Married by Mistake – Chapter 2131

Hannah’s eyes suddenly became sharp, and they were full of aggression. It was as if she had been triggered at the mention of Jeremy.

“It has nothing to do with that, so don’t overthink.”

Madeline went back to the main topic. “Hannah, do you really not know who I am?”

When Madeline asked that, she carefully observed the changes in Hannah’s eyes.

However, Hannah did not show the unnatural demeanor or behavior that Madeline thought she would. She was just very confused as she looked at Madeline a little bit incomprehensibly.

“Sis, you’re my elder sister.” Her tone was affirmative, while her eyes looked weak and innocent. “Sis, I only have you now. Please don’t abandon me.”

“Hannah, I really am not…”

Creak.

As Madeline was explaining, the door of the ward was pushed open. Jeremy’s tall and lean body instantly appeared in Madeline’s vision.

“Jeremy?” Madeline widened her eyes in surprise. “Why are you here?”

Jeremy looked at Madeline with a serious face as he strode in.

“Don’t get close to my wife anymore.” Jeremy stopped before speaking the words that were as cold as ice. “Don’t go around pretending to have lost your memory or to be delirious. Even if you’re sick, Linnie and I are not responsible for taking care of you. You’d better behave yourself.”

After Jeremy said that coolly, he grabbed Madeline’s hand and left.

Madeline thought Hannah would chase after them but she did not.

After Jeremy brought Madeline to the car, he began to convince her. He seemed to be such a noble and frigid man, but he kept chattering all the way back to the house.

“Eveline, do you remember my words? Don’t go and see that person again. Did your sixth sense not tell you that this woman is dangerous? She must have a reason for acting like this, do you understand?”

Madeline listened to Jeremy’s earnest advice and nodded seriously.

“Yes, Mr. Whitman, I remember everything you said. Don’t worry, I won’t go and meet her alone again.”

Madeline went along with Jeremy, agreeing to everything very obediently.

Jeremy looked at Madeline’s obedient face and raised his hand to caress her head.

Madeline listened to Jeremy and did not go to see Hannah again. However, she received another call from the hospital saying that Hannah had disappeared without going through the discharge procedures.

Since the nurse had heard Hannah calling Madeline her sister before, the hospital decided to contact Madeline. After Madeline paid Hannah’s hospital and medical expenses, she went home.

As usual, when Jackson was about to finish school, Madeline drove to pick him up.

When Madeline was waiting at the school gate, she found that her son was very popular with the girls.

Married by Mistake – Chapter 2132

Jackson was walking in front. He was surrounded by several cute and pretty little girls. However, Jackson seemed to have inherited Jeremy’s cold temperament. No matter how enthusiastically the girls were when they talked to him, he just ignored them.

As soon as he saw Madeline, he enthusiastically lifted his long legs and quickly ran over. Madeline stretched out her arms to the little guy and picked up the handsome boy who had run in front of her.

However, the little guy seemed to be heavier than before. This showed that the child was slowly growing up. Madeline turned around happily as she carried her son.

“That’s Jackson’s mommy.”

“His mommy is so beautiful, so that’s why Jacky is also so handsome.”

“But he doesn’t play with us.”

“My mommy said that all boys can’t resist it when girls act coquettish. So, from tomorrow onward, let’s all be coquettish to Jacky so that he’ll want to play with us.”

“Okay.”

After listening to this girl’s suggestion, the other little girls responded seriously.

Madeline could not help but smile when she heard the girls’ innocent words. After getting in the car, Madeline asked her son who was sitting in the back. She was pretending to be curious.

“Jack, why don’ t you play with those girls? Don’t you like them?”

“There are only two girls I like the most. One is you, my mommy, and the other is Lily,” Jackson replied without thinking.

Madeline felt that her son’s eloquence was good enough to coax girls.

Coupled with his exquisite appearance, she wondered how many girls would be charmed by him in the future.

“Mommy, don’t you think so?” Jackson asked with big innocent eyes. “None of those girls really want to be my friends. I don‘t want to waste time socializing with them.”

‘Socializing.’

This little guy was using such a word. Madeline could not help feeling that her son knew too much.

“Then, what do you think a true friend is?”

“True friends are those who not only share happiness with you but also share your worries with you.” Jackson did not even think before giving out such an answer.

