Chapter 1966

"Don't you know why I hit you in the toilet?" Isabel argued. "You and your friends surrounded her and tried to bully her. If | wasn’t there, you people would've bullied her."

Caprice wore a frosty expression and echoed. "Yeah. | ran into them when | was in the toilet. | don't want to argue with them, so | tried to avoid them. But they stopped me and even pinched my face."

She clearly remembered what happened earlier.

Sherry and John reacted coldly to their daughter's explanation.

Heather immediately argued, "No! | was just trying to say hi! | didn’t bully her!"

“Let's put this aside first," Sherry said. She then looked at Mrs. Duwait and asked, "Mrs. Duwait, can | inspect your worker?" She looked at Beverly and continued, "| want to know why someone is targeting my daughter." Upon hearing her words, both Sophia and Heather shuddered again.

Mrs. Duwait nodded firmly. "Not a problem."

Aworker brought over some chairs for John and Caprice to sit down.

Odell, Sylvia, and Isabel also sat down beside them.

Mr. and Mrs. Duwait sat in front of them.

In front of all of them was Beverly with her head down.

Sherry asked, "I believe you don't know my daughter, and she has done nothing to you before. Tell me why you accuse her of stealing.”

"|...L." Beverly stammered and could not form a complete sentence.

Mrs. Duwait intervened and said, "Beverly, if you don't explain yourself, I'll have to hand you over to the police. This piece of diamond is worth eight hundred million and you'll have to spend the rest of your life behind bars."

Beverly was already nervous when she was exposed and when she heard she might have to go to jail, she collapsed on the ground with a thud.

"|-It's Mrs. Mason. She asked for my help and she promised to bring me into the entertainment industry. She also promised to make me the biggest star."

The crowd gasped in awe.

Even Caprice was shocked.

Mrs. Mason? Heather's mother, Sophia?

It was still Heather after all.

Caprice glared at Heather and Sophia; Sherry and John did the same. Horrified, Sophia screamed, "Nonsense! | don’t even know you!"

Heather hid behind her mother but she called out to Beverly as well, "My mother doesn't know you or Caprice. You're trying to slander us!"

Beverly did not expect them to cut ties with her. A momentary shock later, she explained, "I have the transfer record! Mrs. Mason promised me fifty thousand if | agreed to help her."

She pulled her phone out and showed Mrs. Duwait the transfer record from Sophia.

Mrs. Duwait had a glance before she gave it to Sherry.

An hour ago, Sophia transferred fifty thousand to Beverly's bank account.

Not only that, she even added Beverly and texted her, "Beverly, | assure you you'll become the biggest star after this." Sherry scoffed and looked at Sophia.

Sophia's face was as pale as paper. "It's not me! She's accusing me!"

It was then Roman stepped out from the crowd and slapped Sophia on the face.

Sophia was sent to the ground with blood trickling from the edge of her lips.

She looked at Roman in shock.

Furious, Roman glared at her. "You fool! Not only did you spend my money lavishly, but you even disgrace me at Mr. and Mrs. Duwait's estate! You embarrass me!" 2

He also shouted, "Get up and apologize to Mr. and Mrs. Stockton!"

Sophia was stunned for a moment before she realized what happened.

 

Chapter 1967

Her husband was trying to get her out of the sticky situation and also give a satisfying explanation to John and Sherry, so that the two of them would forgive them.

Sophia bent over and knelt before John and Sherry. She cried and said, "Mr. and Mrs. Stockton, it’s my fault. | shouldn't have bribed her, | shouldn't have hurt your daughter. | was wrong."

John continued to pat Caprice's head without saying a word.

Sherry scoffed.

She knew the Masons were putting up a show to ask for forgiveness. She asked, "Why did you bribe Beverly to hurt Caprice?"

Sophie's eyes flickered nervously. "I-l saw Ms. Stockton and Ms. Ross hit Heather, so | was thinking of taking revenge. That's why | bribed Beverly."

"I'm the one who hit Heather, Caprice didn't even touch her," Isabel bellowed, "Mrs. Mason, if you want to take revenge, you should've gone after me but you went after Caprice instead. Why?"

‘Yeah! Why did she go after Ms. Stockton?" someone in the crowd asked. Sophia was silenced by the words stuck in her throat.

Heather realized the situation was going out of control, so she immediately said, "You hit me because of Caprice, that's why my mom went after her."

Isabel scoffed and said, "Heather, you remind me. You tried to hurt Caprice back at Carter Tech District. You trapped her at the entrance and let her be insulted. She almost got trampled. | still haven't slapped you forthat."

Heather's face turned pale.

Sherry bolted up and asked, "What did you say? She hurt Caprice at Carter Tech District as well?"

Isabel said, 'Yeah, Aunt Sherry. Liam and | were just in time or else she'd be hurt. Liam found out the truth and fired Heather." "Oh my goodness! Heather was fired? She claimed she resigned from Carter Tech District," someone else in the crowd said. Heather's expression turned pale. "No! No! | didn't get fired! | resigned voluntarily!"

Slap!

