Ch. 1801..1805

Chapter 1801

Lisa’s eyes teared up. “Good, good. As long as you know your way home.”

She urged Sherry to take the property deeds. “Keep these.”

Sherry accepted her goodwill. “Thank you, Lisa.”

The lunch went on for hours. Lisa chatted with her about many things.

They only went back to the office in the evening.

There were still resignation procedures that Sherry needed to be a part of, especially since she was a department manager.

There was some time left before clocking out, so she went back to her department and held a small meeting with her subordinates to tell them that she was leaving. Her subordinates were all smart people, and they already expected her to leave for Glenchester sooner or later.

It was the time spent together that made it difficult to see her leave. Sherry chatted with them for a long time.

It was until the sky turned dark when Sherry realized it was way past time to leave office. She told her subordinates to go home without holding them back any further. She then grabbed her purse and left the building as well.

It was already seven o’clock. She wondered if Caprice was waiting for her at home.

She strode to the parking lot. When she approached her car, she heard an adorable voice calling her,” Mommy...” Sherry looked ahead and saw John and Caprice by her car.

The man leaned on the car, looking slightly lazy.

Caprice crawled out of John’s arms and waddled her way to Sherry.

Sherry bent over to carry the girl into her arms then gave the girl a big kiss on the cheek.

Caprice also kissed her back.

Sherry carried the girl over to John.

“Why are you here with Caprice?” she asked.

John curled his lips. “Caprice missed you, so | brought her here.”

Sherry looked at Caprice. The girl snuck a glance at John before she nodded and hummed a reply. Sherry could not help but kiss her cheek again, and Caprice giggled happily.

Then, a big hand patted Sherry’s head. She turned to John.

John looked at her with a gentle gaze and asked, “Did Mrs. Sager give you an answer?”

He was referring to the resignation letter she sent to Lisa last night.

Sherry nodded. “Lisa approved it.”

John noticed her lifted mood. It seemed like the resignation did not affect her and Lisa seemed to approve of it rather quickly. He exclaimed, “Then, let’s go home.”

“Okay.”

Sherry carried Caprice into the rear seat while John got into the driver’s seat.

The car drove out of the parking lot and joined the traffic on the road.

Higher up in the CEO’s office, a towering figure stood before the ceiling-to-floor window as he gazed down at Sherry’s car that left the building.

Chapter 1802

Even until the car disappeared into the traffic, the man did not show any intentions of turning away. His charming eyes teared up under the starry night.

Some time later, an exasperated sigh could be heard.

Lisa had been standing behind him for a while. She tapped on his shoulder and said, “Sherry said she will come to visit us often. Stop standing here. Go home and take a rest.”

Everything that needed to be said had been said, thus Lisa then left the office.

Carl remained standing before the window with pursed lips. After his mother left the office and shut the door, his body leaned forward against the window. He held up his hand against the window and propped his forehead against the back of his hand.

Tears fell from his tightly shut eyes. It took Sherry a full month to do a complete handover. Her last day was on a Friday. Sherry booked a table at a restaurant to treat her subordinates to a feast.

Her subordinates were reluctant to see her go, but they were quite happy when they learned that she was paying. After work, they took a ride to the restaurant ahead of her.

Other than her direct subordinates, Sherry also invited other department managers who were rather close to her. She texted them personally and told them to wait for her in the lobby so that they could go together.

After sending out the invitations, Sherry spotted Carl’s contact at the bottom of the list. His display picture had changed from a sexy selfie of himself to the company’s logo in stark black and white.

The last time they chatted was half a month ago, and it had been about work

Her fingers froze for a moment, but she ultimately decided not to invite him. She believed he was busy with work.

She put her phone away and went downstairs to the lobby.

Her subordinates made a move first to the restaurant while the other department managers waited for her in the lobby.

The elevator door opened, and she saw the others waiting for her. She strode out of the elevator, but before she could reach them, a tall figure in a handsome suit came towards her from the other direction.

Sherry wanted to turn a blind eye, but Carl hastened his steps and stood in front of her. “Sis, where are you off to in such a hurry?” he asked with a smile. Sherry choked on her words.

Before Sherry could squeeze her words out of her throat, Carl noticed the other department managers waiting for her. He smiled at her and then said, “Are you going to have a farewell dinner with them?”

Sherry nodded.

“Where to?” he asked.

“A restaurant in the Southern beach.”