Madeline did not expect her son to understand such truth at such a young age. She agreed with what her son said, but she did not want Jackson to be too knowledgeable of such things at such a young age.

Children should act like children. They should be naive, innocent, and ignorant. However, Jackson was destined to be different from other kids.

Unbeknownst to them, white snowflakes started falling from the sky and the bleak wind from late winter blew outside the car window.

When they were almost home, Jackson suddenly poked his head out and looked in front of him.

“Look, Mommy, is there a person lying there?”

Madeline looked in the direction Jackson was pointing and indeed, she noticed a person curled up by the flower bed beside the road. She stopped the car, took her coat from the passenger seat, and quickly walked over.

When she walked over, she found that it was a very thin woman. Madeline took a closer look and saw that the figure of this person was slightly familiar.

“Mommy, watch out!”

Married by Mistake – Chapter 2133

Suddenly, she heard her son’s voice behind her. Madeline stopped abruptly as she was approaching the flower bed.

Jackson hurried to Madeline’s side and grabbed Madeline’s hand.

“Mommy, it’s the evil woman.” Jackson could see Hannah’s face clearly and remembered that she was the evil woman who threatened Madeline with a fruit knife in the car.

Madeline had also recognized that this woman was Hannah now.

Hannah escaped from the hospital and actually came to Old Whitman Manor. Madeline figured that Hannah was here to find her. She did not want to care about Hannah anymore, but it was winter and it was still snowing at the moment. If Hannah continued to lie beside the flower bed, she would definitely catch a cold. She might even freeze to death.

“Mom, leave her alone. I think this woman will suddenly attack you like last time.” Jackson reminded Madeline and took her hand tightly.

“I know. I’ll be very careful,” Madeline said and put her coat over Hannah’s body. “I’ll not waste my time with her. I’ll ask the others to come and tell her to leave.”

“Okay.” Jackson nodded his head in satisfaction.

Although the teacher taught them to help people in need, this evil woman did not look like someone who really needed help.

After Madeline brought Jackson into the car, she drove the car into the parking garage of the old manor. Then, she told the servants about Hannah and asked them to tell her to leave. Whether she was acting or not, she should at least get up from the snow.

When she saw the servants rushing out, Madeline took her son‘s hand and returned to the house.

Just now, Karen saw what had happened outside from the window. When she saw Madeline walking in, she curiously asked about it. After she found out what was happening, Karen’s face fell instantly.

“This woman is so annoying. There must be something wrong with her. Eveline, don’t get into contact with that woman anymore,” Karen urged her out of kindness.

Madeline smiled and lifted her hand to caress Jackson’s little head as he sat beside her.

“Our Jack also told me to be careful. Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll be careful. Plus, I also think that it’s a little strange.”

Karen murmured to herself and turned to put Little Pudding, who had just learned how to walk, on the sofa. Then, she started smiling and playing with her grandson.

Soon after, a servant came to report that they had chased Hannah away.

When Jeremy got off work, Karen immediately told him what had happened. After she finished reporting it to him, she also told him what she thought was going on.

“Jeremy, that woman is very problematic. You have to keep an eye on Eveline. I keep feeling that she’s targeting Eveline.”

When Jeremy heard that, he took everything to heart. Of course, he also thought that Hannah still had ulterior motives. Her target had never changed and it was always Madeline.

After what had happened on the rooftop that day, Hannah never felt remorseful. She still despised Madeline.

One week passed in the blink of an eye.

During this one week, Hannah never showed up anymore. When Madeline thought it was finally peaceful again, Hannah appeared. This time, she appeared outside the entrance of Whitman Corporation.

It was snowing heavily outside, and Hannah was wearing only thin clothes as she hugged herself. She did not say a word as she waited at the door.

At this moment, Jeremy drove over to pick Madeline up to go to lunch. When he drove the car to the entrance, he spotted Hannah.

Married by Mistake – Chapter 2134

Hannah was freezing. She squatted in front of the entrance and curled into a ball as she shivered.

When Jeremy was about to get out of the car, he spotted Madeline walking out. Madeline saw Jeremy’s car immediately. When she was walking over, she saw Hannah squatting by the entrance from the corners of her eyes.

Hannah was here again. She was like a ghost that was always lingering around her.

Madeline had already felt that something was not right when Hannah kept appearing in front of her so frequently. When she was about to ignore Hannah and ask the security guard from the building to deal with her, Jeremy got out of the car and walked toward her.

