Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife chapter 2011
Hannah looked around the factory. She realized the employees were all focused on their work while Madeline was talking to the person in charge of the factory.
After they finished talking, Madeline would inspect the factory.
Hannah did not want to let Madeline inspect the manufacturing process of the perfume. When she saw Madeline changing her clothes before going into the factory, she figured she must carry through whatever happens. As such, she ran over directly to make a fuss.
“Eveline! ”
Madeline was in the process of changing into a coat to enter the factory when suddenly, she saw Hannah running into the room hurriedly, yelling out Madeline's name.
Puzzled, Madeline looked at Hannah. “Is there an urgent matter? If it's not urgent, I need to inspect the factory first.”
“Of course, it's urgent since I came to you so hurriedly.”
Hannah said with an anxious look on her face. She then looked at the person in charge and the manager behind Madeline. Suddenly, the look in her eyes changed and her face became extremely aggrieved, weak, and helpless.
“Miss Montgomery, I mean, Ms. Montgomery, I've thought it through. I know that I'm not qualified to fight you. I admit what happened between me and Mr. Whitman was just an accident.”
Hannah suddenly brought this up. It seemed that she was unintentionally exposing what happened to her and Jeremy.
Madeline's gaze darkened as she felt the discomfort from the person in charge and the manager.
However, Hannah did not stop. She continued.
“Miss Montgomery, I gave up my work to come to Glendale for Mr. Whitman. I don't have anything left. I only hope that you can adequately provide for me while I'm in Glendale. I'm fine with just a shelter. I will properly learn from you too, so please don't chase me away. I'll be happy to only be a servant in Whitman Manor too!”
Hannah spoke sincerely, tears glistening in her eyes.
When the person in charge and manager behind Madeline saw this scene, they coughed awkwardly.
“Ms. Montgomery, we'll wait for you inside.”
Madeline knew they did not want to get involved in her private matters, so she smiled and nodded.
“Alright, go ahead.”
The two nodded and quickly began to walk into the factory.
Madeline and Hannah were the only ones remaining in the empty hall outside.
“What are you trying to do now?” Madeline asked with a slight smile, seemingly not infuriated or agitated by Hannah's nonsense.
Hannah was impressed by Madeline's mentality. How could she always be so unbothered and calm?
When Hannah saw the two leaving, her intention to raise hell decreased significantly.
She pressed her lips together nonchalantly. “ I'm not making a fuss. I'm telling the truth.”
Hannah said as she sulked, and then she looked into Madeline's eyes.
“Eveline, I finally understand that you've just been deceiving me this whole time. There is no joining the family. You've just been trying to calm me down for the time being so that I stop making a fuss and affect you and Mr. Whitman's reputation, haven't you?”
Hannah questioned Madeline with an unyielding attitude.
“Eveline, on the surface, you're soft and gentle but on the inside, you're an extremely sinister two- faced b*tch! ”
Madeline calmly listened to Hannah's offensive statement.
“Two—faced b*tch?”
Madeline was ineffably amused.
“Miss Bolton, I think you're neither an idiot nor a buffoon. So, you should know very well who's the real two-faced b*tch.”
Hannah's gaze darkened. “What do you mean by that, Eveline?”
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife chapter 2012
“ I mean whatever you meant. ” Madeline did not bother explaining or arguing with Hannah. “ If you had really come to your senses, then you should do your work properly with me. But if you hadn't, then I'd remind you not to say anything unseemly at inappropriate times.”
Madeline decisively and straightforwardly warned Hannah. Her arrogant eyes scanned Hannah's face before she strode into the factory.
Hannah, terrified that Madeline would see the tampered data, quickly ran up to stop her.
“Eveline! Stop right there, Eveline! ” “Don't let that person enter the factory.”
Without even turning back, Madeline ordered the security guard who was watching the entrance to the workshop before continuing walking inside coolly.
The security guard stopped Hannah from entering.
When Hannah saw that Madeline had entered the building, she angrily stomped her feet.
She waited outside the door anxiously, nervous that Madeline would sense something wrong.
Approximately half an hour later, Madeline walked out of the building with the two individuals.
The person in charge smiled at Madeline and respectfully promised her, “Don't worry, Ms. Montgomery. We will finish the product precisely a s per your instructions. The exact end date will also be as you have designated. Please don't worry.”
“Okay, thank you.” Madeline returned a polite smile before turning around.
