The woman dressed in black, also known as the daughter of the Corpse King, suddenly let out a hearty laugh. Her pair of unlookable eyes stared at the man. She said, “My beloved, you’ve finally come to meet me.”

Pfft…

Alex was shocked by her words, nearly choking on his own mental saliva.

‘This man here is pretty handsome, but still less compared to me…’

That was just how confident and cocky Alex was.

However, the Corpse King’s daughter was actually a corpse. Alex couldn’t imagine how they both would embrace and make out. It was a terrifying thought. He saw the man’s mouth twitching in disgust. The man even seemed to shudder, like shivering after coming out of a bath in cold, bitter winter. His heart couldn’t handle it.

The man said, “Don’t say something so foolish, this isn’t your choice to make.”

The woman sneered and frowned. “You ate my Spiritual Corpse Bead, so you are, in fact, my husband. And no one in the universe can change this, am I not right?”

The man looked troubled, mumbling in frustration. “Why am I so attractive? When will such luck stop?”

Alex was speechless upon hearing this.

Suddenly, the man attacked by throwing a dagger.

Whoosh.

In a shocking instant, Alex felt his brain go numb. The power of the dagger was too immense, making him feel like the world was about to end. It slashed to the air and created a ripple of vibrations. Wherever the dagger passed, a vision of another mental space appeared.

The space enveloped the woman.

Pshh…

The dagger dug a hole right in between the woman’s brows.

‘Such force!’

Alex had calculated the man’s attack from the woman’s point of view and concluded that he might suffer the same fate, wounded at a vital point and unable to escape.

‘Such a resolute man.’

‘He was still just sighing about his fate of love with this woman, and in the next second, he’s killing the woman he had just been talking about.‘

Alex then took the chance and grabbed Medusa’s Aegis Shield back.

On the other hand, the man shouted urgently, “The old dried fish will resurrect soon, dash!”

‘Who’s the old dried fish?’

‘Oh, he means the woman. She does kind of look like an old dried fish.’

The man quickly cut the ropes around his wife and embraced her tightly. “Mandy, I’m sorry for all your pain. It’s my fault! I’ll get you out, and we’ll never be separated again.”

Mandy nodded and said, “Bring them along! They’re good guys, and they’re from the States too!”

“They are American?” The man was surprised and looked towards Alex and the others.

Just then, the woman suddenly let out a peal of high-pitch maniacal laughter, despite having her forehead slashed open. A stream of thick energy surrounded her body, eerie and dark. She had resurrected. Her aura seemed to be linked to the lands in some way. It was mysterious and somewhat evil.

“Run!” The man shouted, slightly nervous.

He summoned the dagger back with his hand and used mental power to control it, this time to attack. It headed straight for the woman’s head and attacked seven times, each going right through her skull. Her whole head was a wreck. The attacks bore more than ten holes. If it’d been any other average person, they’d have been long dead. However, the daughter of the Corpse King was obviously different. She seemed to be immortal.

This time, her body recovered even faster. The holes caused by the dagger were healing at a speed visible to the eye. Her aura was also getting stronger.

The Pinnacle of Life Chapter 2599

“Follow me!” The man carried his wife and quickly jumped onto the golden boat in the sea, beckoning to Alex and the others as he moved.

Alex and Mystic Maiden took one last look at the woman and jumped onto the boat as well, followed by Luneth and the Immortal Bird…

The Immortal Bird’s was too large, so it could only hang onto the side of the boat with its claws. Its body landed in the water and was dragged along by the boat as they headed East.

Soon, the woman’s face had recovered, and all the wounds on her head were healed. She glared viciously at the golden boat that sped away, her skin-wrapped skull looking ruthless.

“You can’t escape!”

“You’ve eaten my Spiritual Corpse Core, so you’re meant to be mine!”

The blue sea looked like one with the skies-the cliffs surrounding them were filled with flowers in bloom. Right now, the ocean was quiet. The winds and waves were gentle, and the setting sun shone on the waters, creating countless star-like sparkles.

The boat that Alex and the others were on was fully gold, as if it was an actual block of gold.

Upon further inspection, one would notice that it wasn’t made of gold. On the boat surface were slim patterns. It looked like some sort of wood grain. It took a while for Alex to confirm that this was actually a mystical boat made of divine golden bamboo.

“Honey, these are friends I made by the seaside. They tried to stop the Corpse King’s daughter, and they come from the same country as us. If you can, do give them a hand. That woman must be crazy mad by now and won’t let us go that easily,” Mandy said.

The man took a good look at Alex and Mystic Maiden and nodded. Then, he pulled the lady into a tight hug. Even though she was a skeleton, he still kissed her without hesitating.

“Uhmm…”

Alex and the others froze in place. The sudden display of affection shocked them.

