Ch. 2231..2240

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Chapter 2231-“Tina is the heir of the Stephenson family, after all. Many people have their eyes set on Tina as they want to marry into the Stephenson family,” Hadwin Stephenson said calmly.

Lina said, “Are you really going to let Tina inherit the Stephenson family? What if Tina is bad at doing business? Aren’t you afraid she’ll bring down the Stephenson family?” “When I pass her the Stephenson family, she can do whatever she wants with it. It’s up to her if she wants to bring the Stephenson family to a higher level or destroy it.” Lina was surprised. Her husband spoke as if he was only giving their daughter a toy, not a huge company worth tens of billions of dollars.

“How about I give birth to a few more children? We’ll see which one of them is suitable to inherit the Stephenson family,” Lina asked thoughtfully. After all, one could not put all of one’s eggs in one basket. It was good to have more options.

However, Hadwin Stephenson’s expression changed as soon as she said that. “No!” The word escaped his mouth quickly.

Lina looked at him in surprise, only finding his reaction a little aggressive. “Why not? Didn’t you think it was a good idea to have more children?” Hadwin Stephenson pressed his thin lips together tightly. Then, he raised his hands and pulled Lina into his arms.

The two of them were standing in the middle of the banquet hall, and their embrace instantly attracted many people’s attention.

“Hey, there are people around us…” Lina whispered to remind him. However, halfway through her sentence, she suddenly stopped speaking because she could feel Hadwin Stephenson’s arms trembling as he held her.

‘He’s… trembling!’ Lina quickly said, “Hadwin, what’s come over you? Are you feeling unwell? If you’re feeling unwell, then… Then we’ll find an excuse to leave. I’ll bring you to the hospital.” She could ask Grace and Jason to host the full moon party.

Hadwin Stephenson muttered, “I’m okay. I’m just… scared. Lina, Tina’s enough. Let’s not have any more kids, okay?” Lina paused. She knew what he was afraid of. He thought he was prepared for everything, but her water broke sooner than expected. She had a narrow escape during labor and was even in a coma for several days after that.

“But… that was because I was injected with poison. It’s not like someone will hurt me every time I give birth. If we’re a little more careful next time…” she muttered.

Hadwin Stephenson said, “But I’m not taking any chances. I’m happy with Tina alone. Really. She’s the best gift God could give us. One child is enough. Really! Lina, I don’t want to go through that fear again. I was so scared when I saw you lying in the hospital bed with your eyes closed. You showed no reaction aside from breathing…” He would still be awakened by the despair he felt back then after dreaming of it at night. Then, he would stare at her for a long time before coming to his senses.

Lina instantly felt her nose turn a little sore. He had never told her these. She thought everything was over after she woke up.

However, it turned out he was still afraid.

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Chapter 2232-Lina hugged Hadwin Stephenson back as she gently patted his back and comforted him softly. “Alright, there, there. I’ll always be here for you. You know me. I always keep my promises!” “How long are you two planning on hugging?” A teasing voice rang in Lina’s ears, and she finally seemed to realize it. She stopped hugging him and turned to look at Grace, who had walked over. Then, she realized many people around them were looking at them. She instantly blushed.

Grace noticed her best friend’s slightly reddened eyes and froze, but she smiled and held her best friend’s hand. “Come, let me show you what I got for Tina’s full moon party.” With that said, she pulled her best friend toward the lounge.

Jason did not follow them but went up to Hadwin Stephenson. “Everyone here will probably discuss how you two have a great relationship right now. It can end some rumors without much effort.” Hadwin Stephenson did not explain the hug earlier. He did not do it for the rumors. He just could not help himself.

He was scared when Lina said she wanted more children.

“What would you do if Grace got pregnant again?” Hadwin Stephenson asked suddenly. As far as he knew, Grace almost died when she gave birth to the triplets. If she got pregnant again, it would cause great damage to her body.

