Chapter 1796

Chapter 1796 Sherry had forgotten that the man had OCD.

Ten years ago, when she lived with him in a cheap apartment, the man bought three pairs of socks for ten dollars and washed them before he wore them.

Annoyed, Sherry asked, “Then, what do you want?”

“| don’t know. What do you suggest?”

Sherry bolted up to him, glared at him, and said, “If you don’t come up with a way, you are sleeping outside tonight!” John pursed his lips. “Fine with me.” He then walked past her and headed to the door.

As he moved past her, Sherry saw the scar on his back. He had recovered from the stab, but it left a scar on his body. Her heart clenched all of a sudden. “Hold on!”

He stopped and turned around to her.

“Come over here.”

He returned.

Sherry then opened the closet where she kept her pajamas. Other than sleeping dresses, she had some oversized pajamas as well. Even though they might not be suitable, he should be able to fit in them. Sherry pointed at her pajamas. “See if you can fit in any of them.”

He went up to her back. Just when she thought he wanted to pick pajamas for himself, his arms curled around her waist and hugged her from the back. His broad chest made contact with her back.

His chin was propped on her shoulder as he whispered into her ear, “I can’t wear any of those.”

His deep and charming voice sent chills down her spine. Sherry’s heart raced. Her body started to feel hot.

When she recovered a moment later, she said, “C-can you talk properly? Why must you stick your body to my back?” “Sure. Why is your voice trembling?” he asked.

“I'm not!” She wanted to push him away, but he caught her hands and pulled her into his embrace. Sherry’s hands landed on his strong and broad chest.

Thud!

Sherry felt like her mental defense had crumbled. She did not push him away this time. Instead, she even caressed his chest with her fingertips. He had been bedridden for days, yet his muscles remained taut.

“Sherry, why don’t you choose one for me?” he asked.

Sherry was rendered speechless.

The man must be asking for a beating.

As the sudden urge rushed into her head, she turned around and kissed his lips with one hand around his neck.

The man froze for a moment before he lifted her up against the closet.

It started to rain in the middle of the night. When the rain stopped after midnight, the room quieted down. Sherry lay on the bed, exhausted as if her strength were sucked away after all the intense sex.

The man’s broad chest was by her side. He had one arm around her shoulder as he whispered into her ear, “Do you want me to massage your hands and legs?”

“No.” Sherry sounded hoarse from all the moaning.

John stroked her head. He smiled and said, “Your voice sounds rough. You must be tired. Let me give you a massage.” Annoyed, Sherry cried, “I’m not tired!”

If he had not been recovering from the stab wound and needed her to do all the moving, she would not have been this tired! John narrowed his eyes. “Then, should we go again?”

Sherry instinctively threw a kick at him.

Chapter 1797

Before her kick could land, he caught her leg with his large hand. The warmth from the tip of his fingers burned her ankle as he caressed her.

Sherry blushed. “Get your hand off my leg!”

John released her ankle as told, but then he grabbed her calf next. His naughty fingers started to dance on her sensitive calf softly. The touching slowly turned into rubbing and with the right amount of strength, it felt comfortable.

Sherry’s eyes flickered.

John looked at her and noticed her lifted mood. “How does it feel?” Sherry turned away shyly. “It’s okay.”

He smiled and continued to massage her calf.

Seconds turned into minutes as the massage went on. Sherry originally wanted to tell him to stop if he was tired, but his massage was too good to stop.

After a while, she fell asleep without knowing it.

John then stopped. Looking at her blushing face, the man smiled. He laid her body straight so that she could sleep more comfortably.

He then got out of bed, picked up some loose pajamas, and went out of the room.

Caprice was sleeping soundly on the folding bed outside the room. John carried the girl into the room and put her beside Sherry. With the lamp switched off, he laid down beside Sherry and closed his eyes.

After a dreamless night, Sherry opened her eyes the next morning and saw John next to her, looking at her.

He smiled enchantingly. “Morning.”

Sherry was awe-struck.

He was wearing a lady’s pajamas that did not fit his physique, but it did not affect his handsome looks and elegance. She quickly regained her composure and consciousness and realized that she had fallen asleep last night while he was massaging her.

Realizing that she did not carry Caprice in last night, she bolted up nervously.

Then, she saw Caprice still sleeping soundly next to her. She sighed a breath of relief and stroked her head. It was then that the doorbell rang.

Sherry wanted to go answer the door, but John beat her to it.

“It must be Jason,” he said.

He headed out to the door.

She got out of bed and followed him out.

When she walked out of her room, John had already opened the door. It was Jason with a big suitcase. Sir, the things you requested are here.”

“Okay. Did you bring the document | left on the couch?” John asked after a quick glance at his luggage.

Jason’s eyes widened out of shock. “Sorry, sir! | forgot about it! I'll bring it here right away!”

“Go.” He sounded calm without any hint of anger or upset.

Jason glanced at the female pajamas that he wore before he left with a sigh of relief.