She thought Jeremy was walking toward her but when he came over, he grabbed her hand and led her in front of Hannah.

Hannah’s face was now red from the cold. She was leaning against the glass wall as she drifted in and out of consciousness.

“Linnie, she looks like she has caught a cold. Let’s send her to the hospital.” When Jeremy proposed this, Madeline was surprised.

Then, Madeline heard Jeremy sigh.

“I’ve gone to the hospital to ask about her condition. The doctor said she might have been triggered by external factors, so that’s why her mental state is a little unstable now. That’s also why she thinks that you’re her elder sister whom she can trust and want to rely on the most. If that’s the case, we’ll help her in any way we can.”

Jeremy finished saying that solemnly.

Madeline looked at the man’s serious gaze thoughtfully. He did not look like he was joking.

“Linnie, help her into the car later. I’ll drive the car over.” After Jeremy said that, he turned to go to the car.

Madeline blinked her beautiful eyes and looked at Jeremy’s carefree back. Then, she bent down to slowly help Hannah up.

“Hannah, you should still be able to hear me, right? We’ll take you to the hospital now. Get into the car with me.”

After Madeline said that, she could vaguely hear Hannah call out, “Sis…” Then, she felt Hannah grab her wrist tightly.

Jeremy said he was sending Hannah to the hospital but Madeline realized that this was not the way to the hospital.

After driving for some distance, Hannah woke up seemingly groggily. Perhaps the heater in the car had allowed her to slowly regain her consciousness.

“Sis,” Hannah looked at Madeline and called out weakly.

Madeline smiled. “You’re awake. How do you feel?”

“Sis, I’m so cold…” As Hannah said that, she inched closer to Madeline. She even grabbed Madeline’s arm intimately.

Jeremy saw what Hannah was doing from the rearview mirror. Then, he said, “I’ve looked at your medical records in the hospital. The doctor said you’re indeed a little delirious. I’m actually partly responsible for the way you are now. Since you’re so desperate to be around me and my wife, then you can come back with us temporarily.”

Jeremy’s answer shocked Madeline once again.

She lifted her eyes and unintentionally looked into those deep and wise eyes in the rearview mirror. There were no words exchanged between them but Madeline seemed to get the message Jeremy was trying to convey.

“Your wife?” Hannah suddenly lifted her astonished eyes to look at Jeremy who was driving. “Did you say that my sister is your wife?”

Jeremy nodded cooperatively, “That’s right. Your sister is married to me. She’s my wife.”

After Hannah heard that, her eyes looked a little disappointed. “Sis, you’re already married. Why didn’t you tell me when you got married?” After she said that, she peered at Jeremy like she was disgusted by him.“

Sis, this man is handsome, but he doesn’t look like a nice guy. You have to be careful.”

Married by Mistake – Chapter 2135

Hannah‘s reminder sounded abnormally serious and full of concern. Madeline subconsciously looked at the charming eyes in the rearview mirror. Then, she said with a smile, “This is your brother-in-law. He’s very considerate and caring toward me. He won’t bully me.”

“You can never know what he’s thinking. Sis, don’t be fooled by a person’s appearance,” Hannah reminded her again solemnly.

Madeline responded with a smile, “I know, I’ll be careful.”

Upon hearing Madeline‘s answer, Hannah seemed very satisfied and happy. She squeezed Madeline’s hand and leaned her head on Madeline’s shoulder happily. “Sis…”

When she heard Hannah calling her ‘Sis’, Madeline had mixed feelings.

Not long after, the car stopped in the parking garage of Old Whitman Manor. Jeremy got out of the car first and helped Madeline open the door.

Madeline was about to get out of the car when Hannah looked at Jeremy in vigilance.

“Sis, walk with me. I don’t like this man,” Hannah said as she opened the car door on her side. She insisted on pulling Madeline out of the car with her.

Madeline glanced at Jeremy and got out of the car without saying anything.

It was lunch time. Karen was carrying her grandson and was about to feed him when suddenly she saw Madeline and Jeremy coming back home. Therefore, she walked over curiously. “Why are you both back? Are you free this afternoon?”

As Karen was asking them, she suddenly saw Hannah who was next to Madeline. “Why is this woman here too? Why did you let her come in? What’s going on?”

