Ch. 2241..2250
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 2241 -Fred had always been an efficient man. He did not delay handing Rhea the information she asked for. She was shocked to realize Fred wanted her to hypnotize a Yudonian prince.
After reading it, she became familiar with the prince’s characteristics. However, she could not understand why Fred wanted to control him instead of the queen.
'Everyone knows the queen has governed the country for decades. She has three sons and some grandchildren, but no one knows who she’ll pass the throne to. So, what's the point of hypnotizing Prince Ross? How does Fred know he’ll be the king?' Rhea could not figure it out but dared not ask Fred about it. She could only study Ross’s information carefully in hopes she could perform the task well and impress Fred.
“Well, since I'll meet the prince soon, I should play it by ear and see how things go,” she told herself.
Fred came that evening and asked, “How's your preparation?” "I'm ready, Your Grace. I've memorized all the information about the prince. You can count on me to complete the task successfully," Rhea answered.
Fred looked deeply at her, assessing whether she was telling the truth. He nodded. "I look forward to it then."
"So when are we doing this?" Rhea asked.
Fred held up a hand. "There's no hurry. I'll tell you when it's the time. Now, just relax and get prepared. Also…"
After a pause, he said meaningfully, "Compared to the hypnosis, I'm more interested in the invisibility potion. When will you be able to develop it?"
"Well…" Rhea frowned. "Now that the vaccine development center has been seized, I no longer have the right equipment and workforce. I'm afraid…"
She wanted to use it as an excuse to say no, but as if anticipating her response, Fred smilingly said, "No worries, you'll have everything you need."
After a pause, he added thoughtfully, "If you want, I can send you to Yudonia, where you can do anything. If you can create the invisibility potion, I'll get everyone to work with you."
Rhea was elated because that was what she wanted most. She wanted the attention, with everyone following her lead.
She thought, 'Everyone should know I'm the most formidable and terrifying person in the world. They should fear and respect me instead of Lily. What has she done to deserve all the attention?
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 2242-"Don't worry, Your Grace. I'm sure I can develop anything. The stuff probably exists since Dr. Blanc could detect traces of an invisibility potion. Perhaps it's still kept in the house where Alexander held me."
"So you know how to make it?" Seeing her scheming look, Fred was pleased. He liked people who were ambitious and cunning. Only they were helpful to him.
"Yes, you can trust me. Also, if you give me some time, I'll prove I can do better than Lily," she said earnestly.
"Lily?" Fred was surprised to hear the name. He had not visited her all day. It was not that he had forgotten about her, but Ross kept asking to see him.
First, the prince said he needed to discuss something important with Fred. Then, the prince mentioned meeting with a foreign minister and wanted Fred to join. Afterward, the prince said he was confused about something.
Fred was frustrated and anxious, but he could not lose his temper. After all, Ross was a prince in the prime of his life and was relatively popular with people. If Fred offended him, things might not go well for him.
Most importantly, if Ross discovered what he was doing, it would ruin Fred’s plan. Therefore, he had to handle the prince patiently, hoping Ross would leave soon.
"Yes, Lily," Not knowing what Fred was thinking, Rhea reiterated, "She's not as capable as you imagine. She failed many times back in the lab, and I saw it myself."
"Why do you hate her so much? Did she do something to you?" Fred asked curiously, sensing her hostility.
Caught off guard, Rhea said, "No, I don't hate her. I'm just stating the facts so she won't fool you."
"Do I look gullible to you?" Fred asked coldly, seemingly upset.
Alarmed, Rhea quickly said, "No, that was not what I meant!"
Fred said, "All right, concentrate on your work. Instead of obsessing over how many times Lily has failed, you should consider how to prove yourself. If you can't succeed and fuck up my plan, you'll never realize your dreams, whatever it is!"
Rhea was most afraid of not getting what she wanted.
Her parents only cared for Anastasia during childhood, and Rhea often could not get what she wanted. Although they later bought Rhea things, she no longer cared about them. Rhea later vowed to get whatever she wanted when she grew up.
