Chapter 1951

Chapter 1951 Isabel simply could not take her eyes off Caprice.

It came to a point where Caprice was beginning to feel embarrassed having been stared at for so long. Her face glowed red as she dodged away from Isabel's pointed stare. "Don't look at me like that."

“Haha! Alright." Isabel chuckled and stifled the urge to keep staring. She suddenly gestured at the window. “Caprice, stand over there by the window. Let me take a picture of you.’

"Why do you want to take my picture?"

“| don’t have any pictures of you on my phone, so let me have a nice picture of you at least," Isabel said without giving away her true intentions.

Caprice did not look too much into it. She obliged and stood next to the window as she was told, posing as Isabel instructed.

After a while, when Isabel was finally satisfied with the pictures, so she turned to Caprice again. "Why don't you take a short break? | need to use the bathroom, and we will leave in about an hour."

"Alright." Isabel went to the bathroom. Caprice stepped out of the dressing area and went to the living room.

After a while, Isabel’s assistant approached her with some snacks and fresh fruit. Caprice thanked her with a smile and began snacking.

Meanwhile, inside the bathroom, Isabel was texting Liam on her phone. She sent two pictures of Caprice to Liam, followed by a text. ‘What do you think? Does she look good dressed like this?" The pictures could easily be used as magazine covers without needing any sort of editing.

There was a reason Isabel sent these pictures to Liam. She was going to make him regret not tagging long tonight. He missed out on the chance of getting to see Caprice dressed up in a stunning dress, looking her best.

In Carter Tech City, Liam was in the middle of a serious meeting.

The others were talking while he was seated at the head of the table with a stoic look on his face, attentively listening to the other's input.

His phone was muted. The display lit up briefly when he received a text from Isabel.

Upon noticing that it was only Isabel texting him, he paid no mind to it and directed his attention back to the meeting. An hour passed in the blink of an eye.

The sun was about to set when Caprice and Isabel left the apartment.

The assistant did not go with them. The girls went to the location where the dinner party was held. It was a luxurious manor villa located in the suburbs.

The party took place outdoors on a well-maintained lawn illuminated with light installation. The decoration was nothing short of stately, and every decoration piece was expensive and exquisite. It was the definition of luxury, a playground for the rich.

When Caprice got out of the car with Isabel, the dazzling lights almost blinded her.

She squinted as she followed Isabel onto the red carpet leading to the entrance of the venue.

Immediately after they stepped on the red carpet, she heard people exclaiming, "Look, that’s Isabel Ross!" Several ladies gestured at Isabel and commented, "Isn't she just an actress? Why is she here?"

“Who knows? Maybe she managed to land a rich patron who decided to bring her here to show her around." “How is that possible? Do you see anyone like that accompanying her?"

"No, but there is that girl over there. She’s very beautiful."

"| don’t think I’ve seen her before. It doesn't look like she's from the entertainment industry. Do you know her?" ‘| don't. She's probably one of Isabel's close friends."

"What did she bring her here for?’

“Heh, | think | might know why. Considering everyone attending this party tonight is the richest men from different sectors of the city, they're probably here for a market survey. If | had to guess, these girls are hoping to find such rich men to sink their claws in and get married to."

"Hahaha..."

Chapter 1952

They roared with laughter.

It did not seem like they knew that Isabel was the only daughter of the Carters, much less Caprice's identity.

There was nothing but slight for Isabel in their voice, and that hostility spread toward Caprice who happened to be her partner. Caprice frowned.

Upon hearing their unruly waves of laughter, Isabel halted and glared sharply at them. Even with the blinding lights shooting in every direction, there was a piercing shine in her eyes that was unflinching and hostile.

It seemed like she was threatening to pounce on them if any one of them dared to even chuckle at all. The gossiping women were instantly silenced, not expecting such retaliation from Isabel.

It was only after Isabel led Caprice into the venue that they came back to their senses. They got so infuriated that they began insulting Isabel again, aware that she could not hear them now.

Meanwhile, Caprice and Isabel had stepped into the venue with their invitation cards.

Isabel was a popular actress and immediately drew a lot of attention. Caprice, who was dressed like a princess, received a fair share of reception as well.

Neither was Isabel fazed by the attention nor was Caprice even though she was not a fan of such events and being under the spotlight. She made sure to stick close to Isabel's side.

