Ch. 1501..1505
Chapter 1501
Sherry looked straight into his eyes. “Caprice is already
two years old. You can’t just keep her with you all the
time. You're busy, and you won't have the time to accompany her.” John looked at Caprice. “Caprice, do you want to go out with Mommy?”
Sherry smiled at Caprice brightly and added, “Caprice, I'll bring you to the amusement park later. There are fantasy rides, theme parks, handsome boys, and beautiful girls. It’s going to be fun.”.
Maybe because of Sherry’s bright smile, or maybe
because the mention of handsome boys and beautiful girls captivated her, Caprice’s eyes gleamed with interest. She hummed an eager reply.
Sherry immediately carried the girl from John’s grip and even raised a brow to tease him.
John smiled. He then looked at Aunt Wanda and said, Aunt Wanda, you should go with them. And bring Jason along.” (
Aunt Wanda nodded with a smile. “I'll go inform Jason right away.”
John then looked at Sherry. “Don’t go wandering around
the wrong places with her. Remember to send me a picture every hour and tell me where you are.”
Sherry was exalted. She nodded happily and said, ” Gotcha.”
He then took his jacket and headed out. Before he headed out of the door, Sherry said to Caprice, “Caprice, say goodbye to Daddy.”
Caprice obediently said, “Bye-bye, Daddy!”
John paused and turned around to the mother and daughter smiling sweetly and brightly at him. The heartwarming smile stunned him for a moment before he smiled back. “Bye.”
Sherry was somehow stunned by the man’s touching and enchanting smile.
“Caprice,” he added. It seemed like John would only
smile this brightly at Caprice.
Sherry pursed her lips as the cruel reality pulled her back from her little trance.
Right after John left, Sherry brought Caprice, Aunt Wanda, and Jason out.
Coincidentally, they ran into Queenie at the door, and when she heard they were going to an amusement park, she insisted on following them.
Since there was no harm in extra company, Sherry allowed her to tag along. She had done some research on the amusement park last night.
Since Caprice was still young, there were only several
rides that she could ride. Sherry brought her on every ride that was suitable for a child.
To her surprise, she originally thought Caprice had no interest in the rides, but the girl had so much fun on every one of them. As they rode on the merry—go-round, the girl smiled brightly at a balloon that she got.
The morning went by in the blink of an eye.
Sherry and Queenie brought the girl to a nearby
restaurant for lunch. They thought that Caprice would be tired after playing for a whole morning, but the girl’s eyes were wider and more energetic than before as they were glued to the amusement park.
After lunch, they returned to the amusement park for
more fun.
There was also a children’s theater where mascots
performed.
A few shows later, they continued to wander around the amusement park before the girl finally yawned out of tiredness. Sherry laid the girl on her shoulder and headed towards the exit with Queenie and the others.
Suddenly, Queenie turned to her with an eager gaze and said, “Sherry, you’ve been carrying her for the whole day already. Why don’t | carry her for a while?”
Sherry knew Queenie wanted to hold her niece for a long time now, so she put Caprice in her arms.
As her hands went idle, Sherry’s phone rang.
It was John.
She answered it. “What is it?”
The man frowned in annoyance and said in a deep voice, (( Sherry, it’s been two hours since the last picture.
Sherry thought it was something serious. “Queenie and | brought Caprice to the children’s theater to watch some shows. | didn’t get the chance to take pictures.”
“Well, do you have the chance now? If you don’t, | can tell Jason to bring Caprice back and you won't get to take her out anymore.”
Chapter 1502
Chapter 1502 Although his voice contained obvious delight, he sounded warm. If she did not know any better, she would think that he was joking with her.
Sherry pursed her lips and answered, “Yes, yes, I'll send you the pictures right now, sir.” She hung up the phone immediately. Then, she took a picture of Caprice sleeping in Queenie’s arms and sent it to him.
John replied almost instantly, “Why is Caprice asleep?”
Sherry rolled her eyes. The man must be trying to pick a fight. How could a little girl not be tired after playing for the whole day? “She’s sleeping because she’s sleepy,” Sherry replied.
