Ch. 1206..1210
Chapter 1206 The moment the clock struck ten, Sherry strutted off without a care in the world. She barely cared to turn back and look at John. As soon as she stepped out into the courtyard, John stepped into the living room as well.
The lens of his glasses concealed his look underneath. His face was basked underneath the moonlight, and there was not a trace of emotion on his expression.
He continued heading into the courtyard.
That was when he suddenly felt a pair of arms wrapping around him from behind.
“John, are you leaving already?” It was Shannon. She asked him in a warm voice as she pressed herself against his back.
John frowned. He promptly removed her arms before he turned around to face her. He put a hand out and patted her head with a mechanical smile. “Yeah, there‘s someth ing urgent | need to deal with, so | probably won't be back for a few days.”
Shannon frowned. “Are you going on a business trip again?” “Yeah.”
Shannon expressed sadly while her eyes slightly reddened. “John, it's been two months since we got married, and we have neve r slept together even once.”
“It's my fault for neglecting you. I've been busy.” John brushed her cheeks and apologized softly, “When | come back, | will make it up to you.”
Shannon‘s eyes glowed up upon hearing this. She zipped her lips into a strained smile. “Alright, I'll wait for you to come back.” “Alright.” He smiled, then withdrew his hand and turned to walk outside.
Shannon hurriedly followed after him. They walked out of the courtyard together, and she watched as he got into the car and drove off.
Her expression immediately darkened after. Was that the real reason why he did not sleep with her all this time?
She thought about the voice she heard inside the study just now and found herself balling her hands into fists without realizing it. She knew that as long as Sherry was around, John would never divert his attention away from her!
The next morning, Sherry went to John's courtyard the
first thing after she had breakfast. Upon noticing that he was nowhere to be seen, she asked Celine if John had gone to work, bu t Celine ignored her. Shannon was sitting on the sofa with an audacious air around her. She could hardly bother to spare a look a t Sherry.
Sherry turned around and looked for Queenie.
It was only after Queenie called John that Sherry was finally informed that he had gone on a business trip and would not be back for a few days.
Without a second thought, Sherry went to spend her days at Queenie's.
Apart from when she had to head back to the staff quarters to sleep at night, she spent every waking hour of the day eating, drin king, and playing at Queenie's.
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
It was afternoon, and Sherry had just woken up on Queenie‘s comfy couch. She reckoned that she must have had too much to eat. She could still feel her stomach bulging as she woke up.
She stretched lazily and headed outside, planning to go for a walk to aid her digestion.
As soon as she walked out of Queenie’s courtyard, she saw Shannon heading into the shuttle bus. She seemed
rather anxious as if she was excitedly waiting to see someone.
Sherry eyed her suspiciously.
Shannon noticed Sherry staring at her as well. Something flickered in her eyes before she turned away immediately, so all that St Shortly after that, the shuttle bus revved its engine and drove off.
That was when Queenie’s voice suddenly came from behind. “Sherry, what are you doing standing around here? The oranges in
Sherry withdrew her gaze from Shannon and turned to Queenie. “I'm coming.”
Chapter 1207
Sherry figured that she had nothing important to do anyway and might as well head to the garden with them and snack on some oranges.
Meanwhile, Shannon arrived at the entrance and promptly got into a car, then drove off.
After about half an hour, she stopped outside a cafe in a remote part of town. She put on a hat and sunglasses before stepping o ut of the car, then she trotted with a sense of urgency.
The cafe was dimly lit. She scanned the cafe as she stepped inside and quickly noticed Mason who had been waiting for her.
She hurried over to him and sat opposite him before removing her sunglasses and greeting him with a friendly smile, “Mason, ho w long have you been here? | didn't keep you waiting for too long, did |?”
“| only just got here,” Mason answered candidly.
Shannon eyed him eagerly and whispered carefully, “Do you have the money?” Mason looked at her intently. “I have it.” Shannon was floored.
“Eight hundred million! How did you get it all together?” she expressed incredulously.
She knew that the Browns were more or less on the same level as her family, and it was unlikely that they would have this much money at their disposal. How did he get so much money in such a short time?
“Well.” Mason was not interested in beating around the bush and went straight to the point, “Can you help me sneak into the hou se? I'll hand over this eight hundred million to Sherry myself.”
