Ch. 1791..1795

Chapter 1791

She clearly remembered the flower was different when she sent Queenie and Madam Stockton out. John went silent for a moment. “Someone came to visit and brought flowers.”

“Who?”

“Someone you don’t know,” he said plainly.

“Oh.”

It was probably his contact in Coastrock that she did not know of.

Sherry was not overly bothered. She walked to Caprice’s side and sat down.

Caprice suddenly said, “Daddy, | want to video-call Liam.”

Sherry was slightly surprised.

John took his phone out. He checked the time to make sure Liam was free before he pulled up Liam’s contact number. He then passed his phone to Caprice, “Here.”

“Yay!” Caprice took his phone and sat down on the couch. She shuffled her way to the side and video-called Liam.

The girl was just a few meters away. Sherry could see the girls wide grin and cheeks puffed when she called Liam’s name on the screen, “Liam!” She was over the moon.

Sherry could not help but giggle at her adorable daughter. It was then she sensed a gaze on her. She turned around and saw John’s warm gaze on her. She furrowed her brows. “What are you looking at?”

“At your beauty,” John said with a smile.

Sherry wanted to punch him but then he said, “Do you have anything to tell me?”

Sherry pursed her lips. “Mm-hmm...”

She glanced at Caprice happily video-calling Liam before she said, “When you get better, bring Caprice back to Glenchester.” The man’s gaze shifted. “What about you?”

“I'll stay. | still have to finish what | started here. When I’m done, I'll go look for you guys.”

“Will you be coming back then?” He looked at her with the warmest gaze, but Sherry somehow felt guilty.

“Yeah.”

“So, are you planning to live in two cities while staying with Caprice and me forever?”

“Of course, it won't be forever,” she answered instinctively.

“Then, how long will it be?” he asked as he fixated his gaze on her. Sherry’s eyes flickered. She stammered, “I... | don’t know.”

“Then, are you planning to work for the Sagers forever?” he asked. The question silenced Sherry.

Work for the Sagers forever?

She had a long road ahead of her and she believed she would not stay with the Sagers forever. Just as she was arranging her words to form a satisfying answer, his deep and pleasant voice echoed in her ears, “Sherry, come back to my company.”

Sherry was surprised by the offer.

John had sat down beside her without her knowledge. He stroked her head and said, “If you come back, | can give you my entire company.”

Sherry was stunned. Her eyes went blank.

He looked at her gently. His gaze felt magical as if it could suck the soul out of her.

Chapter 1792

Chapter 1792 Her heart raced out of control. It took her a while to recover and avert her gaze. She said, “Stop trying to trick me.”

The Stockton Corporation was a lot younger than the Sagers Corporation since John only started building it in Glenchester a few years ago.

However, under his leadership, the company grew rapidly and exceeded the Sagers in terms of expansion and overall strength. The company’s potential for future growth was immeasurable.

Besides, John invested a lot of effort in the company. Would he really be willing to give her the entire company? “| will give it to you if you want it,” he said. Sherry’s eyes flickered. “I’m doing good here.”

As soon as her words subsided, his slender fingers lifted her chin. He delicately turned her face to him. He wore a bewitching smile on his face and his eyes looked gentle. “Sherry, I’m being serious here.”

Sherry’s eyes gleamed again. “I didn’t say you were lying.”

“Then, are you willing to say yes?” He looked into her eyes.

Who in the world would reject such an offer?

However, Sherry had her own concerns.

“That’s your company that you built from the bottom, not mine.”

“What's mine is yours,” he whispered.

The whisper tickled her ears, sending goosebumps all over her body. She tried to move away, but he caught her. “Where do you think you are going?” he whispered with his eyes narrowed. “N-no. | just want to sit over there,” Sherry stammered,

He curled his lips. “You still haven't replied me.”

The strong and warm hand remained clutching her chin.

Sherry pursed her lips. “I don’t want your company.”

“Then, what do you want? To work for the Sagers for the rest of your life?” Sherry looked at him.

He just stared back at her, looking gentle yet also imposing in an unspoken way. Unless she could satisfy him with his answer, he would not let her go.

Sherry’s temper was nowhere to be found at this moment. She sighed softly and then said, “I don’t know, but | don’t think | will work there for life.”

“Then, follow me back. No matter what you want to do, whether it’s taking over my company or going to work somewhere else in the same city, or even doing your own thing, I'll support you unconditionally,” he said firmly.

Doing her own thing?

Sherry’s eyes sparkled. She had thoughts of starting her own business, but they remained thoughts for now.

Amomentary silence later, she said, “Carl just took over the company. | still have some unfinished projects to follow up on. | can’t leave yet.”

John smiled. “Then, we'll wait for Carl to strengthen his position and for you to finish your projects. We can go back to Glenchester after that.”