Karen asked in confusion before summoning a servant to take the little boy in her arms away.

“Eveline, did you two bring her in?”

“I asked Eveline to bring her sister back home,” Jeremy parted her lips and explained.

Karen was stunned when she heard that. “W-What? Sister?”

“That’s right.” Jeremy’s tone was affirmative. Then, he ordered the servant, “Go prepare a guest room. She’ll stay here for now.”

“…”

After Karen was stunned for a few seconds, she quickly stopped the servant. “No! How can you let this woman stay in our house? Jeremy, are you insane?”

Karen did not understand why Jeremy was doing this. She walked in front of Madeline and did not avoid Hannah at all.

“Eveline, have you become insane like Jeremy too? Why did you bring this person home?”

Madeline looked at Hannah, whose expression had changed. She said with a smile. “Mom, she’s so sick she doesn’t know who she is. Plus, she doesn’t have a place to go, so let’s just allow her to stay here for the time being.”

“I’m not sick. I’m not!” Hannah suddenly yelled and explained herself, “Sis, I’m not sick.”

“Yeah, you’re not. You just need to rest,” Madeline answered.

Karen peered at Hannah in disgust. “If you’re not sick, you should leave. Why are you clinging to Eveline? She’s not your sister.”

“What nonsense are you talking about?” Hannah’s emotions were immediately heightened after she was triggered by what Karen said. “None of you are good people! Sis, I don’t want to stay here! I want to go home!”

Married by Mistake – Chapter 2136

“I’ll take you home, but not now,” Madeline said and looked at Jeremy. Then, she said, “Go to the room with me and rest for a while.”

Hannah seemed to want to say something, but when she saw that Madeline had turned around, she hurriedly followed her.

“What a lunatic!” Karen gazed at Hannah’s back. After she saw that Hannah had followed Madeline upstairs, Karen looked back and asked Jeremy with a calm expression on her face.

“Jeremy, what the hell are you two doing?”

Jeremy walked to the living room with a slight smile. He carried his son who was sitting on the sofa into his arms to play with him for a while, then he finally said, “We’re putting on an act but it’s not only me and Eveline who are acting.”

Karen understood what Jeremy meant. “You mean that woman is also acting?”

“Uh-huh.” Jeremy smiled. He gently pinched the little boy’s cheek with his fingers. “She keeps clinging to us and pestering us. I’m sure she still wants to harm Linnie, but she’s just looking for opportunities.”

“And you’re still letting her live here? Wouldn’t Eveline be in even more danger then?”

“Eveline will only be in more danger if she remains in a passive state,” Jeremy said, raising his fierce but wise thin eyes. “The best way is to turn passive into active.”

With that said, Karen completely understood.

However, she was still worried. “Well, although it seems that you’re the ones taking the initiative, I still feel that it’s not safe. What if this dangerous person harms Pudding and Jack now that you’re keeping her in our home?”

“Since I brought her back, I’ll definitely not let her have another chance to hurt anyone around me.” Jeremy was confident. He smiled at his son kindly and promised, “Pudding, don’t worry. I’ll definitely protect your mommy and myself. I’ll also protect you and your brother.”

Little Pudding did not understand what Jeremy was talking about, so he just grinned and smiled at Jeremy unconsciously. However, from Jeremy’s point of view, the little boy was responding to him.

Upstairs.

Madeline took Hannah to the room that had been tidied up and prepared some brand new daily necessities for Hannah.

“You should get a good night’s sleep. Next time, don’t lie down and sleep outside in the winter. You’ll freeze yourself to death,” Madeline told Hannah kindly. Hannah seemed to hear what Madeline said and nodded meekly, but suddenly, she reminded Madeline with a serious expression.

“Sis, is it really okay for me to live here? Your husband and your mother-in-law don’t look like good people, especially your husband. I always get the feeling that this man isn’t sincere to you.”

“You can live here with peace of mind. As for my husband and me, you don’t have to worry about us,” Madeline said calmly and patted Hannah’s shoulder lightly. “You should rest. I have to go to work.”

“Are you going back to work at the company?” Hannah asked as she chased after Madeline.

Madeline looked back and smiled. “I’m worried about you, so I’ll draw my design drafts at home today. You can call me if you need anything.”

After she heard that, Hannah seemed to be taken aback. Then, she grinned happily.