“Why is she sleepy?”
“She's tired, so she’s sleepy.”
“Why is she tired?”
Sherry cursed out loud at her phone, “Are you dumb?!”
Startled, Queenie, Aunt Wanda, and Jason all looked at
her.
Sherry awkwardly smiled at them. “I’m fine. I’m fine.” She then replied, “Caprice has been playing for the whole day. Of course, she’s tired.”
“Didn’t you let her take a rest?”
Sherry sighed. “Caprice was quite energetic for the whole day. She said she didn’t want to rest, so we didn’t.” “She didn’t want to rest and you didn’t make her? Is that how you become a mother?”
Vexed, Sherry angrily pressed the record button and said, “You bastard, are you trying to start a fight here?” The voice message went out instantly.
Before Sherry could calm down, John replied the same, Sherry, | think I’ve been too lenient with you the past two days. You dare raise your voice at me?”
He sounded grim. The man could easily tell Jason to take Caprice away; all it would take was just a message.
Sherry stomached her grievance and feigned a smile as she replied, “I’m sorry. | got out of control and raised my voice at you. Please forgive me. You are a tolerant, kind, and generous man.”
The others looked at her, speechless. On the other end of the phone was the man leaning on his chair lazily after settling his work.
“Hmph.” He giggled. He put his delight away and said coldly, “Then, write me a thousand-word review on your actions and send it to me by midnight.”
Sherry was dumbfounded.
Areview?
She choked on her grievance, and it almost drove her to raise her voice at him again. Before she could tap on the record button, the man sent her another voice message.
“If you don’t want to write it, you can’t take Caprice out anymore.”
UNREASONABLE!
Sherry took several deep breaths to calm herself down and replied, “Okay, okay. I'll write it as soon as | get home.” She clenched her fists as she continued in a flattering tone, “It’s my honor to of my actions for you, Master Stockton.”
She tried to disgust the man with her tone.
“Hmm. If you like it so much, make it a two-thousand- word review.”
Sherry was left speechless. She choked and flushed as if she was about to explode.
Queenie immediately took a few steps to the side with Caprice to avoid the time bomb; Aunt Wanda and Jason did the same. “Okay. Not a problem!” Sherry answered in the most flirtatious tone that gave the others goosebumps and quivers.
It was disgusting.
Sherry looked at their expressions and assumed John would feel the same, thus feeling better.
Meanwhile, in the man’s office at Stockton Tower, he continued to lean on his chair lazily as he tapped on Sherry’s latest voice message.
Chapter 1503
The voice message was brief but in a flirtatious tone.
He repeated it again and again.
His eyes and lips curved in delight as he enjoyed the pleasure her voice brought him.
After leaving the amusement park, Sherry and Queenie brought Caprice home.
The car drove in through the gates and went straight to the house that Sherry and John were living in. Caprice was still sound asleep with her face slightly pink.
Sherry carried her out of the car and went inside with Queenie and Aunt Wanda.
As soon as Sherry stepped into the living room, she saw Julie who sat elegantly on the couch in her aquamarine dress. Although she had a kind smile on her face, Sherry felt like she was looking at the female owner of the
residence.
Well, Julie had always been in charge of the Stocktons ‘ residence.
“Julie, what brings you here?” Queenie asked out of curiosity.
Julie stood up with a smile. “I’m here for Ms. Fowler.” She then turned her attention to Sherry. Sherry looked straight into her eyes and said, “What's the matter?”
Julie said indifferently, “Someone wants to see you in the front yard.”
Sherry frowned.
The Stocktons usually received guests at the front yard, and knowing that she had no friends in Glenchester, who could have requested to meet her?
She asked directly, “Who is it?”
“You will know when you go to the front yard,” Julie said with a smile. Sherry narrowed her eyes.
“Don’t worry. They just want to see you. You can leave Caprice with me.” Julie went up to her and offered to take Caprice from Sherry’s hands.
Sherry’s gaze turned cold. Instead of giving Caprice to Julie, she turned to the side and placed the girl in Queenie’s arms. Queenie was slightly surprised as she nervously carried Caprice.
