Ch. 1466..1470

Chapter 1466

Meanwhile, at a fine dining restaurant, Caprice sat on the child seat by the window, her small hand holding a spoon and slowly eating her meal.

John sat beside her, having just finished eating, and put down his cutlery. The little girl had only eaten half of her meal. She would most likely take another half hour to finish.

He leaned back in his chair and picked up his phone. His fingers subconsciously clicked on Sherry’s social media, only to see that the post from this morning was gone.

The screen was blank. Did she delete her photo?

John’s expression sank for a moment, then he smiled again. Her honey trap had succeeded, so she stopped showing the picture to him.

The next day, at 3 p.m., Sherry finished a meeting and her day's work. She was mulling over the reason she could use to look for Caprice when she suddenly received a

message from John.

He sent a voice message. “I’ve read the letter of intent.

Come see me now. | want to talk to you face to face.”

Sherry’s expression lit up, and she immediately replied, ”

Okay, I'll come over now.”

The hotel was not far from Stockton Tower.

Ten minutes later, she arrived.

She walked straight into the lobby, passed by the reception desk, and said, “Hello, my name is Sherry Fowler. I’m here to see Master Stockton for a meeting. He

told me to come over.”

The staff smiled back at her. “Hello, Ms. Fowler. | know you. Peter informed us that you'll be coming over.” Sherry smiled. “Then, I'll go straight upstairs.”

After saying that, she headed toward the elevator.

The staff hurriedly called out to her, “Ms. Fowler, Master Stockton wants you to wait for him in the conference room on the third floor. Please come this way with me.”

Sherry frowned. “He wants me to go to the conference

room?”

The staff smiled and said, “Yes.” He then walked out of

his workstation and stood in front of her.

Sherry held her breath and followed him to the

conference room.

After waiting for almost half an hour, footsteps came from outside the door.

Peter pushed the door open, and John’s slender and straight figure walked in with him.

Sherry looked behind him.

John sat down opposite her and asked with a smile, ‘ What are you looking at, Ms. Fowler?”

(

Sherry was somewhat upset and asked bluntly, “Where’s Caprice?”

John maintained his smile. “We're going to be talking

about business. It’s not convenient for her to be here.”

Sherry frowned. “You're doing this on purpose.

It was impossible that he did not know that she wanted to

see Caprice. John raised his brows. “What are you talking about?”

Then, he leaned lazily on the chair and looked at her, asking, “Does Sager Corporation not want to cooperate with me anymore?”

Sherry held back her anger as she looked at him. “What

did you want to talk to me about, Master Stockton? Is

there anything about the letter of intent that you're not satisfied with?”

He continued to lean languidly on the seat. “I can see your sincerity, but there are indeed some changes that need to be made.”

Sherry quickly asked, “What changes?”

John picked up a teacup and took a sip of tea, appearing incredibly leisurely and carefree.

After putting down the teacup, he took the letter of intent and slowly flipped it over like he was admiring a piece of art. Sherry was speechless.

Awave of irritation surged to the top of her head, and she growled, “Can you hurry up?”

John looked at her. “Is that the attitude Sager

Corporation should show when asking others for a partnership?”

Sherry rolled her eyes at him. “If you really want to collaborate with Sager Corporation, then please hurry up. If you don’t want to collaborate, return the letter of intent to me!”

Sager Corporation and Stockton Tower’s collaboration was bound to be a strong alliance. It would be a win-win situation for both parties.

Chapter 1467

Sherry would not bend over to please John.

If he was in his right mind, he would not give up the partnership with Sager Corporation.

John was stunned. This was the first time someone who wanted to collaborate with him dared to give him attitude. After a moment, he laughed. “Sherry, do you think the cooperation with Sager Corporation is very important to me?” “If it’s not that important, then give me back the letter of intent.” Sherry held out her hand as she spoke.

John was speechless.

After choking for a moment, he lifted the corners of his lips again. “How do you plan to explain it to Sager Corporation if you fail to cinch the partnership with me?”