When Hannah saw Madeline coming out, she did nothing, and instead, she stood where she was and stared straight at Madeline.
'It seems that there's no anomaly.' Hannah thought in her heart.
Madeline paid no attention to her either. After a change of clothes, Madeline came out with her bag, ready to return to the company.
Hannah then finally followed Madeline into the car.
Since Hannah was anxious to know the result of Madeline's inspection, she had to change her precious attitude.
She sat in the backseat with Madeline, so she used this opportunity to inch closer to Madeline.
“Eveline, I didn't want to argue with you, but our current relationship is very strange. What I said just now was true. I know I can't be with Mr. Whitman, so I won't fantasize about it anymore. But...”
She paused for a while and continued with a tone that sounded pretty friendly and earnest.
“I want to stay in Whitman Manor and work in Whitman Corporation. This request is not too much, is it?”
Madeline did not consider it for long. She lifted her eyes to look into Hannah's eyes and gave her a straightforward reply.
“No.”
“It's settled then. ” A satisfied smile appeared on Hannah's face immediately. After staying silent for a few seconds, she asked Madeline the main question, “Right, how was your inspection in the manufacturing room? Are you happy with what you saw?”
Upon hearing that, Madeline nodded seriously. “ This factory has always worked with Whitman Corporation, and they passed the quality check. I've always been satisfied with them. I was just inspecting them as the standard operating procedure.”
It seemed that Madeline still had not realized anything wrong.
True, the perfume was still in the manufacturing stage, so how would she detect any mistakes?
It would be too late if they only found out when it was completed.
When that happened, this batch of perfume would not meet the standard stated in the contract, and Madeline would be met with the trouble of breaching the contract.
Hannah thought inwardly, and an evil grin appeared on her lips.
Madeline's beautiful eyes caught sight of the grin on Hannah's lips. and Madeline nonchalantly said, “ Hannah, since you already made yourself clear, so this will also be the last time I ask you. Have you really thought it through? Do you promise to stop making a fuss, to work hard and start over now?"
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife chapter 2013
The look in Madeline's eyes prevented Hannah
from lying.
Hannah, somewhat guilt-ridden, hesitated and looked out of the car window, then chuckled sadly.
“What other choice do I have? I have to go on with my life, so I have to compromise, don't I?”
Hannah replied reluctantly.
“Now, I finally understand that I simply can't compete with you. I was too self-righteous and naive from the start. Also, Mr. Whitman is not a man I can strive for.”
Hannah said with a sad sigh and lowered her eyes.
“Mr. Whitman is a very attractive man. I only blame myself for not recognizing my identity and status. I insisted on wishful thinking, and now I'm like a moth to a flame. Sigh...”
Hannah sighed deeply after saying that.
Madeline looked at Hannah calmly and listened to what she said.
“Is there anything else you want to say to me besides this?” Madeline asked meaningfully.
Hannah was taken aback for a moment. She then lifted her head, met Madeline's gaze, and spoke with certainty.
“I have already said everything I want to say. I just hope that you will not quibble with someone like me. Please let me stay in Whitman Corporation and let me stay by your side so that I can study hard. ”
She seemed sincere.
Madeline, instead of inquiring further, merely gave Hannah a faint smile.
In the next few days, Hannah followed Madeline in and out of the company. They would return to Whitman Manor after they got off work.
Additionally, she would very diligently help with packing, and sometimes she would also deliberately go to please Jackson.
However, Jackson was a clever and quick-witted child, so he could immediately feel that Hannah's smile to him was not from the heart.
Madeline, who also noticed all of this, tactfully told Hannah that she did not need to worry about her son and that she only needed to do her job well.
On the surface, Hannah agreed; on the inside, she had already started grumbling about Madeline.
Her jealousy toward Madeline had also grown a little bit more.
She now waited for the completion of the batch of perfumes. When the client would come to inspect and receive the goods, Madeline would definitely get into trouble due to the difference in smell.
One week later, the first batch of perfumes was completed.
Mr. Sutton flew over for inspection in person and politely said that he would invite Madeline to dinner.
The day Hannah had been waiting for finally arrived. She knew that these perfumes were all problematic because they were made according to her tampered data. The smell must be different from the one Madeline showed the client.
However, what the client wanted was the smell he smelled during the testing that day.
Inside the president's office in Whitman Corporation.
