Chapter 1681

Caprice said, “I woke up a while ago. | even had a video call with Liam!”

The girl was like a blooming flower when she spoke of Liam. Sherry could not help but chuckle at her expression. She asked, “Are you hungry? Why don’t | bring you to a nice place for dinner?”

After all, it was almost dinner time.

“I'm not hungry,” she said as she took another bite from the cake in her hand.

Sherry pursed her lips helplessly. She wanted to bring Caprice out immediately, but the man’s deep voice said, “I’ve ordered dinner for us.”

Sherry was surprised. John smiled at her. “Have a seat. Dinner should be arriving soon.”

Caprice echoed, “Yeah! There is a lot of candy there, so Mommy can have some first!” The girl pointed at the other end of the table.

Sherry then noticed there were a ton of candies and pastries laid out properly on the table. As a workaholic, her kitchen was nothing but a decoration. Her refrigerator did not even have ingredients for cooking, let alone snacks and pastries. John must have bought them.

Sherry had a glance at them before replying, “Thank you, Caprice. I’m not hungry.” Caprice pouted. “Okay...”

John also pursed his lips in silence.

Awhile later, knocks came from the door.

Just as Sherry wanted to open the door with Caprice, John got up before her and strode to the door. He opened the door and saw Jason outside.

“Sir, dinner is served.” John nodded. “Bring them in.”

Jason brought two waiters into the house. The waiters were from a famous local restaurant, and they came in with a huge food container each.

The food container carried freshly cooked dishes, and when the dishes were all served, they left with a polite bow. Jason left as well. The feast on the table was inviting, and its fragrance filled the quiet living room.

Caprice sniffed. “They smell so good!” The cake in her hand became a relic of the past. She stopped munching on it and glued her eyes to the table of dishes. Sherry smiled and carried the girl to the table. While holding the girl with one arm, Sherry picked up the fork and fed her.

John was still standing by the door. He watched Sherry feed Caprice for a moment before his gaze shifted and he cleared his throat.

Caprice, who was munching on the meat, finally remembered about her father. She turned around to him and said, “Daddy, why are you standing there? Come and eat.”

John did not answer in a hurry. Instead, he looked at Sherry for permission.

Caprice’s big googly eyes flickered. She turned to Sherry and said, “Mommy, let Daddy have dinner. If he doesn’t eat, he will be hungry.”

Sherry frowned. She turned to John and said coldly, “Why are you standing there?”

John smirked. He strode back to the table and sat opposite the mother and daughter. Sherry ignored him and continued feeding Caprice.

The girl could only eat so much given her size, and with the candies and cakes she ate before dinner, she was full after a few bites. She pouted and said to her mother, “Mommy, I’m full. You eat.”

Sherry wiped the girl’s mouth and asked, “Caprice, what do you want to do now?”

“| want to watch Le Tigre!”

“Le Tigre?”

“It's a cartoon,” John said. He pulled his phone out, tapped on the cartoon that the girl was watching earlier, and gave it to her. Caprice took the phone and crawled out of Sherry’s arms.

Sherry wanted to accompany the girl, but the man said, “Aren't you eating?”

 

Chapter 1682

Sherry’s expression turned cold. “I’m not hungry.”

John was the one who bought dinner, so she did not want to have any of that.

Sherry put the fork down and walked over to Caprice.

The atmosphere turned awkward instantly.

John frowned as he watched Sherry walk over. He, too, put down the fork and spoon.

Caprice crawled up the couch with the phone. The girl was still young and watching the phone too closely would harm her eyes. Sherry sat beside her, carried her onto her lap, and said, “Caprice, I'll watch it with you.”

Caprice hummed a reply.

Sherry held the phone so that the girl would lean on her comfortably.

Two hours passed. Caprice got sleepy and started to doze off in her mother’s arms, so Sherry quickly brought the girl to the room. She then came back out and brought the pink box in.

She had found the pink box when she woke up earlier. John must have sent it over while she was having a nap with Caprice. The pink box had all of Caprice’s clothes and necessities.

Sherry gave Caprice a bath, changed her into some cotton pajamas and tucked her into bed. The girl fell asleep as soon as she lay on the bed. Sherry sighed delightfully.

It was then that her stomach started growling in hunger. She was already starving when she bathed Caprice, and all she wanted to do now was to have something to eat.

She wanted to order supper after chasing John out of the house.

However, when she opened the door, she saw John leaning by the door frame. His deep and gentle gaze stared at her. “Is Caprice asleep?”

Sherry took a few steps away to draw distance from the man. She hummed coldly and then said, “You can go back now.” He curled his lips. “I ordered supper for you. It’s still hot. Have some.”

Sherry was slightly surprised. She noticed the table had been cleaned of dinner, and there was a bowl of hot soup and some snacks ready. Her stomach growled in, an untimely manner.

Sherry gulped her embarrassment and said, “I’m not hungry. I’m going to bed. Please leave.”

John stood still and smiled at her. “I'll leave when you finish.”

