Chapter 2171 Beginning of the Plan

Tate’s expression froze slightly.

“But this isn’t good for us. We occupied this place not long ago, and we haven’t taken down the partners completely. If the old master makes a move, wouldn’t we be in a passive position?”

Sean’s expression was gloomy as he narrowed his dangerous and sharp eyes.

Tate looked eager, which was rare.

"Boss, we must prepare in advance. Otherwise, our chances of winning won’t be high once they attack. Unless...”

“Unless what?”

“Unless we can make a deal with Snakehead. He’s the boss here, and Southeast Asia’s biggest drug lord. If we can cooperate with him, we don’t have to worry about the old master’s threats.”

Yvette listened to Tate’s words and felt her heart pounding.

She vaguely realized something and subconsciously looked at Tate. Tate's face was dark, as if he was just being thoughtful for Sean.

Sean also trusted Tate.

The room was silent, so much so that Yvette could not even hear their breathing.

Sean pondered for a full minute before he said, “I talked to Snakehead today. He’s a shrewd man who’s tight-lipped and has cooperated with the old master for a long time. He will only give up on the old master’s business if we can give him more benefits.”

Tate was silent.

“We need to make a loss first so that we can express our sincerity.”

Sean closed his eyes and let out a sigh of relief. When he opened his eyes again, they were dark and indecipherable.

“That’s the only way. You should send someone to contact them and determine the time and place. I’ll do the transaction in person.”

Tate frowned with disapproval.

“You’re going in person? That’s too dangerous. Let me...”

Sean raised his hand to interrupt him.

“This time, I must go in person. Don’t worry. We’re not in Mediania, so no one’s watching us. I just need to establish this channel with him, then it’ll be more convenient for you guys to go in the future.”

Tate nodded solemnly.

“I’ll go with you.”

“Okay.”

Sean nodded and looked at the sky outside the window.

“Is Mr. Cash’s body still around?”

Tate replied, “Yes. He was shot in the head by Tres’s woman and died miserably, but he asked for it.” 1

Sean chuckled lightly. His expression relaxed a bit.

“Burn his body and send his ashes to the old master. Tell them that Tres’s woman shot him because he suddenly barged in and killed Tres. I’ve already avenged Mr. Cash by getting rid of that woman.”

Tate’s eyes flickered in the dark

“The old master won’t believe it.”

Sean smiled and looked at him a little helplessly.

“Don’t be so straightforward. Didn’t Farley teach you to be tactful? This is just a reason. It’s up to him to believe it or not. If he’s testing me, I want to test him too.” 1

Tate nodded, glanced at Yvette, and stood up.

“Then I’ll go and get ready first. Boss, you should rest early.”

Sean nodded, then Tate nodded at Yvette politely.

After he left, Sean held Yvette’s hand, which seemed warm.

“Did you understand what we said?”

He teased her.

Yvette lowered her eyes, blinked, and said with a bit of anger, “I’m not stupid, so I understood what you said. You and the old master are just testing and trying to kill each other, right?”

Sean was taken aback for a moment and grinned.

“Yvette, you look dumb, but you’re actually quite smart.”

Sean and Tate did not mention a word about wanting to kill the old master, but Yvette guessed it anyway.

Yvette snorted lightly and did not bother to take the tray downstairs. She put them on the table not far away and went to the bathroom to wash up.

From a distance, Sean could hear Yvette’s voice saying, “Sean, have you ever thought that you would one day be like Tres and die tragically?”

Was this the kind of life that he wanted?

Sean did not answer and silently looked at her with complicated and thoughtful eyes.

Yvette did not hear an answer, but she did not care and closed the door to take a shower.

She was in shock all day because what happened earlier was frightening enough that her heart was pounding.

Sean was injured, so she was not worried that he would do anything to her.

On the contrary, she calmed down and tried to relax.

After washing up, she went out in her pajamas.

Sean had not slept yet. After the injection, his hands were still wrapped in gauze.

At this time, he looked at Yvette, who came out of the bathroom, with such tender and soft eyes.

He picked up the towel on the side, asked her to sit next to him, and wiped her hair.

Yvette’s slightly stiff body gradually relaxed.

She looked out of the dark window. The man behind her was very gentle as he rubbed her hair. Even if the movement triggered his

own wound, the pain was insignificant to him.

In the end when her hair was almost dry, she was too sleepy to keep her eyes open while she sat on the bed.

The day’s intense events frightened and exhausted her. It also put her under too much mental pressure.

Sean smiled and gently kissed her hair.

“Yvie, blow your hair dry before going to bed.”

Yvette muttered something and lay down without moving.

Sean was helpless. Since he could not get out of bed, he could only watch her fall asleep.

While Yvette was half asleep, Sean hugged her waist tightly and brought her close to his slightly cold body.

His deep and hoarse voice lingered in her ears like it was a dream.

“Yvie, are you worried about me?”

Before Yvette went to wash up, she asked him if he was afraid of dying suddenly like Tres.

He did not speak because he was scared.

Why would he not be afraid?

Ever since he started doing this business, he had been afraid all the time.

However, this kind of fear became a habit that seemed thrilling to him.

Knowing that he would not live a good life, Sean still wanted to keep Yvette by his side.

He just lived day by day.

Sean murmured in a low voice, “I won’t die. I’ll surely live a long life.”

Yvette had a long and deep sleep.

When she woke up, Sean was no longer by her side.

She could vaguely hear someone talking outside.

Yvette frowned and got up from the bed to wash up and get dressed.

Soon, the chef, Farley, came over and asked her to go downstairs for breakfast.

Yvette went downstairs calmly and saw everyone sitting downstairs.

They watched as Yvette came down the stairs and nodded politely.

Yvette also nodded in response.

When Sean saw her, his gaze turned gentle for a moment.

“You’re awake? Do you want to eat something?”

Yvette frowned and looked at him.

“Why did you come down here? Your wound hasn’t healed yet, so you shouldn’t move around.”

Sean smiled. “It’s okay. It’s already much better.”

Someone next to Sean said meaningfully, “The boss came downstairs because he was afraid that we’ll disturb your sleep when we talk. He doesn’t want to disturb you or let you go hungry. Tsk tsk... What a lovesick guy! Tres and his woman aren’t around anymore, but the boss and Ms. Quimbey are just as lovey dovey...” 1

Chapter 2172 Important Transaction

The few subordinates on the side laughed in a low voice.

Yvette blushed and walked away because she could not stand them.

If she was not Yvette Quimbey and if she did not go through so much, then she might be touched by all the thoughtful things that Sean did for her.

Unfortunately, her heart was still.

Sean looked at her back and smiled warmly.

He coughed.

“Tate, have you contacted Snakehead yet?”

The chef was busy in the dining room, setting up the table with his dishes as well as some local specialties.

“Ms. Quimbey, come and try some! The boss bought these local specialties elsewhere because he was afraid that the ones I made weren’t authentic!”

He snickered and went back into the kitchen.

Yvette smiled, lowered her head, and ate seriously.

She could not get used to the local specialties and frowned after taking a bite.

Fortunately, the chef’s cooking was comparable to that of a Michelin chef. He was very skillful. Yvette stayed in the villa for a while.

The next day, Sean took her out. She did not know whether his purpose was to let her relax or something else, but not too many people followed them.

Only Tate and the chef came along.

Yvette did not find a chance to talk to Tate again during this time.

They had fun every day and seemed to be enjoying a peaceful life until an afternoon half a month later. 1

Yvette was tired from shopping, so she went back to the cruise ship to rest. After taking a nap, Sean woke her up.

Yvette frowned, and Sean coaxed her patiently.

“Get up. I’ll take you to an important place.”

Yvette narrowed her eyes and stood up without thinking much about it.

“Where are we going?”

“You’ll know when we get there.”

Sean took her hand and went out.

The cars were ready outside.