Madeline and Jeremy received Mr. Sutton together. After the exchange of courteous formalities, Madeline and Jeremy took the guests to the warehouse where the perfume was stored.
At this time, Hannah also found an excuse to come to the warehouse with Madeline.
The customer randomly took two boxes of perfume from the shelf and opened them.
Madeline had done everything personally, from the packaging to the bottle design, and the client was also very satisfied with these.
He came here on account of its reputation. He knew that Madeline was not only good at perfume making, but she was also a very good jewelry designer. Since she was a designer, she would have considerable taste, and these simple designs were not a problem to her.
The client opened the package, admired the light blue liquid in the glass bottle, then praised continuously, “Mrs. Whitman's design is so perfect.
I believe that once this perfume goes on the market, it will be very popular among women.”
Madeline gave him a light smile magnanimously and gently. She then handed the test paper to the client politely.
“Mr. Sutton is too courteous. Please check and see if the smell of this batch of finished products is different from the ones that day?”
Hannah's eyes lit up when she heard Madeline's words from one side.
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife chapter 2014
A mischievous, expectant smirk appeared on her face as she watched the client squirt a few pumps of the perfume on the test paper. The client then shook the test paper, brought it to his nose, and sniffed.
However, before the client finished smelling the perfume, Hannah faintly smelled a faint and similar scent.
This faint and light scent was clearly the smell of the bottle of perfume that she smelled in Madeline's laboratory that day.
It was the exact same scent!
“This is it. How refreshing.” The client's praises pulled the currently dumbstruck Hannah back to her senses.
Hannah stared blankly at the client who picked up another bottle of perfume to try out the scent. Once again, there was no difference.
The smell of this batch of perfume was exactly the same as one Madeline brought on the day of the testing!
This greatly confused Hannah, but at the same time, it also greatly depressed her and pissed her “Mr. Whitman, Mrs. Whitman, I am very satisfied with this collaboration. I have booked a table in the hotel. I hope you two can do me the honor of having dinner with me this evening,” the client invited them sincerely and kindly.
Madeline lifted her eyes and looked at Jeremy before she agreed.
“Okay, then we'll see you tonight.”
“Okay, see you tonight.” Satisfied, the client left.
Madeline glanced at the goods on the shelf in satisfaction. She felt very proud of herself.
Jeremy walked behind her and lifted his hand to grab her by the shoulder.
“Linnie, I'm so glad that I can marry such a wise and outstanding wife like you in my life.”
His deep and alluring voice, laced with praises from his heart, drifted into Madeline's ears.
Madeline praised Jeremy as well. “ I'm also lucky to marry such a charming man like you.”
She smiled and turned around to look at Hannah, who was stunned in place.
At this moment, Hannah also noticed Madeline looking at herself. She pressed her lips together. When she saw Madeline and Jeremy being so sweet, she clenched her fists and turned around to leave.
“Wait.”
Madeleine stopped her.
Hannah stopped in her tracks and asked coldly, “ What is it?”
Madeline smiled and strode toward Hannah.
“You must be very curious, aren't you?”
“…”
Hannah did not understand what Madeline meant at that moment.
“Are you curious why the finished goods are the same as the initial ones even though you tampered with the data.?”
Hannah lifted her head abruptly and looked at Madeline as Madeline asked that question.
“What do you mean? Why are you asking that?” Hannah widened her eyes in confusion; her heartbeat became frantic.
She seemed to realize something. This whole time, she had thought that she was the one scheming against Madeline, but in reality, she was the one
who fell into Madeline's trap.
Madeline slowly and calmly curled her lips into a soft smile, and then she turned around to pick up the tablet on the table. After that, she opened the backend for Hannah.
“Does this look familiar?”
Madeline lifted her thin and long finger to point at the screen.
“Do you still remember which data you changed back then, hmm?”
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife chapter 2015
Hearing what Madeline asked and seeing the content that Madeline was referring to, Hannah was certain that Madeline had already known what Hannah had done!
Hannah's expression changed drastically, her face turning pale and red, seemingly mortified.
Madeline calmly looked at Hannah. “At the time, Jeremy reminded you, didn't he? He told you to leave my laboratory as soon as possible and to not touch anything in there, but you still did.”
Hannah, not wanting to be convicted just like that, gritted her teeth and argued.
“What did I touch? Eveline, don't try to wrongfully accuse me again!'