Isabel got herself a glass of wine while Caprice opted for fruit juice and some pastry. They sat together and ate. From time to time, they would have to brush off the advances of men who came up to Isabel to flirt with her.

At one point, a fine-looking young man who seemed well-behaved approached Caprice.

He looked straight into her eyes and asked, "Hello, beautiful. Would you like to chat for a moment?" Before Caprice could refuse, Isabel chased the man away, "No. She's my sister-in-law.”

The man was flabbergasted and left with his head downcast in defeat.

Caprice smirked and took a sip of the juice. She liked it when Isabel addressed her as her sister-in-law.

After that, the man stopped flocking toward them. The constant rejection of every man who approached them so far must have sent an effective message that the two girls were not interested.

Isabel continued enjoying her wine.

At one point, it suddenly occurred to Caprice that something strange was going on. She had a feeling that Isabel hated being here at all, so why was she here?

She asked bluntly, "Isabel, why did you come to this party tonight at all?” “Well, it's my dad who made me attend,” she confessed.

“Oh.”

She recalled her argument with Liam in the office that she overheard.

Since Odell wanted her to take over the family business, he must have wanted her to attend the dinner party that was akin to an annual tradition. It was a chance for the industry leaders to mingle and for people to see Isabel.

“Anyway, how are things with you and my brother progressing?" Isabel changed the topic suddenly. Her eyes were glowing with red, burning with curiosity.

Caprice nearly stuttered. She said with her face turning into the shade of ripe tomatoes, "We're just... doing the usual things a normal couple do."

“Have you kissed yet?” Isabel asked without shame.

Caprice lowered her head shyly. "Yeah."

When Isabel noticed Caprice's shy reaction, she asked while stifling a smile, "Slept together yet?" Caprice picked at her fingers. ‘ Not yet.”

Isabel flashed a look of disbelief.

Caprice hurriedly added, "But | touched his abs a few times."

‘Touch his what now?" What sort of queer interaction was that supposed to be?

Isabel did not attempt to conceal her shock at all. She was utterly speechless.

This only furthered Caprice's shame. She grunted and wanted to bury herself in a hole.

Was close bodily contact not intimate enough?

Isabel expressed with a sigh, "Well, | have to say, you’re a good match for my brother."

One was old-fashioned while the other was a silly girl.

Chapter 1953

Isabel was relentless and continued pressing for more details. "You haven't done anything with my brother other than kissing and this ab-touching?"

Caprice suddenly recalled the previous date she went on with Liam in Carter Tech City.

He had pried the collar of her shirt open, and the two of them had kissed for what seemed like forever, and at one point he... he... Her face turned red against her will.

Isabel seemed to sense something, and her eyes glimmered with excitement. "Come on, Caprice, you can tell me."

It was not so much that Caprice was unwilling to share the details with her; it was just too hard for her to talk bout it!

She just happened to feel the urge to use the washroom. She quickly shot up and announced, ‘I need to use the washroom." Isabel made a face and rose with her. ‘TH go with you."

"It's alright, | can go by myself," Caprice said as she walked towards the washroom.

Isabel followed closely behind her. "That wont do. | promised my brother that | was going to keep you safe."

Although most of the attendees of the night were public figures, that did not mean they were all trustworthy gentlemen. Besides, with how glamorously Caprice was dressed, she could fall prey to any of these men any minute.

Caprice did not protest as she quickly paddled into the women's toilet, clenching her dress tightly. By pure coincidence, she met Heather as soon as she entered.

Heather was wearing an elegant long dress and was coming from the opposite direction with several of her friends. They were all young socialites dressed as fashionably as her. All of them were very beautiful.

Upon noticing Caprice, Heather who was walking at the front of the group suddenly ground to a stop. She was just planning to scope the venue to see if Caprice had shown up. It was certainly a surprise to see her target reveal herself.

Her expression changed vividly. She smiled at Caprice. "Caprice! What a coincidence! | wasn't expecting Liam to bring you here.”

Caprice suddenly recalled the dialogue they had last time. Heather was prattling on and on about some sort of dinner party. It was only then that she joined the dots and realized that this was the party Heather was referring to.

She was not in the mood to engage with her since she just wanted to use the washroom. She pressed forward and tried to lap around Heather.

Unexpectedly, the girls from Heather's group formed a line and cut off her path.

