Ch. 1641..1645
Chapter 1641
Chapter 1641 John stared at her sharply.
The gaze irritated Sylvia. She furrowed her brows and said, “Believe it or not, it’s up to you.” She glared at John one last time before she went upstairs, leaving John alone with Odell.
John then turned his attention to Odell.
Odell had a sip of his tea. “Don’t look at me. Why would | know anything about that?”
Upstairs in the children’s room, Isabel and Flint were playing happily.
Despite being children as well, Liam and Caprice were much quieter as they sat opposite the noisy duo. The boy read a book quietly while the girl looked at him silently.
Sylvia had a glance at them from the door before she went back to her room. She wanted to inform Sherry about what John said, but after she turned on her phone, she hesitated.
Some thoughts later, she went out of her room and headed to the stairs. She looked down at the man sipping on tea and said, “Odell, come up. | have something to talk to you about.”
Upon hearing her voice, Odell, who was by the tea table, looked up at her and then looked at John.” Master Stockton, my wife is calling me. Please excuse me.”
John responded with a jealous smile. “Of course. Don’t make Mrs. Carter wait.”
Odell chuckled. He put his cup of tea down and went over to the stairs.
Sylvia went back to her room when she saw him coming up.
Amoment later, Odell’s towering figure entered the room. He went up to her and asked in a small voice,” What's the matter?” Sylvia said, “Can you arrange for your men to verify John’s claims? Send them to Glenchester again.”
Odell smiled. “I've already texted my men in Glenchester while you were talking to him. | believe we will get some updates soon.” Sylvia’s eyes gleamed. She curled her lips in delight and said, “Odell, since when did you become so smart?”
Odell smiled and stroked her face. “I learned from the best.”
Sylvia stared into his eyes. “What does that supposed to mean?”
Odell would never say something this flattering without any reason. He chuckled and said, “Have you gotten in contact with Sherry?”
Sylvia’s expression shifted. Odell continued smiling. All he took was one glance and he could see through her thoughts.
Sylvia had promised Sherry to keep the secret, so she reacted with an evasive gaze and said, “I haven't.”
Odell pinched her cheek. “You were a little rough on him just now. Try to pull it back a notch next time.” She just glared at him.
Odell patted her head. “Okay. | have to go down now. He'll suspect us if | stay here for too long.” Sylvia’s eyes flickered. “Okay.”

The day went by in the blink of an eye.
In the evening, Sylvia wheeled Madam Carter around the garden with Aunt Tonya. They only came back after the sun set over the horizon.
However, John’s car was still outside their house.
Sylvia frowned as she wheeled Madam Carter into the house.
Chapter 1642
Chapter 1642 As expected, John was still in the living room.
He was on his phone with someone. “I am busy. | won’t be going back soon. If there’s nothing urgent, just go to Peter; only call me when it’s absolutely necessary.”
John hung up the phone and saw Sylvia wheeling Madam Carter into the house. His gaze shifted. He immediately wore a polite and humble smile on his handsome face.
Madam Carter dozed off on the way back.
John said to Sylvia, “Mrs. Carter, Caprice really likes to be with Liam. No matter how | try to take her home, she doesn’t want to go back. | might have to crash at your place for a couple of days.”
Caprice, who was also in the living room watching Liam play with his Rubik’s cube, looked up at her father in confusion. She did not remember her father persuading her to leave. However, it was true that she did not want to leave, she wanted to stay with Liam.
Therefore, she turned back to Liam and continued watching him play.
Sylvia scoffed after hearing John’s excuse. She said, “Liam likes Caprice as well, and | am more than welcome to have her, but our place is too small to house someone as important as you, Master Stockton. Caprice can stay, but you should probably go.”
John chuckled. “I don’t want to interrupt either, but Caprice will break down in tears if | leave her for more than ten minutes. | don’t have the heart to leave her alone.”
“Caprice and Liam were in the children’s room for more than two hours, and | didn’t see her crying,” Sylvia said.
John’s smile froze for a second before he regained his composure. He continued, “That’s because | told her | am down here, waiting for her. She knew | was near.”
Sylvia ran out of patience. She asked, “You just don’t want to go, do you?”
John curled his lips. “It's Caprice who doesn’t want to leave Liam. | can’t do anything about it.”
Sylvia released an exasperated sigh and was done arguing with the man. She wheeled Madam Carter back to her room.
John sighed a breath of relief and sat down on the couch.
Two days later, which was a weekday, Sylvia sent Liam and Isabel to school in the morning before she came back and went out for a stroll in the park with Madam Carter and Flint.
Later in the afternoon, she went to her studio to do some work. She worked in her studio until the evening when she heard her kids come through the front gate. She got up and went downstairs.
John and Caprice came back around the same time as well. The father and daughter had gone out for the whole day, and they came back with a beautiful cap on the girl’s head and several boxes of presents.
The moment the girl got down from her father’s arm, she ran to Liam.