However, she realized her goals were challenging now that she was a grown adult.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 2243 -You’ve misunderstood me, Your Grace. Anyway, I'll show you I can do it!" Rhea said despite herself. It was not just a promise to Fred but also to herself. She knew she had to deliver to secure a place in the organization.
Fred had no patience for promises, so he turned and left in a hurry. He wanted to look for changes in the queen and Lily's data and whether everything stayed normal.
Since Ross was around, Fred could only wait until the former left before proceeding with the experiment’s last phase.
Although Ross said he would only be around for three days, he showed no intentions of leaving. He even overstayed for one and a half days.
Worse, Ross hardly went elsewhere. Fred had arranged for a guide to take him around the city. However, the prince claimed he had visited the place a few days ago and wanted to stay in the embassy to discuss national affairs with the duke.
Fred was upset but could do nothing. Still, he had to go downstairs to check out the two's data and conditions. Given his financial resources, he had only one chance. It was the most suitable time to gather data.
If things went wrong and there were no data to refer to later, he would end up in danger.
After getting someone to keep an eye on Ross and stationing his men on every floor, Fred headed toward Lily's room. He had felt uneasy over the past two days.
Fred was not superstitious, but he could not shake off the feeling that something terrible would happen. He did not like it because it would affect his mood. After taking a deep breath, he told the guard to open the door to Lily’s room.
She was lying inside peacefully as if sleeping.
Fred stood at the door and looked at her. Lily’s breathing was even, but her face was pale. He thought it was because she had not gotten much sunlight. Still, Lily seemed to be in a deep sleep.
"Lily," Fred called out grimly.
She did not open her eyes.
Fred sneered.
'Did she think I would fall for it?' He said coldly, "Cut the crap! You should’ve sensed my presence even before I entered the room. Do you think you can avoid everything by pretending to be asleep? That's so naive!"
However, Lily did not respond, no matter what he said.
Fred frowned and neared her. "Lily?"
He struck the floor with the tip of his cane, but she remained still with her eyes closed. She appeared as if she had passed out.
Fred sensed something was amiss and gently poked her with his cane. “Lily? Drop the act so we can talk. Perhaps you might not need to die."
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 2244 -Even after nudging her with his cane, Lily remained still. Fred grew alarmed as the tip of his cane was slightly sharp, which should have stung her. He shook her, shouting, "Lily?! Lily!"
Realizing she was not faking it and might be asleep or dead, he yelled, "Get me a doctor, stat!"
Since guards were outside, they soon fetched several doctors. They anxiously gathered while Fred pointed to Lily in the bed, flustered despite himself. He could not afford to let her die now since he still needed her body.
He wanted to use her to at least test if R10 would work.
'It would be such a pity if she dies now. All my efforts would go to waste. No, I can't let her die now!' Fred thought.
He grabbed a doctor’s collar and shouted, "You must save her!"
Knowing his bad temper, the doctor nervously said, "She's not dead yet, Your Grace! She's just passed out. However, her readings are worsening—"
Fred impatiently pulled him up by his collar. “So?” “This is a bad sign. Lily could be dying…" The doctor did not want to say it, but Fred gave him no choice.
"She's dying?" Fred stared at Lily in disbelief.
'Why would he say that? She's still breathing, isn't she?' "She was fine two days ago. Why is she dying now?" He was unconvinced. "What's wrong with her?"
The doctor's teeth clattered as he stammered, "I-I have no idea. However, the readings show her blood pressure and heart rate are abnormal. Her heartbeat, especially, is so slow that it looks like it's about to stop at any time. There's no doubt that she's dying!"
Although he was afraid, he had to tell the truth. If not, Fred might kill him if Lily suddenly died.
"Her heartbeat is stopping?" Fred let the doctor go and turned to look at the heart rate monitor. Indeed, it was dangerously slow.
"Why is it so slow? Can't you just give her some stimulation?" he suggested.
The doctor waved no. "We can't! If we do, she might not be able to take it. Besides, she's in a coma!"