“She’s not going to get pregnant again. I’m not going to let her get pregnant again,” Jason said confidently. Then, he raised his eyebrows and looked at Hadwin Stephenson. “What’s the matter? Are you afraid of Lina getting pregnant again?” “Yes, I am,” said Hadwin Stephenson after smiling bitterly.

After all, he would go mad if he had to go through that again.

“There are many things a man can do to prevent a woman from getting pregnant. It depends on how much you’re willing to sacrifice for them,” said Jason. He had also gone through what Hadwin Stephenson was going through.

Something flashed across Hadwin Stephenson’s eyes when he heard that.

In the lounge, Grace asked Lina what had happened and why her eyes were red. Lina said, “Hadwin was scared when I said I wanted more children. He said he didn’t want any more kids. I… never knew he was that scared.” Lina sobbed a little when she said that.

Grace had witnessed for herself how Hadwin Stephenson went through the days when her best friend was in a coma, so she could understand Hadwin Stephenson’s fear. “Men might look strong sometimes. It’s as if they can handle the sky if it falls and take care of anything. But sometimes, they can be very fragile too.” It was the same for both Hadwin Stephenson and Jay.

“I just think that I didn’t care enough about him, especially after I woke up. I focused most of my attention on my daughter.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have taken me this long to find out how scared he was,” said Lina.

“And what about you? Are you planning on having another baby?” asked Grace.

Lina hesitated for a moment, but she eventually shook her head. “I don’t want him to be that scared anymore. If I do get pregnant, perhaps he’ll be in fear from the moment I find out I’m pregnant until I give birth to the baby.” If that was the case, her pregnancy would be almost a year of mental torture for him.

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Chapter 2233-She would like to have more children because their family would be more lively that way.

However, if it was at the cost of him being in fear for so long, then maybe… one child was enough.

“Whatever it is, Hadwin Stephenson really loves you. Lina, you picked the right man,” said Grace.

“I know, right?” Lina chuckled. “He has done so much for me. I’ll treat him well for the rest of my life.” The two were speaking when there was suddenly a commotion outside the lounge. Lina frowned. “What’s going on outside?” “We’ll find out once we get outside,” said Grace.

They walked out of the lounge, only to see a group of people carrying boxes into the banquet hall. They were led by Chandler Hunter, the little boy from the Hunter family. He was accompanied by the middle- aged man called Uncle Andy.

Everyone in the banquet hall was looking on in curiosity, wondering who the boy might be.

Some people could already recognize that the boxes they brought in were made of superior fragrant rosewood, and the carvings on them were so exquisite that the boxes themselves were almost like works of art. It made people wonder what was inside them!

Chandler Hunter walked up to Lina and Hadwin Stephenson. He said politely, “Hello, Uncle and Aunt. My father asked me to bring you the betrothal gifts today.” “Your father?” murmured Lina. Speaking of which, she had never seen the child’s parents.

“My father said since we’ve decided on the engagement, we should send over the betrothal gifts, lest it’s not deemed official,” the little one said matter-of-factly.

Uncle Andy came forward and handed Hadwin Stephenson a gift list. “This is the Hunter family’s betrothal gift list. The things in the boxes are only part of it. The rest will be delivered to you later.” Everyone in the banquet hall was immediately in an uproar. ‘Betrothal gift list? The things in the boxes are only part of it?

‘Who exactly is the Hunter family?’ ‘From the looks of it, they’re no ordinary people!’ After seeing Hadwin Stephenson accept the gift list without rejecting it, the crowd instantly understood that Tina Stephenson’s marriage had already been arranged for her.

Tina Stephenson’s future groom would be that little boy wearing a smart little suit!

Even the families with little boys who had set their sights on Tinal Stephenson could not help admitting that the little boy from the Hunter family indeed had good looks. He could defeat most kids his age with his looks alone, not to mention his family background.

Not many families present could even afford those boxes!

Lina offered Chandler Hunter and Uncle Andy to have a seat, but Chandler Hunter walked over to Tina Stephenson’s cradle to see her.

