Chapter 1381

He sighed and said, “Then, she left Westchester and went back.”

As soon as the words subsided, things went quiet.

Odell looked down and saw her soundly sleeping with her beautiful eyes closed.

She might still appear weak, but she was a lot better when he had seen her outside.

His gaze turned warm as he stroked her cheek before his eyes slowly closed and his mind wandered off to dreamland. When her eyes opened, it was already night and there was only a warm lamp left on in the room.

Odell had woken up before she knew it and was reading a book by her side.

When he noticed her open eyes, he went up to place his hand over her forehead and then took her temperature using the medical thermometer.

38° Celcius.

Sylvia’s eyes brightened. “The fever has gone down.”

Odell frowned. “38° Celcius means you are still having a fever.” She was by no means recovered yet. Sylvia chuckled. “It’s better than it was in the morning.”

Odell’s gaze shifted. “Hungry?”

Sylvia nodded.

“What do you want?”

“| want grilled meat,” she said after a quick thought.

Odell glared at her. “Something light.”

Sylvia pondered. “Why don’t we go out and have a walk? The night view here is quite attractive, and there's a lot of good stuff to eat.”

“It's cold outside. We'll go when you get better,” he said flatly but indubitably. There was no way he would let her go out in such a condition.

Sylvia laid back down with a disappointed look. “Then, get something that | can eat. I'll just simply fill my stomach.” Odell glanced at her. He then picked up his phone to check on the list of contacts for the well-known

restaurants around the area that Cliff had prepared for him.

It was then that Sylvia’s phone buzzed.

Sylvia grabbed her phone and saw the texts from the

group chat. She got up and tapped on the received text.

From Liam’s number came a voice. “Mommy, what are you doing? Flint misses you. | can’t eat properly without you.” It was obviously Flint grumbling using Liam’s phone judging from the voice.

Sylvia choked. Just when she was about to reply to him, she saw another voice message from Isabel.

“Mommy, don’t fall for that stupid Flint’s trick. He’s been playing outside the whole day and just got home!”

Sylvia was rendered speechless. Flint said, “Mommy, | just came home, but I’ve been missing you on the way back.” Sylvia chuckled. “Mommy misses you guys too. Where did you guys go today?”

Isabel replied, “Mommy, we went out with Ben and Jacob today. Flint got surrounded by a bunch of girls the moment he entered the theme park, so Liam and | went off to play on our own.”

Flint denied, “No, Mommy! | wanted to follow Isabel, but she ran away too fast! She dragged Liam away and | can’t catch up to them!”

Flint voiced his grievance as his voice grew softer.

Isabel interrupted, “Mommy, he’s lying! | dragged Liam

and him together, but he slipped away and went back to the girls!”

Flint yelled, “No, Mommy! | didn’t! They ran too fast, so | couldn't keep up. That's why we got separated.” The sister and brother's bickering amused Sylvia.

The two little rascals were great entertainment.

Just when Isabel sounded like she was about to teach Flint a lesson, Sylvia interrupted and said, “Okay, Mommy got it. Isabel and Liam didn’t leave Flint behind, and Flint didn’t slip away to find some girls on purpose, right?”

Chapter 1382

Flint immediately answered in a clear voice, “Correct!”

Isabel huffed, “Hmph! I'll let you off this time, Flint, for Mommy’s sake!” Flint cheered, “Issy is the best”

“Cut out the nonsense!”

Sylvia laughed at their interaction.

It was then that Liam’s account sent another voice message.

Sylvia tapped on it and heard Liam’s youthful but mature voice, “Mommy, you sound different. What’s wrong with your voice?” Isabel and Flint echoed his question as well.

Isabel asked, “Mommy, are you sick?”

Flint interrogated, “Mommy, are you feeling bad?”

Sylvia’s gaze shifted. She hesitated and then said, ” Mommy just woke up, that’s why my voice sounds a little heavy. I’ll sound better after | get some water.”

Flint cooed, “Owhhh.”