'How do I stimulate someone still in a coma?' he thought.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 2245 -Fred was furious. "I don't care! Do whatever is necessary to save her. If not, I'll fucking kill you all!" He meant every word he said.
The doctors were there to conduct the data analysis. They monitored the queen and Lily's health to ensure their bodily functions remained optimal. Fred wanted everything perfect to draw the best conclusion based on the results.
Yet, the doctors told him Lily was dying now that he was so close to accomplishing his goals. Fred could not accept it.
‘Why would Lily suddenly end up like this under such tight surveillance?’ Fred asked the guard, "What did she eat yesterday?"
The guard shook his head. "The usual. No one went inside, so she couldn't have eaten anything else."
"That's strange." Fred turned and approached the doctor. "How is she?"
"She's not getting any better. Although her heart rate is slow, it’s still beating. She will live for now, but her condition is bad," the doctor concluded.
After some thought, Fred shoved the doctors aside and grabbed Lily's shoulders. "What the hell have you done to yourself?! Are you out of your fucking mind?! Do you think you can end this if you die?
“I won't let you! You will only die when I say!" He shouted through clenched teeth, "Do you hear me?"
Although he shook Lily hard, she didn't even open her eyes. When he let go, Lily fell heavily onto the bed.
Fred took a deep breath and glared at her. "Save her! Do whatever you must—electric shock, needles, medication, or injection. Do you understand?"
"Y-Yes, Your Grace!" the others stammered.
He nodded. "Stay here until Lily wakes up. If she doesn't…"
He didn't finish the sentence as it was clear what he would do to them.
"Yes, Your Grace," they answered despite feeling upset.
No one knew what was happening. After all, a healthy person would not suddenly fall into a coma. Still, the doctors dared not administer an electric shock because Lily’s heartbeat was weak, and she might be unable to take it.
They could only choose a more cautious approach and attempt to determine the illness she suffere.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 2246-Fred was in a terrible mood when he left the room. He stomped toward the queen's bedroom but stopped when he got near. After changing his mind, he turned and walked back.
Although he had someone watching Ross, he could not risk the prince learning that he had imprisoned the queen there.
Fred might not necessarily lose if Ross were to confront him, but the former did not want to make things difficult for himself.
He went to Ross’s bedroom and thought he was still there. After exchanging looks with his subordinate, Fred knew the prince had not left recently. Feeling somewhat relaxed, Fred knocked on the door. However, There was no response.
'He's not like Lily, is he?' Fred frowned and knocked on the door again. "Your Highness, I need to discuss something with you."
However, there was not even a sound.
Thinking no one was inside, Fred looked to his subordinate, who gestured in confusion that no one had left the room. Fred cleared his throat and knocked harder. "Your Highness? I'm coming in, okay?"
He turned the handle and entered. Suddenly, a cold voice sounded behind him, "Fred, what do you think you're doing?"
Stunned, Fred quickly turned and bowed. "I didn't mean to offend you, Your Highness. I was worried about your safety, so I—"
"So you came into my room without my permission?" Ross asked coldly. He looked like he had just taken a shower with a towel around his waist and hair dripping wet. However, his gaze was cold.
Fred bowed. "I didn't know you were taking a shower, and I was worried. So—"
"Worried about my safety?" Ross plopped onto the sofa. "What's there to worry about? The embassy has many guards and surveillance cameras, right? Why? Is this place unsafe? You’ve failed in your duty if it isn’t."
Fred quickly said, "No, that's not what I meant. Of course, the place is safe, but you aren't used to many things here. I was just worried that you might encounter some minor mishaps while on your own. Anyway, it's best to be careful, Your Highness."
"Are you implying something would happen to me if I’m alone?" Ross said coldly.
"Of course not!" Fred smiled and stepped closer. "It's great that you're fine. Nevertheless, I'll still need to come in without your permission if this happens again. After all, your safety is critical."
Fred lowered his head and added, "Anyway, I'm here to tell you something important."
"Oh?" Ross narrowed his eyes at him. "About what?"