It was as if the party did not matter and Tina Stephenson was what mattered the most.

He never liked attending such events where strangers would surround him and look at him like he was a monkey. However, his father said that many people were after Tina, so he must come and stay by his future wife’s side to make sure that he would get her in the future!

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Chapter 2234-Looking at Tina Stephenson, who was still asleep in her cradle, Chandler Hunter’s little face beamed with satisfaction.

The triplets and Nelson were meeting Chandler Hunter for the first time. Jasper asked Chandler Hunter curiously, “What’s a betrothal?” After all, the word ‘betrothal’ was a word she had never heard before.

Chandler Hunter pressed his lips together and ignored them.

Nelson Corbyn answered Jasper Reed, “It’s a tradition where a man brings gifts to the bride’s house and expresses his will to marry her. If the bride’s family accepts the gifts, it means they’re willing to let him marry their daughter.” Nelson Corbyn was only in the third grade, but he knew many things because he enjoyed reading.

Jasper listened with a hazy notion. She understood the idea of marriage. It meant two people getting married-just like her daddy and mommy. Then, they could have babies and be with each other forever.

Just then, Tina Stephenson woke up and started wailing. She was obviously signaling that it was time to feed her.

Chandler Hunter reached out and carried Tina Stephenson out of the cradle.

Strangely enough, the baby, who was wailing, stopped and stared at Chandler Hunter with her dark eyes.

Chandler Hunter held the baby skillfully. He was clearly no stranger. Later, he took the milk from the nanny and fed the baby.

It was a somewhat rare sight to see a seven to eight-year-old child feed a one-month-old baby, especially when the child looked familiar with what he was doing. It was as if he had fed her that way many times, and he fed her… so frankly and matter-of-factly!

Many people were stunned.

Chandler Hunter did not care about the eyes on him. All his attention was on Tina Stephenson. After Tina Stephenson finished drinking, he began to burp her, which surprised the guests again.

However, the guests now understood that the child from the Hunter family was probably going to the Stephenson family’s future son-in-law. After all, the Stephenson family trusted him enough to let him carry their baby for such a long time. They even seemed unfazed by it.

It was obvious that the little boy from the Hunter family had carried the baby many times before.

Once the party was over, Kyla bade goodbye to Lina. Grace was just about to say that she would arrange a driver to send them home but Martin Weiss spoke first, “I’ll have my driver send them home.” Grace saw that Kyla had no intention of rejecting, so she said nothing.

When Martin Weiss walked out of the hotel with Kyla, Mrs. Corbyn, and Nelson, a figure suddenly rushed out from the side. They apologized repeatedly when they saw Martin Weiss.

“Mr. Weiss, I didn’t know what was good for me that day and got carried away. Please spare the Lambert family, Mr. Weiss!” Kyla looked over. It was Mr. Lambert who was in the private room that day.

However, Mr. Lambert looked different from the glamorous man that day. He looked like someone else entirely. His chin was full of stubble, his hair was a little messy, and he looked unkempt.

Martin Weiss only pushed Mr. Lambert away.

“The Weiss family doesn’t have any business dealings with the Yu family. Why did you come looking for me?”

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Chapter 2235-doing business with us all of a sudden. When I asked them, they said I’ve offended someone.” “Oh, really? You must have offended many people, then, Mr. Lambert,” Martin Weiss said indifferently.

Mr. Lambert had no choice but to suffer in silence.

He… He was usually quite arrogant and had offended many people, but he was rich and knew a lot of people in the triads. Therefore, he could easily smooth things over each time there was a problem.

However, he hit a snag with Martin Weiss this time. This was not something his family could settle.

He only thought that Kyla was only Martin Weiss’s lover. She meant nothing to him despite being pregnant. He merely humiliated Kyla, but Martin Weiss humiliated him back afterward. He got a taste of his own medicine.

He thought it was the end of the matter, but many of his family’s businesses were affected in the following days. It even affected their capital chain, and the bank would not even loan them The Lamber family would be dead meat if it went on like this.