As soon as her voice subsided, Roman slapped her in the face.

The slap was so strong that it sent her to the ground.

Her cheek was instantly swollen.

Roman was infuriated. He pointed at his daughter and shouted, "How dare you lie to me? | used to be so proud of you but you turn out to be a vicious girl! | must teach you a lesson today!"

He lifted his foot for a kick.

Heather broke down in tears.

Sophia could not bear seeing her daughter get beaten by her own father, so she intervened to protect her. Roman's kick landed on Sophia instead.

The crowd was silenced by the instant violence.

Caprice might not like Heather, but she could not stand to see the father hit the daughter. She turned and buried her face in Sherry's shoulder.

Sherry then said, "Enough."

Mrs. Duwait signaled her workers to stop Roman.

The two workers went up to Roman and held him back.

Sophia took several painful hits and collapsed on the ground.

Heather continued to sob in silence.

The crowd just looked on.

Awhile later, John said, "Mrs. Duwait, losing a diamond isn't a prank. | believe you should call the police.” His tone sounded flat and he looked extra calm.

He had no intentions of letting this go or settling it privately.

Even after Heather and Sophia were beaten and scolded by Roman, John was not pleased.

Chapter 1968

Both Heather and Sophia looked up in fear. Even Roman was taken aback by the suggestion.

John then helped Caprice up and brought her out.

Sherry walked with them. She was worried about Caprice's back after the incident. "Caprice, how’s your back?” Caprice felt better now that she cleared her name. "I feel better now."

Odell exchanged an eye with Sylvia before they brought Isabel away.

Mr. and Mrs. Duwait went after them.

There was no way the event could continue anymore after that happened but they had to somehow apologize or at least make amends.

Mr. Duwait went to John and said, "Mr. Stockton, don't worry about it. I'll call the police right away. I'll give you and Ms. Stockton a satisfying explanation.”

Mrs. Duwait went over to Sylvia and Odell. "Mr. and Mrs. Carter, Ms. Ross, it's our fault that you have to go through something like that at our estate. Please forgive our mistake."

They left the estate swiftly. The other guests no longer linger and started to leave. "Tsk. She should find out who they are first before she kicks her."

“How would you know who they are? You can't judge a book by its cover, so it’s better to be polite. She's beautiful but it doesn’t mean she’s playful.”

‘Yeah. Thankfully | didn't join that dumb woman in bullying Ms. Stockton."

"Who would've thought she's John Stockton's daughter? | heard she’s the only daughter in the family. | understand why they are so mad."

"| know right? Caprice is also Liam's girlfriend, the owner of Carter Tech District. Liam Carter is also the son of Odell Carter. | bet they have been engaged since they were young."

“| remember Mr. Carter and Mr. Stockton used to attend events like this together with their wives. | bet their children are also engaged.”

"Why did Heather go after Caprice after all?" "| think she likes Liam and wants to ruin Caprice's relationship with him."

“Hmph. What a dumb woman. She should look into the mirror first. Ms. Stockton is still young but she’s a lot more beautiful. Besides, Ms. Stockton is the only daughter of the richest man in Manchester. Who is Heather Mason?" 1

"That's not the point. The point is Heather tried to hurt

Caprice twice and Caprice didn't hold her responsible or take revenge. She did it again and got exposed this time. If | were Caprice, | wouldn't forgive her.” i

"The Masons are finished." The guests left the estate.

Other than the windy breeze, only Roman, Sophia, and Heather were left behind.

All three of them looked defeated, devastated, and horrified.

Roman recovered his composure after a while. He pointed at Sophia and Heather angrily and bellowed, "You two have done it this time! Our family is ruined!"

He went up to them and hit them.

The black MPV cruised smoothly in the night.

Liam was holding his phone while looking at his watch in the rear seat.

The event should be still going on. He could still make it.

Minutes before he arrived at the estate, his furrowed brows relaxed.

As he tapped on his phone, Caprice in a beautiful dress appeared. It was his lock screen.

Caprice sent him the picture this afternoon but he only saw it half an hour after the meeting ended. If she wore the dress to the event, she would be the center of attention.

He decided to attend the event to exert his dominance and declare that she was her woman.

Chapter 1969

The car soon arrived at the entrance of the estate.

The bodyguard in the passenger seat got out and opened the door for Liam. When Liam stepped out of the car, he saw a group of people exiting the estate.

Mr. Duwait was in front of John and Sherry. He said with a flattering smile on his face, "Mr. Stockton, I'm really sorry about what happened today. | hope you'll give me the chance to apologize to you, Mrs. Stockton, and Ms.

Stockton personally another day." John was still angry about what happened. He did not answer the man. Sherry said, "It’s not your fault, Mr. Duwait. As long as you can handle the situation properly, we won't hold you responsible."

Mr. Duwait nodded repeatedly and gratefully. "Not a problem! Thank you very much! | have already contacted the police and I'll update you about the follow-ups. Please don't worry.”

Mrs. Duwait was also apologizing to Odell and Sylvia. "Mr. and Mrs. Carter, I'm really sorry for what happened tonight. I'm sorry that Ms. Ross had to go through that horrible experience at our place."

