Ch. 1376..1380

Chapter 1376 It was already late at night when Sylvia left the hospital.

Although the town was remote, there were many people on the streets of the famous tourist city. Her residence was also very close to the hospital. She arrived at the hotel after passing through two traffic lights.

She unlocked the door of the room, downed the medicine prescribed by the doctor with hot water, wrapped herself in a quilt on the bed, and fell asleep.

It was already the next morning when she opened her eyes again.

Sylvia took her temperature. 38.9 degrees Celsius. It was one degree lower than yesterday, but she still had a fever, so she had to go to the hospital. After a simple meal, she went to the hospital alone again.

There were many people in the outpatient department waiting for an IV drip, and Sylvia waited in line for a while. It was almost 3 in the afternoon before she finished three drips. Although she had no appetite , her stomach growled at her.

She was pale and walked along the side of the road, feeling lethargic. Then, she entered a restaurant serving light cuisine as she passed by.

At the same time, a luxury car from the airport passed by this restaurant, went through two traffic lights, and stopped outside a hotel.

The driver quickly got out of the car and opened the back seat door. “We've arrived at the hotel, sir.”

Odell nodded , got out of the car, and went straight into the hotel. His figure was tall and straight, and his handsome face and temperament made him stand out from the people around him.

The lobby manager of the hotel immediately greeted him and asked, “Would you like to check into the hotel, sir?” “I'm looking for someone.” Odell went straight to the front desk. The manager quickly asked him, “Who are you looking for?”

“Awoman called Sylvia Ross. She's my wife.” While speaking , he took out his phone and opened the photo album. The first picture in the album was his marriage license with Sylvia.

The manager looked at it and said to the receptionist,“ Check to see if this person is here.”

The receptionist was very quick and soon said to Odell, “I found her. Ms. Ross is staying in Room 6116, but | saw her go out alone this morning. She doesn't seem to have returned yet.”

Odell‘s eyes flickered. “She went out alone this morning?” “Yes.” “What about the two people traveling with her?”

The staff said in confusion , “| remember that Ms. Ross was alone when she checked in yesterday. There was no one around

her. Odell‘s face turned cold. “She just checked in here yesterday?”

“Yes.” The staff was aware that Odell's expression was off and said in a small voice, “Would you like to call Ms. Ross and ask her?”

Odell‘s expression was icy. “No need. I'll wait for her here.”

Yesterday, she told the children that her colleague was ill and that she could not come back. Now, it seemed that her colleague was not with her at all. He wanted to see just what she was doing here which delayed her return home for so long!

It was long after mealtime. When Sylvia arrived at the restaurant, the owner and the chef were both resting, hence only some leftovers remained.

Sylvia went to a few other restaurants before eventually settling on a quick meal. She carried the takeout and walked back to the hotel.

Her room was on the sixth floor. She held her key card and went directly into the elevator on the right.

Soon, the elevator stopped. She got out and walked along a long corridor to her room. After a few steps, she saw a tall and familiar figure.

The figure leaned against the wall ten meters away from her room.

She did not get a good look at his face, but his body shape and the cold aura around him were way too similar to that of the man at home. What was he doing here?

Chapter 1377 Sylvia thought she was hallucinating and walked forward quickly. After approaching him, she saw him clearly and was stunned. “Odell? What are you doing here?”

Odell watched with a sullen face as she came up to him." Isn't your colleague sick? Weren't you supposed to accompany her? What are you doing alone? Where are they—‘His cold voice suddenly froze when he walked up to her. He saw her weak complexion and stared at her intently. “What happened

to you? Why are you so pale?”

Sylvia looked at him

and said, “Take a guess.” Her hoarse voice reached his ears clearly. Odell frowned. “Are you sick? The one who was sick was you, not your colleague?” “Yeah.” Since he found her here, she had nothing else to hide

Odel's straight figure suddenly froze. After a moment, he raised his hand and touched her cheek. His expression was still unpleasant, but his palm was warm, an

d his movements were gentle.

Sylvia's nose suddenly stung, and her eyes grew red

Odell's gaze hardened , then he looked at what she was

carrying in her hand: a box of simple fast food, and a plastic bag from a hospital.

His eyes soon swept to the back of her hand. His expression changed as he immediately lifted both of her hands.

The blood vessels on the back of both her hands were blue and purple. There were obvious marks left by several needle punctures.

His large hand clenched around hers uncontrollably as a surge of gloom welled up. He looked at her and asked coldly, “What happened to you?”

Sylvia‘s gaze wavered, and she replied, “It's just an ordinary fever.”

Odell gave her a look, then took everything that she was carrying into his own hands. “Open the door.”

Sylvia pursed her lips and took out her key card to open the door.

She did not turn on the heater in the room, but she had opened the window before she left, so there was a cold current when she entered.

She was just about to curl up from the cold when he dragged her into his arms. Odell held her with one hand, placed the room card in the slot with the other hand, and turned on the heater. Sylvia‘s gaze flickered as she looked at him.

After all this, Odell looked down at her. He pinched her face when he saw her red eyes and asked, “Tell me clearly about how you got sick during this period, and then I'll deal with you.”