Seeing that Martin Weiss and his group were about to leave, Mr. Lambert suddenly said, “Mr. Weiss, you don’t want the scandal between you and Miss Corbyn to be exposed, do you?” “Scandal?” Martin Weiss suddenly stopped and narrowed his eyes slightly.

Kyla also frowned. Then, she asked her mother to take Nelson into the car first.

Mrs. Corbyn worriedly looked at Mr. Lambert. She was about to leave with her grandson at her daughter’s cue, but Nelson refused to go. He insisted on staying with Kyla to protect her.

“Mr. Weiss, you brought Miss Corbyn to the party today and Miss Corbyn is dressed up so beautifully. But I’m afraid few people know that Miss Corbyn has been to prison…” Mr. Lambert thought he had something on Martin Weiss and deliberately lowered his voice as if he was afraid others might hear him.

Martin Weiss’s eyes turned cold as his thin lips were pressed together into a straight line. His expression turned grim.

Mr. Lambert felt more assured that he had gotten Martin Weiss’s weak point when he saw that. Therefore, he spoke with more enthusiasm, “Miss Corbyn got pregnant out of wedlock. The baby is going to be a bastard when they’re born. If others find out your have a bastard child and that a woman who has been to prison gave birth to them, it’ll probably damage your and the Weiss family’s reputation, Mr. Weiss.” When Nelson heard the word ‘bastard’, his young face seemed gloomy.

It was because many people would call him a bastard when they called him names.

He had no idea what a bastard was when he was little. After he grew up and understood it, he felt the weight of the word more and more.

Kyla saw the gloom on her son’s face and felt a pang in her heart. She lunged over to her son, gripped his hand with one hand, and said to Mr. Lambert, “You have no right to call my son that!” Mr. Lambert said, “But people will talk, won’t they? Miss Corbyn, you seem smart. Why don’t you advise Mr. Weiss not to make a big deal out of this? Otherwise, everyone’s going to suffer if I expose this!”

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Chapter 2236-Martin Weiss looked at Mr. Lambert coldly as if he wanted to freeze Mr. Lambert to death!

“Everyone’s going to suffer?” Martin Weiss raised his hand and punched Mr. Lambert, sending him to the ground.

The commotion attracted the attention of the departing guests and caused an uproar.

Mr. Lambert staggered to get up from the ground, but Martin Weiss soon grabbed Mr. Lambert’s collar ruthlessly, almost lifting him from the ground. “I won’t let you off if you do anything to Kyla. The Lambert family can forget about ever gaining a foothold in Emerald City. I’ll keep my word!” Mr. Lambert was beaten into a rage. He had already compromised so much, yet this was what he got.

Seeing that Martin Weiss did not want to cut the Lambert family any slack, Mr. Lambert shouted, “Okay, Martin Weiss. I gave you a chance, but you didn’t want it! Listen here, everyone! The woman standing next to Mr. Martin Weiss is an ex-convict. She’s also pregnant out of wedlock! She’s carrying Martin Weiss’s baby, but Martin Weiss didn’t even give her a title. But then again, she’s an ex-convict!” Not far away, Jacqueline Bowman, who was walking out of the party’s venue with Neal Reid, also saw the scene. A faint smile. flashed across the corner of her lips. Sure enough, it was just as she had expected.

How could someone like Martin Weiss forgive Mr. Lambert easily when he had made a move against him?

With Mr. Lambert’s character, he would expose the fact that Martin Weiss was keeping Kyla as his lover and was an ex-convict to humiliate Martin Weiss if he did not get what he wanted.

Just like what was happening now… However, to Jacqueline Bowman’s surprise, a woman’s voice suddenly rang out. “Miss Corbyn was wrongly convicted and it was a miscarriage of justice. The courts have retried the case and cleared Miss Corbyn’s name. What you’re saying can be regarded as slander. And you chose to say it at a time like this, which means you’re obviously hoping the rumor will spread. Miss Corbyn may bring this to court, and you may be sentenced to up to three years in prison if convicted!” Jacqueline Bowman looked at the speaker with a surprised look on her face. The speaker was Grace, the wife of Emerald City’s famous Young master Reed.