However, it seemed a little excessive. It was unlike their low-key style before. Several black cars were parked outside, and the people standing beside the cars were all well-armed and wore sunglasses.

They were unfamiliar faces to Yvette and looked very intimidating. Yvette paused and thought, ‘Who are these people?’

She could recognize most of the people who lived in the villa.

Those in front of her were strangers who looked stern and disciplined like professional mercenaries.

Sean patted her on the shoulder, took her hand, and walked toward the car.

The chef changed and wore a bulletproof vest. His usual cynical smile was also restrained.

He opened the door for them with a stern expression.

Yvette glanced at him before she bent over and got into the car. She suddenly felt tense.

Something big must be happening since there were so many people.

However, she did not see Tate earlier.

Why was Tate not here?

Yvette pursed her lips, looked at Sean, and wanted to ask about Tate’s whereabouts, but she was afraid of alarming Sean. She felt uneasy and apprehensive.

The car roared away and drove to a completely strange place.

Yvette looked nervous. She could not help it anymore and asked Sean, “Where are we going? Is it dangerous?”

Sean stared at her face with deep and dark eyes that concealed his emotions.

He held her palm and smiled.

“Don’t worry, I won’t put you in danger.”

Yvette paused. “Then tell me, where are we going all of a sudden?

Why are there so many strangers with us?”

Farley, who was in front, smiled coldly. He had a stern look that he had never shown before. “That’s because everyone you know went in another direction.”

Yvette shuddered, frowned, and looked at them with a puzzled expression.

At this moment, Sean had a cynical and ruthless smile. No one could read his deep thoughts.

Yvette’s heart kept sinking.

She had a premonition that Sean was going to an important place that was related to the plan that Tate had mentioned before.

However, Sean pretended to ask Tate to contact Snakehead. In fact, Sean did not trust anyone to be in his plan.

The real participants in this plan were only Sean and Farley, who had always taken a step back from such transactions.

Now, they included Yvette.

Yvette took a deep breath and watched the ever-changing scenery outside the window.

She could hear the convoy behind them.

Her palms were sweating from nervousness because this was too unexpected.

Her eyelids twitched when she thought of something.

Yvette raised her hand and casually pinched her ear. Then, she put her hand down again and looked outside calmly.

She did not know how it would turn out, but she hoped that all this would end soon.

In the next second, Sean’s hand landed on her earlobe. He squinted his eyes and said, “Why have you been wearing this earring for the past few days? Don’t you like the jewelry I gave you?”

In an instant, Yvette’s body stiffened. She felt a sense of danger and coldness.

She looked at him as if nothing was wrong and tried her best to conceal her emotions with a calm smile.

“This is a South American diamond that has the best clarity. It’s also versatile. What do you know?”

She frowned and showed her dissatisfaction at Sean’s comment on her jewelry preferences.

Sean smiled helplessly and pinched her earlobe.

“Okay, okay. Since you like South American diamonds, I’ll give you a big one when this transaction is over. This diamond is too small for you.”

Yvette hugged his arm and smiled happily.

“You said so! I won’t want anything less than five carats.”

Sean dotingly stroked her head.

How could he refuse such a small request?

Sean would give Yvette diamonds, gold, luxury goods, or whatever she wanted.

The car drove very fast. Soon, a layer of black bulletproof glass rose over the car windows. The car also sped through a tunnel.

Yvette was nervous and a little surprised.

“What’s this?”

Sean explained, “Bulletproof glass.”

Yvette gulped and felt even more disturbed.

The bulletproof glass was not raised earlier. Now that it was raised, it indicated that they were arriving at their destination, which was extremely dangerous.

Yvette clutched her chest in a panic and wondered if it was too late. She wondered whether Nicole would notice her call for help.

Sean smiled and said, “Don’t be scared. We’ve negotiated this deal for a long time, so it’s very safe. No one will know about this. As long as this transaction is completed, I can completely get out of the old master’s grasp, and he can no longer hold me back.”

Yvette seemed to be in disbelief. “How can it be so simple?”

Farley, who was in front, smiled and said, “Ms. Quimbey, don’t underestimate the boss. He’s independent of the old master now. He’s already showing the old master respect by not making a fuss. The last time when Mr. Cash died in our hands, the old master did not reprimand us when we sent Mr. Cash’s body back. He only told the boss not to take it to heart. This shows that the old master isn’t confident that he can beat the boss.”

Sean curled his lips. His voice was nonchalant as he said humbly, “ We still have to be careful. The old master is a cunning man who has been in the business for decades. Who knows if he will make any moves?”

Farley said, “Everything is under our control, so what’s there to worry about? Our people have been watching them! ” Yvette’s heart turned cold.

Chapter 2173 It’s Almost Over

The car shook and screeched to a stop.

Yvette almost bumped into the seat in front of her.

In the next second, a small suitcase appeared on Yvette’s lap.

Yvette looked at Sean in shock. He was smiling faintly as he said, “ For this transaction, the other party asked you to go in person.

Otherwise, there’s no deal.”

Yvette’s expression changed dramatically as if she was holding burning coal. "I..."

Panic spread all over her body.

Sean smiled. His dry hands pinched her earlobe and squeezed her gently. This made Yvette motionless. She felt her hair stand on end.

“Don’t worry. Farley and I will protect you from behind. Look, we have so many people, so what’s there to be afraid of? I’ll teach you..."

His voice was gentle yet chilly.

Every word he said was dragging the pristine Yvette into his filthy hell.

Yvette felt that she was strangled by a poisonous snake, but she thought she could win over the snake.

Unexpectedly, Sean still tried to use her to his benefit.

From the beginning, the tenderness he showed her was an illusion. Sean blocking a bullet for her was probably an act too.

Sean could give Yvette to the old master and could make her go down this path of no return.

Yvette sat there stiffly as she listened to Farley’s advice.

“Ms. Quimbey, you’re the boss’s woman now. If you’re not one of us, our brothers won’t acknowledge you. Back then, Lex thought you were an outsider. As long as you deliver the goods yourself, you’ll be recognized by everyone in the future. Who will dare to disrespect you again? Everyone in the gang will listen to you! ”

Yvette was furious because of what he said.

“Who cares? I’m not like you people. You can do criminal activities, but why do you want to drag me into it? Why would I want your recognition?”

Sean’s face darkened. He took her hand to soothe her emotions.

“Yvette, it’s not that difficult. Don’t get agitated. It’ll be over in a few minutes. We don’t mean anything else. I won’t let you go, and you have to stay by my side, but I have to give my subordinates an explanation, right? Do you know why Tres’s woman is recognized by the gang?”

Yvette looked at him in shock and disbelief.

Sean smiled and answered her doubts.

“That’s because Tres asked her to kill someone.”

Yvette’s whole body turned cold, and she could feel herself trembling. That kind of fear was indescribable.

Sean touched her head and kissed the corner of her mouth affectionately.

“Be good. I won’t let you do that. This is just a delivery, and you won’t be in danger. I brought so many people to protect you! ”

Yvette’s tears fell uncontrollably. She really hated them.

She hated Sean so much for putting her in such a situation.

Yvette did not have to face all of this if he left her alone.

Her plan failed not because of her self-righteousness, but because of Sean’s selfishness.

She felt mentally tortured every second by his side and was so cautious that she felt like she was going crazy.

However, she did not dare to show the slightest contempt because she was waiting for a chance to fight back.

Now, she was at his mercy. She was a slave in captivity, and the door to freedom was shut in her face long ago.

Yvette wandered around with Sean, committed crimes with him, left her hometown, and endured it all just to get into today’s situation.

How ridiculous.

She clenched the handle of the suitcase with trembling fingers and pushed him away with one hand.

Then, she wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes.

She suppressed her fear and sobs and said in a hoarse voice, “Fine, I’ll go. Sean, if I die, you don’t have to avenge me. Just kill yourself.”