Sherry heaved heavily. “But it may take me a long time to finish them.” At least two to three months, or even a year or more. He stroked her face and whispered, “It’s okay. | can wait.”

If he said he could wait, then Sherry had nothing else to say. She flicked his hand off and glared at him.” Take your stinking hand off me.”

He kept stroking her throughout the entire conversation.

John just smiled.

Sherry turned away and looked at Caprice.

The girl was curled up into a ball with the phone in front of her. Her eyes curved joyfully as she watched the screen.

Awhile later, she said, “Liam, | didn’t catch that.”

Chapter 1793

Liam's cool voice came from the phone. “I'll show you again.”

Caprice nodded happily.

The two of them only spoke twice in the past five minutes. The topic was a mystery.

However, Caprice’s lips were curled all the way, and she was really enjoying herself.

Noticing something out of the blue, Sherry looked at John. “Has Caprice been calling Liam often?” “Yeah.”

Sherry narrowed her eyes.

Liam was a cool boy. He never really got close to people other than his family, yet he had the patience to deal with Caprice’s affection.

Caprice was a strange girl as well. In terms of appearance, Liam was indeed handsome, but his younger brother, Flint, was just as good-looking and had a brighter personality.

Flint was also around the same age as Caprice, yet the girl did not even bat an eyelid at him. She just loved to be around Liam or stare at him through the screen.

Sherry found it baffling. “Odell called me a while ago,” John said all of a sudden. Sherry asked, “What was it about?”

She had contacted Sylvia a while ago as well and informed her of the situation here in Coastrock, thus Sylvia should not be worried about her anymore.

John pursed his lips. “He wants to arrange for a marriage between Liam and Caprice.” Arranged marriage? At this age?!

Sherry was shocked. “My Caprice is only three years old!”

Liam was only ten years old, yet Odell was already proposing an arranged marriage. Why the rush?

John raised a brow. “I think Liam’s parents know how bad his temper is, and other than Caprice, no girl. would ever want to marry him. Besides, our Caprice is adorable, obedient, and beautiful. They may be afraid that some other guys will snatch her heart in the future.”

Sherry was rendered speechless. Her daughter was adorable and obedient, and Liam was not that bad either. “What did you tell him?”

“Have a guess.

Sherry looked at him.

He curled his lips “I said Caprice is still young. We'll discuss it when she grows older.”

He did not know how Liam would turn out in the future. The reason why he allowed Caprice to contact Liam so often was that he was worried that the girl would miss her mother too much, so he let the girl call Liam to distract her for a while.

He planned to implement some rules on her video calls once they head back to Glenchester. He could not allow her daughter to concentrate solely on Liam, and he wanted to prevent her from being hurt by the boy in the future.

Sherry nodded.

Children knew nothing about love. Caprice liked being with Liam maybe because she enjoyed playing with him. As for the arranged marriage, it would be a topic for another time. There were several expensive mansions located further away from Sherry’s apartment.

One of the mansions was extra quiet, and only the whirring of winds could be heard at the window. The living room had a dim lamp on.

In his titillating pink shirt, Carl leaned on the couch as he crossed his legs on the table. There were several uncorked wines on the table with some empty glasses by the side.

He was drinking from a bottle. The red liquor flowed down his throat, and only a small portion of trickled out of the corner of his mouth over his firm jaw to the knot of his rolling throat and settled in his collar.

While his eyes narrowed as he drank, scenes with Sherry flashed in his mind.

The first time he saw Sherry was at the office. His mother had dragged him to the office and arranged a meeting with her, telling him to learn how to manage a company from her.

Sherry had helped the Sagers complete several big projects that were deemed impossible to complete.

Carl originally thought a woman with such methods and ideas must be old, but she turned out to be a young and beautiful lady. Her loveliness was different from what he anticipated.

Chapter 1794

Chapter 1794 Her charming eyes looked pure, unlike the women he saw in nightclubs.

She would never oversell her looks and treated people with sincerity. She had strong perseverance and a heart of gold, which played a key role in winning the clients’ hearts to secure the projects.

She was good at drinking as well. She once had a drinking competition with a client in an after-work meeting, and the client was knocked out cold.

She was unlike other women that he met. After she came into his life, he stopped going to nightclubs and severed all ties with the women that he slept with.

It had been a few years since they first met. Even though there were still people who called him a playboy, he had never touched a woman since the first day of knowing her.

It was not because he did not want to have women in his company, but other than Sherry, no other females were able to match his standards anymore.

He really liked her.

In contrast, Sherry’s image of him never changed since day one. He remained the playboy that she assumed he was and kept toying with him.

He pursed his lips and continued gulping down the bottle of wine.

As the wine entered his throat, he heard footsteps approaching. He opened his blurry eyes and looked out of the living room. A figure came into his sight.

He could not see properly due to the wine that he had been drinking. He instinctively called out, “Sherry, is that you?” Thud!

A pillow flew into his face.

