Alex looked over Hermione Yggdrasil’s condition.
Her injuries were somewhat severe. She had a wound on her chest, one that had been decapitated horizontally, and it looked like her sternum had been severed. The towering female assets adorning her chest looked like they had been paid no mercy, left half exposed in the open.
Her wounds were too severe and too bizarre. Hermione, however, was still alive.
At her heart area, there was a white light that leaped around gently and had protected her pulse. Now, this bright light was slowly repairing Hermione’s wound.
“It feels so familiar!” Alex murmured because of the familiar feeling the white light gave him.
It was Xienna’s aura.
“She’s not dead yet, but this life-saving white light is also not enough to save her life,” Neela said. “My lord, do you wish to save her?”
Alex had previously told her that everyone here was out to kill him. So, as Alex’s benefactor and faithful guardian, Neela naturally regarded every single one of those people to be enemies.
Alex furrowed his brows. “She’s my wife’s disciple.”
Neela was aware of who Dorothy Assex was. But as far as she remembered, Dorothy wasn’t a very powerful person. How could she have afforded to take in a disciple?
This was also one disciple that was in the second realm to Imminent Immortal.
Alex could see her doubts as clear as day. He finally relented and told her the identity of Dorothy’s reincarnation. Neela, who had seen a lot, pondered a little. Then she said, “Reincarnating with her memories, as well as hiding her soul in the Reincarnation Stone… This wife of yours is not at all ordinary, My Lord!”
Alex smiled bitterly. “Who says she is? If she was, could she have stolen my wife from me? I don’t even know what to do now.”
Neela thought deeply again for a moment and said, “Actually, it’s not like there’s no way out of this.”
“What, you have a solution?” Alex got excited and took Neela’s hand.

The moment Alex said that he saw that the white light in Hermione’s heart was getting weaker and would soon be extinguished. He immediately moved, transferring a stream of his chi into her body.
He made a seal and drew a formation. The Zharvakko Blessed Reversal formation was quickly activated.
However, half a day passed, and the wound on Hermione’s chest was healing too slowly. When it looked like it was going to heal completely, it seemed to be destroyed by some sort of force that ripped open her wound once more.
Alex was torn.
Initially, this was an awkward matter. However, half a day had already passed, yet the wound refused to close. It was odd.
“There is the power of laws at the location of her wound. It’s impossible to heal unless it’s removed,” said Neela after she studied it carefully and squeezed the wound.
Unexpectedly, the squeeze woke Hermione up.
Her eyes snapped open, and she sawAlex, who was leaning extremely close. It caused her to freeze for a moment. “What are you doing to me?!”
She was severely injured and had bled quite a lot. The floor was stained red, and even moving a finger was filled with agony. However, it didn’t mean that she had lost all her senses. Women were most sensitive at that particular part, and Neela had squeezed it quite hard, so it was apparent she had felt it.
Alex blinked. “What do you see me doing to you?”
Hermione was embarrassed and anxious. “You… Shameless!”
Alex deliberately scared her. “Call out and curse however you want. You’re like a dead fish right now. I can do whatever I want to you, and you’ll only be able to watch.”
“You…”
Alex laughed and ignored her.
The power of laws wasn’t something he could fully control as of now, making dealing with the one in Hermione’s wound without hurting her pulse a little difficult.
Finally, he shook his head. “Sorry, I can’t save you! I’ve tried my best. If your master wants to blame me when the time comes, there’s nothing I can do.”
A bitter expression crossed Hermione’s face, and she seemed to break down a little. “I shouldn’t have come here. I was just too greedy.”
Alex was speechless.

On the other hand, Alex felt no regrets. He had managed to gather many rewards from this place, after all. This was especially for the four shattered Chaos Beads, which was practically a dream come through.
“What was it that cut you up this badly? Was it a Puppet Immortal?” Alex asked.
“They… They were ghosts… Ghosts! There are ghosts here!”
Hermione Yggdrasil seemed distracted and incoherent.
Alex bristled, wondering if he should just leave her here to fend for herself.
Just then, among the ruins, a slender looking woman walked out.
“Puppet Immortal!”
Alex had killed hundreds of such puppets on the way here and was naturally no stranger to them. Every puppet looked exactly the same.
Alex drew his Dragon Bone Sword and waited for the Puppet Immortal to approach them.
Strangely, this female puppet did not immediately rush up to fight and kill them, unlike the others that Alex had decimated before her.
‘Alright, I’ll make a move first. I can save some energy by doing so anyway!’ Alex thought to himself and concentrated his energy.
However, the female puppet stood still and looked at him. Then, she said, “Dummy, why did you save her?”
Alex froze.
“You’re..?”
“I’m Mask!” the female puppet said.
“Huh..?”
Alex looked at the female puppet in a daze. He felt a little uncomfortable. Mask had saved him before, but Mask had clearly been a man. So why was Mask a female now, all of a sudden?!
“You’re Mask? Which one is your real body? Are you a male or female?!”
The female puppet laughed lightly, her voice chirpy like a bird. “Since I’m a Mask, how can you distinguish between genders?”
Alex glanced at Neela. Alex couldn’t understand this person called Mask.
Mask then said, “Follow me. Time is running out.”
Alex hesitated slightly, but he still pulled Neela’s hand and followed after Mask. As for Hermione, he had already tried his best. Whether she lived or died now would depend on her destiny.
Hermione, too, was upset after getting abandoned like that.
“Hey, are you going to leave me behind just like that? Didn’t you say you’re my master’s husband?”
“You didn’t believe it.”
“If you take me with you, I’ll believe you. ”
“I killed your entire family, aren’t you going to avenge them?”
“I… I’m not of the Yggdrasil bloodline. They don’t count as family.”
Mask, who had been walking in front, saw that Hermione called Alex back halfway. She had really no more time, so Mask simply walked back and threw Hermione over her shoulder. “Let’s go!”
Even with the added weight of Hermione on her, she still moved extremely swiftly. She navigated the stone ruins with familiar ease, as though she knew the place like the back of her hand.