As Shannon‘s eyes glimmered, she smiled at him. “Sure, but you'll need to give me some time to come up with a solution.” “How long do you need?” He demanded.
Shannon was a little bothered by how pushy Mason was being. She considered it for a moment before deciding,” Two days. Give me two days.”
“Okay, | have something to attend to, so I'll be leaving first.” He prepared to get up as soon as he said this.
Shannon immediately blurted out before he had time to go, “Wait, can’t you tell me where you got all this money from?” Mason replied, “Don't worry about it. It's all from a
legitimate source.”
{‘Was it your parents?”
“No. Don't worry. | didn't tell them about what happened to Sherry.”
Shannon smiled and quickly clarified, “That's not what | was trying to say. | was only curious how you managed to get so much money in such a short time all by yourself.”
Mason‘s expression suddenly sharpened. “Like | said, you don't have to worry about it.” Certainly, there was no way he could put together such a vast amount of money from his business alone. He had to pawn everything he could and pile it together with all his savings to put together the eight hundred million required.
Shannon no longer pressed him for an answer and smiled sweetly and appreciatively. “Thank you, Mason. Let me thank you on behalf of my sister as well.”
1 “No need to thank me. This is what we owe her.” If Sherry had not asked John to bail them out, they would have gone bankrupt ages ago.
Mason sighed weakly and walked out without another word.
Shannon instantly wiped the smile off her face while she subconsciously clenched her hands tightly. Eight hundred million was not a dismissible amount of money. He must have taken out all his savings and then some.rs ‘Sherry, oh Sherry, what have you done to deserve such a grand sacrifice on his part?!
It did not matter. Now that the money was here, she could finally get rid of Sherry. Who cared about Mason anyway? After this, she would be the only woman in John’s life. She could finally cement her position as Mrs. Stockton. Every single soul in Glanchester would have to treat her with the respect that came with the title, and tt
1 When she thought of this, she smirked cunningly. After Mason drove off, she got up from her seat and left as well.
Little did she know, there was a woman in a hat seated in the section directly opposite where she and Mason sat. She had snuck into the cafe from the back the moment Sherry and Mason entered ar
12
When the suspicious woman heard Sherry talking to Janine on the phone, she promptly reached for a phone and sent a message to Julie who she had registered as‘ Second Madam‘ on her phone.
The contents of the message were as follows: “Madam, you were right all along. She came here to meet Mason. | have my eyes on them...”
Chapter 1208
Chapter 1208 By the time they left the garden, it was already dusk.
Sherry did not even bother to stop when she passed by the courtyard shared by John and Shannon. She barely even glanced inside. Instead, she continued heading back to Queenie’s courtyard.
The ripe oranges they harvested were rich in flavor. Queenie used them to make a variety of desserts such as orange cake, oran ge ice cream, orange juice, and so on.
They had a barbecue before finishing the meal with the desserts they made. It was all unbelievably delicious.
Sherry‘s stomach was filled to the brim yet again. She was so full after her meal that she could not even lift a muscle. She lazed around on the couch with Queenie and watched the boring shows she always watched.
Ding! Queenie's phone suddenly rang.
Queenie picked up the phone and glanced at it lazily, then she suddenly sprang up and exclaimed in shock, “What? Why is my b rother calling me out of nowhere? What's going on?”
As puzzled as she was, she quickly put the phone to her ear.
“Brother, do you need something from me?” she asked without even sparing the time to greet him.
Sherry shot a glance in Queenie’'s direction, feeling intrigued. She did not know what John said to Queenie, but the latter wore an attentive look on her face and quickly answered, “I'm
doing fine. I've been doing well at home the past few days. It's just that Sherry has been clinging to me the entire time and refuse s to leave. She's like a bedbug. She eats and drinks everything | have and even hogs my television.”
Sherry pouted and pretended to not hear her complaints.
John said something through the phone again, to which Queenie replied, “Hmph, she's just a servant. As annoying as she is, she ‘s not doing anything to make my life difficult.”
Sherry rolled her eyes.
Queenie noticed Sherry’s gesture and immediately roared at her, completely forgetting about John who was still on the phone in the spur of a moment, “Sherry, what are you rolling your eyes for? If you do that again, | won't let you come here ever again, so don't test me!’