Although she was the president of Sager Corporation and was very influential, she was still working for the Sager family.

Sherry met his evil and calculating gaze and smiled at him. “I'll tell them you rejected me because of a personal grudge against

me. “Heh...” She would blame it on him? That was quite resourceful.

He said, “Then, what if | call Madam Sager directly and tell her it's because you don’t want to work with me no thanks to your arrogance?”

Sherry imitated his sinister smile and replied, “I'll say that you deliberately set me up to frame me.” He lifted his lips. “Are you so sure that Madam Sager will believe you?”

“Positive.” Sherry crossed her arms and also leaned back in the seat, raising her brows at him. “If you don’t believe me, you can contact her now.”

John snorted. “Heh. Do you believe me if | say I'll never let you see Caprice again?” Sherry was speechless. Her throat choked up, and her face reddened in anger.

John took another sip of tea. Seeing her remain silent, he asked with a smile, “Are you in a rush to leave, Ms. Fowler? If you are, I'll return the letter of intent to you now.”

She gritted her teeth. “I’m not in a rush. I’m in no hurry at all. You look over it slowly and talk to me in your own time. There’s no problem even if it takes a year.”

John laughed. “Good.”

Then, he slowly flipped through the letter.

Sherry swallowed down her anger.

This damned man should just get struck dead by lightning!

It was already dark when they came out of the conference room.

If not for some urgent matter that he had to deal with personally, he would have delayed it until midnight.

However, he really did put forward a few useful suggestions to Sherry. She recorded all those recommendations in her notebook. When he got up and went out, she stood up and followed him.

Then, he suddenly stopped outside of the conference room.

Sherry did not manage to stop in time, thus her forehead hit his back.

He was obviously unprepared as well. His straight figure was thrown off balance, and he stumbled two steps forward.

He glared back at her.

Sherry’s forehead throbbed from the impact. When she saw him, she immediately looked at him with displeasure. “Why did you stop?”

John looked at her coldly. “You're the one who bumped into me.”

Sherry’s eyes flickered, and she said, “I wouldn’t have bumped into you if you didn’t suddenly stop or if you had told me that you were going to stop.”

John narrowed his eyes. “So, you’re saying that | should apologize to you?”

“That’s not necessary.” Sherry smiled at him. “Just let me see Caprice.”

John laughed. “In your dreams.”

Then, he turned and walked forward quickly. He was obviously in a rush to handle other matters.

Sherry gritted her teeth and continued to follow him.

However, immediately, he suddenly turned around.

Sherry almost bumped into him again and took two steps back.

He looked at her with a smile. “If you keep following me, I'll tell the security guards to tie you up and throw you out.”

Sherry glared at him, then strode toward the gate.

Chapter 1468

Chapter 1468 Outside, it was dark and cold.

Sherry really missed Caprice. She did not leave. Instead, she crouched in the dark, wrapped in a thick down jacket, hoping to see Caprice when she came out with John.

However, even after a few hours and there were no people left on the road, she did not see John bring Caprice out.

There were several times when she had spent the night at Sager Corporation when something urgent cropped up. Something mostly likely really did happen to that man, so he might not leave the office tonight.

Sherry stopped squatting there. She touched her empty stomach and called a taxi back to the hotel. Two days later, at around 4 p.m., she heard from him again. He said that he had read her revised letter of intent for partnership and wanted to go through the details.

Sherry rushed to Stockton Tower but was escorted to the conference room again. It took another half an hour for John to come. Then, he wasted her time until the evening and did not allow her to go upstairs with him afterward.

Sherry missed Caprice, but she endured it. Then, another day passed.

She had just gotten back from a bistro when she received a message from him, saying that he wanted to talk to her further about collaborating.

Sherry did not even eat lunch and rushed straight over.

However, she was taken to the conference room again, and it took another half an hour before John walked in with elegant steps.