Liam asked, “Really?”

Sylvia confirmed, “Really.”

Then, Isabel added, “Oh yeah, stupid Daddy is gone, and he hasn’t been back until now. We don’t know where he is.” Flint repeated, “Yeah, we don’t know where he is.”

Sylvia turned around.

Odell had ordered food. He lay back on the bed and was looking at her lazily.

Sylvia pursed her lips. She placed her phone in front of his face and said, “Odell, why don’t you talk to them?”

Odell pursed his lips.

Sylvia tapped on the voice-recording button for a while but he did not make a squeak. He must still be mad about the kids forming a chat group without him and even kicking him out of the group once he invaded it.

It was mostly Sylvia’s fault, but she had done it because she had been mad at Odell as well.

Sylvia tapped his hand. “Odell, say something.”

Odell raised a brow. “Call me honey.”

Sylvia glanced at him. He glanced back with pursed lips as though saying that if she did not call him honey, he would not say another word.

Sylvia sighed. Since they were already husband and wife

for a long time, there was nothing to be embarrassed about.

“Honey.”

Odell curled his lips. “What? | can’t hear you.”

Sylvia widened her eyes and raised her voice, “HONEY!”

He smiled. “Again.”

Annoyed, Sylvia raised her leg at him and said, “Odell, I'll kick you off the bed!”

Odell curled his lips. He then curled his arm around her slim waist. His lips approached her ear and said in a deep voice, “I don’t believe you. Why don’t you try?”

Sylvia felt chills down her spine. She started to pound him on the chest. Odell caught her arm and pulled her closer to his chest.

While Sylvia’s face was buried into his chest, his steamy breath scorched her neck and almost melted her.

Odell narrowed his eyes at her. “Try it.”

Sylvia pursed her lips. “Honey.”

Odell grinned wider. “Good girl.”

He then grabbed her phone with his idle hand and tapped on the voice-recording button to send the kids a voice message. “lm here.”

The voice message silenced the entire chat group.

It took the kids a while to reply.

The first one to reply was Flint using Liam’s phone. ” Daddy, are you with Mommy?” Odell looked at Sylvia in his arms and hummed a reply.

Isabel complained, “Stupid Daddy, how could you go find Mommy on your own?!” Flint echoed, “Yeah! How could you?!”

Odell challenged them, “Do you guys have anything to say about it?”

The chat went silent again.

Sylvia snatched her phone back.

Suddenly, knocks came from the door. It must be the food delivery he ordered.

Odell freed her and got out of bed to get the door.

Chapter 1383

Sylvia said to the three kids, "Liam, Issy, Flint, Daddy and I are having dinner. You guys, be

good boys and a good girl, and go to sleep early today. Mommy and Daddy will probably come home tomorrow."

Flint agreed, "Mm-hmm, mm-hmm! Flint is a good boy!"

Isabel answered, "Mommy, we got it. You have dinner with Daddy."

"Alright."

Sylvia put the phone away with a smile. Although having a fever, she felt more energized than before and strongly believed she could recover tomorrow so that she could go home with Odell.

Meanwhile, at the Carters' residence, Liam, Isabel, and Flint were still in the game room looking at their phones.

While sitting in Liam's embrace, Flint kept tapping on Odell and Sylvia's chat.

Moments later, he looked up at his brother and asked, "Brother, do Daddy and Mommy love each other again?"

Liam pursed his lips and hummed a reply.

Isabel curled her lips. "Of course, they are lovey-dovey again.

Flint happily squealed. "Yay!"

Liam slightly widened his lips into a soft smile.

The thought of their parents making up and probably coming home tomorrow delighted them.

After a dreamless night, Sylvia woke up to the sun and started to plan her way home.

The moment she opened her eyes, Odell stuck the thermometer on her forehead.

Веер.

Sylvia looked at the numbers. 37.5° Celcius.

It was slightly high but was no longer a big issue.

Sylvia smiled at him and said, "Odell, I'm fine now. Let's book the tickets home."

