Ch. 1581..1585

Chapter 1581

Right after Sherry’s car left the gates of Stockton Residence, another black MPV emerged from the shadows. Inside the car was the man with the golden-framed glasses, elegantly sitting in the

rear seat.

John had just come home a while ago. He said to his driver, “Follow them. Don’t let them notice you.”

The driver nodded.

Mason chose an expensive and grand restaurant that served some of Sherry’s favorite dishes. The only downside was the distance from Stockton Residence.

Sherry took a forty-minute ride to reach the restaurant.

The sky had gotten dark when she arrived. When she got out of the car, she saw Mason sitting by the ceiling-to-wall window on the second floor.

Mason saw her too. He waved at her with a smile and she returned the favor.

The black MPV stopped outside the restaurant. The man with the golden-framed glasses wound down the window and stared at the second floor with a sharp gaze.

Sherry went upstairs and sat down opposite Mason.

Mason wore a formal suit today, which made him look more like a gentleman than his usual sporty look. He looked at Sherry and said with a smile, “I've ordered some dishes. Have a look if you want to order anything else.”

He then pushed the menu over to her. Sherry glanced at it. She realized that all the dishes Mason ordered were her favorite. She smiled. “That’s more than enough.” “Great. What do you want to drink? Red wine? Or fruit punch?” Mason asked.

“Lil just get a glass of fruit juice,” Sherry said. She just wanted to have dinner and ask about how Mason was doing lately, so there was no need for alcoholic drinks.

Others who knew iess might have assumed they were dating.

“Alright.” Mason ordered her a glass of fruit juice.

The dishes were served swiftly. Sherry had a few bites and jumped to the topic. “What are you planning to do after going back to Westchester?”

“My family’s business in Westchester has been going well in the past few years, so | plan to take over the family's business when | go back. After everything has settled down, I'll find something else to do.”

Sherry nodded. “Is your family still running the construction material business?”

“Yeah.”

Amomentary thought later, Sherry asked, “So, you are not planning to continue the projects here in Glenchester?”

“Yeah. We've passed the projects to other interested parties.” As though Mason read Sherry’s mind, he smiled and continued, “Sherry, you don’t have to worry about me. | might not be as capable, but | won’t allow myself to deal in a losing business.” Sherry sighed a breath of relief. “That sounds great.”

“But | have a few questions for you.”

“What is it?”

“The Sagers faced a tremendous crisis before, and it’s almost impossible for them to make a comeback. How and what did you do to bring the Sagers back on track?” His eyes were gleaming with interest. He wanted to find out if she had used other methods other than the rumored ones.

Sherry smiled. “Yeah. | did use a lot of unorthodox methods...” She revealed a lot of her methods and went into some details.

Mason’s expression went through a roller-coaster ride as he listened to her methods. He chuckled. “Sherry, you are really good, better than | expected.”

Sherry smiled. “It’s nothing.”

Given the circumstances back then, she had to push herself to go the extra mile, and with her coincidental talents in doing business, she was able to make a lot of things happen.

Chapter 1582

Mason made a self-mocking scoff and left the topic aside.

Sherry pondered for a moment and asked, “Mason, if you run into any problems at Westchester, just contact me.”

He looked at her friendly smile and pursed his lips. “Yeah, | will.”

She raised her glass. “I'll use this fruit juice to propose a toast. | wish you all the best when you return to Westchester. Cheers.” Mason picked up his glass, clinked it with hers, and then drained it to the last drop.

Sherry chuckled at his reaction. Anyone who knew less might have thought Mason had just finished a glass of wine in a single gulp.

Mason also curled his lips when he saw her smiling.

Meanwhile, the man in the car outside the restaurant saw them smiling happily through the window. His brows furrowed and his expression turned grimly frosty. She had never smiled this bright when she was with him, yet she smiled like the sun when she had dinner with Mason. The interior of the car got cold and depressing, which pressured the driver and Peter. Neither of them dared to even make a noise.

After the glass of fruit juice, Sherry said to Mason, “I have to go back to Caprice now. | have to leave.” Mason smiled. “Alright. See you.”

“See you.”

Sherry then grabbed her jacket and headed to the stairs without saying anything else.

Mason remained seated as he watched her leave his sight. His eyes showed a hint of loneliness. This might be the last meeting between them.

Three years ago, he was still confident in being her match and even hoped that she could return to his side. Now, no matter how confident he was, he knew her capabilities and he could no longer be her perfect match.

Sherry strode out of the restaurant, and when she looked in the direction of the parking lot, she saw a familiar figure.

The man with the golden-framed glasses stood tall in his handsome suit. His hands were pocketed and his back leaned against the car, looking casual with a hint of

laziness.

John should be on a business trip instead of waiting for her at the restaurant. His lips

curled.

Maybe because of the chilly weather, she saw coldness on his face.

Sherry was slightly stunned even though he was smiling at her.

Her gaze shifted as she walked closer to him. She asked, “Shouldn't you be on a business trip? Why are you here?”