Sherry forced herself to curl her lips at him. Her smile was cold and fake, and slightly twisted. John was stunned but smiled at her, saying, “Sorry for ...the wait, Ms. Fowler.”

Sherry sneered in her heart. “It’s fine.” Her smile was still very stiff and fake.

John paused. “You don’t have to smile if you don’t want to.”

Sherry immediately put away her smile and looked at him coldly.

He gave a low chuckle and sat down opposite her. Like the previous two times, he first drank two sips of tea, then unhurriedly flipped through the printed documents.

Sherry sat without moving.

Time slowly ticked by.

Unsurprisingly, he had not gotten to the point even when evening came. He was still sipping on his tea slowly. Agrowl sounded.

It was her stomach grumbling in hunger.

John, who was drinking tea, looked dumbfounded.

Standing by the side, Peter was also confused.

They both looked toward Sherry.

John put down his cup, looked at her with a smile, and asked in a puzzled tone, “What was that sound? Did you hear that, Ms. Fowler?”

Sherry was speechless. Her anger rushed straight to her head.

Bam!

She slapped the table and stood up. “It was my goddamned stomach!” Her voice was even louder than the sound of her slapping the table.

Peter was stunned, and so was John.

Sherry clenched her hands into fists and glared at him coldly. “You damned man, when exactly will you let me see Caprice?!” She thought that he had had enough after tricking her for two days, but she did not think he could still toy with her today.

She had rushed over without even eating lunch, but instead, she had to appreciate him slowly drinking his tea and see him leisurely flipping through the documents.

What was that supposed to mean?

He treated her like a circus monkey!

The large conference room was quiet.

Peter was so shocked that his eyes were wide. He obviously had never seen Sherry lose her temper like that. John pursed his lips in silence. Not long after that, he asked, “Are you hungry?”

“I'm not hungry. | want to see Caprice!” Sherry glared at him fiercely. It was as if she would kill him if he refused to let her see Caprice again.

John was silent for a while longer, then smiled at her.” Caprice is sleeping. She can’t see you right now.”

Bam!

Chapter 1469

Sherry kicked over the chair she had sat in all afternoon and walked out.

John frowned. “Where are you going?”

She ignored him, opened the door, and stormed off.

John glanced at Peter. “Go have a look.”

Peter quickly jogged out. After a while, he pushed the door and came back.

John looked at him. “Where did she go?” Did she rush into the elevator to find Caprice? Peter replied, “She went straight to her car and left.”

John’s expression darkened.

She left?

Inside a car that was driving on the road, Sherry sat in the back seat with her hands in her pockets, glaring coldly in front. She cursed John in her heart.

When the car took her back to the hotel, her mood calmed down a little. She got out of the car and walked into the hotel with her hands in her pockets.

She planned to order takeout and then think of how to meet Caprice. Unexpectedly, she saw Carl just as she walked into the hotel.

Sitting on the sofa, he wore leather boots, a long black leather coat, and sunglasses on top of his head. His feet were kicked up on the coffee table in front of the sofa. His face seemed a little moody.

However, he smiled the moment he saw Sherry.

He jumped up and walked over to her, looking her up and down. “I’ve been waiting for you all afternoon. Why are you only back now?”

“| got delayed.” Sherry asked him, “Why were you waiting for me?” Carl smiled. “It’s nothing. | notice that you’re tired from work and want to take you out for some drinks to relieve your stress.”

Sherry would have refused him at any other time, but she did feel like drinking a little to relieve her depressed mood for the past few days.

In Stockton Tower, after Sherry left, John returned to his office.

Caprice had woken up long ago and was playing a game with his secretary. When she saw him coming, the little girl stood up and trotted toward him.

John immediately bent down and picked her up.

Then, he asked her, “Are you hungry?”

The little girl nodded. “A little.”

“Let's go eat then.”

“Okay.”

He picked up the girl’s thick jacket and carried her out.

When he walked out of the building, Caprice suddenly asked, “Daddy, why isn’t Mommy coming to see me?” She usually did everything slowly. Her little face had an innocent expression, and she generally did not show any other emotions. However, at this moment, her large eyes were obviously downcast.

