She exclaimed and raised her hand to grab the perfume that Madeline had just made.
“Don’t touch it.” Madeline quickly stopped her and said sternly, “You are not allowed to touch anything here. Get out now.”
Hannah chuckled disapprovingly. “ I even touched your most important person, so what else can’t I touch?”
She said proudly. She even wanted to reach out to touch Madeline’s perfume bottle.
Madeline reached out decisively and grasped Hannah’s wrist.

Displeased, Hannah glared at Madeline. “What are you doing?”
Madeline raised her sharp and stern eyes before saying aggressively, “I said, don’t touch my things.”
After she finished reminding Hannah in a cold tone, she swung Hannah’s hand away and turned around.
“Leave. Don’t disturb my work. You can enjoy afternoon tea at this time.”
As Madeline spoke, she noticed that Hannah was not speaking, but Madeline heard some movements instead.
She turned her head to look over and found that Hannah was still reaching out and grabbing the perfume she had just made.
This was the only finished product at the present, and Madeline had made an appointment to let the client try out this perfume tonight.
Hannah noticed Madeline’s eyebrows furrowing, so she probably realized that Madeline cared about the perfume a lot.

“Is this the perfume made by a senior perfumer? It smells really good, but if I let go now, will your hard work these days be wasted?”
Hannah’s words were very threatening, but Madeline laughed instead.
“So, are you trying to talk terms with me again?”
“I dared not talk terms with you. I know you’re very smart, Eveline, so…”
Hannah glanced at the bottle of perfume and lifted the corners of her lips into a sinister sneer.
Following her sinister sneer, she suddenly released her hand holding the perfume bottle.

Jeremy stopped in his tracks. Before Hannah could say anything, Jeremy coldly said, “I’d advise you to leave as soon as possible. If a drop of water or a gram of spice went missing, you’ll take full responsibility.”
“..” Astonished, Hannah’s jaw dropped. When she saw Jeremy leaving with Madeline in his arms after warning her, she quickly went up ahead and blocked them.

An hour later, Madeline and Jeremy returned to the office together.
When they stepped out of the elevator, Madeline spotted Hannah sitting on the sofa by the reception.

“Nothing. I just think it’s very boring staying in the villa. Since I’m here, I want to use this opportunity to learn something.”
Hannah expressed her thoughts and then she peered at Madeline.
“I found out that the perfume you made is very special and that your laboratory is very beautiful, so I decided to learn perfume making with you.”
Hannah did not sound like she was negotiating or asking for a favor; she was demanding this and ordering Madeline instead.
Jeremy’s charming eyebrows furrowed. How would he agree to Hannah’s request? However, before he could say anything, Madeline suddenly agreed decisively.

Madeline lifted her hand and put the phone to the side where Hannah could not reach.
Without looking at Hannah, Madeline turned her head to smile at Jeremy on the screen instead. “ Jeremy, I’ll see you at home later. I’m hanging up now.”
“Okay, see you later, ” Jeremy replied softly and did not hang up.
Madeline knew what Jeremy was thinking. He was never willing to be the first one to hang up.
“Eveline, I want to say a few words to Mr. Whitman. Why are you so…”
“What’s wrong with me?” Madeline suddenly interrupted her and asked as she hung up the phone.
Hannah widened her eyes, displeased. “Eveline, I’m already Mr. Whitman’s person, and I’ve already moved into Whitman Manor. So, who are you to prevent me from talking to Mr. Whitman? Also, why did you introduce me like that just now? Was I wrong? Am I not Mr. Whitman’s person?”
Hannah shrieked arrogantly. She was so loud that the driver could even hear her clearly. Madeline slammed the newly signed contract on the seat with a loud slam and then lifted her stern and beautiful eyes. “Enough is enough.”