“Sis, you’re so good to me.”

Madeline smiled softly. She did not say anything before she turned around and left the room. While she was at it, she closed the door too.

She went back to the living room and saw Jeremy playing with their son. Then, she walked over to him. “Jeremy, I think she’s asleep now.”

Jeremy smiled understandingly. “She’s been acting for so long. She slit her wrist and even slept in the snow. After such a struggle, of course, she’ll sleep soundly now that she has a nice bed.”

Madeline walked to Jeremy and sat down next to him. She then let out a sigh, “I thought she regretted what she did on the rooftop that day, but I didn’t think that…”

Married by Mistake – Chapter 2137

When she remembered Hannah’s hesitant and stunned expression when she told her that she was going to stay at home just now, Madeline was sure she was acting. Madeline knew her purpose.

“Linnie, have you ever heard of this story?” Jeremy asked suddenly.

Madeline looked into the man’s eyes curiously. “What story?”

“It’s the story of a frog carrying a scorpion to cross a river.”

When Jeremy said that, Madeline understood immediately. She knew the story, and she knew what Jeremy wanted to express to her.

“Linnie, some people are just like that. It’s hard for them to change. Like a scorpion, she can’t restrain the evil in her heart.” Jeremy looked as if he was educating a child as he spoke earnestly. He did not forget to pick up his youngest son and tap his little nose with his fingers.

“Pudding, did you hear what I said? Let’s be good people. We must not have the intention to harm others, but we must always be guarded against others. Don’t be so trusting of others like your mommy.”

“…”

Madeline furrowed her beautiful eyebrows together. “Jeremy, am I as naive as you say?”

“Are you not?” Jeremy retorted. “You don’t know how naive you were before. Although you’re a little better now, you still go soft very easily.”

“Hmm…”

Madeline was speechless. Sometimes, what Jeremy said was indeed true.

When he saw that the woman next to him looked a little depressed, Jeremy raised his hand and touched Madeline’s head. Then, he parted his lips to praise her, “What can I do if my wife is good-hearted? She’s actually very smart, but sometimes, she can get a little confused. However, it’s fine, because I, her protector, will always stay by her side and protect her.”

After listening to what Jeremy said, Madeline grinned. Her eyes turned into two crescents, and she was amused.

However, Karen looked serious on the side. “Then you’d better keep a close eye on your wife. That woman is staying in our home now. Although you say you want to turn passive to active, you’re all under one roof. You must be careful!”

Madeline nodded solemnly. “Mom is right. Jeremy, we can’t take this lightly.”

“Roger, wifey,” Jeremy promised in a joking tone, but his eyes were very sincere.

Madeline believed that Jeremy would protect her and their children. Of course, she would never let her guard down as well.

Madeline and Jeremy stayed at home for the entire afternoon.

Jeremy took care of the little boy seriously while Madeline concentrated on drawing her design drafts. Around dusk, Madeline went to pick Jackson up.

On the way back, Madeline explained to Jackson about Hannah’s situation. Although the little guy was not even seven years old, he was much more sensible than his peers. He assured Madeline, and at the same time, he reminded her, “Mommy, don’t worry. I’ll cooperate with you and daddy, but you two must also be careful. I think this evil woman will definitely play dirty.”

Madeline agreed with her son and nodded her head ‘obediently’.

“Don’t worry, Jack. Mommy and Daddy will be very careful.”

“Okay!” Jackson felt relieved.

Not long after returning home, the servant almost finished preparing dinner.

Madeline came to the door of Hannah’s room and reached out to knock on the door lightly.

Married by Mistake – Chapter 2138

There was no response after she knocked on the door a few times, so Madeline did not hesitate to push the door open directly.

After entering, she saw Hannah still lying on the bed as if she was still asleep.

Madeline walked to the bed warily. “Hannah…”

She called out but Hannah did not react. She seemed to still be sound asleep.

Madeline did want to continue calling out to Hannah but when she was just about to turn around, Hannah suddenly reached out. “Sis, don’t go.”

Just when Madeline was about to dodge from her, Hannah screamed.

“Sis.” Hannah opened her eyes slowly and smiled at Madeline. “I’ve been waiting for you.”

Madeline also responded with a thought-provoking smile. “You were waiting for me?”