“Liam!” She ran over to Liam and handed him a cool-looking keychain. She adorably said, “Here, this is for you.”
Liam was slightly surprised but accepted the present anyway. “Thank you.”
Caprice smiled brightly. “You’re welcome.” She also gave Isabel and Flint each a keychain.
Isabel happily stroked the girl’s cheek. Flint hugged her and wanted to kiss her on the cheek, but John pulled the boy back. Caprice then went up to Sylvia.
Sylvia bent over to the girl who gave her a delicate wooden music box. “Aunt Sylvia, this is for you.” Sylvia took the music box and replied with a smile, “Thank you, Caprice. | like it a lot.”
Caprice’s smile was as bright as the morning sun. “You're welcome, Aunt Sylvia.”
She then went back to Liam and held the boy’s hand. The kids then went inside the house together. John went up to Sylvia and asked, “Mrs. Carter, any news today?”
Even after receiving a present from Caprice, Sylvia did not bother to be polite. She said coldly, “No.”

Chapter 1643
Chapter 1643 John pursed his lips. “I see.”
He then walked past her and went inside the house, leaving Sylvia alone and speechless. The man seemed to have made himself at home.
It was then that a black MPV came in from the corner and stopped in front of the house.
Sylvia turned around and saw Odell coming out of the car.
Odell went up to her and saw the wooden music box in her hands. “What's this?”
Sylvia smiled and said, “Caprice gave it to me.”
“She came back with John?”
“Yeah. They just came back.”
Odell glanced into the house. He then grabbed Sylvia away from the house, seemingly trying to draw distance from John. Sylvia asked, “Got any updates from Glenchester?”
“Yeah. | had five men investigate from different approaches, and they all confirmed that Madam Stockton is awake. She even attended a family gathering last night. Many people saw her alive and healthy. Julie has been arrested, and her family, the Weisses, tried to plead on behalf of her in front of Madam Stockton, but Madam Stockton turned them down.”
Sylvia sighed a breath of relief. “It seems like John is telling the truth.”
John was not responsible for the fire. It was all Julie’s plan.
“My sources confirmed his claims, so what are you going to do next? Tell Sherry about it?” Odell asked. “Of course, I’ll-” Sylvia instantly noticed the trap Odell set up for her. She even saw the mischievous grin on his face and his shimmering eyes.
Sylvia’s eyes flickered before she forcefully altered her words and said, “Of course, I'll tell her, but | have to figure out a way to reach her first.”
Odell chuckled. “Okay.” He chose not to expose her. He put his hand around her waist and walked her into the house.
John was standing by the window inside the living room, and when he saw them coming in together, he pursed his lips. He had a smile on his face, but it felt more like a jealous smile than a delightful one.
Later that night, the kids went to sleep without causing too much trouble. John’s room was quiet as well. Odell and Sylvia’s room went dark as soon as it was time for bed.
It was a quiet night, but it did not last long.
Awhile later, when the man beside Sylvia was truly asleep, she opened her eyes and reached out for her phone under the pillow. 2/2 She crawled out of the bed and headed to the balcony where she squatted down and tapped on the chat window with Sherry.
She texted Sherry about Madam Stockton’s condition, Julie’s arrest, and the men who had set the house ablaze because of Julie’s order.
After that, Sylvia added, “Sherry, John is suspecting that | saved you, and he’s here at my house with Caprice. Don’t worry, | didn’t tell him anything about you. Madam Stockton is doing well now. She even attended a, family gathering last night.”
Sherry must be asleep at this hour. After the text, Sylvia returned to the bedroom. The man was still asleep in bed.
Sylvia snuck back into bed, but when she turned her back to him, the man’s long arms reached out to her and curled around her waist.
Chapter 1644
Chapter 1644 The sudden hug surprised Sylvia and left her frozen.
The man’s warm breath caressed the back of her neck and his deep and rich voice entered her ears.’ What were you doing outside just now?”
Sylvia’s eyes flickered nervously. She said, “N-nothing. | can’t sleep, so | went out to get some air.” “Can't sleep?” “Mm-hmm...” Sylvia confidently hummed a reply.
At the next moment, she was pulled into the man’s arms. His staggering huge figure got on top of her and he lifted her chin softly. He pressed his lips against hers.
Sylvia was silenced. She tried to push him away, but he deftly pulled her hands to the side and pinned her down.
He kissed her for a while before he released her lips, but his body remained on top of her. His deep eyes were like a wolf searching for its prey in the dark. He grinned and said in his deep voice, “I can’t sleep either. Why don’t we do a little exercise?”
Sylvia’s face blushed. She knew exactly what ‘exercise’ meant. She sighed exasperatedly and said, “I couldn’t sleep just now, but I’m starting to feel sleepy... Mmmhh!” He silenced her with a kiss before she could finish.
Back at Coastrock City’s seaside hospital, Sherry sat by the window with her phone, scrolling through social media with a blank state of mind. She had been sleeping since the day, so even though it was already late at night, she was still wide awake.