At this time, the sun had set, and the full moon could be seen high in the sky. The moon was particularly round, but it didn’t look quite the same as the regular moon one would see.
Alex truly had doubts on whether this was the same moon as its Earth counterpart.
At this time, the ruins in front of them suddenly changed, and a strange scene appeared. The ground which they were walking on was rapidly evolving. Like how the river, the sea, the grass, and trees had gone through a long history of change, the pile of stone ruins was suddenly gone, replaced by a solemn sunset sanctuary.
The moment of sunset was when the sanctuary came alive.
Alex and Neela felt a deep shock running through. Following behind Mask, the two stepped through the doors of the sanctuary. They were met with the sight of a throne with a tall back.
On the throne, was a woman with her eyes closed.
Alex felt that this woman was unusually familiar, as though he had seen her somewhere before. Then, he became flabbergasted.
“She’s..?”
“F*ck, that can’t be possible, right?!”

Alex looked at Mask and then towards the woman who was sitting on the throne. Then, he asked, “Who is she?”
“A deity,” Mask replied.
It surprised Alex even more, and he asked again more tentatively, “Athena?”
There was no mistake. The woman on the throne looked similar to the sculpture that Alex had seen, especially the shape she took. She looked exactly the same.
The long spear. The golden shield. The precious crown.
The corner of Mask’s lips curled up slightly. “I didn’t expect that you would actually know my name from ancient times.”
Alex’s jaw dropped open. It was actually really Athena!
But wasn’t Athena a character from Greek mythology?
How could she appear in this place?
And this sanctuary, it was clearly just some stone ruins before this. But, as soon as the sun had set and the moon rose, it instantly changed into this western styled Sunset Shrine.
Alex also made a point to touch the buildings. They were all very real. None of them were illusions.
“So, you’re really the goddess of wisdom and daughter of Zeus, Pallas Athena? One of the twelve major gods of Olympus?”
“It seems that you’re quite well versed with the rumors and legends about me. But, some of those are true, and some are false. Listening is fine and all… But now, I have to ask you for one thing…”
Before she could even finish, the deafening sounds of battle came from outside the doors of the sanctuary. It sounded like people were trying to break in!
Alex had not closed the doors after he entered the sanctuary, and the doors had automatically closed behind him.
“Who’s out there?” Alex asked.
“The puppet army that Phaseless has brought!” Mask… Well, Athena said.
At the entrance of the sanctuary, countless puppets were frantically attacking the gates. Loud, earth-shattering noises thundered out from their assaults.
However, the structure of the sanctuary was strong, the two massive bronze doors alone hundreds of meters high. The doors had an unimaginable thickness and weren’t made out of any ordinary bronze material.
Divine power swirled on them, and they were carved with mysterious and complicated patterns. Images of the sun, moon, stars, mountains, and rivers, as well as the brilliance of gods leading through the ages, were also on them.
“Who the hell is Phaseless?” Alex felt it a little strange.
“He doesn’t seem that particularly strong in combat, right? Even Donovan could beat him before this. Miss Athena, with your ability, how can you not beat him?”
Athena shook her head. “There’s not only one ‘Phaseless’, it’s just one of the thousands of forms that Phaseless has.”
“So, just like how you’re Mask right now,” Neela said.
“They’re all clones? Is there something more powerful behind them?”
“You can put it that way,” Athena replied. “Those are all Puppet Immortals that have been contaminated.”

Neela could stand still no longer and rushed to check it out. On top of Sunset Shrine was a transparent window made from unknown materials. Tougher than the bronze doors, some puppets were also trying to break through it from the outside. However, they failed to breach it and turned back to attack the gates instead.
Neela stood at the window and looked down.
It was pitch black, and it was all people.
Neela could feel the fear and frustration creeping up on her. It felt like the time before she fell into a deep sleep, the scene of the Benares Dragon falling into despair.
She ran back and said to Athena, “Is this the Internal Realm created by Grand Emperor Rowan before he used fragments of Six Eternities? Didn’t you say that the puppet army inside it had been divided into two factions? Why are all the puppet immortals here and attacking this shrine? What do they want?”
Athena waved her hand, and a mechanical sound echoed from behind her. A door appeared from where the sound came from. However, there was another layer of glass on the inside of it.
Through the doorway, Alex and the others could see rows upon rows of puppet immortals, standing silently in a densely packed manner, their massive numbers countless to the naked eye.
“This is…”
“This is what they’re after! Uncontaminated puppet immortals!”
Athena glanced at the door, then waved to close the door behind her, shielding the puppet immortals inside. “Time is running out. The puppet immortals outside are monsters that have been contaminated by the Undying Clan, and they must die! This shrine is no longer stable, and it will collapse very soon… The puppet immortals behind me are the future of world peace. I promised the old founder that I would protect them until the day the Phoenix Empress and the king returns.”

Alex thought for a while. Could she possibly be talking about that ancient emperor’s partner, Grand Emperor Rowan?
The puppet that used Athena as her body had a graceful face and a determined expression. She moved her slender thighs, and stepped slowly towards the deity sitting on the throne. She then lifted the crown from the top of the deity’s head, which had olive branches wrapped around it.