“Oh, that place? It’s good, but it's hard to get a seat. | know the owner. Do you want me to help get a table for you guys?” Carl offered

Sherry rejected politely. “It's okay. | already booked a table a week ago.”

Carl pursed his lips awkwardly. He reacted like a child whose best friend was leaving him for someone

else

Sherry’s chest tightened as the guilt devoured her. She tried to stay away from him so that he could concentrate on running the company. She did not want to inject useless hope into his mind anymore

However, after knowing each other for years, she truly viewed him as a good friend or even a good little brother, and she did not want to hurt him.

A few seconds of silence later, she smiled and asked, “Are you free now?” Carl smiled. “I’m actually attending a function. | can’t join you guys.” Sherry pursed her lips awkwardly. “Okay.”

“Have fun.” He patted her head and then walked away, disappearing from her sight in the blink of an eye. Sherry sighed. She then went over to the department managers.

Chapter 1803

Chapter 1803 After dinner, Sherry and the group arrived at a club near the office

The club was the first to operate under the Sagers after she joined the company, and it continued to be the most popular one in the city

The group had fun until midnight. Many of them got drunk.

Sherry waited by the roadside and saw them off before she headed to the parking lot. There were still many cars in the parking lot at this hour, but her car stood out from the rest because there was a tall and elegant figure next to it.

The handsome man wore a white shirt, had a pair of golden framed glasses and looked extra clean-cut with the combination. He held a big bouquet of roses in his hands.

When Sherry spotted him, she met his bewitching smile. Her heart raced. She smiled and went over to him.

“Sherry, Happy Resignation,” he said and gave her the roses.

Sherry took it and said, “Thank you.”

“You're welcome.” He curled his lips and softly pinched her cheek.

“What are you doing?” She glared at him.

John stepped closer to her eyes, lowered his head, and brought the tip of his nose close to hers, sniffing Sherry blushed. She unconsciously wanted to push him away, but he circled her waist before she could.

He lowered himself further and pressed his lips against hers. His kiss felt firm but soft, so soft that Sherry lost the intention to push him away.

The kiss lasted for a while.

Sherry had to push the man away to stop the kissing streak.

John released her and pinched her face once more. “Did you have a dozen bottles of wine tonight?” She reeked of alcohol, and it was not only her breath.

Sherry’s eyes flickered. “No, it was my subordinates. | just had a few glasses.”

John narrowed his eyes. “Your blood is flowing with alcohol. Do you really think I’m an idiot?”

Sherry gulped nervously because she knew it was a lie as well. She replied with a glare. “This is my last day at the Sagers. Can’t | have a little extra fun? What? Did my alcoholic breath get in your way?”

How dare he question her and nag her?

John was slightly stunned. He held his laughter back and said, “Drinking too much will harm your body. | just want you to stay healthy.”

Sherry raised a brow. “I know what I’m doing. You don’t need to worry about me.” She knew her alcohol tolerance level. She loved to drink, but she was not an alcoholic.

John caressed her face which was stained with a blush. “Alright. Let’s go home.”

Sherry nodded. She took a step back and John opened the door for her. She shot him a praising gaze for his manners. She then entered the car with the bouquet of roses.

John smiled and got into the driver's seat

Before he started the car, he had a look into the rearview mirror Behind the car was an expensive but inconspicuous MPV

Carl was in the MPV He was still wearing the same suit from earlier, and he was looking at Sherry’s car from the window

Chapter 1804

Chapter 1804 The flight back to Glenchester was on the next morning.

After breakfast, Sherry and John brought Caprice, Jason, and Aunt Wanda to the airport. When they finished checking in, Sherry carried Caprice and was walking through security with John.

Suddenly, a ground staff came to her with a smile. “Hi, are you Ms. Sherry Fowler?” Sherry was slightly surprised. “Yes, | am.”

The staff then handed her a small bouquet of flowers and a delicate-looking box. “Someone wanted me to hand you this. He wanted me to tell you to be happy.”

Looking at the flowers and the box, Sherry was slightly stunned.

Noticing her mother’s blank state, Caprice took the little box.

The staff then left.

Sherry looked at the flowers in her hands. It was a bunch of pink roses with a beautiful daisy in the middle. It was lovely. Caprice then opened the box out of curiosity. Her eyes blinked in awe, and her jaw dropped when she saw what was inside. Sherry looked into the box.

There was a diamond necklace inside. The pink diamond was carved into the shape of a beautiful rose.

“What is this?” The girl pulled out the little card hidden under the necklace.

Sherry wanted to take the card, but a big hand snatched it away first.