Sooner or later, Sean would get her killed. That was her intuition.

Yvette pushed the door open without hesitation and got out of the car.

Sean’s face froze for a moment.

Then, he pushed open the door and got out of the car.

Farley followed closely behind them.

The people in the back were already standing there, ready to fight.

They were at an abandoned factory that was in a remote and deserted area. Not far away was a garbage disposal plant that produced thick smoke.

When Yvette got out of the car, she had already regained her composure.

She glanced back and saw a dozen cars parked there.

The weather was extremely hot and dry.

Smoke and soil were everywhere. At this time, the fragrance of green grass was overpowered by the strong smell of chemicals from a distance.

Yvette stood there expressionlessly and looked at the door of the abandoned factory building. A few dilapidated cars were parked there.

Her eyes flickered, and her heart kept sinking.

Yvette did not know if praying to God would be helpful at this moment.

She knew that it might be too late if Nicole’s people came after the transaction was over.

Sean walked up to her, put a hand on her waist, and said softly, “ Let’s go. It’s just inside. Don’t be afraid. It’ll be over soon. When this is over, I’ll buy us a flight to Canada. Haven’t you been wanting to go on vacation?”

Yvette blinked. Her mind was completely blank, and she did not know how to respond to his words.

Sean hugged her and pushed her forward like she was a puppet.

He sighed and said, “I know you hate me now, but I can’t help it. I feel uneasy when you’re just too clean because I’m afraid that you’ll leave me at any time. If you become just like me, we can be together forever.”

Yvette walked forward silently and pretended not to hear him.

She did not expect much from him anymore.

If he had a conscience, he would not be this kind of person.

How could he be soft-hearted or have a conscience?

Yvette’s silence hurt Sean.

When they arrived at the entrance of the factory building, he took her hand and said seriously, “Yvette, did you hear what I said?”

He pinched her chin so that she had to look up at him.

Yvette’s eyes were indifferent, and her face was expressionless when she looked at him.

“Is there a difference whether I heard it or not? Will you even ask for my opinion?”

If Sean wanted to ask her for her opinion, she would rather they never meet on New Year’s Eve.

She would stay away from him.

Sean pursed his lips. His cold face stiffened for a moment.

He panicked for a moment when he saw Yvette’s calm face.

A strange emotion spread in his heart.

Unfortunately, he did not think too much about it.

Sean looked at the abandoned building in front of him that was surrounded by weeds. The two cars at the entrance seemed to be decoys.

He sighed and knew that now was not the time to argue with Yvette. He had no other choice.

Besides, Snakehead knew that Sean had a woman by his side and said his woman needed to do this transaction.

Snakehead’s purpose was to test Sean’s determination.

Everything would soon be over. 1

Chapter 2174 Many Dangers

Sean smiled, glanced at Farley, and walked in.

Farley nodded and followed behind with a vigilant look.

It was a completely different view in the abandoned factory building. There were many rooms without doors down the winding paths.

The place was empty, and nothing could be seen. As soon as Yvette entered the building, the strong smell of gasoline, dampness, and decaying matter flooded her nose.

She pinched her nose in disgust while Sean, who was next to her, pulled her up the stairs to the south staircase.

Yvette subconsciously broke away from him.

Sean thought she was throwing a tantrum, which was very much like her, so he did not take it to heart.

When they went upstairs, Sean did not let Yvette go ahead.

He walked in front, while Yvette walked in the middle, and Farley walked at the back.

It looked as if he was protecting her.

Yvette frowned but could not tell what was weird about this.

She looked at Farley with strange eyes.

Farley thought she was nervous, so he smiled and said, “Ms.

Quimbey, don’t be afraid. The boss won’t let you come if there’s any danger.”

Yvette’s voice was low, and she said casually, “I thought you were just a chef and didn’t expect that you were more important than Tate and the others to Sean.”

Otherwise, Sean would not have brought only Farley for this trade.

At the end of the day, Sean just did not have enough trust in other people.

Farley raised his eyebrows. “The less you know about this, the better. Tate and the others are too straightforward to keep their mouths shut.”

He just made an excuse, but Yvette still understood.

It was likely that Tate was transferred to another location.

If Tate carried out an arrest operation there, Sean would know that Tate was an undercover officer once the police arrived.

That way, Tate’s identity would be completely exposed.

She would not have a chance to leave then.

For a moment, Yvette’s mind was spinning fast. She was extremely nervous and felt cold.

Today would determine their plan’s success or failure.

Yvette touched her ear to ease her nervousness.

Once she got upstairs, she saw an ordinary man in casual clothes standing there.

He looked at them with a smile.

“Welcome, Mr. Moore.”

Sean smiled perfunctorily.

“Is Snakehead here?”

“Of course. Our boss values this cooperation, so he’ll definitely come in person.”

The man smiled politely and looked at Yvette, who was behind Sean.

“Is this your woman?”

Sean nodded. “Yvette, this is Snakehead’s subordinate.”

Yvette looked at him and nodded.

The man smiled and stretched out his hand.

“The boss is inside. This way, please.”

Sean nodded and walked forward.

Yvette followed. When she passed by that person, he smiled meaningfully as if he was looking at her ears.

Her heart beat faster, and she immediately lowered her head.

Soon, they turned a corner and saw Snakehead surrounded by his people.

Snakehead had a very big and triangular head. No wonder that was his nickname. It was really appropriate.

He watched as Sean and Yvette approached and greeted them nicely.

“Sean, welcome to our paradise! ”

Sean went over to give him a short hug.

“Thankyou for taking care of us, Snakehead. Since we’ve settled down here, we’ll have many opportunities to work together in the future.”

“Yes, yes! We’ll be a family in the future. Let’s make money together!”

Snakehead shrugged his shoulders and looked at Yvette, who was at the back. “Is this beauty your sweetheart?”

Sean smiled and pulled Yvette to the front.

“Yes, she’s my wife. We’ll meet you often.”

Snakehead nodded meaningfully.

“Okay, I’ve prepared the goods. Bro, the price you gave me showed your sincerity. In the future, we’ll contact you directly since we’re brothers now! ”

Sean replied, “Sure! I’ll definitely show you my sincerity on your first order, so this is not a big deal. Yvie, give him the suitcase.”

Yvette took a deep breath to suppress her nervousness and took a step forward. The person next to Snakehead took it over.

Snakehead said, “According to our rules, the goods must be inspected first. Mrs. Moore, come with us for the inspection.”

Yvette subconsciously looked at Sean.

Sean pondered for half a second before he nodded.

Yvette’s heart kept sinking.

She did not know how to describe the nausea and fear in her heart at this moment. Sean really would sacrifice anything for his own benefit.

It was calm without any movement outside.

Would her savior not come?

Tate was also in danger.

After this, Yvette might also get implicated.

It was also possible that she would never see hope again.

Yvette walked over dumbfoundedly and followed Snakehead’s subordinate. They went to a shabby table behind Snakehead and opened the suitcase that was filled with bags of powder.

Yvette was horrified.

She heard that a few grams could land one in prison for several years. This suitcase would be enough for her to spend her whole life in jail.

Yvette did not know if she could say that she was forced to do this when Sean was arrested in the future.

Tate was not around, so she did not even have a witness!

Yvette bit her lip and was just about to cry when the person next to her suddenly poured a bit of the powder out and licked it with his tongue.

The next second, the man stretched out his hand and grabbed her arm. A sharp voice rang in her ears, “Boss, there’s a problem with the goods! Let’s retreat!”

Yvette was startled. Before she could react, she was dragged back by someone. Seconds later, gunshots were fired.

She trembled in fright and bent down to hide. When she saw the person beside her protecting her, she suddenly realized something.

“Yvette—”

Sean’s voice roared outside.

“Snakehead, you played me!”

How could something go wrong with the goods he prepared?