Caprice scowled. "Get out of the way, please.”

They laughed condescendingly at her and regarded her with scorn.

"So, this is the little girlfriend of President Carter that we’ve heard so much about."

"She looks foxy alright. If | was a man, I'd want my fill of fun with her as well.”

“Hey now, it’s not easy for her to scramble her way to some event like this. Let's go easy on her."

One of them even put a hand forward and seemed like she was going to playfully squeeze Caprice on the cheeks. Caprice's eyes gleamed icily as she hurriedly retreated a step back.

They laughed unabashedly at her reaction, taking it to mean that she was scared of them. They began inching closer toward her.

Caprice was very upset.

Before she could utter a word, Isabel rushed toward her. She stepped in front of Caprice and glared at the row of girls sharply. "Scram, or else you're going to get it!"

They were horrified by the sudden intrusion.

‘Isabel Ross?”

"Why is she here?"

Heather stepped forward. She looked at Isabel with a sharp scowl. "Isabel, why are you here?" Isabel regarded her viciously. "Why can't | be here if even someone like you is here?"

Heather gnashed her teeth. She had never felt so insulted and she made it show. She still remembered the slap Isabel landed on her cheeks the last time in Carter Tech City!

She swallowed the bile of rage and spoke with iron in her voice, "Isabel, I’m talking to Caprice, so please step aside." "Ha!" Isabel laughed mockingly.

She did not consider herself to be the pretentious type, but she simply could not stand Heather's bratty attitude any longer. She snapped, "Who do you think you are, Heather Manson? Stop acting so friendly with Caprice!"

Chapter 1954

Even if Caprice was not the only daughter of the richest man in Glanchester, Heather had no right to treat Caprice this way. Besides, she had tried to humiliate Caprice time and time again. How could she be so shameless to pretend she was her friend?

Isabel looked at her with a vacant, depreciating look.

Heather did not take kindly to this. She broke out into insults immediately," Isabel, you're just a third-rate actor who climbs in bed with rich men to climb up the social ladder! How dare you insult me?!"

Despite being shielded by Isabel, Caprice had had enough of this. She did not mind Heather hurling insults at her, but she would not stand it if Isabel was the victim, especially when she was spouting such insulting nonsense!

Her patience was at its limit! “Heather, you're a prick!" she cussed out loud and wanted to step in front of Isabel. Isabel pulled her back defensively.

Not only was Isabel not ruffled in the slightest, but she even began to coax Caprice, smiling the entire time, "Relax, Caprice. I'm going to handle this.

Just watch." With that, she walked up to Heather.

Heather glared at the approaching Isabel viciously. "Isabel, if you dare to raise a finger against me, I'll make sure you don't get to walk out of this place in one piece."

Her friends stepped forward as well to intimidate Isabel.

Caprice was getting concerned and wanted to step up to support Isabel. Before she even managed a step, she heard a sharp smack that reverberated against the walls.

Isabel had drawn up as much momentum as she could and delivered a powerful slap at Heather's face. Heather was nearly thrown off balance.

Caprice had never witnessed anything like this. Her eyes grew wide.

Heather's friends were utterly floored. A stiff, oppressing silence reigned over them for a moment.

After the moment passed, Heather pulled herself straight and held a hand over the side of her face that Isabel had struck. She glared murderously at her. "You're dead!"

She threw herself at Isabel.

Isabel swiftly dodged backward while stepping on the hem of Heather's dress, all in one swift motion.

Thump!

Heather tumbled forward and crashed to the floor.

"Pfft..." Caprice could not stifle her laugh when she saw the comedic display.

Heather's friends were shocked by what happened. They quickly rushed up to Heather to help her.

Meanwhile, Isabel had returned to Caprice’s side. She led her away from the scene. "Come on, let's use another washroom." "Alright."

If they stuck around, Heather was going to have her friends rush at them. They would be outmatched in that scenario. Even if they managed to put up a good fight, they would not end up any better than the rest of them.

As soon as they scuttled away, Heather's friends pulled her to her feet.

Heather staggered to her feet, her eyes ringed with anger.

“Where is Isabel?! Where is she going?!’ she shrieked.

Her friends told her fearfully, ‘They're gone."

‘That b*tch! I'm going to kill them!" she screamed and prepared to storm outside.