“Yeah.” Hannah nodded. Then, she slowly sat up. “Sis, I had a dream. I dreamed that you kicked me out for your husband. Sis, you won’t kick me out because of that man, right?”

Madeline smiled with interest. “Um… I can’t guarantee the future.”

“Sis?” Hannah’s expression changed dramatically because of Madeline‘s words. Her expression became gloomy instantly. This look of genuine anger made Madeline feel that Hannah really regarded her as her elder sister.

“Okay, don’t overthink it. You should be hungry, right? Let’s go downstairs to have dinner together.” Madeline invited with a calm tone.

“I asked the servant to prepare two changes of clothes for you. You can change first. I’ll wait for you at the door.”

“No.” Hannah refused. “I’m fine with what I’m wearing right now. I am afraid that the money for the clothes is also from that man. I hate that man.”

Hannah said angrily and lifted the blanket. After that, she went into the bathroom to wash her face before walking out of the room. Her temper was still the same as before. She was very hot-tempered and full of confidence.

Madeline quickly went downstairs. Aside from Jeremy and Karen in the dining room, there was no one else. Jeremy had asked their sons to go back to their rooms so that the servants could take care of them.

Hannah looked at the two people sitting in front of her, and her expression was unnatural.

“I don’ t want to eat with them,” Hannah turned to Madeline and said in dissatisfaction.

Jeremy peered at her coldly. “My wife has shown you enough respect by asking you to have dinner with us. This meal wasn’t prepared for you anyway, so it doesn’t matter if you eat it or not.”

“You…” Hannah was flushed with anger after hearing what Jeremy said.

Karen glanced at her indifferently. “There are all kinds of people these days. They pretend to be crazy, go into other people’s homes to eat their food, and start living there. If it were me, I really won’t be able to do such an embarrassing thing.”

“What do you mean? Did you just say I’m pretending to be crazy?” Hannah pointed at Karen and asked. Then, she directly sat down beside Karen. “This is my sister’s house so I can do whatever I want. Even if you’re my sister’s mother-in-law, you don’t have the right to interfere with my affairs.”

After she said that, she even tried to snatch Karen’s food that she was about to eat.

Karen looked coldly at Hannah. “I’ve added something to the food. If you’re not scared, go ahead.”

Even though she knew Karen was just scaring her, Hannah did not have the guts to continue eating Karen’s food.

After she placed the bowl down, she looked at the servants around them. She was hinting for the servants to bring her a set of cutleries.

However, the servants ignored Hannah’s hints.

“Go get them yourself. If you’re staying here, you have to do everything on your own.” Karen set a rule for Hannah sternly. “After you’re done, you should clear the table with them. From now on, you’re a servant here.”

Married by Mistake – Chapter 2139

After Karen said that, Hannah flew into a fit of rage after being stunned for a second.

“What did you say? You want me to be a servant here?”

“Of course,” Karen deliberately said in an arrogant tone. “We’re letting you stay in the guest room because we respect Eveline. Do you want to stay here and eat here for free? You’re able-bodied. Are you not ashamed?”

“…”

Hannah did not know what to say to that. Then, her gaze softened as she looked at Madeline innocently. She asked for help.

“Sis…”

“It’s no use calling out to her. If you want to stay, you should obediently be a servant.” Jeremy interrupted Hannah decisively and coldly, his eyes bursting with unignorable intimidation.

“Our family won’t support people who refuse to work. Even my wife works very hard every day. No one has the privilege of getting anything for free.”

“…”

Facing Jeremy’s breathtaking eyes, Hannah gritted her teeth in secret.

Despite her dissatisfaction, she had no choice but to stand up, walk over to take her own cutleries, then return to her seat to start eating.

Everyone here could see how dissatisfied Hannah was. Even so, she did not dare to say anything despite her anger.

Not long after eating, Jeremy and Madeline went out sweetly with their arms around each other’s shoulders. Karen put down her spoon after taking a few bites and reminded Hannah before leaving the dining room.

“Remember to clean up the table after eating. While you’re at it, tidy up the kitchen too, do you hear me?”

Hannah clenched her fork tightly and lowered her head to continue eating without saying anything.

“I’m talking to you, do you hear me? If it’s not for Eveline keeping you here, I would have driven you out a long time ago,” Karen complained in disgust. Then, she turned around and walked out.

Hannah turned her face and glared at Karen’s back. “I’ll destroy you sooner or later.” She grumbled with a laugh.