Ding! Suddenly, she received a text on her phone. It was from Sylvia.
She tapped on it and saw an entire paragraph typed out by her friend, and when she went through it, her expression changed multiple times.
Madam Stockton had woken up? She even played along with Queenie to expose Julie? Julie was the mastermind behind everything, and she had done it because she was secretly in love with John.
Every word in the text was a shocking revelation to her. She knew that Julie was not as kind and gentle as she appeared, but her being secretly in love with John was something out of her expectation.
Julie even plotted the entire scheme to remove her from John’s side. Sherry’s chest heaved strongly. She was at a loss for words after learning the truth.
Just a moment ago, her mind was still troubled by the fact that Madam Stockton was bedridden and the fire that almost took her life. Now, she learned that Madam Stockton had recovered and Julie was the
one who had tried to kill her with the fire.
She also learned that it was not a coincidence that she ran into Mason in the park the other day, and there was also the untimely manner of John coming back to catch them in the act. Julie was also
responsible for inserting the idea of bringing Caprice away from Glenchester.
Even if she was an idiot, she could tell what Julie was trying to achieve.
Madam Stockton found out that Julie secretly loved John and wanted to change her mind, hence Julie plotted the entire scheme to not only remove Madam Stockton but also Sherry as well.
It was a vicious but effective plan.
Sherry took a deep breath, but she was still trying to wrap her head around the situation. The revelation of the truth was too sudden, so sudden that it felt surreal.
She pinched her waist and it felt painful. She was not dreaming.
She continued reading and saw another text from Sylvia.
Awhile later, she smiled and scoffed.
It was great that Madam Stockton had recovered, but it was impossible for her to go back to John now.
Even if it was all Julie’s plan, it did not deny John’s distrust in her, and she could not forget the year-long imprisonment. If Carl did not save her in time, she might already be dead because of Julie’s plan and John’s distrust.
The things that he did to her nine years ago continued to traumatize her, and it had become an obstacle that she could not overcome.
Chapter 1645
All she had for him was resentment. She never wanted to see him again, and she never wanted anything to do with him.
The refreshing sea breeze blew towards her face.
Sherry took a deep breath before she replied to Sylvia, “I got it. Thanks, Syl.”
Since Madam Stockton had woken up, she could simply release the guilt that had been tormenting her and live a peaceful life. Amonth passed by in the blink of an eye.
It was a weekday in Westchester.
After Sylvia sent her kids and Odell to school and to work respectively, she took Madam Carter out for a stroll in the park and then attended an art exhibition.
She only came home when it was dark. As soon as she entered the living room, she saw Odell and John drinking tea by the tea table.
Isabel and Flint were playing video games while Caprice was playing with a Rubik’s cube beside Liam. Sylvia had already gotten used to the harmonious scene.
In the past month, John would spend time with Caprice at their home other than bringing her out during the day. Sylvia walked in.
Flint bolted up and ran to her as soon as he was aware of her entry. He waved the handheld video game console at her and said, “Mommy, Uncle John bought us new video games!”
The handheld video game console looked modern and beautiful.
Sylvia looked at John. “You shouldn't have, Master Stockton.”
John smiled. “Mrs. Carter, you are too kind. I’m their Uncle John. Of course, |’ll spoil them with presents.” Sylvia was left speechless and her lips twitched a little.
John sounded like he was talking to family, but Sylvia ignored him. She patted Flint’s head before she headed to Madam Carter’s room. She had been out for the whole day, so she wanted to check on Madam Carter first.
“Mrs. Carter, | wonder if you have any good news today.” John’s voice suddenly entered her ears once more.
Sylvia turned around to the man and said, “No.”
She had texted Sherry a few times in the past month, but even she did not know where Sherry was.
While John pursed his lips, Sylvia went straight to Madam Carter’s room.
ILE
As always, Sylvia watched the kids play in the children’s room after dinner before she went back to her room.
Odell was doing some work in the study.
Sylvia went ahead to wash up before she sat on the bed to check on the messages she got from the art association group. The group was talking about the art exhibition.
While she was going through the messages, hurried footsteps arrived at her door. She looked toward the door and saw Odell coming in with a smile and his phone in his hand.
Sylvia’s eyes gleamed. She asked, “Why are you looking at me like that? Any good news?” “| do have some good news for you. It’s about Sherry,” he said as he sat down beside her. Sylvia immediately asked, “Sherry? How is she?”
He leaned his handsome face closer to her and said, “Kiss me and I'll tell you.”
Sylvia glared at him but she still kissed him on the lips quickly.
He widened his smile. “I just got news saying that Sherry is in Coastrock City and that she attended a major event on behalf of the Sagers.”
He then tapped on his phone and showed her the picture he received.
The picture was a group photo with Sherry standing in the center. She wore a long-sleeved evening gown and was smiling elegantly at the camera.