John lifted his hand and stroked her face. “Sherry, aren't you happy to see me?” His voice sounded frosty.

Sherry’s gaze quivered. She furrowed her brows and asked, “How did you know | was here? Did you follow me?”

The man’s sudden appearance with the frosty stare and the expression on his face screaming his suspicion of her cheating on him, there was no way she could be happy seeing him.

John curled his lips wider and said indifferently, “| was home when you went out just now. So, | followed you and saw where you were going.”

Sherry looked at him suspiciously. She had a feeling that something was wrong with him.

Before she could ask any more questions, he tugged her into his arms and hugged her. “You were having dinner with Mason up there. | saw you guys smiling happily. What did you guys talk about?”

He then looked up at the window on the second floor.

Mason was still there in his seat, looking at them from a condescending point of view. He was surprised when he met John’s gaze, but he quickly covered his

emotions with a polite smile. His expression looked natural. -John narrowed his eyes.

Sherry then said, “He and his family are moving back to Westchester. We had a farewell dinner.”

Chapter 1583

Chapter 1583 He looked at her and saw her looking at him boldly as well.

John curled his lips and then opened the car door. “Alright. Get in. We are going home.” He sounded calm but for some reason, it aroused anxiety in Sherry’s heart.

She looked at him as she got into the car. John got in right after her. He sat beside her and held her hand. After a quiet journey home, the car drove them straight to their house.

Sherry wanted to get out of the car, but he pulled her back. Although she tried to pull her hand away from him, he dragged her closer to himself. He then opened the door and carried her out.

Sherry immediately said, “Put me down! | can walk!”

John ignored her and carried her into the house.

Caprice was at Madam Stockton’s place, so only Aunt Wanda was home.

Aunt Wanda blushed when she saw John come in with Sherry in his arms. She bolted up and left the living room in a hurry. Sherry blushed as well. She patted his chest and said, “Put me down!”

He curled his lips and continued upstairs.

When they entered the bedroom, John put Sherry on the bed.

Since the bedroom’s lights were not switched on, the only source of illumination was the lights from the corridor.

The dim environment veiled his expression from her. When he took his golden- framed glasses off, his eyes reflected the chilly gleam from the only light source.

Her gaze shifted. She wanted to get out of bed, but his strong arms reached out and pulled her back. He got on top of her. “You bastard, what are you doing? Let me

He did not only pin her arms down, but he even silenced her with his lips. Her only chance to speak was robbed of her when they locked lips.

Rustling sounded ceaselessly in the room.

Sherry was no match for him even if she mustered all her strength. She simply could 7004 not push him away.

Then, he sat up while his hands were still clinging to her body. He pinched her chin and curved his lips into a cold smile. “Sherry, were you going to fool around with him if | didn’t come home today?”

Sherry’s gaze shifted. His accusation angered her. She cried, “I just had dinner with Mason. You saw it too!”

If she wanted to fool around with Mason, why would she have left after dinner?

However, John’s face remained gloomy even with her explanation. He continued to pinch her chin. “Then, why did you go have dinner with him? Do you still like him? Seeing him again reignites the ashes in your heart, am | right?”

As he spoke, his tone got colder.

Sherry started to quiver. She angrily pushed him and cried, “Are you out of your mind? There’s nothing between us! What nonsense are you talking about?”

“Then, why did you have dinner with him? WHY?!” he suddenly raised his voice.

Sherry was startled, and her face turned pale.

She went silent for a while until he lowered his head and forced his dangerous gaze into her eyes. “Why the silence?” “Can you calm down?” she said meekly with a hint of pleading.

John flickered his eyes. He stroked her face and asked, “You went out for dinner with a man that you cheated on me with. How can | be calm?”

Sherry choked on her emotions momentarily before she said, “There’s nothing between us anymore! | heard he’s returning to Westchester, so that was a farewell

dinner!”

The man chuckled coldly. “If there’s nothing between you and him, why the farewell dinner?”

Chapter 1584

Sherry choked on her words as if she had cotton stuffed in her throat. He never believed her, so no matter how much she explained, it was useless.

The room went quiet for a while.

“Sherry, why are you not talking any more?” He stroked her face and continued coldly, “Is it because you won't even bother to explain yourself?”

Sherry pursed her lips and said, “I’ve already explained myself. What else can | do if you don’t believe it?”

His eyes flickered for a moment. He chuckled and said, “I went on a business trip for two days, and you had dinner with him behind my back. How can | trust you?”

“| didn’t mean to keep it from you. | ran into him when | brought Caprice to the park this morning. We had a chat and he left.” “Then, he invited you to dinner and you said yes?” John stared at her sharply.

Sherry pursed her lips in silence.

The atmosphere turned quiet once more.

He pinched her cheeks and smiled. “Come on, continue.”

Sherry did not want to look at him or listen to his voice because he was being creepy. She asked, “What can | do to make you trust me?”

The man pursed his lips in silence. He looked at her delicate face, and it somehow reminded him of that rainy day from nine years ago when he had returned to his apartment.