Odell also ignored the lady.

Sylvia cleared her throat and said, "You just need to give Mr. and Mrs. Stockton a satisfying explanation. As for the rest, you don't have to worry."

Mrs. Duwait’s eyes shone brightly. "Yes, yes! We will. Thank you very much." Caprice was in between John and Sherry. Her father held her shoulder and her mother held her hand tightly. Isabel was also walking in between Odell and Sylvia. Sylvia was holding her hand and the girl looked unusually obedient.

Mr. and Mrs. Duwait walked them out. Even when they were almost at their car, Mr. and Mrs. Duwait insisted on seeing them away.

Sylvia and Sherry exchanged a quick look.

Sylvia then said, "Mr. and Mrs. Duwait, it's alright now."

Mr. and Mrs. Duwait immediately stopped.

"Take care, Mr. and Mrs. Stockton, and Ms. Stockton."

"Take care, Mr. and Mrs. Carter, and Ms. Ross."

All four of the parents were not in a good mood. They headed to the car but then a familiar figure emerged. Everyone but Caprice stopped when they saw the person.

Caprice's eyes shone and ran over to the man. "Liam!"

John frowned. Even Sherry felt displeasure when her daughter left her for Liam.

On the other hand, Odell and Sylvia looked more relaxed when they saw Liam. Isabel crossed her hands and smirked.

Caprice threw herself into Liam's arms.

When Liam hugged her, he noticed her messy hair and the leaves on her straps.

What happened?

The event should be going on now, so why did his family and Caprice's family come out? Behind them were the guests of the evening and they were leaving.

Liam narrowed his eyes and asked, "Caprice, what happened?"

Caprice had already calmed down after her parents came to her rescue but when Liam asked, grievance gushed into her head again.

She snorted and said timidly, "It's okay. Daddy and Mommy helped me with it already.” She sounded like she had just cried, which alerted Liam. It was then John and Sherry came over with Odell, Sylvia, and Isabel.

Liam patted Caprice’s head and said, "It’s okay now. Let’s go home."

Chapter 1970

Liam released Caprice and then looked at John and Sherry." Uncle John, Aunt Sherry, sorry I’m late."

He should have been there with Caprice.

John wore a stoic look and ignored Liam. He said to Caprice, "Caprice, come here."

Caprice hummed reluctantly. She remained in Liam's arms and refused to return to her father.

John's expression turned grim.

Sherry sighed and said, "Caprice, Uncle Odell and Aunt Sylvia are still here. Isabel is watching as well. Come back here." Caprice then realized she was being watched.

She took a step back and saw Odell smiling at her gently while both Sylvia and Isabel smirked. Embarrassed, Caprice immediately returned to her father and mother.

John's grim expression finally relaxed a bit.

Sherry then looked at Liam. "Liam, it's not your fault. You don’t have to blame yourself.”

Isabel then stepped up and said, "It’s my fault, Aunt Sherry. | asked Caprice to accompany me to the event."

Sherry smiled and said, "It's not your fault either, my dear. It's the girl named Heather trying to give Caprice a hard time. Even if Caprice didn't follow you here tonight, Heather would find a way to hurt her too. I’m glad that she's with you tonight."

Isabel nodded but she still felt guilty.

Caprice then said, "Isabel, it's not your fault. Heather told me about this event at school. | thought she was just trying to make fun of me, but now it seems like she tricked me here so that I'd fall into her trap."

Isabel frowned. "That good-for-nothing girl must be taught a lesson." Both Sherry and John looked grim. Liam pursed his lips as well.

Caprice sensed the heaviness in the air. She put on a smile and said, "I’m fine now. | believe Heather won’t come after me anymore. Come on, you guys. Don't put on a long face."

Isabel pinched her cheek. "You're overly optimistic."

Caprice chuckled. She then curled her arms in both her father's and mother's arm respectively. "Daddy, Mommy, I'm hungry." Sylvia and Odell exchanged a quick look. Odell then said, " Then let's go. Uncle Odell will bring you to get something to eat." Caprice hummed happily.

John and Sherry sighed. There was no reason forthem to be grumpy anymore, so they brought Caprice to the car.

They got into the car and the driver and bodyguard prepared to start the car. It was then the door opened again.

It was Liam and he wanted to come in.

Both John and Sherry were speechless.

Caprice's eyes shone brightly. "Liam?"

She wanted to sit beside Liam but John held her back.

She pouted at her father.

John then looked at Liam. "Where's your car?” “My car doesn’t have enough seats," he said. John was silenced.

Odell and Sylvia came in their own car, so Liam must have come in his own car as well, yet he claimed that his father’s car had no seat for him.

"Come in then," Sherry said with a smile.

She then glared at John, signaling him to stop making a scene.

John pursed his lips and looked away.

The car started.

Liam pulled his phone out.

A few taps later, the navigation on the car was changed to the destination he set on his phone.

The voice indication said, "Navigation starts. 32 kilometers to the destination. Please drive carefully at night."