John then brought his luggage in. He looked at Sherry in the room and smiled. “I've ordered breakfast. It should be here in ten minutes.”

Amomentary pause later, he added, “Aunt Wanda will be here to take care of Caprice later. You don’t need to worry. Go wash your face and prepare for breakfast.”

Judging from his tone, he seemed to be moving in for good. With him and Aunt Wanda around, she did not have to worry about Caprice at all.

She hummed a reply and went to the bathroom.

After she brushed her teeth and washed her face, she came out and saw him sitting on the couch in her pajamas.

“I'm done. You can go now.”

He hummed and nodded.

As he got up and headed to the bathroom, the doorbell rang again. Sherry was close to the door, so she answered it and saw Jason.

Jason was holding a set of documents. He smiled at her and said, “Madam, I’m here to deliver the documents to Master Stockton.”

Sherry was slightly surprised.

The man who had just entered the room was aware of Jason’s arrival as well. His eyes flickered nervously before he turned around, but it was too late.

Chapter 1798

Before John could come out of the room, Sherry asked Jason, “Didn't you just drop his luggage?”

Jason answered, “Yeah, but | forgot to bring the document that he asked for, so | went back for it.”

“But how did you come back so fast?” Sherry thought John lived two hours away.

Jason smiled, “Master Stockton’s hotel is two minutes away. It’s directly opposite this building. | don’t even need to drive.” Sherry was left speechless.

Opposite the building? Two-minute walking distance?

Sherry squinted.

Why did John claim that a trip back to his place would take two hours last night?

The scenes of him catching a cold a while ago flashed in her mind. Had the man been faking it to win her compassion?

Sherry’s gaze turned cold. She turned around and wanted to confront the man.

Then, she saw him standing in front of the room, smiling at her with curved eyes. His gentle smile somehow calmed her anger but she was still annoyed,

She glared at him. “You said you are staying two hours away from my place.”

John squinted at Jason who immediately realized he had revealed unnecessary details. He put the document down and fled. The door was closed, leaving the couple in a quiet room.

Sherry glared at John.

He pursed his lips as he walked over to her and held one of her hands. She wanted to pull her hand away, but he put her hand on his abs.

“| shouldn’t have lied to you. You can punch me if it makes you feel better.”

Sherry was left speechless.

Despite having a layer of pajamas in between, she could feel the warmth on his body and his solid abs.

It felt... great!

Her annoyance was demolished by the rock solid abs!

She blushed. She looked at him and cried, “Stop trying to seduce me!”

John curled his lips. He whispered, “Then, punch me.”

“Hmph! You really think | won’t punch you?”

His smile remained bewitching. “I think you will. Come on.”

Jerk! He wanted her to punch him!

She curled her fist and threw a punch at his chest. However, before her fist could touch him, his other hand caught it in mid-air and pulled it closer to him.

Thud!

Sherry landed on his broad chest again. Her chin was lifted up to his handsome face, and his lips pressed

against hers.

Sherry widened her eyes.

As though he was afraid she would flee, he held the back of her head and hugged her tightly. He kissed her deeply. Sherry was enchanted by his charms. She wanted to resist at first but started to soften and then enjoyed it after a few seconds. Some time later, when things started to get awkward, he released her.

Sherry gasped for air immediately.

John stroked her cheek and asked, “Still want to punch me?”

Sherry gulped nervously and looked at him shyly.

Chapter 1799

John simply smiled.

Sherry pushed him away.

It was then that a tiny figure entered her sight from the room. Caprice had woken up without her knowledge. The girl was in her pajamas. Her hair was messy, and she was looking at them with her big googly eyes. “Daddy, Mommy, are you two kissing?” she asked innocently and curiously.

Sherry blushed. She choked upon hearing the question and then looked at John.

John smiled in reply. He went to Caprice and carried the girl into his arms. “Daddy and Mommy are saying good morning to each other,” he said.

“Saying good morning means kissing?” the girl asked. Sherry smirked. She was anticipating John’s made-up excuse.

John smiled and then said, “You can choose to kiss or not when you say good morning. You can only kiss people that you like and cannot do it to people you are not close with. Got it?”

Caprice’s eyes shimmered with interest. “Oooo.” John then looked at Sherry. She sighed a breath of relief and muttered in her heart, ‘What a cunning man!’

With Aunt Wanda taking care of Caprice, Sherry could spare some worry. She no longer had to wake up early in the morning to prepare herself and then help Caprice with the same. She just had to have breakfast with Caprice and John before she went to work.

At the end of the day, she would come home and have dinner with the two of them again.

She sometimes brought work home to do after dinner, but most of the time was spent playing with Caprice, or together with John.

The simple and fulfilling life went by swiftly. Half a year passed since then.

Carl had successfully launched multiple projects since he took over. The division managers and employees had gotten used to his work style as well. In conclusion, other than the unexpected accidents from time to time, everything progressed smoothly.

To everyone’s surprise, Carl improved a lot and carried out his responsibilities with flying colors.