Not unless this was just an excuse! Snakehead did not want to strike this deal with Sean at all.

In the blink of an eye, Yvette disappeared in the chaos.

Farley, who was behind Sean, quickly shot the other party. In an instant, the scene became chaotic.

Farley dragged Sean to hide against the wall next to them. Although they had a lot of people, it was still unknown how many people Snakehead brought.

This was Snakehead’s territory after all.

Sean wanted to get out, but Farley held Sean back.

“Boss, don’t go out there. They came prepared, so let’s call for backup.”

Sean did not care whether this cooperation was successful or not.

What he cared about was Yvette.

Yvette went missing.

This was enough to drive him crazy!

Without hesitation, Sean shot the gun in his hand in the direction where Yvette disappeared just now. At this time, Snakehead was hiding somewhere.

“Snakehead, give me back my woman! ”

Sean shouted hysterically, and his eyes were scarlet.

Snakehead did not move at all, but his men were hiding in the dark and kept shooting at Sean.

The battle between the two parties had already begun.

Logically, the people they hired who were standing guard outside should have come up long ago.

Thus, Farley stood up in surprise and looked out.

Suddenly, his body shuddered.

Chapter 2175 You Lost

The mercenaries that Sean hired had been surrounded.

Not only that, the mercenaries were also disarmed.

The people who surrounded them were all wearing police uniforms.

There were Medianian and foreign police officers.

Farley’s face instantly turned pale.

They could no longer retreat, which showed that this transaction was a trap. Farley pulled Sean.

“Boss, run! The police have surrounded this place. If we drag this on, we won’t end up well.”

Sean also saw the situation outside at this time, and his face turned pale. His expression was gloomy, and he turned cold.

His eyes were dark and indifferent.

They were clearly surrounded, but Sean did not know if Snakehead was in on it.

It was frightening to think that a smuggler would cooperate with the police. Heh. Sean suddenly realized that he was actually afraid.

Soon after, Farley stood in front of Sean with a cold expression.

“Boss, you run first!”

Sean slowly raised his gloomy and stern eyes as he looked at the person who reappeared - Snakehead.

Snakehead still had a smile on his face, but he looked a little regretful.

“Bro, don’t blame me for being cruel. That’s only because you offended someone you shouldn’t have offended?”

Sean said in a cold tone, “Who is it?”

Snakehead smiled. “The old master made a deal with me. As long as I cooperate with the police this time, I’ll get some special treatment from the police, and more importantly, the old master will give me all of the production bases you have now unconditionally!”

He smiled meaningfully.

“I can get a steady supply of goods without spending a penny, so why would I cooperate with you? You know, I’ve been dreaming of getting that place. Bro, instead of letting you have it, I’d rather take it myself. The old master always treated you well, so you should go back and admit your mistake! ”

Farley looked vicious as he said, “How could you cooperate with the police when you’re in this business? You betrayed your brothers and colluded with the police. Won’t everyone despise you?”

Snakehead raised his head and laughed as he pointed at them. 1

“How long have you guys been in this business? I’ve been in this position for so long, so I’ll just kill anyone who dares to spite me.

Isn’t that easy?”

He looked nonchalant as he looked at Sean with a smile.

“But bro, I pity you. You’re quite capable, but you’re too ambitious.”

Snakehead turned his head and walked away.

Sean’s tone was cold.

“The old master can kill me, but what about Yvette? Let her go! She has nothing to do with this.”

Snakehead paused and looked at her meaningfully.

“Sean, can’t you see? The old master’s motive is for me to take Ms. Quimbey back. Also, can’t you tell from this unprecedented joint operation between the police and drug dealers? Even without me, those people outside won’t let you go. You must know that our transaction time and place are kept secret, and I didn’t tell anyone.”

Sean’s pupils shrank, and his expression turned cold instantly.

His heart clenched tightly like a hand was squeezing it until it was deformed.

Once he had that idea, it took root and spread uncontrollably. He did not know who to suspect.

How was it possible?

Yvette had always been under his surveillance, and she had no chance to contact the outside world.

Unless... There was a spy in the villa who colluded with her.

However, that was unlikely because Yvette did not know the details

of this transaction. She was taking a nap before she got into the car, so how was it possible?

All the clues came rushing into his mind. He felt overwhelmed as he could not sort out his thoughts.

It could not be her.

The pain in his chest made him feel like he was going to explode.

Sean took a deep breath with a pale face.

“So, that’s why you deliberately arranged two trading spots — one openly and the other discreetly — just so that I can come in person?”

Snakehead replied, “Well, that’s just for caution. Things could go wrong in a trade, so it’s normal to divert your people in another direction.”

Sean was about to speak with a cold attitude when Farley quickly dragged him to the long corridor behind the pillars.

“Come on, our helicopter is here.”

Sean ran forward without saying a word.

He realized that this was a trap.

Thus, he wanted to escape first and come back to settle the score with Snakehead later.

But Yvette...

Sean could not figure out why the old master would try every means and even sacrifice so much just for Yvette.

The two strong men climbed up from the back window.

This remote location had not been discovered yet.

The helicopter was already rumbling in their direction.

The police were a little stunned to see this. They quickly deployed a portion of their personnel to barge into the factory.

Time was running out. Sean and Farley watched as the helicopter approached them with undisguised joy on their faces.

“Boss, let’s go...”

Farley pulled Sean in the direction where the helicopter planned to land.

Suddenly, a cluster of footsteps came from the stairs.

Immediately afterward, someone opened the door. A group of police officers ran over from the entrance, carrying guns and aiming at them.

Farley cursed and said, “The old master is so capable and merciless when he cooperates with the police.”

Sean’s face was cold as he pointed his gun at those people.

There was nowhere he could escape.

He knew his situation. If he was arrested, he would be sentenced to death, and he would disappear from this world.

That way, his struggle, hardships, and burden would be worth nothing.

Sean had worked so hard for a long time and risked his life repeatedly for all that he had today.

His eyes were sharp and cold like a falcon. He insisted on not letting go.

The helicopter slowly descended.

One hundred meters... Eighty meters...

A police officer shouted to break Sean’s psychological defenses.

“Sean, raise your hands and surrender now! You can still get a lenient punishment! ”

Sean’s eyes were red, cold, and sinister.

“Surrender? I never thought of surrendering...”

He would never surrender even if it meant dying.

Farley was at the side trying to protect Sean.

The rope dropped from the helicopter, and the police started to shoot at the helicopter. Bullets and sparks were flying around but none penetrated the body.

Someone ran out from the entrance. Yvette watched this scene and walked out from behind.

“The helicopter is bulletproof, so it won’t be hit! ”

Her tone was extremely cold.

When Sean and Farley saw her, they were shocked.

“Yvette...”

“Ms. Quimbey, come here quickly!”

Farley had a plan in mind when he saw her.

As soon as she came over, he would take her hostage. That way, they could escape.

Yvette stood there. The corners of her mouth twitched as she looked at Sean indifferently.

The man who tried to drag her into hell had nowhere to run.

Yvette could not describe the feeling in her heart.

She was relieved, happy, emotional, and a little hurt.

She also felt uncomfortable.

At this time, she smiled brightly.

“Sean, you lost! You can’t escape, so you have no choice but to surrender.” 1

Chapter 2176 He Died Here

Sean stared at Yvette intensely. His eyes were red and restrained as he said gently yet seriously, “Yvette, I know it isn’t you. This has nothing to do with you. Wait for me...”

He wanted her to wait for him to come back for her!

The rope was behind Sean, and he could pull it if he stretched out his hand.

However, the police officers would certainly fire at him.

It was risky, but this was his only chance at survival.

The moment he moved, Yvette held something in her hand and roared, “Sean, I told you that you’d die in my hands!”

Sean was shocked when he saw her aiming a gun at him.

For a while, the air was cold.

Farley’s expression changed in shock. He twitched the corners of his mouth, and shouted, “Boss, go now!”