It was John who stood beside her. He had a glance at the handwritten words on the card. As his eyes narrowed and looked slightly gloomy, he pinched the card tightly and pursed his lips in silence.

Sherry saw the handwritten words on it as well.

“Sis, safe journey.”

It could only be from Carl.

How did he know when she would be leaving Coastrock City?

Sherry looked around. All she saw was bustling people and airport security, but Carl was nowhere in sight.

Sherry pursed her lips with mixed feelings.

“Mommy, who gave you this?” Caprice asked curiously with her big eyes staring at her.

John was looking at her as well. His lips slightly curved, seemingly smirking.

Sherry’s eyes flickered. She answered, “It’s a good friend of Mommy's. He wishes us a safe journey back to Glenchester.” “Oooh...”

Sherry could not free her hands from the flowers and the box while holding Caprice. She gave them to John and said, “Help with this.”

John took the box and the flowers. Sherry then carried Caprice through the checkpoint. John glanced at the flowers and box in silence, lips pursed. He then went after Sherry and Caprice.

There was still time before boarding, so they went to the lounge to relax and kill time.

Sherry carried Caprice to the couch.

The girl seemed interested in the flowers. She crawled out of Sherry’s arms and went over to John’s to sniff the beautiful flowers with her tiny nose.

John carried her petite body and looked at her play with the flowers.

While the father and daughter were playing with the flowers, Sherry snuck her phone out and pulled up Carl's contact.

Amoment of consideration later, she texted Carl.

“Thank you for the present.”

Maybe Carl did not have his phone with him, thus Sherry did not receive a reply.

She pursed her lips and texted him again.

“Carl, | hope you will find your happiness too. All the best to you and the company.”

Ding!

Just when she was about to keep her phone away, it chimed.

Chapter 1805

Carl replied, “Alright, I’ll remember that!”

Sherry smiled. She put her phone away.

Last time, she might have nagged him a little more, but he was no longer the playboy.

Carl would only become more and more mature and reliable, and Sherry believed the company would excel under his leadership.

“You look happy. Who are you chatting with?” The man’s rich voice suddenly sounded.

Sherry regained her composure. Just when she was about to say it was Carl, she was surprised by what surrounded John. His feet and legs were covered in rose petals.

Caprice was sitting on his lap, plucking the petals from the roses that Carl had given Sherry and throwing them around. Sherry furrowed her brows at John.

John helplessly smiled. “Caprice did it.” In other words, he did not help her or instigate her to pluck the petals.

Sherry sighed exasperatedly.

Caprice was her baby, after all, so there was no way she could be mad at her.

Besides, the fresh roses would wither in a day or two, and she would have to throw them away as well. She might as well let the girl have some fun. Sherry was not overly bothered.

It was then that Caprice raised her little hands and tossed the petals into the air. The dancing petals landed on her, John, and even Sherry.

The girl was unaware of her mother looking at her. She widened her grin and said to her father, “Daddy, I’ve plucked all the petals!”

John was rendered speechless.

Sherry frowned and glared at him.

It got awkward momentarily.

John then patted Caprice’s head and said, “Good girl. Let Mommy see what you did.”

Caprice turned around to her mother and showed off her masterpiece. “Mommy, look at me! I’ve plucked all the petals!” All that was left in the bouquet of roses were thorny stems. Not even the daisy made it out alive.

The girl was ruthless with the plucking. In fact, she did not even feel guilty about destroying the flowers. She looked pleased as if she was waiting for her mother to praise her actions.

However, it really seemed like John did not instruct her to destroy the flowers. Sherry took a few petals from the girl’s head and chuckled. “Good girl.” “Hehe.”

Caprice widened her smile, showing off her tiny teeth.

John pursed his lips. A hint of delight flashed behind his glasses as if his scheme had succeeded. They could not bring the flowers back now. As for the necklace, it was quite expensive to throw away, so it was kept Two hours later, the plane landed at Glenchester Airport.

Looking at the familiar surroundings, Sherry’s chest tightened. The mixed feelings in her left her speechless The last time she left, she had sworn to never come back; a year later, she was back with John and Caprice.

Then, a strong and warm hand held her hand.

Sherry turned around.

John smiled warmly at her. “Let’s go.”

The hatch was opened, and people started to leave the aircraft.

Sherry adjusted her emotions and nodded. She got up and wanted to carry Caprice in her arms.

However, John beat her to it. He carried the girl with one hand while holding Sherry’s hand with the other.