Her friends tugged at her and stopped her.

“Heather, you have to calm down. There are a lot of people out there. You'll get laughed at if you go out in this state."

‘That's right. Besides, those two b*stards are not going to leave any time soon, so we can deal with them in time."

Heather stifled her rage. She gnashed her teeth and hurled countless obscenities while sweating. "I will give them a fate worse than death!"

She stayed inside the washroom for a while to fix her makeup.

As soon as she emerged from the washroom, she bumped into her mother, Sophia.

Chapter 1955

“Heather, where have you been? I've been looking for you all night," Sophia said the moment she met her daughter. She then noticed the redness on one side of her face which was also swollen and quickly grew alarmed. " What happened to your face?”

Heather could barely express herself as she was fuming with rage. Being slapped by a third-rate actor like Isabel was the worst humiliation she had ever gone through in her life!

Upon noticing her silence, Sophia turned to Heather's friends, who were crowded behind her, and asked anxiously, ‘What happened to her?"

They informed her, "Aunt Sophia, it was Isabel who hit her."

Caprice and Isabel took a detour to another washroom.

By the time they returned to the venue, it was just as rowdy as before, but there were noticeably more people now. The dinner ceremony had not officially kicked off yet since all of the guests were yet to arrive.

Isabel led Caprice by her arm and stepped into the venue.

Caprice glanced around the venue aimlessly, only to immediately meet Heather’s gaze that was filled with poison. She was standing with another older lady who was casting the same hostile look at her.

She frowned and gently nudged Isabel. "Isabel, Heather is over there glaring at us."

Isabel turned to look in the direction Caprice gestured at and immediately met Heather's gaze. She audaciously cocked an eyebrow in her direction.

This gesture was not going to hurt Heather in any way, but it sure did rub in the message.

Even from this distance, Caprice could make out the explosive rage boiling underneath Heather's eyes. She looked like she was going to charge over like a raging bull any second.

She did a fine job composing herself, knowing that they were in public and she could not risk such a move.

Caprice was enjoying this. She turned to Isabel. "Isabel, you're so cool."

Heather and her sisters would have had their way with her if not for Isabel insisting on walking her to the washroom. “Of course." Isabel smiled and gently pinched her face.

Meanwhile, Heather stood with Sophia, the pair of mother and daughter casting vehement looks in Caprice and Isabel’s direction.

Sophia wanted nothing more than to punch Isabel's face, but she knew that this was not the right time for it.

She turned to Heather. "Heath, | already spoke to your father and told him to put Isabel in her place. Don’t forget that our family has a lot of connections in the entertainment circle. Since she has the guts to attack you, I’m going to end her career. You'll see tomorrow.”

Heather was relieved to hear this.

Sophia continued spying on Caprice who was following Isabel everywhere like a lapdog. She turned to Heather and asked, "Why did she come with Isabel? Where is President Carter?"

Heather scoffed contemptuously, "He's probably occupied with something more important. Isabel is one of the ambassadors of Carter Tech City and is close friends with him and Caprice. If | had to guess, she's here to rope in some rich men to leech off their wealth."

"As for Caprice, she's probably upset because of what | said to her last time. That’s why she came here with Isabel to prove a point to me."

Sophia sneered upon hearing this. She suddenly turned to Heather. "I have an idea. | need you to pry Isabel away for just a moment. I'll take care of Caprice."

Heather asked excitedly, "What's your plan?"

Sophia smiled, a mysterious smirk hanging on her lips. "Make sure you do it right. I'll make sure Caprice gets humiliated to the point where she doesn't dare to show her face around here again. Even President Carter will want to dump her after this!"

This further piqued Heather's curiosity, and her voice turned shrill. "Come on, tell me! What's the plan?" Sophia inched closer to her and whispered into her ears.

"| heard that the owners of this manor, Mr. and Mrs. Duwait, are putting a curated collection of paintings they have collected over many years on exhibition. They are even exhibiting the pink diamond they bought in an auction for eight hundred million in Estur last year! It's over there. Let's check it out.”

’Really? Let's go!"

Caprice and Isabel were drinking juice when they overheard the conversation. They soon noticed several ladies heading in a certain direction.

Isabel turned to Caprice, "Let's go check it out too." Caprice followed without a word.

They had nothing to do here anyway, so they might as well entertain themselves with something.