Sherry smiled and apologized half—heartedly, “I got it, | got it.”
Queenie scoffed and turned her attention back to John on the phone. “Brother, you heard that as well. She doesn't even dare to oppose me these days.”
Sherry was speechless, but she resisted the urge to roll her eyes again.
Queenie hung up shortly after that. After hanging up the phone for a while, she muttered again, ‘Strange, he never calls me, so w hy is he suddenly calling me to ask how I've been doing?”
Sherry continued watching TV and ignored her.
After half an hour, Queenie suddenly turned to Sherry.” Sherry, do you think he's calling me to spy on you?” This provoked a reaction from Sherry who answered,” No, you're overthinking.”
“Then, why did he call me?”
“To check up on you.”
“As if he has time to do something trivial like that.”
Sherry pursed his lips and kept quiet. Queenie glared at her suspiciously, then gave up on speculating and turned her attention back to the television.
Meanwhile, in another city thousands of miles away, in the presidential suite of a five— star hotel, the dignified figure of a man was postured next to a floor-to-ceiling window, looking over the cityscape outside.
He was seated on a couch with a small table next to it. There was a bottle of red wine along with wine glasses on the table.
He looked at the phone in his hand with its screen now. turned off and recalled the last conversation . He found himself smiling wi To think that Sherry had gotten so close with Queenie already... 1
Shortly after that, he put down his phone, picked up the wine glass, and took a sip from it.
Knock knock
John called out, “Come in.”
Peter pushed open the door and entered with two boxes full of branded gifts.
“Sir, | have bought everything you requested the newly released limited edition items from each fashion line.” Peter set everything in front of John so he could study them.
Chapter 1209 Most of them were pieces of jewelry that dazzled underneath the ceiling lights. John swiped a glance across them and noticed a bracelet with its diamonds carved into the shape of tiny wine glasses. It was a unique and intricate design.
Upon noticing John staring at the bracelet, Peter gestured at it and said, “Sir, you have very good taste. This was just released very recently, and there are only ten such pieces in the world. It is the work of Susan Maroon, one of the best designers in the world, and it is also the most
expensive item here.”
A better way to put it would be that the price of everything else here combined was still nowhere close to the price of this particular diamond bracelet.
John grinned. “Pack this one separately from the others.”
Peter hesitated and asked, “Sir, why do you want them packed separately? | thought you were buying all of these for the madam?”
John suddenly shot him a look. “Peter, you seem to be asking a lot of questions lately. Don’t you have any other work on your hands?”
Peter stated for a second and hurriedly replied, “Yes, sir, I'll have it packed right away.”
He rose and prepared to attend to the task instructed. “Wait a minute.” John suddenly stopped him.
Peter stopped and waited for his order.
John took the box containing the diamond bracelet shaped like a wine glass. “I'll just keep it with me. You can take the rest away.”
“Okay.” Peter quickly took the remaining jewelry and left the room with them.
John smiled satisfactorily as he stared at his reflection in the diamond bracelet. That little alcoholic would be greatly pleased to receive such a gift. 1
Ring!
Suddenly, his phone rang.
He glanced at the display which showed the caller ID, then he put the phone to his ear and answered the call,“ Julie, what is it?” Julie spoke into the phone very cautiously, “Brother, there’s something but I’m not sure if it’s fine for me to tell you.”
The look in John’s eyes flickered. “If you have something to say, just say it.”
Julie proceeded to reveal what she knew, “This afternoon,
a friend of mine accidentally bumped into Shannon and Mason in a cafe.”
John was hardly bothered by the news. He was even grinning from ear to ear, clearly intrigued by this. “What, is she sneaking off on a date with him?”
“I don’t think so.” His eyes darkened. “Then, why did they meet up?”
Even on the other side of the phone, Julie could notice the slight dejection in his voice as he asked the question. She frowned and said, “My friend says that she heard Shannon borrowing money from Mason.”
“Why is she borrowing money from Mason?” John asked curiously: “I don’t know, but she’s not asking for chump change. It’s eight hundred million, bro.”
John squinted his eyes.