Sean felt as if his heart was gradually cracking and shattering to pieces. Yvette told him this before, but he never took it to heart.

That was because he thought it was just a moment of anger.

Yvette had said many harsh things before.

Sean could not hear anything and only saw her in his tunnel vision.

There was a cold smile on his face as he said, “Yvette, you won’t shoot me.”

He looked at her confidently.

Sean knew Yvette hated him, but she would not dare to shoot him.

That was because she still had feelings for him.

During their time together, Sean could feel that Yvette was gradually accepting him and that she was no longer resisting his approach. She would not ignore his wounds either.

They were so in love once, and he knew what it was like when she loved someone. That was why he was so sure that she had fallen in love with him.

“Bang—”

A gunshot cut through the tense silence.

It also completely shattered Sean’s heart.

Sean looked at her in shock as he quickly stepped forward to hold Farley, who was about to fall to the ground.

Farley was shot in the chest.

Yvette fired the gun, but the bullet that was supposed to hit Sean was blocked by Farley.

She actually dared to shoot him!

Farley grabbed Sean firmly.

“Go! Go now!”

Sean looked at her with a cold and sinister expression. There was an irretrievable silence.

Feelings?

How ridiculous! Was she reluctant? Or did she not dare to kill him?

Yvette wanted to kill Sean a long time ago.

A police officer next to Yvette came up and said something, trying to take the gun from Yvette’s hand. However, she refused.

She wanted to avenge herself, and her eyes were bloodshot.

Yvette laughed, but then she started to cry. However, she could not conceal her excitement.

“Go to hell, Sean! You can’t run away! Do you know how the police came here? I have a positioning device on me. If I don’t turn it on, no one will ever find out. I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for the longest time! Do you feel guilty for dragging me into your hellhole? There’s no need for that. I wanted to come here and witness your crimes and failure with my own eyes!”

She pulled the trigger again without hesitation.

However, the pistol jammed, and she could not press the trigger.

This gun was stolen from Snakehead’s subordinate.

Yvette used to go shooting with Ian, Nicole, and the others back then, so she knew a little about guns.

However, Yvette was not familiar with various types of guns, and she did not know much about this model.

The officer next to her stopped her, but Yvette refused to give up and stared at Sean.

It seemed as if she would not be reconciled if she did not kill him with her own hands.

Sean looked a little mad as he sneered.

“So, you were just acting all this time! You were just pretending to like me, huh? Yvette, I was wrong about you...”

His words traveled to her ears.

Yvette said, “You weren’t just wrong about me, but also about the people closest to you! ”

As soon as she said that, Sean’s expression changed slightly.

However, she did not continue.

Tate’s identity could not be revealed yet.

There was no one else around Sean, so what if he guessed it?

Sean was trapped.

“Sean, surrender now! You can’t escape!”

The officer on the side shouted.

Sean glanced at Yvette indifferently, and with lightning speed, he quickly raised the gun in his hand and pointed at Yvette.

He pulled the trigger without hesitation.

Yvette screamed in shock while the officer next to her pounced at her.

In the next second, she felt a bullet fly by her ear.

He missed.

However, Sean was already standing on the rope ladder.

The helicopter roared in the sky, but the gun in Sean’s hand suddenly ran out of bullets.

Naturally, the police would not miss such a good opportunity.

They opened fire at Sean, and countless bullets pierced through the humid air.

It was so loud that Yvette felt like her eardrums would explode.

The police aimed at Sean and shot him.

“Bang bang bang----- ”

Yvette stood there in shock and watched helplessly as a man covered in blood fell from the helicopter.

The police shot him in the arms and lower abdomen, which were covered in blood.

Sean could not hold on any longer and let go of the rope, then he fell from above.

More than a hundred meters down was the stormy sea, where he was buried.

The helicopter disappeared higher into the sky.

Yvette stood there with a pale face and felt her legs go limp.

She exhaled slowly, not knowing whether to relax or feel sad.

The sea washed over everything.

Maybe it was a good thing that she did not see his body.

Yvette did not want to show a hint of sadness to bid farewell to this ridiculous experience.

She squatted on the ground and looked at the sea in the distance with tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.

It was finally over.

Sean finally disappeared from her life.

Why was she so indifferent when Sean blocked a shot for her and was so attentive to her?

He would never hear the answer.

It had been months since New Year’s Eve.

Yvette seemed to have used up all the good luck in her life during this time.

The police went to salvage Sean’s body, and some people went to chase the helicopter.

Someone dealt with Farley’s body, and someone stood in front of Yvette.

Yvette raised her head slowly and saw Tate’s somewhat pitiful gaze.

Tate stood upright and looked at her. He pursed his lips and said, “ Ms. Quimbey, you’ve done well. You’re free now.”

Yvette’s tears overflowed from her eyes uncontrollably.

She trembled all over and wanted to cry because she was frightened and sad.

She was finally free, but she paid a high price for it.

The police officer came over to comfort her, but Tate stopped him.

“Leave it to me. We’ll go back to Mediania together after

everything is settled.”

Another police officer seemed to know Tate from a long time ago. He grinned excitedly and said, “You little punk! It’s finally time for you to come back after so many years. Your position is still reserved for you. I think you’ll get your own office now that you’ve made such a huge contribution. Let’s catch up later! ”

Tate nodded with a smile.

Everyone went about their way.

It seemed that they deliberately tried to ignore Yvette.

After Yvette had a good cry, her voice became hoarse. Tate handed her a bottle of water and sighed.

“You should go back. Mr. Sheldon received the best treatment abroad. If my intel is right, the day we arrive in Mediania happens to be the same day as Mr. Sheldon’s. Just treat this as a nightmare and forget about all that happened.” 1

Chapter 2177 Who Is It?

Yvette held the bottle of water and stood up slowly.

She looked at the waves in the distance, blinked, and looked away.

Sean had led a thrilling life, which brought him to his death.

Yvette did not see Snakehead or his subordinates walking out of the factory, so she figured that they must have left.

Everything was over.

Yvette would never come to this place again.

After getting in the car, Tate handed Yvette his phone.

“You can call your relatives and tell them that you’re safe now.”

Yvette blinked. The complicated emotions in her heart surged.

Life had to go on. Yvette went through so many dangers and trials, so she had to live a good life from now on.

Yvette took the phone and called her mother.

Soon, Mrs. Quimbey answered with a hoarse and tired voice, “Who is it?”

“Mom, it’s me.”

“Yvie? Is it really you?! I’m about to die of anxiety. Are you alright?”

Mrs. Quimbey was choking up, so it was evident how anxious she was.

Yvette relaxed her voice and replied, “Yeah, I’m fine. I’ll be back soon. I’m sorry for making you worry, Mom! ”

“Silly girl. All that matters is that you’re okay! ”

Mrs. Quimbey burst into tears and cried until she was out of breath.

Yvette felt that she could not control her emotions, so she hung up the phone after saying a few words.

She gave the phone back to Tate and looked at him.

“Did you know about today’s plan?”

Tate pursed his lips and shook his head.

“Sean seems to trust me very much, but he’s very cautious. He asked me to contact Snakehead but also reached out to Snakehead privately to guard against me. I only found out that it was his plan after I arrived at the trading place and didn’t see anyone there.

This is all thanks to you for notifying the police in time. As far as I know, Snakehead wouldn’t have helped or worked with the police so easily. I think that someone reached out to him first.”

Yvette pursed her lips. “It’s the old master. I heard him tell Sean about it.”

Tate looked at her with an unchanged expression.

“It’s not just the old master. Whoever gave you the earrings got your message as soon as you called for help. She coordinated the interests of all parties and weighed the pros and cons in the shortest time possible. This was something that had never been done before. You have to thank her properly. If Snakehead didn’t show up, the police wouldn’t have reached this far. That was why the police would not pursue Snakehead any further for now.