Grace was surrounded by wives of rich businessmen and socialites at today’s party, but she was now standing up for Kyla.

What surprised her more was when she saw Grace walk up to Kyla and ask, “Kyla, I’ll represent you if you want to go after this man. through the law.” Kyla looked gratefully at Grace. “Thank you, Grace.” “Don’t mention it. You’re my children’s godmother!” Grace said, deliberately letting everyone around them hear that.

Jacqueline Bowman was shocked when she heard that. ‘Kyla’s… the godmother of the Reed family’s triplets?’ ‘What’s going on here? Kyla is just a store owner. She has no money or power. How could she be the triplets’ godmother?’ After all, Kyla could do anything she wanted in Emerald City with that identity!

“Even… Even if she was wrongly convicted, she… She’s still Martin Weiss’s lover! She got pregnant out of wedlock and is willing to be a rich man’s lover. How could the Reed family let someone like that be their children’s godmother? Mrs. Reed, don’t… Don’t let this woman fool you!”

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Chapter 2237-Martin Weiss was still grabbing his collar, and Mr. Lambert naturally recognized Grace, so he immediately said that. After all, he would really be finished if he also offended the Reed family!

Therefore, he could only continue to throw mud at Kyla so that the Reed family would vent their anger on Kyla instead. That way, he would be able to keep himself out of it.

However, what Martin Weiss said made Mr. Lambert lose his last glimmer of hope.

“Kyla is my wife! She’s the only wife I’ll ever have. Who are you to judge her? You’ll pay for every word you said today!” Martin Weiss suddenly threw Mr. Lambert on the ground and looked condescendingly at him.

Mr. Lambert shivered, unable to believe what he had heard!

‘Kyla is… Martin Weiss’s wife! They’re already… married?

‘Martin Weiss even said Kyla is the only wife he’ll ever have in front of so many people!’ However, he learned from Jacqueline Bowman that Kyla only had a shabby store and lived in the house behind it. How did she become Martin Weiss’s wife?!

No matter what the real reason was, Mr. Lambert knew he was done for, and so was the Lambert family.

Jacqueline Bowman, who was standing not far away, was even more shocked.

‘Kyla is… Martin Weiss’s wife? She’s not his hidden lover?’ ‘How could it be? How could Martin Weiss marry a woman who has been to prison? Although Kyla was wrongly convicted, it’s an indisputable fact that she was in prison for more than three years!’ Looking at Kyla who was standing beside Martin Weiss and being carefully protected by him, Jacqueline Bowman felt a fit of deep jealousy!

They were both ex-convicts, but why was Kyla able to marry Martin Weiss while she could not even get a title from someone like Neal Reid?

“It seems your friend is no ordinary person!” Neal Reid’s voice rang in Jacqueline Bowman’s ears. “I didn’t expect her to be Martin Weiss’s legitimate wife. Didn’t you claim to have a good relationship with her and that you helped her out a lot in prison? What’s the matter? Did she never even mention that to you?” Jacqueline Bowman was embarrassed. She thought she knew everything about Kyla but in the end… Kyla had kept the greatest secret from her!

Kyla had been waiting to see her make a fool of herself!

If Jacqueline Bowman was the one who said what Mr. Lambert had said today, she would be the one greatly humiliated!

Neal Reid said, “You’d better maintain a good relationship with this friend of yours. Whether the Hunter family can be friends with the Weiss family depends on how close you are! If the Hunter family can get on the Weiss family’s good side, then you’ll have much to gain. Don’t let me down again.” Jacqueline Bowman shuddered. Looking at the man beside her, she suddenly felt an intense reluctance.

‘Is this all I can get? I’m no worse than Kyla. I’m even younger and prettier than her, but why are our fates so different?’ “Okay, got it,” Jacqueline Bowman looked down and replied obediently.