Julie further supplied, “My friend also overheard Sherry’s name from their conversations. | can’t tell if the money has anything to do with Sherry. Did something happen to the Fowlers lately? | was just worried that Shannon was reluctant about asking you for money and decided to borrow from someone else, so | figured | should inform you about something like this.”
John fell deep into thought and asked, “Are you sure they were talking about eight hundred million? And they
spoke about Sherry as well?”
in
Julie stated, “My friend was sure she heard something about eight hundred million and Sherry’s name came up as well.” “What else did your friend hear?”
“Well, it seems that Mason has got eight hundred million.”
John’s eyes gleamed with ice but he was smiling. “I see, you don’t need to worry about it. Just pretend you don’t know anything. I'll be back by tomorrow and I'll handle it myself.”
“Alright, do you need me to prepare anything for your return tomorrow?” “No need.” John hung up. He was glowering sinisterly, and not a trace of warmth could be seen on his face.
He threw the phone aside and plucked the wineglass shaped diamond bracelet from the box and held it in the center of his palm, clasping his fingers tightly around it.
Crack!
The bracelet snapped , and countless tiny beads of tiny diamond-carved wine glasses clattered to the floor and scattered everywhere.
Chapter 1210 A day later, Sherry figured that John was not coming back anytime soon, so she went to see Queenie first thing in the morning They lazed around doing nothing until noon. Sherry had hogged Queenie’s bright pink reclining chair all for herself.
Just as she was about to take a nap though, Celine suddenly entered. She immediately turned to Sherry and informed her, “Sherry, the madam wants to see you.”
cD
Sherry cocked an eyebrow and asked, “What does she want from me?”
“She says that there’s something important she needs to tell you.”
“Tell her I'm sleepy. I'll see her after | wake up.” Sherry promptly closed her eyes after that.
Celine immediately became furious.
Shortly after that, Queenie and Hailey, who heard the commotion, stepped out of the room to see what was going on.
Celine knew that they were only going to take Sherry’s side. Besides, she did not want to risk getting on Queenie’s bad side. She took a deep breath and
suppressed her anger, then she proceeded to whisper into Sherry’s ears, “Master Mason is here.” This captured Sherry’s attention , and she snapped her eyes open. “What is he doing here?”. “You'll know when you see him,” Celine suggested.
This was enough to pull Sherry out of her sleep.
The truth was she would rather not have to see Mason. She was not interested in having any form of contact with him. With that said, she figured the least she could do was to see him since he took the time to come here.
She rose immediately.
Queenie asked suspiciously, “Who came? Where are you
going?”
Sherry answered nonchalantly, “You wouldn’t know him even if | said his name. Anyway, I'll be right back.”
Queenie remarked disinterestedly, “I didn’t ask if you'll come back. Do whatever you like, hell, I'd even prefer it if you didn’t come back.”
She said it like she was afraid of admitting that she wanted Sherry to return.
Sherry ignored her and went with Celine.
Meanwhile, Queenie grumbled and went back to her room.
Shortly after that, Sherry and Celine arrived in a courtyard near the entrance of the residence.
This section was primarily designated for receiving guests, so they rarely, if ever, came here.
It was very quiet inside the courtyard, and there was not a single person.
Sherry and Celine walked in.
As soon as they passed through the yard and stepped into the living room, she saw Mason. He was wearing a hat as well as the same uniforms the security guards wore. It appeared that he had somehow snuck in.
As soon as he saw Sherry, he rose from his seat.
Shannon was in the living room as well. She rose along with Mason and gestured at Sherry, “Sis, why don’t you talk to Mason? lll head out for now.”
With that, she walked outside without any further comment.
Mason immediately walked up to Sherry and looked at her intently. “Sherry, are you all right? Has John done anything bad to you while you were here?”
Shannon must have told him about her current situation.
Sherry smiled and answered, “I’m fine. All my needs are well taken care of, and John isn’t even home most of the time. Even if he happens to be around, he just has me
fetch some random things and perform menial tasks for him. He’s never hurt me in any way.” “How about the others? Do they give you a hard time when John isn’t around?” — “No, they're nice to me. No one tries to pick on me.” Mason was relieved to see that she seemed to be doing fine.
Sherry began to question him, “So, why did you come here? Was it Shannon who asked you to come?”
He smiled and stated, “I came on my own accord.” 1 Sherry frowned upon hearing this.