However, we won’t let the old master get away with it. I don’t know what’s the relationship between you and the old master, but from now on, you don’t have anything to do with this case. Once you get back, don’t get involved in anything.”

Yvette lowered her eyes and hooked the corners of her lips.

“I never thought of getting involved in anything, and I won’t cover up for them.”

Tate paused. “I know that you’re not that kind of person.”

After a while, a police officer outside ran over. Under the sunlight, their smiles were bright, upright, clean, and pure.

Yvette had not seen such a person for a long time.

The police officer who knew Tate looked at them with a smile, took out a pack of biscuits from his pocket, and handed it to Yvette.

“Are you hungry? We’re now going to search Sean’s villa. Should we send you back first?”

Yvette held the bag of biscuits and felt her eyes getting a little sore.

Tate looked at Yvette.

“We won’t go to the villa. You guys should be careful.”

Yvette paused. “I wonder if Farley is dead...”

Her voice was very low, and she pursed her lips. She did not know if she would have to bear the consequences.

After all, the person she intended to kill was Sean.

Tate said calmly, “This is all over. Don’t worry. They’re all drug dealers who have committed capital crimes and have killed countless people. You were just acting in self-defense, so the law will give you justice.”

Yvette nodded.

She did not want to think about anything now.

All she wanted was to sleep well.

Tate took her back to the hotel and put her in the care of a female police officer.

Then, he went to work on this case.

Yvette borrowed a phone and made an international call.

“Yvette?”

“Nicole, it’s me.”

Yvette’s voice was a little hoarse, but she still sounded calm.

“Thank you, Nicole. Help me to thank Clayton too. It’s thanks to you two that I escaped death this time.”

Nicole paused. “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine. Do you have a clue as to what I asked you to check for me before?”

Who was the old master’s backer who interceded for her?

Nicole paused. After a moment of silence, she said in a deep voice, “ Yes.”

“Who is it?”

Yvette’s voice involuntarily became tense.

She did not know why she still could not let go of this matter even when she had already escaped from hell.

Why did the old master sacrifice so much for her?

Was it just because of his backer?

What kind of relationship did the old master have with his backer to make him so obedient?

The doubt in Yvette’s heart was getting stronger, and she could not wait to know the answer.

“It’s your mother.”

Nicole said with difficulty.

She could feel Yvette’s shock.

Nicole quickly added, “But don’t worry. Aunt Quimbey’s business is clean, and she’s pristine. It’s just that Clayton’s subordinates noticed that your mother has met and contacted the old master in private many times. It must be because of you.”

Nicole had suspected that it was Eric Ferguson, but it did not make sense for him to go through so much trouble for Yvette. Eric was never the kind to do money-losing business.

As for the Stanton family, they had nothing to do with the old man.

Thus, Nicole asked Clayton to send someone to squat around the nightclub where the old master frequented. That was when he saw a familiar face — Mrs. Quimbey.

Nicole did not know why Mrs. Quimbey had contact with the old master.

Yvette’s face gradually lost its color. She sat quietly on the bed with the phone in her hand and looked at the sky outside the window.

The air was humid and sticky, which made her feel suffocated.

Yvette seemed to be out of breath.

Nicole called out to her a few times.

“Yvette, when are you coming back? Shall I send someone to pick you up?”

Yvette regained her senses.

“There’s no rush. I still have to cooperate with the police investigation here, so I’ll just go home with them. Don’t worry. Sean is dead, so nothing will happen again.”

Nicole breathed a sigh of relief.

“Okay. Tell me if you need my help! ”

Yvette responded and reluctantly twitched the corners of her lips.

“Help me to thank Clayton. I bought a gift for Chatty, so I’ll post it back first. Remember to give it to her! ”

Nicole laughed.

“Okay. You should pay more attention to yourself. Chatty has so many gifts that we almost ran out of space to store them!”

Yvette said a few words to her in a relaxed tone before hanging up the phone.

She looked calm, but her eyes were empty as she stared into the distance.

Yvette did not want to ask her mother why she had contact with the old master because her mother would not answer even if she asked.

Nicole hung up the phone and fell into deep thought. She was concerned and worried.

Clayton came out with a fruit platter and called out to Nicole a few times before she heard him.

He smiled. “What are you thinking about that got you so distracted?”

“Yvette just called. Sean is dead, and she’ll be back soon.”

Clayton raised his eyebrows and was not at all surprised by this news.

“Isn’t this a good thing? You won’t have to worry about her so much that you lose sleep again.”

Nicole pursed her lips and walked over with deep eyes.

“I just feel like something is wrong. How could Aunt Quimbey have contact with the old master?”

Chapter 2178 Someone Will Pick Me Up

Clayton smiled inexplicably.

“You’ll know when Yvette returns to Medianía. She’s strong enough to face the facts and accept whatever’s to come.”

Nicole sighed.

“My baby Yvette has suffered so much. I hope she can return to her usual self soon.”

Clayton pursed his lips and smiled.

“Mm. You’re right.”

Southeast Asia.

Half a month passed.

Tate followed the police to investigate the case and was wrapping up his work.

None of Sean’s subordinates were left behind, and they were all arrested.

Yvette was accompanied by one female police officer from day to night.

She did not know if the officer was there to take care of her or to monitor her.

However, she did not care.

Tate knocked on the door while he carried a fruit basket. The female officer opened the door.

Tate nodded and said, “Can I have a few words with Ms. Quimbey?”

The female officer nodded and left the room.

Tate went in and looked at Yvette, who was sitting on the sofa drinking red wine and watching TV. She looked so relaxed and did not look like a victim at all.

She could live a lavish and carefree life anytime, anywhere.

However, her expression was less cautious compared to when she was around Sean.

Yvette finally did not have to live in fear.

At first, Tate was worried that Yvette would expose him if she knew of his identity. After all, Yvette did not seem like someone who could keep a secret.

However, he now felt that Yvette was just being protected too well before.

She was stupid, but also clean and innocent.

“Ms. Quimbey, how are you doing these days?”

Tate walked in.

Yvette smiled, raised her eyebrows, and looked a little tipsy.

“I’m fine, Tate... Officer Tate...”

Tate walked to the opposite side and sat down. He looked exhausted.

“The work here will be over soon, and we’ll be returning to Mediania tomorrow afternoon. I came to tell you in advance so that you’ll be mentally prepared.”

Yvette’s eyes flickered slightly. Even though she was very calm, she still looked hopeful and surprised.

“Thank you.”

Tate paused for a few seconds before he said, “Farley isn’t dead. He was sent back to Mediania first, and his sentence will be pronounced when he recovers.”

Yvette slowly breathed a sigh of relief. She felt less guilty that Farley did not die.

Until today, Yvette regretted shooting him impulsively that day.

Although Farley was guilty, he should not be punished by her.

Farley had always been working in the kitchen, and he was nice to her. He even persuaded her to treat Sean better.

Yvette was shocked when she watched Farley collapse in front of her.

The complex and subtle emotions in her heart surged.

“I don’t understand. Why did Sean trust Farley so much?”

Yvette looked at Tate.

Sean never let Farley participate in important discussions normally, but he only brought Farley with him at a critical time.

The corners of Tate’s lips twitched. “Farley helped Sean get sober when the old master forced Sean to take drugs. Farley also brought Sean back when Sean delivered the goods for the first time. Farley was Sean’s true benefactor, not the old master.”

Yvette was surprised. No wonder.

They got along so well and naturally, but Yvette did not think they had such a background story.

She scratched her hair and looked at Tate.

“Officer Tate, why do you look unhappy?”

Tate smiled, looking a bit lonely.

“I’m not upset. In order to wipe out this criminal group, countless undercover officers like me have died, so I should be happy that I’m still alive.”

Yvette paused. She suddenly thought of a question and looked at Tate seriously.

