Ch. 1516..1520

Chapter 1516

Sherry scrambled for a response. When she turned around, John was staring at her intently with a gentle glow in his eyes. She felt a well of uncertain emotions and ended up telling him, “I know, | won't just let myself get pushed around.”

She did not need him to look out for her.

John suddenly grew morose and said, “Alright, good to know. Take Caprice back to your room. We'll see if something good happens tomorrow.”

Something good tomorrow?

“What do you mean by that?” Sherry’s curiosity was piqued.

John made a strange look.

As if to say: Wouldn't you like to know?

Sherry made a look, then she swung around and went back to her room with Caprice. John chuckled to himself and went to his room as well.

The first thing Sherry did was to help Caprice settle in for the night. With Aunt Wanda’s help, they helped Caprice wash up and changed her into a set of clean pajamas.

Then, she took Caprice to bed.

Caprice fell asleep again the moment her head landed against the pillow. Meanwhile, Sherry went to the shower, it was her turn to clean herself up.

After she came out of the shower, she changed into a set of pajamas and dried her hair before she returned to the bedroom.

She stepped out of the shower to meet John lying lazily on her bed in a set of pajamas. He lay next to Caprice and held a book in hand.

He looked very cozy lying on the bed and acted as if it was his bed.

Sherry frowned disapprovingly and asked, “Who said you could come in here? Get out of bed and go back to your room. | want to sleep.”

John merely peered at her. “Sherry, this is my house. | can sleep wherever | want. If you’re not happy with me being here, the door is right there.”

Sherry nearly went blank with rage. She could not parry with a counter—argument although this room was rightfully hers.

“Either | sleep with you and Caprice here, or else I'll take Caprice back to my room while you stay here.” John smiled coyly. “The choice is yours.”

Sherry took a deep breath and walked to the other edge of the bed. She climbed in without a word and gently lay down next to Caprice.

The room was engulfed in silence. John directed his attention back to his book, hardly sparing a glance in Sherry’s direction. This time, it was Sherry who was stealing glances at him.

The past two nights, he would only join her in the bed after she had fallen asleep. Tonight, with him being here while she was still awake, she realized she had trouble falling asleep.

She tossed and turned in bed until midnight.

She suddenly broke the silence and said, “Hey, Young Master Stockton, would you mind going back to your room first and only coming back here after | fall asleep?”

John looked at her, and a hint of irritation flashed past his eyes.

Sherry suddenly grinned and said flatteringly, “The magnificent radiance emitted from your noble self is too blinding, | can’t fall asleep like this ”

John chuckled. “Heh... Do you need my help in falling asleep?” What sort of help?

Sherry asked suspiciously, “How can you help me?”

John set the book aside and gestured for her to approach. “First, you need to come over here.”

Sherry was immediately alarmed by this approach. She immediately turned around to face the other side of the bed and wrapped the quilt tightly and protectively around her body.

He had already tricked her once back in the car, so it was not going to happen again! She was not to be taken advantage of! John smiled, took off his glasses, and set them on the nightstand. Then, he flicked a switch to turn off the lights in the room. The room immediately descended into a thick sheet of darkness.

Sherry could hear the soft ruffle of the bedsheets when John lay against the bed and after that, remote

silence.

Surely he would not try anything weird, right?

If he was going to do something, he would have done it sometime during the last two nights when she was asleep.

She told herself to stop worrying. Before long, she had drifted off to sleep.

Unbeknownst to her, the man laying on the other side of the bed was staring at the ceiling, his eyes wide open without the slightest hint of sleep within them. He seemed slightly flustered as if there was something deeply bothering him.

At one point, Sherry woke up naturally, it was already daytime.

She realized that she was the only one left in the room.

Chapter 1517

Chapter 1517 John and Caprice were nowhere to be seen. They must have left.

She was just about to pluck herself out of bed when she heard a stampede of footsteps approaching. She heard a sweet familiar cry coming from outside her room. "Good morning, rise and shine, Aunt Sherryl” "Rise and shine, the sunlight is going to burn your butt if you don't wake up!" Another voice chimed in. It was

the voice of a child.

Sherry was caught off guard

Such familiar voices, could it be Isabel and Flint?

Thump!

She hopped out of bed and sprang out of the room without bothering to put her slippers on

In the living room were John and Odell sitting at the tea table and having a conversation

Liam was finicking some toys in the corner of the living room. At one point, Caprice joined him and stared at him in awe.

After waking up Sherry, Isabel and Flint returned to Queenie’s side and continued playing with her.