After Sherry settled all the lingering projects, she handed in her resignation letter. She spent a few nights thinking about how to write the letter and even got John to help. In the end, the letter was a few hundred words long.

However, even after she emailed Lisa the resignation letter, her heart remained restless.

The next day, she arrived at her office, but her mind was somewhere else. She stared in the air blankly for the whole morning, and it was her subordinate who brought her back from her trance by calling her name

a few times.

Her nervousness and restlessness continued until later in the afternoon.

Knocks came from her door.

She thought it was her subordinate looking for her. “Come in.”

The door opened and Carl, in his handsome and professional suit, entered.

It had been half a year since he took over the company. Maybe because of the pressure that he has been feeling, he looked and behaved a lot more maturely than before. Often, she felt like she did not know the

man.

Seeing him in her office, Sherry bolted up and smiled professionally. “Mr. Sager, what is it?”

Carl's eyes flickered. “My mom saw your resignation letter. She asked me to invite you to lunch later.”

Sherry was slightly baffled. “She could have just called me. Why send you here?”

Carl looked at her. “I want to come here.

“It's been a week since | last saw you, so | thought I’d come here myself,” he added.

Sherry’s eyes flickered. She averted his gaze and said, “Alright. Then let’s go, don’t keep Lisa waiting.”

Carl remained silent.

Just when Sherry wanted to head to the door, Carl stepped in front and blocked her way.

Sherry took a step back and looked at him with furrowed brows.

He smiled at her with his charming eyes. His usual flirtatious gaze was somehow filled with sorrow and mockery.

“Sis, it's only been a week since we last saw each other and you are already calling me Mr. Sager?”

Chapter 1800

Sherry said, “You are now the CEO of the company, and we are working. If not Mr. Sager, what should | call you?” Carl curved his eyes. “When | wasn’t the CEO, you never called me Young Master Carl either.”

Sherry gulped. “In the workplace, there’s only the superior and the employee, no Young Master Carl or whatever.” “Hmph. Fine.” He chuckled and stepped aside.

Sherry continued forward, but when she walked past him, he held her wrist. She was caught off guard.

He looked at her with his beautiful eyes and said softly, “Sis, if you really want to go, can you stop calling me Mr. Sager?” Sherry’s eyes flickered. “Okay.”

Carl smiled and released her wrist.

She then strode outside.

He looked slightly disheartened. He only went to chase after her after she left the office.

Lisa’s car was waiting downstairs.

As soon as Sherry walked out of the lobby, Lisa’s driver opened the door for her.

Sherry went over.

Lisa was waiting for her with a smile. She waved at Sherry and said, “Come on in. Let’s go have something good.”

Seeing that Lisa reacted just fine to her resignation, Sherry’s lifted heart finally felt relieved. She entered the car and sat beside her.

The driver closed the door and then returned to the driver's seat.

Sherry was slightly surprised. She looked outside the window and then Lisa timely said, “Carl has something else to do. We will be having lunch on our own.”

Sherry hummed a reply. Deep down, she sighed a breath of relief because Carl was not coming. She had no idea how to face him now that she had tendered her resignation.

The car drove for half an hour to reach a local seafood restaurant. Despite its seclusive location, the restaurant actually had a line in front.

Fortunately, Lisa booked a table, and it seemed like she knew the owner. As soon as they got down from the car, the owner came over to welcome them personally.

They were brought to a quiet room on the second floor.

“Lisa, the usual?” the owner asked.

Lisa nodded and then said, “And two more bottles of that fruit wine that you brewed yourself.”

The owner nodded and left the room to prepare.

Lisa pursed her lips and then said, “Sherry, this restaurant is one of the best in Coastrock. I've always

wanted to bring you here, but work caught up. Who would have thought this would be a farewell lunch for you?”

Sherry’s eyes flickered. “Lisa, I...”

“You can be yourself in front of me. | know you are going to leave sooner or later, but | didn’t expect you’d stay for so long. Sherry, you don’t need to feel guilty about it. You’ve done a lot for me, Carl, and the company,” Lisa consoled her.

She then opened her purse and revealed a package wrapped in a paper bag. “Here’s a little present that | have for you. Take it.” She put the package in front of Sherry.

Curious, Sherry opened it.

When she saw the contents, her eyes widened in shock. She covered it and pushed it back to Lisa. “Lisa, | can’t take this. It’s too much.”

Inside the paper bag was a housing agreement. Lisa had bought a seaside mansion and several other shops in the golden area under Sherry’s name. They were worth a fortune.

“Sherry, | have always treated you as my own daughter.”

Lisa pushed the paper bag back and held Sherry’s hand. She put on a serious look and said, “The properties | bought are all in Coastrock. The reason | gave them to you is that | want you to know this place is your home as well.

“If things don’t go well in Glenchester, you can come back whenever you want. My door is always open for you. Understand?” Sherry was deeply moved. She somehow started to tear up. “Lisa, | promise I'll visit often even if | go back.”

Even without the properties, she never planned to cut ties with her.