“You know very well whether I've wronged you. The surveillance in my laboratory captured it very clearly too. Why? Do you want to verify it?”
« ... »
At the mention of the surveillance, Hannah was momentarily speechless.
She stared at the calm and composed Madeline, and Hannah felt powerless to argue. As such, she simply let go of all pretenses.
“Eveline, you've known it for a long time, so why are you playing tricks on me like this? You were also fooling me by keeping me by your side to help you, weren't you?”
“Didn't you stay by my side because you want to see me make a fool out of myself?
Madeline asked with a smile with an unsurprised smile.
“You're just disappointed by the outcome of this.”
“You...”
“Hannah, how can you be so naive?”
“ .” When Hannah heard Madeline calling her naive, her face fell. However, before she could make a bigger scene, she heard Madeline's calm explanation.
“You can't change this data just because you want to.” Madeline smiled and lifted her finger to tap her head softly. “I've recorded the data here.”
« ... »
“Even if I had forgotten, I'd definitely notice something's wrong with the perfume before I
handed them to the client. The client would never have gotten their hands on the problematic perfume. Do you think a huge company like Whitman Corporation would allow someone to take advantage of a loophole like this?"
Upon hearing that, Hannah was completely stunned. She also completely understood that she was the prey.
She had felt pleased with herself thinking that she would be able to see Madeline panic, but she had not expected that she was the laughingstock all along.
She neither got the person she wanted nor witnessed the drama she wanted. The more Hannah thought about this, the angrier and more unconvinced she felt.
Hannah's eyes gradually turned aggressive as she glared at Madeline. Suddenly, out of humiliation, she flew into a rage and lifted her hand to hit Madeline.
However, before she could land a strike, Jeremy grabbed her arm.
The man's austere and cold eyes pierced her like a sharp sword. Shocked, Hannah glanced at him, and then she felt as if she had been assassinated and her whole body shuddered violently.
“Get lost,” Jeremy parted his lips and said coldly before swinging Hannah's arm away.
Hannah stumbled backward and staggered a few steps as her back crashed into the shelf behind her.
She looked at Jeremy's cold gaze, feeling extremely aggrieved in her heart.
“I now know that you two have been colluding with one other. You've just been waiting to see me make a fool out of myself!” Hannah roared out. “Mr.
Whitman, I like you so much, and I gave myself to you, but I didn't think that you'd be so cruel!'
After hearing this, Jeremy's gaze darkened.
“Even though you colluded with Carter to harm me, I didn't even look into it, so why are you still playing the victim? Do you think you're very innocent and pitiful?”
Jeremy's alluring eyes were filled with disdain. “No, you're not pitiful. You're hateful.”
Hateful...
Hannah had never expected Jeremy to use this word to describe her.
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife chapter 2016
'Am I actually hateful in Mr. Whitman's eyes?'
She felt more and more aggrieved, tears of dissatisfaction fell from her eyes. Exasperated, she then raised her hand and swept the perfume bottles on the shelf.
“Jeremy, Eveline, I hate you!”
Hannah yelled at Madeline and Jeremy, then she turned around and ran away, not caring where she was running to.
Jeremy frowned. He did not care about Hannah, but he felt sorry for the smashed perfume.
“She broke some of them, and now the quantity isn't right. I'll ask the factory to work overtime,” Jeremy said and was about to make the call.
Madeline stopped him and said, “It doesn't matter. Mr. Sutton is very easy-going, and it's not a lot, so he won't mind.”
Jeremy knelt and picked up the broken perfume bottle. “What I feel sorry for is your hard work.”
Upon hearing this, Madeline's heart warmed. She smiled and walked up to Jeremy's side, then she squatted down and cleaned the perfume on the ground with him.
“I think she'll come back again, ” Madeline predicted.
Jeremy knew that Madeline was referring to Hannah.
“Don't bother with this person anymore. To be honest, she has a weird character.”
Madeline agreed. “She is very confident, but a little overconfident. The most outrageous thing is that she still insists that she's right.”
“Linnie. ” Jeremy got up and took Madeline's hand. “Don't think about this person anymore.”
“Okay.” Madeline smiled. “I'm going to F Country in two days.”
“Do you want to bring Lily back?”
“Yes, I want to bring her back,” Madeline said with a melancholy sigh. “Regardless of whether Fabian agrees or not, I have to give it a try.”
“I want to go with you.” Jeremy's eyes were full of expectation.