Sylvia was the only one next to the door when Sherry flung it open

The two immediately made eye contact.

"Sylvia!" Sherry threw herself in Sylvia’s arms the moment she saw her.

So this was what John was talking about when he was being all mysterious last night.

It was certainly a wonderful surprise!

It took a while before she was finally willing to let go of Sylvia as she exclaimed with joy, "Sylvia, | miss you so much!" Sylvia teased her. "President Sherry, if you miss me so much, why didn’t you come to pay me a visit?"

Sherry shrunk with guilt upon hearing this. "| wasn't trying to avoid you. | just haven’t had time to get to it yet, and there’s so much going on."

Sylvia gave her a suspicious look. "Sylvia, | was wrong. | promise to never hide anything from you again."

She was going to pay her a visit at Westchester so they could talk face to face, but Sylvia and Odell just happened to be out of town at the time. After that, there was a string of events at Manchester and so she never managed to get around to it.

Sylvia smiled and forgave her. "| get it. Come on, go wash up." "Alright, give me a second." Sherry pranced into the bathroom. Sylvia peeked into the room.

Her room seemed more cozy and homely compared to her previous living situation when she was with John. There were even some adorable plushies at the head of the bed.

It seemed like Sherry was doing much better these days. Sylvia was comforted to see this. She remained by the door and waited for Sherry. Meanwhile, things were only getting livelier in the living room.

Isabel was cuddled up with Queenie as they watched a tv show together. Flint was not interested in the show so it did not take long before he decided to crawl toward Caprice and join in on the fun.

Caprice was still intently staring at Liam playing with his toy, and she barely acknowledged Flint's presence.

Then, Flint went to Odell and John. He mumbled something incoherent, which earned him a warm smile from John who patted his head gently.

Shortly after that, Odell sent Flint away to play with his siblings.

Flint sighed and went away. This time, he waddled up to Syivia and wrapped himself around her thigh. The boy demanded attention from his mother. Sylvia smiled charmingly and asked him, "Flint, why aren't you playing with your brothers and sisters?” Flint muttered, "I want Mommy."

Sylvia knew exactly what was on her child's mind. He must be bored out of his mind since his siblings did not want to play with him, which led him to her in the

end She did not point this out

Shortly after that, they heard brisk footsteps approaching.

Sherry had freshened up and changed into a nice outfit.

Flint immediately complimented her, "Wow, Aunt Sherry, pretty!”

Sherry swiftly took Flint into her arms and smooched him on the cheeks.” Flint, you have a sweet tonguel You sure are learning fast!” Flint grinned. "Hehe"

He was adorable.

Sherry immediately planted a few more kisses on his cheeks, rewarding him for his compliments.

Chapter 1518

With that, Sherry and Sylvia brought Flint to the living room,

When Isabel and Queenie noticed them approaching, they set the tablet aside. Odell and John similarly set down their teacups and tured to the pair of mothers Liam was still busy fiddling with his toys intently, with Caprice still staring at him.

John called out to Caprice to get her attention, "Caprice."

Caprice seemed like she was finally pulled out of a trance. She turned to John with a dazed look in her eyes.

John smiled at her. "Come to Daddy.”

Caprice suddenly tuned away from him and went back to staring at Liam.

John was speechless.

He rose from his seat and went to get Caprice.

Odell, who was seated across from John, rose as well, and he went to Liam.

"Come on, Liam, we're going out. Take Caprice with you."

He said in a solemn voice.

Only then did Liam direct his attention away from his toys and met Caprice's bright and reflective eyes.

There was not even a ripple of emotion on his face as he quietly set down the toy and put a hand out toward Caprice. Caprice was overjoyed and immediately took Liam's hands.

Liam led her outside.

Odell cracked a smile, then he turned to John. "Isabel and Liam help take care of Flint most of the time so you don't have to worry. I'm sure he'll take good care of Caprice."

John smiled pleasantly. "I'll leave it to Liam then." Odell said, "It's his duty as the eldest."

John chuckled.

“What are you two talking about?" Sylvia and Sherry approached.

Odell smiled and mentioned, "We were talking about Liam and Caprice."

Sylvia looked at Liam and Caprice.

Liam was leading Caprice by the hand and walking outside.

The girl seemed fascinated by everything around her and would cast the occasional glance at Liam. Sylvia caught on to what the men were talking about and gasped. "Ohh."

Sherry noticed as well

Caprice was not the only one by Liam's side. Flint was also tailing Liam on his other side.

Queenie and Isabel followed them.

In the midst of them all, Liam looked like the leader of the pack. The one thing that stood out was Caprice. She looked like she was completely enchanted and did not know how to react to the situation.