He wanted to trust her as well, but now that she met with Mason behind his back, even though it was just dinner and she claimed she had no more feelings for the man, why would she have agreed to have dinner with Mason?

Had she forgotten that she once cheated on him with Mason? His gaze turned grim and gloomy.

Sherry met his gaze and she quivered. She tried pushing him away. Thud!

However, he exerted his strength and pushed her back onto the bed.

He was still on top of her. He curled his lips as he moved closer to her face. He was millimeters away from her lips as he said, “Sherry, kiss me and | will believe you.”

Sherry frowned.

Kiss him?

All she wanted was to push him away. She was not in the mood to kiss him!

He looked into her eyes and said coldly, “If you don’t kiss me, you are thinking about him.”

Sherry was rendered speechless by his strange logic. She gulped nervously and said in a small voice, “Can you get up? Let’s talk about this.”

“Kiss me,” he said coldly.

Irritated, Sherry continued, “Can you be reasonable-”

Before she could finish, he silenced her with his lips once more.

He kissed her strongly as if he had run out of patience.

Sherry was almost ingrained into the bed as he continued to push her back. She started to suffocate, but the man disregarded her struggling as he continued to press her back forcefully.

The more Sherry struggled, the stronger he pressed down and held her. He even almost crushed her wrist with his strength. The pain drowned Sherry and almost knocked her out, she felt like she was being pushed to the verge of death.

It was then that a sweet voice sounded. “Daddy, Mommy, don’t fight!” The uncontrollable man froze and stopped ravaging the woman underneath him. Sherry gasped strongly to recover her breath. She held her tears back and looked to the side.

Caprice had come in without their knowledge and was standing beside the bed, staring at them with her big googly eyes.

Chapter 1585

The girl seemed startled by her father and mother’s argument.

Sherry’s chest tightened. Then, she felt the weight on her lift all of a sudden.

John had gotten out of bed. He carried Caprice and strode out, leaving Sherry alone in the spacious, quiet room. Sherry’s heart was pounding. She was nervous. It took her a while to sit up and leave the room with her shaky legs. The bright corridor revealed the red marks on her wrists, which she had gotten from struggling to break free from John. She had a glance at the living room.

John had a bowl of mashed fruits in his hand and was feeding Caprice on the couch. The girl was munching quietly, and the fear on her face was long gone.

Sherry sighed a breath of relief. She did not want to see the man, so she went back to her room, locked it, and headed to the bathroom.

After washing up and changing into some thicker clothes, she sat down beside the bed.

Being imprisoned for a year remained a nightmare that would haunt her from time to time. Had Caprice not shown up earlier, the man might have forced himself on her again.

She curled up like a cooked shrimp and tapped on her phone to search for Sylvia’s contact.

However, her hands froze before she could make the call. It was late, and Sylvia and Odell might be resting. Besides, she had no idea how to tell her friend about what happened.

Complaining about John bullying her again? But they were married and they had had sex before, so complaining about something this trivial made her feel wrong.

Sherry put her phone away and buried her face behind her hands. Her chest tightened. Before she headed out to meet Mason, she had actually thought of calling John after the meeting to inform him. She did not expect that the man would follow her to the restaurant, She did not know

whether he followed her when she left the house or if he had someone watching her all the time. Catching her outside the restaurant made her feel like she was caught cheating.

Regardless, the reason did not matter anymore. She just wanted to steal Caprice away and leave Glenchester.

The man resented her for cheating on him and never trusted her. If something else triggered the man’s dark side again in the future, he might imprison her once again.

Meanwhile, outside the house, Mia finally stood up after hiding in the shadows for a while.

She had a glance at Sherry through the window before she headed to the living room. She saw John feeding Caprice before she snuck out of the premises through the backyard and returned to Julie’s place.

She reported to Julie about what happened tonight. From John carrying Sherry into the house to Caprice’s appearance stopping the two of them from having sex,

everything was reported in meticulous detail.

Julie grinned.

Mia noticed the delight on her face, She added, “Ma’am, our plan is still ongoing. It hasn’t been a success yet, so why are you so happy?”

Julie asked, “Who said our plan is still not yet a success?”

“We spent that much effort to lure Master Stockton to catch Sherry and Mason meeting behind his back, but he only teased her on the bed and did not show any intentions of chasing her out of the house.

Julie smiled. “If he really dislikes Sherry, he wouldn’t have married her again in the first place.”

Sherry had cheated on John with Mason nine years ago, yet the man never let her go. Now he only caught Sherry having dinner with Mason, so the best he could do was get mad at her, not chase her away.

Mia was more confused than before. “So, what is the purpose of us going through all that effort to set Sherry up with Mason?” Julie revealed a disdainful grin. “I want to remind Sherry that John remembered what she did to him all those years ago.” Three years ago, when John had imprisoned her out of retaliation, it should have

traumatized her, and when he almost forced himself on her, it should have reminded her to plot her escape as soon as possible if she did not want history to repeat itself.