“lam your mother!” Lisa screamed at him.

The pillow strike woke him up and cleared his vision.

Disappointed, he pursed his lips and put the bottle down. He sat straight up and removed his legs from

the table.

“What are you doing here?”

“If |weren’t here, you might already be dead from all this drinking.” Lisa looked at him in disappointment.” You stupid boy, | told you to chase after Sherry, but you didn’t want to listen to me. Now that you’ve lost her, you are here poisoning yourself with all this wine. Feeling shitty?”

Irritated, Carl lowered his head and hugged himself.

Lisa cighed. “I know you are feeling terrible, but you can’t force someone to love you. You should get a hold of yourself and concentrate on work. | believe Sherry will follow Master Stockton back to Glenchester soon. The company is in your hands now.”

Carl opened his eyes but remained silent.

Lisa went over to him and patted his head. “Carl, you are still young. As long as you run the company well, you don’t have to worry about not having someone as good as Sherry in the future.”

“There’s only one Sherry Fowler in this world.”

He truly only had room for her in his heart.

Lisa sighed a second time. “Carl, you are not just my son; you are the heir to the company. Sherry went through a lot to help us reach where we are today. | don’t think you want to let her efforts go in vain after all this.”

Carl removed his hand from his head. He looked at his mother and said, “Mom, | don’t want Sherry to leave.”

Even if he could not be with her, he did not want her to leave Coastrock.

Lisa tightened her lips. “I don’t want her to leave as well, but we can’t change anything.”

John rooted his company in Glenchester, and Sherry was a capable woman. John would want Sherry to work in his company, for both private and professional reasons.

Even if Sherry refused to join John’s company, with her capabilities and John’s help, she would be able to achieve a lot more if she left the Sagers.

While Sherry decided to stay in the Sagers because of her debt of gratitude, Lisa could not be so selfish as to request her to stay permanently.

Carl pursed his lips in silence. His vision started to turn blurry again.

Lisa tapped on his shoulder. “Carl, you must take over the company, not for me but for your father. If Sherry and Master Stockton get another divorce in the future, only then you have the confidence and capabilities to make her yours.”

Carl's eyes shimmered all of a sudden. Lisa cleared her throat and added, “But if she leads a happy life, you must let her go.” Carl smiled. “Il understand.”

Lisa sighed a breath of relief when she saw the hope in his eyes. “I have to go now. You should take some rest, and stop drinking.”

“Okay.” Lisa then left the house.

Carl got up for a bath and washed his face.

Chapter 1795

When Carl finally cleared his mind, he went into the study, which he seldom entered. He turned on the computer and started to go through the stack of documents by the side.

If he could improve himself, maybe Sherry might look at him differently in the future and fall for him.

Besides, with past experience, Sherry might not stay married to John forever. They might really get another divorce someday. As long as he improved himself and gained the capabilities to rival John, he might stand a chance to win

her back.

Later that night in Sherry’s apartment, Sherry played around with Caprice after dinner. She then bathed the girl and put her into bed.

After Caprice was finally asleep, she went out to the living room and saw John reading on the couch. “Stop reading. Go take a bath.”

He was still recovering, so sufficient rest was important. She did not want him to be the last to shower. John smiled. “Okay.” He went into the bathroom.

Sherry sat by the bed and watched Caprice sleep while texting Sylvia.

The shower in the bathroom stopped after a while.

Sherry looked at the bathroom door and saw the man coming out with a towel wrapped around his waist. His upper body was naked. There was only a thin towel covering his manhood. The dim lighting highlighted his slender physique, presenting him as an alluring incubus that could devour Sherry alive.

She blushed and gulped nervously, but then she feigned annoyance and glared at him. “Why are you naked?” John looked at her innocently. “I don’t have any clothes here.”

He had worn a patient's gown in the hospital, and when he moved into her apartment for a short period of time, it was Jason who brought him his clothes from the hotel. He really did not have any clothes in her

place.

Sherry pursed her lips and got up. “Where’s your place? I'll go get your clothes for you.” “It's quite far away.”

“How far?”

“A two-hour round trip.”

Sherry frowned. “So, you are going to sleep naked tonight?”

After all, they were planning to sleep with Caprice on the same bed.

John pondered. “There’s a folding bed outside. Why don’t we let Caprice sleep outside tonight?” Sherry glared at him. “Stop fooling around!”

He must have come out naked on purpose

John pursed his lips. “So, I'll sleep outside tonight?”

Sherry exasperatedly sighed. She did want him to sleep outside, but the folding bed was not exactly comfortable. Besides, John just got discharged and was recovering, thus he should be having quality sleep.

She looked at him. “I'll buy you some clothes online right now.”

The instant delivery that e-commerce companies offered now could deliver some clothes in a stipulated time.

“New clothes aren't exactly clean. They must be washed first before they can be worn.”