After dinner, she quickly cleaned the kitchen and was about to complain to Madeline. However, she was told that Madeline and Jeremy had brought their two sons out for a walk.

Hannah waited in the living room but they still did not come back. Plus, it was almost midnight and there was still no movement at the door. Hannah started to feel that this was strange. However, she only felt that something was wrong and did not feel worried.

At this moment, Karen walked past the stairs of the second floor groggily. ‘When she saw Hannah in the living room, she chuckled.

“Oh no, I’m so forgetful. I forgot to tell you that Jeremy and Eveline will be staying with the in-laws. They won’t be coming back tonight. Go back to sleep. You’ll only have the energy to work tomorrow if you rest well.”

“Huh..?”

When Hannah heard what Karen said, she felt as if she had been fooled by Karen. She clenched her fist, a fire burning in her chest. However, she had nowhere to vent it out.

Montgomery Manor.

The next morning, Madeline carried her youngest son and took her eldest son to the winter garden.

Married by Mistake – Chapter 2140

The rays of dawn were not as strong. They gently fell on their bodies. It felt very nice to have a thin layer of warmth enveloping them.

Soon, Jeremy brought breakfast over. He enjoyed this warm and leisurely breakfast with his wife and sons. “It feels better without an eyesore around.” Jeremy sipped his coffee and sighed emotionally.

“I wonder how long she can keep up the act. I hope she knows when to stop. I really don’t want to keep dealing with her.”

Madeline smiled. She was supporting her youngest son on her lap and feeding him milk gently.

Jackson felt unexpectedly jealous when he saw this scene. “Mommy, I want a hug too. You haven’t hugged me in a long time.”

Jackson blinked his big eyes. He looked very aggrieved as he tried to compete for his mother’s love with his brother.

Madeline knew that when Jackson was as young as Pudding, she did not manage to take good care of him and love him as much. Of course, she would be more than happy to hug Jackson now that he was asking for it.

“Jack, please wait for a while. I’ll hug you until you don’t want to be hugged anymore after Pudding is done eating.”

“Okay, I’m willing to wait for you. I’m willing to wait no matter how long it’ll take.” Jackson smiled innocently, his eyes filled with the image of his mother whom he loved and admired the most

However, this sentence sounded strange to Jeremy.

“Cough, cough.” He coughed a little deliberately and reached out his hand to pull Jackson into his lap. “Your mommy has no time to hug you now, so let me hug you instead.”

“Daddy’s hug doesn’t smell as good as mommy’s.” Jackson did not turn away from it. At this moment, he only wanted to nestle in his mother’s arms and fight with his little brother.

“You have such a sweet mouth, you little thing. I think a lot of girls will be charmed by you in the future.”

“I don’t want other girls. I only like two girls, Mommy and Lily,” Jackson said proudly, his big eyes filled with firmness.

Jeremy was a little impressed with Jackson. He was not good at flirting, but his son’s mouth was so sweet.

Madeline lowered her eyes to look at the little boy in her arms. He had just finished drinking the milk in his bottle with satisfaction. Madeline was about to take Jackson from Jeremy when coincidentally, her phone rang.

When she saw the caller ID, she felt inexplicably remorseful.

She did not hesitate before she picked up the phone. “Ava.”

Jeremy noticed that Madeline’s expression looked a little solemn. When he saw that it was Ava, his worries and doubts were gone in an instant. He held Jackson and was listening to Madeline talk. He looked like he was not eavesdropping but was listening intently.

After a few words, Madeline hung up.

“Was it Ava?” Jeremy asked even though he already knew. “You guys haven’t seen each other in a long time. Why don’t you go meet her? I’ll watch Jack and Pudding.”

Madeline had the same idea, so she handed her son to Jeremy and asked the driver to drive her out.

Madeline and Ava had not seen each other for a long time, but there was not an air of awkwardness between them at all. The two still held hands as before when they met each other. It was as if they were still students. This scene looked so simple, beautiful, and comfortable.

Madeline also felt that true friends did not need to particularly rely on anything to maintain their friendship because it was all in their hearts.

However, even though they were smiling, Madeline kept feeling that Ava seemed to be faking it.

“Ava, have you encountered any troubles? You sounded hesitant to say something on the phone just now.” Madeline did not beat about the bush and asked directly.