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 2247 -"Well, I have news about Her Majesty."
Ross sat up straight and stared at Fred solemnly. "You do?"
"Yes." Fred nodded. "Her Majesty told me where she was going before leaving, but…"
"You knew?" Ross said menacingly, dragging out the last word. He snorted, "How dare you, Fred? You told me differently back then."
Fred looked apologetic. "I had my reasons for lying to you, Your Highness. Her Majesty forbade me from telling anyone."
"So you're saying my mom didn't want you to tell me where she is?" Knowing so, Ross relaxed and leaned back, gazing suspiciously at Fred with a raised brow.
"I'm afraid so." Fred nodded. "Her Majesty said I must keep it a secret before she left. Her Majesty hasn't contacted me since. She probably doesn't want me to know where she is, either. That's why I didn't tell you about it immediately, Your Highness."
"So mysterious, huh?" Ross smiled. "Then why are you telling me now? Aren't you defying my mom's order?"
Fred frowned and clenched his fists. Taking a step nearer, he hung his head low and said, "You're right. I'm disobeying her order because… I think Her Majesty might be in danger."
"What?" Ross grew alarmed and solemn.
"It's been almost two weeks since Her Majesty left here, but I've not heard from her. To be honest, I was worried about her, so I sent someone to follow her in secret. However, he lost track of her due to some hiccup.
"I thought Her Majesty would return soon, but I was wrong,” Fred became anxious, continuing, "That's why I decided to tell you about it, Your Highness, even if it means defying her order.
"I can only count on you now, Your Highness!" He knelt on one knee and bowed as Yudonians did. He looked genuinely anxious and worried.
Ross stared at him with his arms crossed and snorted. "Fred, you're indeed loyal to my mom, aren't you?"
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 2248-"Your Highness, I know you're upset and worried about Her Majesty's safety, but what matters most is to locate her now.
You can punish me however you like after she returns safely. I know I've failed you and her," Fred said earnestly.
"Then tell me, how am I supposed to find her?" Ross gazed coldly at him.
Fred answered, "It's best if someone could look for Her Majesty so we know she's safe."
"Are you suggesting I approach the Hyderland government?" Ross said, raising his brow.
Fred shook his head. "Of course not! The less people know about it, the better. If not, this would put Her Majesty in even greater danger."
"You don’t want to alert the authorities here? Fred, do you think we're in our country? Would they let you do whatever you like in Hyderland?" Ross slammed the coffee table.
Startled, Fred continued, "Your Highness, I know I might sound unreasonable, but think about it. If this gets out, it’ll endanger Her Majesty, and the government here will know she has been secretly looking around the country.
“It would significantly impact the ties between our countries and how the world sees us. Therefore, we can only do it in secret," Fred said.
Ross sipped some water and asked, "Can't we track her phone's location?"
"We tried. We could no longer trach Her Majesty after her last contact with me. I figure she must’ve gone to a more remote area. As you know, there are many mountainous regions in Hyderland, and she might not be getting any signal there."
His explanation sounded reasonable, but Ross was upset. "You knew she was going on a long journey, yet you allowed her to go all alone? What the hell were you thinking?"
"Your Highness, I wanted to keep her company but was tied up with my work. If I were absent for too long, people might get suspicious. Moreover, Her Majesty didn't want to attract too much attention and insisted on going on a journey alone —"
Ross interrupted, "A journey for what?"
"She is trying to find ancient books on medicine and healing traditions among the local tribes. I'm unsure because she hasn't told me in detail." Scratching his head, Fred looked quite puzzled.
"You knew nothing, yet you allowed her to put herself in danger?" Ross glared at him. "You should be ashamed of yourself!"
"I couldn't stop her, Your Highness!" Fred exclaimed innocently. "Besides, she only brought several guards and attendants and hurriedly left. I… Your Highness, let's not delay it any longer. You must locate Her Majesty as soon as possible before anything bad happens!"
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 2249-“Why don’t you tell me how we’re supposed to find her?” Ross asked steadily.