John was silent for a moment and asked, “Do you miss your Mommy?”

“Yeah.”

“Then, Daddy will contact her later and ask her to come to you.”

The girl’s eyes lit up. “Okay.”

John smiled and stroked her little head.

Since Caprice missed her, he would give her a chance to see Caprice tomorrow.

Before long, Sherry arrived at a secluded and elegant restaurant in Carl's sports car.

He most likely spent a lot of time strolling around Glanchester the past few days. This intimate restaurant was clearly a hidden gem. The dishes were extraordinarily refreshing and much more delicious than the signature dishes of other restaurants.

The boss also brewed his own fruit wine. In fact, the peach blossom wine and mulberry wine were so superb that Sherry drank two bottles in one go.

Carl curved his almond—shaped eyes at her. “Sherry, don’t get drunk or I'll have to carry you back. Don’t blame me if something accidentally happens between us.”

Sherry imitated his smile. “If you don’t shut up, don’t blame me for accidentally bashing your head open.”

Chapter 1470

Under the light, her cheeks were red from the alcohol. Her charming eyes reflected a shimmery light, and with her crafty appearance, she looked too beautiful to be true.

Carl was stunned for a moment, then he blinked and said with a smile, “I'll shut up now. Go on, keep drinking.”

Sherry tilted her head and drank another cup, then picked up a piece of meat and shoved it into her mouth. The light reflected on her scarlet face, bright and beautiful.

Carl unknowingly went into a daze as he stared at her. Meanwhile, they were separated from the outside by a glass window.

John carried Caprice out of the car and was about to enter when he saw this scene through the window. His footsteps froze, and his eyes narrowed behind his glasses.

When he saw her and Carl talking and laughing, his face instantly went cold.

“Daddy, it’s Mommy.” In his arms, Caprice suddenly pointed at Sherry behind the window.

John composed his expression and hummed.

In the next second, there was a knock on the window as Caprice’s small hand smacked the glass. John froze.

Inside the restaurant, Sherry was drinking when she suddenly heard the sound of tapping on the window. She was startled and turned over to look.

Then, she suddenly saw a cute little face appear in front of her eyes.

The little girl smiled and showed off her small teeth, calling sweetly, “Mommy...”

Sherry’s eyes widened. “Caprice?”

Then, she immediately stood up and ran outside.

Carl was still bewildered.

Mommy?

The chubby little girl that John was holding was her daughter?

John and she had a daughter together? Why did the information he had people check on her not mention that fact?

Sherry forgot to put on her jacket and ran straight out. The cold wind made her shiver, but it could not dampen her excitement at this moment. She ran all the way to Caprice and John.

Just as she raised her hand, the little girl also reached out toward her.

Sherry’s eyes lit up as she took Caprice into her arms.

“My baby Caprice, | missed you so much.” Sherry was just about to kiss her little face.

However, a large hand suddenly rested on Caprice’s face, directly blocking Sherry’s mouth. Sherry frowned and looked at him. John stared at her grimly. “Don’t touch Caprice with your stinky mouth.”

Sherry was displeased. “My mouth doesn’t stink. Did you smell anything?” 1

John looked at her scarlet face. “You reek of alcohol. | smelled it when you ran over.” “| was drinking mulled wine!”

“It's still wine.”

Sherry held back her anger.

Forget it. She was content to be able to see and hold Caprice. She would not bicker with that man. She looked at Caprice and said with a smile, “Caprice, did you come here for dinner too?”

Caprice hummed. “What do you like to eat? Mommy will eat with you today, okay?” Caprice answered softly, “Okay.”

Sherry immediately carried her inside without looking at John. It was as if she was afraid that the girl would be taken away by him if she was too slow.

John watched her excitement as she held Caprice. The corners of his lips curled up, and he followed her in.

Meanwhile, Sherry had just carried Caprice inside when they ran into Carl.