Sylvia could not help but pout. “Then, | won't tell you.” “Do you dare not to?”

She smiled. “Try me.”

He narrowed his eyes coldly. “You've gotten bold after leaving my side for so long, haven't you?” Sylvia was not upset and could not help but want to giggle Odell snorted, then took her face and kissed her.

Their lips molded together for a long time

Maybe it was to vent his anger at her over the past few days or some other emotion, but he held

the back of her head and hugged her waist, refusing to let her go for a long time. He only released her when she gave him a pinch.

She looked at him and said grumpily, “Odell Carter, I'm still sick. Aren’t you worried that I'll infect you?” Odell pinched her face. “Hurry up and tell me about your illness, or I'll continue to kiss you.” Sylvia held back her anger helplessly and asked, “Have you eaten lunch?”

“Yes.

“Then, can | tell you while | eat?” She had not eaten yet and had no energy.

Chapter 1378 Odell looked at her humble meal and frowned. “Yeah.”

She had to eat now because she was ill. If he ordered another takeaway, it would take half an hour to arrive. It was better to let her eat first He let her go and closed the open window.

Then, he sat at the small table with her.

Sylvia ate while telling him briefly about how she got sick right after coming here, and everything else that had happened

Odell frowned after hearing this.

Tracing back the timeline, she had already started to have a fever when he caught a cold before. He had even been angry

with her for several days because she had not seemed concerned His gaze sank as he looked at her. “Why didn't you tell me?” Sylvia raised her brows. “I didn’t want to talk to you back then.”

At that time, he was still biased toward Shermaine, so she did not want to talk to him at all. She also did not want the three little ones to worry about her, thus she did not say anything.

Odell held back his anger. “I was wrong. | misjudged her character.” Sylvia could not help but freeze and look at him.

He gazed at her gently and said, “Ruth sent Shermaine to Westchester.” Sylvia‘s eyes widened in shock. “How did you find out?”

“John came to me before and specifically mentioned that Shermaine looked similar to you. He also said that others thought | trea ted her differently. To avoid suspicion, | transferred her back to the administration department,” he said calmly. “Just a few days | ater, she appeared in the underground car park... and | found a clue.” Sylvia‘s gaze flickered, and her eyes narrowed. “You found a clue when she appeared in the underground car park?”

Odell‘'s expression did not change, but he avoided her gaze and looked out of the window. Then, he said, “Yeah.” Sylvia‘s face turned cold. “Look at me, Odell.”

Odell pursed his lips and looked at her while frowning.

Sylvia narrowed her eyes and eyed him sharply. “Did she do something to you in the underground car park?”

He blinked. “I'm a fully grown man. What can she do to me?»

She had been with him for many years and had seen all kinds of emotions from him. There was clearly something wrong with him!

She said coldly, “She threw herself at you, didn't she?” Odell's gaze flickered

“Say something!”

Odell let out a quiet, “Yeah.”

‘Smack.

Sylvia was not in the mood to eat anymore and slapped the fork on the table with one hand Odell saw her furious appearance and held back a smile." She just hugged me a little, and then I pushed her away.”

She

hugged hima little? Sylvia looked at him. “Did you want her to hug you more?” “With a wife like you, how would | dare?” Odell curled his lips and said, “When | go Indeed, he had

Sylvia's expression shifted. She gave him a look and asked, ‘What's wrong with a wife like me?”

“Awife like you is the best.”

Sylvia was speechless. When did this damn man learn

uaku?

O}Jrexhed out and touched her face, holding her while ang, “If you didn't run away from home, blocked my furber, and told me when you got sick, you'd be even bc Sylvia glared at him. “You were the one who raised your votre at me because of Shermainel

She was still a little cry wien she thought about those

Chapter 1379

Odell curled his lips. ‘I was wrong for raising my voice at you, but | didn't do it for her. | never meant to defend her. At that time, she was no different in my eyes f

rom the other employees who work hard.”

“Hmph. When she framed Charles, you stood by her persistently and completely ignored my explanation. I'm your wife,

but you didn't stand by me at all in front of so many people!” Sylvia got angry at the thought of that scene. She crossed her arms across her chest and looked at him huffily. Her appearance was quite cute

Odell looked at her and explained slowly, “First of all, Shermaine and Charles are not related. | couldn't find any reason for

Shermaine to frame Charles at that time. Besides, she was my secretary. Between Charles and her, of course, I'd favor her.

“Moreover, before the incident between Shermaine and Charles happened , | was waiting for you to reply to my message, but you never did. You also unconditionally helped the colleague who was interested in you

I was also very angry at that time.” There were times when his anger got the better of him and he lost his rationality. Sylvia asked, “You said Charles is interested in me? What nonsense are you talking about?”

Odell raised his chin slightly. His tone was immediately more self-confident than before. “He said it himself. He only went to talk to Shermaine because he saw that she looked like you.”

Sylvia frowned. “He did it because he saw that Shermaine looked pretty.”

“There were many beautiful women present. Why did he talk to Shermaine, the person who looked like you, instead of anyone el se?”