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Chapter 2238-Grace handled the scene. Those who did not want to offend the Reed family naturally would not tell anyone about the fiasco, and there would not be any gossip news about it published online.

Martin Weiss had his driver send Kyla, Mrs. Corbyn, and Nelson back to the store while his car followed behind.

After watching Kyla, Mrs. Corbyn, and Nelson enter the store, his car was still parked not far from the store. He stared blankly at the lights inside.

He had always liked to look at the lights inside the store from this position. It made him feel close to Kyla. If he was lucky, he could see her taking out the trash.

However, he could no longer stay here. She would be scared if he got close, and he had promised her that he would stay away.

He was already lucky to see her and even get close to her tonight.

Just then, the door to the store suddenly opened and Nelson Corbyn ran out.

Nelson Corbyn ran to the car and gently rapped on the door.

Martin Weiss was a little stunned. He opened the door and got down from the car. “What’s wrong? Did something happen to your mother?” There was inconcealable anxiety in his voice, and he subconsciously wanted to run to the store.

“No, Mommy’s fine,” said Nelson Corbyn as he looked at his father sternly. “Thank you for protecting Mommy tonight.” He wanted to protect his mother when Mr. Lambert showed up today, but his father reacted first and protected Mommy before he could make a move.

When the bad man talked badly about his mother, he suddenly realized that sometimes, fighting alone would not be enough to protect his mother.

He still could not protect his mother.

However, when his father said that his mother would be the only wife he ever had and that the bad man would pay for what he said, the bad man turned pale and fell to the ground in fear.

At that moment, he was suddenly grateful for the man he had hated so much but who was also his father.

He hated his father for hurting his mother and not protecting her. It was clear that his mother needed protection more than anyone else!

His biggest motivation over the years was to get stronger so that he could protect his mother and grandmother!

When he saw his father protect his mother today, he found his father rather cool! It was as if his hatred for his father was quietly fading away.

Martin Weiss looked at his son and sighed quietly. “You don’t need to thank me. It’s only natural for me to protect your mommy. I owe your mommy so much, and I hate myself for not protecting your mommy sooner.” If he had protected Kyla well, they would not have turned out like this.

Martin Weiss bent over and looked straight at his son’s eyes that were similar to Kyla’s. “Don’t figure things out late like me. If you meet someone you like, protect them no matter what. Don’t regret it afterward.” Nelson Corbyn listened on with a hazy notion. The only people he wanted to protect right now were his mother and grandmother.

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Chapter 2239-‘Someone I like…’ “Do you like Mommy, Daddy?” “Yes, I like her very much,” muttered Martin Weiss.

“Then why did you hurt Mommy like that back then?” Nelson was only nine years old now, but he was not as young as he was back then.

Martin Weiss rubbed his son’s head. “Because I was stupid. I was so foolish. I liked your mommy, but I wouldn’t admit it. I thought I could prove I didn’t like her by hurting her, but it was the stupidest idea!” After a pause, he said, “Nelson, if you ever fall for someone, don’t avoid your feelings as I did. Cherish that person instead. It’s not easy to meet someone you like in this world. Perhaps you’ll only meet a person like that once in your life. When you miss the chance, you might live in pain and regret forever.” It was just like his situation now.

Nelson Corbyn listened carefully. Of course, he had no idea how much this would affect him in the future!

After Nelson Corbyn returned to the store, Martin Weiss smiled bitterly and returned to the car.

Martin Weiss slowly started the car and left once the store’s lights went out.

He wished he could turn back time and not do so many stupid things.

He repeatedly broke Kyla’s trust, eventually making her scared of him!

Now, he only lived for her.

He could give her his body and blood. As long as she was safe, he could also sacrifice his life!

Jacqueline Bowman went to Kyla’s store again the next day.