Julie’s smile froze.
Sherry said to Queenie, “Please take care of Caprice. I'll be back soon.”
Queenie answered, “Okay. Just go ahead.”
Sherry then went out.
Julie’s gaze turned cold. She recovered her smile and looked at Queenie, “Queenie, I’m going out too. Take care of Caprice.” Queenie was even more surprised.
Sherry, the mother, had already told her to take care of Caprice, so why would Julie repeat the same thing to her again? Nevertheless, Julie always treated her well, so Queenie simply answered, “Okay. | will.”
There was a cart waiting outside the house.
As soon as Sherry got onto it, Julie came and sat in the rear seat. The cart drove them to the front yard of the residence. Sherry got out and went forward. Julie watched her with an odd look before following her inside.
After they entered, a silver MPV approached the front yard from the main avenue. The man unintentionally turned and saw the ladies walking in.
His gaze turned cold. “Stop the car.”
After they went inside, Julie stopped and said, “Ms. Fowler, go ahead. They are waiting for you.
Sherry glanced at her before going forward.
Julie’s gaze shifted as she went to the guest room on the left.
Inside the room was Madam Stockton sitting on the
couch. When she saw Julie walk in alone, she frowned and asked, “Where's Caprice? Didn’t she pass Caprice to you?” Julie frowned. “Mother, Ms. Fowler might not feel safe placing Caprice in our care. Aunt Wanda took her.”
Madam Stockton’s expression turned grim. “I've not seen Caprice for two days now. Didn’t you tell her that I, Caprice’s grandmother, wants to see her dear
granddaughter?”
Chapter 1504
Chapter 1504 “| told her, but she refused,” Julie said with a sigh.
“Hmph! She just came back into the family, and she’s already keeping my granddaughter from me. If she continues to stay under this roof, there won't be any place for me and you in the future,” Madam Stockton grumbled in anger and disgust.
Julie immediately consoled her, “Mother, you shouldn’t say something like that. John will never do that.” Madam Stockton argued, “His mind is full of that wretched woman! He has forgotten about his mother!”
It was then that a noise came from the living room next door.
Madam Stockton’s gaze shifted, and she curled her lips.
Julie pursed her lips and exchanged a quick glance with Madam Stockton.
The two ladies then went closer to the wall to eavesdrop.
In the living room next door, Sherry saw two familiar faces as soon as she walked in: Matthew and Janine.
After an initially blank expression, Sherry regained her composure and sat on the couch opposite the duo. She leaned back and crossed her arms before.she scoffed and
asked, “Mr. and Mrs. Fowler, what brings you two here?”
Matthew and Janine remained standing, and Sherry’s attitude put a frosty look on their faces.
Matthew said angrily, “Sherry, we are your parents. What is with that attitude? Stand up and talk to us!” Sherry argued, “I don’t remember having a father and a mother.”
“YOU-!” Matthew choked on his own emotions.
Janine said coldly, “I don’t care if you acknowledge us as your parents or not, but we are still related by blood. If we didn’t give birth to you, you wouldn't be here today talking to us like this.”
Sherry scoffed. “Should | thank you for giving birth to me? Should | thank you for swapping me for Shannon? Well, | guess | should thank you for hating me because | lived in some rural village when | was with you. | should thank you for ignoring me all those years, and thank you for letting Shannon take advantage of me. Oh, | shouldn’t forget about Shannon, your precious DAUGHTER, trying to kill me!”
Sherry expressed her ‘gratitude’ relentlessly which made Janine’s expression freeze.
Both Matthew and Janine responded poorly but were silenced by Sherry’s claims.
After Madam Stockton overheard the conversation from
next door, she frowned too. She might not have the best impression of Sherry, but after listening to the conversation, Sherry’s parents were not saints themselves either.
Julie captured the old lady’s expression. She sighed softly and said, “I didn’t know Ms. Fowler had such a poor relationship with her parents. That explains a lot about her unrestrained attitude.”
In other words, she had no manners.
Madam Stockton reacted with disgust on her face. “She’s just a woman with no manners.”
Julie’s eyes gleamed but did not continue the topic.
