his hand away. “Don't touch me!”
He directly wrapped his arms around her, pinning her flailing arms down as well. His chin rested against the
back of her neck. He closed his eyes and spoke in a low, husky voice, “Be good and don't be angry. It's been days since | gota good rest. Let me sleep for a while.” Sylvia's face heated up. It had been days since he got a good rest, but he had been so energetic earlier.
She felt his even but obviously tired breathing and pursed her lips, but in the end, she still could not get angry at him. Meanwhile, after returning to her place, Shermaine took her phone and made a call.
She told Ruth everything about her plot against Charles to make Odell save the damsel in distress, and how the situation ended with Odell and Sylvia quarreling on the spot.
On the other end of the phone, a middle-aged woman dressed in simple but elegant clothes listened patiently.
After a while, Shermaine said while blushing with a grin,” Aunt, do you think Master Carter is interested in me?”
Ruth was silent for a moment. “Listening to your description , it's possible he’s a little interested in you. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been so disrespectful to Sylvia just to defend you. But...”
Shermaine frowned. “But what?”
“But it's only because they already have conflicts that weren't solved before. That's why Odell didn't show her any respect and vice versa when something like this happened tonight.”
Shermaine‘s expression instantly flashed with displeasure. She did not agree with Ruth‘s words, but she said, “Maybe it was because | stopped her the last time she came to the office to find Master Carter. Master Carter wasn't polite to her back then either. She must still hold a grudge against me.”
“That's probably it.” Ruth smiled and said, “Sher, you're even better than | thought, but you're still young. Remember, you have to be patient. You were lucky in this incident tonight. Youd have been ruined if there was a surveillance camera in a corner that you missed.”
Shermaine frowned in annoyance and said, “I know, Aunt. | won't act so impulsively in the future.”

Chapter 1315
Shermaine looked at his still-cold face and quickly smiled. “That's great. I’m relieved,” she smiled brightly and spoke in a gentle tone.
She looked remarkably similar to Sylvia.
Odell‘s gaze was stunned for a moment, then he said, “Go out and do your own thing. Don't bother about anything else.” The words that sounded comforting made Shermaine’s heart rejoice, but she simply said, “Yes, sir.”
Then, she walked out.
Odell immediately closed his eyes to rest.
Shermaine had saved Madam Carter before and did not seem to have any other thoughts about him. Sylvia must be overthinking. He had always been strict with his subordinates , but he would not treat his staff who were serious about their work harshly.
When Secretary Ackerman returned, he would ask the HR department to arrange a more suitable position for Shermaine. Two more busy days passed.
That afternoon, at about two o’clock, a luxury MPV from Glanchester stopped outside the building entrance.
Ayoung man disembarked from the car.
The man wore a dark gray suit and a pair of gold-rimmed glasses. His figure was straight and slender while his skin glowed under the sunlight. His features were handsome, and he exuded a noble yet modest aura around him.
After getting out of the car, he did not rush in but instead reached out toward the rear seat. Then, he carried out a chubby two-year-old girl who was sleeping He moved gently, fearing that any sudden movement would wake her up.
Then, he stepped into the building. When the woman working at the reception desk saw him, she immediately blushed in infatuation, but she maintained her politeness and asked, “May | ask who you are looking for, sir?”
John smiled and said, “I'm looking for Master Carter.” LL
“Do you have an appointment?” “I'm John Stockton from Glanchester. You can ask his secretary to pass on the message to
him.” John Stockton? The staff was confused for a moment 12
before coming back to her senses, and she immediately called the president's secretary's desk.
Not long after that, she smiled and said to John, “Master Stockton, Master Carter would like you to wait for a moment. His secretary will come down to pick you up immediately.”
John smiled and nodded.
Soon, the elevator door opened, and a young woman in professional attire walked toward him with quick steps. 11
John narrowed his eyes when he saw her pretty face. Shermaine quickly walked up to him and said with a smile, “This way, Master Stockton.” John glanced at her again. “Sure.” He carried Caprice toward the elevator.
Once inside , he looked at Shermaine again. His gaze was gentle and polite, but it was unspeakably sharp and oppressive. After a brief pause, Shermaine could not help but ask,” Master Stockton, why are you staring at me?” John glanced at her nametag and asked, “Are you and Mrs. Carter related?”
ILI
Shermaine's gaze flashed as she smiled back at him. “I've met Mrs. Carter a few times. She's an exceptional and beautiful woman, but | have no relationship with her.”
John pursed his lips. His eyes fell on his daughter's cute little face, and he did not look at Shermaine anymore. Shermaine frowned. ‘Why is the richest man in Glanchester asking me this? Is it because Sylvia and | resemble each other?
Soon, the elevator reached the top floor. John walked out with Caprice in his arms and went straight to Odell's office door, pushing it open. Shermaine stood outside the door and did not follow him.
Odell was handling business in the office. When he heard the sudden movement of the door, he knitted his brows and looked over with some displeasure. Upon seeing John, he asked, “Why didn’t you knock?"
