Upon hearing Madeline’s answer, Fabian felt like he was dreaming.

How was that possible? Jeremy and Madeline were not opposed to it?

Upon seeing the dazed Fabian, disbelief on his face, Shirley, as a bystander, also spoke up.

“Actually, even an outsider like me can see clearly that you really care about Lily, Mr. Johnson. With you taking care of her, I think any parent would be at ease.”

After listening to what Madeline said, Shirley felt that it made sense. She nodded and looked at the stack of researched data in front of her.

“Eveline, don’t worry, I’ll definitely not let your daughter endure the pain and torture that she shouldn’t endure. Give me a little more time. I will work it out as soon as possible.” Shirley made a firm promise.

“I trust that you will because you want to rush back to St. Piaf to see Carter, don’t you?” Madeline smiled as she voiced what was in Shirley’s heart.

Shirley’s hand that had been raised to take the paper froze, and then she smiled without denying it.

“Yes, I have to go back. If he is guilty, I’m guilty too.”

“What happened with Ryan? What’s the relationship between Carter and Ryan?”

Madeline and Jeremy were snuggling together sweetly when they suddenly saw Fabian hurrying up the stairs. When he saw Madeline and Jeremy looking sweet and affectionate, Fabian coughed a little embarrassedly. “It’s fine. The servant told me that Lily woke up and asked me to go to put her to sleep. You guys continue.”

Fabian said as he walked quickly to Lillian‘s room.

Madeline and Jeremy followed Fabian to the door of Lillian’s room. Before they walked in, the couple heard Fabian’s gentle and coaxing voice coming from the room.

“What’s wrong, Lily? You can’t sleep?”

Fabian asked very gently, and Madeline and Jeremy saw their baby princess nodding slightly. Fabian was very patient, and he took a storybook from the shelf on the side. “Well then, Lily, be a good girl and close your eyes. I will tell you a story.”

Lillian liked Fabian’s suggestion. The little girl obediently nodded her head and closed her eyes.

Fabian then sat down on the side of the bed and softly read from the storybook and patiently…

As they watched this scene, Madeline and Jeremy felt warmth in their hearts. They did not continue to peek, and the two turned back to the guest room.

Toward the end, Jeremy did not know why he would say such comforting words. However, in his heart, he believed that his little princess would turn her misfortune into a blessing.

Of course, Madeline prayed for the same. She nestled in Jeremy’s arms and nodded gently in agreement.

“Lily has overcome many difficulties, so I am sure she will this time too.”

“Sleep well, then. I know you haven’t been sleeping well for the past few days because you were worried about me.”

“You’re so stupid, Jeremy.” Madeline opened her slightly misty eyes and stared at the man with a gentle expression on his face. “You were so stupid that you voluntarily jumped into Carter’s little trap. Knowing that Madeline was worried about him, Jeremy promised without hesitation, “I promise.”

After getting this answer, Madeline was obviously relieved. A while later, she fell asleep peacefully in Jeremy’s arms.

Jeremy looked at Madeline tenderly for a long time before he bowed his head and kissed her between her brows. He then carefully withdrew his hand and let Madeline lie down comfortably.

Jeremy then got up and walked toward the door. At the same time, Fabian came out of Lillian’s room.

After seeing Jeremy, Fabian walked toward him very calmly and magnanimously.

“You probably have something to say to me, right?” Fabian asked directly.

Jeremy smiled faintly. “Let’s talk downstairs.”

As he spoke, he turned around and Fabian followed him afterward.

It was already very late, so Fabian asked the servant to make black tea and some snacks, leaving him and Jeremy in the living room. Fabian knew that Jeremy had something to say to him, but Jeremy had been drinking tea at the moment, and he did not seem to want to speak. Eventually, Fabian could not stand it anymore.

“Jeremy, you don’t actually want Lily to stay with me, right?”

“By the way, I received a courier two days ago and it’s for you, Jeremy.” Karen said, turned around, and went to take it for Jeremy.

Jeremy took a look and it was a document, but the sender was a name he had never heard before.

Seeing that Madeline had gone upstairs, Jeremy did not bother with the delivery. After returning to the room with Madeline, he took a shower and fell asleep. Jeremy and Madeline only opened their eyes lazily until Karen came to call them to eat dinner at nightfall.

After going downstairs, Madeline saw that her parents were also there.