Besides Julie and Madam Stockton, there was another man at the door listening to the conversation inside.
Sherry’s sarcastic expression of gratitude put a smile on the man’s face. The woman had always been good at arguing.
Sherry’s voice sounded from inside the room. “To what do | owe this visit? Oh, wait... How did you two know that | am here?” Both Matthew and Janine were taken aback by her question.
Sherry continued, “Did Julie tell you?”
“No,” Matthew answered.
“Then, it must be Madam Stockton,” Sherry said.
Madam Stockton grunted when she heard Sherry. “She’s as cunning as a fox!”
Julie said in a small voice, “Ms. Fowler is indeed smarter than we thought.”
John narrowed his eyes and the expression on his face turned grim.
Matthew then looked at Sherry and said, “That's not important. We are here to talk to you about something else.”
}
“What is it? Do you want me to leave John? Leave the Stocktons' residence?” Sherry knew what her parents wanted before they even spoke.
A quick thought later, she added, “What did she give you? Or did she threaten you with the company? Or both?”
Chapter 1505
Chapter 1505 Mathew’s eyes flickered nervously while Janine’s face. turned pale. They did not expect such sharp insights from Sherry.
Matthew sat down on the couch and said with furrowed brows, “Sherry, | have to admit that we did you wrong before, but we Fowlers aren’t on the same level as the Stocktons. You saw what happened to your sister. | don’t want you to end up like her.”
“She’s not my sister. She’s a murderer who tried to kill me. She’s in jail because of attempted murder. It’s not because of the Stocktons,” Sherry reminded them sternly.
Although Shannon was deeply carried away by the fame and reputation of being Mrs. Stockton, the direct reason that put her behind bars was her attempt on Sherry’s life. Had she not tried to kill Sherry, she would not have ended up in jail.
Julie and Madam Stockton grew serious when they heard Sherry. Julie said, “Mother, | didn’t expect Ms. Fowler to defend us.”
Madam Stockton shared the same thought as well, but after listening to Julie’s words, she put on a frosty expression and said, “She’s not defending us. She’s just
trying to argue with her father.”
Julie pursed her lips.
Outside the living room, the man leaned on the wall as he continued to eavesdrop.
Then, Janine said to Matthew, “Cut the nonsense. She's just a heartless girl! She doesn’t know what's good for her!” Good for her?
Sherry rolled her eyes at Janine.
“Why did you do that for?” Janine noticed her reaction.
“Nothing much. I’m just disgusted,” Sherry said. She scoffed and then asked, “Don’t you think it’s disgusting?” Janine’s face went pale.
Matthew’s expression shifted as well.
“Ha...” A chuckle sounded from outside the door.
Sherry’s expression changed as she turned to the entrance, and Matthew and Janine did the same.
Aman with a slender figure then walked in. A long trench coat hung over his slender body, and a gray scarf wrapped around his neck warmly. He softly pushed his golden- framed glasses up as he walked in.
“| hope | am not interrupting anything,” he said with a smile. Matthew and Janine bolted up and looked at John. Matthew stuttered, “N—no. Not at all. It’s just that we haven’t seen Sherry for a long time, so we thought we’d visit.”
“Yeah. We are here just to visit,” Janine echoed.
John then looked at Sherry. “They are here to visit?”
Sherry pursed her lips. “Didn’t you hear everything from outside? Why ask the obvious?”
Matthew and Janine’s expressions went pale.
Matthew nervously said, “Master Stockton, it’s not what you think.”
John smiled and said, “Mr. and Mrs. Fowler, why don’t you two go back first?”
Matthew and Janine exchanged a quick glance nervously.
John then walked to Sherry and said to them, “Don’t worry. You can continue to develop in Glenchester. Nothing will change.” The meaning of his words was obvious—he would stop Madam Stockton from interfering.
Matthew’s eyes gleamed with delight. “Thank you, Master Stockton.”
“You don’t have to thank me. You should thank Sherry,” John looked at Sherry deeply. “I agreed to invest in your
company back then because of her, and | am letting this off the hook because of her as well.”