Madeline was very calm when she spoke, but the aura her eyes exuded was abnormally domineering.
Hannah was a little stunned at the sight of the cold expression on Madeline’s face. Hannah pursed her lips together, but she spoke not a single word.
Since her first interaction with Madeline, she had felt that Madeline was a soft and gentle young mistress from a rich family. Madeline looked calm and collected no matter the circumstances.
Tonight, however, Madeline was very different.
Her eyes and her temperament looked extraordinarily stern.
Hannah had to admit that she was frightened by this aura.
“Do you know what you had just said in front of the client?” Madeline questioned her coldly.
Hannah, stunned upon hearing that, then quickly recalled how she had introduced herself to that client named Mr. Sutton.
She had said that she was Jeremy’s person. Despite her uneasiness, Hannah, still displeased
with Madeline’s attitude, sneered arrogantly and disdainfully.
“What did I say? Was I wrong? Mr. Whitman and I are indeed…”
“You colluded with Carter shamelessly from the start and attempted to do something to my husband. After achieving your goals, you repeatedly address yourself as my husband’s person without shame.”
Madeline paused for a moment as she spoke. Her eyes, brimming with disdain, scanned Hannah’s face that was gradually turning red from embarrassment.
“We’re both women, and I’m already looking down on you regarding this.”
“What further shocked me was that you even have the audacity to come to the company to make a fuss. Hmph.”
Madeline lifted her cold and charming eyes then chuckled as she looked at Hannah.
“Now that it has come to this, do you really think that you’re a part of the Whitmans and that you’re really Jeremy’s person? Do you really think you can
step on me, order me around, and demand things from me?”
“…”
Surprised, Hannah looked at Madeline who just said that. She could not think of any way to retort Madeline, nor did she have the courage to do so.
Hannah started to panic at the sight of the icy chill that was Madeline’s gaze.
“Miss Bolton, you can make a fuss, but let me remind you, you need to read the room before you make a fuss.”
Madeline’s tone was calm, but it was laced with warning.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re in Glendale or anywhere else. Jeremy Whitman’s wife will only be me, Eveline Montgomery. The only woman who can call herself Jeremy’s person will also be me, Eveline Montgomery. You’d better watch your mouth when you speak next time.”
As Madeline spoke, she shifted her stern gaze to look into Hannah’s bewildered eyes.
“Don’t try to cross the line. You’re not qualified to do So.”
After Madeline had spoken, an abnormal silence enveloped the inside of the car.
Hannah seemed to be able to hear how unstable her breathing was.
She was scared, but she dared not open her mouth to speak.
She felt like a speck of dust in the air when Madeline said that to her. She did not have this power to compete with an independent and confident woman with a respectable status.
When Madeline saw that Hannah was not speaking, she grabbed the contract from earlier and started looking through it.
Her thin fingers glided across the papers. She looked so nonchalant, but the elegance exuded from her actions was something that Hannah could never have.
Hannah watched Madeline, and she said nothing the whole way. She endured the extremely cold and stifling atmosphere in the car until the car stopped.
Jeremy had arrived at the old manor before Madeline. After the car stopped, Jeremy walked to the side of the car and affectionately opened the door for Madeline.
Madeline got out of the car with a smile and then held Jeremy’s arm intimately.

She knew Hannah was watching her, so at the present, she wanted Hannah to know who the matriarch of the family and Jeremy’s one true love was.
As for Jeremy, he would not pay attention to how Hannah was feeling, of course. He did not even notice that there was another woman inside the car, and he only allowed Madeline to hold his arm to walk into the house.
When Jackson, who had come home after school, saw Madeline, the handsome boy ran over to her happily while calling out to her.
“Mommy, Mommy, I called Lily just now, and she said she missed me. She also misses Mommy and Daddy too.”
As the little guy said that, his adorable eyebrows furrowed.
“But Lily looked so haggard. Is she still sick?”
Haggard.
Madeline heard her son describing Lillian’s current state as haggard.
She felt her heart aching, but she still gave her son a soft and amiable smile. Madeline then lifted her hand to caress the little guy’s head.
“ It’s because she’s not with Mommy, Daddy, and Jack, so that’s why she misses us. When a person misses someone very much, they’ll look haggard. So, as long as Lily comes home, she’ll become as lively and energetic as before.”
Jackson blinked his huge eyes as he seriously listened to what Madeline said.
“What about her sickness? Is she all better?”
“Of course. After I finish my work, I’ll take her home.”
“Really?” Jackson’s beautiful eyes were filled with bright light again.
A bright smile blossomed on Madeline’s face too. “Yeah, I promise that I’ll bring Lily home.”
“Yay!” Jackson cheered and hugged Madeline. “ Mommy, let’s go have dinner now.”
“Okay,” Madeline replied with a smile and held her son’s hand to the dining room.
Hannah finally entered the living room slowly. When she saw Madeline, Jeremy, and Jackson
walking into the dining room happily as a family of three, she suddenly realized that her presence was unnecessary.
Joining the family? It was not real at all! Madeline was just deceiving her!
Madeline never wanted to leave this family! Hannah clenched her fists and gritted her teeth.
“Eveline, it seems that you’ve been deceiving me this whole time. Alright, just you wait!”
Hannah swore inwardly, and then, instead of having dinner, she went upstairs to the guest room.
The next morning, Madeline got into Jeremy’s car to head to the office.
Hannah watched this as she stood at the front door. She glared unhappily at the car that sped away, and then she stopped a car at the side of the road to head to Whitman Corporation.
When Madeline arrived at the company, she went to her office, packed up, and headed to the factory.
The data of the perfume had been sent to the person in charge of the factory. Nevertheless, out of responsibility, Madeline still went and monitored them.
Of course, Hannah followed her.
She wanted to see with her own eyes what would happen to the mass-produced perfume after her tempering with the data.
She must mess this order up at least.
When that happened, she would watch Madeline make a fool out of herself!
However, she was worried that Madeline would notice something wrong with this batch of perfume. After thinking about it, Hannah decided to do something to distract Madeline’s attention.
