"Well, you said it’s hard to trace the toxin’s origins now that Rhea has died.Would it be a lot easier if she isn’t?"

"Rhea isn’t dead?" Lily asked.

"I’m just saying, what if." He paused and then chose his words more carefully.

"Her death seemed too sudden.It was almost as if she had died on purpose." Lily agreed with him.

"That's right! I feel the same way about it.I’ve dealt with her several times, and she’s cool-headed and almost cold-blooded.Furthermore, she used to be a top student overseas and had received many awards, not to mention she must’ve done more experiments than I have.

How could such a severe explosion happen so suddenly? "Even if it was truly an accident, I doubt she would have no time to escape, let alone get herself burned beyond recognition."

Lily had heard from the police that Rhea’s body was unrecognizable when the firefighters brought her out.Lily thought it was rather suspicious.

‘If it was not to purposely hide something, how could it be so coincidental?’

"However, no evidence shows that the body isn’t Rhea’s.We must wait for the forensic report first."

Alexander sighed mildly and looked at Lily with concern.

Lily raised her brows.

"I just feel that it’s been too hard on you lately.You're pregnant, yet travel here and there while exposing yourself to many dangerous diseases and situations."

Thinking about what had happened recently, he wanted to shield her from all the trouble.He knew she could with these situations, but he was not ready to let go and stop worrying about her.

Lily was stunned as she looked up slightly.

However, she could only see a tiny black mole under his chin.She knew he had also gotten tied up in many things lately and had lost a lot of weight after just recovering from a severe illness.

However, he did not care about it and worried about her instead.

"He’s safe now and still alive."

"What are you doing?" Alexander asked while holding her hand.

Lily moved her phone-holding hand away and said, "I'm calling Olivia to tell her the good news! Oh, did your men tell her?"

‘I bet she’ll be thrilled to discover that Edward is still alive and safel’ Holding her hands with both hands, Alexander stopped her from making the call and said, "You don’t have to tell her.She knows about it."

It was at this moment that Lily sensed that he was acting strangely.He is not thrilled or excited to share the news with her, but rather unhappy.Why?’

"Did something happen?" she asked hesitantly.

‘Edward would never do such a thing, let alone to Alex! Since I knew Alexander, Edward has been the most loyal person I've ever met, and he would lay down his life for my husband.

‘If Edward hadn't risked his life to protect him, Alexander wouldn't have returned in one piece.But now he has blocked Alexander and refused to return to the company? ‘Something is not right indeed! Not knowing why either, Alexander shook his head.

Alexander looked at her and nodded.

"Now?" Lily asked thoughtfully.

"We should be able to make it in time."

Then, checking his watch, he said, "Let’s go together."

Lily had been here before and knew the area well, but before getting out of the car, she couldn't help but think, "How about I call Olivia and let her know we're coming?"

Alexander shook his head.

"Olivia, it’s me! I’m back, and so I’ve come to see you.Alex and..."

She wanted to tell Olivia that she and Alexander had come, but meeting his eyes, she changed her mind.

They waited a while, and Lily was puzzled as to why it took Olivia so long to open the door.

Thankfully, it finally started to open.

Standing at the doorway, Olivia looked worn and had lost weight, making her bulging stomach even more conspicuous.

Lily felt awful when she saw her like that.

"How come you’ve lost so much weight? Haven’t you rested well?"

Not answering, Olivia cleared her throat twice and asked, "Lily, why are you here?"

Lily was baffled by her attitude.

"Can't I come to visit you? Since when have things become so formal between us? What’s the matter with you? You haven't called me lately, and what you said the last time-"

"You...Why are you here too?"

Olivia looked to her side as she listened to Lily, and her eyes went wide seeing Alexander.She spontaneously tried to close the door.

Responding faster, Lily stepped forward and stopped her from shutting the door.

"Olivia, did something happen? Can you tell me what’s wrong? If you have anything to say, spit it out.Don’t dilly- dally.You know how much I hate it!"

Lily grew upset.

She could tolerate Olivia throwing tantrums or even yelling at her, but she could not take it when the woman did not express her anger clearly, and she had to guess what it was all about.

Unable to close the door and seeing Lily getting upset, Olivia let go of the door and turned to go inside.

After a pause, Lily continued, "You're right! Edward was injured and put in danger because he tried to protect Alex.If you hate him because of that, then I can understand."

Surprised, Alexander did not know that Olivia once asked Lily such a question.

‘What does she mean by choosing between her and me? Why does Lily have to make such a choice? How are we on opposing sides?’ He was bewildered, while Olivia looked aggrieved.

"Lily, we’ve known each other for years.Am I someone who would blame others for no reason? Edward was his bodyguard and cared about Alexander's life more than his own.If he got hurt for protecting Alexander, then it’s part of his job.Would I resent him for it?"

Hearing that, Lily grew even more puzzled.

"Then why?"

"Doing his job and being pushed into danger are two different things!"

Taking a deep breath, Olivia fought back her tears and slowly spoke.She lifted her gaze toward the distance, then shifted it onto Alexander.

"It’s good that you’re here.Since we're face-to-face now, I just want to ask you this—why did you push Edward?"

Alexander was perplexed.

‘Why is it that the more I listen, the less I understand?’

In Olivia’s eyes, his expression revealed that he was guilty.

Lily asked, "How could that be possible?"