However, Madeline simply rejected him, “No, you must stay here to keep an eye on Jack and Pudding.
I'm worried that Hannah will be triggered by this incident to do something extreme to our children. ”
“How would she dare? Linnie, you're overthinking.”
Madeline smiled and shook her head. “If it were before, I would feel that I was worrying. But after so many incidents, I really have to believe that anything could happen in this world.”
Upon listening to what Madeline said, Jeremy's expression also became serious.
'Linnie is indeed right.'
He thought in his heart and then hugged Madeline.
“Linnie, you must be careful. If Fabian is very firm, don't go head-on with him.”
“Yeah, I know. I will play it by ear, ” Madeline promised, but she was also very confident. “I believe that no matter what, he'll still let me see Lily eventually."
“That'll be the best.” Jeremy sighed, then he tightened his arms around Madeline.
“I hope my wife can successfully bring my precious daughter back. When that happens, our family can be reunited again.”
Madeline smiled softly when she heard that. “ I'll try my best to fulfill my husband's wishes.”
She smiled as she promised. Two days later, she got onto the plane to F Country.
In F Country.
Inside a simple apartment.
Shirley sat on the chair next to the balcony. Her eyes were closed as she basked in the rare winter sun.
Suddenly, she heard Carter's dissatisfied grumblings behind her.
“What do you mean no? I'm already in F Country and you're telling me no? I'm telling you now that you have to make it possible even if it's not! ”
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife chapter 2017
Carter roared out furiously and hung up.
Shirley did not know why he was so angry, nor did she know who the person on the other end of the phone was. She only knew that Carter did not bring her to F Country to avoid being pursued. He must have other reasons.
Carter ended the call and threw the phone onto the sofa.
He furrowed his eyebrows; his face looked extremely distressed.
A while later, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. After spacing out for a few seconds, he recomposed himself and walked toward the balcony.
Shirley looked away and did not look at Carter again.
Carter understood Shirley's current attitude towards him. He had gradually adapted to it. He did not feel very disappointed or sad because he could feel that in Shirley's heart, he was still very much present.
“ I'm going out now to buy some daily necessities. You just stay here, don't go anywhere, ” Carter informed and urged at the same time.
Shirley laughed sarcastically. “I'm a disabled person whose lower body is paralyzed. Do you think I can still go out and travel the world?”
Carter could not help but furrow his brows when he heard that.
He also knew that Shirley was purposely talking back at him. He did not care too, so instead, he walked over to carry Shirley.
Shirley had stopped resisting a long time ago, and instead, she was like a lifeless puppet as she allowed Carter to maneuver her around.
Carter carried Shirley to the bed and placed the blanket on her softly.
“I'll be back soon.”
He promised before turning around to leave.
Shirley looked in the direction of the door, and she did not come back to her senses after a long time.
She believed that Carter had not merely gone out to buy daily necessities. There must be something else.
It was afternoon again. The sun was shining brightly on this pleasant day.
It was rare for F Country to have such nice weather during winter.
Fabian helped Lillian put on some warm clothes before carrying her outside.
In City Park.
Although it was not a weekend, there were still a lot of people.
Fabian carried Lillian to the path that was covered in cobblestone before placing her down gently.
“Lily, let's start, ” Fabian said, smiling gently.
Lillian lifted her pure and adorable little face and grinned at Fabian.
The adult and child then started walking on the path with less than one meter between them.
Lillian was also used to this. Recently, Fabian has been taking her out for some fresh air and sun every afternoon.
Even though it would only last for half an hour, it was already more than enough for Lillian.
Fabian would accompany her for a walk, and after the walk, he would take her nearby for some simple shopping and buy her gifts and snacks.
She was accustomed to this daily routine, and she liked it.
From a distance, Carter wore a black suit and sunglasses as he stood quietly in the dark, quietly observing the heart-warming scene on the cobblestone path.
Carter could not help but burst out laughing when he saw how Fabian was taking care of Lillian.
“Fabian, when I told you those things, I wanted to arouse the hatred in your heart to deal with Jeremy, instead of letting you take care of your enemy's daughter so meticulously as you are now.”
Carter smiled irreverently. His tone sounded extremely ironic.
“Since you won't do it, I'll do it myself.”
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife chapter 2018
His gaze darkened, and he turned back to the rented car.