As soon as she saw Kyla, Jacqueline Bowman could not help but complain, “Kyla, why didn’t you tell me you were Martin Weiss’s wife? I was even worried about you not being able to get anything from Martin Weiss because you had an awkward identity!” Kyla looked at her indifferently. “I just thought it was not worth mentioning.” “What’s the matter? Do you not have a good relationship with Martin Weiss?” Jacqueline Bowman looked as if she wanted to pry into the matter.

Instead of answering, Kyla asked, “What are you doing here today?” Jacqueline Bowman chuckled drily. “I was worried about you. I saw Mr. Lambert approaching you and saying those things in front of so many people yesterday. I was so worried. I even thought of standing up for you. Fortunately, Martin Weiss was there to defend you.” With that said, Jacqueline Bowman seemed to say casually, “By the way, the Reed family’s young madam, Grace, said you’re the godmother of her children. Are you close to the Reed family too?” Kyla said indifferently, “We’re alright. Jacqueline, I’m going to be busy with the store later. Why don’t you go home first if you have no other business here?”

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Chapter 2240-It was pretty much an invitation to leave. Kyla’s attitude toward Jacqueline Bowman at this moment was indifferent and distant.

It upset Jacqueline Bowman. However, with her purpose in mind, she endured it and said, “Kyla, I helped you out a lot back in prison. You can’t forget me now that you’re married to Martin Weiss and are close to the Reed family! You know how I’m doing. Why don’t you put in a good word with Martin Weiss for my man? Doesn’t the Weiss family have a real estate development project in Emerald City recently? Neal happens to have connections. Why don’t you ask Martin Weiss to give him the project?” They could gain a lot of profit if they could get the project.

However, Kyla only replied coldly, “I’ve never gotten involved in his business. If Neal Reid wants this project, just have him bid for it.” Jacqueline Bowman said, “I just think it’s easier to get the project through you. If Neal Reid can get it, he’ll be willing to marry me. Kyla, you can’t ignore my happiness just because you have a good life now! Just consider it as repaying me for helping you out in prison.” ‘A good life.’ Kyla smiled bitterly. Her life now was indeed so much better than when she had just gotten out of prison!

“If you want me to repay you, I can do that in other ways. But there’s nothing I can do about your request.” Kyla looked at Jacqueline Bowman as she rejected her. “Besides, if a man is only willing to marry you because of a mere business deal, just how much do you think he loves you? Also, doesn’t he have to divorce his wife if he marries you? I recall him saying he’s married.” Jacqueline Bowman’s expression changed. “I just want you to put in a good word for me. Won’t you even do me such a small favor? How much he loves me and whether he’s getting a divorce are between him and me!” “I’m sorry, I can’t help you with this.” Kylarejected her.

“You…” Jacqueline Bowman clenched her teeth in hatred. “I didn’t expect you to be so heartless. Now that you’ve married Martin Weiss and become the wife of a rich man, you don’t want others to be happy too? Kyla, so what if you’re Mrs. Weiss? Aren’t you cooped up in this store anyway? If Martin Weiss cared about you, he would’ve taken you to Weiss Residence. Why would he still let you sell all this crap here?” Kyla only looked at Jacqueline Bowman quietly as if whatever she said right now did not bother her.

However, the calmer she was, the stronger Jacqueline Bowman’s resentment grew.

“Martin Weiss will abandon you someday! How long can you be Mrs. Weiss?” Jacqueline Bowman left the store after saying that.

Kyla smiled faintly and looked down at her belly.

She would only be Mrs. Weiss until the baby was born.

When the time came, she would divorce Martin Weiss.

After all, their marriage was only to fend off rumors and give their children a legal identity.

However, for some reason, she was faintly upset at the thought that she would divorce Martin Weiss someday.

‘What am I upset about?’ She smiled bitterly. ‘Martin Weiss and I have never been suitable for each other! It was that way then, and it’s still the same now, isn’t it?’ The day of her pregnancy check-up soon arrived. Kyla took a taxi to the hospital alone. She arrived and had her routine check-up. Then, she went to the washroom while waiting for the report.