He said, "We'll go to the hospital again, and we'll go back when you are completely fine."

Sylvia said, "It's fine. The fever will go down soon. Let's just go home."

She missed the kids.

Odell ignored her and got out of bed. "I've already ordered breakfast. After that, I'll take you to the hospital."

Sylvia stared at him.

Odell narrowed his eyes. "What? Do you want me to carry you?"

Sylvia narrowed her eyes and got out of bed, annoyed.

After breakfast, the two of them walked to the hospital.

There were still a lot of people in the waiting lobby, but maybe because Odell was with her, Sylvia somehow felt time passed easier today. It was not tormenting like the previous days.

After the queue and the infusion, it was already afternoon when they walked out of the hospital.

It was a sunny day.

Holding hands, Sylvia looked around as they strolled down the street, trying to find a place to bring him for lunch.

It was then that an expensive MPV stopped in front of them.

The driver asked Odell, "Are you Ms. Carter with the last four phone numbers 6677?”

Odell nodded and then grabbed Sylvia into the car.

Baffled, Sylvia asked, "Since when did you call for a ride?"

"Two minutes ago."

Sylvia added, "Where are you taking me?"

"Lunch."

"Where?"

"You'll know when we reach there."

Sylvia had no more questions. She assumed they were going somewhere with Michelin Stars and had a lighter menu.

The car finally stopped after a few turns.

It was indeed an expensive restaurant that served Italian food.

Sylvia was rather surprised. She looked at him.

He answered with a raised brow, "What's wrong? Don't like this?"

Chapter 1384

She knew he asked that on purpose, but nevertheless, she answered excitedly, “Yes!”

Odell smiled and brought her inside.

They entered the single VIP room that Odell booked, and the dishes were already pre-ordered before they arrived. Most of them were light dishes, but there were several heavy ones as well, which satisfied Sylvia's taste buds. After feasting, Sylvia felt energized. She wanted to bring him around for a stroll, but he dragged her back to the hotel. The moment they entered the room, he used the thermometer to check her forehead again.

37.1° Celcius.

Sylvia’s eyes glimmered. “Odell, let’s get the tickets and go home!”

Odell’s expression remained grim. “You're practically still having a fever. We'll talk when you fully recover.” Sylvia pouted.

The two of them took a nap together until Sylvia’s phone woke her up in the evening.

It was a call from Isabel.

Sylvia answered it away and heard Isabel's adorable voice through the phone.

“Mommy, are you back with Daddy yet?”

Sylvia pursed her lips. “Isabel, something came up here. We haven't started packing.”

“Is stupid Daddy bullying you again?”

“No, no. It’s not about him.”

Isabel sighed. “Hmph. Means you and Daddy are going on a dating trip.”

Sylvia was left speechless.

Flint’s sigh could also be heard. “Mommy has Daddy.

Mommy has forgotten that she has three babies waiting for her at home.”

Sylvia was at a loss for words.

“Fine. You can go date Daddy whenever you want,” Isabel said and then hung up the phone.

Sylvia helplessly looked at the black screen of her phone.

Already awake, Odell was looking at her from the side.

“Odell, give me the thermometer.” Her forehead felt chilly, so the fever must be gone. If her fever had finally recovered, she could go back to her kids.

Odell sat with his hands crossed and did not even move a muscle.

“| just went online and saw there're a lot of tourist spots here. I’ve only seen them in books before. | haven’t got the chance to see them with my own eyes,” he said.

His lips curled and then added, “Why don’t you bring me around for a stroll tomorrow?”

Sylvia did not know how to answer the man’s sudden urge of going on a trip around town. Maybe it was because he heard what Isabel and Flint said on the phone.

Amoment of silence later, she said, “I want to go home. You still have work to do. Let’s come again when we have time.”

He said, “I’ve been quite free lately.”

Annoyed, Sylvia said, “Well | have something to do!”

“What is it?”

“| miss the kids. | want to go home.”