Lily frowned and looked toward the bedroom.

One bedroom was on both sides of the corridor with the doors closed.

If anyone else was in the apartment unit, the person had to be in either one of those rooms.

"He doesn’t wish to see you!"

Olivia turned around, wiped tears off her face, and said coldly, "There’s nothing to discuss, so just go! He worked for you and willingly saved you, but what you did disappointed him.

Let’s not ever meet again!"

"No!"

Lily said decisively.

"We must talk it out and put the misunderstanding to an end! If Alex truly did it, I would not forgive him, but what if Edward misunderstood the situation? Since we're here, what could be better than them sorting it out together?"

Olivia looked at Lily hesitantly —all this while used to listening to Lily’s instructions and had even worshipped her.

If it were not for what had happened to Edward, she would never hold a grudge against Lily.

Hearing Lily say those words swayed her.

As she hesitated, a deep male voice came from the corridor, "There’s no need.I have nothing to say to Alex!"

The trio looked over and saw Edward emerging from inside in a wheelchair.He pushed the wheels forward and looked like he had lost much weight.

However, his gaze was frigid.

"Edward."

Alexander turned and called out to him before striding over.

"Don’t get any closer!"

Edward stopped pushing the wheels, put up a hand, and looked at Alexander.

"Do not come near me—just stand where you are!"

Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1726-Since Edward had yelled at him, Alexander did not argue and stopped.

"When and how did you return? Why did you block me on your phone? You know I’ve been looking for you.Just what the hell happened?"

Alexander stared into Edward’s eyes, not letting him evade his gaze.His eyes were like an X-ray machine, trying to see through Edward thoroughly.

"I don’t want to talk to you.I have nothing to say to you!"

Edward looked away in disgust and impatience.

"Do you have nothing to say to me, or do you not know how to answer my questions? Maybe you can't find an answer from your prepared speeches," Alexander said.

The more Edward behaved this way, the more Alexander pressed him for an answer.

"I almost died for you and did what I was supposed to do.From now on, I don’t want anything to do with you.You two, leave!"

Agitated, Edward threw what he held at them, including the blanket, on him.

He yelled maniacally.

Lily said patiently.

Olivia looked at Edward and said, "Why don’t you let Lily try it?"

“I told her to call me without Edward knowing and that I’d like to speak to her alone.” Glancing back toward the door, she saw it was closed and whispered her answer.

“yes!” Nodding, Lily looked at him. “Don’t you think there’s something very wrong with Edward?”

“How could there be anything wrong with him? He's been by my side for years. "If I couldn't trust him, I couldn't trust anyone," he said as he looked up at the floor number.

Alexander completely trusted Edward and believed the man felt the same way about him. However, Edward's attitude today made him wonder if he was the person he once knew.

“So you’re not upset that Edward made such an accusation about you?” Cocking her head, Lily sounded more like she was teasing him.

Alexander curled his lips. “Nope!”

The elevator arrived, and the doors opened. As the doors closed behind them, Alexander asked, 'Did you try to take his wrist pulse because you suspect something is physically wrong with him?"

“Oh? Like what?” She curled her lips and acted ignorant. “I just wanted to check if he’s suffering from any injuries. I wasn’t suspecting anything, okay?”

“No?” Alexander playfully pinched her shoulder for being mischievous, then asked, “Don’t you think that his behavior and symptoms are similar to someone we met recently?”

“Yes?” Lily smiled and stopped joking around with him. “Are you talking about Secretary Rollins?”

He threw her a sidelong glance as if he had seen through her.

Seeing her coy look, Alexander chuckled.

She then pulled along face and looked toward him with a frown. “ But you’re wrong!”

“About what?”

“You said if you couldn’t trust Edward, then you could trust no one.”

Hearing her words, Alexander caught himself and had a bad premonition. Before he could explain, he heard her threatening voice, “Are you saying that I can’t be trusted?”

“That’s not what I meant!” Alexander claimed innocence.

Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1729-It was quiet inside the apartment. Olivia looked at Edward, who was sitting there with his head down, then sighed quietly. She then moved two steps closer before stooping to pick up the items off the ground.

There was a blanket, a glass that had been knocked over and shattered, and other miscellaneous items.

She had no idea why Edward had become crankier recently. She thought it was because he was injured and could not stand. After all, after getting wounded and betrayed simultaneously, he must have been devastated.

That was why she could understand and tolerate his temper. But what happened today...

She quietly picked up the pieces of the shattered glass, then carefully threw them into the trash can. Looking on without a word, Edward neither tried to stop her nor offered to help.

Warm tears welled in her eyes as she dried her hands and searched for a Band-Aid. As it was a small cut, it stopped bleeding after she applied the adhesive tape, but she could still feel the pain.

The pain spread like sap flowing through the veins of a leaf and engulfed her entire body.

Coming back, she picked up a large shard and threw it into the trash can. Seeing her actions, Edward grew impatient. “Didn’t I tell you not to—”

“Shut the f*ck up if you don’t want to help!” Suddenly, Olivia flared up at him in anger.

Edward was stunned.

She had probably been too gentle and submissive lately, and he did not know how to react to her outburst. He moved his lips but did not say anything.

Olivia picked up other shards, then got up to take the broom and dustpan to clean up the rest of the garbage. She later opened the refrigerator and took out a can of beer.

Stumped, Olivia felt he seemed to make sense.