‘More importantly, why would he kiss a skeleton?’

‘Does this get his gears going or something?’

Alex had kissed Daya like this before. However, their tough teeth and bones was an experience no different than chewing stone.

“Don’t!” The lady pushed her eager man away. “There are others here save some face.”

The man remained indifferent. “But they don’t have faces.”

Alex and the others fell silent.

The lady said shyly, “I was talking about you.”

The man continued in a serious tone. “Saving face is the last thing on my mind compared to being affectionate with you.”

Mystic Maiden turned her head over, unwilling to watch any more of this.

‘Was this displaying affection?’

‘No, this is displaying bullsh*t!’

The lady pushed the man away and said bashfully, “Can’t you be serious for a moment?”

After that, she introduced themselves to Alex and the others. “Nice to meet y’all. Let me introduce myself. I’m Mandy, and he’s my husband.”

“He’s quite famous in America. He’s the principal of Flying Eagles Academy, Charles Lewin. Have you guys heard of him? Are you people from America as well?”

“Ermm…” Alex was stunned.

There had only ever been two principals of Flying Eagles Academy, and they were joint principals. One was his father-in-law, Gilbert.

The other was Jade’s ex-husband, Charles Lewin, who went by the nickname, Xerxes Lawlor.

As soon as Alex heard he was Jade’s ex, seeing him put on such a public display of affection with another woman in the Underworld made him feel uncomfortable.

‘No wonder Jade didn’t wanna get back with him.’

‘What a jerk…’

At that moment, Alex had taken himself off the list of jerks. This was a typical double standard. Alex could condone his own disloyalty, but that didn’t mean he’d do the same for other men.

Mandy soon asked, “Do you guys know each other?”

‘Of course, we do! I’d even recognize his ashes…’ However, Alex still said, “I don’t know him, but I think I’ve heard of him? Commander Benmore’s husband, was it?”

“And you can’t be Commander Benmore, right? You have to be careful having an affair… Mistresses are hated, so think it through!”

Jade was Alex’s master. Even though she hadn’t done anything significant for Alex, even tricking him at first, she was still his master. Most importantly, Jade had sacrificed so much for America. She defended the borders for decades as if it were one day. He respected that very much.

Jade was a legendary woman.

However, someone tried seducing her husband while protecting the country and succeeded in doing so. This obviously made Alex very uncomfortable.

This was why Alex was acting so straightforwardly.

“You…” Mandy was utterly stunned and looked at Alex in disbelief. It was lucky that she’d lost her flesh, and the others couldn’t see her face, or else it must be an exciting expression.

“Don’t talk nonsense, I’m not a mistress,” she growled.

Principal Lewin definitely took his woman’s side, glaring at Alex. “You know nothing, kiddo. Stop lying, or I can’t guarantee what I might do to you.”

Alex had met Xerxes before, and Jade was there when it happened too. Jade even embraced Alex just to make Xerxes jealous, and she’d succeeded…

However, right at this moment, Alex was just a skeleton. If he didn’t proclaim his identity, Xerxes wouldn’t know that he was jade’s student. As for Xerxes, he looked very different from reality as well.

To put it blankly, his current appearance wasn‘t real. He was just a skeleton, but just like Baton, his appearance was an image conjured from soul power. The two weren’t close at all. If Mandy hadn’t told them his true identity, he wouldn’t have known that he’s Principal Lewin.

On the other hand, Alex was truly surprised about Xerxes’ powers since they weren’t this strong before.

Since his powers now were weakened by ten percent, he could only let go of the issue. Else that f*ckboy Xerxes might really beat him up because of his mistress. Besides, he didn’t want to let them know his identity.

“Hmph!” Mandy snorted, obviously still mad. Then she said something that caught Alex off guard. “The rumor you heard is the exact opposite of the truth.”

Stunned, Alex asked, “What do you mean? You’re not the mistress, but it’s Commander Benmore…”

“Ahem!” Now it was Xerxes’ turn to fake a cough. “Why are we talking about this? The situation’s critical now, and our lives are at stake. The most important thing now is to escape.”

Mandy said sadly, “I just feel uncomfortable. I’m the victim here, but everybody thinks I’m the mistress.”

Everyone fell into speechlessness once more.

Xerxes gently consoled his significant other gently, “There, there. Be a good girl, and let’s not talk about this. It’s all in the past. Jade… It’s not easy for her either.”

Mandy said bitterly, “I’m not blaming her. I pity her more than you do, if not, I wouldn’t have lent you to her in the first place! I just don’t wanna take all the blame.”

Now, Alex was full of curiosity and listened with full attention. ‘What happened?’

Even Mystic Maiden was attracted and was listening intently. What did the word “lent” mean?

She suddenly asked, “Does the ‘lent’ mean surrogate?”