“Then, I'll call Jacob to send them here.

Sylvia choked. “No. Liam and Isabel still have to go to school. Flint is too small to be traveling.”

Odell remained calm. “You either stay here with me for two more days, or | will bring them all over here. Your choice.” Sylvia frowned. “I want to go home!”

“Alright. I'll call Jacob to bring them here,” he said as he reached out for his phone.

Sylvia immediately snatched his phone away. She looked at him and said, “Odell, please be reasonable!”

“No.” He clutched her face and stared right into her eyes. He said in his deep voice, “Sylvia, you have left me for 24 days, do you know that?”

Sylvia’s eyes flickered. “We've met, didn’t we?”

“Just for a day.” Disheartened, he added, “In the past 24 days, you and the three little rascals have been talking non-stop but not

me.\

Chapter 1385

If he had not snuck into the chat group and had been watching her movements, they would have had zero contact in the past 24 days.

Sylvia averted his gaze. “You are the one who scolded me until | had to leave.”

“| know | was wrong,” he said with a softer tone. He then hugged her into his arms and whispered in her ears, “But there was not one day that I did not miss you.

He could not even sleep at night.

Sylvia’s gaze froze. All the annoyance and grief that had been piling up in her suddenly disappeared.

Odell hugged her tightly. “Spend two days with me, then we go home. Okay?”

Sylvia shyly said, “Okay, but...”

“But?”

“l want to see if | have recovered from the fever.”

If she still had a fever, she might not be able to go to many of the tourist spots.

Odell smiled. “It’s gone. | checked when you were almost awake just now. 36.6° Celcius. You're all good now.” Sylvia hummed a reply. She suddenly felt something strange and looked at him.

If he checked her temperature when she was still asleep, then he must have known that she had recovered when she had the phone call with Isabel. If she knew she had recovered then, she would certainly have told Isabel that she was going back.

He had done it on purpose! He only revealed to her that she had recovered after she agreed to go back in two days. She glared at him.

Odell pursed his thin lips and looked at her with a soft gaze.

Sylvia choked on her grievance.

After all they had been through, they married each other twice and managed to make it this far into the marriage. She exhaled. “Fine.”

Odell curled his lips and kissed her on the lips.

Back at the Old District in Westchester, the sky had just darkened, but the person who had been hiding behind the tree near the Carters’ residence finally came out.

She lowered her cap and headed towards the house. It has been two days since Odell went to the office, so he must be at home.

She wanted to confront him again. She still refused to believe that he had no feelings for her. He must have rejected her because Ruth had sent her to spy on him, hence the cold shoulder.

Just when she was about to reach the entrance, a buff man came up to her. “Who are you? What are you doing here? You've been hiding there for the entire afternoon.”

Shocked, Shermaine looked up at him.

“Shermaine?” Jacob recognized her at first glance. His expression turned cold. “What are you doing here?”

Shermaine ran without a second thought.

Just when Jacob wanted to go after her, an expensive MPV stopped in front of him. He did not recognize the car, hence he had a cautious gaze.

Soon, a young woman came out.

Dressed in black boots and a crimson red trench coat, woman came down from the car with wavy hair that was complemented by big glasses. Although it was a loose trench coat, it did not conceal her unusual aura and voluptuous figure.

Jacob was stunned. “Who are you?”

“Jacob, it has only been two years and you can’t recognize me anymore?” The woman removed the glasses and smiled mischievously at him.

Jacob’s eyes widened. “Ms. Fowler?!” “Yeah.” Sherry shoved her bangs to the side and asked, ” Is Syl here?”

Jacob immediately put on his most welcoming smile and said, “It’s really unfortunate. Madam is currently away on a vacation, and sir just went to see her yesterday. Both of them are not around.”

Curious, Sherry asked, “Why the sudden vacation?”

She contacted Sylvia twice recently and did not hear anything about her friend talking about a vacation. Jacob awkwardly smiled. “It’s a long story.”