“Well, we can get a few trusted men to look for her secretly. It’s better if they are close to Her Majesty so they can persuade her,” Fred studied Ross’s expression and answered carefully, “If not, she might not want to return, even if we find her.” Nodding, Ross said, “According to you, it seems I’m the only suitable candidate, aren’t I?” “You?” Fred looked astonished, then nodded as if catching on. “That’s right!
You’re the perfect candidate for the task, Your Highness! You’re supposed to be returning to Yudonia soon.
“If we tell others you’ve returned, no one would know where you are. You can look for the queen secretly—when you do, you’re the only person who can change her mind. You could make her if she refuses to listen, and no one would hold it against you.” Fred nodded as he spoke, as if he grew increasingly convinced of his own words.
“That was an excellent suggestion, Your Highness. “He gave Ross a worried look. “I’m sorry you must deal with this since the place you’ll be going to is far and could be dangerous. Of course, I’m sure Her Majesty would be relieved knowing how much you’ve done for her.” Ross listened and smiled faintly. “Why do I suspect you’ve planned for this?” “What do you mean, Your Highness? You were the one who suggested it, weren’t you? I only agree with your suggestion.
Of course, it’s understandable if you don’t feel like going. After all, the trip could be dangerous.
“Since we don’t know whether or not Her Majesty is safe, we might be in trouble if anything were to happen to you as well,” sighing, he said, “Anyway, I wonder when Her Majesty would return. Bad things might happen if she doesn’t.” Fred’s implications were evident—if they delayed any longer, the queen’s life would be in danger, and the prince didn’t want to go because he was scared. In other words, the prince didn’t even bother with his mother’s life due to his cowardice.
It was a clever move. If Ross went to look for his mother, Fred could get rid of him and even land him in danger. If Ross refused, he would look like he did not care about his mother’s safety and might even be scheming to take her throne.
It would only destroy Ross’s reputation back in Yudonia.
Fred looked earnestly at him as if he was only taking orders from Ross.
However, the latter was not angry or troubled by the dilemma. He simply smiled and looked pensively at Fred.
“Your Highness, what’s your decision?” Fred could not help but ask. He then added, “Don’t worry. Whatever you decide, I’m sure you have your reasons. No one will hold it against you.”
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 2250-Ross nodded, "Of course, no one will. That’s because I've found a better candidate."
"Who?" Seeing his smile, Fred had a hunch it was something terrible. He said, "Whoever it is, no one is more fitting than you, Your Highness. After all, you're—"
Before he could finish, Ross interrupted, "Fred!"
Puzzled, Fred answered, "Yes?"
"I'm talking about you," Ross said with a chuckle. He got up and slowly paced around the room. "You're my mom's most trusted right-hand man, and she listens to you.
“You also know her the best. You're the best candidate there is. Besides, I'm sure you're worried about her safety, right?"
It was a casual remark, but Fred was stumped. Ross was trying to put him in a dilemma like Fred did to him just now. If Fred said he was worried, he must follow Ross' plan.
"I—"
Ross continued, "It's fitting for me to go, but what if I have an accident or encounter any danger? What will happen if my mom and I can't return?"
"Your Highness, I—"
"You're afraid to say it out loud, right?" Ross gave him no chance to retort. "When that happens, Yudonia will be in chaos because my two younger brothers and other members of the royal families will fight for the throne. It’ll be disastrous.
"Besides, what will happen to the ties between Yudonia and Hyderland if my mom and I have an accident here? What will happen to you?" he asked sternly, then glared at Fred. "You're in charge here. Do you think others will let you off the hook?"
Fred struggled for an answer because he knew Ross was right.
"That's why it's most fitting that you go. Do you know my mom listens to you more than she does to me? Besides, your absence won't affect the embassy much."
Ross made a hushing gesture and continued, "Don't tell me you're needed here. I can handle the work here. If I can't cope, I can always get help.
“Besides, you’ve always been running this place, and it won't stop without you. So you should stay by my mom's side now, not here. Just go, Fred!"