Sherry glared at him. “Master Stockton, this is my house. You are not welcome here. Please leave.” John smiled. “Okay. I'll leave when you finish.”

“I'm not having it!” Sherry cried. She believed the man knew why she refused to have any of the food he ordered. When she was imprisoned, she had gotten so hungry that she had stolen leftovers from the bodyguards and even tried to eat grass from the lawn.

The man, however, told the bodyguards to not leave any food behind and mowed the lawn clean.

Now the man wanted her to have supper?

Fuck him!

The longer Sherry looked at him, the angrier she got. If it was not for Caprice, she would never have let the man step into her apartment.

John frowned. “Sherry-”

“DON’T CALL MY NAME!” Sherry bellowed angrily, her eyes bloodshot. “Get the hell out of my house!”

John pursed his lips in silence. He turned around and walked out of the house. The door was shut, leaving the entire apartment in silence.

Sherry leaned against the wall to rest her eyes for a moment. Then, she grabbed her phone and ordered takeaway. The fragrance from the soup and snacks tickled her senses.

She gulped nervously and threw all the soup and snacks into the sink and the trash.

The night was quiet.

Outside Sherry’s apartment was an MPV parked by the road. The man sat in the rear seat alone, his eyes glued to the entrance of the building.

Awhile later, he saw a deliveryman in uniform carrying some takeaway bags into the building.

His expression changed.

Chapter 1683

Two minutes later, John’s phone rang.

It was from Nelson, the bodyguard who stood guard outside Sherry’s apartment.

He put the phone near his ear.

Nelson said, “Sir, Ms. Fowler’s supper has just arrived, and she should be eating by now.” As he hummed a reply, his tightened expression relaxed.

After a dreamless night, Sherry woke up and started to prepare for the day. Caprice had just woken up. The girl’s response was slower in the morning compared to the rest of the day.

Sherry helped her brush her teeth and put on new clothes.

It was then the girl thought of her father.

“Mommy, where’s Daddy?” she asked with pouty lips.

“Daddy will be here soon.”

The girl nodded with a pursed mouth.

Knocks came from the door.

Sherry ordered breakfast half an hour ago. It must be the deliveryman at her doorstep. She put Caprice on the couch and went to get the door.

The deliveryman left after handing her the breakfast. Sherry planned to tell Nelson to contact his boss, but before she could, she already saw the man standing by the door.

The man wore his white collared T-shirt with casual long pants, setting off his slender figure. His signature golden—-framed glasses did not obscure the bright and somewhat enchanting gaze at her.

Sherry’s expression turned cold. She instinctively wanted to shut the door on him, but for Caprice’s sake, she held her urge back. She glared at him coldly before going back inside with breakfast.

The door was left open, which was a sign for him to go in.

Caprice’s eyes shimmered when she saw her father. She jumped off the couch and ran to him.

“Daddy!”

John carried the girl into his arms.

Sherry put breakfast on the table. Breakfast was Coastrock City’s local specialty. She was afraid that Caprice might not like it, so she ordered a variety of breakfast for the girl.

There was no way the two of them could finish it, but she did not plan to include John for breakfast.

After she sat down, she waved at Caprice. She wanted to feed Caprice, but the girl grabbed a bun and started munching on it. In fact, the girl missed sitting on her father’s lap.

Sherry put her hand down and ate breakfast on her own. John was looking at her with Caprice in his arms. Amoment later, he cleared his throat.

Sherry heard him but decided to turn a deaf ear and a blind eye.

Caprice heard it too. She looked up at her father with a curious gaze as if she was asking what she could do for him. John sneaked a glance at the breakfast on the table.

Caprice’s eyes flickered with realization. She grabbed a piece of sandwich and gave it to him.

“Daddy, you should eat too.”

John smiled. “Thank you, Caprice.” He took the sandwich and looked at Sherry at the same time.

Sherry was indeed looking at him.

John tightened his lips awkwardly and then said, “Caprice gave it to me.”

In other words, he did not take it himself. He even feigned an innocent look on his face.

“Huh?” Caprice failed to understand the meaning of his words. Out of concern, she innocently asked, “Daddy, why aren’t you eating?”

John glanced at Sherry, and Caprice did the same. Sherry said with gritted teeth, “If Caprice wants you to eat, you eat.”

“Okay.” He smiled and put the sandwich into his mouth.

 

Chapter 1684

Chapter 1684 Coastrock City was famous for its many beaches. After breakfast, Sherry brought Caprice to a famous seaside theme park. There were many attractions for children to enjoy.

Sherry bought a mermaid dress for the girl and went on rides with her. They went on every ride possible, and the girl enjoyed every single one of them. The smile on her face never faded since she entered the theme park.

When she got on the merry-go-round with Sherry, she even laughed and giggled.

John had been following the mother and daughter since the beginning, and he was in charge of carrying Caprice’s water bottle and other necessities. He maintained his distance from the two of them and would stay outside whenever they got onto rides.

Caprice finally became tired after a long day. She got thirsty and wanted a drink.