“No, wait. Sean isn’t the leader of this criminal group. The old master is their real leader. If your identity is exposed here, can you still go back? Won’t they take revenge on you?”

Tate lowered his eyes and smiled. He took a deep look at her.

“No. Although my identity has been exposed, I’ll be transferred soon. The transfer order is confidential, so I won’t be on the plane with you tomorrow. Ms. Quimbey, please take care of yourself when you get back.”

Yvette nodded. She had a feeling that Tate knew some secret that he could not tell her about.

Even if she asked him, he would not tell her.

Tate did not stay for long and got up to leave.

Yvette got up to pack her things, but there was nothing to pack.

She looked at the unopened new phone on the table beside her and paused.

It was given to her by the female officer.

Yvette did not use it or open the packaging.

For some reason, she did not feel like contacting anyone.

After tossing and turning all night, Yvette could not sleep well and had several bizarre dreams that overwhelmed her.

She dreamed about her mother and the old master.

In her dreams, Sean viciously strangled her neck and said that he wanted to take revenge on her. She was so frightened that she was drenched in a cold sweat.

Yvette suddenly opened her eyes, sat up, and looked at the dark sky.

The wind outside was cool, and it blew into the room, so she went over to close the window.

The next day, the police officer came over and put the flight ticket on the table. She looked at Yvette with a smile.

“Ms. Quimbey, are you excited that you’ll be home soon?”

Yvette nodded and said with a smile, “Yes. Thank you for taking care of me.”

“It’s my duty.”

Yvette had nothing to pack, and the gift she bought for Chatty earlier had already been mailed.

She followed the officer and a few others onto the plane. Everyone

was in plain clothes, so it was hard to tell what they were doing.

Sure enough, Tate did not follow them.

However, Yvette still remembered what Tate said to her before.

Lance would arrive at the airport at the same time as her.

Thus, Yvette could see Lance right away.

‘Lance...’ Yvette smiled when she thought of him. She unconsciously felt a burst of warmth in her heart.

He was the warmest existence in her world.

They must go back to how they were before and live happily ever after.

Yvette looked out the plane window and saw everything getting smaller and smaller.

She could finally stop compromising with Sean.

Yvette had been downcast for a few days, and she finally regained her spirits.

During the three-hour flight, Yvette did not feel sleepy at all.

She was imagining how happy she would be after seeing Lance. He should have recovered by now.

Yvette wanted to pounce on him for a warm bear hug, and he would helplessly wrap his arms around her hair and tell her not to make trouble.

Her tears fell unconsciously as she thought about him.

Yvette also had another important thing to tell him. She needed to apologize to him properly.

She took a piece of paper and scribbled on it.

When she came to her senses, she saw Lance’s name written all over the paper.

She was delighted and could not help but quicken her pace when she got off the plane.

Seeing this, the police officer next to her laughed and teased her.

“Ms. Quimbey, you must be very homesick! Have you notified your family to pick you up?”

Yvette did not inform her mother or anyone else because Tate told her that Lance would come back.

She just wanted to meet him first.

Yvette smiled. “Someone will come to pick me up. I’ll get going first.”

The police officer waved to her.

Yvette’s excited steps eased a little.

Chapter 2179 Illegitimate Daughter

Yvette walked through the long corridor. As soon as she got out, she saw Lance sitting in a wheelchair in the crowd, looking weak.

His high nose bridge and profound features made him stand out. Lance was thinner, so the clothes he wore in the past were a little loose.

Yvette’s eyes felt sore and moist.

Those long-suppressed grievances and longing seemed to have found an outlet. She had the urge to rush over to him.

Her husband was right there, and she would be with him for the restof her life.

Yvette smiled and walked into the crowd when someone suddenly grabbed her arm.

People were coming and going in the crowd. Most of them were picking up friends and relatives at the airport.

Yvette did not see who grabbed her, but when she went forward again, she was pulled back. She subconsciously looked to the right and saw a familiar person.

For a moment, the blood on her face drained, and her pupils instantly shrank.

“Farley...”

Farley stretched out his finger and made a hush gesture.

Then, he dragged her in the opposite direction with gloomy eyes.

Yvette glanced back.

Lance seemed to have seen her. He was surprised and wanted to stand up, but he could not. Instead, his body swayed, and he fell to the ground.

Yvette’s heart sank. She wanted to break free, but Farley held her firmly.

“Yvette, if you don’t want me to kill him in public, you’d better behave!”

Farley threatened in a cold tone.

Yvette’s eyes darkened as she looked at him in a panic.

“You...”

She took a closer look, only to see that Farley was wearing a hospital gown inside his coat. He sneaked out of the hospital.

Before she could regain her composure, Farley impatiently took her arm with one hand and strangled her neck with the other.

He looked completely different from the nice chef that he was in her impression.

Farley no longer talked to her like he was an elder.

He indifferently stretched out his hand. He could break her neck if he exerted some force.

She panicked completely, and an inexplicable chill enveloped her.

“What are you doing? This is the airport!”

The police were nearby.

Right. As long as she shouted for help, someone would definitely notice.

Farley pulled her to the corner and threw her aside.

“Yvette, I wanted to kill you.”

He said through gritted teeth.

Yvette looked at him with sore eyes and felt flustered.

The corner of her mouth twitched.

“Farley, do you hate me for shooting you?”

Farley’s eyes trembled.

“You intended to kill Sean with that shot! Why are you so cruel?! ”

Yvette’s eyes were blurred by tears.

“He ruined me and my life! Why can’t I hate him?”

She said with a hoarse voice.

For so many years, the things she desperately wanted to forget came back again at this moment.

Farley’s face was ferocious, and he hesitated to speak.

He looked at the people around him hastily and warily for fear that someone would notice him.

Yvette saw that something was bulging around his waist and felt a chill in her heart.

“What do you want to do?”

Farley gritted his teeth. “I won’t kill you. Sean said before that no matter what happens in the future and no matter what the situation is, we’re not allowed to touch you. But I want to kill Tate, that traitor! We trusted him, but he turned out to be an undercover agent!”

Yvette panicked for a moment.

“Tate didn’t come back.”

“Bullsh*t! He completed his mission and is just waiting to be rewarded for his contribution. How could he not come back? I’ll naturally find a way to lure him out later, so you can just stay here and watch. Yvette, I’m only letting you go this time because of Sean!”

Farley said fiercely as he glared at her.

“If you would’ve told us earlier about your relationship with the old master, Sean wouldn’t need to go through such a roundabout way. You deserve what you get today! ”

Yvette raised her head in an instant and looked puzzled.

“What relationship? What are you talking about?”

Farley thought Yvette was still putting on a show.

His chest heaved in anger.

“Why are you still pretending now? I heard in the hospital that you’re the old master’s illegitimate daughter. No wonder he spent so much effort to get someone to rescue you even if it meant sacrificing so much. He would rather surrender to the police to

make sure Sean meets his end. Fine. We’ve underestimated you. If Sean was alive, he would’ve killed you! ”

Farley’s words lingered in Yvette’s ears.

Yvette was shocked, motionless, and dumbfounded.

Her face was pale and dreary at this moment because she did not know how to react.

The doubts in her heart suddenly burst open. She did not think about that possibility at all.

The truth was like a bolt from the blue. It was even more dramatic than being abducted by Sean.

Her head hurt like it was being torn apart.

The police knew about this.

In order to save Yvette, the old master cooperated with the police and turned himself in.

Nicole told her that the person who contacted the old master was Mrs. Quimbey.

It was Mrs. Quimbey, the single mother who raised Yvette singlehandedly.

Mrs. Quimbey was very strict with Yvette, but she also pampered Yvette.

Yvette got what she wanted since childhood.

She heard that her father died in a car accident soon after her mother married her father.

Her mother did not remarry, gave birth, and raised Yvette by herself.

She never questioned her mother’s words.