Sherry tried to call after her, "Caprice!"

Liam stopped and so did Caprice, but her eyes were still fixed intently on Liam. It was questionable whether she had even heard her mother calling her name at all.

Sherry smiled sheepishly.

She did not blame Caprice for being completely mesmerized by Liam. Even at his young age, it was clear that he had inherited his father's charms, and he was sure to be a model when he grew up.

Sherry let Caprice be and turned to John. "Where are we going to take the kids today?"

John answered, "We're going to the park south of the city.” With that, he held out a hand to her.

He wanted her to take his hand

Sherry made a look and ignored him, pretending to not notice. She shuffied to Sylvia instead and took her arm. John scowled and pulled his hand back.

The park was far larger than they imagined

There were all kinds of games set up for parents to play with their children to facilitate parental interaction with their children. Aside from that, there were cafes, teahouses, and

even hostels. John was a VIP member here.

As soon as they parked at the entrance, several staff members approached After getting out of the car, Isabel and Queenie took Flint and bolted inside. Liam walked inside calmly with Caprice next to her.

Sherry wrapped herself tightly around Sylvia's arm,

John and Odell slowly trailed behind them

It was looking like a mighty fine day.

Chapter 1519

Chapter 1519 By the time Sherry and Sylvia joined them, Isabel, Queenie, and Flint were already bunched together inside a go-kart and were racing on the driveway.

Caprice seemed keenly interested in Liam as she followed Liam wherever he went. When he chose somewhere to sit and watch everyone play, Caprice proceeded to sit silently

next to him. Sherry called after her a few times and she barely responded Sylvia smiled and assured Sherry. "Don't worry, Liam can take care of her."

Liam seemed very unapproachable and indifferent most of the time but deep down, he was very attentive and caring. He was always the responsible brother and took good

care of his siblings at home. Caprice was very well-behaved and quiet, especially for her age. She was very easy to care for. Sherry was not against it as children should be allowed to play with their peers. Besides, they had a crew of bodyguards at earshot so there was nothing to worry about.

She smiled and dragged Sylvia somewhere else to find something interesting to do. After loitering in the area for a while, they realized that there was nothing suitable for adults

in the area. All the amenities were specifically designed to cater to children John and Odell followed them on the leisurely walk.

Just as Sherry was pondering about where they should go, one of the men behind them suddenly suggested, "I think there's a lounge somewhere around here where we can

play some chess and cards. They serve wine and tea as well. Master Carter, what do you say we head over there?" Chess and card? Wine?

Sherry and Sylvia stopped in unison.

Odell glanced at them and was very receptive to the idea. "Sure.”

The two men head toward the lounge together.

Sherry exchanged a look with Sylvia and asked, "Sylvia, shall we join them?" "Let’s! It's cold outside.’ They followed them.

Shortly after, they arrived at the lounge which was right next to a large lake.

It was on the second floor and from this vantage point, they could see the children playing.

For some reason, there were not many people inside the lounge even though it was cold outside.

As soon as they came inside, several staff members came up to greet them. It seemed like they had been in position for a while.

“Master Stockton, Master Caster, what table games would you like to play?” one of them came up and asked with a welcoming smile.

John turned to Sherry and Sylvia. ‘What would you girls like to play? Sherry gestured. "No, we're not playing, we just came here to take a look."

She was eyeing the wine cabinet hungrily as she said this.

Sylvia smiled, then turned to John and Odell. "You boys can play, we'll just drink." John smiled. "Alright."

Odell glanced at Sylvia and sat down with John at the game table.

Several staff members came up to attend to them.

Meanwhile, Sherry took her time picking out a bottle of wine. She also ordered some snacks before finally retreating to a private table where she and Sylvia could have some private time.

Sylvia passed on wine and chose to drink a cup of hot tea instead.

After finishing her glass, Sherry suddenly suggested, "Sylvia, let's play something too." Sylvia asked, "What are we playing?"

Sherry went and grabbed a cup with several dice inside.

She smiled brightly and stated the rules, "Here's how it works. We're going to guess the roll of the dice and see if it's an odd number or an even number. One of us rolls and the other one guesses, simple, isn't it?"

She figured it was boring to just drink and needed something to spice things up.

Sylvia smiled and agreed. "Okay." She came all the way here to Glanchester, there was no reason why she should not entertain her. Sherry shook the cup and slammed it against the table, then she turned to Syivia and challenged her. "Guess."

Sylvia seemed very new to this. It took her several seconds of hesitation before she finally made her wager. "Odd."