John automatically went up with Caprice’s water bottle and gave it to her. Caprice held her water bottle with her tiny hands and started drinking from the straw.

When she finally quenched her thirst, she gave it back to John. “Thank you, Daddy...”

John took the water bottle and smiled at her. “You’re welcome.” He then looked at Sherry.” Water?” Sherry ignored him and threw a cold gaze at him.

John pursed his lips and took a few steps away from her.

Sherry then looked at Caprice. “Caprice, let's go get a bottle of water.” She smiled brightly at the girl and spoke using the kindest tone. It was like she was a different person from when she was looking at John.

John pursed his lips.

Caprice nodded and hummed a reply.

Sherry then held the girl’s hand and went to get some water.

There was a booth selling snacks and water around ten meters from them.

John did not follow them. He stood there with the bag and watched them from afar. It was then that he spotted two sneaky figures following them.

They were watching him while taking pictures of Sherry and Caprice. His gaze shifted and he turned to them.

The two figures immediately hid behind a fake mountain when they met his gaze.

John retracted his gaze.

Then, his phone rang. He put his phone next to his ear.

Jason said, “Sir, the two suspicious people are following you and Ms. Fowler again. They were tailing you guys when you left Ms. Fowler’s apartment this morning. | saw them taking pictures and videos of all three of you. Do we need to expose them?” John looked at Sherry and Caprice in front of the booth. He smiled and said, “No need.”

“But they have been following you and Ms. Fowler for a while now. They must be up to something.”

“| know. Just leave them alone.”

Jason pursed his lips. “Yes, sir.”

The call ended. John pocketed his phone as a thought ran through his mind. It had been two days, and he believed Aiden was growing restless.

Meanwhile, in a high-end club somewhere in Coastrock City, Aiden and Caden were inside a VIP room with two sexy ladies by their respective sides. They had just finished a game of poker and were having a drink.

Ding. Aiden’s phone rang.

He pushed the woman away and pulled his phone out.

Chapter 1685

After a glance at the caller ID, Aiden’s eyes flickered. He answered the phone.

“What did you get today?”

The call ended briefly.

He then went on his social media and tapped on the pictures and videos he received. Caden noticed the smile on his brother's face. “Bro, what’s up?”

Aiden was not in a hurry to answer. He said to the ladies and guys, “Caden and | have something to discuss. Give us the room.” The

guys, who had been playing poker with the brothers earlier, and the ladies left. Caden then moved close to his brother.

Aiden showed him the pictures and videos he received.

The picture showed Sherry carrying a three-year-old girl in the theme park with a handsome man following them everywhere they went.

The videos showed more or less the same thing, but there was an extra scene of the man handing the girl a water bottle.

Although Sherry gave the man the cold shoulder, she looked at the girl with a kind and gentle look as if she was a mother looking at her daughter.

In addition to the videos and pictures from two days ago, it was more than enough to prove that the girl was indeed Sherry’s daughter. The man must be her ex-husband!

Caden was over the moon when he saw the pictures and videos. “Bro, with these, Sherry won't be able to marry Carl anymore!” Aiden scoffed. “It’s still not enough. They will be engaged in five days. | want to prepare a big present for them on that day.” Caden narrowed his eyes. “Bro, what do you have in mind?”

Aiden grinned profoundly.

Sherry and Caprice had a whole day of fun at the theme park and only left in the evening.

The girl’s enthusiasm remained high, and she looked energetic even after playing for a whole day.

Sherry then brought her to a restaurant famous for its kids‘ meals to have dinner before

going home. She originally wanted to go home in separate cars, but the girl asked for her father’s presence, so she let the girl sit with her father in the rear seat while she drove.

The sun finally set over the horizon.

Sherry steered the car carefully. It was quiet on the way back.

Just when Sherry wanted to stop the car in front of her apartment, the man’s deep voice sounded, “Nice driving.” Sherry’s brows raised but she did not respond.

“Is this your own car?” he asked.

No matter how she listened to it, the man was obviously trying to flirt with her, so she simply gave him the silent treatment.

John saw the expression on her face through the rearview mirror. He chuckled and said, ” It’s a nice car.” It was not a branded car, but it was clean and comfortable. He was thinking of buying her a bigger car for her.

Sherry’s eyes were glued to the front. Her expression was frosty and her lips were sealed as she drove the car into the apartment’s parking lot.

John zipped his mouth. The car finally stopped. John got out of the car with Caprice in his arms, and Sherry got out as well.

When she saw Caprice sleeping soundly in John’s arms, she simply put her hands out to him. John curled his lips and put Caprice in her care.

As soon as she got Caprice in her hands, she moved her feet towards the elevator without sparing an extra glance at the man. John was left standing on the spot.

When the mother and daughter finally disappeared from his sight, he left. He was staying in the hotel opposite the street. He crossed the road and reached the hotel’s lobby with ease.

However, when he stepped into the lobby, he accidentally ran into Aiden and Caden, who were looking at him with evil grins.
