Chapter 2235
Chapter 2235
Cecilia looked at the two little troublemakers and laughed. “Elliot, if you miss Amy and Dahlia, just call them. I already gave you Aunt Madeline’s and Aunt Meredith’s numbers.”
Elliot fidgeted with his fingers.
“Isn’t it too early to call my future mother-in-law? Besides, I haven’t prepared anything.”
Cecilia fell silent.
Jonathan said, “Don’t tell me you like both girls.”
Elliot looked over. “Of course. They’re both adorable.”
Only a child could say that—an adult would’ve been roasted for it.
Cecilia explained gently, “Elliot, when you like someone, you have to be devoted. Your heart can’t be split in two.”
Elliot nodded emphatically. “Mommy, you and Brother misunderstood me. I like both little sisters, but I only want to marry one.”
“Oh? Which one?” Cecilia asked, curious.
Elliot chuckled and blinked. “Mommy, that’s a secret.”
Cecilia felt both amused and helpless. She hadn’t expected her young son to be thinking about marriage already.
Still, she couldn’t help wondering what her future daughter-in-law might be like.
“All right, Mommy won’t ask.”
She decided not to press him, knowing he’d speak when he was ready.
Jonathan suddenly fell silent.
Cecilia noticed right away. “Jon, what’s wrong?”
Elliot looked up. “Bro, don’t tell me you like them both too?”
Jonathan raised an eyebrow, a perfect miniature of Nathaniel.
“Why can’t I like them?”
“Of course you can. We’ll keep it fair.” Elliot scooted closer. “So, Jonathan, which one do you plan to marry?”
“Secret,” Jonathan replied coolly.
Elliot immediately switched to puppy eyes. “Come on, Jonathan, tell me! Who is it?”
Jonathan lowered his head and kept eating, ignoring him.
“If you won’t say, how am I supposed to know if we like the same girl?”
“You’re not saying either. Relax—I’ll compete with you fair and square.”
Elliot: “…”
A flicker of panic crossed his face.
With grades like his, he knew he’d never beat Jonathan.
Watching them, Cecilia felt a twinge of unease.
They were still just kids—but what if this childish talk somehow turned real one day?
The image of Nathaniel and Nicholas flashed through her mind, and she immediately cut them off.
“Elliot, Jon, even if you end up liking the same girl, no fighting, no arguing—understand?”
Elliot puffed out his chest. “Mommy, come on. Brothers are like limbs, while women are like clothes—you can change clothes, but you can’t cut off your limbs.”
Nathaniel happened to walk by and gave him a sharp knock on the head.
“Stop watching shows with messed-up values,” he said, then added, “By that logic, can I swap out your mom whenever I feel like it?”
Elliot winced, rubbing his head, eyes watering as he looked at Nathaniel.
“Of course not.”
“Exactly. Both brothers and wives matter—but your wife matters more. She’s the one who stays with you for life, the mother of your children. She’s not someone you replace,” Nathaniel said.