Sherry revealed the dice underneath the cup. One, three, four. Even

Sylvia took the cup from Sherry, now it was her turn to roll

Sherry was very confident. "Even."

Sylvia lifted the cup. Five, six, five. Even.

With that, they whiled away the time with the dice-guessing game

Sherry was having the time of her life with the game, fueled with wine, her happiness was ever-growing as she landed correct guesses one after another. Sylvia, on the other

hand, had struck out with every single guess she made and was wearing a tight frown across her brows Suddenly, a figure approached behind her.

Sherry had just tapped the cup against the table

“Even,” the man spoke up suddenly, his voice heavy with bass.

Sylvia was caught off-guard by this and spun around.

Odell was smiling confidently. "Trust me."

Chapter 1520

Sylvia had completely lost confidence in herself by this point and decided to follow Odell's advice, so she made her guess. "Even." Sherry lifted her cup. Four, two, six. Even.

Sylvia immediately lit up with joy and turned to Odell

Odell smiled warmly and ruffled Sylvia's hair, then he proceeded to pull up a chair and sit next to her.

After Sylvia threw the dice back into the cup, Odell took it from her and said, "Why don't you take a break? I'll win this one for you.” Sylvia smiled. "Alright."

Sherry was slightly bothered by how lovey-dovey the two of them were getting and pouted involuntarily.

Was that a taunt? She was not going to go down so easily.

She cocked an eyebrow and accepted the challenge. ‘Come at mel You're not going to beat mel

Odell shook the cup in his hand several times, the dice clattered around chaotically inside the cup.

Sherry pricked up her ears.

Just when she felt ike she had a good hint on what the number was going to be, Odell suddenly sped up his pace.

Before Sherry could react, he slammed the cup against the table confidently.

Sylvia had just grabbed herself another cup of tea and sat down with Odell.

She turned to Sherry and prompted. "Alright, Sherry. Time to guess."

Sherry hesitated for a moment and blurted out, "Even."

Sylvia lifted the cup. The numbers were Three, six, six.

"Uh-uh, you're wrong!" Sylvia declared with a wry smile.

She was very smug about it as well. After her losing streak, the tables had finally turned. Sherry was rather upset by this.

Suddenly, someone threw a chair next to her. Aman sat down audaciously and joined the table.

He adjusted his glasses and turned to Odell with a sharp smile. "Young Master Carter, that's not very nice of you. You can't pick on my Sherry like that when I’m around."

Sherry was stunned by this declaration and was almost physically repulsed. My Sherry? What was this man going on about?

Odell rose to the challenge. "What's this? Are you going to substitute for her?’ ‘Well, you stood up for your wife, so it's only natural | do the same so you two don’t gang up on her," he rolled up his shirtsleeves and reached for the cup as he said this. He grabbed the dice and tossed them into the cup.

Odell suddenly stopped him. "Wait a minute."

John obliged. ‘What is it?" "Since we're playing now, why not spice things up with a bet?" John seemed intrigued by this suggestion. "What sort of bet?"

Odell smiled coyly. "Same as last time.”

Last time?

Sherry and Sylvia picked through their memories.

The last time they played this game was probably a few years ago.

Was it at the resort?

Sherry had a drastic reaction when she recalled what happened the last time. She immediately objected, "No way-" "Sure," John answered resolutely and drowned out Sherry's objection.

Sherry glared at him John turned to her with a smile that did not inspire much confidence." Don't worry, | won't lose."

Odell's reaction was rather reserved, but there was an undeniable wipe of smile that flashed across his lips. In a way, it also seemed like he was offended by the show of disrespect.

Suddenly, he turned to Sylvia and winked at her while reassuring her. "Don't worry.”

Sylvia gave him a look but remained silent all the way.

With that, John kicked off the round, After shaking the cup, he slammed the cup on the tabletop.

Odell called it, "Even."

John lifted the cup. Five, five, four.

He smiled and remarked, "Amazing, as expected from Master Cater." "You went easy on me." Odell took the cup this time and threw three dice inside it, then he proceeded to

shake it and pressed the cup against the table, the same routine as every time He looked at John. "Master Stockton, please.”

John flashed a confident smile, looking graceful as always. Everything was under his control

Sherry stared at him expectantly.

Sylvia and Odell were eagerly waiting for him to call it

At last, he callled it, "Odds."

Odell lifted the cup. Two, two, two. Even,

An oppressing silence lingered in the air for a while. Odell was suppressing the urge to crack a smile Sylvia grimaced

Sherry turned to John with a look of betrayal.