In the past, Mrs. Quimbey was vigorous and resolute. She would never allow imperfection or get involved in shady business, and she would keep to her word in business.

Yvette vaguely remembered the time when her mother worked day and night during those difficult times, so much so that her mother did not have time to accompany her. Her mother suffered so much, but she never gave up.

Farley hid in the corner and cautiously surveyed the situation outside.

“Yvette...”

Lance’s voice was getting closer.

Yvette suddenly regained her senses.

She raised her head and wanted to go out, but the gun in Farley’s hand was faster than her.

She bit her lip. “Let me go! Tate isn’t here! ”

Farley did not believe her. Instead, he had a new idea when he saw Lance gradually approaching.

He smiled coldly and said, “He came to me, so you can’t blame me. Since he dares to snatch the boss’s woman, I’ll show him the consequences.”

Yvette was shocked.

“What do you want to do?”

That idea frightened her.

Farley smiled.

“The boss will be so uncomfortable in heaven, watching you and this man live together. So, I should just send this man to hell. That way, the boss will feel better...”

Farley glanced at Yvette sinisterly, then he slowly raised the gun in his hand as if he had made some kind of decision.

Yvette was shocked. She could not care less about anything, and her mind went blank.

Somehow, she got the strength to stand up from the ground and pushed him out from behind.

She roared, “Help! There’s a fugitive here with a gun! ”

Her voice was sharp, and she was frantic.

In an instant, the place became noisy and chaotic.

Yvette looked at Lance worriedly, and her voice stopped abruptly.

Chapter 2180 I’m Your Father

At that moment, Lance and Yvette’s eyes met, and the surroundings fell silent.

There were all kinds of people all around, but they did not seem real.

Yvette did not hear the buzzing in her ear.

She just felt happy to see such a lively Lance.

She was elated.

The scene that she fantasized about on the plane might really come true.

Yvette always felt that she had lived an exciting life.

However, at this moment, she felt that she had never really settled down since she got married.

Yvette and Lance started from trying to date each other to actually liking each other.

To this day, Yvette knew that she did not just like Lance, she really loved him wholeheartedly.

Something in her chest wanted to burst out and tell him how she felt out loud, but when she opened her mouth, she could only feel a sharp pain coming from her heart.

Yvette expected this.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw that Farley had regained his footing, pushed away the people blocking him, and approached them.

Yvette was less than thirty meters from Lance, but it was impossible to reach him in a few seconds.

The moment Farley raised his gun.

Yvette suddenly got the courage to turn back. She blocked the direction where he shot and went up to him.

“Bang—”

Everyone was shocked.

The arrival hall suddenly became chaotic with people screaming, shoving each other, and running away.

Many people fled the scene and blocked Farley’s sight, so he did not have the chance to fire the second shot.

The police officers who had not walked out of the terminal turned back in. Together with the airport security, they pressed Farley down.

The woman lay there quietly with her eyes open and sighed. She looked at the bright lights on the ceiling as her pumping heart slowly calmed down.

Lance hurried over with the help of others. He carefully covered her chest because he did not want the blood to drain from her body.

Yvette was so afraid of pain. Usually, she would cry and make a fuss even when she had a small bump.

Why did she block that shot for him just now?

Lance’s voice trembled. He was afraid that she would leave him.

“Yvie, don’t scare me... The doctor will be here soon, so hang on! ”

He held her, and his tears fell on her face.

Yvette blinked and closed her eyes.

She really wanted to speak, and she thought she would still have time to say something.

Was that not how it was played out on TV? Those characters usually had time to say a lot of things before they died, right?

Why did she not get this chance when it was her turn?

What a pity.

Yvette had not hugged Lance yet or told him about the future she envisioned for them on the plane.

Forget it. There was no point in saying it now.

She did not have many sensational opportunities.

Lance shouted her name in a hoarse voice. 1

“Yvette—”

He was hysterical, and time seemed to be frozen at this moment.

Before this, Lance and Yvette thought that they would have a long life together.

However, this was their last glance at each other.

Yvette was dead.

She died before the ambulance arrived.

Mrs. Quimbey cried so much that she fainted outside the ward.

Lance held Yvette’s hand and refused to let go for a long time. He was in a daze, and his eyes were scarlet, gloomy, and cold.

When Nicole got the news and arrived with Clayton, Mrs. Quimbey had already been sent to the emergency room.

Her legs went limp when she saw the lifeless person on the hospital bed.

Clayton supported her from behind.

Her best friend died. They were just talking and laughing before this. Nicole felt devastated.

Lance was dejected and thin, and there was no more light in his eyes.

Fiona was also depressed. She felt sorry for both Lance and Yvette.

She did not know how to comfort Lance, so she could only go and check on Mrs. Quimbey.

Nicole cried so much that she fainted, so Clayton brought her home.

She had narrowly escaped death many times, so she thought that Yvette would also be as lucky as she was.

However, Nicole forgot that she had exhausted all her luck to survive.

Yvette was not as lucky.

Clayton sacrificed his business to save Yvette at a critical moment because of Nicole.

He transferred his most profitable business in Southeast Asia to Snakehead.

As far as Snakehead was concerned, he worked with the police, got benefits from the old master, and got Clayton’s business. He killed three birds with one stone and made a profit.

It was just a pity that Yvette died at the airport in Atlanta.

Yvette’s death was a big blow to everyone.

She was so lively and vibrant. She loved to laugh and have fun. It was a pity that she left without leaving anything behind.

Lance stayed with Yvette for three days without moving, eating, or drinking.

In the end, Mrs. Quimbey had to stand out and prepare for Yvette’s cremation.

Mrs. Quimbey seemed to age twenty years all of a sudden. She did not cover the white hair on her head or the wrinkles on her face.

Fiona, Yvette’s mother-in-law, was busy arranging the funeral because she did not know how to console Mrs. Quimbey and Lance.

On the day of Yvette’s cremation, everyone was there.

Nicole, Ian, Julie, Kai, and Grant...

Yvette’s old friends from the past, the people she liked and disliked attended Yvette’s funeral.

Lance watched silently as Yvette was pushed into the burner. His expression was grim, and he could not keep his composure.

He had a mental breakdown from this torment.

Only this time, he did not wail or go hysterical.

Mrs. Quimbey, Fiona, and the others watched quietly.

They then went to the designated grave and watched her get buried.

They chose a photo that Yvette liked when she was alive. She smiled brightly with vivid eyes.

Yvette should have lived her life like this.

Nicole stood therewith red and swollen eyes. She looked haggard.

The others were not much better than her.

In the end, everyone left one after another. The whole funeral process was quiet.

Nicole and Julie stayed behind with Lance and Mrs. Quimbey.

The sky darkened, and it began to drizzle.

Not long after, a few people walked over slowly from a distance.

Three of them were in police uniforms, and they brought an old man with them.

The old man looked haggard and did not look as shrewd and capable as before.

He slowly hobbled forward to Yvette’s grave.

At that moment, he could not stand up any longer.

The police officer pursed his lips and went over to explain to them.

“His last condition before he confesses is to visit Ms. Quimbey. We hope that you’ll agree to it.”

Mrs. Quimbey nodded expressionlessly.

Nicole and Julie walked to the side to give them some privacy.

Julie sighed.

“Yvette used to say that she didn’t miss her father, but we know that she does. I wonder if she knows that her father isn’t dead...”

Nicole said in a hoarse voice, “She knew. The police said that the person who shot her at the airport confessed that he told Yvette everything he overheard in the hospital.”

Julie choked up and said, “He’s so cruel! Yvette didn’t do anything wrong!”

Nicole closed her eyes and sighed.

“Forget it. Let’s just take good care of Aunt Quimbey from now on.

It’s not easy for her to be alone.”

Julie nodded.

The old man knelt down and trembled as he reached out to touch Yvette’s portrait.

“Yvie, I’m your father...”