Approximately twenty minutes later, Carter saw Fabian carrying Lillian back into the car.
His car was parked behind Fabian's car so that he could easily observe Fabian and Lillian's movements.
After a while, Fabian started the car and Carter followed behind.
He saw Fabian leading Lillian into a toy store that sold Barbie dolls. They then went to sit at a dessert shop for a while before they finally went back to the villa.
After a few days of observation, Carter realized that this was the sequence in which Fabian took Lillian out of the house every day.
As for Carter, he had completely figured the sequence out.
What Shirley could not figure out was what Carter was doing when he went out at such a time every day.
Intentional or otherwise, she had probed and asked him before. However, Carter, who evidently did not want to tell her, would muddle over the topic or change the subject each time she asked.
The more Carter behaved like this, the more Shirley felt that there was a problem.
This afternoon, Carter went out again.
Shirley, seated in the wheelchair, thought about it for ten seconds before deciding to follow him.
She had no idea when Carter rented a car. He then drove away quickly.
Shirley had limited mobility, but fortunately, taxis for the disabled could be called here.
However, once Shirley had gotten on her ride, Carter's car was nowhere to be seen.
She could only ask the driver to drive around aimlessly. She said that she was from overseas and she did not know what was fun in F Country.
Additionally, she said that she just wanted to go around and get some fresh air.
The driver expressed his understanding and drove Shirley around. As they drove around aimlessly, they came to the busiest and biggest park in the city.
Shirley was surprised to find Carter's car here. Through the window, she confirmed that the man sitting in the driver's seat was Carter.
'Why is he here?'
Shirley was confused, and she asked the driver to stop the car.
“Sir, I seem to have spotted an acquaintance, but I am not very sure. Can you follow the car in front of you for me later?”
Shirley pointed to Carter's car and requested. Without thinking much about it, the driver agreed.
“Thank you, ” Shirley thanked the driver. As she finished speaking, she saw that the car parked in front of Carter's was driving away, and in the next second, Carter also started his car.
Shirley was smart, and she almost immediately saw that Carter was following the silver car in front.
Shirley was curious about who the person in that car was and why would Carter follow them every day for so many days. However, she could not think of an answer even after racking her brain.
Before long, Fabian and Carter's cars stopped one after another.
Shirley lowered the window and saw Fabian getting out of the car holding Lillian.
She did not know Fabian and Lillian, but she felt that the little girl Fabian was holding in his arms looked a little familiar.
'Who are they? Why is Carter stalking them?'
Shirley was curious, and at this moment, she saw Carter getting out of the car.
Dressed entirely in black, Carter exuded a mysterious, cold aura.
Shirley watched Carter entering the dessert shop. From this second on, Shirley felt very anxious as if she was sitting on pins and needles.
She kept feeling like something was about to happen. As she expected, the moment she was feeling worried, Carter ran out of the dessert shop.
What shocked Shirley the most was that the little girl Shirley had seen a moment ago was in Carter's arms—and the girl was Lillian!
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife chapter 2019
Dumbfounded, Shirley stared at what Carter was doing in disbelief.
'Had he been following that car just to abduct that little girl?
'But who was that little girl?'
During her moment of shock, Shirley saw Carter quickly starting the car to drive away.
At that moment, Fabian quickly ran out of the dessert shop.
He looked anxious, and his eyes were filled with worry.
Shirley did not know Fabian, but she could see how uneasy and sick with worry he was at the moment.
“Driver, please start driving, ” Shirley told the driver who was looking at his phone.
The driver looked out of the window and noticed the car just now was gone.
“Miss, where would you like to go now? Are we going to follow the car just now?” the driver asked politely.
Shirley shook his head. “No need. I saw the person in the car and he's not my friend. I made a mistake. Please take me back to where you picked me up. ”
“Alright, ” the driver answered and started the car quickly.
Shirley was very distracted on the way back. 'So, was this why Carter came to F Country?
'Who was that little girl? She looked a little familiar.
'Why was Carter taking action against such a young child?'
On the other side, after putting Lillian in the car, Carter drove back to the apartment.
He forcefully carried Lillian who refused to get out of the car and then quickly walked upstairs.
What pleased Carter was that Lillian, being mute, would not make a lot of noise to alert the neighbors.
However, when Carter went back to the apartment, he did not see Shirley anywhere.
He looked all over the apartment, yet he still did not see her.
Where would Shirley go in her state?
