Although there was a small distance, Ava could still hear Mr. Rogers complimenting the design.

“Miss Pine, your style is reflected in your design. I didn’t expect you to be a newbie.” Mr. Rogers praised Laura before praising Bill, “Bill, you’re so discerning. It’s such a blessing for your company to have such an outstanding designer.”

Ava figured Laura might be in the restroom, so she would bring the coffee over to her.

“It’s nothing. I bought coffee for everyone, and I wanted to use this chance to congratulate you for successfully completing the project with Mr. Rogers,” Ava explained.

Laura seemed to smile after she heard that. Then, she walked quickly to her desk to pretend to tidy the things on it. She said, “I see. Thank you for the coffee, Ava. Mr. Branson is asking for me, so I’ll head over now.”

After Laura said that, she grabbed the messy documents and papers on her desk before turning around to enter Bill’s office.

“My fellow colleagues, Laura has just handled an incredible project for the company, so to celebrate this event, the boss will hold a banquet in the largest restaurant in Glendale tonight. “Do you need to quibble over these small differences?” Maisie lifted her beautiful eyebrows and peered at Laura, who looked like she was at a loss. “Bill, why don’t you explain why you’re protecting this thief who stole other people’s designs?”

“You…” Bill did not have anything to say about that.

However, Laura could not stand this anymore. “Maisie! How could you call me a thief? We’re all interior designers, and it’s common to occasionally have similar designs. You’re making something out of nothing. You’re slandering my reputation in front of everyone in the department. I want you to apologize to me right now. If you don’t, I’ll sue you for defamation.”

“Alright, do it then. Sue me for defamation and I’ll sue you for plagiarism. We’ll see who gets charged then.” Maisie was not scared at all. Her strong confidence caused Laura to grit her teeth.

When Ava saw that Laura had nothing more to say and how she was holding herself back, Ava said calmly, “If you don’t want to make a huge fuss out of this, get the design back from Mr. Rogers and let me handle this project once again. I don’t need your apology but you have to apologize to Maisie.”

When Laura heard this, she scoffed as if she was amused.

“Ava, do you really think I plagiarized your design? It’s common to have the same ideas. It’s something normal in the design industry. If you think I plagiarized your work, I can also say that you plagiarized the work of others!”

“If you think I plagiarized someone else’s work, please show us the proof just like how I showed the proof that you plagiarized my work.”

“You…” Laura suddenly had nothing to say.

Maisie was grinning happily at one side. “Ava, I don’t need them to apologize to me either. These people are so hypocritical. I don’t want to eat with them. Let’s go somewhere else for supper.”

After she said that, Maisie grabbed the female colleague who advised her just now. She did not say anything to Mr. Lowe before she left.

“F*ck! I finally found a chance to get rid of Ava and take her position. I didn’t expect Maisie to barge in and ruin this whole thing!” Laura complained while feeling extremely pissed.

Bill quickly shushed her and closed the door of the private room.

“My queen, please, you should be careful when you speak. We can’t offend Maisie!”

“What do you mean? She’s just a fresh graduate, so why should you be scared of her? You couldn’t even speak after she called you out.” Laura rolled her eyes while feeling pissed.

Bill reached out and placed a hand on Laura’s shoulder to try to comfort her. However, Laura pushed Bill’s hand away in disgust. Bill was not mad. He reached out to hold Laura again. However, Laura did not avoid him this time.

“Tell me, who is Maisie? Why are you so scared of her?”

“My queen, couldn’t you tell? Mr. Lowe kept siding with her just now and helping her. Otherwise, how would we have lost?”

When Laura heard Bill say that, she rolled her beautiful eyes and asked in disbelief.

“Do you mean Maisie is having an affair with Mr. Lowe?”

“I’m sure of it!” Bill said in certainty, “Baby, if you want to continue staying in this company, you should go and admit your mistakes with me tomorrow. Otherwise, both of us will be fired. If we’re fired, how will I have money to buy you bags and jewelry?”

Laura did not want to apologize to Ava and Maisie. However, she knew she had to compromise for the money. Plus, Maisie was in a relationship with the boss, so she could not offend her.

Even so, when she looked at her amazing body, she could not understand why a young and exceptional man like Mr. Lowe would be into a little girl like Maisie who looked as if she had not grown up yet.

The next day, Bill waited at the door of the president’s office early in the morning. When Mr. Lowe arrived, he brought Laura into his office to explain and apologize. He insisted it was just a mistake and promised it would not happen again.

However, Mr. Lowe was straightforward. He said he had zero tolerance for people who plagiarized other people’s work, so Laura was fired on the spot.

On the other hand, since Bill had been working in the company for so many years, he was given another chance.

Of course, Laura was not happy to be fired like this. She did not apologize to Ava and Maisie. Instead, when she was packing her things in the office, she threatened Ava and Maisie.

Maisie mischievously made a face at Laura. “I’ll be waiting, then. Remember to come back and make a fuss.”

Ava spotted this but she did not think much about it. However, after last night, Ava felt that there was something off with the atmosphere in the company the moment she stepped into the office.

Since it was not working hours yet, Ava went downstairs to buy some coffee. When she entered the elevator, she heard discussions from familiar voices.

“I didn’t expect Maisie to be in that sort of relationship with Mr. Lowe. No wonder Mr. Lowe kept siding with Maisie last night.”