Sylvia was a little annoyed. “Stop speaking nonsense. We're just normal colleagues.” Odell‘s expression did not change. “He's interested in you.”

Sylvia held back her anger. “Stop being unreasonable .”

He raised his brows. “Say that again.”

“Stop being unreasonable !” She glared at him and said angrily, “I can say it a hundred more times. What are you going to do about it?”

“| can't do anything about it.” He smiled seemingly helplessly. “It's because you're my wife.” Sylvia choked up, and she could not help but look at him. “Even if you have a point, the fact is that Shermaine

framed Charles. | also saw her bump into you. She must have done it on purpose.” Odell pursed his lips. Looking back at it now, Charles had most likely been framed by Shermaine. That night when she bumped into him was not an accident either.

“Yeah.” His dark eyes looked at her. “I was wrong.”

Sylvia‘s gaze flickered, and the depression piled up in her chest

instantly disappeared. Her nose stung, and she said in a hoarse voice, “It's good that you know.”

Then, she picked up her fork, intending to eat some more.

However, her hand was clutched by his large one. He looked at her and said softly, “The food is cold. | just ordered takeout. Eat it when it arrives soon.” “Okay.” Sylvia obediently put down the fork.

Odell smiled. Looking at her like this, he soon could not help but take her into his arms. He made her sit on his lap and wrapped his arms around her.

They had not met for a long time. Even though Sylvia was angry at him, she still missed him. She half- heartedly punched him a few times and then leaned into his arms, feeling the comfortable body heat from his body. Just like

that, she seemed to feel slightly better. Then, the hotel staff brought up the takeout that Odell ordered Odell placed her on the bed, got up, and went to the door to bring it in

The packaging of the meal was very delicate , and Sylvia immediately saw the hotel logo on the bag. This restaurant was not listed on

the takeout menu. He must have contacted the restaurant directly to order the food.

After opening the container , the aroma wafted into the surroundings. It was fragrant and nutritious.

Chapter 1380 Sylvia clearly had no appetite before, but she finished almost all the food at once. Itwas only when she was almost full that she thought of something. Her eyes looked at Odell with a smile. “Odell, would you like to eat some more?”

The man’s dark and deep eyes stared at her. He looked at her appearance and smiled. “Are you full?” Sylvia pursed her

lips. “Almost.” That meant she could still eat.

Odell smiled and touched her head. “I'm not hungry. You can have some more.”

‘Well then

Sylvia lowered her head and continued to eat.

In addition to the food, there were also cut fresh fruits.

After eating her fill, Sylvia sat next to him with the fruit. She ate two pieces herself and then pinched one for him to eat.

Odell was very cooperative and ate it. He ate once with every two pieces that she ate. Just like that, the fruit box was cleaned ou t

Sylvia was full and began to yawn. “Sleepy?” he asked. “A little,” she replied, somewhat embarrassed.

The weather outside was quite nice today, and this was a famous tourist city. He came all the way here to look for her, so she should take him out for a walk outside.

“Sleep if you're tired.” Odell took off his coat. “I'm also a little exhausted.”

Sylvia‘s expression lit up. “Okay. I'll take you out for a stroll after a nap.”

Odell immediately pinched her face. “Wait till you get well.”

He came here to find her and take her back, not to tour around.

After taking off their coats and shoes, they lay together in their innerwear.

Sylvia closed her eyes and pressed her face against his chest as Odell hugged her. The atmosphere was quiet.

After a while, just as he was about to fall asleep, his arms suddenly felt empty. He opened his eyes, and his arm subconsciously hugged Sylvia‘s waist and pulled her back.

“Where are you going?” he asked her with a frown. “I'm not going anywhere. | just suddenly remembered something.” Sylvia lifted her neck to look at him.

Odell‘'s expression softened. “What is it?”

“Since Ruth sent Shermaine, was it part of their plan when Grandma suddenly disappeared two years ago and was saved by Shermaine?”

“Yeah, part of it was their plan.” Odell pressed her head back into his arms and said calmly, “Grandma went out of the house alone that night two years ago, but she didn't go far.

Shermaine happened to arrive at the Old District and wanted to have a chance encounter with me, but she unexpectedly met Grandma first. She tricked Grandme “No wonder.” Sylvia then asked, “How did you find out about that? Did Shermaine tell you?”

“No, Ruth did.”

ID

“Ruth?” Sylvia was stunned, then thought of something and said, “By the way, you haven't told me how you found out that Shermaine and Ruth were working together.” Odell rubbed her head with his large hand and told her how he asked Cliff to investigate Shermaine’s past. Then, he found out

that Shermaine had a mysterious sponsor behind her and deduced that that person was Ruth. Perhaps because his voice was too pleasant, Sylvia started to get sleepy. Her mind was also a bit blurry, but she

continued to voice her doubts. “Then, how did you get Ruth to tell you all this? Did you call her?”

Odell said in a faint voice, “She came to Westchester, probably to help Shermaine , but | caught her when she got off the plane.” “And then what?”

“And then | sent her to prison to meet her son.” He held his breath after saying this. “Then?” She sounded the same as before.