Carter started to feel worried. He placed Lillian on a random spot on the ground and quickly turned around to walk to the door, intending to go downstairs to look for Shirley nearby.
However, coincidentally, the moment he opened the door, he saw Shirley who was about to open the door to enter.
Not noticing Shirley's expression at this moment, Carter walked over and immediately pushed Shirley back into the house.
“Where did you go? Why are you running around when you're in this state? What will you do if something happens to you?”
Carter's questions came one after another, but one could hear his concern for Shirley in his voice.
Shirley did not answer Carter. Her eyes were locked on Lillian who was silently standing next to the coffee table.
“Shirley, I'm talking to...”
“Who is that little girl? Why did you abduct her?” Shirley asked bluntly.
Carter, who had not expected Shirley to ask that, was momentarily stunned. At a loss, he glanced at Lillian.
The child was standing under the window where the warm sunlight, like a layer of golden veil, landed on her flawless and supple doll-like face.
Lillian blinked her clear, pristine, big eyes and then slowly walked toward Shirley.
She looked at Shirley, who was in the wheelchair, and then her little eyebrows furrowed, her gaze seemingly downcast.
The little girl raised her hand and looked at Shirley carefully, then she pointed in the direction of the door.
Shirley immediately understood, but she was also looking at Lillian in disbelief.
'This little girl can't speak?'
Married by Mistake: Mr. Whitman's Sinner Wife chapter 2020
'Or is she afraid to talk when she sees strangers?'
She thought in her heart. Looking at Lillian's face again, she seemed to see the shadows of Madeline and Jeremy from her facial features and eyes.
Shirley was taken aback. Was this Jeremy and Madeline's child?
As Shirley wondered about this, Carter slammed the door shut.
He obviously would not let Lillian go.
“ Is this Jeremy and Eveline's daughter?” Shirley voiced the doubt in her heart.
Carter paused when he heard the words. He said nothing, answering Shirley's question with silence.
Shirley also instantly understood Carter's silence. She looked at Lillian and then she chuckled.
“So, this was why you insisted on coming to F Country.”
Upon hearing Shirley's words, Carter denied without hesitation.
No.
“No?” Shirley chuckled again. “Carter, you still want to have your revenge and take action against Jeremy, don't you? You always think that Jeremy and Eveline are the reason you're like this today, don't you?”
The moment she finished talking, Carter suddenly turned to face Shirley. His expression and eyes sank suddenly.
“Even if they had nothing to do with where I've fallen to today, but what about our child?
“Didn't Jeremy kill that child?
“Shirley, what made you the way you are now? Where is your fighting spirit? You weren't like this back then! ”
“Back then, I was forced by you to be what you wanted, now I just want to be myself.”
“Be yourself?” Carter laughed, but his eyes were red. “You would help Jeremy and Eveline to ruin your beloved man's future and even be an accomplice in killing our own flesh and blood?”
Carter asked sternly. Suddenly, he grasped the armrests on both sides of the wheelchair with both hands tightly and put his gloomy and icy face close to Shirley's eyes.
“Listen, Shirley, I will never forgive Jeremy. Whatever happened to my child, I want the same for his child. His child will be buried next to mine! ”
Upon hearing this, a look of loss flashed across Shirley's eyes.
“What do you want to do to this kid? Carter, even if you hate Jeremy and Eveline, you can't hurt such a small child.”
“I can't hurt such a small child? What about our child? Didn't you also hurt my child?”
Carter asked back. He seemed a little obsessed at this point.
Shirley knew she could not change Carter's mind, but when she looked at Lillian, she knew she could not allow this innocent child to be hurt.
Carter seemed to be able to tell that Shirley was very concerned about Lillian.
“You're afraid that I'll hurt this little thing, huh?” Carter peered at Lillian.
“If you're afraid, you need to listen to me from now on. Then, I'll promise to let this little thing stay alive safely.”
Carter stated his request in a threatening tone.
Shirley looked at the handsome face in front of him, and suddenly, she felt that this man was abnormally foreign.
Was he still that cultured, refined, cold, and noble young man?
No, he had not been that since a very long time ago.
Presently, to him, his heart no longer had anything of beauty. There was only hatred.
Although Lillian was very young and could not speak, she was smart. She knew she could not leave now. She did not make a fuss, but she reached her little hand into her pocket to take out a card instead. She then handed the card to Shirley gently.
